Alvea’s inventory (mahariel version)
trying to draw something different to get me out of artblock. as always, i went a bit wild with the details hhhh
1. Healer’s kit: disinfectant, cloths, poultices, bandages, powders, thread and needles, salves, herbs etc. When Alvea’s healing magic needs a little bit of help
2. Raw amber chunks. Great gemstones for augmenting fire spells
3. A scrap of her original circle robes
4. Mabari crunch. Snacks for the best boy of Ferelden
5. Enchanted silverite sword. The enchantments on it allow her to channel magic through it and use it instead of a staff.
6. A lyrium potion. Used very rarely, only for emergencies.
7. Zevran’s earring (ꈍ ᴗ ꈍ✿)
8. Amber ring, swiped from the circle’s depository. What is strange about this ring is that it does not seem to fit anyone other than Alvea.
9. Brass brooch. A memento of Alvea’s deceased lover. The fastener has been broken and mended many times, but it’s a constant element of Alvea’s equipment.
10. Herbal soap. Smells nice.
11. Dangly earring with a chalcedony stone. First possession bought by Alvea with her own money.
12. Bone comb of Dalish make, bought from the clan in Bercilian forest.
13. Eye kohl (for darkening her eyelashes), red lip and cheek tint and perfume.
13. Fireheart - a staff light enough to be wielded with one hand, with a heart-shaped amber stone at the top. It emits a constant, soft glow, which brings to mind embers of a dying fire.

1. Words of the Witches
Stepping out of the coffee shop and back onto the streets of the city of Toding, I gently pull the door closed behind me, tossing a purposefully casual smile back at the waitress as she locks the door, and flips the sign to closed.
2. Darkling
After six weeks on the road together, watching Lizzy had become something of a habit for Andric Roche.
3. Changeling
In the nocturnal peace of Lizzy's bedroom, that was lit only by the dim shards of light from a newly risen crescent mood, the thud of her jewellery box hitting the hard, wooden floor, and snapping open, seemed amplified.
4. Tale of the Shadowfox
Once upon a time, deep in the frozen lands to the north, there lived a community of foxes. They dug their dens deep into the arctic tundra, kept them protected from the chill winds beneath layers of powdery snow, and guarded each other from the arctic wolf packs, the bears that called the ice floes home, and the humans that made the glacial forests their hunting grounds.
5. The Masquerade
The receptionist is smiling and you shift your weight, anxiously awaiting a response to the CV you just placed in her hands.
Smiling is a good sign, right?
6. The Outer Wilds
With a groan, Dan Wyatt slid the kettle into position over the small campfire, and collapsed onto his bedroll. The sun hadn't set that long ago, and the air was still hot in his lungs as he sucked in a breath, only to release it out in a weary sigh.
7. Takeover
"Why did you have to knock over the bloody vase?" Stella grumbled as she and Reilly ran through the streets of Antillune, the city guards barely a street behind them, and gaining.
8. Stolen
A gold coin pulled from the nobleman's pocket. Five silver strikes from the lady's purse. A cheap brass ring, but the gemstone was genuine and a handful of copper bits transferred from a shopkeeper to the outstretched hands of some street orphans.
9. A Rose By Any Other Name (Doctor Who Fanfiction)
It couldn't be—
It wasn't possible—
His blood ran cold, and fear froze in his lungs. The light of regeneration flowing through the frosted windows of his Tardis made his skin crawl.
10. A Grim Awakening
Grim Reapers look like everyone else. No long black cloak, or heavy scythe, just a hood to ward off the ever present chill of death and their spirit-hound companion.

