How to Become the Best Service Sub Ever
Tumblr media
Now that you understand the appeal, let’s get practical! Being a great service sub is more than just doing chores. It’s about anticipation, attitude, and efficiency. Ready to level up your service sub game? Here are 10 tips to make sure your dominant thinks you’re the best thing that ever happened to their household.
10 Tips for Being the Best Service Sub
1. Know Your Dominant’s Preferences
Don’t guess—learn what your dominant likes and doesn’t like. Whether it’s how they like their coffee or the perfect way to organize their bookshelf, knowing these details will make your service feel personal and attentive.
2. Be a Mind Reader (Sort Of)
Okay, you can’t actually read minds, but try to anticipate your dominant’s needs. If you notice the laundry is piling up or their favorite snack is running low, take action before they have to ask. Proactive service shows you’re paying attention.
3. Love What You Do
Service doesn’t have to be boring! Take pride in every task, no matter how small. Whether you’re folding towels or organizing the pantry, approach it with enthusiasm. The more effort you put in, the more rewarding it becomes.
4. Communicate Regularly
Check in with your dominant about their expectations. Ask if there’s anything you can improve or if there are specific tasks they’d like done differently. Clear communication will ensure you’re always on the right track.
5. Be Open to Feedback
Don’t take feedback as criticism—it’s a way to improve! If your dominant suggests a different way to do something, embrace it as a learning opportunity. A willingness to adapt is key to being an excellent service sub.
6. Keep a Schedule
Organize your tasks with a routine. Whether it’s daily chores or weekly duties, having a clear schedule will help you stay on top of things and ensure that nothing is missed. It also shows your dominant that you’re serious about your service.
7. Prioritize Their Comfort
A top-tier service sub is all about making life easier for their dominant. Does your dominant have a favorite way to relax after work? Prepare their space, set the mood, and make it perfect for them. Small acts of thoughtfulness go a long way.
8. Be Discreet but Efficient
Your role is to serve, not to be in the spotlight. Complete your tasks efficiently without drawing too much attention to yourself unless requested. Let your work speak for itself, and let the results shine.
9. Practice Self-Care
To be the best service sub, you need to take care of yourself too! Stay healthy, well-rested, and mentally sharp so you can be at your best when fulfilling your duties. A burnt-out sub isn’t as effective or happy.
10. Have Fun with It!
Remember, being a service sub should be fulfilling for you too. Find joy in knowing that your actions are making a difference. Add your personal touch to the tasks you perform, and most importantly, enjoy the dynamic!
Whether you’re a seasoned working sub or just considering the role, embracing the art of service can be an incredibly rewarding experience. It’s all about creating a harmonious, caring relationship with your dominant, where both parties feel respected, satisfied, and fulfilled. Now go out there, take pride in your tasks, and get ready to be the best service sub ever!

hey y’all! so it was quite a week. i’m gonna try my best to summarize everything that went on!
academic:
🧬 did notes for chapter 1 and part of chapter 2 of micro textbook
🧬 completed homework for chapter 1 and chapter 2 of genetics and did my first attempt for chapter 3. letting myself get caught up in everything else before i go back and do my second attempt!
🧬 went back and wrote out notes for all of genetics last week*
🧬 started writing out notes for biochem last week*
okay i know it seems odd that i was doing notes as homework and not during class but taking notes during class just does not work for me because until i’ve seen all of the material in the section, i can’t tell what’s important or not and i’m just scrambling to write down every single word which never works.
health:
🌺 ate breakfast every morning this week! and lunch and dinner (pretty much)
🌺 got i don’t even know how many steps trekking around campus. biochem building to the music building is going to be the death of me
🌺 maintained a pretty good bedtime every night last week! was asleep every night by probably 11, earlier than that some nights. goal moving forward is start bedtime routine by 9 and get in bed by 10. (except for mondays because Bible study is 8-9!)
personal:
🧚 maintained a top tier morning routine every day last week — got up at 7, made my bed, read my Bible, made breakfast, ate breakfast, got to class early or on time!
