Sent into battle to aid strangers in need
Gain independence, our forces will lead
Final solution when all others have failed
Liberation is coming our path has been laid
- Light in the Black, Sabaton
With the recent announcement that the Philippine Army's 4th Special Forces Company would be deployed to join the United Nation's Light Infantry Battalion for peacekeeping operations, I decided to commemorate the moment by remembering the first time the Philippines participated in a UN military operation.
Despite fighting an insurgency within its territory, the Philippines was one of the first countries to respond to the UN call for troops to aid South Korea during the Korean war. This force the Philippines would send would be known as the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK).
The first unit to arrive from the Philippines was the 10th Battalion Combat Team (BCT). Initially the unit was supposed to be an armored unit, with a company of Sherman tanks. However, these tanks were sent ahead of the battalion and, with UN forces trapped in the Pusan permeter and in desparate need for armor, US forces comandeered the tanks and promised the Philippines to replace them. Sadly, due to logistics issues, replacement Shermans never came. The unit did, however, recieve M24 Chaffee tanks, which would serve as the main armor for the unit for the entirity of its deployment.
The 10th BCT, due to its experience in counter-insurgency warfare, would be assigned to the rear lines of UN forces in order to hunt down enemy forces that remained in the rear. But later on they would be deployed to the front, attaching themselves to a US division.
During the battle of Yultong, the 10th BCT would distinguish themselves by holding the line despite impossible odds. Facing an entire enemy regiment on its own, and suddenly finding itslef outflanked on both sides, the 10th BCT managed to hold the line, never retreating despite the onslaught.

Chilean Army 1st Cav Regt (Grenadiers)
Part of my Ukrainian War Universe
Tumblr media
IMU the tensions in Peru and the ongoing armed forces modernization in Argentina under Millei, as well as Bolivian threats to the north and a growing pivot to BRICS, would lead to a renewed expansion of the Chilean Armed Forces planned under the final months of the late Sebastian Pinera presidency and now starting to bear fruit under Gabriel Boric who was the only leftist leader in South America to speak out in support of Ukraine to counteract all these especially given the leftist attitudes in Peru against the rightist presidency of the past years especially in the country's south.
IRL it is a one squadron/battalion (termed Group) regiment that maintains traditions of the Chilean Army cavalry and its a mainly mounted formation that for nearly two centuries, off an on, has provided the mounted travelling escort to the presidency and in wartime is operationally controlled by the 3rd Mountain Division. It also provides guards of honor for state visits. It reports as part of the Santiago Garrison Command alongside the 1st MP Regiment.
IMU such a commitment would allow thus the regiment to have a mixed role as both presidential guard and as a combat formation with two out of its 8 squadrons - the seventh being the training squadron OPCON under the Equestrian School in Quilotta's Camp San Isidro and the 8th being the dismounted honors squadron that provides dismounted public duties in the capital - being mounted ceremonial cavalry and the 3rd being mountain recon that in wartime is a part of the 3rd Division alongside the other two. All of the groups have a conscript company in keeping with the Chilean practice of conscription in the armed forces (the 4th armored group has two). The three mounted groups also have a veternary unit.
The Honors Group also hosts the Cuadro Negro exhibition team - a formation IMU mixed with personnel of the 3rd Cavalry Regiment in the 4th Division, since it is where it had been originated.
The 1st Group also hosts a vehicle company, motorbike company to provide force multipliers to the Carabineros in presidential events and a coach squadron which takes care of the presidential horse drawn coaches and the presidential cars.
Unlike the lancers IRL, each of the ceremonial mounted squadrons are organized as lancers and dragoons/mounted rifles to mirror the historical Chilean cavalry of years goneby. The mounted recon squadons of 3rd Group are trained as combat soldiers only - while the 2 other groups are trained in both combat operations and ceremonial roles, alongside the Horse Artillery Group of the Tacna Regiment - IMU a regimental OPCON unit in ceremonial events only due to its use of horses.
The regiment's other combat capabilities are 4 armoured groups - 2 armored and 1 cavalry and mechanized infantry each in support of elements of the 2nd Infantry Division (Mot) and the Santiago Garrison Command. The 1st Armored Group, which uses MBTs, operates M60s and Leopard 1s, the 2nd is a light formation armed with M10 Bookers, the 3rd is an armored cav unit with Marder 2s and the nationally produced MOWAG Piranhas via FAMAE which performs recon and light attack roles and the 4th is the largest of the groups performing mechanized infantry roles in a mix of IFVs and APCs in support of the cavalry and armor, with the M3 Bradley, M59s, Marder 2s and the Centauros in assault gun role also to provide support to the combat elements of the 2nd Division's two BCTs.

