just for fun I checked 8sidor (easy-read news wesbite) for how they define trans and gender identity.
2014: "trans people are people who are born as men but want to live as women, or born as women and want to live as men."
2020: "Trans people often feel they were born with the wrong sex. You might feel like a boy but prefer to be a girl."
the people who write stuff like "being neurodivergent is no excuse to not learn someone's pronouns!" have just never met an actual person with a learning disability huh

Alcune abitudini per imparare lo svedese più velocemente
Alcune abitudini per imparare lo svedese più velocemente
Imparare una lingua non è semplice; è forse uno degli aspetti più complicati della vita di un emigrato. I Paesi più lungimiranti facilitano il più possibile l’apprendimento della lingua locale consapevoli che questo è il primo passo per una integrazione meno problematica degli immigrati. Imparare una lingua nuova è un processo lungo che richiede impegno costante nel lungo periodo; richiede una…

Spraakdel’s Basic Swedish Resources
For @kaosteori who asked for some Swedish resources.
GRUNDLÄGGANDE GRAMMATIK
BASIC GRAMMAR
Björn Engdahl’s Swedish Course (English)
Learning Swedish (English)
Allmän Grammatik (Swedish)
Svensk Grammatik (Swedish)
ORDBÖCKER
DICTIONARIES
ord.se (Swedish-English dictionary)
Svenska Akademiens ordbok (basically the Swedish OED)
Folkets lexikon
Folkets ordbok (app based on Folkets lexikon; English and Swedish)
LÄSMATERIAL
READING MATERIAL
8sidor (news in easy-to-read Swedish)
smakprov.se (site with beginning chapters to thousands of Swedish books)
Project Runeberg (basically the Nordic version of Project Gutenberg; books are usually older and/or written in archaic spellings but once you get to a good level there’s a wealth of classics here including Swedish translations of the Eddas and lots of Strindberg)
Språk Tidningen (popular linguistics mag)
Populär Astronomi (popular astronomy mag)
Webtoons (check out the Swedish fanlated comics)
TV-PROGRAM
TV SHOWS
Halvvägs till himlen ‘Halfway to Heaven’ (Personally my fave. Everyone speaks in southern Skånsk dialect, though, and one main protag speaks in Norwegian. So this might be hard to understand at first if you’re used to more standard Swedish.)
Solsidan ‘The Sunny Side’
Intresseklubben (the Swedish version of the British show QI, basically comedians attempting to answer trivia and being smartasses about it)
Parlamentet ‘The Parliament’ (comedy show/politics parody)
Värsta Språket ‘Worst Language’ (discusses Swedish language usage/debates)
Svenska dialektmysterier ‘Swedish Dialect Mysteries’ (discusses Swedish dialects)
Historieätarna ‘The History Eaters’ (show where the hosts dress up and pretend to live as they would in a certain time period in Swedish history, and they make a big deal about the food)

Do you have any recommendations for someone just starting to learn Swedish? My only resources right now are Duolingo and some Swedish langblurs that I've followed
No problem! And I’m sorry this is probably veeeery late, I’ve been traveling lately and I’ve been letting my queue run because I’ve been out all day the past couple of weeks. (Hi from Florence, by the way!)
If you’re learning by yourself, it’s tricky to get motivation towork through a textbook, but if you think you can do it (assign yourself xpages to do in a week? have your parents/friends check up on your progress?)textbooks will give you a good grounding. A more thorough grounding thanDuolingo, which can then be considered a supplemental resource. I recommend PåSvenska or Rivstart (Ihave the 1st edition pdfs in here), but anything that looksinteresting enough should suffice if it gets you engaged and has you makingprogress! If textbooks are not for you, Duolingo is a good place to start.
You can also supplement Duolingo/textbooks with a grammarbook. I’d definitely recommend that… I mean, I should do thattoo. Someday.
At nearly every point in the process, your biggest roadblock isprobably going to be unfamiliar words. To expand my vocabulary I like to usememrise, personally, because quite a few decks have audio and I can listen andrepeat to improve my pronunciation along the way. There’s official decks suchas thisone that might be agood place to start, or courses such as HackingSwedish or BeginnerSwedish to guide youthrough the language a little. Another program for this is Anki. I’ve neverused Anki but I’ve heard good things from people who do.
Once you have some of the basics down from Duo, or anywhere, tryto start working your way through reading things. Like easy news - 8sidor or Klartext are pretty good! Or BliuBliu (the paywall is obnoxious but…).
Basically, if I had any advice it would be this: pick a fewthings that cover different areas (vocab, grammar) and stick to them to finish.A lot of language learners will warn against focusing too much on one resourcebecause you can’t possibly learn a language with only one source. I hear fewerwarnings about the opposite, but I think it’s just as important. Don’t stretchyourself too thin and start ten different textbooks, because you’ll be stuck onthe basics for years. But if you limit your resources too much, there might beholes in your knowledge that you’ll have to figure out later.
Everyone learns differently, so the only other thing I canreally think to say is to experiment and find what works for you. Whatever willkeep you engaged and moving forward is good even if you can’t force yourselfto sit through a textbook. Any progress is still progress. Like music? Translate a few songs using a dictionary and grammar notes, add those vocab words to a memrise deck. Like sports? Learn sports vocabulary and a bunch of verbs, try and narrate to yourself the next game you watch. Any way you can engage with the language and learn something is a step forward.
Lycka till, anon!