🧚 hung out with Bible study group and my best friend and roommate/pseudo big sister and a couple of other friends!
🧚 started a second paid role in a church choir! this one is with the director of the choirs at my university (one of which i’m in) so i’m super excited for that!
🧚 finished season 1 of gravity falls! been watching an episode every night before bed and then here and there as a lil treat
🧚 overall did not rot!! 🤩
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. genetics notes!!
2. new bookshelf 🤩 i have wanted this specific bookshelf for a year because i saw it when i was moving into my old apartment but i didn’t get it and now i finally have one!!
3. desk setup 🫶🏻 i love her she’s so pretty
4. DR SANDWICH BOUGHT ME LEGOS!!!!!! God bless her 🥺
5. my friend picked me up to go buy new sports cards cause we both lost ours and i asked her if she had any little snack she could bring me and she made me a peanut butter sandwich and i was so hungy and was looking forward to this so much! this was a highly anticipated sandwich y’all
6. other lil bookshelf that i brought from my closet at home! with pretty orchids!! this whole wall is so precious and makes me so happy 🥰
🎶 song on loop: most recently “she calls me back” — noah kahan
📖 current book: made some progress this week on i have some questions for you by rebecca makkai
🕰️ time focused: i had 25 hours and 16 minutes of study time for last week which falls pretty much just short of my daily goal of 4 hours! hoping to get that higher but pretty happy with it for the first week!
very low energy. head hurt. signing off now!! 🫶🏻

fic writer meme
the biggest thanks to fic writer queen @vinelark for tagging me :,) <3
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 61!
2. What's your total Ao3 word count? 463,074 so less words than war and peace
3. What fandoms do you write for? for the last two years, Batman (with one unfinished Daredevil matt/foggy fic featuring Spiderman)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
No Hetero (the first Voltron fic I ever wrote, I also remember writing this fic with perfect clarity, like I became conscious of my writer brain when I wrote this)
Tim and Kon v. The World (I actually wrote this in like an hour while procrastinating sleep)
The Failure of Tim Drake (the first Batman fic I ever wrote)
Keith is Broken
Champagne Problems
5. Do you respond to comments? sometimes, when I post a new chapter I'll respond to comments on the previous one. But for every single comment, I get such a comment notification high <3 I've printed out several, too and they live on my bookshelf and provide joy and motivation.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I've never written a sad ending intentionally, but I have so many unfinished fics that end in the middle angst section. Of the fics that I'm pretty sure I'll never finish, I'd say my My Hero Academic fic Date Me (For Justice) which was my first attempt a really long fic and stops on such a mutual pining, getting blackmailed, sad note. Now that I'm writing this, I'm like-- I should finish that.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I love the ending of Sore Loser, and not just because it's a little spicy.
8. Do you get hate on fics? there's such a culture of, "if you don't like it, keep scrolling" so I've never gotten real hate, but I have gotten critique comments that point out places that I didn't get canon right and places where I contradicted the facts of my own story lol those guys are basically my beta readers <3 <3 <3
9. Do you write smut? Yeah, I actually started last year!
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you have written? Yeah, not really for Batman, but I have in the past. The craziest is probably my Wandavision Supernatural crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I think the second fic I ever posted (Spideypool) which couldn't have gotten more than like 1,000 reads, I got a comment that was like, "just so you know someone posted this on Wattpad."
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, honored that someone translated Tim and Kon v. The World into Chinese!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No but I'm so down for real, that sounds fun!
14. What's your all time favorite ship? You'd think by my ao3 stats, it's TimKon-- but I write fanfic for things I wish were different. There's a lot about their canon dynamic I love, and their fanfic is top tier, but for my favorite canon ship I'd probably say like Percabeth (especially with the Disney plus show, they're so back)
15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Probably my Daredevil Matt/Foggy High School au. I'm just not that into Daredevil anymore. I have so many Batman WIPs, but when I think of them I'm like, one day I'll finish it, baby!
