Time Capsule Brain Dump

So, I'm just finishing up a time capsule to be opened in 2032. In it, I'm including a printed magazine that I've been working on since late September that basically has a whole bunch of information about life in the pandemic and my experiences.

I just finished the final "article," which gives my current perspective and thoughts for how this pandemic is going to end (with a whole lot of vulnerable people dying unnecessarily).

The rest of the magazine is going straight in the capsule without being published online, but here is that article because it's important to me to get this out there while it's most relevant.

Thoughts On the Coming Year

As I type this, we’re at an uncertain time. Due to the relinquishment of all responsibility from our government, COVID has been allowed to run rampant. The Omicron variant is what got us: its ability to cause infection despite vaccination has made cases shoot up to levels we’d never seen previously. I don’t know how this will end, if it ever does, but right now I have a scratchy throat and I’m worried I might have it. However, due to the unavailability of testing right now, I can’t know for sure.

See, because cases have been so astronomical, they have greatly restricted testing eligibility in order to conserve resources, and the rapid tests you can buy from the shop are impossible to find due to high demand and low supply.

I’ve been doing everything I can to avoid COVID. I’ve been double masking, using hand sanitiser, and barely leaving the house in general. If somehow I acquired it, it wasn’t my own fault.

Just before the end of 2021, I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, and had to radically change my diet. But, that added another underlying condition to my risk count.

Beyond the deadliness of COVID, there is the obvious fact that long-haul COVID causes sometimes permanent disability. I am already disabled in numerous ways – I don’t want to make things worse.

This outbreak has not even begun to relent at this point; we are sure to see many deaths in the coming weeks and months. Yesterday, there were 381,269 known active cases of the virus, but given the testing troubles, the true number is probably much greater. Compare with the total cases for the entire pandemic to date, 761,926 – that’s half of all cases from the whole 2 year period being active right now. Total deaths had reached 2,319 with 18 of those yesterday alone.

America is faring badly too, though our cases are growing at a higher rate than theirs (possibly due to a lot of people already having had the virus recently).

Scott Morrison refused to make rapid tests free through Medicare, citing his concern that businesses selling them would no longer be able to profiteer off the pandemic.

Supermarket shelves are bare due to supply chain issues, since everyone has COVID or is a close contact and has to isolate.

This never happened during the Delta lockdown – so Perrottet’s red line that he will never impose more lockdowns seems to be a bit of a dud. When you sacrifice humans to the economy, there are economic consequences that all of us on the left had predicted, because humans are what run the economy. Forcing them into working with a virus everywhere they go was bound to gum up the works through mass illness,and it did, and it seems only the capitalists were unaware of this obvious fact.

Everyone keeps repeating the refrain, “Omicron is mild.” Today the WHO put out a statement telling people to stop saying this, for a number of reasons.

It is mild when it is being suffered by someone with full vaccination status. It is not mild for the unvaccinated, and is in fact the most harmful strain for children that we have encountered, including children too young to be vaccinated. And the worst part is how downright infectious it is. It spreads through the air at extremely effective rates, to the point that many cloth masks are barely useful any longer. And, as I said before, it may not kill vaccinated people, but it infects them at rates not seen before, which means they can spread it, and that’s how we reached these terrible numbers despite over 90% double dose in NSW.

But the most troubling thing about this “mild” rhetoric is the fear felt by the disabled and immunocompromised communities. People who have high risk of death even if they’re triple vaccinated. To allow this level of community spread is to say to these vulnerable people, “oh well, guess you can die.”

The head of the United States CDC (Center for Disease Control), Dr Rochelle Walensky, said on Good Morning America yesterday: “the overwhelming number of death [sic] over 75% occurred in people who had at least 4 comorbidities, so really these are people who were unwell to begin with, and yes really encouraging news...”

This is extremely dismissive of people with comorbid conditions, of which there are many. Most people with “4 comorbidities” probably aren’t even aware of all their comorbidities.

So, let’s assess:

Much of the world has decided to go hands-off on COVID now, letting it pass through the population unchecked.

Many, many more people are going to die because of this, including many people that have been trying their utmost to stay safe, and merely had the wrong person breathe near them.

The health officials are brushing off those deaths in order to look on the bright side

Basically, vulnerable people are being thrown under the bus in order to prop up capitalism and restore a sense of “normalcy.”

The disabled community is calling this eugenics, and it’s easy to see why.

These are people who, while maybe not a picture of health, had many more years of living left if they hadn’t lost their lives to COVID, whose uncontrolled spread was completely avoidable. It’s hard not to see this as a deliberate move to just unleash it on these people and whoever dies, dies. That really is eugenics, isn’t it? Human society exists so we can, as a community, support people who need us and in turn be supported when we need it, and this is dereliction of duty. Just put yourself in the shoes of anyone who knows if they catch COVID, they will probably not survive the ordeal. How do these – once again, completely avoidable – policies make you feel? Forgotten? Thrown to the lions? Heading for certain doom?

Yeah.

As someone with at least two, maybe more, comorbidities, I’d rather not have my country, my community,treat me like a cockroach about to be culled with a bug bomb.

I didn’t even mention the things people have been saying about the morbidly obese – a group which I am thoroughly a part of. I am an acceptable casualty to a lot of people. Like I have no value or worth to society because I “allowed myself” to become this large. It wasn’t my choice, by the way. It’s the ADHD, depression, and probable autism. But that doesn’t matter. They don’t care about the why. Many secretly just want to see less fat people in the world for their own aesthetic comfort.

Tragically though, some of those same people carry less visible comorbidities that they might not be aware of, that will not cause them to be cautious the way those who know have been, and maybe that silent condition will mean that they’ll die too. Acceptable losses, right?

Anyway, you can tell I’m not in the best place mentally. There was a glimmer of hope before Omicron, but now? It’s gone, and so is my confidence that I’ll ever be able to exist normally in society again.

So, thanks for saving the economy, Liberal party. Hope it was worth the acceptable losses you fucking gronks.

Cyclonic storm “PABUK” over South China Sea and its emergence into Andaman Sea on 05th January 2019: Pre-cyclone watch for Andaman Islands

A cyclonic storm “PABUK” lay centred at 0830 hours IST of 03rd January 2019 over south China Sea near latitude 6.0°N and longitude 105.0° E, about 1500 km east-southeast of Port Blair. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and emerge into Andaman Sea around the forenoon of 05th January 2019. Thereafter it is very likely to move northwestwards and cross Andaman Islands around evening/ night of 06thJanuary. Thereafter, it is very likely to move north-northwestwards and then recurve northeastwards towards Myanmar coast and weaken further during 7th-8thJanuary, 2019. Warnings: Heavy rainfall warning Rainfall at many places with heavy falls at isolated places likely to commence over Andaman Islands from 5thJanuary evening. Intensity is very likely to increase with rainfall at most places and heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places on 6th and at isolated places on 7th.

(ii) Wind warning

Squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to commence over Andaman Sea along and off south Myanmar and Thailand coast from 4thJanuary evening. It is very likely to increase gradually becoming 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 over Andaman Sea on 5th and over Andaman Islands, Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of eastcentral and southeast Bay of Bengal on 6th and 7th.

(iii) Sea condition

The sea condition will be rough to very rough over Andaman Sea along and off south Myanmar and Thailand coast from 4thJanuary evening. It is very likely to become very rough to high over Andaman Sea on 5th and over Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of eastcentral and southeast Bay of Bengal on 6th and 7th.

(iv) Fishermen Warning

The fishermen are advised not to venture into Andaman Sea during 4th-7thand into adjoining southeast and eastcentral Bay of Bengal during 6-7thJanuary.
