Create awareness of the dangers posed by landmines.

Having opened for signature in 1997, over 160 States are now parties to the treaty, formally known as the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction. 

“We sometimes make progress on clearing mines only to see it rolled back”, Mr. Guterres said, stressing that “we cannot be content simply with advocacy and campaigning to create awareness of the dangers posed by landmines.” 

“The United Nations Charter calls us to complete the work: to survey, clear and destroy these deadly devices”, the UN chief highlighted. 

In addition to indiscriminately killing and maiming thousands globally, landmines, explosive remnants of war and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) hamper social and economic developments, keep farmers from their fields, close schools, hinder reconstruction, and block safe delivery of humanitarian aid.

3+4 april - går tog jag en Yin yoga klass på nyöppnade stället i Hurstbridge. En stund in i mina tankar och tog beslutet att åka tillbaka till Manly den 25/4 och hem 3 veckor tidigare vilket blir 20/5. Otroligt skönt och sov så gott hela natten. Idag den 4april ska vi vara barnvakt åt lilla Ollie 4 år. Bilder i två omgångar.

the elements that bring usage to the life of everyday , when disabled or removed or non functioned in condition .. create an alternative within and without .. 

life teaches and the body listens and executes to its best availability .. adjusts the routine .. accepts the changes .. and life moves on in that adjustment ..

then one day those lost elements decide to come back or function back in th order they were meant to be .. and in that moment you realise how worthy those elements were ..

many loose the workings and still exist .. we cannot fathom their loss .. unless God forbid we suffer the same .. 

so we get back .. they do not .. we are fortunate .. they are too , but within limits .. appreciate this .. you lost and came back to normalcy .. they did not but still exist and live ..

selflessness is a boon .. do it .. forget it .. its done .. the gain did occur somewhere  … it may never be recognised .. do not lament .. it was not done for accreditation .. it should never be .. do yours .. 

we do ours .. and all accept and acknowledge .. and gloat over it .. we must never .. irony is that the home it is done for never does .. and the belief in the within is that it was deserved .. another irony ..

rest .. head down .. work .. outside shall never believe the acknowledge ..

Statement from the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action 2023; April 4th.

For the millions living amidst the chaos of armed conflicts — especially women and children — every step can put them in danger’s path.

Even after the fighting stops, conflicts often leave behind a terrifying legacy:  landmines and explosive ordnance that litter communities.  Peace brings no assurance of safety when roads and fields are mined, when unexploded ordnance threatens the return of displaced populations, and when children find and play with shiny objects that explode.

The United Nations Mine Action Service gathers partners together to remove these deadly weapons, support national authorities, and ensure safe access to homes, schools, hospitals and farmers’ fields.  The Service also supported the design of the Black Sea Grain Initiative and the safe export of grain and fertilizer from Ukrainian ports.

Yet, broader global efforts are essential to safeguard people from mines.   I urge Member States to ratify and fully implement the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, the Convention on Cluster Munitions and the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons.

On this International Day, let’s take action to end the threat of these devices of death, support communities as they heal, and help people return and re-build their lives in safety and security.