4th part of the make-up selfies.
The shirt that I am wearing is the company shirt I got while I was at BCT ( Basic Combat Training) back in 2017 at Fort Leonardwood. The front design you see there is one of the options we were given to have there. You can't see it here of course, but the main design on the back of it was a drawing that one of our fellow privates drew. It is so kickass! I'll take a picture of it so you guys can see it. It really is amazing! That person can draw, I tell you what. I can't remember if it was a guy or a girl. That time feels so long ago and yet at the same time it feels like I was just there yesterday.
The saying, "Lay Down Some Hate" was something that was said in the Army a good bit.
The saying on the sleeve "Don't start no shit, Won't be no shit" was also something that was said a good bit in my company especially by two of my Drill Sergeants. One of them was a very interesting man who believed in me like no one else. He was always telling me to keep going, Jones and such. He got a transfer order a little bit after the half of the certain number of weeks that I was in BCT. The other two were pretty cool too, but it took them a pretty good while to respect and like me though. I was a bit headstrong on some things. I suppose getting off of Profile just to do the things that I needed to do to graduate so I could go to AIT helped with that quite a bit. LOL!

Sebuah postingan dari twitter @.trivinath tentang selingkuh. Jadi inget waktu dulu kuliah pernah pacaran hampir 5th, tepatnya 4th 8bulan, lalu diputusin dengan alasan aku terlalu emosional. Setelah diselidiki taunya ybs selingkuh. Gamau banget dipertahanin. Iye, w sempet minta untuk jangan putus. Ternyata udah deket sama cewe sebelum putus, bilangnya udah mau putus, udah jalan berdua tapi bilang ke aku lagi ke rumah nenek. Mantap. Giliran setelah putus ngomongnya “kamu tuh sabar banget tau Yan ngadepin aku” halah kntl.
Wkwkwkw.
Alhamdulillah lama kelamaan hidupku tenang. Banget. Kejadian diselingkuhin itu emang ngasih pelajaran banyak banget tentang cowo. Ya bener emang jodoh itu cerminan diri. Kalo suka rebahan ya jodohnya juga ternyata suka rebahan. Mantap. Mungkin kalo pernah selingkuh nanti jodohnya..... ya siapatau kan.

Why I decided to become a creative technologist...
Monday 4th March 2019
Why did I decide to become a creative technologist? It was more all rounded, a mixture of art, design, engineering, computer science, etc. No limits to what I can do and provides an opportunity to further discover and experience new/different things. Prepares me a lot for the future..
Why goto Uni and why AUT? To further my studies in a course I will enjoy while also working towards receiving a degree. Will help prepare me for the future in terms of getting a job and for new and upcoming jobs that may be available in the future. I chose AUT as the university has a good reputation on courses that interest me and it offers the BCT programme.
What is creative technologies? I believe creative technologies is very focused on preparing us for the future. New things are constantly being created to benefit the lives of humanity. These new things are designed and created by creative people. Us creative individuals are being shaped to learn to express our artistic and creative side to potentially use that to benefit our world.
How do I envision my career in this field? I envision my future to be exposed to a wide variety of options in terms of career path as creative technologist is very broad. I may continue to experiment with career paths to discover what I want to potentially continue to pursue.