skyrim randomizer mod 5e
My fiancé [BQ] and I have recently started a D&D 5e home game with just the two of us, myself playing the part of DM. As Critical Role fans, we decided to play in the world of Exandria for ease as I have no DM experience prior to this and we both already know a lot of the lore associated with this world. We recently re-watched Many A True Nerd’s playthrough of Skyrim with the doorway randomizer mod installed [linked below]. Conversations ensued.
BQ always has such wonderful ideas for one-shots and gameplay mechanics, and every time they watch a new video or read an interesting article they throw those ideas my way. My OneNote document is getting out of hand...
I’ve put in a little work devising an idea of how to introduce this mechanic to our home game without hopefully totally breaking our game. Below are my notes. Feel free to let me know if you have any ideas or thoughts, would love to hear them.
The PC finds a disheveled, mossy hut in the swamps near the coast of the Emerald Gulch. The hut seems to be half-sunken, surrounded by mud, water, and vegetation. The sea-swamp hut emits a magical effect that will make the PC feel sick or paranoid, pending a saving throw or two. Upon investigation, the hut is inhabited by a homebrew version of a hag. I’ll probably be utilizing a Sea Hag, and buff it up pending the PC level upon arrival. Not sure if I want to make this encounter potentially non-violent, but I haven’t gotten there yet. So...we’ll say a fight ensues, hopefully leaving the PC still standing. Some loot ideas for the Sea Hag’s hut (thanks homebrew masterminds on the internet): glass dome with water bubble inside that always points north, cracked spyglass that always shows a different point in the water plane, sea shell that lets you change your voice, eye of the witch that allows Identify spell 3/day but only speaks in riddles, edible pickled octopus tentacles, and a pearl that when licked allows the PC to breathe underwater and have a swim speed up to their walking speed for 1HR.
Inspecting the hut further, the PC will find a large, woven seaweed blanket thrown over something rather large. If removed, an opening framed in seashells and seaweed, as well as gemstones and other small collectible items, will be reveled. There is a faint green-grey glow emanating off of the frame, and the opening has the appearance of purple-black ooze. It appears to shift like ocean waves but stands in the place of what should be a door, based on size and appearance. This door, when entered, will take the PC (and anyone else within 15ft. of the door? maybe?) to a random location (D100 table below). Once the door has been utilized by a person, the path of the doors always stays the same for that person, i.e. the doors will always lead to the same place, and you can backtrack to find your way back to the door you came though. Might need to succeed on INT first. Trying to figure out if there should be an unknown to the PC mechanic that could break the magic holding the door together. If the magic is broken, the PC is stuck wherever they are. There is no way to fix it once it has been broken. If someone else opens a door for the PC while they are inside the randomizer, the door functions as normal. If the PC opens a door while inside the randomizer, it will always lead to a new location (new D100 roll).

How to Spot Fake Jewellery: Tips for Shoppers
Shopping for jewellery can be an exciting experience, but it comes with its share of challenges—one of the biggest being the risk of purchasing counterfeit items. With the rise of fake jewellery in the market, it’s important to know how to distinguish authentic pieces from imitations. Whether you’re buying gold, diamonds, gemstones, or designer accessories, these tips will help you become a savvy shopper. Read on to learn how to spot fake jewellery and ensure you get value for your money.
1. Understand the Hallmark System
Hallmarks are official stamps that certify the purity and authenticity of precious metals like gold, silver, and platinum. Genuine gold jewellery, for example, will have a hallmark indicating its karat value, such as 18K or 22K. Always check for this mark before purchasing. If the piece lacks a hallmark, it’s likely not genuine.
2. Perform the Magnet Test
Precious metals like gold and silver are non-magnetic. If a piece of jewellery is attracted to a magnet, it likely contains base metals, which are used in fake or low-quality jewellery. While this test is not foolproof, it’s a quick way to weed out counterfeits.
3. Examine the Craftsmanship
Authentic jewellery is crafted with precision and attention to detail. Look for consistent patterns, smooth finishes, and secure clasps. Fake jewellery often has rough edges, uneven designs, and inferior craftsmanship. A trusted jeweller, such as the Best jewellery showroom in Haridwar, will provide high-quality pieces that showcase exquisite artistry.
4. Inspect the Gemstones
If you’re buying gemstone jewellery, it’s crucial to verify their authenticity. Genuine gemstones are typically denser than their fake counterparts. For example, real diamonds can scratch glass due to their hardness, while fakes cannot. Additionally, synthetic stones often have perfect clarity, which can be a giveaway. Authentic gemstones will also have slight inclusions or imperfections, which enhance their uniqueness.
5. Check the Weight
Real gold and silver jewellery will feel heavier than their fake counterparts. Counterfeit items often use lighter, cheaper materials like aluminum or brass. When in doubt, compare the weight of the piece with similar authentic jewellery to identify any discrepancies.
6. Look for Certification
Reputable jewellers provide certificates of authenticity for their products. These certificates include details like the purity of the metal, the quality of the gemstones, and other essential information. Always ask for documentation when purchasing jewellery.
7. Be Wary of Unrealistic Prices
If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Fake jewellery is often sold at significantly lower prices to entice buyers. High-quality materials like gold, silver, and diamonds come at a premium, so be cautious of unusually low prices. Instead, shop from trusted retailers who are transparent about pricing and quality.
8. Test with a Loupe
A jeweller’s loupe is a small magnification tool used to inspect fine details. With a loupe, you can examine hallmarks, craftsmanship, and gemstone inclusions closely. If you’re unsure about a piece, ask the seller for a loupe or bring your own for a closer look.
9. Conduct an Acid Test
An acid test is a reliable way to determine the authenticity of gold and silver. Acid kits are readily available and easy to use. Apply a small drop of acid to a discreet area of the jewellery and observe the reaction. Authentic metals will not react, while counterfeits may discolor or dissolve.
10. Buy from Trusted Retailers
Perhaps the most important tip is to buy jewellery only from reputable and well-established jewellers. Trusted retailers prioritize quality and authenticity, offering customers peace of mind. The Best jewellery showroom in Haridwar is known for its exceptional collection and commitment to genuine products. Shopping from such establishments reduces the risk of encountering counterfeit jewellery.
11. Learn About Gold-Plated Jewellery
Gold-plated jewellery is not the same as solid gold. While it may look similar, it’s made by applying a thin layer of gold over a base metal. Over time, the gold layer may wear off, revealing the cheaper material underneath. If you’re looking for long-lasting jewellery, opt for solid gold instead of gold-plated pieces.
12. Seek Professional Appraisals
If you’re unsure about the authenticity of a piece, consider getting it appraised by a professional. Experienced jewellers or gemologists can evaluate the item and provide an expert opinion. This is especially important for expensive or heirloom jewellery.
13. Test for Tarnish Resistance
Real gold does not tarnish, while fake gold often shows discoloration over time. Similarly, sterling silver will tarnish naturally but can be polished back to its original shine. Fake silver, on the other hand, often peels or flakes.
14. Verify Designer Jewellery
If you’re purchasing branded or designer jewellery, check for the logo, serial number, or other identifying marks. Many counterfeiters try to replicate luxury designs but often miss small details. Authentic designer jewellery will come with branded packaging and certificates of authenticity.
Conclusion
Spotting fake jewellery requires a combination of observation, knowledge, and caution. By following these tips, you can make informed decisions and avoid falling victim to counterfeit items. Always prioritize quality, craftsmanship, and certification when shopping for jewellery. For a trustworthy shopping experience, visit the Best jewellery showroom in Haridwar, where you’ll find genuine, beautifully crafted pieces that stand the test of time.
Remember, investing in authentic jewellery not only enhances your collection but also ensures that your purchase holds value for years to come