16. What are your writing strengths? I love how I write banter. I also like to think that I give the supporting cast or characters who might be reduced to comic relief their own interior life and mini arcs-- but that might be more aspirational than actually in my writing as of now lol. I think I also write friend groups really well!
17. What are your writing weaknesses? structure, and related to that pacing. Also, the way I shy away from editing even though writing is rewriting or whatever that saying is. I'd say there's like five fics of mine that I've genuinely edited, but I'm working on it. I've been reading such a great book about writing lately called A Swim in the Pond in the Rain by George Saunders, and I highly recommend it.
18. Thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics? I think the only time I've done that was in one of my Supernatural fics. I wrote Eileen, who's deaf. Originally, I put all her dialogue in italics to signify it was being signed. But I got such a kind and helpful comment on that fic being like it's weird and frowned upon to have her ASL lines formatted so differently, so I changed it! I think if I ever did another language again, I would research it more thoroughly first.
19. First fandom you wrote for? it was on fanfic.net and it was Percy Jackson, he and Annabeth were middle aged (which I obviously had great insight into at 15) and the main character was their daughter. Although as a child, I would write my own episodes of my favorite tv shows which was way before I knew what a screenwriter or fanfiction was. I love that one of my oldest instincts is to create the shit I wish I was seeing.
20. Favorite fic you have written? Hm, of my completed fics, I'd say a tie between To All The Vigilantes I've Loved Before and Capture the Flag (to the Death). I like the first one because it's the longest romance I've finished (at 27k) and there are certain scenes I really love. The capture the flag one I like because it feels the most like a real miniseries DC would publish (out of everything I've written) and I'm really proud of the ways I hid each of their flags and all the betrayals.
I'm tagging @thief-of-eggs <3 and anyone else who wants to do this! ~ please tag me in your post because I'm always looking for and loving writer mutuals <3

Hope you’re having a nice day. Can I ask what are the best queer books you’ve read?
Okay anon. I feel like I've trained for this my entire life lol
So full disclosure, most of the queer books I've read are sapphic books so pretty much all of my recommendations will lean in that direction.
Realistic Fiction/Romance (YA)
She Gets the Girl (this is my absolute most favorite in the entire world I think lol)
Forget Me Not
Home Field Advantage
Melt with You (another top tier favorite -I finished this book and cried because it was what I had been looking for my whole life and that's when it dawned on me that I could just...keep reading books like this forever)
She Drives Me Crazy
The Lucky List
Not My Problem
Out of Character
6 Times We Almost Kissed (And One Time We Did)
You Should See Me in a Crown
Margot Zimmerman Gets the Girl
Hazel Bly and the Deep Blue Sea (middle grade not YA)
Realistic Fiction/Romance (Adult)
Delilah Green Doesn't Care/Astrid Parker Doesn't Fail
Mistakes Were Made
Cleat Cute (it isn't out yet but trust me it's so great)
In the Event of Love
Payback's a Witch
Kiss Her Once For Me
One Last Stop
Horror/Fantasy/Sci-fi
The River Has Teeth (I am obsessed with this author)
Squad (graphic novel)
I'm the Girl (definitely check trigger warnings for this one)
These Fleeting Shadows
The Bone Spindle
The Restless Dark (seriously this author)
The Dead and the Dark (obsessed)
Missing Dead Girls
Scrapegracers
*I would probably check trigger warnings for most of the horror stuff just in case!
Also honorable mention to the Truly Devious series which is just so awesome but a secondary main character is in a queer relationship with a non-binary character and another character identifies as ace. The mysteries are also amazing.
Historical Fiction
Last Night at the Telegraph Club
Miseducation of Cameron Post (not so much romance, more coming of age)
The Mercies (does not have an on-page happy ending)
Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (I didn't love this one but it feels like it has to be said lol)
A Few Notes....
I know that I'm forgetting some. I basically sat by my bookshelf/went through my Goodreads for the past 3 years so I'm sure I'm missing some older ones or some classics.
