The Role Of Voice Recognition Technology In AI And Machine Learning.
Speech recognition technology is something that has been dreamed of and worked on for many decades.
From the beep-bopping of R2-D2 in Star Wars to Samantha's dissatisfied but charming voice, science fiction writers have played a big role in shaping expectations and predictions about how speech recognition will be in our world...
However, for all advances in modern technology, voice control is a very sophisticated relationship.
It is felt to be historically helplessly clear and nothing but a novelty to simplify our lives. That is until we start to get more into the field of big data, intensive learning, machine learning, and AI technology. Similarly, text to speech is a technology similar to voice recognition that converts digital text into voice. Text to speech technology makes computer to read text aloud from the text document. There are many best free text to speech software that you can use to let your device read for you without looking at the text.
Voice Recognition: A Brief History
As with any technology, what we know today comes from nowhere, someone and someone else.
The first recorded attempt at speech recognition technology was in 1,000 AD. However, the tool that can answer direct questions “yes” or “no” comes back through development.
Although the experiment does not technically involve voice processing in any form, the idea behind it must be part of the foundation of speech recognition technology: the use of natural language as an input to speed up the action.
Centuries later, Bell Laboratories worked to develop "Audrey", which could detect vowel-speaking numbers 1-9.
Later, IBM developed a device that could detect and distinguish 16 spoken words.
These successes have greatly enhanced the dominance of technology companies focusing on speech-related technologies. The Department of Defense also wanted to join the action. Researchers are working steadily toward the goal of making machines more capable of comprehending and responding to our verbal commands.
The history of speech recognition technology is long and winding. However, today’s speech systems such as Google Voice, Amazon Alexa, Microsoft Cortana, and Apple’s Siri are not where they are today, there are no early pioneers.
Thanks to the integration of new technologies such as cloud-based processing and ongoing data collection projects, these speech systems have improved the ability to constantly hear and understand a wide variety of words, languages , and voices.
At this rate, the predictions of future writers are not as far-fetched as we might think.
The Voice Recognition Process: How Does It Work?
Around smartphones, smart cars, smart home appliances, voice assistants, and more, it's easy to know how speech recognition technology works.
Why?
Because it is easy to be misled by digital assistants. Speech recognition is still very complicated.
Think about how a child learns a language.
From day one, they hear the words used around them. Parents talk to their child, and even if the child does not respond, they perceive all kinds of sound signals; Noise, reflection, and pronunciation; Their brain designs and makes connections based on how their parents use their language.
Although it may seem difficult for humans to hear and understand, we train all our lives to develop this so-called natural ability.
Speech recognition technology essentially works the same way. Although humans have improved our process, we have yet to identify the best practices for computers. We must train them in the same way that our parents and teachers trained us. In addition, this type of training requires vision, research, and manpower.
These speech recognition systems take longer and more field data to complete; Thousands of languages, voices, and dialects need to be considered.
To say that we have not made progress; As of May 2017, Google's machine learning algorithm has now achieved a 95% word accuracy rate for the English language. This current rate is a limit to human accuracy, take care of yourself.
What is the best voice assistant?
So far, we have all heard and/or used speech recognition systems; They entered the technological ecosystem to become a means of communication between humans and technology.
Voice input is a more efficient form of computing, as Mary Meeker said in her annual Internet Trends report: Humans can speak an average of 150 words per minute, but can only type 40. Farewell texting and push buttons - we're so busy now bus.
What has become the dominant form of computing is that speech recognition is unbelievable. In addition to regional accents and speech impediments, background noise can make word recognition difficult. Not to mention multiple-voice input.
In other words, recognizing sounds alone is not enough.
These speech recognition systems must be able to distinguish between homophones (words that sound the same but mean something different), to distinguish proper names from separate words ("Tim Cook" is an individual, not merely a search request for a cook called Tim), and more.
Ultimately, speech recognition accuracy determines whether or not they become voice assistants. It certainly answers the question of which voice assistants are the best on the market right now; In terms of speech accuracy, innovation and usability, and compatibility with other smart systems.
Apple’s Siri
Apple's Siri was the first voice assistant launched by mainstream tech companies in 2011.
Since then, it has been integrated into all iPhones, iPods, Apple Watch, Homepod, Mac computers, and Apple TVs.
Through your phone, Siri is being used as a major user interface for automobiles and wireless AirPods earbuds in Apple's Carplay infotainment system.
With the release of Sirikit, a development tool that allows third-party companies to integrate with Siri and HomePod, Apple's initiative Intelligent Speaker (after the success of Amazon Echo and Google Home), voice assistant capabilities Become strong.
There is always Siri with you, whether on the road, at home or even literally on your body. This gives Apple a big advantage in terms of adoption.
Although Apple has a big head when it comes to Siri, many users are frustrated by the inability of the device to understand and execute voice commands.
Naturally, being as quick as possible means getting too many errors for a function that does not work as well as the function.
But, to this day Siri is notorious for misinterpreting voice orders, even by providing a list of nearby liquor stores to respond to requests for help with alcohol poisoning.
If you ask Siri to send you a text message or call on your behalf, it can be done easily. However, when it comes to communicating with third-party apps, Siri is slightly less powerful than its rivals, working with only six types of apps: ride-hailing and sharing; Message and call; Photo search; Payment; Fitness; And auto infotainment system.
Why?
Because Apple advises that "users should not use voice commands without human experience, and what can be done to ensure that Siri works well". Is ", Reuters reports.
Siri will open any ride service app on your iPhone and you can book on the go. Gives you options like traveling to the airport and ordering a car.
Focusing on the system capability of follow-up questions, language translation, and re-incorporation of Siri's voice into a more human-Esque will definitely help to iron out the voice assistant's user experience.
In addition, Apple controls its rivals by country in terms of availability and thus makes sense of the slang of a foreign accent. Siri is available in more than 30 countries and over 20 languages - and, in some cases, many different dialects.
By comparison, Google Home is only available in seven countries and can only speak four languages 'simply' (English, German, French and Japanese), although it does support multiple versions of some languages. Alexa, on the other hand, can only handle English (U.S. and U.K.) and German.
Amazon Alexa
Inside Amazon's smash-hit Amazon Echo smart speakers, as well as the newly released Echo Show (voice-controlled tablet) and Echo Spot (voice-controlled alarm clock), Alexa is one of the most popular voice assistants today.
While Apple focuses on areas where it has the capacity and expertise to meet its needs, Amazon does not impose such restrictions on Alexa.
Instead, a voice assistant with a lot of "skills" (the term for applications on your Echo Assist devices) will "get the reliable following, even if they make occasional mistakes and are easy to use." Will try harder ".
Although some users have set Alexa's word recognition rate as a shadow behind other voice platforms, the good news is that Alexa will adapt to your voice over time with those with your unique voice or dialect. The problem can also be solved.
In terms of skills, Amazon's Alexa Skill Kit (ASK) probably pushed Alexa into a bonafide platform. ASK allows third-party developers to create applications and tap into Alexa's power without local support.
With over 30,000 skills and growing, Alexa has integrated Siri, Google Voice, and Cortana in terms of third-party integration. With the incentive to "add voice to your big ideas and more customers" (not to mention the ability to build for free in the cloud, "no coding knowledge required"), it's no surprise that developers are putting content on the skills platform. To
While some may not be able to help draw parallels with Apple's Appstore, it's catching the attention of developers trying to keep content - any content - on their platform regardless of whether it's worthwhile or not.
Its integration with smart home devices such as cameras, door locks, entertainment systems, lighting, and thermostats is another big selling point for Alexa.
Lastly, give users complete control over their home whether they are in bed or on the move. With Amazon's Smart Home Skill API (another third-party developer tool similar to ASK), you'll be able to control devices connected to customers from millions of Alexa-enabled endpoints.
