Forspoken got a bad deal. (Quick review) The game is actually pretty good.Writing: 6Acting: 7.5Gameplay: 8Art design: 9Visuals: 8.5Length: 7I didn't buy this game cause it was touted as being a complete clusters*ck, the. This week I saw it on playstation plus and thought to look what the fuss was all about when it released.This game got review bombed to oblivion but honestly I got duped by the general sentiment at the time and I'm now certain many of the bad reviews were done by people who never got far into the game if they played it at all.The game looks great and the art direction was fantastic, the landscapes are amazing as is the architectural design. Some very good artists worked on this.The gameplay is fast and although it can get overwhelming switching spells once you get the hang of it and have a lot of spells available it's awesome. I don't like the upgrade system of gear as its to dependant on gathering huge amounts of resources which is kinda a grind. Difficulty is a bit to easy on normal and you easily overlevel.The game story feels a bit short but I haven't played after the credits yet and I've definitely not explored all there is to see. That said, story with a bit of sidetracking took me 20 hours to complete so maybe it felt short but it's not necessarily too short in practice. I recommend playing on hard on the first playthrough.The writing wasn't the best but also wasn't nearly as bad as the many cherry picked and edited togheter clips I saw around on release made me believe. There is good character development and good character interaction, the actors did a good job even if the writing wasn't fantastic. The world building could have used a bit of s bigger scope as now its focused solely around the plot and the world and its traditions are left to the imagination.I give the overal game a 7.5/10, definitely worth it at something like a 30-40 dollar price point. It's free on PS+ now and I recommend you all pick it up on that if you haven't already.As a final thought I think it's a shame we are unlikely to see a sequel as this game was a great base to build upon. The internet killed another game frsnchise by wat of populistic hatred and culture war and its a damn shame.
