Contract Details: Jon Feliciano und Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles

Die San Francisco 49ers brachten mit Offensive Lineman Jon Feliciano und Linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles zwei ihrer eigenen Free Agents zurück zum Team. Beide haben kürzlich erneut Ein-Jahres-Verträge bei den Niners unterschrieben. Während Feliciano zu seiner zweiten Spielzeit in die Bay zurückkehren wird, ist es für Flannigan-Fowles bereits die sechste Saison in Red & Gold. Der Wert des Contracts von Feliciano wird mit $ 2.750.000 taxiert und Flannigan-Fowles wird zwar $ 1.935.000 verdienen, aber aufgrund des Four-Year Qualifying Contracts nur mit $ 1.292.500 gegen den Salary Cap der Niners zählen.

What might have been ...

All week long, text messages featuring memes like this one floated over the Internet, launched my way - like smoke signals of hope and faith - by championship-starved Detroit relatives of mine,

The tribal drumbeat continued Sunday and only intensified as the Detroit Lions took early control of their game against the San Francisco 49ers.

According to the oddsmakers, the Lions were supposed to lose this game and, yet, here they were, savoring a 24-7 lead at halftime. A Lions victory seemed not only possible, but likely. They were going to the Super Bowl for the first time ever!

Then the third quarter started ...

My phone went silent as the collapse began. When it started chirping again, the faith and hope had turned to shock and anguish: "Damn - we had it." ... "Total meltdown" .... "What the hell!" ....

Sure, somebody eventually pointed out that, all in all, it was a good season for the Lions. Yeah, but that doesn't quite ease the the sting of what might have been - what should have been - but wasn't.

Day 21: Sunday January 21, 2024 - "Spirit of Detroit"

In the last 7 days, The Lions have doubled the number of playoff wins in my lifetime and now just one more win away from their first Super Bowl. We put on the Blue Lights, made a table of snacks, and got into cheering the game together on the projector. Coach Campbell's Lions enforced their will on the Bucs and ground out another big win. Now they go on the road to play the 49ers for their first NFC Championship since the fifties and I can't barely wait a whole week to do this again. The Lions haven't been this good anywhere but Madden in my adult life. And its fun to believe that they could go all the way.

In der ersten Phase der Free Agency bemühten sich die San Francisco 49ers um einen Veteran Linebacker als Ersatz für den verletzten Dre Greenlaw. Das Team schien sich mit dem ehemaligen Minnesota Vikings und San Diego Chargers Inside Linebacker, Eric Kendricks, auf einen Ein-Jahres-Vertrag geeinigt zu haben, bevor Kendricks aus dem Deal ausstieg und bei den Dallas Cowboys anheuerte. Die 49ers einigten sich schließlich mit De'Vondre Campbell auf einen Ein-Jahres-Vertrag. Campbell spielte zuvor in der NFL für die Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals und Green Bay Packers.