Here's an overview of beads and findings in modern jewelry:
Seed Beads: These tiny, uniform beads are often used in intricate bead weaving and embroidery techniques. They come in various sizes and are popular for creating detailed patterns.
Gemstone Beads: These beads are made from natural or synthetic gemstones like amethyst, turquoise, and lapis lazuli. They add color and texture to jewelry designs.
Glass Beads: Glass beads come in various shapes, colors, and finishes. They are versatile and can be used in a wide range of jewelry designs.
Wooden Beads: Wooden beads add an organic and rustic feel to jewelry. They are lightweight and often used in boho and nature-inspired designs.
Metal Beads: Metal beads are available in different metals such as silver, gold, brass, and copper. They can be plain or ornate, offering a range of design possibilities.
Ceramic and Porcelain Beads: These beads are known for their unique, handcrafted appearance and can be used to create one-of-a-kind pieces.
Plastic and Acrylic Beads: Lightweight and affordable, these beads come in a wide array of shapes and colors, making them popular for costume jewelry and beading projects.

Crimp Beads and Tubes: Crimps are used to secure beading wire and create a neat finish in necklaces and bracelets. They come in various shapes and sizes.

Modern jewelry designers often combine various beads and findings to create unique, personalized pieces that cater to different styles, from minimalistic and contemporary to vintage and bohemian. The choice of materials and components depends on the designer's vision, the desired aesthetic, and the functionality of the jewelry piece.
Certainly, here's a continuation with more information about beads and findings in modern jewelry:
Wire and Cord: 9. Beading Wire: Beading wire, often made of stainless steel or nylon-coated wire, is used to string beads and create secure and flexible jewelry pieces. It comes in various thicknesses and flexibility levels.
Leather and Cord: Leather and various types of cords, such as suede, cotton, and hemp, are used to create bracelets and necklaces with a natural, rustic, or bohemian feel.

