Aaron Hotchner x Reader
A/N: Did I create an extremely improbable scenario just to suit my need to create another highly improbable scenario? Yes. Do I care that it’s unrealistic? No. Please forgive any typos/ grammatical errors.
CW: suggestive content, but not explicit (like 15+?). Use of y/n one time. (Technically this would probably warrant one of those hostile workplace environment seminars like they had for Derek and Penelope. But it’s funny? Idk this isn’t serious.) Sassy Hotch. Crack plot tbh.
Also I know the timeline doesn’t really make sense, because JJ is a profiler and Emily and Rossi exist, but I imagined Season 1 Spencer while writing this! I guess it’s 2005? Btw I do not know how tapes work, so just pretend it makes sense please. This is so unserious.
Summary: reader wife and Hotch are private people; the BAU team is nosy. Spencer is just constantly in the right place at the wrong time.
Enjoy!
——————
The screen in front of you depicted horror - just not the kind the BAU was used to. The UnSub had confessed to leaving a message in an old tape. He had already been arrested, but you were all hoping it might contain something that might help the conviction stick. Only he was extremely paranoid, so not only had he left the message in a code, but he had spliced it into a tape he thought people were least likely to watch. His p***. It was the last thing to do for the case and everyone was trying to help. You all sit at the round table, and Spencer shifts in his seat, clearly uncomfortable. Derek laughs at his shyness and Emily laughs at the very unrealistic movements. She and JJ tilt their heads at the shape the two on the screen have put themselves into.
“That does not look comfortable”, JJ mocks.
The words are out of your mouth before you think. “Trust me it’s not”.
Everyone at the table snaps their heads to look at you.
“Damn Mama”, Derek laughs. “Who are you doing these moves with?”
You try to hold back a laugh. You were not ready to share about your sex life with your colleagues, no matter how close you were. Plus you’re pretty sure Aaron would not appreciate it.
“That is inappropriate workplace conversation”, you say, pausing the video. “And you’re going to miss the next series of code”, you tell him, trying to get him to revert his attention back to the video. Emily grins at your attempted evasion.
“We already got all the code. She just doesn’t want us to tell Hotch she’s capable of all that. Doesn’t want to make the old man feel bad”.
“He’s not old. He’s only 5 years older than you”, you remind her. She puts a hand on her chest in mock offense like you’ve stabbed her. You roll your eyes. “And this is still inappropriate”.
“So it wasn’t Hotch”, Derek laughs.
“You’re just annoyed because you haven’t tried it yourself”, you deflect, moving to sit next to Spencer who seems to actually be doing his job.
“I’ve seen her do yoga and she’s very flexible, so if she couldn’t do it I don’t think you can”, JJ tells Morgan.
“Oh you have no idea what I’m capable of”, he teases, which earns laughs from around the table. “I’m better than the old man for sure”. They all start laughing and talking about you and Hotch.
You roll your eyes. “Wasn’t old in bed last night”, you mutter under your breath. You startle at the sound of a book hitting the floor and see Spencer’s bright red face. JJ, Derek and Emily look over in curiosity at what they might have missed, but you ignore them, attempting to give Spencer an apology for making him uncomfortable. He moves to drink his coffee in an attempt to avoid more of the conversation. Only he chokes on it because Hotch enters the room.
“Have you finished working out the code?”
Everyone’s heads snap to him - JJ, Emily and Derek wearing matching grins. Hotch eyes you patting a coughing Spencer’s back.
“Are you alright?”, he asks.
“Yes! Good! I’m good!”, Spencer squeaks, afraid Hotch is going to ask him why he’s so nervous. Aaron looks to you for some answers but before you can tell him it’s nothing, Spencer suddenly stands up.
“Got the code! Going to call the local PD. DA is waiting”, he warbles before you all watch him run out of the room. Hotch turns back to the rest of you.
“Well then that wraps it up. Go home now, get some rest”, he instructs. Everyone starts packing up. You and Hotch walk towards the door when he realises there’s only 6 of you in the room.
“Where’s Dave?”, he asks.
You’re about to tell him Rossi went to the bathroom when the Italian walks back in. Rossi immediately notes the paused video.
“Wow that looks uncomfortable”, he remarks. Everyone smirks in your direction. Hotch snakes an arm around your waist and looks at the screen. Then at you.
“It was, wasn’t it?”
He smiles at the jaws dropping to the floor.
“Good night everyone”.
—————————
A little bonus scene:
In his office later:
“You heard us talking before you came in the room didn’t you”, you question your husband. He was so private, he wouldn’t have said something like that otherwise.
“They called me old”, Aaron grumbles, but his tone is amused. “Just wanted to shock them a little”.
You make your way over to his side of the desk, pulling him to stand up beside you.
“Well Agent Hotchner, I have to tell you, there’s been some speculation about your performance”, you taunt. “Care to prove them wrong?”
Last night wasn’t enough proof?”, he laughs raising an eyebrow. You run your hands up his chest and behind his neck, pulling him close.
“The results were inconclusive”, you tease. He grabs your hips and traps you between himself and his desk, his mouth trailing kisses down your jaw.
“Well I can’t have that kind of speculation going around”, he murmurs into your skin. Your breath hitches from the sensation of his lips on the sensitive spot on your neck. But instead of continuing, he pulls away and meets your eyes in a conspiratorial grin. “We should do an in house evaluation as soon as possible”.
You open your mouth to reply when the door swings open, Spencer finding you sandwiched between Hotch’s thighs and your blouse rumpled. His mouth drops open and suddenly all 187 iq points mean nothing when his brain loses function.
“Oh- I- um- sorry!”, he manages before running away. You stare at the slammed door then back at Aaron and burst into giggles. He drops his head to your shoulders and sighs.
“I feel like a teenager”, he groans.
“At least you don’t feel old.”
—————————
Bonus bonus:
Still in the conference room:
“I want to go back to 10 minutes ago when I didn’t know this information”, Emily moans.
“I think I need 5 more minutes before I can form a coherent thought”, JJ laughs in disbelief. Spencer walks back in.
“I finished my report. Where’s Hotch and y/n? Can we go home?”
“Probably doing it in his office for all we know”, Derek mutters.
Spencer’s brows furrow in confusion. “Doing what in his office?”
Rossi raises an eyebrow at Emily. “Is this kid serious?”
She shrugs back at him.
“Spence, Hotch says we can go home. But you should probably report about what local PD told you before you go”, JJ tells him.
Spencer nods and makes his way to Hotch’s office. The rest of the team watch him walk away.
“You think we should have told him to knock before going in?”
“Probably.”
The sound of a high pitch yelp and the slam of an office door echo down the hallway.
“Oops.”

Oblivious - A. Hotchner x Reader
Request: Hotch x bau reader where hotch has feelings but reader is completely oblivious?
Word count: 2k
A/N: this is a rewrite of a fic from like 5 years ago, if you want to check out the original here to see how much has changed. Feel free to leave requests! PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK IN COMMENTS OR ASKS PLS i need to know if I'm still writing like I'm 14 😭.
The line. There was always a line. A line between good and evil. A line between love and hate. A line between professional and personal. That was a line you loved to flirt with, to teeter on, to play with like it was your favorite toy. Of course, you shouldn't be flirting with your boss, but when he was stood there, in that suit that highlights his shoulders and his wrists and his thighs and oh god...
“(Y/N)?” And the way your name came from his lips was like heaven on earth right there. “(Y/N)?” What? A hand lightly brushed against your shoulder as he moved his head to be in eyeline with you. Slight concern in them as he gave you a small smile, sending electric through your body and thoroughly grounding you to earth.
“Yes, I'm sorry, I'm just... tired.” You tried to look anywhere but his eyes as you so desperately tried to cover the train of thought that had your skin buzzing and your heart racing. You glanced at his hand on your shoulder as he took it away, wanting to whine at the loss of contact.
Flirting with your boss was your own self sabotage. But you relished it every time. Every touch he missed. Every glance he didn't see. Every time your heart rate sped up as you saw him leave his office. He didn't notice any of it. And it made you want him all that much more. You should've been glad. Ecstatic even. Because once he realized you liked him, in a way he didn't like you, in a way no subordinate should ever like their boss. That line would be crossed. And no amount of ‘I'm sorry’ or ‘let's forget about it’ could undo it.
Morgan and JJ stood a length away, taking in the scene in front of them. You, absentmindedly playing with your hair, a sign of flirting. And him, fiddling with his hands as he looked into your eyes whilst you spoke.
-
“Do you think they’ll ever notice the other is so head over heels for them?” JJ stated, watching you two with a look that's usually only reserved for Henry when he doesn't understand what he did wrong, or when Emily is openly talking about someone right behind her. A grimace more like.
“Nope.” He started, popping the ‘p’. “They've been doing this dance for too long; I'm starting to think it's never gonna happen.” He tutted and tried to take his eyes off... whatever was happening over there.
-
“You look nice today, by the way. You do every day, but you know.” His attempt at flattery didn't go amiss as you smiled bashfully.
“Thank you, so do you. I enjoy this side of you much more, the happier side. Is this some new technique to raise team morale?” You quirked an eyebrow as you smiled at him, desperately trying to quell the faint blush on your cheeks.
His smile faltered slightly. Right. The team. It's been years since he flirted with anyone and clearly, he must be doing something wrong if you're thinking of him and the team. Every day he saw you. And every day he just wanted to throw caution to the wind and hold your hand, touch your face, stroke your hair. Feel you. Gently. Fully. Months. Months of slight flirts and fleeting touches and he feels no closer to being with you now than when you first joined the team. How one of his best profilers could miss something that was right there, he would never know. He was sure he was getting to the point where he looked pathetic. Rossi had even mentioned it to him, a late night in his office over a bottle of scotch. ‘I'm starting to question your profiling skills Aaron, if you two could see what everyone else sees, you'd know there's no question about what happens next with you two’. But here he was, trying his best to put his heart on his sleeve, and even that wasn't working. Or maybe it was, and you knew, and you were simply saving him the embarrassment of rejection.
A cough broke him away from his thoughts. He looked at you as you nodded your head towards your nosy team members, who stood absentmindedly watching the two of you. He copied your cough and looked pointedly at his team.
“Back to work.” He said firmly, turning to touch your arm and give you a small smile before returning to his office. Your cheeks heated as you stared at the spot on your arm, slowly walking back to your desk. You sat in your chair, thoughts going a mile a minute and you sighed, pulling your files closer.
“Oh, Hotch your just so dreamy!” Morgan lays his hand dramatically on his forehead, attempting to mock you.
“Oh (Y/N), you look absolutely ravishing today.” Emily came over to join in the teasing, doing her best Hotch impression.
“What are you two idiots yapping about?” You looked up at the scene, laughing inwardly at their antics.
“Cmon, Hotch is so into you!” Came from JJ as she giggled softly. “And I'm willing to bet the feeling is reciprocated.” She tugged at your cheek, pointing out the obvious blush dusting them.
“Okay, we’re all bullying me, stay mad.” You tried to joke but they all gave you pointed glares like you were the stupidest person in the world. “He is not into me! He just wants someone in this office to actually do their work.” You giggled before pulling all your files together. You pushed your chair back and stood up to deliver your files for the day.
“Keep telling yourself that, Sugar!” Derek shouted as you walked away, receiving an unceremonious middle finger in response.
You jogged up the stairs to Hotch's office, raising your hand to knock on the door, finding it already open. Your heart hummed against your chest at the thought of him hearing the ‘workplace gossip’. Well, can it really be gossip if it's true?
“I have the files you wanted.” You held them close to your chest as you absentmindedly played with the small pieces of paper sticking out. The tension in the office was palpable. The same tension that hung over you when you looked a little too long, or smiled a little too brightly.
His head snapped up at your voice and he broke out into one of those very rare Aaron Hotchner smiles TM. “You can just put them there.” He pointed to his desk, trying to shield his face that sported the same bright pink as you. As you approached, he begged to every god on earth you couldn't hear his heartbeat threatening to break out of his ribs. There was a beat of silence as you put the files down. You knew you shouldn't linger, but you couldn't help it. Youd do everything in your power to look at him a second longer each time he leaves. He looks up at you. He really looks at you. Eyes so bright whilst still working a job like this. Plump lips being gently bitten between your teeth. That conversation, outside. A conversation he never should've heard. This was his in.
“They are right you know.” Your head lifted gently, taking you away from whatever thoughts lingered. Your eyebrows knitted together as a nervous smile and quizzical look painted your face. He stood and moved around his desk toward you. “i am ‘so into you’.” He tried his best to keep his earth shattering confession as light hearted as he could, rolling his eyes a little at the end of his sentence. He sucked in a breath as your face didnt move an inch from the shocked look plastered on it. God. This was the worst idea ever. He could already feel the anxiety and the nervousness and the everything, trying to claw its way out of his throat. His usual stoic look must have faltered, as he felt you lay your hand on his arm, breaking through his layer of despair.
“Hotch.” Your eyes softened as you looked at him, and your eyes closed lightly, a blush spreading on your cheeks. It felt like this wave of emotion had hit you and you just wanted to cry. The line. It had been crossed, and it was so utterly terrifying, and felt so fucking amazing.
He had obviously mistaken your soft tone as one of pity, of rejection. He stuttered slightly and turned his back to you, flushing deeply. He babbled, about how ‘sorry’ he was, and how we should ‘just forget he said anything’. God, he had taken risks in his life, but this was possibly the most, stupid, miscalculated, inconcieve-
“Hotch!” Your raised voice broke him out of his spiral as he turned to face you once more. You moved toward him and lightly pushed a stray hair from his forehead. He so desperately wanted to lean into your touch. “Whatever is going on in that pretty little head of yours, at least let me finish what i was saying.” He shook his head lightly, like he was trying to shake his thoughts away, as he gazed into your eyes for the first time since his confession. “I'm totally into you too.” You mirrored his earlier words with a slight giggle. And just like that, a wave of emotion erupted in him. He breathed deeply, not realizing he was depriving himself of air waiting for your answer.
He moved to softly run his thumb over your cheek as he gazed at you lovingly. “I've been wanting to tell you for so long. I tried flirting but I figured I just wasn't very good because you hadn't realized.”
“Stop. I've been doing the same thing!” You gently dropped your head to his chest, laughing incredulously at the stupidity, that two very intelligent profilers had missed all of this. So oblivious. Both wrapped in their own little world of desperate pining.
“How about i take you on a date? I could definitely use some time away from this office.” He lifted your chin gently, so you were looking into his eyes.
“I couldnt think of anything better” You gazed at him, happiness threatening to burst your heart into two.
Bonus
Through the large office window, the 5 profilers stood, huddled around your desk, staring intently, like it was the finale of their favorite rom-com. They all sighed a huge breath as they saw you lay your head on Aaron's chest, all turning to eachother with the most shit-eating-grins.
“I think, Reid and Morgan owe me 20 bucks.” Rossi smirked as JJ and Emily burst into laughter. Morgan hit himself on the cheek playfully with a little ‘ouch’ before rooting through his pocket for a 20. Reid had tried to argue ‘as Hotch's best friend, of course you'd understand him the best’ But it was to no avail, as Rossi just stuck his hand out and gave him an unconvinced look. He sighed and rooted through his pockets.
After much laughter and gossip, they all turned back to see you placing a chaste kiss on his cheek and hurrying out of his office. They caught him lifting a hand to where you had kissed. Upon realizing his blinds were open, he promptly shut them, trying his best to plaster his intimidating look back on his face. You stopped at the top of the stairs as you realized all eyes were on you. You coughed and tried to indignantly hide the blush that coated your cheeks.
“Back to work.”