When you ask Siri to add something to your shopping list, she adds it to your shopping list - without actually buying for you. Alexa goes one step further though.
If you ask Alexa to re-order her debris bags, she will go through Amazon and order them. You can order millions of Amazon products without lifting a finger; Natural and unique ability to surpass Alexa's rivals.
Microsoft’s Cortana
Based on the artificially intelligent role of the 26th century in the Halo video game series, Cortana launched in 2014 as part of Windows Phone 8.1, the next major update to Microsoft's mobile operating system.
At the end of 2017, Microsoft announced that its speech recognition system had reached an error rate of 5.1%. It surpassed the 5.9% error rate reached by a team of researchers from Microsoft Artificial Intelligence and Research in October 2016 and keeps its accuracy on par with professional human transcription, with benefits such as the ability to hear text multiple times.
In this race, every inch is important; When Microsoft announced its 5.9% accuracy rate at the end of 2016, they were ahead of Google. However, the fastest-moving year surpasses Google - but only 0.2%.
While percentages and accuracy rates are important, Cortana distinguishes itself from other voice assistants based on real, human-assisted assistants.
Rival services dig into data from devices, your search history, cookie trails you left on the Internet. While this is often useful, it can also be annoying in the form of non-stop notifications or it can scare the smart system into knowing too much about you.
We all saw 2001: the mother of all sensitive computers, the HAL 9000, was murdered with her pale red-eye and soft-butter robot voice.
To prevent this, Microsoft spoke with several high-level personal assistants, all of whom found that they had notebooks with important information about the person they were looking at. It was this simple idea that prompted Microsoft to create a virtual "notebook" for Cortana that would store personal information and anything Cortana approved for viewing and use.
It's not a privacy control panel, but it's exactly what Cortana does and gives you a little more control over what's not accessible.
For example, if you are not comfortable with Cortana accessing your email, you can add or remove access to your notebook. Another special feature? Cortana always asks you if she stores any information in her notebook.
Microsoft has teamed up with Halo developers on visual themes as well as voice actress Jane Taylor for Cortana's voice. These elements bring Cortana to life and form the personality and emotion to a system that would not have happened without that cooperation. Cortana’s personality shines through in everyday use - along with funny reactions from her circuit boards.
In addition to Google Assistant and Google Search, Cortana is supported by Microsoft's Bing search engine. This allows Cortana to chew up the data needed to answer your burning questions.
And, like Amazon, Microsoft has come up with its own home smart speaker, the Invoque, which performs many of the functions of its rival devices. As soon as Microsoft hits the market there is another big advantage - Cortana is available on all Windows computers and mobiles running Windows 10.
Google Assistant
One of the most common responses to a question these days is "LMGTFY". In other words, "Google me".
This only makes sense when Google Assistant talks about answering (and understanding) any questions.
From asking to translate a phrase into another language, to change the number of butter columns to one cup, Google Assistant not only provides the correct answer but also provides some additional context and source information for the website This suggests that Google's powerful search technology supports it, perhaps with a surprising exception.
Although Amazon's Alexa was released two years ago (via the Echo introduction) than Google Home, Google has made significant progress in capturing Alexa in a very short period of time. Google Home was released in late 2016, and within a year, it had already established itself as Alexa's most meaningful rival.
By the end of 2017, Google had stated a 95% word accuracy rate for American English; Currently the highest of all voice-assistants. It turns out to have a word error rate of 4.9% - Google is the first in the group to fall below the 5% limit.
While some have tried to strike back at Amazon, Google has released several similar products for Amazon. For example, Google Home is reminiscent of Amazon's Echo and Amazon Echo Dot's Google Home Mini.
Recently, Google announced some new, important partnerships with Lenovo, LG, and Sony to launch a series of assistant-powered "smart displays" that will once again resemble Amazon's Echo Show.
Nuance’s Dragon Assistant and Dragon Naturally Speaking.
Although Nance did not come with a smart home speaker, their Dragon Assistant, and Dragon natural speech systems have been used as the backbone of speech recognition for other technology companies. "I need to be able to talk without touching my phone," said Vlad Sejonha, chief technology officer at Nance Communications. "It's constantly listening for trigger words and pop up the calendar or create a text message or browser where you want to navigate".
Nance's voice-recognition technology is largely centered around speech systems in the car; Embedded dictation capability and bringing interactive information to the car.
“Another development involves a deeper level of understanding,” says Nance’s lead solution architect John West.
West argues, "Here, the goal is not just to identify speech, but to gather meaning and purpose that enables voice-driven systems to respond intelligently, in a way that meets the needs of the user."
What is the best voice assistant?
Here's what we know
With over 400 million devices using Google Assistant, including Google Home speakers and Android phones, the company's voice assistant is now installed on more than 400 million computers and devices.
Similarly, Microsoft has officially stated that Windows 10 has 400 million active users; Exclude mobiles running a single system.
Since Amazon’s Alexa is only available on their Echo speakers, this number will definitely reduce the number of dwarves competing against Alexa.
On the other hand, with over 300 million iPhones worldwide by mid-2001, Siri took advantage of this space - not to mention the number of people who owned an Apple Watch, MacBook, or iPad.
With the support of millions of pre-existing users for the tech giants mentioned above, a simple software update is needed to integrate their post-voice assistants worldwide.
For example, people with Google's Pixel phones will be part of the Google Ecosystem. They are more likely to invest in Google Home Speaker, so they can get entangled with YouTube, Google Search, Google Maps, and more. Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft users are the same, without the least repetition of what ecosystem and what products they spend on.
It may depend on the use case.
After all, there is no one-size-fits-all winner when it comes to voice assistants.
If you like the Apple-consumer, Siri and its wide distribution across all Apple products will help you.
If you want to make your home a smart home, Alexa already has thousands of software and hardware integrations ready.
If you've been looking for a helper who can answer all your weird and amazing questions, Google Assistant's search engine will find the rest. If you want a little more control over what information your digital assistant has access to, Microsoft's Cortana has that functionality.
Collaboration that sets the bar high
The recently announced partnership between Microsoft and Amazon on August 30, 2017, is the real deal-breaker here.
This is correct. Alexa and Cortana are officially working together. Since both companies do not have popular smartphones (unlike Google and Apple), they have changed their assistants to suit their strengths.
Users can say "Alexa, Open Cortana" on their Echo devices and "Open Cortana, Alexa" on their Windows 10 devices.
Alexa customers will be able to remember Cortana's special features, such as booking meetings or accessing work calendars, picking flowers, or read your work email on your way home.
Similarly, Cortana customers can ask Alexa to control their smart home devices, shop on Amazon.com, and communicate with more than 30,000 skills built by third-party developers.
Therefore, in terms of voice-activation and digital assistants leading this new industry, Amazon definitely takes the cake.
The company not only supports the creation of other voice-activated technologies through their ASK and Smart Home APIs, but they are also the original inventors to create a smart home speaker with a smart home speaker and screen.
In other words, they are moving faster (and moving forward) than their rivals, all of which are new by continuing to share.
Speech Recognition in-Car
Voice-activated devices and digital voice assistants not only make things easier.
It’s also about safety - at least when it comes to speech recognition in the car.
Companies like Apple, Google, and Nance are completely changing the driver experience in their vehicles; Allows drivers to focus on the road with the intention of eliminating the distraction of looking down on their mobile phones while they drive.
Instead of texting while driving, you can now tell who to call your car to or which restaurant to navigate.
Instead of scrolling through Apple Music to find your favorite playlist, you can ask Siri to find and play it for you.
If your car is running low on fuel, your speech system will not only let you know if your car needs refueling but also point to the nearest fuel station and ask if you have any specific brands. Priority to this
Or you can be warned that the petrol station of your choice is too far to reach with the rest of the fuel.
