Methods of Mounting a 450 Bushmaster Muzzle Brake
A few muzzle accessories are welded by a gun’s manufacturer onto the barrel. However, most have female threads meant to mount to a gun’s barrel using the male threads on the gun. For your gun to have a proper orientation with a 450 Bushmaster muzzle brake, the threads of the accessory should be locked in place. Below are a few mounting methods that secure the brake onto your gun’s barrel.
Thread-locking compound
Using a thread-locking compound to secure your gun’s accessory to the barrel is a simple and inexpensive choice. Though the compound guarantees a tight fit, the heat that repeated firing will generate might liquefy some thread-locking compounds and render them ineffective. When buying the compound, opt for one that can withstand high heat so that you are sure the muzzle brake does not become loose when firing.
Jam nut
A jam nut is a thin nut that you will thread onto your gun’s barrel before mounting a 450 Bushmaster muzzle brake. After threading the brake onto the barrel and ensuring its orientation is correct, you will tighten the jam nut against the brake to hold it in place. Jam nuts are commonly used for barrel threads with an approximately similar diameter to the barrel on which they are used.
Crush washer
This is a cone-shaped device inserted onto your weapon’s muzzle threads. The cone’s narrow ends face the rifle’s rear and are backed onto the barrel’s un-threaded section. The 450 Bushmaster muzzle brakeis threaded onto the barrel before the crush washer is crushed to hold it in place. To use a crush washer, the muzzle threads should have similar diameters compared to the barrel.
Muzzle threads are diverse though there is some commonality among those of one caliber. Ensure the threads on the muzzle brake you buy matches that of your barrel when using the above mounting methods. However, there are thread adapters you can get if matching threads are unavailable.

Ruger Releases New Rifles Chambered in 350 Legend at NRAAM

Ruger had three rifles chambered for the new Winchester-designed straight-walled .350 Legend cartridge at the NRA Annual Meeting in Indy last week.
The new round, which premiered at SHOT Show earlier this year and caused buzz for its attributes that included a claim to the throne of the fastest production straight wall cartridge on the market, offers more energy than the classic .30-30 Win. with less recoil than the .243 Win. Ruger this month added the chambering to two models of their American Ranch Rifle and one of their AR-556 MPR.
“We heard our customers loud and clear, and are proud to answer their call,” said Ruger President and CEO Chris Killoy. “We anticipate the woods of Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, and many other states will be full of new Ruger rifles this fall.”
The .350-caliber MPR uses a 16.38-inch nitrided barrel with a radial-port muzzle brake that uses 1/2x28TPI threads. The rifle includes a Ruger Elite 452 AR-trigger, Magpul furniture and a 15-inch free-float handguard with M-LOK slots. MSRP is $1,099.
The two models of Ruger American Ranch rifles chambered for the new round differ by having a standard (13.75-inch) and compact (12.50-inch) lengths of pull on a flat dark earth synthetic stock. The rifles feature a 16.38-inch cold hammer-forged threaded barrel with a 1-in-16-inch twist rate. They come standard with a five-round metal AR-style magazine, one-piece Picatinny scope base, Ruger Marksman adjustable trigger, and an ambi tang safety. MSRP is $549.
The Ruger American Ranch Rifles chambered in .350 Legend both have an FDE stock and 16.38-inch barrels, differing in their stock length-of-pull.
Aimed at the increasing number of “straight-wall-cartridge-compliant” deer-hunting states, the .350 looks to capitalize on the trend that has seen new rounds such as the .450 Bushmaster grow in popularity in the past few years. Winchester contends the Legend offers a flatter trajectory and better terminal performance over their competitors while remaining compliant in most states.
Winchester is currently offering the Legend in a variety of loads including a 350-grain open tip Super Suppressed subsonic, a 150-grain Extreme Point, a 145-grain FMJ, and a 180-grain Power Point.

Specifically engineered for use on our .450 Bushmaster Caliber Rifle and Pistol, this quality steel Nor’Easter Muzzle Brake features three compensating gas ports on top and a closed bottom to help control muzzle rise, and 3 back slanted slots on each side to mitigate recoil and offer a muzzle brake effect.
Threading is 11/16″ x 24 T.P.I. (threads per inch). Wrench flats are machined on the threaded end, and the finish is black manganese phosphate. Made in the USA.

This two-hour course discusses both concealed carry and open carry draw stroke. WISR instructors will guide you through the Four-Step Draw Stroke sequence, which is a critical skill to ensure a safe, quick and efficient presentation. Topics will include: accessing your handgun, garment control, gun hand grip, two handed presentation, shooting fundamentals and holstering. This class is hands on with practicals and live fire drills. Students taking this class will be authorized to use a holster on our range at 20% speed.

The Utah Concealed Handgun Permit in conjunction with a Maine Concealed Handgun Permit allows you to legally carry a concealed handgun in 35 states. This is a 4 hour class taught by NRA and Utah certified instructors. Topics will include Utah laws pertaining to carrying a concealed handgun, and fundamentals of shooting. At the completion of the class you will possess a completed application and fingerprint card. You must possess a Maine Concealed Handgun Permit to apply for a non-resident Utah permit.

Instructors will identify your handgun needs and suggest the best handgun for you. This is a classroom only training. This course meets the basic requirements for Maines CCW permit.