B is for Boy Genius?
july 23, 2008
summary: You outsmart Spencer in one of his most talented subjects: Poker. Derek officially removes his "Boy Genius" title, effectively aggravating sans-poker-champ Spencer. And someone is a little hot when he's angry...
word count: 2k
warnings: none really, some friendly bullying of Spencer by Derek but nothing that isn't normal in the show.
“Straight flush.” Spencer says with a grin. He’s been in the BAU going on 5 years, and has yet to be beaten at poker by anyone.
“Oh, Spencer,” you lean in toward him and flatten your cards on the table. “Royal. Flush.”
“What? No way.” He speaks before he can even look at your cards. “Oh my god.”
“How’s it feel to be beaten at your own game?”
“I want a rematch. Outside dealer.” He passes the deck to Derek, who is sitting at his desk across the aisle.
“Pretty boy got beat, huh?” Derek says, beginning to shuffle the cards. He deals them out, planting a little kiss on the last card he hands you. “Good luck, sweetheart.”
Sweetheart is what Derek has called you since you joined the team. At first you thought it was a little weird, but by now you’re used to it. And to be honest, it’s one of the more normal names he calls his coworkers. So you lucked out there.
You see Spencer smirk, he probably has a good hand. Well, maybe not. He’s always had a pretty good poker face, no pun intended.
“What’s going on?” Rossi says as he makes his way out of his office to see Derek, JJ, and Emily all surrounding you and Spencer.
“Oh, pretty boy and girl genius here are having a poker-off.” Derek says. That’s the first time you’ve ever been called girl genius, it makes you feel a small tingle in your stomach. You look up at the former boy genius in front of you, he’s got a rosy blush on his cheeks and spreading across his nose and down his neck. His pupils have dilated. Oh... Maybe he’s just nervous. . .
“Spencer here just lost his first poker game.” Emily says, giving him a pat on the shoulder. It makes him jump.
“First and only.” Spencer testified. He clenches his jaw, making a small dimple appear. “Full house.” He slams his cards down and looks toward you with a smile.
You click your tongue. Rossi has now appeared and is watching from behind Spencer’s shoulder. Locking eyes with him, you slide his cards to the side. “Four of a kind.” you say as you sit each card down one by one.
Spencer’s eyes all but come out of his skull. Derek erupts in laughter, “Dethroned,” he manages to say. He ruffles Spencer’s hair. “How’s it feel having a new genius around?”
“I’m impressed.” Spencer tells you, ignoring Derek’s provoking remarks. “Where’d you learn that?”
“Oh you know, picked it up during my college years.” You say, shrugging your shoulders and giving him a half-mouthed smirk.
The crowd of your coworkers fades out, and everyone gets back to work. Your desk being directly across from Spencer’s, you see him studying the cards through the pile of binders and Manilla folders between the two of you.
“I still can’t believe you won. Twice,” he looks up from his desk to say.
“You just can’t give up the crown, can you, Spence?” You respond.
_____
You get up from your desk to go get your lunch from the breakroom. With a morning filled with poker and getting a solid new nickname, you’ve worked up quite an appetite. Upon opening the door, you bump shoulders with JJ, who is making her way out.
“Woah there, girl genius,” she says. “Watch where you’re going there.”
“Sorry JJ, the genius doesn’t come equipped with self-steering.” You joked.
Spencer is standing at the counter stirring a coffee. His head turned toward you as you walked in the room, causing him to lose control of his hands and the coffee-coated spoon went flying.
“Nor hand eye coordination.” Emily laughs from the table in the corner.
“Shut up.” Spencer mumbles, wiping the small mess he made up with a paper towel. “You know, the average win rate for professional poker players is only 47%.”
“Well, as of right now, y/n’s is 100.” Emily pats his shoulder once again as she walks past him and out the door, leaving you and Spencer alone.
“I don’t understand why everyone is making such a big deal of this little poker thing.” He says, a little annoyed.
You walk behind him and open the fridge. “It’s all in good fun, Spence. We all know you’re still the smartest by a long shot.”
“No, that’s not what I mean. Like, why has everyone been bringing it back up. I lost a game, big deal.”
“I think everyone is just surprised is all. I mean, you haven’t lost a game in five years, Spence. That's a long time.”
“Not really. Considering most of the people here are in their thirties, that’s only 1.5% of their life-“
You interrupt him. “But, they’ve only worked here since they were about 25, making that their entire time here.”
Spencer’s mouth drops wide open. He cannot believe you caught that. Especially before him. “I- Wow. I guess you’re right." He looks defeated, tensing his shoulders and taking a heavy breath.
"You're still the smartest person I know, Spence." You try to make him feel better. The corners of his mouth turn up in what would not quite be classified as a smile. "And the whole team agrees with me, they're just trying to get under your skin."
He giggles and makes a disgusted face. "Ew. You didn't have to word it like that, y/n. I've lost my appetite." He pushes his coffee away and grins.
You quickly grab a straw from the small four compartment organizer to your right, sticking it in the cup and taking a sip out of it. You swallow, blinking aggressively. "Spencer, how many sugars did you put in here?" He'd been autonomously opening and pouring in sugar packets since the conversation began.
He glances in the small garbage bin beneath his feet. "Um, thirteen." He says, pressing his lips together forming the "white people" smile.
_____
You walk in the office slightly later than your normal time. You took a detour to the local supermarket in order to pick up some yogurt for lunch, getting sidetracked by a t-shirt you found on the end-cap of an isle.
You grabbed the t-shirt and two bottles of coffee and hurried to the register, completely forgetting the yogurt you made the trip for in the first place.
As you reach your car, you toss your knitted bag, now filled with coffee and a t-shirt, into your passenger seat and quickly climb inside.
The office is about 2 minutes from the supermarket. As you drive, you play with the fabric of the black shirt peeking out of the bag. You wonder when you're going to have a chance to put it on.
As you pull into the parking lot of the BAU, you see Spencer hustling in. He must be running late. Odd. He was never late. Never. You saw Spencer’s rare fault as the perfect moment, and slipped your sweater off in the driver’s seat of your car. You slid the black tshirt over your bra, pulling the button up sweater over your shoulders and fastening all but the top button. You grabbed your bag, sliding it over your left shoulder and exited your car, shuffling in.
You met Spencer at the elevator, unsure how you both got there at the same time as he’d entered the building a good two minutes before you.
“Good morning, Spence,” you said and smiled at him.
“Mornin’, y/n. How are you?” He responded.
“I’m good, how about you?”
“I’m okay, I was running late this morning and didn’t have time to get my coffee, but other than that I’m doing well.”
You thought about the glass bottle in your bag. You knew grabbing two would be a good idea. You looked up at the tall man, feeling small as he glanced down toward you. “I stopped by the market this morning, I picked up an extra coffee. I was going to just save it for tomorrow, but you’re welcome to have it.”
“Oh, are you sure, y/n? Don’t feel like you have to give up your coffee because I was up all night.”
You wondered why he was up all night. What could’ve been on his mind that kept him up so late? You gestured the bottle over to him, smiling as he took it from your grasp.
“Thank you, y/n. I owe you for this one.”
The elevator door opened and the two of you began walking down the hall to the BAU room. Spencer opens his coffee, a satisfying “pop” sound as the seal of the lid breaks. You pull the glass door open and hold it for him as he takes his first sip. He scurries through and you follow, pulling your own coffee from your bag.
“Well, well, well,” Derek announced loud enough the whole building could hear. “Look who finally decided to show up to work.”
“Shut up,” Spencer retaliated.
“I didn’t know coffee was on the new genius this morning. Where’s mine, y/n?” Derek joked, smirking at Spencer.
You could tell this one stung a little bit. Spencer knew it was all fun and games, but having his one strong suit, in his mind anyways, be taken away from him hurt. You rolled your eyes and hurried over to your desk, sitting your bag down on the files you’d yet to fill out. You looked up, expecting Spencer to be at the table across from you, but he wasn’t. He’d walked away. You sighed and got to work.
Spencer returned about half an hour later, sitting down at his desk without even acknowledging you. He began aggressively writing on his paperwork, so aggressively that his hand veins protruded and knuckles turned white. By the clench of his jaw, you knew he was probably a little upset by the interaction with Derek earlier, so you decided now would be the perfect time to unveil your purchase from this morning.
You stood up, unbuttoning your sweater and slowly worked your way toward Spencer. You grabbed the deck of playing cards from his desk, drawing the man’s attention. He glanced up at you with a slightly raised eyebrow. Leaning down close to his ear, you whispered, “follow me.”
He shivered as the heat of your voice hit the back of his neck, but obliged. You took him up the stairs to the half floor located in front of Hotch’s office. “Just go with it, okay?” You said to him. He looked confused, but nodded in agreement despite.
You loudly cleared your throat, attention from the floor below turned toward you. You held up the deck of cards. You made sure your shirt was visible and gently brushed your side against the man who stood next to you.
“I would like to re-declare Dr. Spencer Reid as certified office genius. After further research, he has proven himself worthy of the title.” You announced to the rest of the team who had their full attention on you. Spencer smiled.
“You’re too kind,” Spencer said, leaning down to take a peek at your shirt that he’d noticed you’d paid extra attention to. He couldn’t quite see it as half of it was wrinkled from the curves of your body and the guard rail was disturbing his view as he leaned forward. He grabbed your shoulders and gently twisted them to face him. His eyes met your breasts, despite knowing he was just reading the vinyl words, you couldn’t help but feel your face heat up a little bit. You knew everyone in the office was watching you guys as well, making you even warmer. Spencer’s cheeks had a small hint of rose to them as well as he mouthed the words on your shirt.
“I’m with genius,” he whispered under his breath. A smile took over his face, but it slowly faded as he realized he was still holding on to your shoulders. He felt his cheeks grow red and he quickly pulled his arms back down to his side.
You opened your mouth to begin speaking, but right when the words were about to come out, the door to Hotch’s office swung open and he came barreling through, files in hand.
“Sorry to ruin the fun guys, but we have a case.”

"Woo, he's kicking. a lot today." JJ exclaims chuckling, hand on her every growing belly.
Spencer looks up from his case file before rambling, "In the third trimester, there is about thirty fetal movements per hour. Babies kick to explore movement and strengthen muscle."
JJ just stares at him dumbfounded, before asking, "Have you ever actually felt a baby kick?" She grabs Spencer's hand and places on the side of her belly, his face showing his confusion. JJ nods, as they both can feel the baby kick. "You feel that?"
"Does that freak you out?" Spencer whispers, quickly looking up at JJ then back down to where his hand was still be pressed to her belly.
"No, not at all." Her face, now showing confusion at his question, before looking at him teasingly. "Why does it freak you out?"
"Very much so," Spencer says as he rips his hand away and brings his attention back to his case file, earning a chuckle out of JJ.
You watch quietly, your own hand on your small baby bump. Your boyfriend of a year just said a baby kicking freaks him out. You couldn't wrap your head around the grossed look on his face while he said it. You didn't know if Spencer wanted kids, it somehow never came up and you were still unsure of when to tell him, but after he said that you weren't sure if anytime would be the right time.
Spencer was happy when JJ announced her pregnancy, but after that he wasn't himself when JJ was around. Always watching her curiously, like he was unsure if being himself was okay to do around the growing baby. He eventually became more relaxed and even did some research on babies, always spouting out information when he could, but he still wasn't fully acting like his adorably dorky self.
The pregnancy was a surprise for you and early on in your relationship with Spencer. You haven't officially told anyone in the BAU about your relationship, Spencer worried about getting in trouble and wanting to look professional. You understood what he meant, and it was easier to hide your relationship out in the field so you wouldn't be used against each other if an unsub caught you. It may have been easy to hide from others, but not the team. They easily found out but said nothing about it. It was killing them not to tease Spencer about it though, but they respected your privacy when you asked them not tell Spencer.
You tried to keep this a secret though but that proved challenging, especially when the morning sickness started. JJ had caught you red handed in the bathroom one morning, while Emily and Penelope figured it out after you declined wine after a tough case, which you never did. Soon Morgan, Rossi and Hotch found out, all promising to keep this a secret too from Spencer. They were all worried that you've yet to tell him and you were already showing, but with the case load being heavy, you've yet to spend any real alone time with Spencer especially since your belly started to grow, which was surprisingly fast.
But now you were really unsure about telling Spencer and Emily could see the frustration on your face when you walked out of the conference room.
-----
Spencer watched as JJ fanned herself with a case file as she rubbed her swollen belly with a small smile on his face, before turning around to realize Emily caught him, a smirk on her face as he tried to play it off like he was just looking around.
"You considering it?" She asks, Spencer looking up at her.
He looked at her, eyebrows furrowing. "Considering what?"
"Having baby geniuses one day." She looks confidently at him before it was replaced with a teasing glint in her eyes.
His face turns to one of consideration before the phone rings and he quickly answers it, glad to have a distraction from the question asked of him.
He didn't understand her question nor the sad look on her face after he dodged her question. She quickly got up while he was still on the phone, his eyes following her as she quickly made her way to you before whispering in your ear. You got up quickly, one hand covering your mouth and another your stomach as you ran to the bathroom, Emily hot on your heels.
Where you alright? Where you sick? Did Emily say something to you to make you so upset? What did Emily say anyways and why did she run right to you after asking him such a personal question.
Spencer didn't want to admit to himself that he did want a family, especially with you. It was still so early on in your relationship and your careers that he didn't want to scare you away with talks about wanting a family. So, he did everything he could to deny his interest.
He just didn't want to lose you.
----
You were avoiding Spencer as the case went on. You knew it wasn't right or healthy but after seeing him showing disgust and zero interest babies, you just didn't know how to approach him. You were being dumb, and Rossi did let you know that.
"My sweet girl, you are starting to show, just tell the kid. You'll figure out what to do, no matter what he says." Rossi gave your hand a small squeeze. He was always soft with you, thinking of you like a daughter, though sometimes you could go without the hard parenting.
Emily reminded you that you all had them no matter if Spencer wanted to be in the picture or not.
You nodded, trying hard not to think about Spencer not being with you anymore. You loved him too much and you didn't want to lose him.
----
You were running top speeds towards the train, somehow beating Morgan to the train's ladder as you climbed up it, making your way to the top before taking off again as you made your way from one car to the next. Morgan was trying to catch up with you, yelling at you to be careful as he let the team know via his head set about what you were doing.
Spencer was worried, he knew you were upset with him, though he couldn't figure out why, but he didn't want you getting hurt, it would be something else you'd have to worry about with whatever he may have done.
"Hotch get her quick, she's too close for my liking!" Morgan yelled out.
"Oh my god, Morgan catch her!" Rossi screamed a second later, Spencer's heart stopped beating for a second waiting for news on if you were alright. Gun shots rang out and Spencer rubbed his hands over his face.
"All clear, we're safe." Morgan's voice rang out a few moments later.
Within the next half hour, he saw you make your way through the double doors, a frustrated look on your face while Morgan, Hotch and Rossi followed behind you, clearly upset and lecturing you.
Spencer ran over to make sure you were okay, but Morgan cut him off, stopping you in your tracks. "You're pregnant and you need to start looking out for the baby not just you." His voice was hard and loud, before continuing, his voice shaky. "If I wasn't there, you and your baby could have been hurt, or worse killed."
Spencer's feet had already stopped and he could feel his jaw slack and opened at Morgan's words. Your eyes grew wide as you saw him standing behind Morgan stunned.
"Oh Spencer..." You whispered before he took off running. You ran behind him, ripping your vest off as it constricted your belly.
You headed out into the night, the warm air slapping you as you came out of the cool building. "Spencer! Wait!" You yelled out, your legs still shaky from almost falling off the ladder of the caboose train before Morgan caught you.
Spencer suddenly stopped, almost causing you to run into him before he suddenly turned around and looking at you through tear filled eyes. His body shook and he went to point at you before bringing his hand down to his side. "Your pregnant?" His voice was barely a whisper but still strong.
All you could do was nod.
"How long have you known?"
You gulped, your eyes barely reaching his. "I'm a little over four months along."
"You've known for that long and you haven't told me?" He was furious now, tears streaming down his face as he stared at you.
You shook your head, tears starting to fall. "I didn't know how to tell you. You haven't shown any interest in wanting kids." The next part, you whispered, not wanting to think about the look he gave to JJ's moving belly. "You said it freaked you out."
He looked at you confused before his face softened as he looked at your broken face, tears falling down your face as you stared at the ground. He took a step forward before wrapping you in his arms. "Baby, no. I-I just said that and acted weird because I didn't want to scare you away with talks about wanting a family." You sobbed into his chest at that part, your short arms circling him. "I want nothing more than to be with you, start a life with you and have little geniuses running around." He chuckled, using what Emily had used to talk about his babies. Now he realized what she was hinting at.
You were pregnant. He was upset with you for hiding it, but he couldn't blame you for not knowing how to tell him, especially with how he acted. He stroked the back of your head, planting little kisses in your hair. "Are you sure you want to be a dad right now?"
He chuckled at how cute your mumbling in his chest was. He pulled away, putting both hands on the side of your face, forcing you to look at him, his smile wide. "Y/N, I couldn't think of a better time."
A smile crept onto your face, before he brought his lips to yours. "Thank you. I'm sorry I kept it from you." He just shook your head.
"There is nothing to apologize for, except for the amount of stress you put me under tonight going after that unsub." You laughed as you pulled him back into a hug. "Promise me that you'll be safer?"
"I promise." You mumbled, sleepiness starting to get to you.
After a few moments of silence, he pulled away from you, his eyes soft with curiosity. "Um- can I feel?" He looked and nodded down towards your belly.
You giggled at his nervousness as you finished taking off your vest, your hand naturally resting on the small bump that was showing through your tight tank top.
His hands shakily came to your sides as he knelt down before giving your belly a kiss then introduced himself as your baby's daddy, making you laugh aloud. A small movement in your belly stopped you, Spencer and you slowly looking at each other with wide eyes before you jumped up and down shrieking with joy, the team coming out of the station, worried something happened.
They watched as Spencer picked you up, twirling you around both of you laughing and shrieking with excitement at the growing life inside of you. Their smiles growing as they made their way over to the two of you to celebrate.
Spencer twirled you again as you kissed him before pulling back to look into each other's eyes.
I'm never letting you go, you both thought.

