the thing about having tropical fruit imported to canada year round is like. aside from the ecological impact the fruit always tastes like shit compared to how it actually tastes when it's eaten in its country of origin like it's not even worth all that carbon expended and whatnot. just had the world's most bland dragonfruit and that's saying something cause dragonfruit are pretty mild in flavour even eaten fresh in the tropics. it was so tasteless it actually made me depressed. have u ever eaten a papaya in canada? utterly pointless experience, devastating flavour profile when u know how it's supposed to taste fresh off a tree. a bad papaya in malaysia is still better than any papaya i've had in canada. and 10x more expensive too. better just to eat it canned or frozen if you can't get it fresh locally cause at least then it tastes normal or just eat local fruits