Basically what I look for in a queer book is that it's going to make me happy and make me feel good so hopefully that will be true for other readers -horror is, of course, my favorite and...wow the romance just hits differently
I have a huge TBR I have amassed that has lots more titles that I haven't read personally but would be happy to post for anyone interested
I know that a lot of these books are of similar perspectives/backgrounds/etc. and would love further recommendations and suggestions!
If anyone wants to add to this list I would be thrilled!

[FC Room] With the Fishes Aether / Gilgamesh / Mist / Ward 1 / Plot 4 / Room 6 twt: link
A comfy lofi inspired room at the bottom of the sea!
This build was inspired by this lofi compilation! I thought it would be fun to play around with an unconventional room shape, and still have a chill cozy area to hang out in. I'm not normally very brave with colors since I prefer drab earth tones, but I wanted it to be kind of fun and chaotic. I think it works?
I really love the Ahriman Bookshelf fireplace! It's something I've been wanting to play around with but I didn't really have a build that fit it until now. also, I messed up on lofting the Eulmoran Divans, so the unfinished shawl is hiding a very obvious seam LOL. The chochin lanterns inside the alpine pillars is an effect I really like -- I can't remember if I saw it somewhere before, but I had so many chochin lanterns laying around. I needed them to go somewhere.
This was really just an excuse to use some of the tier 4 aquariums I had laying around, and clear out some storage. It was a really fun build though, and I do love the chaotic coziness of it.

hi there!! are there any fics you’re reading right now that you would recommend? i need something good after the season we’ve been given so far 😣
hello there!
I agree, this season has been disappointing - especially considering it’s the last one. but thankfully, our fandom is full of amazing writers that serve us goods regularly. I have so much to recommend, it’s a joke. so prepare for a long fic rec. In no particular order, let’s begin:
1. Chasin’ You - @burninghoneyatdusk
okay. you’re gonna see a bit of a theme with me in these fic recs because the authors I mention are some of my favourites in the world - sam being one of the TOP TIER ones. this fic is a modern au, written about clarke and bellamy as exes (a favourite trope of mine) that have went their separate ways. clarke has moved away and hasn’t kept tabs on bellamy but he's soared to the top as a country star, his hit single being about her and what they had. if there’s any fic from this list you need to start reading, it’s this one.
2. Voices in the Water - @burninghoneyatdusk
It’s the canon version we all wanted. set on earth, clarke’s aunt (nia) forces her into an arranged marriage with king bellamy to unite the clans. but under it all, nia has tasked her to kill him. obviously, as clarke falls in love with bellamy, it’s the one task wanheda probably can’t complete. I'm in love with the imagery and descriptions in this fic. there are honestly some lines that sam writes that I want to frame and put up in my house. absolute brilliance.
3. All Because of You - @burninghoneyatdusk
*sheepishly raises hand* - hi, it’s me again, fangirling over another one of sam’s fics. if you have followed me for a while, either here or on twitter, you’ll have seen me screaming about this fic. I've pulled over while driving to read an update that came through to my email. no lie. I don’t say this lightly but it is definitely in my top 3 favourite bellarke fics of all time. sam DELIVERS with this one. bellamy knocks up his sister’s best friend when they’re both young and they grow together in raising their daughter. this fic flashes between present and future in the most seamless way and we see how in love they were back then but too scared to admit it, combined with how in love they are now that they are mature and older - but yet can’t seem to take the leap. I can’t tell you enough how good this fic is. I'm in love and it’s one of those fics that I would happily have as a book on my bookshelf, the pages worn and falling out from the amount of times that I re-read it.
*I just want to note that sam is doing a fantastic job at running @bellarkefic-for-blm. This is an opportunity for the bellarke community to directly support the Black Lives Matter cause through reading and writing fanfiction. For every fanfiction prompt a participating writer receives, they ask that you donate to an organization that supports the BLM cause. This initiative includes non-bellarke the 100 ships and requests for other content (e.g. gif sets, icons, moodboards, fanart). please check them out and request a prompt (this also includes updates for the above mentioned fics)*
4. Count Your Teeth - @icantloseyou-too
let me tell you, you guys will be well fed after reading this fic. It’s one of the most original idea’s and we get so much bellarke and the blake siblings in this one. bellamy is a treasure hunter and married to clarke, after leaving his thieving days behind him. that is until his past comes knocking and drags him back into that world again - and clarke along with him. absolute chefs kiss!