Hotch with a totally shy medical examiner!!! He always visits her although sometimes it would‘nt be necessary ... 🫣🫣 Hotch got a crushhhhhh !!
The team notices that Hotch seems to be injuring himself more and more now that Quantico has a medical wing installed. Because of a rather unfortunate incident on floor 4, where a woman had an allergic reaction and no one was able to find her an epipen in time, there's now a mini-clinic located just across the elevators on floor 5.
Hotch doesn't even bother notifying his team of where he's going this time. He simply barrels towards the glass doors that shield the BAU from the hallway outside, but JJ doesn't let him escape that easily.
"Hotch, is everything okay?"
She expects him to say that there's been some sort of emergency at Jack's school, that he needs to pick the boy up. But she shouldn't, she should have expected what must be the most frequent phrase out of his mouth in the past three weeks.
"Fine. I've got a headache, I'm going to the clinic."
He offers no room for his team's replies as he pushes through the glass doors, standing by the elevators and waiting impatiently. His gaze is so intense on the metal doors that he's surprised he doesn't burn right through them, but the elevator finally reaches him, and he steps inside without looking back into the BAU to see his team members staring.
"He's so full of shit," Derek scoffs, "He doesn't have a headache."
"I think he's got a perpetual headache," Reid muses, and Rossi, who'd been working on stirring his third cup of coffee for the day pipes up.
"I would, if I had to manage you bozos all day," The man grins wryly, but doesn't exclude himself from the conversation; for all his teasing, he wants to gossip about Hotch too.
"Nah. He just wants to see the hot nurse," Derek insists, "I've seen her. She's cute, and all, but she's no Savannah."
"Maybe I should have a headache later," Emily muses, lost in thought and toying with the necklace resting on her chest.
"He's gonna have to start finding new excuses," Derek leans back in his chair, one leg crossed over the other with his ankle against his knee, "Maybe he'll ask one of us to shoot him just so he can get her hands all over him packing up the bullet hole."
"And that is my cue to leave," Rossi grimaces, "I don't often like mixing sex with wound care."
The older man pointedly ignores Derek's comment about how that's probably why he's thrice divorced; he's not freaky enough. He shuts his office door behind him and conversation putters out among the bullpen, each agent stuck with a residual smirk on their faces as they get back to their paperwork.
--
"Agent Hotchner," You smile kindly up at the man who steps through the doors of your clinic, "I'm not sure why I even looked up, I should have known it was you."
He chuckles bashfully, hands tucked into his pockets, "I haven't been getting much sleep lately, so I've got a pretty persistent migraine."
"Is it hard, sleeping after a day at your job? The things you see," You trail off, reaching into a drawer at your desk to retrieve a bottle of excedrin, "I don't think I'd be sleeping either."
Aaron's suddenly flustered by your concern for him. He'd intended for his poorly crafted excuse to come across as light insomnia, too much coffee during the day or a scary movie at night. But as you reach out to hand over two tablets of medicine, he meets your eyes with a fond gaze.
"I'm alright," He assures you, his voice soft and earnest. He touches you more than necessary, taking your loose fist in his hand and uncurling your fingers for you so that the excedrin falls into his other palm bumped up against the heel of your hand.
You're surprised your hand doesn't start sweating at how flustered you've become, but you're glad for it. He secures the medicine in his fist, his hand still humming with the ghost of your touch.
"Sleep tonight," You warn him with a slightly weak voice, watching as he downs the pills with a gulp of water from a delicate paper cup stored by your sink, "Get off of any electronic devices for an hour before bed, read something boring, and keep the lights dim. And if none of that works, take sleeping pills, I can give you Tylenol PM if you don't have any at home."
"I'd love some," He smiles, lingering by the edge of your desk, "Thank you, Doctor."
"You can call me Y/N," You avert your eyes to your desk drawer, your voice feeble, "We see each other every day, you ought to be more familiar with me than that."
He chuckles, a soft exhale that sends butterflies with it into your stomach. You offer him the pills and again he takes your hand in his own, only making the fiery heat that burns at your cheeks more intense.
"Thank you. And you can call me Aaron," He takes the pulls from you, tucking them into the breast pocket of his button-up.
"Goodbye, Aaron," You grin, barely able to stop the expression from growing an embarrassing amount.
"Bye Y/N," He smiles back, eyes glimmering with fondness, "See you next time."

💐💐💐
imagine being a kindergarten teacher who meets reid
maybe its thru JJ, maybe you've got Henry in your class, and she kindly, warmly strikes a friendship with you after Henry moves into 1st grade. and its a little unorthodox but jj and her husband are always willing to help out (when their schedules can allow) with school events and so yeah, you become friends.
and when jj introduces you to her friends/colleagues - there is of course a little bit of an intimidation factor (because hello...they are fbi) but penelope makes you feel so welcome (because of course she does. and you tell her your students would love her. and she offers to teach a tech class and youre like ok they're five but yes let's do it) and morgan shamelessly flirting, and emily being hot and intimidating and then there's reid, quiet, awkward, wont-shake-your-hand reid.
but there's something to it - a mutual nerdiness, perhaps, or how reid doesn't make you feel "stupid" just because you're an elementary school teacher and not a professor at a college (despite the fact that in many places you need a least a master's to teach).
imagine weeks later when you run into reid at the coffee shop. completely random. the sky is gray, uninteresting, and promising rain. he surprises you by remembering your name before there's a shy yet earnest quip when he says he's got an "eidetic memory." and you laugh warmly and spencer thinks its one of the best sounds he's heard all morning.
and it goes slowly from there, but it moves naturally, like a caterpillar forming its chrysalis
(when you tell reid this, somewhere after the 4 month mark since you've long stopped counting individual dates, he says; "did you know the word comes from the greek word 'khrusos' - which means gold - because of the gold color or metallic sheen of some pupae".
and in that moment, that singular moment, you admire the honey-gold tint of his eyes in the late afternoon sun spilling luminescence across the sidewalks and across shiny car windshields and think that you could already see the shape and color of whatever butterfly that was going to burst from its cocoon).
one time you refused to come over his apartment because "the kids used glitter today" and you didn't want to get it all over his place. so he came over instead, and you watched the iridescent sparkles swirl down the bathtub drain together.
imagine spencer reid laying his head in your lap, something heavy and unspoken between you, shaped in the spread of his fingers across your hips, in the erratic pulse of his heart pressing into your shins
the school doesn't celebrate Halloween, but they have an annual "trunk or treat" where people CAN dress up and trick-or-treat out of the trunks of their cars and spencer starts helping you, decorating the trunk with fake cobwebs, and skulls, and eventually diving into convoluted themes that you're not convinced kids aged 5-10 are totally going to get.
"it's jaws." he says, holding a shark head made of paper mache, "you know, the 1975 film? you said we couldn't do slasher horror movies because they're too gory for the kids but i'd argue that this movie stands alone as a great horror film with how Spielberg creates consistent tension throughout the whole film considering we don't see the shark until an hour and twenty-one minutes into the run time."
(the kids don't really get it, it's true. "sharks aren't monsters." they would say, or "sharks aren't scary." or "is this from Baby Shark?" but you and spencer have fun, passing out candy, sharing small looks to each other--so that makes it all worth it).
imagine something soft, sweet, something quiet shared over coffee with spencer. something gentle amidst all the chaos, the heartache, and stress of his day-to-day job.
"I don't know how you do it," you tell him, "seeing the worst of what the world has to offer day in and day out."
his long fingers stroke the underside of your jaw, "i don't know how you manage a room full of fifteen 5 and 6-year-olds." he pulls a face. "especially with the germs."
imagine bringing spencer lunch at the office - earning the knowing, sly looks from his friends and team, knowing you can't hide against a room full of profilers and knowing it doesn't really matter anyways.
:) ok that's all i got. <3

When Green Turns Red
Emily Prentiss/Reader
Rating: Mature (18+)
Chapters: 5/?
Words: 1236
Categories: Angst, Jealousy, Hurt/Comfort, Violence, Eventual Smut
Emily hasn’t moved from that spot, torn between the urge to see you and the feeling that you were better off without her. She’s not sure how long she sits there warring with her emotions before JJ is suddenly standing in front of her.
“She’s awake,” JJ says shortly.
Emily’s head shoots up. “Is she okay?
JJ gives Emily a look that makes her want to turn away in shame. “What do you think?” Emily hangs her head and JJ sighs in exasperation. “The first person she asked for was you, Emily. She had barely opened her eyes and she was saying your name. Where the hell were you?”
“I didn’t think she’d want to see me,” Emily whispers.
“Well she did,” JJ says, not bothering to sugar-coat her words.
Emily shakes her head, “I can’t. All I’ve done is hurt her. It’s better if I stay away.”
“Better for who?”
Emily stutters, “For her.”
JJ swallows down her frustration, “That’s not your choice to make, Emily. If you don’t want to see her, then fine. But don’t try to make it that you’re doing her a favour.”
Emily blinks away tears of shame. JJ looks at her and sighs. “I know these past few days have been hell. For all of us, but especially for you,” she places a hand on Emily’s back, “but she’s here. She’s alive,” JJ gives her an imploring look, “don’t let that go to waste.” JJ squeezes her shoulder and Emily watches her leave, the echo of her words hanging in the air.
JJ’s right. Emily almost lost you forever. The memory of holding your body as you clung to life washes over her. She remembers thinking she would do anything to bring you back to her. Now she sits here wallowing in her own guilt and shame, instead of being there for you.
Her legs start moving on their own accord, leading her straight to you. She doesn’t linger in the doorway this time but heads straight for your bedside. Quietly, she sits down in the chair next to you, eyes roaming your sleeping face. Gently, she reaches out, tracing the cuts and bruises on your cheek with her fingertips.
You stir at her touch, eyes fluttering open. They widen when they find Emily’s, unsure if you’re dreaming or not.
“Emily?” you whisper. Her eyes fill with tears and she leans forward, hand hovering as if she’s unsure if she’s allowed to touch you, “you’re here.”
The disbelief in your voice makes Emily's heart ache with guilt. “I’m here,” she reassures.
Tentatively, you reach out a trembling hand, searching for her. Emily hesitates for a moment, before finally meeting your touch. Holding your cold hand in her warm one, a wave of relief rushes through her at the contact. She tightens her grip, as if you’ll slip away again.
“Where were you?” Your voice shakes.
Emily tenses at the question, the shame of having to explain her actions rendering her speechless. When the silence lingers, and Emily remains answerless, you pull your hand from hers.
“You don’t have to be here,” you say in a quiet voice, “it’s fine Em, really.”
Emily sees the tears in your eyes as you turn your head in an effort to hide them, and her heart feels like it’s breaking all over again. “Hey, look at me,” she pleads, prying your hands free from where they clutch the blanket. When you refuse to make eye contact, Emily reaches forward, placing a hand on your cheek and gently turning your face towards her.
At the feeling of her touch your mask falls, as do the tears in your eyes when they make contact with hers. Emily cradles your face in her hands, “I’m here,” she says, “I don’t want to be anywhere else.”
You place your hands over hers, holding them against your chest. The pain in your eyes fills Emily with remorse, knowing that she’s the one that put it there. Once again, she starts to doubt whether she’s doing the right thing by being here.
She lowers your joint hands, eyes following them to where they now rest on your lap. “If you want me to leave, I’ll understand,” she says quietly.
You quickly shake your head at her words, then wince at the pain. “Careful,” Emily chastises, and your cheeks turn pink as she fusses over you.
“Please don’t go,” you say softly, answering her previous question. Emily stops her fretting over you, the tenderness in your voice reminding her how she has no right to be here.
“Are you sure? I can go get someone else-”
“I’m sure,” you sound certain, but Emily can’t shake the doubt that plagues her. She must not be hiding her feelings as well as she thinks she is, because your hand tightens around hers, drawing her attention back to you.
“Why don’t you believe me?” Your brows furrow in bewilderment, unaware of the guilt and shame that has kept Emily away from you.
“I do believe you,” Emily quickly reassures, “it’s just…” she trails off, struggling to articulate the internal chaos that torments her.
“Just what, Emily?” you persist, and Emily’s composure finally breaks.
“You’re here because of me!” she snaps, leaping to her feet to pace the room with her head in her hands.
“Emily, no-” you try to object.
Emily spins around, “Look at what happened,” she says, gesturing to the wires and monitors that surround you, to the evidence on your body of the trauma you’ve endured, “it’s because of me you’re in this hospital bed.”
“How could this possibly be because of you? As far as I remember, you weren’t the one who kidnapped and tortured me.”
Emily winces at the flippancy of your words. “You know what I mean.”
She sees you stiffen briefly at the reminder of that night, before you close your eyes and take a breath. “Emily, you don’t need to feel guilty. About anything.”
Emily catches on to the double meaning in your words, and she shakes her head, “Stop! Stop trying to make me feel better, stop trying to convince me that this isn’t all my fault. You almost died, and what I said-” Emily’s voice drops, “you should hate me.”
You watch her pace, the guilt etched onto every line of her body. “I don’t,” you say, voice the strongest it’s been since you woke up.
Emily stops, looking at you with a mixture of hope and disbelief, “Why?” Her voice sounds broken, barely above a whisper.
You pull yourself up on the bed, wincing at the movement. “Because I know you, Em. There’s nothing you could ever do that would make me hate you.” Despite the weakness that still clings to you, the conviction in your voice is unmistakable.
Emily's eyes burn at the declaration, and she stays silent so as not to betray the tremble in her voice.
“Come here,” you murmur, your hand reaching out once more. This time, she doesn’t hesitate. She sits back down, taking her place beside you, her hand fitting into yours like it’s where it belongs.
Looking into your eyes, it takes all her strength not to divulge what she truly feels for you- to explain the truth about why she ended things. Her feelings for you are what put you here in the first place, and she’s not going to let that happen again.