As advantageous as it may seem in the ideal scenario, speech technology in a car is dangerous if applied before high-speed accuracy. The study found that voice-activated technology in cars actually causes a higher level of cognitive distraction. This is because it is as new as technology; Engineers are still working on software kinks.
But, as rate speech recognition technology and artificial intelligence are improving, we can’t stay behind the wheel in a few years.
Speech Recognition Apps and Devices
Voice assistants are making a big difference in our personal lives, according to a recent study by Voice Labs that 30% of respondents cite smart home devices as the main reason for investing in Amazon Echo or Google Home.
This next generation of 'communication' technology provides users with a way to use the clumsy remote control interface.
Therefore, it allows consumers to talk and communicate with their electronics as they further increase the ease of human use and reduce the barrier to access to technology products.
Engineers must work hard to create an abundance of voice-controlled devices that can integrate with the voice technology of leading digital assistants; From appliances and safety devices to thermostats and alarm systems.
Nest, for example, is a company that invests capital in the new voice-technology frontier. “Your smart home should not be dumb,” the company said.
With the Nest Thermostat, you can use the Amazon Echo to control the temperature in your home with simple voice commands. Or, pre-order the Nest Hello Video Doorbell and get the Google Home Mini at no cost when shipping. From alarm systems to smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, Nest Protect thinks, speaks, and warns your device.
Bringing these voice assistants to the office in future applications of speech recognition, beyond the home.
In late 2017, Amazon announced new voice-activated tools for the office, hoping that verbal commands such as "Alexa, Print My Spreadsheet" would extend to normal office tasks. Microsoft's Cortana has begun to handle some other office tasks, such as scheduling meetings, recording meeting minutes, and arranging travel.
Today, only a handful of high-ranking officials have their own personal assistants. With the introduction of AI digital assistants in the workplace, everyone can be one.
To access the company's financial data from last week to last year, please ask your Google Assistant to create a graph showing the year's increase in click-through rates - there are many uses for implementing Digital-Assistant in the workplace.
Think about it - just like electronic computers, voice can go manually through the files on your computer so that paper records can be easily changed shortly before.
Video Games with Voice Control
In these use cases, speech recognition techniques have been implemented with the aim of simplifying our lives, which is also evolving in other areas. Namely, in the gaming industry.
Creating video games is already exceptionally difficult.
Plots, gameplay, character development, customizable gear, lottery systems, worlds, etc. can take years to display properly. Not only that, the game can change and adapt based on the actions of each player.
Now, imagine adding another level to gaming with Speech Recognition technology.
Many companies that create this idea do so with the intention of making gaming more accessible to those who are visually and/or physically challenged, as well as immersing players further in the gameplay by launching another layer of integration.
Voice control can reduce the learning curve for beginners, with less emphasis on recognizing controls; The player can start talking immediately.
In other words: it can now be very challenging for game developers to collect hundreds (if not thousands) of voice data, speech technology integration, testing, and coding to keep their international audience.
However, despite all the goals that tech companies are shooting and overcoming challenges, there are already video games that believe the benefits outweigh the barriers.
Even mobile games and apps are now capable of using voice-activation in addition to the classic console and PC versions. Seaman, starring Leonard Nimoy as a sarcastic man-fish, debuted in the late 1990s, and Mass Effect 3, released in 2012, is just the latest example of speech technology in video games.
What is our history, where are we going?
Speech recognition has made major advances in the last decade; it's been 1,000 years in the voice technology market. Magic eight ball to today.
The intense level of competition we see among these tech giants in the industry and the growing trend of companies creating materials in space indicates that we still have a long way to go.

25. Wappalyzer – This browser plugin also sits in the top right and gives a dropdown to show any tech on a particular website that is being used by the site. 32. Broken Link Checker – Helps you stay on top of broken links on your site.
33. Search & Filter Pro – A bit more for programmers, or front end developers that want to search and sort things on the front end of the website without coding it all by hand.
34. SEO Autolinker – Kind of an old school plugin, but one that I love. Allows you to get a lot more internal links to your main pages by setting up an autolinker for each term separated by a comma that you want to link to that page. Internal links are huge for ‘crawlability’ – a very helpful thing in search engine optimization, and internal links are very underrated.
35. Advanced Custom Fields Pro – Also a front-end developers friend, this tool allows you to very easily create ‘fields’ that make it easy for clients to add content to their site without having to sort through code.
36. Super Socializer – This tool allows you to add share buttons anywhere and everywhere on your site, as well as social logins and other social tools.
37. WordPress Fastest Cache – Make your site faster with the click of a few buttons. Best caching plugin I’ve found, and yes you should be caching your WordPress site. For SEO and for the experience of your visitors.

39. Duplicate Post – Give yourself or your clients an option to duplicate any kind of post on the backend of WordPress. Invaluable.
40. Yoast SEO – The best for last, an awesome SEO plugin that helps you add meta titles and descriptions and de-index certain kinds of content if you want. Warning: this alone will not make your entire website ‘Search Engine Optimized’ so don’t be silly about what any one tool is capable of.
If you want someone is crazy passionate about helping businesses succeed online, send me a message, and I’d love to help your business kill it. Thanks for reading – this has been 40 of the Best Digital Marketing Tools for 2017.

This is a story about farming. It is quite long. I think it may be worth reading anyway, but unfortunately I have no way to prove it. I’ve also tried my best but I still don’t know if it actually makes perfect sense in every way? But it did all actually happen; so it all kind of has to make at least a little bit of sense, even if doesn’t really seem like it.
The trouble all started in 1901, when my great great grandfather emigrated to the United States from the modern-day Czech Republic and later, in 1911, bought a 90-acre farm there. Many years later, most of that farm came to belong to my grandfather, and roughly 10 years back he retired from his job selling tires at the tire store and started making the 40 mile drive north to the farm to spend his summer days there and plant a garden (in the area that wasn’t already rented out to be planted with soybeans.) Not long after that, he had enough produce to start selling stuff at a nearby farmers’ market in an upscale town, physically not far from the farm, although psychogeographically immensely distant from that chunk of desolate, isolated, fairly representative rural Ohio.
I was dragged in in the summer of 2015, from the end of June to the beginning of July, mostly pounding stakes into the ground so that the roughly 1000-1500 tomato plants that my grandfather had planted that year (with occasional help from my grandmother and uncle) could be tied up between them and the fruit wouldn’t lay on the ground and rot easily. I hated it there (in fairness, I probably would’ve hated anything that involved leaving the house during that time in my life) and when my dad got me out of it (by hiring me to help him paint a house) I quickly divested myself of the money I’d received there to wash my hands of the place and resolved never to go back. My dad was never in favor of me going to the farm, knowing as he did that the work could be dangerous (operating old, large, and unreliable tractors and backhoe with minimal training or safety precautions; running large, dangerous power saws in creative ways without the proper guards, gear, or safety precautions, mostly to put points on stakes; operating saws in an unsafe manner while standing in the raised bucket of the old and unreliable backhoe in order to trim trees; etc) and probably also suspected that I personally (especially then) was fairly vulnerable to being psychologically manipulated into performing difficult tasks that I was unhappy doing over a long period of time while being underpaid under some circumstances. Hmm.
