Just a few days after writing a post about the RG Kar Medical College rape case that was brought to light on India's independence day, another case of multiple sexual assaults on women working in Malayalam cinema has been revealed on Raksha Bandhan.
Back in 2017, a prominent Malayali actress was abducted from her car and raped by men. Out of the eight suspects, Dileep, arguable one of the most famous Malayali actor, was also accused. The case never went forward, remained in its trial stages, and Dileep continues to get paid in millions even now. However, just to help the women in their workplaces, a committee was established with women's safety in mind. And now it has been revealed that this committee failed spectacularly.
Women are asked for sexual favours just to get a role in the movie. They are not provided basic necessities like access to the washroom. They are sexually harassed by prominent men because most movies usually ALWAYS have men as producers, directors and actors and these men use their power to destroy lives.
A 235 page report, consisting of statements made by key witnesses, describing all the sexual exploitation they faced was submitted to the government back in 2019! Roughly five years later only was it made public. Ironically, a recent Malayalam movie was given a national award for handling the topic of sexual exploitation quite spectacularly. It would've been hilarious had it not been such a serious topic.
Women get raped everywhere. On the roads, in their workplaces, even in their homes and yet people keep their 'neutral' stance where they claim the don't know much about the case and, 'not all men are like this!' Wake up. Wake up and look at the hellhole you live in and hate it with all your heart. Hate the way we've stooped so low that we still think rapists deserve a chance. Fight against it and maybe with small efforts from all of us, we could establish a world where our security is truly a right.

This is a cry for help. (from all of India, all women and all victims)
This is not like anything I have ever written before but this is something I just had to talk about. If you have an audience, no matter how big or small, please reblog or talk about this issue. I want this to be talked about internationally as well because I know my country, no matter how hard people try, the government will only be able to sweep this under the rug and there won't be a safer work environment. It is a cry of justice from all of India because of the rape and brutal murder of a medical student.
tw: the next part includes talk about SA and violent descriptions of the crime (i have marked where the descriptions end but please please please spread this news.)
why i need you to reach out- The last case that sparked this big of an online and community outrage was the Nirbhaya case in 2012. Out of the 6 guilty, 4 were hanged, 1 died in jail and 1 who was underage... spent time in juvenile and was let go with all traces of his identity unknown. His name was changed, his face never disclosed, for all I know, he could be roaming around anywhere in India or even outside. That story died down after a few months and now no one in our media talks about it, but an average of 90 rapes a day were reported to CBI (Central Beuro of Investigation) in 2022. I won't go into detail about it but that is a similar horror true story but I will link the resources if you want to read about it. Again, tw: it contains details about SA and violence. The link is there at the end of this post.
what happened- It was around 2 am. After a long, hard 36 hour shift, a 31 year old doctor went to a seminar room to lay down and take a short break after telling her mother that she was fine. In those hours of the night when almost the entire country was sleeping, that girl was brutally beat up, raped and murdered. I will be talking about what happened to her in the next paragraph because what happened to her was truly inhuman and the bastards who did this should be hanged publically so everyone can see the punishment for something as cruel and i lack the words to describe how disgusting this is. The hospital informed the parents that it was a suicide. The parents were made to wait 3 hours before finally being able to see the body of their daughter. And the worst part is, just to make the protests die down, within 24 hours the police announced that they had arrested a man who admitted to being guilty when it was evident that this was not a one-man job. the airpods found on the scene were found in the bluetooth settings of that mans phone and that is it. That is all the "investigation" has told us. I will be updating with any updates on this case but so far, only candle marches and protests have happened and that too by the students.
tw: talks in detail about the injuries.
details of the crime- the girl's legs were at 90 degree angles, her pelvic girdle fractured. her eyes were bleeding due to the glass from her glasses being smashed inside her eye. She was bleeding from every part of her body that was littered with scars, her vagina and her mouth. Her head sustaining head injuries as if it was bashed against a wall. The police suspect she was murdered before she was raped.