Snowed In

Word Count: 4.4k
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Female Reader
Summary: The entire BAU team decides to take a vacation to snowy Vermont. After a day of traveling together and being the last of the team to show up to the cabin, Spencer and y/n are exhausted and in need of quality time with their friends. When alcohol and games are mixed, Spencer decides to get y/n worked up before sneaking into her room that night to show her what can happen when the sexual tension between them finally snaps.
Warnings: smut, choking, alcohol consumption, others in the house, teasing, sneaking into her room, fingering, oral (female receiving), sexual tension, games (Twister).
A/N: I know it's freshly November but that's close enough to Christmas for me. This idea has been plaguing my brain for literal days now so I just couldn't resist the itch to write this. I also don't want to keep a masterpiece away from you guys especially since I probably won't be able to write for a week after this :(. But, as always, I hope ya'll eat this tf up like I did while I was writing it. <3 Also, I think I like the 3 pic banner so much better than the gifs so I might start doing that :)
THE ICE THAT COATED the sidewalk became a mirror, the concrete beneath twisting into the twin of the gloomy, gray sky above. Y/n's frost-bitten fingers tremble against the ebony wool coat she was wearing tightly wrapped as close to her body as she could possibly pull it. The unrelenting wind bit at her cheeks, her skin raw and burning.
She and Spencer had decided to walk through the cabin's yard rather than risk slipping on the glassy ice, which proved rather asinine as both of their boots and luggage wheels caked in packed snow and mud the deeper into the yard they hiked, slowing their pace. She peered ahead at Spencer under her heavy hood. His chestnut boots a bit more worse for wear than hers, considering he's worn the same ones probably every day of his life.
One hand shoved into his pockets, the other gripped onto the handle of his suitcase so tightly his knuckles blanched. His head dipped against the sharp wind. If she had any energy left by the time they finally reached the cabin's wooden front door, she was going to one hundred percent rub it in his face. They had a negligible argument prior to arriving at the cabin - Spencer completely hellbent on not needing a winter coat, and y/n explaining that Vermont's climate is completely paradoxical to Virginia's at most times of this year.
When they had left Virginia, the sky had been a meager blue, and the wind had grown a bite to it, indicating the impending winter but not intense enough to warrant them to avoid being outside at all costs yet. Temperatures had called for slacks and the usual sweater under a proper coat during their last few cases prior to their very welcomed vacation time. She just wanted to laugh in his face at how right she had been proven in the 5 minutes since they'd parked their rental car in the snow-packed driveway.
When they finally reach the cabin door, Spencer fumbles with the brass knob, his frozen fingers barely able to grasp it enough to twist and open. The door opens without difficulty and y/n almost slams into Spencer's back in an attempt to flee the harsh cold of Vermont.
Y/n hastily shut the door behind her. She and Spencer didn't bother unwrapping any scarves or unbuttoning any coats until they could feel their extremities again as they made their way into the expansive living room, leaving their suitcases by the door. A fresh pine tree lay decorated in lights and garland in the far right corner, the smell of pine welcome in her nose, a large window hiding behind it, climbing halfway up the logged wall before stopping and becoming more logs, with a smaller window on top, shaped to a slope to match the cabin's sloping ceiling.
JJ, Emily, and Penelope sit perched on the chocolate-colored couch to the left of the pine tree turned Christmas tree, wooly sweater sleeves pulled over their hands as they gently hold warm mugs of hot cocoa, most likely.
"You're finally here!" Penelope calls, setting her chipped mug gently on the coffee table just a leg lengths away from the couch. Emily and JJ copy Penelope's actions as they rush over to greet the two latecomers.
"We thought you guys might've gotten stuck or frozen to death or something," Emily explained, engulfing y/n in a hug so tight she thought her lungs might have to escape her body entirely to relieve the pressure.
"With the way Spencer drives, I think we almost got stuck like 4 times," y/n teased, resulting in a malicious side eye from Spencer but giggles from the women in front of her.
"To be fair, we only actually got stuck once. We made it in one piece so I don't see the issue."
Y/n rolled her eyes, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips, the rest of her energy spent on the single ridicule, her mind unable to continue the back and forth.
"The rest of them are in the kitchen," JJ explains, leading them through an archway embellished with fake leaves and fairy lights.
Rossi's back is to them as he pulls a steaming mug from the microwave. When he finally turns to spot y/n and Spencer, the last two team members to make it through the treacherous countryside of Vermont, he places the mug on the kitchen island. "I was just making you guys some cups of cocoa, but it's the packet kind. I would've made it from scratch if I thought I could survive another trip outside."
The team erupted in chuckles, "Yeah, I wouldn't suggest going out there, Rossi. You might freeze on the spot," Morgan laughed.
"Hey, I'm old, but I'm not that old."
Spencer reached delicately for the mug resting on the kitchen island, sliding his fingers through the handle and carefully lifting it as to not spill it over his hand. He turns to y/n and holds out the cup for her.
"I'll take the next one," he smiles. She gives him a sweet smile back as she takes the hot cocoa from him, "Thanks, Spence."
Y/n rose to sit upon a marbled counter, her hot cocoa clutched into her hands, greedy for the warmth it brought to her numbed fingers. Her legs swung, feeling restless despite the exhaustion that weighed her entire body down.
Vacation had began to seem like a myth considering serial killers never cease to kill and each and every person in the kitchen with her had the same mindset when it came to their work. People need us. She can't remember the last time one of her coworkers had taken a vacation or even just a day off as if they were avoiding it like a contagious disease.
She had to admit, it did almost make her feel uncomfortable to think about taking a vacation. She didn't hold much trust in others to do their jobs for them. But, nevertheless, she was grateful to finally have some time to spend with her favorite people doing nothing but watching cheesy Christmas movies and playing board and card games like she was a child again.
With all her might, she pushed down the lingering guilt she always seemed to feel when she wasn't working towards catching a bad guy. Villains always need their heroes, and she didn't like the idea of letting the villains run rampant for too long.
Her internal battle must have shown on her face because Spencer laid a secretive hand over hers as he leaned against the countertop she sat upon. He tilted his face upwards to look at her, silently asking her, what are you thinking about? Spencer seemed to be the one person who could read her like a book, despite y/n keeping the book of her life and emotions locked, shut, and completely hidden away from everyone else.
She shrugged, not important. She diverted her gaze from his, the weight of his causing her mouth to part slightly, wanting to spill everything running through her mind - but she clamped her mouth shut because that is definitely not something she wanted to do in front of her entire team.
She could feel his gaze still on her, reading the emotions on her face like a book, as if he looked long and hard enough, her thoughts would display themselves above her head. "Stop profiling me, weirdo," she whispered, just loud enough for only him to hear.
He rolled his eyes at her, the corners of his mouth threatening to turn up into a smile.
"How was the drive, Spence? It seems like you guys got the worst of this incoming storm," JJ stated, her mug had been retrieved from the living room coffee table and now rested in her cupped hands as she rested her elbows on the kitchen island.
"Dangerous," y/n muttered. Spencer playfully elbowed her. "Hey! You can't tell me you didn't fear for our lives at least once during that drive."
Spencer didn't bother responding, knowing she was right. The drive hadn't been the worst it could've been, but the snow had began flurrying as they arrived to the airport, y/n's hood pulled so far over her head she kept her eyes locked on Spencer's boots in front of her to lead her. The roads were slick with snow and ice, and the winding strip of road leading up to the isolated cabin had not been the easiest or safest to navigate.
"It's a good thing you guys got here before it got too bad, we might have to really get comfortable with each other considering we'll most likely be stuck here longer than we want," Emily suggested. The team nodding in agreement. Y/n was grateful she had remembered to bring every card and board game she could get her little hands on - Monopoly, Cards Against Humanity, even Twister. She couldn't wait to get the team drunk and convince them to play Twister.
"Speaking of, I think it's time we whip out the alcohol and the games," Emily smiled, as if reading the thought directly from y/n's mind, taking a bottle of top-shelf Tequila by the neck and wiggling it in the air.
"Best idea I've heard all day," Rossi stated.
Y/n and her team made their way into the living room, spiked hot cocoa in hand. She relaxed in the middle of the couch after grabbing her Cards Against Humanity box from her suitcase by the door, Spencer to her right and JJ to her left. Rossi and Hotch taking the two reclining chairs and pulling them forward to reach the table. Emily gracefully sitting on a pillow on the floor, Morgan settling for sitting directly on the carpet, and when Spencer attempts to offer Emily his spot, she dismisses him with the wave of a hand and a suggestive glance towards y/n.
Spencer repositioned himself again on the couch, the meaning of Emily's glance fully understood.
Y/n takes the liberty of pulling the cards out of their designated box and separating them into piles scattered across the coffee table, making sure every has access to a pile of white cards. As she finishes, the conversation about who goes first and random rules to add immediately sparks. Considering the instructions clearly read that whoever pooped most recently was to be the one to start.
The conversation turned argument continued on longer than any thought necessary, laughter filling the cabin to the brim. "Well if we're really trying to have a good time, all the losers each round have to drink."
Once in agreement, the team finally quieted as Hotch reluctantly grabbed the black card on the top of the stack in the middle of the table and read it aloud.
Y/n's head began buzzing as they were a fourth of the way through the stack of black cards, the game no where within bounds of stopping. Her limbs finally felt loose from being curled up in a plane and car seat for hours, trying to avoid looking at the snowy danger they had to travel through.
The entire team shed their worries, stresses, and found it in themselves to be in the moment. Everyone had equal amounts of pain lacing their chests and stomaches from laughing too hard at cards played and also equal amounts of disgusted faces and a little bit of gagging after the rules began to increase the more alcohol consumed - they had began ranking everyone's answers by the fourth time around, the person in first being exempt from drinking anything, the person coming in last being required to take a shot instead of a sip of their drink. Y/n seemed to be on a losing streak.
Luckily, her team was too engrossed in the game to notice when she took smaller shots than she was supposed to. She didn't want to be totally inebriated in the first few hours of her first vacation in God knows how long.
Spencer's arm was outstretched on the couch behind her, his other hand holding his cards secretively, knowing that y/n would a hundred percent be trying to take peeks now and then.
Once they had almost completely blown through most of the black stack, y/n ceased the opportunity. "I brought Twister!"
The entire room cheered, and she stumbled over to her suitcase to grab it out. It was quickly set up within a minute and to her distress, they decided to make teams and compete, obviously.
The girls split into a group and the boys into another. Emily and Hotch started first, Emily easily more flexible than Hotch, his leg unable to twist towards the red dot in the corner, resulting in him falling over and a chorus of laughter echoing off the logged walls.
"Spencer, Y/n, you guys should do it next!" Penelope gasped. "You're both so lanky, it'll be a close match."
Y/n's heart beat against her throat and she felt the rush of heat bloom in her neck and rise towards her still raw cheeks. She took a deep breath, not willing to show how much of a reaction she had at the thought of being tangled up with Spencer.
JJ and Rossi finish their round, JJ sneakily leaning into Rossi enough to knock him over, giving the girls a 2 point lead. Y/n and Spencer stroll leisurely towards the edges of the Twister map. An arched brow climbs her forehead, "I hope you're ready to lose."
"In your dreams," he smirks, a mischievous glimmer in his eyes.
As Penelope spins the pointer, she begins to call out body parts and colors. Within minutes, y/n and Spencer are a heap of tangled limbs, her back resting against Spencer's chest as she's bent over to reach her left hand to yellow, Spencer's hand next to hers on green. Her hair obstructs some of the view of the colored circles beneath them but the look of Spencer's flexed, muscular forearm on the side of her head does little to ease her rapidly beating heart. His breath is hot on the nape of her neck, coiling a heat in her middle she desperately attempts to push down.
"I think I enjoy you being under me," he whispers onto the skin of her neck, sending shivers rattling down her spine. As Penelope calls out left hand blue, she racks her gaze around the mat beneath them.
She can practically hear the rush of blood in her ears when she finally sees the blue between her strands of hair. The closet blue dot is down towards her legs, considering her right hand was already on the blue next to her left, requiring her to bend her hips upward. She takes a deep breath and reaches her hand to the spot, her ass rising upward into Spencer's hips.
She can hear the catch of his breath as she tilts upward to get into her position. The next color is called too soon after, resulting in Spencer's right leg moving to the left side of y/n's body, their bodies no longer touching in the way that spooled heat further into her center. Their limbs fight for purchase on different colored spots as the game continues, their teammates shouting at both of them, the game obviously riveting from above, but completely distracting between the two players.
After a few more minutes of twisting her body in ways she never knew she could, her arms trembled as she reached towards a yellow. Refusing to let a man who probably weighed the same as her beat her in a game of Twister, she fought through the shaking of her body and painful stretch of muscles she probably haven't used in years.
She could feel Spencer's body tremble underneath her, placed in almost the same position as before, just on the opposite side this time. "I think I enjoy being on top better," she whispered in the same way Spencer did to her.
His body tensed under hers before he dropped to the floor, crowning y/n the winner of quite literally a battle to exhaustion in a drunk game of Twister.
The women on her team cheered and hugged each other before reaching out a hand to pull her from her spot on the ground in which she collapsed onto right after Spencer did. "That was probably the longest game of Twister in the history of Twister games," Penelope laughed.
Y/n and Spencer plopped onto the couch together, content to watch Penelope and Morgan go against each other from their comfortable spots on the couch. As Emily called out colors and body parts and the teams cheering on their teammates, Spencer leaned over to y/n's ear. "If you're gonna be on top of me I think it'd rather be able to see you."
Her pulse quickened, the heat that as been building inside her since the start of their Twister match is beginning to come to an edge. Get a grip, she chastised herself. They were on vacation with their entire team for crying out loud, now was not the time for flirtatious advancements or sexual tension.
"In your dreams," she murmured, trying to keep the want in her voice caged down, but with the way that Spencer's lips lifted in a smirk told her she didn't do a very good job at it.
"Certainly."
She couldn't get her eyes to leave his face, lowering them to his mouth, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth to keep herself from saying anything stupid.
He noticed her do this and his expression turned hungry as he watched her work her bottom lip between her teeth. It was one of the things that always set him off without her even realizing. Her nervous tic could be taken as flirtatious by someone who doesn't know her. Even though Spencer knows better, it still causes tension inside his pants every damn time she does it.
"If you keep doing that I'm not going to be able to stop myself," he growled lowly.
The sexual tension between y/n and Spencer was almost palpable as the team said their drunken goodnights and stumbled to their respective rooms. Y/n climbed into her bed, pulling the quilt atop her closer to her face. Her thoughts swam, unable to stop them from completely consuming her with thoughts of Spencer - of his body on hers, his breath on her neck, and god damn the stupid comments he made, knowing they were working her up and torturing the hell out of her all night as they continued to play other games with their friends.
Her thoughts fell away, like birds falling out of the sky, as she heard a low sound. She sat up in her bed, trying to adjust her eyes to the darkness swallowing her room, in attempt to see what the noise was. Her door opened gently and a figure quietly stepped through the threshold and shut the door behind them, obviously trying not to wake anyone up.
"Hello?" Y/n called out softly, at first she thought it was Penelope, coming to tell her some new gossip she overheard somewhere. But, it wouldn't make any sense of her to sneak in if she thought y/n was asleep. It most definitely wouldn't have been Hotch, Rossi, or Morgan and the only reasonable explanation for any of them to be in her room is if they mistook her door for a bathroom, but she doesn't believe they'd be that quiet about it. Emily was so inebriated she almost didn't make it to her bed by herself.
A nervousness began in her chest as the figure stalked closer to her bed and didn't answer her. Before she could react, lips met hers hungrily. She gasped into their mouth, an opening they took to their advantage as they slipped their tongue between her lips and battled hers for dominance. She supposed that if this was someone trying to kill her, they wouldn't have kissed her first and damn it was a good kiss.
She allowed the kiss to overtake her senses, small moans rising out of her throat as her bottom lip was taken in between teeth and tugged. When her bedroom intruder finally broke their kiss, they were both panting. "I did warn you I wouldn't be able to control myself," the voice growled. Oh.
"Spencer?" Y/n whispered, "What are you doing?"
"Well I wasn't going to wait for you to come to me," he murmured, dipping his head to her neck, trailing sloppy kisses downward to her collarbones. Her fingers tangled into his soft curls, a moan slipping from her lips as he teased her sensitive skin.
"Shh," he shushes her, his voice vibrating through her entire body. "You don't want anyone to hear, do you?"
"Spence..." she whimpered.
His fingers played with the hem of her tank top, only the thin fabric separating him from her breasts.
"I can't get you out of my head and it's been driving me insane," he muttered against her bare skin, his fingers trailing lightly over her exposed lower abdomen, sending goosebumps over her skin. "I can't stop thinking about that pretty little mouth wrapped around me, or the sound of your moans that I coax out of you in every possible way I can, or the sound of you screaming my name as you come."
Y/n feels breathless at his touch, the skin beneath his lips burning with heat. "Are you okay with this?" He asks after y/n's silence.
"Absolutely," she whimpers. "Don't stop, please."
As if that was his undoing, he tears her tank top from her skin, y/n almost unable to raise her arms up in time to get it over. As soon as her tank top is thrown to the floor, his lips latch onto her peaked nipple and a cry of pleasure gathers in her throat but she clamps her lips shut, not wanting to let anyone hear. He continues to work her nipple in his mouth, using tongue and teeth, mixing pain and pleasure.
Her fingers grip his hair tighter, her back arching to bring his mouth as close as it could possibly get to her exposed breasts. Without budging from her nipple, he removes her pants swiftly, gripping her hips with his hands to swing her under him.
Her eyes can just barely make out his face in the dark hovering above her, her body begging for more. She squirms underneath him, hardly able to contain the desire coursing through her blood. His smile turns feral as he realizes just how badly she wants him to keep going.
He lowers himself antagonizingly slow, leaving soft kisses along her naked body until he reaches her inner thighs. He settles himself comfortably in between her legs as she widens them to give him complete access.
He slides his tongue gracefully through her folds and she lets out a gasp. "I've been aching to taste you," he groans against her center, gliding his tongue from the bottom up again. "You taste fucking delicious."
His pace starts out tame as he saviors every whimper that leaves her mouth and the taste of her on his tongue. Another gasp escapes her as he slips a finger in, wasting no time in gently sliding it in and out, curling it upwards to hit her sweet spot just right. She bucks her hips, riding his tongue and finger as her pleasure builds in intensity, her breathing ragged.
Suddenly, his tongue and finger abandon her and she lets out a whine of disappointment. "Someone's needy," he chuckles lowly. "I'd rather make you come with me buried deep inside you."
Spencer quickly undresses himself and gently lines up with her center. He slides the tip through her folds, making her arch her back towards him, her silent plea.
Without hesitation, he slips inside her and releases a groan. "You're so wet for me," he smirks. She can barely see his face, but she knows he has a smug look on it. It's as if he's known how crazy he makes her, how she has fantasized about this very moment before.
His thrust starts out delicate, like he's afraid he's going to break her apart. She wraps her legs around his waist, an attempt to pull him as deep as possible. "Careful," he growls against her neck as he teases her skin once more. "I don't want to let loose just yet and hurt you."
"What if I like it rough?"
"Tell me how you want it, then." A challenge.
"I want you to fuck me dumb."
"Your wish is my command," he smiles against her skin and immediately latches onto her neck, sucking and pulling on her delicate skin. His hands grip her waist to keep her steady as he pounds into her, the sound of his bare thighs hitting hers. He places a hand on her throat and gently squeezes, as if he knows exactly how she likes it.
"Fuck.." Spencer growls, unhooking her legs from his waist with his available hand and using his weight to lift her legs above her head and driving in deep. Y/n claps a hand over her mouth to keep her screams in, her other hand gripping the sheets so hard her knuckles turn white. "You're taking me like such a good girl."
"Fuck, Spencer," she whimpers under her palm.
"Say my name again."
"Spencer..."
"Louder."
"Fuck, Spencer!" She cries as he hits home, her pleasure reaching it's breaking point hastily.
"Open your mouth," he demands. She releases her palm from over her mouth and opens wide, Spencer wasting no time in sticking two fingers on her tongue. She closes her lips around his fingers and slides her tongue over their length. He groans in pleasure as she continues to tease his fingers.
"Come for me."
Those words were her undoing as she falls over the edge, Spencer following her over and her body releasing the pent up desire. Her entire body trembles as ecstasy floods her.
He releases her legs but stays positioned inside her, face hovering just inches above hers. Their panting breaths tangle with each other in the air between them. "You took me like such a good girl," he coos, cupping her cheek gently and rubbing her heated skin with his thumb.
"Can I tell you a secret?" Y/n whispers, trying to control her wildly racing heart.
"Of course."
"I've thought the same things," she confesses, pulling him by the hair to meet her lips again. "And I hope you're not too tired for another round."
An animalistic smile grows on his face as he pauses their kiss, "I'm going to tear you apart."