Charms: Charms are small decorative elements that can be attached to bracelets and necklaces. They often hold sentimental value and are popular for charm bracelets.
Beading Techniques: 13. Knotting: Knotting between beads is a technique used to create elegant and traditional jewelry. Silk or nylon cord is knotted between each bead for a beautiful and secure finish.
Bead Weaving: Bead weaving involves creating intricate patterns and designs by stitching together individual beads. It's a time-consuming but rewarding technique often used for making detailed bracelets and necklaces.
Wire Wrapping: Wire wrapping is a method where wire is used to secure and embellish beads and pendants. It provides a more organic and artistic look to jewelry.
Personalization: 16. Customization: Modern jewelry allows for a high degree of personalization. Many designers offer custom jewelry services, allowing customers to select the type of beads, findings, and materials to create a piece that reflects their style and preferences.

Certainly, here's a further continuation on the topic of beads and findings in modern jewelry
Trends in Modern Jewelry:
Minimalism: Minimalist jewelry features simple and clean designs with a focus on geometric shapes, delicate chains, and understated beads. This style is popular for its versatility and timeless appeal.
Statement Pieces: On the opposite end of the spectrum, statement jewelry incorporates bold and eye-catching elements, such as oversized beads, chunky chains, and large pendants. These pieces are designed to make a strong fashion statement.
Mixed Media: Modern jewelry often combines various materials, such as mixing metal beads with natural gemstones or using textiles like silk or leather in conjunction with traditional beads.
Geometric Designs: Geometric patterns and shapes are prevalent in contemporary jewelry. These designs create a sense of symmetry and order in jewelry pieces.
Layering: Layered jewelry involves wearing multiple necklaces, bracelets, or rings together to create a dynamic and personalized look. It allows for mixing and matching different beads and findings.
Modern Jewelry-Making Techniques: 26. Resin Casting: Resin is used to encapsulate small objects like flowers, gemstones, or beads in a clear, plastic-like material, creating unique and personalized jewelry pieces.
3D Printing: Some jewelry designers incorporate 3D printing technology to create intricate and complex bead and pendant designs that would be challenging to achieve through traditional methods.
Enamel Work: Enamel is a decorative technique that involves fusing powdered glass to metal surfaces, creating colorful and durable designs.
Mixed Metal Jewelry: Combining different metals, like silver and gold, in a single piece creates a contemporary and eclectic look.
Wire Sculpting: Jewelry designers use wire to sculpt intricate and delicate designs, making it a popular technique for creating custom pieces.
31. Ethnic and Tribal Jewelry: Many modern jewelry designers draw inspiration from the jewelry of various cultures, incorporating elements from tribal, ethnic, and indigenous designs into their pieces.
Bohemian and Gypsy Styles: The boho and gypsy styles emphasize free-spirited and unconventional designs, often featuring beads, fringe, and mixed materials.
Art Deco and Vintage Revival: The elegance and geometry of Art Deco design and the charm of vintage jewelry from different eras continue to influence modern jewelry.
Modern jewelry is a dynamic and ever-evolving art form that continues to push boundaries and explore new design possibilities. It offers a broad spectrum of styles and techniques for both creators and consumers, catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences. Whether you're looking for a classic piece or a cutting-edge design, the world of modern jewelry has something to offer for everyone.

Sometimes I can almost visualize parts of myself, the ones I’m most proud of, atrophying. I wish I had an app to monitor it! I notice that my thoughts are homeopathic, that they mirror content I wish I weren’t reading. I catch myself performing hideous, futuristic gestures, like that “hilarious” moment three seconds into an intimate embrace in which I realize I’m literally rubbing my iPhone screen across his spine. Almost every day at 6 PM my Google Alert tells me that an “Alice Gregory” has died. It’s a pretty outdated name, and most of these obituaries, from family newsletters and local papers, are for octogenarians. I know I’m being tidy-minded even to feel a pang from this metaphor, but still . . .
It’s hard not to think “death drive” every time I go on the internet. Opening Safari is an actively destructive decision. I am asking that consciousness be taken away from me. Like the lost time between leaving a party drunk and materializing somehow at your front door, the internet robs you of a day you can visit recursively or even remember. You really want to know what it is about 20-somethings? It’s this: we live longer now. But we also live less. It sounds hyperbolic, it sounds morbid, it sounds dramatic, but in choosing the internet I am choosing not to be a certain sort of alive. Days seem over before they even begin, and I have nothing to show for myself other than the anxious feeling that I now know just enough to engage in conversations I don’t care about.
Alice Gregory, from Sad as Hell, for N+1, November 9, 2010. Via.