I returned to the farm for the entirety of the summer of 2016. After barely surviving/graduating my senior year of high school that year I had given up on life and settled pretty quickly back into the routine of the daily back-and-forth farm trips. It is true that I was getting paid; it was also true that I was being challenged and learning things, mostly the basics of planting vegetables, like which plants were cold-season crops and which were warm-season and how far apart to space the transplants, and how a PTO works on a tractor; and it’s certainly a fact that on a personal level, I was still completely taken in by my grandfather’s wit and farm wisdom and overpowering managerial confidence. I made myself completely subordinate to him, and blamed myself when his ideas for what we should be doing next were completely obvious to him but rather opaque to me; I remember it frequently happening that he would tell me what to do and I would reflexively go off to do it, and then realize I was unclear on what he meant and have to timidly re-approach him for further instructions. This kind of slowed down the learning process. Much later I would also realize how superficial his constant confidence could be, and how it was often less the natural attitude of someone who knew what they were doing and more a tool he used to impress people into doing things without thinking too much about any of the potential alternatives. Also, according to my admittedly fallible memories, I was getting paid $35 per day for what were generally between 7 and 8 hour days. I was, in fact, 18 years old that year and probably could have gotten a different job that for one thing paid a better hourly wage and for another left me less reliant on the caprices of my family; but this was neither a thing that happened nor a thing that was expected from me, least of all by me. My internal world hadn’t expanded as I’d grown older; my universe of possibilities was limited to the things that were already present in my somewhat simple life. This was probably symptomatic of some larger problem or problems with the functionality of my brain at that point in my life.
One can become trapped in many different ways. You can be trapped in a specific city, or a zip code, or in a geographic region sorely lacking in cities, or one which they are considered entirely strange and outlandish things; in a job, in a career, in a lifestyle, or in a set of lifestyles considered realistic given your high school grades, ability to connect with others, and standing in society and life; in a friend group, or in an identity, or in a lack thereof, or in any number of the various rules and regulations that govern how one is allowed to interact with the rest of the human race; in a comedy, a tragedy, a pastoral narrative, or in any combination of the above kinds of story that one no longer wishes to be part of. For all I know, thanks to the stereotypical farm benefits of character building, meaningful work experiencing, and nature connecting-with, working at the farm for that year may have actually been good for me; nevertheless, I wish that it had been my last full summer there. I had showed up, learned some stuff, earned a small amount of money, and, in retrospect experienced at least the majority of what this particular 90 acre area of the planet had had to offer. Alas.
2017! This year, we had a pretty consistent schedule that I can remember clearly to this day: we left at 9:30 AM, when my grandfather would pull into my driveway and blow his horn, and got back between 7 and 8 o’clock at night. Built into that schedule is a one hour commute each way (we both lived about 40 miles away from the farm, which was actually inhabited by my uncle, who was often around and occasionally helped with the work but frequently made fairly abrasive and critical comments (if often correct) comments about it (for example, about the fact that our work day started so late in the morning)) and a daily grocery store stop for drinks for the cooler. I was the driver (once my grandfather’s problems with what I suspect is undiagnosed narcolepsy had almost killed us a couple of times) which you would think give me control over the stereo, but I quickly learned that my grandfather had pretty specific taste in music (country from the 50s and 60s) and a temperament unsuited to most podcasts. Obviously, most of that time in the daily schedule was taken up by the work day (so generally either planting tomatoes (which gets a little less rewarding after about the 500th one, which that year only put us at about a quarter of the way through the tomato plants, not counting the hundreds of eggplant, cabbage, and zucchini plants or the miscellaneous corn, squash, and beans), pounding stakes and tying string for the tomatoes, or harvesting tomatoes) which lay at the end of the lonely highway on a lonely work site at which the same 2-4 people showed up every day. (It became four people once you counted my younger brother, who came up to the farm that year until the start of marching band season got him out of it, and who fortunately made it his main job to get everyone to pack up and leave promptly at the end of the day. Once he stopped showing up, and even though I persuaded my grandfather to move the schedule up an hour so that we could get home earlier, we never left as consistently as we did when he was there; I didn’t have the stamina to find my grandfather (who didn’t carry a phone or a watch) and tell him what time it was at the end of the day every single day so that he could start to think about leaving.) I was being paid $40 a day, with a $20 bonus for market days once they started, which with our theoretically 35-hour work week ends up being about $6.29 an hour? Huh. In addition to the extra $20, the market season was nice because picking stuff is less tiring and more rewarding than planting stuff, and because I got to see way more people every day in the form of our market customers, even if I was interacting with them mainly through the intermediary of my grandfather.
Another nice thing is that this is the first year I have a decent photo album for! I started experimenting with old 35mm film cameras in late June and by early July I had my first interchangeable-lens digital camera, which I relied upon to keep my brain alive for large parts of the summer. I have… a lot of pictures from this season.
Finally, at the end of the year, I ended up in college. Any criticisms of my grandfather that I might offer up here have to be tempered by the fact that he did in fact drive me to the local (relatively) cheap higher-education dispenser and basically registered me for me (technically, I applied but there’s a 100% acceptance rate.) This was something I desperately wanted to do but was unable to make happen by myself. I won’t say that my grandfather every really understood the problems I went through while experiencing formal education, but as perhaps the member of my family least comfortable himself with the concept and culture of higher education, he was the most willing to notice and accept that I needed help getting started with it.
However, I did do quite badly that semester (I started out enrolled in 4.5 classes and ended enrolled in 2, with a C average) and going to the farm to work 4 days a week still (after morning classes and also on Saturday) did not help that except in that it provided a convenient distraction from it; an opportunity for me to distract myself from my frustrations by wearing myself out.
Why did I come back to the farm for 2018? I wasn’t happy there in 2017, I have the journal entries to prove it. Reasons: it was the path of least resistance, it was something I was more already familiar with than any other job, and my grandfather remained a very difficult person for me to say no to. (Also, he asked me (and my brother) to commit in midwinter, when it still seemed non-threatening and pretty far away.) The schedule was pretty much the same as I described for last year except that for some reason we went up 6 days a week as often as 5 (weather permitting.) My brother went up with us for the same period of time as he had previously, but was even more ornery this year than he was the last, which was an accomplishment; this didn’t stop me from being grateful for his presence. Mostly, I recruited him to work on whatever I was working on during the day, whenever I had a specific project: like building a fence around the second patch, or digging drainage ditches on the lawn, or moving the rainwater collection tank trailer to water stuff before Grandpa could realize that something that he didn’t plan for us was happening. My uncle became extremely fond of complaining that we were getting less done working on the same thing together than we might have working on different things far apart; this may have been true, but I was unwilling to test the theory.
As I implied above, I had a lot more freedom this year to pick projects that I thought needed to be done instead of following instructions all day, as long as I could seem confident about it under scrutiny later. I responded in two ways: I started wearing earbuds and listened to music and occasionally podcasts for most of the day, which was great except that it ruined earbuds and made me feel slightly spacey like I wasn’t even physically there sometimes, given that it was the main input that was actually making it to my brain, and I gave myself three new jobs. The first was to pick, display, and sell produce at a roadside stand that I set up back home (ideally without attracting too much attention from my uncle, who was doing the same thing); the second was to start picking for and selling at a new weekday farmers’ market; and the third was to fix an old dump truck that had been sitting in the back barn for the better part of the decade with a broken brake line, with the help of my dad, who came up to the farm a few days to show me what to actually do. The stand was very successful but 20% went to my mom for stocking it during the day and another 20% went to my grandfather for owning the farm; the new farmers’ market only required me to pay off my grandfather but had too many vendors for the customer base and was generally very slow; and the truck project was a huge disaster that consumed countless hours and brain cells: one brake line burst after another, we ended up having to remove and replace the two brake cylinders in each of the back wheels (which necessitated jacking the 12.5 ton vehicle up and removing both rear wheels and axles), the wiring for the lights was fucked from a previous botched repair job by a person or persons unknown, the bed needed to be attacked with the farm’s one working boom truck to get it to even move, and even after it was going up and down smoothly the hydraulic pump was occasionally leaking fluid, which I was neither qualified for or willing to try to fix; then, during the first test drive with a potential buyer, the radiator apparently exploded, and he convinced my grandfather to sell it to him for $1000, which was split between him, me, and my dad and uncle for helping (more or less.) I eventually calculated that with those three extra projects in addition to my regular salary (up $5 a day but without the weekly bonus, resulting in a net raise of $5 a week) I nearly made minimum wage working there that summer. (Hey, if Quinn is going to read this, I should probably note that minimum wage in Ohio was $8.15 an hour, at least when I wrote this, it’s up to $8.55 an hour now.)