Chapter 4
You didn’t go to Quantico today. Not that anyone would notice your absence besides Prentiss and that was fine by you. Let her stew while you figure out what you want. A difficult task since you had no idea what that was without someone telling you what to do. You rarely had the lead on your mission purpose. You could tell Brian what happened to gain some professional advice but decided it is best to keep it to yourself. Think things through for a bit before reaching out. And you were glad that the section chief didn’t contact you.
Not that you were expecting it. Prentiss wasn’t one to make amends so quickly, especially when she felt she was in the right. You respected her motivations for team preservation, but the woman went about it completely wrong.
You were not kind, either. But she provoked you, wouldn’t budge, and too fucking proud to admit she was wrong. You didn’t regret anything you said to her and probably continue being a petulant ass if she contacted you.
So here you were at the Botanical Gardens, sipping coffee from a to go cup you bought at the café, and casually stroll around the exhibits. The fragrance that you greedily inhaled was intoxicatingly calming. There was barely a sound, too, since it was a weekday and you were happy to learn from the cashier that there were no school trips planned for today. For a short time, you can pretend to have the place to yourself as you round the long rectangular pool in one of the exhibits far from the entrance.
Natural light filtered through glass ceiling, illuminating large trees hugged by well-manicured flowers. Wooden benches were tucked between large potted plants, the same ones that were placed around the pool, though on opposite ends were long planters with bright pink flowers that easily caught your eye.
You pause roughly a foot away from the pool and close your eyes, listening to the gentle laps of water hitting the edges. You could almost forget about yesterday’s argument. Eyes still close, you bring the lip of the cup to your mouth and take a healthy swallow while slipping a hand into your jean pocket …
… and felt your phone buzz.
You enjoy pretending nothing was wrong for a moment longer before opening your eyes and pulling the phone free from your back pocket. Should you take bets as to who was messaging you?
To your surprise, it was Rebecca. Did she know what happened?
You take another sip and unlock your phone to read the message,
Wilson sent 1043: Hey! Drinks this weekend?
So, she didn’t know.
Interesting.
A pang of guilt made your stomach ache thinking how the falling out with Prentiss would affect her if you didn’t go back to working with the BAU. The AG went to bat for the two of you when she didn’t have to.
Bailey would love it if you backed out and could resume causing trouble for the team. You couldn’t have that, but you equally couldn’t have Prentiss treating you like shit. Why you didn’t want to make any hasty decisions until you distance yourself further from the time of the fight and figure out what you wanted.
Whitlock sent 1055: Sure. Let me know when and where. Tara going to be there too?
Wilson sent 1057: Yep. We want to hear how things are going.
You sigh and look up at the large leaves hanging over your head.
Whitlock sent 1100: Sounds like a plan
No need to drop any major bombshells until you know what was going on.
Wilson sent 1101: 😊 Great!
And you have a couple of days to figure it out.
Today should have been a good day for the BAU. Tyler Green was apprehended before he could use the kill kit, but it was a clusterfuck of a joint task force with Domestic Terrorism. The BAU had gone after Green and Rossi had refused to call JJ and Luke back when ordered, which pissed Bailey off. But the deputy director had a sniper in place that he failed to mention to them. So, they were all in the wrong and kept secrets from one another since the two divisions didn’t trust either side. Everything settled into place with no casualties, but the fallout was intense.
Bailey’s press conference announced to Sicarius that they were on to him and right after it was over, fired Rossi as unit chief. He then ordered Prentiss to install a new team leader that would report directly to him. So of course, she said fuck that and would work two jobs. He wouldn’t approve of anyone currently on the team, and she wouldn’t approve of anyone else since Bailey would immediately try and manipulate the new member against them.
Emily would always protect her team.
Then a few hours ago, the case grew interesting as the team deduced that Green was Garcia’s informant. He never had any intention of setting off the bomb, already neutralizing the kill kit. The disgraced army veteran was attempting to lure Sicarius out by infiltrating his network so he could kill him for murdering his sister.
One saving grace for Emily is that everyone was on high alert today that no one questioned where you were. She didn’t offer any insight, either. Not that she had any.
You didn’t show up for work and she received no contact from you, nor anything from Langley. Not like she was going to poke that hornet’s nest. Until the issue of you and the contract came up, Emily had real work to do.
Which was a ton of it. More files and paperwork had exponentially piled up on her desk in a matter of hours. The long hours at work were about to double.
“Hey, Emily.”
She looks up with a tired smile towards Rossi as he approaches her desk. “Dave.”
“What a day, huh?” He sits down, folding his hands across his stomach.
Emily partly snorts as she leans back in her chair. “That’s being kind.”
His lips slightly turn upwards to acknowledge the severity of the unspoken truth of the BAU leadership shake up, but he was here for another reason. “You know, I was hoping to speak to Whitlock today.”
“Oh?” she gave away nothing but polite curiosity as to why Dave was interested in you.
“Wanted to finish our conversation from yesterday, but she never came in.” He studies Emily intently.
She doesn’t look away and says nothing to confirm or deny what he said.
“Her desk is clean,” he supplies after motioning over his shoulder towards the couch. “No Diet Coke bottles.”
Emily wouldn’t have guessed your soda addiction would end up being the clue to your absence.
“Wanna tell me what happened?” he presses.
She licks her lips, tapping pen in hand lightly on the desk as she struggles on how to begin.
Rossi chuckles at seeing her inwardly battle on what to say. “Wow. That bad?”
“Yeah,” she nods. “It was.”
“What was the argument about?”
Her face scrunches up as she takes a deep breath before explaining. “Not trusting her.”
His brows raise with admonishment.
“Oh, don’t do that. I have every right not to,” she argues firmly.
“On what grounds?”
“On the grounds that there’s absolutely nothing substantial on record about her.” She shakes her head with contempt. “You know she had legal trouble?” Rossi shakes his head that he didn’t. “That’s how she knows Wilson. Helped her out of it.”
He fans his hands out unconvinced. “And?”
“She admitted her file’s sealed and she did nothing wrong. That she made the right call in the field.”
“Every member of the BAU has been in trouble at some point or another in similar circumstances. Legal and otherwise,” he says with the tone of a wise, patient, parent. “And we’re not aware of any significant reprimand, otherwise why retain a high rank in the CIA.”
“Yes, but I know all of you. I don’t know her.”
“Hotch didn’t know you when you joined. Yet here you are.” He gestures around Hotch’s former office. “Section Chief.”
She remains unconvinced, face hardened with mistrust.
“Come on, Emily. Even you were given the opportunity to prove yourself. Why can’t you afford the same arm length courtesy?”
That is the question, isn’t it? Why doesn’t she like you besides the overall mistrust. Again, there were a lot of similarities to your careers that she should have some sympathy towards you and your situation. But it’s difficult to shake your reasoning for helping Wilson with this immense favor of the BAU budget resolution.
“It’s the stipend. Or the amount of the stipend that unburied us,” she admits carefully.
“Ah.” He smiles. “Too good to be true?”
“Yes,” she nods. “And why does she even has that much to use? Whatever happened was big and I don’t want that drama effecting the BAU.”
“Wow. Emily, with all due respect, that’s very hypocritical of you after what happened wi-“
“Don’t you dare.” She swivels the chair to face him fully. “Don’t you dare compare what happened with Doyle with her.”
“Why? Because you have nothing to compare the drama with?” He scoffs as she nods in affirmation. “Why does it matter?”
“Because Bailey’s still breathing down my neck trying to disband the unit and is clearly finding new creative ways to do it since the budget is no longer an issue.” She rests her head against the high back chair, staring at the ceiling.
Dave stiffens in the chair. “Emily, what exactly happened with you and Whitlock?”
She pensively pulls her lips together as she closes her eyes. “I may have admitted … that I only cared about her because of the money.”
Rossi could not help the surprise look on his face. “Emily, no …”
She sighs and opens her eyes, a hint of regret etching into her words. “I was angry after she joked about being the BAU sugar mama. Everything after that went to shit.”
He was starting to get tired of Emily speaking around what actually happened between the two of you. “What exactly are you saying?”
“I’m saying that I have no idea if Whitlock is still on board.” She raises her hand futilely at her office door. “She left, probably for good. Which means our contract with her is null and void.”
“And the money we were hoping for …”
“… doesn’t come,” she finishes soberly.
“And you didn’t think to contact her to see where she stands in all of this?”
“Oh, it did cross my mind,” she answers ruefully. “I just haven’t. And to be fair, the shit we dealt with today made it a low priority.”
Rossi wasn’t sure how being in exorbitant debt would be a low priority if the expectant help wasn’t coming. “And now?”
She finally shifts her gaze towards Rossi, lost. “I don’t know.”
“Sure, you do,” he chides as he stands up. “You just need to apologize.”
You were glad that the sports bar, Buddy’s, was still around to enjoy the football preseason despite the Bears not playing tonight. You were a true fan of your hometown team. Thick and thin, you bitched and cheered after every play during a Bears game, loyally critical. Perhaps you should be a tad loyal to the Commanders since you lived in the D.C. area when off mission, but you honestly didn’t care. You were happy to enjoy any game that was playing on the screens over the bar counter.
Right now, the Giants were playing the Patriots in a close game as you sat at the bar nursing a Stella on draft with a bowl of gumbo. Brian still didn’t know of your indecision, though you did end up feeling a twinge of guilt after watching the shitshow of a press conference Bailey held earlier today.
He was such a fucking tool, broadcasting that the FBI was on to Sicarius and taking full credit of capturing the unsub in Allaband Park. There was no way that the operation was a success without the BAU there and even you knew that Prentiss was just in the background to show that everyone was playing nice.
You briefly wonder if you could have helped the team, or more accurately, would have been allowed to help the team today if her majesty could get over her mistrust of you.
At least Brian had texted to check on you after hearing of Green’s capture.
Dad sent 1534: You ok?
Whitlock sent 1603: Yeah I’m good
Dad sent 1632: Glad to hear it.
You made sure to allow enough reasonable time before responding to make it look like you were busy after the capture, and to answer truthfully without being specific.
“Oh, come on!” You gesture at the screen when a defensive lineman wasn’t covered and sacked the Giants quarterback.
You didn’t really care who wins but you would always call out stupid plays, and that was one major fuck up. As the Giants took a time out, you went back to your gumbo and felt the counter vibrate twice, indicating a message was received. You had missed who it was from and go to unlock the screen …
… and drop your spoon in the bowl in shock.
Overlord sent 1932: I’d like to meet up and discuss last night.
Never did it cross your mind to think that you’d get a text from Emily fucking Prentiss.
You’re motionless as you stare at the screen, hands resting on either side of your meal and the phone as you consider the offer. Let alone that there was an offer so soon. You pinch your brows before you pick up the phone, thumbs hovering over the keyboard.
You write out several replies to get the smartass comments out of your system.
Fuck off
New phone, who dis?
Make sure when you come the pole’s dislodged from your ass
Now you wanna talk?
Oh I’m so relieved that the queen wishes to make time for her lowly servant
Are you drunk?
Each one was deleted, and Emily was probably wondering why it was taking so long for you to respond if she saw you were constantly typing a reply.
And what was going to be your real one?
You swallow down several gulps of beer, decision made.
Whitlock sent 1946: Sure. Come to Buddy’s. Know where it is?
You were tired of Prentiss having the home field advantage and if she really was earnest in wanting to speak, she would come to you.
Overlord sent 1949: I do not
Must not be her scene and thinking back to her office, there was no sports stuff displayed there, unlike the glimpses of Cubs gear in Rossi’s office when you walked by.
Whitlock sent 1950: I sent you the location
Overlord sent 1952: Got it. See you in about an hour
You fought the urge to send, ‘It’s a date!’, and simply set your phone aside. You were proud of yourself for behaving and flag the bartender over, immediately handing her your Platinum American Express card. “Start a tab, will ya?”
The blonde bartender that had been working your side of the bar counter took it with a smile. It accentuated her stud piercing above her lip. “Sure thing, sweetie.”
“Oh! And do me a favor?” Your eyes were alight with mischief that made the woman pause. “When you see a grumpy looking woman dressed like a Fed walk in, bring her a glass of your best red.”
It took Emily ten minutes to find a parking space, not expecting a sports bar to be this busy on a Thursday night. At least the five minute walk was pleasant with the light breeze and night clear enough of cloud cover to enjoy the bright crescent moon hovering in the sky. It was off center, reminding her of the Chesire Cat’s grin. Which then reminds her of you and your antics.
Ugh. Please don’t be an ass tonight.
As she enters, she immediately spots you, recognizing the suede jacket of yours hanging over the back of the bar stool to your left. She guesses it is to save a spot for her. As she approaches, she takes in your relaxed appearance, causally watching the game and sipping at the glass of beer you cradle with a hand on the counter. You had your hair pulled back in a loose braid that rested against a black tee and wore jeans that were fraying at the end that covered the top of brown work boots.
Before she even had a chance to greet you, a glass of red wine appears on the counter next to you. She catches the bartender and you sharing a knowing look before she disappears to take care of someone else.
“Hey, Prentiss.” You turn to remove your jacket and place it back where it belongs behind you.
Emily shrugs her long coat off and hangs it over the back of the chair. You couldn’t help but notice how out of place she looks. It wasn’t the clothes, no. There were a lot of suits that end up relaxing at a sports bar - throwing back some beer and cocktails as they yell at the screens in joy or contempt. It was why the beer and cocktails menu were long and the wine list short. And it was why Prentiss got a basic cabernet sauvignon while you got many drafts on tap to choose much to your delight.
She sits beside you and gestures to the drink. “Thanks.”
“Welcome.” Your face scrunches together in repentance. “Consider it an apology for basically calling you a functional alcoholic.”
You take a sip of your beer while watching highlights from the game. The Giants had won by a field goal.
Prentiss nods as she takes a sip from her glass. She makes a light face of approval at the taste of the wine. “Ironic offering this to the maybe functional alcoholic.”
“Touche.”
You both grow silent, Prentiss trying to recover from the peace offering she was drinking and the fact you apologized first. It was commendable to be the bigger person when Emily was in the wrong.
“Do you normally come to places like this?” she asks carefully, seeing where you two stand right now in this conversation.
“Nah. Just didn’t want to be at the apartment doing the same thing.” And you didn’t need to cook, which was a bonus.
“You like,” she gestures to the screen and awkwardly asks, “football?”
You found it cute she was trying.
“I’m not a die hard fanatic, but I enjoy the game a lot.” You finally turn to look at her. “I take it you’re not a fan.”
She shakes her head no and meets your gaze. “I am not.”
“Of all sports, right?”
“That would be right.”
You both stare at one another for a few moments before you shift in your chair to lean against the counter, resting your elbow on top to prop up your head. “If it helps to shake off some of my mystique, I’m a Bears fan. You probably don’t understand how sad that it is, but it is. My team sucks but I’ll always root for them.”
That jibe made Emily relax, even making the curves of her mouth turn upwards just enough to realize what you were getting at. “So, you’re saying you’re loyal?”
You nod. “I am. To those who treat me right.”
Emily takes a long sip of her wine to marinate on the accusation she deserves. You wait her out, watching Emily pay attention to commentary and statistics she doesn’t give a shit about on the screens across from you.
“I shouldn’t have referred to you as a means to an end.” Her hands rest on the base of the wine glass, steadying the drink as much as her own words. “It’s difficult for me to …”
You watch as she chews over what to say.
“… for me to trust you.”
You inwardly sigh and drop the arm holding your head up. Your body went on the defense, as did your tone. “Yes, we’ve been through this …”
“It’s not without reason,” she supplies quickly, but not rudely, as she cuts you off.
“I agree. But you dehumanized me,” you reply bitterly. “I was basically your money whore.”
“I didn’t …” But Emily pauses, realizing the joke you made was not your usual smartass retort, but a self-deprecating comment of how hurt you were.
She remembers you saying that you hide your trauma with humor, and what you just said admitted to a painful past of being underappreciated or undeserving.
“Stop profiling me, Prentiss,” you warn, eyes pleading.
She backs down and nods. “I’m sorry. It’s defensive most of the time in situations like this.”
“Okay, that I can understand. Social shit isn’t my forte either. Especially through all the bullshit we’ve been through.” You hold up your hands on the immediate defense as Prentiss starts to look suspicious. “And I mean generally. I’m not talking about any specifics. But people like us, with the shit we’ve done and lived through, have intense self defense mechanisms and shitty coping skills that we see everything’s a threat until we get to understand one another.”
“Ah,” she slowly nods. “Yes. That’s very true.” Then she narrows her eyes at you. “Why couldn’t you be this reasonable last night?”
“Why did you have to be a bitch?” you counter.
“Fair point,” she chuckles and looks aggrieve. “I was painfully informed I was as such earlier today.”
“Hence the text?”
“Mhm.”
“Well … good.” You down more of your drink as Prentiss does with hers, both avoiding the unspoken question - were you staying with the BAU?
Though as you watch the section chief, you see a shift in her facial features. A harden look as she comes to a decision inside her head.
“How about we start over.”
“Like, how?” you found this perplexing.
“Like this.” She turns on the stool and holds a hand out before you. “Hi, I’m sorry for the misunderstanding yesterday. I’m Section Chief Emily Prentiss.”
Your eyes go wide and look down at the olive branch. You could hear Brian’s voice reminding you that you never quit on anyone and why you shouldn’t start now.
So, you take Emily’s hand and squeeze it. “Special Agent Y/N Whitlock. Nice to meet ya.”
She lightly smiles before releasing your hand, but she starts to dread the roguish look you're directing towards her. “What?” she questions slowly, draping her arm over the back of the bar stool.
“Nothing bad, I promise.” Your smile disarms her as you notice she was genuinely concerned this would degrade into another misunderstanding. “I know you don’t know me, and I can’t say much, but to start this partnership off better, how about you get to ask me one question, and I promise to answer it to the best of my ability without joking around.”
Her lower lip protrudes with consideration. “All right.” She takes a hefty swallow of wine and sets it down to look you directly in the eyes. “How did you join the CIA?”
“Fuck,” you say, rolling your eyes. “I can’t say.”
You watch as the tiny bit of the wall Emily had taken down starts to build right back up. The shift in her brown eyes makes you feel miserable. “Wait!” you urge. “Please. I really can’t say, and that’s the truth. But I can offer something related to it.”
Emily becomes intrigued. “Go on.”
“Brian Korogoth recruited me.”
“Brian … Korogoth?” she repeats back for clarification.
“Yes.”
“The current Director of the CIA?” she stabs the counter with her index finger for emphasis.
“Yep.”
“That Brian Korogoth?” Emily needs to ask it again to make sure she was hearing this right.
“To be fair, he wasn’t that when I met him, but … yes.”
It took a few minutes for Emily to digest this new information. She had briefly worked with Korogoth when she was in JTF-12 before the Doyle case. He was an intelligent and calculating man. A natural leader. He liaised between JTF-12 and Interpol to track down members of the Armed Islamic Group* in Great Britain when a string of car bombings had occurred.
“Wow. Okay then.” She blinks a few times in realization and feels a newfound respect for the woman before her.
“I should have probably led with that when we first met to save us from all the bullshit between us, huh?” you say, as if reading her thoughts.
She laughs, an honest laugh, that echoes quite lovely over the din of patrons. “Probably, yes.”
You hold up your glass and offer Prentiss a bright smile. “To starting over?”
Emily didn’t hesitate in reaching for her wine glass to clink it against your drink. “To starting over.”

