Still sitting with the fact that I saw a dead body being unloaded from an ambulance today outside the hospital and took a wrong turn straight to where someone had been shot and what stuck in my mind was that they'd been holding a 7-11 Big Gulp and the soda splattered in a similar pattern on the sidewalk to the blood, and how odd it was that the ice hadn't melted yet--and the only thing that made me freeze in my tracks with terror was when a group of EMTs strode up to the bus stop in their uniforms, off duty, with that real cocky loping gait, and I mistook them for cops.