Also, after going on three years of the whole “pull into Mitch’s driveway and blow the horn for a while” routine, the horn on my grandfather’s F-150 finally gave out and he locked the keys in my car while climbing inside of it to use its. (He did admit to this but also told me that I should never have left the keys inside of a car with “automatic locks.”) I had a much better spring semester this year, but it still wasn’t made easier by my 28 hours a week at the farm (plus the commute) right up until October 25th, when I finally quit.
Performance review:
Another part of my feelings about the farm that I have to mention is that the whole time I was there, I was pretty well aware that it was not nearly as productive as it should have been. One large part of this was just flawed soil management practices; by the time I got there, my grandfather had been planting mostly the same plants in mostly exactly the same spots for nearly 10 years, which is absolutely not how any of that is ever supposed to work. He sent soil samples away for analysis, got back reports prescribing long lists of fertilizers to be applied in massive quantities to help production, and then went back to using what he was planning on putting down anyway (mostly starting fertilizer (which we dragged around in 5 gallon buckets for the entire planting season), calcium spray to try to prevent previous years’ blossom end rot epidemics, and some poorly labeled sacks of miscellaneous stuff that he had gotten at a farm auction and that had been taking up space in a barn for years.) My grandfather’s managerial attitude was that all ideas were suspect unless they occurred to him first, which meant it sometimes required some stamina to get certain things done; he would ride up on the lawn mower and stare at you suspiciously if he wasn’t sure of exactly what you were doing.
Like this.
(Of course, the farm was not really run with the purpose of maximizing production, anyway. My grandfather kept it going year after year initially because he was retired, and wanted something to take up his time, and because he wanted to turn himself into a farmer; later, he got the idea that he was going to turn me into one.)
The other main obstacle to growth was the fact that we were surrounded by 80 acres of soybean fields that were at a slightly higher elevation than our plants, which meant that 2 inches of rainfall was more than enough to flood the place. This is not actually a good thing for any plant’s growth (except for cucumbers, and I guess sometimes zucchini.) I ended up (with my brother) digging hundreds of feet of drainage ditches in 2018 to try to combat this. Like, with a shovel. We had a trencher, but its hydraulic pump leaked fluid like a sieve, which had prevented it from being used for years, kind of like that dump truck I mentioned fixing earlier. Other broken down equipment included two boom trucks (one of which was specifically designed just to lay railroad ties), two full-size tractors (an Oliver and a Farm-All), a handful of mechanical tractor attachments that lay scattered throughout the barn-adjacent grass, a smallish red Troy-Bilt riding lawn mower, and a 1963 Buick Riviera.
On a personal level, going to the farm every day felt like dying? It was long hours of difficult, tedious, low-paid work in a desolate and isolated location. It was sort of like a sensory deprivation chamber, but for thoughts and feelings instead of for senses. On one hand, I regret every single miserable second of it, and hope to never see the place again for as long as I somehow manage to live (sadly unlikely); on the other hand, I do think it made me more appreciative of the moments when I do feel like I’m alive in the world, even when they’re not exactly easy ones. I have more enthusiasm for certain types of fear now, like driving to a strange and distant city to see a band play by myself, actually talking to the host in the AirBNB there, and descending into a strange subway system without really knowing how I’m going to get anywhere I’m trying to go from there; or signing up for classes for next semester without knowing exactly what they’ll be like, and talking to the strange person sitting next to me, or even just emailing the professor to ask for an explanation of an assignment that I don’t understand. It reminds me that I’m not as trapped anymore.
This contradicts what I want to be true, which is that the farm was just a background event in my life, instead of something that defined it for all of those years. The things that I was doing in the background of this, the story about farming, were the things I now realize were actually important to me at the time: taking those pictures, going back to school, the music I was listening to while I was out in the field, pounding in tomato stakes… I was also re-learning the piano in the evenings when I still had the energy. Unfortunately, the farm did define that part of my life to a large extent because of the way it served as an obstacle to me pursuing those things. The thing is, I wasn’t really trapped there, in any real physical or consequential sense; the farm took over my life because I was unable to recognize and act on the fact that I did have access to real sources of happiness.
Also, I guess the whole time I was technically committing tax evasion?
Anyway, whenever I see one of those posts about how nice it would be just to leave society and go live on a farm or something, this is what I’m thinking of.
#yes. long. maybe save this for when you already know that you're going to be bored#if anyone actually makes it to the end please interact

5 Traits To Chuck When Switching 40
Editors take note: Thank you to Skagen for offering this Jorn Smartwatch for evaluation. To entice our company this, the show is actually providing our company season after time from the murderous, self-seeking, mad acts from people against other humans in a nationality to remain on the Iron Power. We purchase books that tell us over and over once more what our company actually know and also feel. Quite periodically, totally free activities appear that are actually so generous you wonder just what the catch is actually. http://vosmetamorphoses.info is actually somewhat Metroid, other than the hero of the hr is a little bit of gal which possesses pigtails, silly moms and dads that always keep receiving abducted, and a surprisingly large toolbox from deadly tools. One such popular racing game for instance, F-Zero X could possibly perform at 60 frameworks a second with concerning 30 automobiles on the screen at any offered opportunity. Decide on whether you would like to belong to the Hero or Villain faction then individualize your personality and you'll be actually delivered in to the planet of DC Cosmos Online by Sunrise Game Business. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson that stars in Activity of Thrones as Gregor Clegane, aka The Hill, also known as Ser Robert Powerful, has said to Digital Spy that he knows just how determined fans are actually to view a face-off in between his character and brother Sandor (participated in through Rory McCann). With various other profit of $31.8 thousand, the firm recorded a pre-tax reduction of $48.2 thousand. I think it is necessary to have a suggestion from how much time each play from the video game should take, and also how difficult that should be. This should acquire more difficult, but concurrently it is actually also come to be actually fair - the gamers have to believe that that's their fault that the game was lost. The video game is actually everything about taking care of a metro and making, making use of a user interface comparable to a very little take on the schematics generally discovered hanging on subway wall structures. Farming Simulation 17 performs certainly not have actually any called characters to speak of in the. activity. While the news of season seven's opened date will certainly thrill followers, that doesn't remove the facts that the await a brand-new time will be longer than usual and also the amount of episodes will be fewer in comparison to in other seasons As a result of the fabled winter months ultimately getting here in Westeros for upcoming season, the show delayed manufacturing to wait on the suitable winter for shooting.
The lowest you have to perform to finish this quest is to build 2 storehouses and 3 meals creation buildings. F-Zero X most likely could have been usable at 30 structures a second, but it definitely would not have looked as good. If you do not prefer to play online along with others, the good news is the activity likewise supplies an AI setting. Maturing is a sophisticated procedure from enhancing coming from being specific that one's psychological globe goes to the center from the universe to producing a network from relationships; from being actually unrestrainedly mentally sensitive to being efficient in essential thought and feelings and practical engagement; from being actually an individual which needs to have continual care to being encouraged to operate worldwide properly, as well as maintain not only oneself, but others. He is actually certainly not likely to obtain cyber bullied, certainly not as long as a women author/blogger might, and also he undoubtedly will not be discriminated over his race, ethnicity or even sexuality. Peak in particular delivers a complete Forza Motorsport activity to COMPUTER gamers for the first time. You start the activity along with tricks to the museum, but they are actually certainly not actually significant. PES 2017 is actually a good-looking sufficient video game on the pitch, and a number of its gamer skins are actually much better than FIFA's, but in other places this just can not complete. I haven't experienced as compassionate about a mini activity considering that Triple Set of three off Ultimate Imagination VIII (I acquired all the memory cards). Attempt parting your hair on the opposite edge to hide the shaved edge that's expanding out.