finale
well there goes another semester, and again i’m still not 100% satisfied with what I ended up creating.
and again for what, like the 4th sem in a row, the reason why is time management and dealing with effective ways of managing the weeks that just roll by faster and faster.
this semester i started off with a good mindset towards thinking about studio, and created alot of tangible and measurable conceptualisation work, but as the semester moved on into the “sound barrier” stage, Simon and I’s attitude to studio stagnated due to something that to this day I still cannot discern. maybe its time for me to leave colab? if im obviously not making the most out of this degree and not utilising the money im spending as effectively as possible then what the fuck is the point me being here?
now i’m stuck in a position where i still don’t have a trade as a creative person, i still can’t apply knowledge learnt through a class creatively anywhere because i just don’t have one skill. a jack of all trades, master of none.
not having a specific trade inside this degree is honestly the most daunting thing within colab, not only are you fighting against your own self doubt that you may not be as adequate for a job as someone else, you’re also fighting against other peoples doubt who just judge your project at face value, and give you the “yeah that’s so cool!” response. i hate that a crazy amount, because it’s this whole subconscious mindset that “my project is better than this.” which is just such a pointless waste of energy.
take for example the work i did this semester for magenta and trying to get that running. I tried my hardest and put in so much fucking effort into learning how it worked and how I could use it to my advantage within our project but in the end I had to end up using a fake simulation of an AI that takes one image and shuffles it around. a kick in the teeth for me trying to push myself and learn something new in my eyes. my point is, is that i can guarantee that if someone who actually understood coding or back end design, tried the same things it would take them 10x less time and would create an outcome much better than anything I could’ve ever created within one semester.
it just feels like i keep trying to escape from creating a mediocre project by coming up with elaborate ideas and well thought out conceptual questions, but the overall fabrication and lack of management i put into it just ends up making my projects fall into the normal mediocre BCT projects basket.
now it’s even worse because people have put in a crazy amount of time into interpreting the soundscape I created and have made some beautiful pieces of art in response to our concept. but little do they know that my code is the most basic and terrible representation of the concept conceivable, so they’ll come in with high hopes and i’ll be there to watch the excitement and anticipation drain right away from their faces.
its at this stage that i find myself just confused at the next step. but i guess it’s just time to take a long well earned break and think stuff over.
in response to the project as a project, i’ve definitely had worse and i think that the effort Simon and I put into this was alot higher than our other projects, which is reflective in the end outcome and the conceptual questions arisen from “sen”, and yeah this was just a concept test so we have next year to build upon what we’ve created, but it still doesn’t excuse the fact that I’m just disappointed in myself for how I went about managing time and creating the digital aspect of the project, arguably the largest and most import part.

CELL PROCESSING MARKET ANALYSIS (2018-2026)
Cell processing includes a series of activities from collection of cells from donor, extraction of cell till the storage, and distribution of cells to receiver for cell therapy. Cell processing involves distinct processes of cell collection, cell isolation, cell analysis, cell expansion, washing and concentration, preservation, and distribution.
Cell therapy is defined as the administration of living whole cells in a patient for the treatment of a disease. The origin of the cells can be from the same individual (autologous source) or from another individual (allogeneic source). Different types of cells can be used for cell therapy such as hematopoietic stem cell, embryonic stem cell, skeletal muscle cells, mesenchymal cells, and neural cells. Cell therapy is used for treating cancers, autoimmune diseases, urinary and infectious diseases, rebuilding damaged cartilage in joints, repairing spinal cord injuries, improving a weakened immune system, and helping patients with neurological disorders.
Global Cell Processing Market: Drivers
The global cell processing market size is expected to increase, owing to rising demand for cell therapy. Cell therapy is the only curative treatment for many diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disease, and neural disease. According to the Worldwide Network for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (WBMT), in 2012, around one million stem cell transplantations were performed, worldwide.
Continuous research and development for new innovative techniques for cell isolation, concentration, and preservation is another major factor driving the cell processing market size. According to University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) 2016 research report, researchers have developed a new magnetic ratcheting system to separate and organize cells suspended in fluid samples by their subtle biochemical differences. The system sorts cells more quickly and accurately and perform simple, rapid automation of cell analysis and can separate therapeutic cells from non-therapeutic cells. Global Cell Processing
Market: Restraints
The major restraining factors affecting the cell processing market revenue includes safety issues for patients, commercialization of cells. It also includes safety issues for preservation and distribution of cells or customized cell therapies for patients. Failures of stem cell therapy trials due to stringent rules and regulations also hamper the cell processing market growth. For instance, in 2014, a U.S.-based company Athersys Inc. along with Pfizer conducted a clinical trial on stem cell product Multistem infusion in patients with ulcerative colitis. The trial failed to meet efficacy end points from the FDA in interim analysis.
Global Cell Processing Market: Regional Analysis
North America holds dominant position in the cell processing market, owing to new technological developments in the field. For instance, Cesca Therapeutics, a U.S.-based company, launched a new device for cell processing CAR-TXpress in 2017. The device integrates multicomponent automation steps, including T-cell isolation, purification, culture expansion and washing, single cassette-based automated -196°C cryopreservation, and retrieval of cells.
Asia Pacific cell processing market revenue is expected to witness significant growth during the forecast period due to increasing number of cell banks in economies such as China, India, Singapore, and Malaysia. A Singapore-based company Cordlife has the largest cord blood bank in Singapore and is the first bank in Southeast Asia to achieve dual accreditation from the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) & Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).
Global Cell Processing Market: Competitive Landscape
Major players operating in the global cell processing market include Beckman Coulter, Inc. (subsidiary of Danaher Corporation), Becton, Dickinson and Company, GE Healthcare, Lonza Group, Merck KGaA, Miltenyi Biotec, Sartorius AG, Stemcell Technologies, Terumo Bct, Inc. (subsidiary of Terumo Corporation), Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., Cesca Therapeutics, Biosafe, Cryo-Cell, and Americord.