5. Cups and Sorcerers - @icantloseyou-too
again, such a unique plot with just the right amount of fluff. clarke is a witch who owns a coffee shop and she ends up meeting someone just as unique as her. I’m invested in this to an embarrassing degree and it always puts me in a good mood when this fic is updated. such a light and heart filling read and ciara does a fantastic job of world building in this fic.
6. Paint me in Trust - @pawprinterfanfic
I'm sure this fic needs no introduction. everyone and their mother has heard of it and if you haven’t read it yet, believe me, you’re missing out. a harry potter au that runs alongside the last few movies without being involved with the main characters. essie manages to make an already existing world so different, thrilling and gripping. it emotionally upends you and takes you along for the ride without any intention of letting you off. I'm just in love with it and rightly so!
7. When the Wolves Come Home - @pawprinterfanfic
I don’t know how people aren’t RAVING about this fic more because I certainly am. it’s massive for me to even say this because I love all of essie’s work but it’s my favourite fic that she’s written. I can’t describe the feeling I get when I read how she’s written bellarke in this. it’s a percy jackson au but you don’t need to have knowledge of that world to enjoy this. I actually started reading the books because of this fic. essie writes it so well and incorporates a lot of fantastic elements from greek mythology while also keeping me on the edge of my seat with bellarke’s journey. HERE FOR IT ALL THE WAY.
8. I’ll Find You in the Morning Sun - @cominguproses13x
I’ve never seen a fic talked about as much as this one. with 60 chapters, it’s bound to satisfy any hunger you have for bellarke. it’s set in a post apocalyptic world and it is beyond a shadow of a doubt, my favourite setting to read bellarke in. I've actually stopped reading this fic on chapter 5 because im currently writing my own post apocalyptic au as it was a trope on my bingo card and I don’t want any subconscious spill over, but I fully intend on reading the rest of the fic in one go once my fic is published and done. it deserves all the praise and hype.
9. For Blue Skies - @kombellarke
kayla’s fics make me actually weep. her writing style is just unbelievable and she sucks me into stories so fast. this one is no different. I live and breathe for bellarke as exes and this fic is one of my favourites. it’s a modern au with clarke as a mother and she cascades back into bellamy’s life without warning. perfect angst and anticipation. in love.
10. Love Like Fools - @talistheintrovert
the way I love talis with my whole heart. I'm always obsessed with her fics and the way this one was written was just magnificent. enemies to friends to lovers, roommates, angst, emotional comforting? SIGN ME UP. the perfect mix of all of those and I felt so good after reading this. always a fan.
11. It Had To Be You - @useyourtelescope
I had the honour of pre-reading some of this fic before it was published and I felt so privileged. a regency au with a prank war sprinkled in? perfection. hana honestly writes this so beautifully and I can’t recommend this enough. it’s so unique and we are all so incredibly lucky that there’s something in the bellarke fic world for everyone.
12. Veni, Vidi, Vinci - @carrieeve
Again, proof of the pudding that there’s something in fic for everyone. I’ve never read one like this before and it THRILLED me. murphy and bellamy working together to steal a Vinci? it was the fic I never knew I needed. the bellarke interaction in this was beautifully written and I am just completely obsessed. we really struck gold with the bellarke big bang works this year.
13. A Twist of Fate - @queenemori
let’s be honest, soulmate au’s are always wanted and needed in this fandom and kara does an excellent job of serving us this one. we got some team cockroach in here along with some top tier quality bellarke. what more could you ask for? if you haven’t read this fic yet, you need to. so thankful for kara being the absolute gifted babe that she is.
14. Power Over Me - @sparklyfairymira
okay, if you recently watched the witcher on netflix like I did, believe me, you NEED to read this fic. if you haven’t watched the witcher, this fic will make you want to watch it. the smut in this, the plot, the WRITING. absolutely phenomenal. have I mentioned how lucky we are to have such fantastic writers in this fandom?
