toonimal is mentioned in this post as being just "not sanitized and marketable" but that's really a twisting of what happened. toonimal ran a forum that explicitly welcomed "pro-contact MAPs" and minors on the site. there's a linked doc with proof here futomimi/739032888702566400

when people made posts asking staff to take down his blog, it wasn't because they were attacking a trans man for being cringe (most of the people involved were trans themselves), it was bc he was promoting his site. but there's been an effort lately to spin the story as just "he was a victim of a callout who didn't do anything wrong", and posts calling on people to "support toonimal!" get spread bc people aren't familiar with the situation and think it's about harassment campaigns on tumblr.

there was absolutely plenty to criticize about how people responded to toonimal - people were including the minor's usernames on callouts, trying to guilt by association people who just reblogged one of his posts without knowing, and in general taking an approach that was more about retribution than restorative justice. but it's still really not a situation of like "support this guy, he was just being unmarketable", esp when he has not changed his stance about his actions at all.

(and to be clear i'm not accusing you of endorsing him or his actions, i just figured you hadn't heard of him before and were just reblogging bc you thought this was just a harassment campaign.)

okay the thing is. i'm more inclined to believe that is just a lie. as part of the harassment slander campaign that has been going on against a disproportionate amount of trans women and trans fems. and a smaller group of trans men and trans mascs as well

like. this is exactly what happened to 4lung. everyone loooooves to paint her as "she is an ACTUAL MAP PEDOPHILE GUYS!!!!!!" when that was also a slander hate campaign against her. and people still tout it as truth in her soundcloud songs not even posted by her. and their response every time for proof is "just google the twitter callout 🙄" which was. all lies and slander because people can't be normal about trans women making art about their experiences, and willfully misinterpret her lyrics as "SHE'S MAKING LYRICS ABOUT BEING A PEDOPHILE!!!!" when she has elaborated many times, it is a song for her adult girlfriend/wife and the lyrics are personal to them both

and you also sound exactly like those people. so no. i don't believe you and think you are part of the problem, good intention or not