About Playtesting...
1st Test, participant: Chris (BCT student)
Problems with the blinding effect of the goggles (under duress, the lenses and the frames separate and create a hole that shows the environment clearly)
Audio issues, Robert’s laptop wanted to update and the sound levels in the recording were incongruent
2nd Test, same participant after tweaking goggles and laptop issues
Fanning motion with the cane was not smooth - the rubber ball attached to the end in order to not damage the floor held too much friction. Same issue whether on linoleum or carpet. Decided to remove the ball for future simulations.
Placement of the button was not optimum and Chris found it difficult to find.
Chris questioned whether the particular blindness given with his choice of goggles was ‘blind enough’. He expected to see less than he did.
Chris understood the concept and the intention of the simulation.
He said he had difficulties with the cane and that he did not find it natural.
3rd Test, participant: Victoria, International Tourism Management student
Understood the instructions well, enjoyed the experience, understood the idea and concept and had no difficulties with the prototypes.
4th Test, participant: Liam, BCT student
Could not find the button, asked for help - instructions unclear?
Seemed to enjoy the experience, despite the confusion
Challenging due to sight being lost, enjoyed the challenge
This loss of sight also made Liam concerned and disoriented
This feeling was lessened by the friendliness of the voice over
5th Test, participant: Max, BCT student
Participant went rogue, was impatient and didn’t wait for or listen to the instructions on the voice over
Used cane naturally and competently even without instructions
It was an ‘eye-opening’ experience, understood the intention of the simulation but it still affected Max on an emotional level
Max said the instructions were too slow in the beginning, then too fast paced
6th Test, participant: Patricia, BCT student
Began playing with cane immediately in the appropriate fashion
Enjoyed voice over humor
Educational but already knew the facts
Felt more enlightened about the viewpoint of visual impairment, though the experience was brief.
Some test from week11
1st Text, participant: Fox
It’s good it works
Good voice over
2nd Text, participant: Astar
Can’t feel the bottle caps unless on top of it
Unclear what to do in the beginning
Goggles might of made it better
The button was scary (gave a fright to Astar when she pressed the vibrating button)
Made it better with the goggles
Conclusion:
It's good to hear that everyone who attended our project can understand the audio. And we might need to find out how can we improve the goggles’ quality (how to make them more complex). About ”it’s hard to find the button” I think we should encourage the testers to use the cane to search the place of the button.