And right now they're back in the Final Four in , Arizona, where they'll respond to inquiries concerning the magic shot in Memphis - not simply the one that finished their time a year ago in Houston. The only way to prevent this difficulty is to generate your personal market; focus on begin - ups who can not pay for the high end costs charge by big consulting agencies. I was actually 5 months into expanding yet I did a horrendous point today (SLIT hair) I do not mind the best or even edges when they're lengthy but the back types in to a mullet. It won't happen overnight, obviously, yet only a full week of consuming a healthy quantity of water can possess good results on your skin. Instead of wasting your time watching mindless videos on Facebook, you can use your smart phone to get in shape. Your phone can be used to form healthy habits, create a caloric deficit, maintain motivation, increase the intensity of your workouts, log your workouts, track your progress, and more. Don’t believe me? Read on.
Form New Healthy Habits that Lead to Fat Loss
Your smart phone can be used to set-up reminders and track your success at completing the three daily habits that will transform your body:
1) weighing yourself each morning
Each morning, after using the restroom, step on the scale and weigh yourself.
Bodyweight can fluctuate significantly from day to day. Use weekly averages to find a truer trend in bodyweight from week to week. Bluetooth scales that sync with the MyFitnessPal app make this easy.
2) exercising, and
3) logging your food intake
Apps like Strides (information video), Streaks, Fabulous, and Toodledo help you develop and track new habits. The Strides app allows you to create instant habits by programing action triggers. You can program multiple reminders for each task and the app tracks your consistency. I recommend setting your food log reminder for the end of the day, so you can complete your log and mark the task as complete. Recording these activities will cause you to modify your behavior by making you more consistent. What gets measured, gets managed!
Creating a Caloric Deficit
The MyFitnessPal app makes creating a caloric deficit easier than ever. You simply download the app to your smart phone. You sign up using your Facebook account or an email account. It will ask you your goal; lose weight, maintain weight, or gain weight. You will enter your level of activity based on your occupation, not your exercise program. You enter your height, weight, and sex. The app will ask you your target body weight and timeline for achieving it. It will also ask you your weekly weight loss goals; options vary between a ½ pound and 2 pounds a week. I recommend one pound a week. You should never attempt to lose more than 1% of your bodyweight per week.
5 Things You Should Know About Food Tracking:
The more you track, the more likely you are to reach your goals.
Tracking gets easier the more you do it.
It’s always better to track something versus nothing at all.
You can start building the habit of tracking by logging one meal at a time.
If you can’t find an exact match for what you want to track, just pick something similar.
Staying Motivated
Download a few motivational videos so you always have an inspirational pep talk ready to go when you need it most. There are some great YouTube channels that can provide daily inspiration. These are a few of my favorites: Be Inspired, MotivationGrind, Motivation Archives MulliganBrothers, MOTIVATION, and, Absolute Motivation.
Music and Interval Timers to Rev-up your Workouts
Listening to music that pumps you up during your workouts will help increase your workout intensity, focus, and performance. You can get a good pair of wireless headphones for less than $40.
Use an interval timer to add intensity to your cardio sessions. These apps are great for interval training workouts, kettlebell workouts, and heavy bag workouts.
Interval Timer app
Boxing Timer app
Log your workouts and Progress – Share them with Supportive Friends
There are many fitness apps available. Here is a great article by Jill Duffy of PC Magazine, The 25 Best Fitness Apps of 2017.
Use your Phone to Promote Personal Growth
Many public libraries allow you to download free audiobooks using the OverDrive app. The files expire after a specified amount of time has passed, typically 2-weeks. With digital files you’ll never pay a late fee, but the file may expire before you finish the book. Audible typically has more titles to choose from than your library, and you can take as long as you want to listen to the book because you own it. Audiobooks are a great way to make your cardio sessions more enjoyable and they promote personal growth.
Audiobooks provide the same benefits as reading, improved: vocabulary, writing, reading comprehension, emotional intelligence, and grammar. If you are interested in finding out more about the benefits of audiobooks, I suggest you read the article As Far As Your Brain Is Concerned, Audiobooks Are Not ‘Cheating’ by Melissa Dahl.

Artist Project Grant (Small) Stories
Twice a year, the Edmonton Arts Council provides grants of up to $5000 to artists through the small Artist Project Grant (we also have one large Artist Project Grant deadline). Artist Project Grants are intended to invest in the specific projects of individual artists and artist collectives as they pursue their artistic and professional advancement.
We talked with some of last year’s grant recipients to find out what they created with their grant.
Nisha Patel; photo by Yulia Skogoreva
Artist: Nisha Patel, spoken word poet Projects: Artist residency at The Nook Café, and a debut full-length collection of poetry Grants: Artist Project (small), 2017 and 2018
When Nisha Patel decided to leave a career in politics to pursue art—specifically, spoken word poetry—she was interested in an artist residency. But as an emerging artist with a business degree, she did not yet have a published book, or the academic background required for most residencies. So, she decided to make her own opportunity. “I approached some places in Edmonton and asked if they would like to host a resident artist, and The Nook agreed to try the idea and offered to host me in their space,” Patel says. Patel then took the time to research what other residencies looked like, used her research to inform her own residency programming and design, and proposed the idea in her grant application for an Artist Project Grant.
“I looked at what other writers in residence made (financially), how many workshops they organized, how many hours they worked. I consulted writers in residents across Canada,” Patel explains. When her grant was approved, she finalized her residency at The Nook from March through May 2018. During her residency, Patel held 60 consultations with writers, hosted Breath in Poetry weekly open mic nights, designed and facilitated weekly writing workshops, and organized a residency showcase at the end of her term.
“That showcase was very meaningful because some of my workshop participants performed their poetry for the first time,” Patel says. “The Breath in Poetry nights in general are very unique because it’s one of the only weekly poetry open mic nights in Canada. It attracts 40 to 70 guests per show and engages many marginalized groups in the community, we see many youth, queer, transgender, homeless, and disabled people attend.”
“I think the residency was very productive and very successful, and I would like to see something like it implemented again.”
With her residency over, Patel is now working on her first full length book of poetry—for which she received a second Artist Project Grant—which will be published in 2019. “I’ve been wanting to write a book for a couple years. Having a full-length publication is incredibly important to me to be a successful artist and be able to apply for more residencies.”
Artist: Emily Chu, illustrator Project: Embroidery project Grant: Artist Project (small), 2017
Emily Chu is well known for her illustrations, so she decided to challenge herself by learning a new art form: embroidery. “The way that I work as an illustrator is mostly digital, so I thought embroidery would be good. Not only would I have to do things in a traditional way, but embroidery has a texture and feel that’s just different enough for my own development,” Chu says. “I wanted to try it out and see if it would help me with my own growth as an artist.”
Chu used the grant to take some time away from accepting freelance illustration work, so she could focus on learning and producing embroidery. “The grant was really helpful, I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the grant because of the nature of the freelance work that I do, I work month to month, so I have to take on as many jobs as possible. It allowed me to have the time to do something I always wanted to do artistically. It’s very rare that I have a month or two to pursue art that isn’t work.”
Chu used her time, about four months collectively, to learn different forms of embroidery and try out different tools. In the end, she was most happy with the work that resembled and was inspired by the familiar drawings in her sketchbook.
“There were a lot of misses and it’s such a slow process, but I did end up finding a way to work with it,” Chu says. “I really enjoy making knots and chain stitch, they are some of the best methods to visually capture the work I do in my sketch book, it’s a little bit looser and a little bit more fun. I also did lots of line work that was able to capture the looseness of pen and ink on fabric, it was familiar but also a challenge to figure out.”
Chu ended up with 20 pieces of embroidered clothing, some of which she hopes to display in a gallery show in 2019 or at markets in the fall and winter. “I’d love to display some of it at markets because it’s something different, it’s something customers can touch and have a more personal experience with.”