girl next door 🏠 - 5
a/n: sorry bout the delay-- very busy week at work and had a bunch of singing engagements this weekend. but here's this!
“Can you stop thinking about fucking our neighbor so loudly? I can practically feel the wheels turning over here.” Emily groaned as she turned to face JJ. It had been days since their girls night and of course they’d been whisked away on a case. As morbid as their job was that wasn’t stopping either of their minds from lingering on the conversations they had in their living room.
“Oh don’t act like you haven’t been thinking about it too.” JJ poked, leaning back in the hotel room’s office chair. “And I already know we’re going to discuss it when we get home– I’m just getting a head start.” JJ shrugged.
“And how are you so sure we’re going to discuss this? It’s not as if this is a normal scenario for us.” Emily tried (and failed) for disinterest.
“Which is all the more reason to discuss it. She said it herself– we’re depriving the women-loving women population as is. We might as well indulge ourselves, at least once. Plus it’s not like it’s the first time we’ve invited a woman to bed before.”
“But it is the first time she’s been more than a passing acquaintance.” Emily reminded.
“Well yes, but doesn’t the longing of it all kind of appeal to you a bit? It’s not like we haven’t been consciously and unconsciously thinking about her since we met her. And like I said it only has to be the one time.”
“I hear you but I highly doubt either of us will be satiated after taking her to bed once.”
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. But even then, so what if she becomes a repeat guest? It’ll be pretty convenient at least. We’d be cutting a large part of the leg work, and still coming out pretty well in the end. No more fishing for good submissives across DC after a draining case. No more layers and layers of anonymity. We could even enjoy her company in the comfort of our own home. Sounds like a list of pros to me.” JJ listed.
“Logistically, yes it makes sense. But are we sure this is a step we want to take with someone we’ve already got a friendship with?”
JJ pondered briefly before leveling Emily with a shrug, “It’s not like were asking her to marry us. She’s obviously in the market for at the very least an orgasm and I think we can provide that. You heard her, she’s open to experiences– long or short. What’s the harm in giving her the option?”
“I guess you’re right.” Emily nodded.
“Of course I am. I don’t know why you’d ever doubt me.”
-
With classes started, there really wasn’t much time for Y/n to feel embarrassed about her drunken confessions on her neighbors’ couch. She’d always been a bit loose-lipped when alcohol was in the mix, but it was always things she 100% meant—just something she wouldn’t typically say aloud soberly.
“Diana– that was good. I can tell you’ve been working on this piece for a while. We’ll keep it in your repertoire this year but I think I’ve got a few other songs I’d like to add too.” Y/n smiled up at the sophomore from the piano bench. It was Friday afternoon and this was her last lesson before she could head home for the weekend. In week two of classes, she finally started to get into the groove of her schedule. Her students were all excitable and respectful. The work they’d turned in so far looked good. All the signs were pointing toward a very enjoyable first semester.
“Awesome, how do you feel about adding a little Anything Goes to the list? I’d really like to master the Patti Lupone belt and Professor Calkins wouldn’t let me even look at it last year.” Diana pleaded. It was only her second lesson (the first one she’d actually sung in) but Y/n could tell she would be fun to work with.
“Sure, why not? These are your lessons. Just let me know, and we’ll get the music.” Diana grinned and nodded before heading out of the office. With Diana gone, Y/n packed her things and headed home. As soon as she made it in the door, her phone was ringing as it typically did on Fridays. Grayson, a true creature of habit, called almost every Friday to debrief but they’d missed each other the last couple weeks and there was much to discuss.
“You’d be very proud of me.” Y/n smirked as she propped the phone against the toaster in her kitchen.
“I’m always proud of you, but your smirk is leading me to believe you got between your sexy neighbors.” Grayson beamed in anticipation.
“Not yet— but here’s to hoping!” Y/n laughed before continuing. “They invited me over for a girls night with their co-worker and you know how I get when I drink. I think I may have complained about them being together and leaving the rest of the lesbian population to date crazy people.”
“Oh, that sounds like you when you drink gin or tequila. You know gin makes you sin.” Grayson laughed.
“I know! I do think it was tequila though. I got a little silly towards the end. So silly I freaked when their friend said they have some sort of open relationship.”
“Open relationship? Shut up, no way.”
“I honestly think it’s a sexual thing. They look like the type to menage a trois.” Y/n explained.
“You say that like you, yourself would not also be the type to menage a trois for the right women.” Grayson teased down the phone. “Or should I remind you of that one time–”
“No! I don’t need you to remind me anything. I’m just saying, I feel like they’re the one and done type. With their job, they probably wouldn’t have the time for a consistent lover outside of each other.”
“Well you haven’t had a consistent lover in months, I don’t see the issue here. One orgasm is better than no-gasms.” Grayson urged.
“You’re such a bad influence.”
“Yes, but you love it. You know you want them, I know you want them. They even know you want them. I just think you should be open to anything that may come to your doorstep. At least once!”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I hear ya.”

What d’you think is the “best” trait the main bau team members have?
OH I love this question thank you so much. There’s a lot so bear with me
Hotch: his compassion for his team. He’s an extremely compassionate and empathetic leader, constantly allowing for his team to leave work if they need to and following them on their hunches, even if they seem unlikely, purely because he loves and respects each of them. Quite often Hotch is portrayed as stone faced but I’ve honestly never seen a male leading character be so openly loving to their team.
Gideon: how much he cares for the victims in his cases. Gideon is often characterised as being a bit clueless to the feelings of his team, yet he never is to the people he is trying to save because he puts his everything into it. He has always been so open and accepting in cases which was rare for a 51 year old man in 2005; he was very willing to let go of his old ways and what he used to know so that he could evolve with the changes in society in order to best help the people he was saving. We also got to see his book of the people he saved. It was amazing.
Rossi: his ability to read and help the people on the team when no one else does. I wholeheartedly believe that if Rossi was present during the Hankel case, Reid would not have gone through his addiction alone. Rossi is always the one to call out people who try to hide their problems and he puts in so much effort to help them, even using his hours outside of work to do so. We see him waking up early to help Hotch coach Jack’s football matches, him inviting Penelope over for scotch so that she can finally disconnect from technology and him hosting the cooking class, the wedding and Strauss’ funeral dinner ar his house. His character development from being weary about the team to adoring them all individually was amazing.
Reid: I love how despite him admitting that he has trouble with emotions, he is always the one doing everything he can to be an emotional support when people around him are struggling. We see him try and comfort Elle when everyone else disconnected from her, he stayed with Garcia the entire time when she was shot, he is the one to call Emily to ask if she wants to hang out when she started disconnecting due to the Doyle situation, he is the one to try and help JJ with her PTSD in season 10 and so on. He doesn’t like the idea of the people around him going through things alone despite the fact that he often tries to go through things alone and he is extremely selfless in this sense.
JJ: I am constantly inspired by how throughout the show, she is repeatedly putting in effort to try and improve herself as a person and as an agent. We never see her get cocky, even when she deserves to be like she was in the FBI from a very young age, she had one of the most challenging jobs as the press liaison and then she was able to work herself up to profiler where she was one of the most formidable people on the field. Despite how impressive she really is, the audience are never given a chance to consider it because she never boasts about it and instead spends everyday striving to be better.
Morgan: he is always willing to take on a leadership role when he has to, yet he is always willing to give it back to Hotch when he doesn’t need to take it on anymore. I’m not just referring to season 5 either, I’m talking about any time when Hotch is unable to take on his role. Morgan respects Hotch a lot and is always willing to support him by taking on the role of team leader when Hotch can’t anymore, yet he never tries to take the role permanently for himself, despite being told he could by Strauss. Despite his years of experience and his leadership skills, he is willing to give up the role because he sees it as what is best for the team and he respects Hotch too much to keep it.
Elle: her protection of women. Elle was, in my opinion, ahead of her time. She previously worked in the sex crimes division and in season 1, she was the only female profiler and she did not step away from her previous role as an advocate for women in sex crimes just so she could better ‘fit in with the men’ of the BAU; she instead brought her perspective with her and implemented it in her cases. She was the only one in episode 3 to look at the woman who was assaulted and realise how uncomfortable she must have been surrounded by men. She ended her career in the BAU fighting for women and it hurts me that the BAU lost her.
Garcia: she never, ever stops being herself, even when people question her or bring her down for it. Sadly, because Garcia is the brightest person in the room, she is quite often the one who the profilers take their frustrations out on; we have seen JJ, Morgan, Hotch, Rossi and Emily all do this. Despite this, she doesn’t waver, she doesn’t stop being the brightest person in the room just because someone is simply not in the mood for her to be because she knows that she does not need to apologise for simply existing as her authentic self. In the episode The Black Queen, 9x12, her ex tells her that they both used to make fun of girls like her, and she corrects him saying that he made fun of girls like her, this was who she always wanted to be. This is so empowering to me.
Prentiss: my love, she was so unbelievably loyal to those around her and this was clear from the beginning. She was the only one to question Reid’s suffering in season 2, she literally uprooted her life and faked her death so that her team’s lives could be protected in season 6. When she found out JJ was in danger in season 9, she was so quick to jump on a plane back to help her. When the team calls for favours whilst she is in London, she always answers to help them. When Reid got arrested and imprisoned in season 12, she didn’t once believe that he committed the crime of which he was accused and even risked her entire career tampering with possible evidence so that it couldn’t be used against him. She is loyal to a fault and so many don’t acknowledge that.
Todd: we only got Todd for 9 episodes but I loved how human she was. She was the first character to make the audience realise that none of what we were looking at was normal. By season 4, the audience became very desensitised to the crimes that we were looking at and Todd broke us out of that and she also was not afraid to call out the fact that it wasn’t normal that the profilers were desensitised either. I respect how in the end she would rather admit that she couldn’t do the job anymore than lose that human side of her. I also loved how she made sure Hotch never took JJ for granted.
Seaver: we never got to see much of Seaver’s development because of the writers, but I loved her willingness to learn. Seaver hadn’t even graduated from the academy when she joined the team, she was not a profiler, she wasn’t even a qualified FBI agent. Watching her learn and grow in such a traumatising field and take it all in her stride was so incredibly interesting to watch. I also loved watching her friendship grow with the team; going to the cinema with Reid, Morgan and Garcia, gaming night with Rossi and going out for curry with Reid.
Blake: Blake was so incredibly talented and so unbelievably smart but instead of using it as a way to get ahead of her team, she used it as a way to relate to them and bond with them. She almost became a protective figure over them and she took that role very seriously too. It was honestly amazing watching her mind work and how easily she was able to take on her role as a profiler because of it. I know I just named multiple good qualities but it is incredible to me how much her character was able to grow and be adored in just two seasons, she had no idea what dynamic she was getting into when she joined the team yet she fit in perfectly and adapted to it so quickly in order to help them and gain their trust.
Callahan: her confidence. She went into that bullpen being unapologetically herself from the beginning and she fit herself into that team without an ounce of apprehension. She made so much effort to establish herself and she was not shy about it which I adored; she had banter with Rossi, she opened up to Reid, she carpooled with JJ, she became a close friend for Garcia and she gained Morgan’s trust all within a few episodes; the last two being hard to do as a new member of the team. I love how she didn’t question where she belonged, she knew she belonged.
Simmons: to me, Simmons was just so incredibly sweet. When he first joined and I saw that he was buff and conventionally attractive, I was weary that he was just going to be another jock detective that we see in other shows, but he wasn’t. He, again, was an incredibly strong and skilled agent yet when he arrived on the team he took everyone for who they were and never once acted like he was in any way better than them because he had skills that they did not have. He was just a nice person and that may sound like a basic description but to me, it’s the best description to give a person. I felt genuinely safe with Matt’s character on the screen because it was just lovely to see a man on the screen who was just good.
Lewis: OH I love this woman. Tara brought a new element of self assurance to the screen and also humour. She, again, was very unapologetically herself and she knew her worth, as we saw when she went through her breakup, which was so refreshing to see because it is rare you see a woman know her value and not be portrayed as cocky for doing so. She is also a character that marked her place on the team and I also love how unafraid she was to come out and say that she was dating a woman, which was a risk in itself because the BAU had never had an openly LGBTQ+ profiler before. I also loved how she brought ‘your mum’ jokes to the show because watching a 50 year old woman with a doctorate make multiple ‘your mum’ jokes is all I needed from the show if I’m honest.
Alvez: I don’t want to repeat things too much but I also love Luke’s loyalty, which is something we also saw from very early on in his time in the show. Bear in mind when Reid was in prison, Luke was only on the team for a very short period of time, yet he believed wholeheartedly that Reid was innocent and even made threats for his safety. I also love how he took Garcia’s original dislike of him in his stride and honestly embraced everything about her, whether it was her distrust in him or her ‘quirkiness’ as the team would dub it, he took it all in and loved her because of it all, not in spite of it.

Intimidation – S. Reid X Reader
Trying to rewrite one fic of each fandom so i get that reach.
Request: hey could you make a spencer reid x reader where the reader is new to the BAU and she has more PHDs than reid. which makes him super intimidated and insecure (bc he also finds her very pretty)
Word Count: 2.1k
Today was an emotional day. Quickly trying to blink back the tears that burned the back of your eyes, you stared up at the skyscraper. A lump rising in your throat, you reflected on all the hard work, all the time, all the energy, you put in just to be able to stand here right now. Years. Years of school, universities, exams, lack of a social life, and probably enough coffee to kill a small village. All to stand at the doors of the BAU, ready to take on your first day.
You walked through the double doors, flashing your badge, and security directed the way for you. In a brief call with the Boss, Aaron Hotchner, he had given you a rundown of the people who will be on your team. You mentally revisited all the notes you took, trying to suppress the anxiety crawling up your throat. The elevator bell’s ‘ding!’ interrupted your thoughts. Quickly stepping out, you assessed your surroundings, briefly reveling the fact that you were actually here. You are actually, officially, FBI. You glanced through the double glass doors just in time, to catch a stare from someone you could only assume was Spencer Reid. Your eyes followed as he fiddled and dropped a stack of files on the ground. At his clumsiness, who you would assume would be morgan, followed his line of sight to see what all the fuss was about. His lips curled into a smirk as he said something inaudible to the other team members standing by.
Looking particularly suspicious, just idling in the corridor, you made your way through the double glass doors. You put on your best smile as a distraction from the blush crawling up your neck. You excitedly walked over to the gathering of people; your happiness evident in every step.
“Hi! I'm officially Supervisory Special Agent Dr. (Y/N) (L/N). Can you use two titles like that? I'm not sure, but regardless just call me (Y/N).” You beamed like a sunflower as you stuck your hand out to shake, who you assumed to be Emilys, hand. Morgan raised his eyebrow, looking you up and down.
“Well, hey mama, what a nice Suprise.” He looked over at his team members to find their confused faces but raised his eyebrow, nonetheless. A pretty lady in his midst, Morgan would never complain, especially not when she carries a gun.
“Team.” Everyone's head turned toward the stairs as Hotch ran down them. “I forgot to mention, new team member, (Y/N) meet, Morgan, Emily, JJ, Rossi, and Dr Reid.” He pointed at each one whilst introducing them.
Your lips curled into a small smile as you beamed again. “Infamous Dr. Reid, Hotchner told me so much about you, apparently we are going to get along.”
“Yes uhm.” He coughed, ready to list the facts he knew about you. “She can speak several languages, has 4 PHD’s, In Mathematics, Chemistry, Engineering and Psychology, and she has 4BA’s, Philosophy, Sociology, Linguistics and archeology if I remember correctly, all at the age of 26. Very similar to you.” He took a breath after rattling everything off and gave you a smile.
“A new resident genius huh?” You and the team turned to the source of the voice, immediately noting that it was Penelope Garcia. You gave a small wave as she walked over. “Our boy genius finally has some girl genius competition.” She smiled as a very speechless Spencer opened his mouth, but closed it again, finding he had nothing to say.
You turned a confusing look at the girl next to him and spoke. “I'm sure we will have lots to talk about, I'm definitely a talker.”
You gave him a big smile and God he could've died and went to heaven right there. So many thoughts rattled around his head. He was used to being the smartest person in the room. The one constant in his life was his intelligence. And here you were, looking like a fucking sunflower, taking that constant away. 2 degrees. 2 degrees more than him. He genuinely couldn't wrap his head around it. Attraction and intimidation swirled in his mind like oil and water. The best he could do was gulp down his fear, paste a small smile on his face as you walked away to get situated.
-
The hours wore on, and the effect of your first day at work was taking its toll on you. Heading over to the coffee machine, you spotted spencer, making what seemed to be his fourth coffee of the day. “I suppose Hotch was right about you being a coffee addict.”
A giggle erupted from your throat as his head shot up and his eyes widened at you, looking like a deer in the headlights. And once again, he found himself without anything to say. The anxiety of making a fool of himself in front of someone smarter than him was too much. He just grabbed his coffee cup and ducked back to his desk. Your eyes bore holes into the spot where he once stood, a small frown on your face. Had you seriously offended someone on your first day? Shaking your head, you returned to make some delicious coffee.
Morgan quickly placed himself on the edge of Reids desk as he sat down. “Our babies will be smart and beautiful.” He mocked in a dreamy voice, breaking Spencer away from his thoughts.
“What?” He gave Morgan a look of feigned innocence.
“Cmon, Pretty Boy. Youve already got it bad for wonder girl over there.” At the mention of your name, they both look towards the coffee station where you stood, looking like you were right out of a movie. He stuttered out an attempt at denying his friends accusations, but Morgan simply laughed and clapped him on the back, leaving him a stuttering mess at the thought of you.
“Briefing room!” Your ears perked up at the sounds of your boss’s voice ringing out across the room signaling you had a case. You turned your head and caught Spencers eye on the way, flashing him a timid smile. Finally, something to draw Spencer's thoughts away from you and your intrepid little mind.
-
Having been briefed they introduced you to the private jet. Of course it was met with gasps of astonishment from you, never having seen something so amazing in all your life. Everyone had settled in, and you sat down on the couch next to Spencer, taking in everyone on the plane. “Hey Genius Boy.” The common nickname caused Spencer to look up from his book. “Listen, I'm sorry if I offended you, I'm not trying to take your place as resident genius here, I think we could have some crazy in-depth conversations, if you would actually talk to me that is.” Your hands moved to match your voice, as a giggle left your throat to cover the awkwardness. He stared at you, looking like the human embodiment of his dreams, and decided today was not the day for his brain to fail him, he will not come across as stupid as he feels right now.
“Thank you, I think we would too, you didn't offend me, I'm sorry, I just get a little anxious about things sometimes. And honestly, I've never met anyone with more degrees than I have.” The way he talked with his hands mirrored yours as he explained himself. You beamed at him after hearing you hadn't offended him, and Spencer swore he was melting. He studied your face and noticed your darker eye bags, and your second cup of coffee in hand. He assumed you'd had a sleepless night. He was all too familiar with insomnia, and first day nerves. “I can move if you want to lay down and take a nap.” A nice offer in his eyes, so he was surprised at your reaction.
Your hands shot to cover your face as you squealed. “Do I really look that bad?” You spread your fingers to look at him whilst still shielding your face. His eyes shot open as he waved his hands a little frantically.
“Oh god no! No! You look beautiful, really, I just assumed you were tired because of all the coffee.” He gently grasped your hands and removed them away from your face. A blush creeped up your neck at the compliment, and your hair stood on end at the sudden contact. His hands darted back as he felt his own cheeks darken.
“I'm kidding Spence, I have trouble sleeping on a good day but thank you for caring anyway.” You smiled at him, taking in his features. God he really was beautiful too. Something about having such an intricate mind made a person all the more attractive.
In hopes to make you feel better, Spencer did what he did best, and rambled, his hands intricately moving as he practically word vomited on you. “Yaknow, some sleep experts have said that sleeping with someone around, and or cuddling with them, actually improves sleep. Your brain releases endorphins and dopamine and all that good stuff when you cuddle with someone, and it is said that aids sleep. I personally don’t believe in sleep studies, or dream studies for that matter, but it could be something to think about in the future.” He stared at his lap as he finished his ramble.
“Are you asking me to sleep with you, Dr Reid?” You quirked your eyebrows as endless giggles spilled out of your throat at his reaction. His eyes shot open again and he stuttered out some form of apology. He really needed to get his shit together if he ever wanted to have a normal conversation with you. “Okay, okay relax.” Your giggles faded away as you laid a hand on his arm.
“I was just suggesting, you know you need to be refreshed for a case, if you wanted to sleep near me, if that's okay with you. I mean I could use a little bit more sleep as well.” He tried to distract your eyes from his searing cheeks as he motioned to his coffee cup.
A smile broke out onto your face as you nodded softly, heat climbing up the back of your neck at the thought of the close proximity. You had heard Spencer was afraid of germs? Huh, maybe that wasn't the case. With 5 hours left till landing, Spencer retrieved a pillow from the couch opposite and laid it in the crook of his arm. Twiddling your fingers together, you shifted on the couch, moving to slip in between his body and his arm.
You had never been so glad he couldn't see your face, but at this point, you were sure he could probably feel the heat radiating off your cheeks. You sighed into the comfort, with the thought of sleep weighing heavier and heavier on your eyelids. You took in the scent of his shirt, Pine, and old parchment. You gave it 5 minutes until you were whisked away into dreamland.
Spencer, on the other hand, had never been so awake. He desperately hoped you weren't able to hear his heartbeat thrum against his chest as you got close. He slightly inched his head to lay on top of yours, the scent of your shampoo absolutely intoxicating him. If it were up to him, he would fly this plane to Antarctica just to be here a bit longer with you.
Bonus
The jet took a sharp turn and Morgan looked up from his cellphone. His eyes caught you and Spencer, practically wrapped around each other on the couch. The biggest grin broke out on his face as he laughed under his breath. As quietly as possible, he nudged Emily and JJ, pointing his finger in the direction of the couch. Emily rolled her eyes with an incredulous look, and JJ cooed quietly over how cute you two were. Emily whispered, not-so-subtlety, to Derek. “Take a picture before they wake up.” Quickly digging in her purse and throwing him her disposable camera.
“I hate you all.” They all broke into silent laughter as Spencer grumbled.
Since that day, that picture had remained pinned on Spencer's desk.