COMMEMORATIVE MESSAGE IN HONOR OF THE 16TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE TELEVISION PREMIERE OF BAND OF BROTHERS
Ladies and gentlemen, to all the people of the United States of America and Canada, to all our remaining living veterans of the Second World War of 1939-1945 and of all conflicts past and present and their families, to our veterans, active servicemen and women, reservists and families of the entire United States Armed Forces and the Canadian Armed Forces, and to all the uniformed military and civil security services of the Allied combatants of this conflict, to all the immediate families, relatives, children and grandchildren of the deceased veterans, fallen service personnel and wounded personnel of our military services and civil uniformed security and civil defense services, to all our workers, farmers and intellectuals, to our youth and personnel serving in youth uniformed and cadet organizations and all our athletes, coaches, judges, sports trainers and sports officials, and to all our sports fans, to all our workers of culture, music, traditional arts and the theatrical arts, radio, television, digital media and social media, cinema, heavy and light industry, agriculture, business, tourism and the press, and to all our people of the free world:
On this day in 1941, the controversial anti-Jewish laws were enacted in Slovakia clearing the way for a full blown attack against the Jewish communities in that country.
It was also on this day in 1944 when Bulgarian communists plus fellow supporters of the opposition to the Bulgarian fascist government, led by the Fatherland Front, overthrew it through a coup d’etat in Sofia.
And in 1991, Tajikistan broke away from the Soviet Union to become an independent republic.
Today marks the formal admission of California as a constituent member of the United States in 1850.
And ladies and gentlemen, today, we mark as one people the 16th year anniversary since the 2001 premiere of the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, based on the real stories of Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th PIR, 3rd BCT, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), XVIII Airborne Corps, United States Army, during the Second World War in the European Theater of Operations, from their vanguard actions as part of their division from the Normandy airborne landings up to the assault on the Eagle’s Nest, all the way fighting in almost every battle of the war from 1944 to 1945 and written into a book by the late Stephen Ambrose. Today, only a few veterans are left of the once great company of 200 who served in the war, whose stories were retold on television and have now entered our culture of today, for these stories of bravery and courage in times of war have become part of our lives.
It was the first of what is now four series produced by HBO based on the stories of veterans of the United States Armed Forces – what we now know as the HBO War Series, with a fourth, Masters of the Air, coming soon to TV screens everywhere, preparing to join the ranks of this great franchise of dramas that honor the service of those who fought for their country in times of war. As we prepare for its premiere let us once more recall the vailiant men who have inspired these stories and honor them with our words and actions, especially those of the Second World War who are the inspiration behind Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Note
Asks! 1, 8, 27 and 58! ^^
Nice ones, very nice.
1. 1st-Introdiction [Life of Brian/Soundtrack Version] I have loved Monty Python since watching "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" when I was about 15-16 years old. I thought it was pretty funny. My love for it became deeper and it also became even funnier to me when I watched it in a college history course years later. That professor was awesome! 💖 Monty Python! 2nd-This Kiss by Faith Hill I have loved her music since I was about 8-9 years old. 3rd-Photograph by Def Leppard I have loved their music since I was in the 6th grade. "The Vault" was an awesome way to get exposed to their music. 4th-Pilate With the Crowd (Welease Wodger) [Life of Brian/Soundtrack Version] I cracked the fuck up watching this film. It is so hilarious and awesome! 5th-Introduction Monty Python These guys are crazy, but really funny. 6th-Crush on You by The Jets I discovered this song probably between my preteen to teen years. 💖 this song!
This was a very interesting music/iTunes shuffle. Almost everything is from Monty Python. LOL! I swear I had it on shuffle.
8. I was outside for a good bit of the day today helping my boyfriend clean pools. He is a pool technician.
27. Frozen 2. It was freakin' epic! If you haven't seen it yet, go see it! It is worth the money. See it anyway you are able to except illegally that is. I don't want to see you go to jail.
58. Ireland or Las Vegas for a fun experience with my boyfriend if that is an option. North Carolina to go where Grandma Jones is buried at for the first time. I was in BCT at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri when she died and after that life just became way too chaotic and I just can't afford it IRL right now. I wish I could. I need and want to pay my final respects so bad.
Anyway, thanks for the asks @apparentlynotreallyfinnish ! Have a great night!