To read more about Chu’s project, view photos, or provide feedback, visit www.offlineembroidery.ca. If you’re interested in taking a free embroidery workshop with Chu, sign up for the newsletter on her website.

Artist: Elena Belyea, playwright Project: Production of her script, Cleave Grant: Artist Project (small), 2017
When Elena Belyea received resounding positive feedback for her script Cleave, which she wrote during her time at the National Theatre School of Canada’s playwriting program, she knew she wanted to take it to the stage and deliver it to an audience. “I challenged myself to write my version of a ‘well-made-play,’ following a traditional narrative arc and containing characters that interact only with each other, never breaking the figurative fourth wall to converse with the audience,” Belyea says. Belyea continued to shape the script with feedback and workshopping, and was eventually approached by Murray Utas, the Artistic Director of Fringe Theatre, about presenting the show.
“I self-identify as queer and I love a good identity play, so it goes after both of those things in a big way,” Belyea says. “There are queer characters, a trans protagonist and six characters dealing with identity. It’s a story I care about. [Staging it] was an important opportunity to help connect with other queer artists, and wonderful queer allies, in Edmonton. It felt like I got to meet and matchmake other artists and revitalized my network of queer artists that I can then recommend to other productions/auditions. I was able to assemble a room full of wonderful people and create some meaningful working relationships, support networks and friendships.”
Cleave ran from March 27, 2018 - April 7, 2018, and Belyea says she received positive feedback from people who reached out on social media and email to share their thoughts. One actor in the play told Belyea that this was the show he has received the most feedback on by far; many audience members took the time to go up to him after the show and share their accolades.
The Artist Project Grant was used to support costs for the six performers, most of whom identify with minority groups. “There are so many costs that go into a play and being able to pay the artists appropriately is important,” Belyea says. “This grant really means giving artists jobs, it was nice to be able to pay people more than ever for projects. It’s important to be able to give jobs to people, especially ones from visible minorities that might not get work as often, because we hope they continue to stay in the industry.”
Applications for the next round of Artist Project Grants (small, up to $5000) are open through September 17, 2018. Hard copy applications must be received by 4:30 pm MST at the Edmonton Arts Council office. Click here for more information and to apply.

Top 10 Benefits of Facebook Advertising
Why should you specifically do Facebook advertising when there are many other social media channels or online marketing sites to choose from. According to statistical reports, around 59.08% of globally active web users use Facebook per month, while 34.53% of the total world population access Facebook every month. Plus, the usual time spent by users across the world is at least 7 to 8 hours per day. So, it is evident that a considerable proportion of the world population is on Facebook. And, if you do not have your business page there, then it is time to make one and start gaining clients through Facebook advertising as soon as possible.
In this post, we will give you a clear picture of the benefits of Facebook advertising through the following compilation:
Organic Reach Is Limited
You Can Target Credible Audience
You Can Settle For Simple Or Advanced Ad Solutions
Facebook Ads Can Be Easily Set Up
You Can Do Flexible Budget Adjustments
Retargeting Clients On Facebook
You Can Track Your Campaigns Performance Result
Facebook Ad Is Mobile
Investing In Facebook Ad Is Credit-worthy
Facebook Is Always A-Step-Ahead
Here’s Why You Should Choose Facebook Advertising Over Any Other Social Media Channels
According to Statista, the number of global Facebook users is expected to shoot up to 1.69 billion in 2021 from its 1.34 billion users as last reported in 2014.
From this, you can predict that it is a pretty huge jump in an exponential increase in the efficiency of this social platform in the current era.
Out of 50% of the current global active Facebook users, 40% of the adults are users aging above 65.
These key statistical data are proof that millions of Facebook users access their profiles several times a day.
And, when it comes to promoting any business or brand, the main objective is to find a platform where you can easily find your credible targets through advertising. So, now we will move on to explore why you should do Facebook advertising to meet the said objective.
Why Advertise On Facebook?| Here are 10 Compelling Reasons
We have compiled a reasonable list of reasons to substantiate how Facebook advertising can help your business grow with long-term results.
Let’s delve deeper!
1. Organic Reach Is Limited
Facebook content creators develop varied types of content each day. And, this becomes a challenging and time-consuming task for both the long and short time advertisers to share and take their content to the right target if advertised organically.
However, that does not mean Facebook is the easiest way to advertise your business as the platform’s algorithm is ever-changing.
Then what is the point of advertising on Facebook? Well, it is because through Facebook ads you can keep your credible targets engaged. It gives added support to your marketing efforts to reach newer prospects or businesses you never knew existed. In essence, Facebook ads give you a wider platform to showcase your brand products and services within a click.
2. You Can Target Credible Audience
Another benefit of advertising on Facebook is that you can reach the most intended targets within a short span.
Facebook is the most preferred platform for online advertising because here entrepreneurs can do their business promotions to customers based on their:
Gender
Age
Geographical Location
Job Role
Industry Type
Field of Interest
Marital Status, and more
Use Facebook ads to get connected with more potential customers. This strategy works even better for those marketers who understand their targets by heart.
Lookalike Audiences is one of the many Facebook ad targeting alternatives you should be familiar with. This option is basically a way to reach new customers who are more likely to buy or avail of your brand products or services. These customers are similar to most of your already existing credit-driven audiences.
3. You Can Settle For Simple Or Advanced Ad Solutions
Facebook now empowers business marketers/advertisers more than before. Based on the main objective of your Facebook ad, the platform allows you to select between Simple and Advanced Ad Solutions.
Simple Ad Solutions
Simple Ad Solutions allow you to create quick and easy Facebook ads and advertise directly from your business page.
Why Choose Simple Ad Solutions For Facebook Advertising?
As its name suggests, Simple ads are simpler than the Advanced ad format. Find the Promote option on your page or try to boost an existing post on your page by hitting the Boost Post option on those dedicated posts.
These are some Simple Ad Solutions you will see on your Facebook business page:
Boosted Posts – Doing this will bring more users to your Facebook page to like, share, and comment on your ad posts. Boosting ad posts also lets you connect with non-page followers who, too, might be interested in your business.
Page Ad – This type of ad helps you get more users to like your posts, and hence, follow your page.
Website Ad – If you want to earn more visitors to your Facebook business page, create Website ads.
Promote CTA Button – With this Simple Ad format, you can put creatively customized call-to-actions (CTAs), like buy now, plan an appointment, or visit our website, etc. To effectively fulfill your page’s objectives.
Advanced Ad Solutions
With Advanced Ad Solutions, you can develop various kinds of Facebook ads in Ads Manager.
Why Choose Advanced Ad Solutions For Facebook Advertising?
With this format of Facebook ad solution, you can fulfill the below objectives:
Lead Generation – Collect lead information from users who probably care about your business offerings.
Conversions – Allow Facebook users to avail of relevant services available on your website or app such as payment or purchase info. Utilize Facebook Pixel to trace and determine the frequency of your ad conversions on Facebook.
Brand Awareness – Boost your company awareness by reaching out to those users who might be interested in your business.
4. Facebook Ads Can Be Easily Set Up
The most positive point about Facebook ads is that they are easy to set up.
Facebook will assist you with all the important steps, like choosing the ad format, defining your targeted traffic, budget setting, and even the ad duration.
More than just being a simple ad creation process, Facebook ads are customizable, i.e., you can choose any Facebook ad format, bidding option, and delivery selection.
For instance, if you are planning to launch PPC ad campaigns on Facebook, you can select from pay per action, pay per like, or pay per impression, accordingly.
5. You Can Do Flexible Budget Adjustments
Facebook advertising is a cost-effective way, if not “the cheapest” internet marketing service. You can set your ad campaign budget as per your affordability and there is no hard and fast rule to invest a lump sum amount in that campaign. Facebook gives you complete freedom to set how much amount you want to spend on the ads.