Here is why I said it was evident that it was not a one-man job. The amount of semen found inside her vagina was 150 grams. One ejaculation releases 15 grams keep that in mind.
the injury description ends here
how they have tried to cover it up- The hospital began renovating a room very close to the crime scene and gangs were made to trash the crime scene as well to compromise the evidence. The principal of the collage where this happened resigned but got a job just within 12 hours at another prestigious university. THE SAME PRINCIPAL WHO BLAMED THIS HORRIFIC INCIDENT ON THE VICTIM.
resources to help victims of violence and rape- Please reblog, please talk about this story so that it becomes an incident not repeated ever again. So that our mothers, our sisters, our daughters don't have to go through this ever again.
This is a cry for help.
As a medical aspirant myself, I'm scared for my future and the future of all other passionate girls who are trying their level best to work for their career.
the nirbhaya case- What is Nirbhaya case? | What is Nirbhaya case full story? | India News - Times of India (indiatimes.com) details about this case- What happened in the Kolkata rape case that triggered doctors’ protests? | Sexual Assault News | Al Jazeera rainn website and helpline- (for rape, abuse and incest)- RAINN | The nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization helpline- 800.656.HOPE (4673) other helpline numbers- Sexual abuse helplines in India (findahelpline.com)

No somos histéricas, Somos HISTORICAS.
This was something I did last year, noticing the lack of changes in this broken system and the lack of interest from the government, I decided to post this here.
(Si abres el enlace puedes leer el artículo en español. Lo publiqué en inglés aquí porque no me he topado con muchos hispanohablantes y en inglés puedo llegar a más personas)
I'm a photographer, not a journalist but I live here, I'm mexican and since I was 14 I got used to always telling my mom where I was and when I arrived safe at any place.
Why? Because as a woman in Mexico, you know you are in constant danger.
So this article is timeless even if I took the pics and wrote it last year.
I really hope you enjoy it and I beg you, please share this post for all the girls and women that never arrived home. Don't let them win. Don't let their names be forgotten. Let the world know what is happening here.
Don't let them die in vain.
Atte. Una Mujer Mexicana.
-------------------
On Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in Mexico City, approximately 90 thousand women marched towards the capital's Zócalo for Women's Day. Divided among various contingents, from schools to more than one batucada, thousands of women, teenagers, little girls, elderly women, as well as relatives of victims of femicide and disappearance, marched towards the Zócalo, supporting the different protests, but each of them had a common goal: To feel safe in a country where, as a woman, you have to be brave to go out on the streets. And while it was not a movement exclusive to the CDMX, it is the movement I have portrayed here.
Many of the signs and banners were accompanied by choruses and shouts. Among the most common were: "They took them alive, we want them back alive!" and "If they touch one, they touch us all!", among others. There were also signs with photos that read "until we find you, mom" or "give me back my sister" or "may my daughter's death not be in vain". And crossing the generation gap, little girls shouting at the protesters: "those gals do represent me!"
The protests were varied. While many demanded equality and equal pay, most of what could be read on the signs were calls for attention to the femicides that, statistically, have been increasing during this six-year term compared to previous years.
According to data disaggregated by gender from the Executive Secretary of the National Public Security System, which gathers the complaints filed in the Prosecutor's Offices of the 32 Mexican States, explains that, only in the first half of the year 2022: 2,831 women have died violently, 50,000 were physically assaulted, 2,000 were raped, 497 were victims of trafficking, 120 were kidnapped and there were 258,700 calls to the emergency service for being physicaly violented.
By the end of 2022, 948 femicides had been committed nationwide, 3,000 disappeared, equivalent to 2.6 women murdered and 8.37 disappeared per day. Most of them between 15 and 19 years old. Of course, these are the registered cases, there are missing cases that were not reported or that the authorities did not register the complaint correctly.
A couple of years before, in 2018, 898 femicides were registered and in 2021 they rose to 978. The state that, without a doubt takes the first place, is Estado de México with 120 Almost twice as many as in the CDMX with 54 femicides until September 2022 and just like the previous figures, impunity reaches 95% leaving most of the cases without culprits.
On Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in Mexico City, approximately 90 thousand women marched to the capital's Zócalo for Women's Day. Divided into several contingents, they marched towards the Zócalo with a common goal: To feel safe in a country whose president is more concerned about the press seeing the palace burned and not the obscene number of femicides that occur every day in the country. A country whose president cannot recognize that he is afraid of women who are definitely angrier than the opposition for a problem that he has ignored since the beginning of his six-year term.
A country where being a woman has become a death sentence.