Cell Expansion Market 2026 Size, Share, Trends, Growth, Regional Outlook And Forecast to 2026
Tumblr media
Cell expansion is the large scale artificial production of daughter cells from a single cell, to support medical research. Rising preference for regenerative medicines offering faster results, and emergence of cell-based therapies with high patient compatibility are expected to fuel the cell expansion market during the forecast period (2017–2025). Regenerative medicine helps the body to form new functional tissue to replace defective or lost ones providing treatment for conditions with inadequate therapies. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Services, in 2016, NIH invested around US$ 1.5 billion in stem cell research projects. Increasing government and private sector expenditure on cell-based research therapies is expected to boost growth of the market for cell expansion in the near future. The number of FDA approvals for clinical trials of stem cell-based treatments is rapidly increasing. According to a report published by Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, in 2013, around 69 cell therapies with clinical trials were under review with the FDA. The therapeutic classes represented in these trials include skin diseases, cardiovascular diseases, transplantations, eye conditions, cancer and associated conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, genetic disorders, and digestive disorders.
Increasing incidence of chronic medical conditions is expected to boost growth of the cell expansion market over the forecast period
The increasing cases of chronic and rare medical conditions around the world is another key factor driving demand for cell expansion. For instance, according to World Health Organization (WHO), around 15 million people are projected to suffer from cancer by 2020. The rising prevalence of cancer, is in turn, expected to boost growth of the cell expansion market. Cell-based therapy is also a promising approach for treating chronic kidney disease and is presently the focus of preclinical studies. Recent advancements in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering have created cell-based approaches for the treatment of renal failure. Such treatments include biotechnological approach using implantation of bioengineered kidney constructs, transplanting cells, and bio-artificial renal systems. However, lack of high-tech instrumentation and skilled workforce coupled with the high cost of operations are expected to hamper growth of the cell expansion market.

Studio 5 - Interativity
I’ve been doing some research on interactive light projection, and quite honestly, it got me pretty confused.
There seems to be numerous ways to make it interactive, but at an expense. My first thought was to the interactive whiteboards that high schools would use, they would set something up on an ordinary whiteboard, then project onto it, and could use pens and stuff to draw and interact with it. However, these are very expensive.
My next thought was to do with a project I saw from some students in BCT last semester, where they made a light projected that when touched, would change. I did some digging and found that they used interactive paint. After researching more into interactive paint, I think that it could be a good option for me going forward, but wanted to get some further options.
My third and final option was using Arduino. I still have my arduino kit from my first year, and thought about using that to make a button or something. I was thinking about designs that I could use with the arduino, and sketched them out.
Tumblr media
First option was to just have 2 buttons, one to increase the years and another to decrease the years. 2nd option was to have a slider, but I wasn’t sure how to do this, I know you can buy them to fit into an arduino board, but I want something big that fits onto the wall, that captures the eye, not some small plastic thing. 3rd option was to have multiple buttons that represent a year, so you press a certain button to go to a certain year. the 4th and final option was a twisting thing, like a volume button on a stereo, that when twisted in one direction the years would go up, and the other direction the years would go down.
At the moment, I’m torn between using conductive paint to represent a slider, or to use the twisting knob. I know how to do the twisting knob, and already have the parts needed to do it, whereas with the conductive paint, I don’t know what I am doing and would need to go out and purchase the materials.

Rise of Space, Image and Sound Project Week 12
Playtesting Week
Laura suggested that we should do some playtesting outside bct.
1st Test, participant: Chris (BCT student)
Problems with the blinding effect of the goggles (under duress, the lenses and the frames separate and create a hole that shows the environment clearly)
Audio issues, Robert’s laptop wanted to update and the sound levels in the recording were incongruent
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
4th Test, participant: Liam, BCT student
Could not find the button, asked for help - instructions unclear?
Seemed to enjoy the experience, despite the confusion
Challenging due to sight being lost, enjoyed the challenge
This loss of sight also made Liam concerned and disoriented
This feeling was lessened by the friendliness of the voice over
Tumblr media
5th Test, participant: Max, BCT student
The participant went rogue, was impatient and didn’t wait for or listen to the instructions on the voice over
Used cane naturally and competently even without instructions
It was an ‘eye-opening’ experience, understood the intention of the simulation but it still affected Max on an emotional level
Max said the instructions were too slow in the beginning, then too fast-paced
6th Test, participant: Patricia, BCT student
Began playing with cane immediately in the appropriate fashion
Enjoyed voice-over humour
Educational but already knew the facts
Felt more enlightened about the viewpoint of visual impairment, though the experience was brief
