This is one of my favorite pictures in the world . It was taken at a march protesting the murder of #MikeBrown . We were in a residential area and at some point a group of young Black boys jumped in at the front of the march. They were militant, fearless and soon they began to lead chants on the bullhorn. It was amazing for me to march with them . Thank you as always to Enbion Micah Aan for this photo. In less than 24 hours I will be 50 years old. I'm grateful, honored, and incredibly lucky to be one of the older folks surrounded by brilliant amazing anti-police brutality and anti-gentrification activists in their teens, 20's and 30's . People raved about the beauty of Weeksville Heritage Center , THE SLIDE SHOW, the TABLE DESIGN, the FOOD, the amount of fun they had, OUR JAMAICAN STORM cocktail, the friendly energy in the space, access to an OUTDOOR area, and of course ending the night dancing to the AMAZING Rich Medina . The overwhelming feedback from our guests was that it DID NOT FEEL LIKE A GALA --- It was a really FUN upscale party !