15. There’s a Serpent Lying Deep Down in These Still Waters - @shaeheda
post apocalyptic au? SIGN ME UP. bellarke thrown together in unkind circumstances? SIGN ME UP. this magnificent human writing a fic? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP. I'm so in love with this fic already and I haven’t even finished it yet. as I've said, I've stopped reading fics in this genre until my own is completed but I’ve read enough to tell you that this needs to be on your next to read list. forever in awe of the talent here and this fic makes me feel so lucky to be part of something so great.
I hope this satisfies you for a while and that you enjoy all the bellarkey goodness that comes from these fics. I'm gonna drop some of mine below because why not? just in case you’re in need of something more.
1. I Found Peace in Your Violence
clarke griffin has it all. she’s popular, an artistic prodigy and has a wealthy family to boot. so when her perfect world comes crashing down around her, it’s time to sink or swim. she tests positive for the Homicidal Tendency Syndrome gene, also known as the kill gene. clarke is plucked from her comfortable life and placed into a school with people just like her - carriers, delinquents. when she meets bellamy blake there, he looks like everything they say HTS carriers are. a monster, a criminal. yet, he’s the one who protects her.
2. I Am Lost This Time
a void!bellamy fic that we all deserved to have happen in canon. an au where bellamy hears clarke’s radio calls from earth, sees her memories in m-cap and where she really is the key: the one that unlocks his memories and brings him back to her.
3. Purple, Blue, Orange, Red
bellarke are childhood friends and teenage lovers, reuniting in the midst of the same grief that tore them apart.
4. Devil Side
post apocalyptic setting and my favourite fic to have ever written. both of them coming together to survive and protect those in their family, including two small children. bellarke started out as strangers, who would have thought that they’d end up co-parenting in the middle of a world that is too dangerous to survive out in the open?
5. Waste It on Me
a soulmate/reincarnation au that I wrote based off my own breakup and feelings. probably my most popular fic and should keep you going in terms of bellarke feels.

Note
I saw in your bookshelf pic You read bl ? Do you have any recs i am a hopeless gay wishing for something good to read 😭
i sort of do but i wouldn’t say i do it because i like the genre. i’ve read a shit ton of bl just to find the hidden gems and inform people of them...and complain about the supposedly good ones that i happen not to like.
it is important to note that there are VERY FEW bl i’ve actually liked, and exactly one that i have loved. that being said, here are my recs.
god tier: sasaki to miyano. seriously. it’s not exactly a bl but still. just read it. it’s by far the best.
very good: yuki to matsu, hirano to kagiura, our not so lonely planet travel guide, yuki no yousei
pretty good: blue sky complex*, hitomi no ounowa*, boy meets maria (not exactly a bl tho, you’ll see why if you read it), awairo emaki
not bad, but not a fav (i’m picky): stigmata seikon sousa*, seven days, our dining table, toritan*,
*=has explicit scenes (i usually skip those though so i may have forgotten whether a few have them)
and then some series that have queer rep but aren’t bl:
god tier: anything by yuhki kamatani, especially our dreams at dusk (they are ace and x-gender, too); blue period (very minor rep afaik but it’s one of my fav series); my brother’s husband
pretty good: sailor moon, gay fuuzoku no mochigi-san* (extremely interesting), the heart of thomas (an actual classic)
questionable, but i like it: antique bakery (weird as shit but it’s groundbreaking), yuureitou (a fav for sure)
and last but not least, stuff that’s popular but i thought was bad, mediocre, or at least overrated: given, ten count, no. 6, blue flag, 10 dance, ganbare nakamura-kun, wandering son, umibe no etranger
(i liked blue flag, wandering son, and 10 dance initially but then they kind of dropped off)
unfortunately i’m lacking in knowledge about f/f rep in manga because i tend not to like the style of most yuri series that get licensed in english. i’m def looking to change that bc i’m way more attracted to women than men lol