Maternity Leave (part 5/?)
Summary: The BAU meets your newborn.
Pairing: Emily Prentiss/Reader
Word Count: 1763
TWs: fluff, comfort, newborn life
Ao3
PART ONE PART TWO PART THREE PART FOUR
You and Emily agreed to wait to have any visitors until Amelia was a month old.
You were recovering from surgery, and the birth in general, and you and Emily were still adjusting to being new parents. You wanted alone time with your daughter, to keep your world small, before letting anyone else in.
Neither you nor Emily were particularly close with your biological families, so that hadn’t posed an issue. The main source of pressure came from Emily’s actual family—the BAU.
To no one’s surprise, Penelope led the charge. When Emily hard-launched the announcement of your daughter’s arrival, by sending a picture of Amelia in the BAU group chat, both of your phones exploded with calls from the team.
You’d FaceTimed with your found family—a family you’d been brought into once you’d met Emily. Even though you didn’t work at the FBI with the rest of them, you’d become an honorary member and were quickly indoctrinated into ladies’ nights with JJ, Emily, and Penelope.
During the call, Hotch, Rossi, JJ, Morgan, Penelope, and Spencer fought to look at Penelope’s phone as Emily fixed the camera on you, holding your daughter.
“Congratulations!” Spencer said.
“SHE’S ADORABLE,” Penelope cooed.
“She is perfect,” JJ agreed.
“How are you two feeling?” Hotch asked.
You’d both agreed you were exhausted but had never been happier. Penelope immediately asked when they could meet her, and you watched the team’s faces fall when Emily told them it would be a few weeks.
JJ, as the other mother in the group, was the most understanding, and eventually, the others followed her lead.
When Emily ended the call, you deflated. “Are we being too harsh? Should we just invite them over?”
Emily frowned. “This is our family, and if we want to wait to have visitors, then we’ll wait. They will understand.”
“But Penelope—” you protested.
Emily held up a hand. “Let me deal with Penelope.”
You sighed but ultimately agreed.
Just after Amelia turned one month old, when you’d officially been home with her for a full month, you woke up to a text from Penelope.
Up for some visitors tonight? She’d asked with about a dozen emojis.
You giggled and handed the phone to Emily, who squinted to read the message.
Emily set the phone on the nightstand and rolled over to wrap her arms around you, and you sunk into her embrace.
“What do you think, love?” She whispered in your ear. “If you want more time, say the word, and I’ll handle it.”
Surprising even yourself, you were shaking your head before she was done speaking. You’d realized a few days prior that you missed your friends, and you yearned for adult conversations with someone other than your wife.
“I would like to see them,” you said.
Emily kissed your cheek. “I’ll invite them for dinner tonight.”
You melted against your wife, sleep threatening to claim you, when a wail erupted from the bassinet across the room.
“It’s okay,” Emily said, pulling away. “You go back to sleep.”
You didn’t need to be told twice. Before she could pick up your daughter and leave the room, you were gone.
***
At exactly 5 PM, the doorbell rang.
Normally, you preferred a late dinner, but with the team wanting to meet Amelia before she went to bed, you had to push things forward a few hours before she got too tired.
“Why do I feel nervous?” You rubbed your hands on your apron, which covered a floral sundress. You were battling some insecurities about your body, but the dress was comfortable and flattering, and for the first time in a while, you felt confident.
Emily was wearing a white button-down and black slacks with red lipstick that was driving you wild.
But you needed to focus.
Emily squeezed your hand. “We’ve been so isolated; it’s normal to feel a little anxious. But it’ll be great, you’ll see. And if it’s not, I’ll kick them out.”
The doorbell rang again, and Emily swore. “I’ll let them in; you take a moment.”
You did just that, finishing setting the dining room table as a chorus of voices echoed into your living room. Your heart rate accelerated, but you took a moment to pause, take a few deep breaths, and finish putting the table together before hanging your apron in the kitchen and joining the rest of the party.
“There she is!” Rossi cheered.
“How are you feeling, mama?” Morgan asked, wrapping an arm around you.
You blushed. “I can honestly say I’m doing great.”
“There’s nothing like it, is there?” JJ asked, wrapping her arms around you next.
“She’s incredible,” you agreed.
“It’s so good to see you,” Penelope gushed. “I come bearing presents!”
Sure enough, she held up a large, light pink gift bag that you suspected was filled to the brim.
“I brought wine,” Rossi offered.
“And I have sparkling grape juice,” JJ said.
You winked at her. “Thank you.”
“I have to say,” Hotch stepped forward. “For this being a house with a newborn, you’d never know it. When Haley and I had Jack, our place was a disaster for… well, it still is.”
You giggled. “If left to my own devices, believe me, it would be. But this one,” you pointed to your wife, who was taking the drinks to the table. “Has been my hero with staying on top of housework.”
“Really, Emily?” Morgan teased. “You? Cleaning?”
“Shut up, Derek,” Emily said, rolling her eyes, but there was a grin on her face that undermined the action.
“Have a seat,” you said, gesturing to the sectional. “I’ll go get the guest of honor.”
The room exploded into excited chatter as you slipped into your bedroom to gather Amelia from her bassinet.
“Fair warning, Amelia: They’re loud,” you whispered. “But they’re the best people I know.”
You kissed her forehead and smoothed out the floral onesie you’d dressed her in, which almost matched the dress you had on, before heading back out to meet your friends.
A hush fell over the room when you walked in, and all eyes were on you. You flushed from the attention and directed yours to the cooing baby in your arms.
“This,” you said, shifting her in your arms so everyone could catch a glimpse. “Is Amelia.”
You expected everyone to rush toward you to get a better look, but to your surprise, they remained seated. You glanced over to your wife, who was grinning, and knew she was behind their good behavior.
You walked her to each of your friends, introducing them individually. The last person in line was Penelope, who was practically bouncing in her seat.
You grinned at your friend. “Would you like to hold her?”
It was like you told her Christmas came early—her face lit up. “Are you sure?”
You nodded and gently handed her over to your friend. Though you knew Penelope was seasoned with babies at this point, you still felt nervous having her in the arms of someone who wasn’t yourself or Emily.
“She’s so small,” Penelope whispered.
“You know, by the time babies are one month old, they can see and focus on objects that are less than a foot away and sleep 14 to 17 hours per 24-hour period,” Spencer recited.
“She does love to sleep,” you agreed.
“Enjoy it while it lasts,” Hotch teased.
You groaned. “Oh, we are.”
Each team member took turns holding Amelia, who was starting to get fussy by the time she reached Emily.
“Babe, she’s hungry,” Emily said, rocking her gently.
“I’ll feed her; dinner should be almost ready, if you could check on it?”
Emily nodded, handing your daughter back to you. You made your way back into your bedroom, closing the door behind you, to feed your baby in peace.
A few minutes later, Emily crept in and made her way to where you sat, in the rocking chair in the corner.
“Dinner’s ready, but everyone’s willing to wait,” your wife said. “No one’s in a hurry.”
“No, they should eat while it’s hot. I don’t want the pressure of everyone waiting for me; I should be able to join you all in 20 or so.”
“Are you sure, love?”
You nodded. “I love them, but I think Amelia and I both need a moment alone anyway. Go, talk to our friends; I’ll join you in a bit.”
Emily brushed a stray strand of hair behind your ear. “I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“I love you most,” she said, heading back toward the door.
“I love you even m—”
“Can’t hear you! Already gone!” She called, rushing out of the room and closing the door behind her.
“Your momma’s a competitive woman,” you told your daughter with a giggle.
When Amelia was fed and burped, she could barely keep her eyes open. You kept rocking her, singing softly, until she was sleeping soundly. Carefully, you walked her to her bassinet, grabbed the baby monitor from the nightstand, and slipped back out of the room to rejoin your friends.
On the other side of the door, the dining room was bustling with laughter.
“I’ve never heard Spencer’s voice so high-pitched,” Derek was saying. “As soon as that elevator stopped moving, it was like it went up a full octave.”
“You weren’t exactly calm in there, either!” Spencer protested.
“This argument again?” you teased, taking the empty seat next to your wife. You kissed the top of her head before you sat, and Emily took your hand once you were settled.
“Every time,” JJ said, polishing off her glass of wine.
“How’s the baby?” Emily asked.
“Sleeping,” you shrugged. “Sorry her appearance was so limited,” you said to the rest of the room.
“Oh, please,” Rossi said, waving his hand.
“We were excited to meet her, but it’s you both we really wanted to see,” Penelope said.
You raised an eyebrow at your friend. That wasn’t what you expected to hear.
“She’s right,” Spencer said. “We’ve missed you guys. Everything’s changing so fast.”
You softened at that. “It won’t be like this forever. Hotch and JJ figured it out, and we will too. And you guys are welcome to come over anytime.”
“As long as you call first,” Emily jumped in. “So you don’t wake the baby.”
You smiled. “What she said.”
“To Amelia,” Rossi said, raising his glass. “The newest member of our family.”
The rest of the table raised their glasses, and you poured some sparkling grape juice into yours before doing the same.
“To Amelia,” the room echoed, clinking glasses.

