What is Bolts? Different types of Bolts?
A bolt is indeed a fastener with a male thread on the outside and needs a nut with a female thread that matches it. Bolts are utilized to fasten and assemble parts with aligned holes that don't have threads. Usually, a matching nut is used with a bolt. The main features of a bolt are the shaft and the head. The part of the bolt shaft that is not threaded is called the shank. The part that is threaded is called the bolt thread.
Here is a discussion about different types of bolts:
ASTM A193 B8 Bolts:
The A193 B8 Material is for alloys made of stainless steel. MostĀ ASTM A193 B8 BoltsĀ that meet this specification are made of the popular alloy grade 304 and the marine grade stainless steel 316. In this case, these parts, which are fasteners like ASME SA193 Grade B8 Hex Bolts, threaded rods, etc., are often found in valves, flanges, pressure vessels, and fittings.
ASTM A193 B8M Bolts:
Austenitic stainless steel bolts of grade B8 are what people call them. ASTM A193 B8m Bolts are made out of alloy 316, while grade B8 bolts are made out of alloy 304. The A193 B8M Heavy Hex Bolts are better than grade B8 because they are less likely to rust in brine solutions and seawater. This makes them a good choice for marine engineering. These bolts are made of stainless steel and may also be called marine grade. The ASME SA193 B8M Nuts are either treated with a carbide solution or annealed in a solution.

A320 Grade L7 Bolts:
According to the mechanical specifications of the A320 Grade L7 Bolts, the A320 Gr L7 Stud material must be tested for impact, tension, and hardness. The A320 Gr L7 Hdg specification includes austenitic and ferritic grades of stainless steel.Ā ASTM A320 L7 BoltsĀ are designed to work well at LOW temperatures. Most valves, flanges, fittings, and pressure vessels have these fasteners on them.
ASTM F468 Bolts:
ASTM F468 Bolts is a standard for non-ferrous, commercially made fasteners like studs and bolts with diameters between 14" and about 1 12". These fasteners have different grades of alloys, such as titanium grade 5, Monel 400, 405, and K500, Inconel 625, aluminium alloys, copper alloys, and so on. The specification covers bolts, studs, and screws with fine and coarse threads.
Fittings made of nickel alloy tubes:
An alloy of nickel Alloys with nickel as the main elements are used to make pipe fittings. Nickel and copper can be separated into two solid pieces. Nickel alloy tube fittings have a wide range of resolvability between iron, chromium, and nickel, which means they can make many different alloys. There are many kinds of nickel fittings, such as union, elbow, couplings, bends, tees, reducers, caps, nipples, stub ends, etc. It is used in many industries to connect pipes, assemble machines, assemble parts for cars, etc.Ā
Conclusion:
The part of the bolt shaft that is not threaded is called the shank. The part that is threaded is called the bolt thread. Usually, a matching nut is used with a bolt. The main features of a bolt are the shaft and the head.