On reaching the maximum ad budget, Facebook will stop advertising your ads. It means the more the budget spent on ads, the more users you are likely to connect with. Reasonable, right?
Also, there are two ways by which Facebook defines its ad cost – the cost per result you get (managed by your bidding plan) and the total cost expended (regulated by your budget).
To be more sure if you are spending within your set budget, Facebook provides 2 ad limit procedures:
Campaign Spending Limit – Set the maximum budget you want to invest in your dedicated Facebook ad campaign.
Account Spending Limit – Assign a maximum ad amount you are willing to spend across all the Facebook ad campaigns you are running.
6. Retargeting Clients On Facebook
Retargeting is a crucial part of digital advertising. Facebook and Google commonly allow this facility to help you engage and retain your previous customers.
Facebook ads enable you to target those people who previously landed on your business page, visited your website, using your mobile app(if you provided any), or shared their email info with you. These are the credit-worthy customers as they already know about your brand.
If you want your earlier client to avail your NEW premium content by making a fresh purchase or starting a free trial, then use the Facebook ad service.
7. You Can Track Your Campaign’s Performance Result
You can measure the performance result of your Facebook ad campaign by gathering data from metrics, insights, and other provided tools on Facebook.
Facebook’s Ads Measurement tools make it a lot easier for you to determine the effectiveness of your ads.
8. Facebook Ad Is Mobile
Facebook owns a greater position, if not “the greatest”, in the social media app industry that exists today.
According to Statista, in 2019’s fourth quarter, all mobile devices (except tablets) generated considerable website traffic of 52.6% globally, consistently sticking around the 50% limit since the start of 2017.
Also, another stat from January 2020 reported that about 98% of globally active internet users used their Facebook profiles via smartphones.
What does this statistical info say to the entrepreneurs who are doubtful about the effectiveness of Facebook ads? Well, firstly, mobile devices are the future of internet advertising. Secondly, Facebook advertising increases the growth rate of your business.
9. Investing In Facebook Ad Is Credit-worthy
If you have invested enough time deciding which would be the most appropriate social platform to advertise your business offerings, then stop there and start with Facebook advertising. It is the most cost-effective ad investment you can make for your business.
Best Ad Investment – Though Twitter advertisements are relatively cheaper than Facebook advertisements, the latter has a greater user base compared to Twitter.
Social Media Users Stats – Marketers can expect to get a handsome ROI from their Facebook ads by double, triple, or quadruple times. There are limitless opportunities on Facebook only if you know its proper utilization.
10. Facebook Is Always A-Step-Ahead
Facebook moves faster compared to any other social media advertising platform, especially talking about its quick updating of its existing ad features.
Contact Facebook’s Business Help Center to collect extensive data and tips regarding how to use its ad products. You can also use Facebook’s Blueprint to take courses on Facebook ads so you can improve your advertisements.
So, the ultimate supposition is that Facebook ads will never fail you! It is quite affordable, can be easily created, measurable, and mobile. That is why you should choose Facebook advertising for your business.
Not to worry if you are struggling hard with Facebook ad campaigns or need assistance to get started. We, at Sun Media Marketing, understand the importance of creating buzz among growing traffic to attract and retain them by keeping them engaged in your brand offerings.
Our Facebook Advertising solutions help you stay ahead and consistently track the performance of your ad campaign to generate more leads and sales.

Is Binance Safe to Use? How do I Contact Binance Support by Phone
Cyber-security in today’s world has played a major role in the crypto industry. It is almost impossible to stay in this industry for long without security measures. There have been numerous incidents in the past where hackers have successfully hacked the accounts of traders. This is obviously the main reason for the worry for the traders to stand strong in this field.
Is Binance Safe? This is the question to which most traders or aspiring traders are waiting to get the answer. I am sure this question has also made you stop on this page.
Binance as one of the largest exchanges in the cryptocurrency market has turned out to be the number one choice for thousands of traders worldwide. If you also happen to be one of them or are willing to join the Binance community in the near future, then probably you probably also need some sort of basic knowledge for which you can visit our website, www.binancemoneyhelp.com. Now coming back to the point: Is Binance safe or is Binance trustworthy? To know the exact answer to this, you should first understand What’s Binance? Or else what is the point of discussion if we don’t know what we are so worried about?
What’s Binance?
Binance in the crypto world has since 2017 when it was first launched by Changpeng Zhao in Hong Kong as a cryptocurrency exchange. As a crypto exchange, Binance supports the most prominent coins including BTC, BCH, ETH, USDT, LTC, XRP, and BNB. Out of which, BNB is its native token, which is really useful, as it allows its users to pay a 50% discount on their transaction fees.
Binance opened its US subsidiary Binance.us in September 2019 with a compliance framework in line with US financial regulations.
I attempted to cover the minimum requirements for Reading Binance Charts that were required to understand the security aspect of Binance. The rest of the guide is focused on the security and safety measures provided by Binance. To find out more about Binance, you can visit our website, www.binancemoneyhelp.com
How to Protect Your Binance Account
Binance being a part of the crypto community, its members have considered it to be a trustworthy exchange. This has only become possible because of the great variety of security methods that prevent any unauthorized activity.
Once Binance came close to being hacked in March 2018, which may have cost them (and its users) thousands of dollars. The hackers used a phishing scam to obtain customers' login information, which they then used to sell Viacoin for a profit (a currency whose value was at its peak back then). Luckily, Binance’s strong security system identifies the fishy activity before the hackers got their hands on any sensitive data, but Binance's quick response demonstrated the exchange's honesty and readiness to defend its users.
Two Factor Authentication
Two Factor Authentication, or simply 2FA, is probably the best-known security feature used across all crypto exchanges. The two-factor authentication adds one more layer of security protection to your account.
A factor that is represented by the password created by the user, a mobile device owned by the user, or biometric characteristics (such as the user's fingerprint). On Binance, you must choose a password as your first factor and then either an SMS or Google authentication code as your second factor, but most users prefer SMS authentication as the first factor because it is more convenient because the system sends a verification code directly via SMS. However, the phone can also be hacked and that is why Binance recommends activating the Google Authenticator to receive a secret backup.
Binance has introduced a third 2FA option recently which is called Universal 2nd Factor (U2F), which allows users to protect their accounts with hardware devices.
Withdrawal Address Whitelist
"Withdrawal Address Management," is again a nice tool that allows users to input and lock the wallet addresses to which users want to withdraw the funds. In this system, users will be prompted to confirm their new address through email if they want to add it. This implies that third-party addresses will not be able to access users’ accounts without their permission.
To enable this functionality, go to your dashboard and click on the Withdrawal Address Management section and choose the "Whitelist" option.
Level 2 Verification
We recommend that you complete Level 2 Verification on your account because it not only grants you access to a higher withdrawal limit but also adds an extra degree of security to your personal information.
To activate the account, users must provide their full name, address, postal code, city, and country. After that, you'll be requested to show a photo ID. Binance will verify your account between one to two days after you've completed all of the processes.
Trust Wallet

Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU)
The Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU), pioneered by Binance in 2018 as a huge reserve vault, is one of the most exciting features.
Binance pools 10% of the total amount collected in transaction fees and transfers it to its security fund. SAFU is never short of funds because Binance is known for its strong trade volumes.
Binance was hacked in May 2019 in a large-scale security breach, following a couple of unsuccessful efforts. As a result, the exchange lost approximately $40 million worth of BTC in just one transaction!
"Hackers were able to get a huge number of user API keys, 2FA codes, and maybe other information," said Changpeng Zhao in an official article. Phishing, malware, and other attacks were among the methods utilized by the hackers."
Fortunately, Binance was able to cover the entire amount using SAFU funds, ensuring that no users were harmed. Following the tragedy, Binance and its team have worked hard to earn back the trust of their users.