how you get the girl - aaron hotchner
5 times Hotch accepted help from your son to get to you. 3k.
pairing: bau!femreader x aaron hotchner
warnings: canon type of violence
authors note: this is my first hotch work and i'm obsessed with this idea i had. i love him so much!!!!
One
When you started working at the BAU no one knew about your life. No one in the team had a clue about your son, until Penelope brought it up at the bar. Everyone was shocked by this information, especially when you said that your son was already a teenager.
It was funny to see the entire team's reaction when you dropped this information without warning. Penelope and Emily were excited to meet Taylor. It's not like you didn't want them to know of his existence, but to be on the safe side it was better if few people knew. He, on the other hand, was very proud of you. Taylor told everyone that his mother worked for the FBI and that you were the best mother and agent in the world.
The day the whole team met him, Rossi decided to throw a pool party at his house. You weren't sure if he would want to go and he didn't hesitate to accept your invitation and finally meet your coworkers.
Aaron had developed a great affection for you, perhaps due to the fact that the two of you were single parents or perhaps it was the way that, even unconsciously, you made him nervous. He admired the whole team, it was obvious, but you were different. You understood what it was like to not sleep through the nights, you understood what the heartbreak of having to leave your child while you were away for an indefinite amount of time was. You knew and he was grateful for that.
You didn't need to be a profiler to know he had a crush on you. And only you didn't see that.
When Hotch's eyes met your figure accompanied by a boy a little bigger than you, everything made sense. You two were very similar: the eyes, the hair and the smile.
“Hey guys. This is Taylor, Taylor, this is my team." The boy smiled a little shyly, waving to everyone in the room. He was surprised by Penelope who pulled him into a hug.
Taking Taylor to dinners ended up becoming a habit, while Aaron took Jack and JJ took Henry. It was fun for them and he enjoyed spending more time around you. On the other hand, he had noticed how Aaron wasn't discreet at all when he looked at you. The teenager tried to remain neutral in this situation, but he wanted his mother to be happy and he liked Hotch.
"You know you're not subtle at all? For someone who profiles, you're pretty bad at hiding some things." Taylor muttered looking at Aaron who shook his head laughing.
“I have no idea what you're talking about, Taylor."
"You look at my mother as if she is your salvation." The boy smiled looking at the man. "She likes when people compliment her. Start there, compliment her clothes, her hair, even her work."
“Why are you doing this?" Hotch asked, confused.
"For someone who is very good at their job, you need to try harder." The teenager joked and Aaron smiled. “And honestly, I like you better than the jerks she dated before. Make it work.”
It took Hotch a couple of weeks to finally put his plan to work. He knew you were going to stay late to finish some paperwork so you can take the weekend off. He watched your movements from his office, the way you were focusing on your files, the lenses were changed from your actual glasses (in his opinion you looked so much better in them) and the coffee mug was replaced by a water bottle. Aaron made his way to your table. You noticed him right away. It was impossible not noticing Hotch, especially when he was around you.
“Hi Hotch. What do you need?” You asked him watching his face.
“Oh, nothing special.” He tried to keep serious. “You did a great job today.”
His heart almost skipped a beat.
“Thanks. I guess that's the job right?” You play with him and sights softly.
Before he went back to his office he looked at you for a few seconds, making you confused.
“By the way, I think you look beautiful with these glasses.” Your heart was racing with his complement and you couldn't help but smile.
“Thanks, Hotch.” You winked at him and watched him go away.
Aaron starts to complement you every time he can. He sees you wearing a new dress? He'll tell you how pretty you look. Your hair looks different? Washes you in good comments. It was natural and felt right at the same time. Aaron Hotchner was messing with your head and you were enjoying it a lot.
Two
The second encounter between Taylor and Aaron was at your house. At this point the whole team and Taylor's friends were invested in your son hints to Aaron to get to you. Even Penelope was keeping it cool and that was hard for her.
“Remember the small things she talks about.” Taylor said quickly before you come back with the files Aaron was there to pick it up.
It was easy for him to remember the things you talked about. More precisely because he only pays attention to you wherever you speak near him. Your birthday was coming up and he could count the times he overheard you telling Emily and Derek about a book that it was impossible to find. It was the last book to complete your collection.
Aaron Hotchner could do many things. He knows a guy who owns a bookstore and in one call he bought you the book. He planned to surprise you on your birthday next weekend. He even tried to wrap in some beautiful paper but he gave up and put it in a fancy bag with a note Jack made himself.
On your birthday he was trying to play cool and don't ruin any chances he may have to see you smile. Everyone was chatting in the backyard where you organized a dinner to celebrate the day. He was speechless when he saw you all dressed up and happy to see everyone. You couldn't lie but your heart was beating very fast when you saw that man standing there with a bright smile all relaxed.
“Happy birthday!” Jack speaks for the first time in what seems like forever while the two of you hold a gaze for a little longer.
“Thank you Jackers! Thanks for coming guys, I appreciated it.” You welcome them.
Everyone sneaks closer to where you were just to see your reaction with the gift.
“I brought you a present. I know you said that it wasn't necessary but I wanted to.” Aaron gives you the fancy bag and you quickly inspect it.
When you took the book out of the bag your eyes widened and your smile became so much brighter. You look at him surprised and all the words vanish from your mouth.
“Aaron I can't believe it!” You laugh and give him a tight hug. “How did you find it?”
“I won’t tell you my secret but I heard you telling the team about this.” He swears the smell of your perfume almost breaks him.
“Thank you so much.” You leaned to give him a kiss on the cheek and both of your faces went red.
The whole team was cheering in silence. Everyone wanted you two to get together for a million reasons in particular because you two were meant to be. This day was the day you start falling hard for Aaron Hotchner and there's no turning back now.
Three
Aaron got Taylor's note in the back of his suit pocket. You needed to take him to the office for a doctor's appointment after work and it was easier to take him with you than letting him stay home. This time Derek helped him deliver the small piece of paper.
“Ask about her weekend plans. Invited her to do something.”
He laughs at the note and starts to consider doing something. Jack was spending the weekend at Jessica's and he was available.
Hotch waited till the end of the day to finally say something to you, but you were gone. He tried to hide his frustration and failed hard. Rossi laughs at his reaction and Emily joked about how he looked like a puppy.
Aaron collected all of his courage and sent you a text about your weekend plans. When you saw the message your heart missed a beat. Was he insinuating you should do something on the weekend? Is he interested in you?
‘Nothing really important. Got something in mind?’ You replied to him feeling like a teenager again. It took him a couple of minutes to answer. ‘We should grab a drink saturday. Like a date. What do you think?’ Your heart was so fast and you were blushing a lot. ‘Sure. Pick me up at seven.’ Aaron couldn't hide his smile and his excitement about the weekend.
Saturday night you were trying not to let your feelings show up to Taylor, who was more than happy to see you finally excited about seeing someone. You didn't know that he knew about what was going on but you can tell he seemed pretty fine compared to the other times you went on a date.
“Will you and your friends call me if something happened, honey?” You asked your son that was sitting at the edge of your bed watching you get ready.
“Yes mom. Don't worry about it. Have some fun, too.” He answered quickly and you turned to him. “Who are you going out with?"
“Does it matter?" You asked him with a smile and he nodded.
The bell made your heart race. Aaron wasn't the type of man to horn when he arrived, he was a true gentleman. He knocks on your door and waits for you to open the door. When you did, his mind went crazy. You were wearing a green strapless dress that complimented your whole body and thank God you brought that dress, because right now this image will stay with Aaron for the rest of his life.
“Hey.” You said to him with a nervous smile.
“Hi. You look amazing.” He murmured and you could see the smirk on his lips.
Four
Aaron remembered when Taylor told that you loved to laugh. And the highest point of his night was meep you laughing. He chose a restaurant Dave suggested and for the faces you were making, you love it. Hotch was a true gentleman, he didn't make you feel uncomfortable any moment. Always making sure you had a drink in hand, that your food was properly served.
This side of Aaron was a welcome surprise for you. The jokes he kept talking, the stories of his college years and early academy were taking your breath away. You never saw him smiling this much before and honestly, if you could, you would love to live in this moment forever. The atmosphere between you was contagious and happy.
‘’And now apparently I can’t walk around my own house when his friends are there. I need to keep a straight face and not lose my posture.’’ You wipe the tears of your eyes and smile. ‘’I don’t think you will pass through this but if you do, good luck.’’
‘’Actually, the other day one of the moms from soccer practice gave me her number while her husband was there. I was so afraid of having to fight right there.’’ You burst out laughing imagining the moment. ‘’I never grab Jack so fast in my life, I swear to God.’’
‘’I would pay a lot of money just to see that. The poor kid confused and you running with him.’’ He shook his head while you watched him.
Seeing you smile and laugh was invigorating for him. Making you laugh was a different level for him. It was the way your eyes close and your shoulders shake while you try not to laugh loudly and disturb the other tables. It’s how your cheeks turn pink when you laugh too much. Aaron’s heart can not handle the image that’s right in front of him. He can’t handle how nice, real and lovable you are. He can’t deal with the fact that at this moment no one else exists. He was falling in love. Hard.
‘’Why are you looking at me like that?’’ You asked, raising your eyebrows.
‘’Like what?’’ He was confused.
‘’I don’t know. You’re staring in a funny way.’’ You are a profiler, you know exactly what this look is.
‘’I think you’re beautiful.’’ His eyes lit up a little bit more as you stared back at him. ‘’Not a regular beauty. You take my breath away just for existing.’’
‘’Aaron.’’ You tried to stop him. ‘’Don’t say those things like it doesn’t mess with me. You know it does.’’
‘’I am serious. I could never lie about this.’’ He leaned close to you. ‘’Anywhere we are, I always want to keep looking at you. Every damn time.’’
‘’I don’t even know what to say.’’ You said softly, like a whisper.
‘’Don’t say anything. I just needed to say that. Get it out of my chest.’’ The atmosphere for some reason becomes lighter.
You two spent the rest of the night laughing and making jokes, somewhere in the middle of the night something changed inside of you. Maybe it’s the way he kept his hand on your back when you were leaving or how he walked you to the door just to make sure you’re safe. He’s a fucking gentleman and you were definitely screwed.
Five
You decided to avoid Hotch after your date. It was driving him crazy and it was depressing you a little. It’s not like you didn’t like the idea of him being in love with you, you enjoyed it a lot. But admit it you feel the same it was too real. And the last time that shit happened you end up with a son. You couldn’t handle the idea of breaking your heart again.
Aaron on the other hand was out of ideas on how he could make you his. The last thing Taylor told him when he dropped you off was ‘don’t hide your feelings for her, if you like her you should repeat it.’ He knew how much reassurance you need to keep seeing someone, because he was exactly like that. The way his throat closed when he saw you in the bullpen smiling and talking to everybody while he was being pathetic and not fighting for the woman he wanted.
You got a case involving some hostages in a bank near home, which means you were all in the field that morning. Derek and Emily were commanding the task force, Spencer and Penelope were working together to find out more about the suspects. JJ was dealing with the press and you, Hotch and Dave were trying to convince the suspect to surrender without hurting anybody.
The whole block was chaotic, everyone was tense. The bank was full of hostages including children. The odds weren’t good if he could escape there. The snipers were in position to shoot after somebody’s signal. Unfortunately the only request he made was you. He wanted to know the woman that was talking to him through the phone. He would let the woman and the children leave if you went over there.
‘’Absolutely not.’’ Aaron was pissed with this idea and how quickly you accepted it. ‘’You won’t go in there.’’
‘’Hotch if I go right now, we can save the children and the women.’’ He shook his head. ‘’We don’t have a lot of options here. Do you have a better idea?’’
‘’I can’t let you go in there.’’ He looked at you worried and at this point you wouldn’t change your mind.
‘’Hotch, I’ll be right there. The SWAT is ready to go after any signal. I’m carrying a gun and I’m wearing another vest under this shirt.’’ You took off your vest and put the gun in your ankle. ‘’I’ll be fine, Aaron.’’ You reassure him before walking to the bank.
That man felt this tense a couple of times in his life and he was this close to having a heart attack. The image of you walking in and putting some of the hostages out while the gun was pointing at you. There were two unsubs in the case. The woman was the head of the plan, she was the one who chose you to exchange the hostages.
‘’I did what you wanted. Let’s get over this.’’ You spoke firmly and she laughed.
‘’We need you to get us out of here.’’ You nod and come closer to her. ‘’I want a passport to somewhere hot, a car and I want the police out of here.’’ She demands and you analyze her.
She was a typical narcissist. Her plan was to kill the partner, kill you and escape. You knew that she was going to kill you if you didn't attend to her wishes. So you pick up the phone on the counter and after one second Dave picks it up.
‘’She want a passport, a car and the police out.’’ Your voice was low and calm.
‘’She won’t get it.’’ You took a deep breath. ‘’We need to take you out of there.’’
‘’Just get those things.’’ You hung up fast.
Aaron was about to go in there alone when he heard two shots. The camera inside stopped working and suddenly the silence was louder, it was excruciating having no idea of what was happening inside. He saw some of the hostages running outside as more gunshots were heard.
When you hung up the phone the woman decided it was time to kill the partner. She did fast. Two shots in his head and he’s gone. She tried to do the same with you, as you predicted, but you were faster than her. You took the gun out of her hand and threw it away. She becomes physical and punches you a few times in the face and stomach, pushes your hair as you get on your knees. She kicks you pretty hard and you could taste the blood of your nose and face. That's when you took the gun out of your ankle and shot her three times. Your air was missing, your body was hurting and the only thing you could think about was going home and resting with Taylor.
Hotch was the first one to run inside the bank with the SWAT team, when he found you alive and beaten up the relief was visible. You waved at him while he came closer, involving his arms around you. You weren’t expecting that.
‘’I told you I was going to be fine.’’ You closed your eyes and whispered, pulling him closer.
‘’I thought I lost you. When I heard the first gunshots I forgot for a second who I was.” He pulls you away and looks into your eyes. “I, I…” He couldn't say it.
“I am safe now, I swear. I just need to clean my face and try to look less bad for Taylor.” You laugh softly and he caresses your cheek.
“Let's get you cleaned up, alright.” You two walk out of the bank, his arms around your waist and your head on his shoulder.
No one dared to say anything. No one dared to point out that he was unprofessional doing that. You, on the other hand, knew what he wanted to say. The whole time he was standing next to the ambulance his eyes studied your face, sparkling and bright. You knew right there.
“Aaron?” He looked at you concerned. “I love you too.”

You spot the familiar stringy mop of brown hair before he spots you, his head downturned in a book that it doesn't look like he should be reading on government time.
"Agents," Agent Hotchner stands in front of you, a step to the left, "We have a new recruit. Agent L/N," Spencer's head shoots out of his book and around to face you at your name, his gooey brown eyes widening, "Is fresh out of her time at the academy, I've seen her reports and I'm confident she'll be an asset to this team."
Before anyone can get a polite greeting in, a kind smile or a nice to meet you, Spencer's springing out of his seat, rushing you and nearly pushing Agent Hotchner over in his overzealous attempt at a hug.
Someone cries, 'Reid!' and you're wondering if this is common occurrence, if he often bowls people over like a puppy excited to see his owner. But as he laughs wetly into your neck, tears in his eyes while he squeezes you, you're pretty sure this is special treatment.
"Spencer," You gush, grinning hard over his shoulder, "It's good to see you again!"
"You too!" He rocks you back and forth, lanky legs nearly tipping you over, "Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"
"Because it was a nice surprise," You only back away when you see the other agents staring bewilderedly at you, because no matter how kind their smiles are, you don't want to ignore them for much longer in case you come off as rude. Spencer's less willing to let go, but he settles for keeping your arm locked in his grip.
"So, you know Spencer?" A blonde woman asks, slim and pretty. She has an amused smirk on her face, and you nod sheepishly.
"We met in college," You flex your arm, squeezing him closer, "We were study buddies for a while, then he graduated early and left me."
You send a silly glare his way, but he knocks his nose into your cheek as a reply, knowing you're not really vengeful about it.
"That sounds about right," An older man nods, beard greying as he runs a hand over it, "Agent L/N, is it? I remember hearing your name a while back. You've been destined for us, I think."
"That's me," You glance briefly around at the rest of your new team, finding similarly sweet expressions on their faces, "And- and you are?"
"David Rossi," He holds out a hand that you shake with a grin.
"Derek Morgan," A tall man to the left of Agent Hotchner steps up next, followed by the blonde from earlier, "Jennifer Jareau, but most people just call me JJ."
"I'm Emily, uh- Prentiss." A dark haired woman stands beside another blonde, a sleek black pantsuit beside a rainbow-themed dress.
"Penelope Garcia," The latter grins, holding out a hand that has several bracelets tucked around her wrist, "It's nice to meet you! I didn't know Reid had friends in college."
"Or ever," Morgan chuckles, and you squeeze Spencer's hand where he's still holding yours in reassurance.
"We were quite close," You recall lazy mornings in the library, then afternoons sprawled out over the lawn munching on pretzels and fruit, "Neither of us were very social, I think we found solace in that."
"Yeah," Spencer nods, hair flying around his face. You tuck a stray strand behind his ear with a smile as he rambles, "She never asked me to go drinking every friday night."
"Then I think you both need to join us this time," Emily grins, watching fondly as Spencer groans, face-planting into your shoulder, "You can both find out what you've been missing."
You're sure she means expensive booze and scantily-clad patrons, but Spencer's face still rests on your shoulder, and you know what you've really both been missing runs deeper: each other.

DogWood Tree
Artemis. R.
“Only do what your heart tells you” - Princess Diana
(18+ for themes of assault. MINORS DNI! You are responsible for the media you consume. You have been warned.)
----------------------------------------------‐-----------
You were new to the BAU, having only been fresh out of the academy for 5 months, and an official “intern agent” for 3. It was understandable that you'd have hiccups along the way.
Yes, you had the badge, the gun, and the FBI vest you so dearly loved, but they considered you an “Intern Agent” as sort of a preliminary to see how you do with the team. See If you integrate well and adapt to a new habitat. Of course, you were allowed on cases. However, you always had to have a Supervisory Special Agent with you.
In all fairness, you were the youngest. Sometimes you need a guiding hand, not in a babying way-as you are 23 years old with a sound mind and job- but more of a young doe, wide eyed and eager to please.
Eager to impress.
Hotch and Rossi pinpointed that in you the second you walked in for an interview. Nervously playing with your rings, flushed cheeks, and every couple minutes, you'd tuck strands of hair behind your ear. It was sweet, so young and open. Could you really blame them for their instincts? They instantly took a protectiveness over you, treating you like family, almost like a daughter.
Not to mention how sweet the others are, adored with your youth and energy. Penelope gave you stuffed animals upon accidentally learning of your ever growing collection. JJ and Luke somehow memorized your coffee order immediately, and since you tended to show up 40 minutes after everyone, the two often took turns bringing you coffee.
Emily and Morgan were definitely your big brother/sister; they teased you relentlessly, ruffling your hair during training or round table meetings. Being the youngest was something they loved to tease you about. Arguing over who gets to “babysit” first. Morgan likes to hold your badge out of reach and giggle like a psycho when you inevitably climb a chair to reach it. Although the look on his face when Hotch scolds him for teasing is so worth the irritation.
The only one you couldn't quite figure out was Reid.
Spencer Reid.
An anomaly like no other, a mystery by any other name. The man doesn't say much to you outside of work. He's very warm, open, to the others, but he shuts down a bit when it comes to you. In fact, you can count on one hand the conversations you two have shared that didn't involve work. Those moments are beautiful, the soft giggles and his lips quirking up as he gazes at you with something you can't quite put your finger on.
They never last long enough for you to decipher. You can tell when he comes to himself a sudden, sharp, intake of breath before he tenses clears his throat and makes a beeline for the opposite end of the room. It's a bitter end to the brief sweetness.
You've tried to soothe the burn of whatever scorn you've caused from him, bringing him ginseng honey tea because JJ said it was his favorite. Only for him to smile strainly and leave the cup full at the top of his desk…so maybe he's weird about people touching his food and drinks…that's okay! Generosity comes in many forms, so next you tried holding a door open for him and quickly never did it again because the look he gave you made you want to crawl into a closet and rot.
It seems whatever kind favor you do for him irritates him greatly time and time again. It's exhausting and you can't imagine what you've done to warrant such…animosity. You were determined to please. To get to the bottom of this.
You were nothing if not stubborn!
Currently, the team and you are in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Having been flown out the night prior for 4 missing women reports, 2 bodies showed up downstream a river right outside a camp ground. All young, early 20s, camp counselors.
Upon landing Rossi and you were paired and sent to the camp, specifically the cluster of cabins where two of the women bunked together. In the car you both bounced theories back and forth a major one being he was a camp counselor who was rejected/humiliated by other counselors. Perhaps he was a grounds keeper, a sudden stressor has him reacting.
Rossi heads towards the front office intent on having a looj at the files. You trek on to the first cabin, Rebekah Daniel's was the first to go missing. The door was taped off caution signs covering the blood and dirt stains across the porch.
Entering the place was foul, it smelled of something awful and it was throughly trashed. A clear sign of a struggle. You do a swoop of the room where you find a snapped necklace caught under a window pane. Possibly where he had dragged them out.
Hotch calls not long after Rossi and you meet back up. Stating him and Reid might have a more defined geographical location of the unsub. You both conducted interviews with the other campers, splitting them into groups before dwindling down to one on one.
It unfortunately didn't bring much to light, so, heading back to the station you give Rossi and run through of what you found. He squeezes your shoulder, a proud grin on his face. Giving you a "good job, kid." For the effort.
It was time for the second update on JJ and Emily as they interviewed the girl's families. Something felt off the rest of the night. You couldn't pinpoint what exactly, but you were on edge and frustrated with how the interviews had gone…you're missing something. You just know it.
Now, technically you weren’t allowed to get on crime scene sites without a Supervisory Agent with you…but you had a random stroke of luck when remembering the writings on the bathroom stalls out near the campground you and Rossi had Investigated hours prior. So, really, who could blame you?
And that's exactly how you ended up running through the woods in nothing but sweatpants, sneakers, and a baggy t-shirt. It was almost 2am, your phone was gone, your jacket was gone, and most of your dignity was also gone. When you arrived, it was quiet, settled, and you were quick in getting to the stalls and snapping photos of the writing. Intending to study them at the hotel rather than in the woods…in the middle of the night. So imagine your surprise when your full force body slammed into the wall, ears ringing as a boot stomps onto your stomach. You have enough sense to latch on the leg the second time it comes down and use it as leverage to kick up into the man's groin. Scrambling up and over him crashing through the bathroom door frantically dialing Morgan's number.
You can hear him behind you. A snarl sound coming from his throat as he chases, It's predator and prey. Morgan picks up on the 4th ring.
“Yo, this better be good, kid.”
Barely managing a sharp squeal/wail when you're tackled again, phone flying from your grasp. Not hearing the frantic tone of Morgan calling your name. The man - who you now know is the unsub - grabs a fist full of your hair, his hand as big as your head as he shoves your face against the rough dirt and rocks.
“What a sweet little lamb you are. What're you doing all by your lonesome?” his voice was gravely, almost ill sounding, and you cried till your voice was hoarse struggling under him. A horrible sound of a zipper has you tensing, your left arm frees with his sudden pressure change. And you take that opportunity to pull your arm back, then snap it against the unsubs nose, and you can hear the sickening crunch of cartilage and bone. It's pitch black, and you don't notice the steep drop both you and the unsub come close to. Desperate to live and running on animal instincts, you use another pushing point on his outer thigh to create distance. You're up and on your feet, balancing on your left leg to deliver a swift kick to the head with your right when the unsub gets to his knees. motherfuckers got perseverance.
A brief glint catches the moonlight, and your eyes widen. Oh fuck.
He's got a gun.
Your delay was your downfall. In your sudden pause, it gave the unsub enough time to aim and fire. The bullet takes home in your shoulder, stumbling back, almost dazed as the ground gives way, and you plummet down a steep hill.
Oh god...
The team is gonna kill me.

This is nothing but one big rough draft I edited where I could, but yeah, it's not meant to be perfect. I hope you enjoyed it tho! Please feel free to give advice or point out any errors! I have a whole story in my mind, I'm negl. I don't know if I'll continue it, but imma try because I have a huge idea where it goes next so....maybe expect? I'll update more if anything changes.
