Warnings: Swearing, underage drinking, slight rape just a little bit sorta
Word count: 2880
The twin Sadie, her nickname by Rafe is Die I hope someone gets the reference. Also thank you so so so much for my first request I was so happy. Please continue sending them in. And I’m very slow at updating so sorry in advance if I take a long time to respond.
Part two
Not edited sorry for mistakes
When me and my twin sister Sadie where younger we’d switch places all the time. I was amusing being someone else for the short time we’d do it. As we got older it stopped happening as much until the last time we did it was grade 6. The two of us have lived on the rich side of the Outerbanks our whole life The rich people were never my scene though, so I made friends with the pogues. I was closest to JJ out of everyone in the group and slowly I found myself falling for the blond headed idiot. And somehow that’s how I ended up here, two months into dating JJ but scheming with my sister.
“Come on Sadie just for a little bit.” I pleaded with her, between the two of us Sadie was always the level headed and calm sister. It was my idea in the first place to switch places back in kindergarten.
“I am NOT kissing JJ.” Was the main argument to why she didn’t want to do it.
“I don’t want you to kiss him. He’s my boyfriend, it’s not like I’m going to kiss Rafe the lo-” I got cut off with a hand over my mouth. The love of your life was the ending to that sentence. Sadie doesn’t like talking about it but she’s in love with Rafe Cameron.
“If we do this you need ground rules.” She states looking around my room for the notebook we would write the rules in everytime. She finds the dark read notebook on the bottom of my bookshelf and grabs a random pen from my desk. “1. No kissing anyone. I won’t kiss JJ and you don’t kiss you know who.” she says gesturing with her hand.
“I’m never going to kiss Voldemort.” I joke as she starts in her effortlessly perfect handwriting.
“Your so funny I might die of laughter.” Her bitch face on as she glares at me. “2. Don’t make and life altering decisions.” I nod along thinking of what else to add.
“4.” “What about 3 stupid.” “3 is a stupid number I don’t like it. 4. I pick what you wear and vice versa.” She starts writing it down writing three instead of four. “I think that’s it. There’s a bonfire tonight at John B’s tonight wanna start then?”
“Yea that’s good I’m supposed to go over to Sarah’s. And take a picture of it because if you do anything wrong I’m going to kill you and throw you in the marsh.”
“And remember no kissing ya know.”
Day one
Y/N’s Pov
Sadie dressed me in a white summer dress and I took her car over to the Camerons. When I park outside of the huge house I text Sarah to let me in. I pull down the sun visor and open the mirror looking at my appearance with the light make up and my Y/H/C slightly curled.
“Your name is Sadie Y/L/N, your 16 and in love with Rafe Cameron.” I take a breath getting in the mindset of my twin. “I can totally do this.” I hop out the car making it to the first step when Sarah opens the door. “Hey.”
“Hi you know you don’t have to tell me you’re here. You just walk in.” She opens the door wider so I can slip through. I awkwardly laugh nodding my head unsure what to do. “Go up to my room I’ll get snacks.”
I walk up the stairs trying to remember where her room is. I’ve only been here a few times before Midsummers so we could all get ready together. I look both ways before deciding on going right. I get to the door I think is Sarah’s opening it praying to God I was right. But God decided on taking a vacation, instead of the light purple walls I was hoping for I got grey ones instead.
“Fuck!” I hear, the person in the room faces me calming down once he sees who opened the door. “God Die what the hell. Next time knock, and what are you even doing here.”
“Umm.... I’m lost. I think my brain stopped working I thought this was Sarah’s room.” I say looking around the room my eyes landing on a white substance on the desk he stood up from. “What’s that.” I ask hoping it’s not what I think it is and Sadie’s crush is a druggie.
“Nothing, two four doors down.” I slowly nob. closing the door trying to forget what I ‘didn’t’ just see. “And Die you didn’t see anything ok.” I nod again opening the right door this time sitting waiting for Sarah.
Sadie’s POV
“Hey princess.” JJ greats me as I get out of Putt Putt Y/N’s car. His hand finds its way to my denim clad hip from the shorts Y/N put me in. I really just want to push his hand off me, this is my sister boyfriend for God sake. He leans down to press him lips to mine but i turn my head his lips landing on my cheek instead.
“Hi.” I wave to the rest of them pulling away from JJ. I try to ignore the stare coming from the blond as I sit in one of the lawn chairs. The sun was going down as I got here Y/N telling me what time to leave and what to wear before heading out way earlier to the Camerons.
“Late as always Y/N/N.” John B shakes his head sipping the beer in his hand. Never once has my sister been early for anything and it stresses me out so much I don’t know how she does it.
“It’s called being fashionably late Booker. But you wouldn’t get that would you?” I laugh knowing that was something she would say to her best friends. JJ sits beside me still staring so I turn to face him giving him a smile, he relaxes a little bit wrapping an arm around my shoulders. My or Y/N’s phone rings in her backpack I grab it out seeing the text from ‘My Person’, it was what we agreed on for our contact names after we repeatedly binged Grey’s.
My person
Bro what do you and S talk about????
The latest drama at school
Sooo.... What is the latest drama
God do we even go to the same school Immanuel P. kissed Madison B.
Seriously!!
In a few hours it hits midnight and I was freezing. The cropped AC/DC shirt and shorts doing nothing against the cold autumn air. The night of Autumn in the Outerbanks were always so cold for a place that’s supposed to be hot. The fire was helping but I wanted something more. I got up to check Putt Putt for one of Y/N’s hoodies but I was pulled back landing on JJ’s lap a small shriek leaving my lips.
“Were you going Princess.” His arms tightly around my waist while my arms go around his neck. His eyes staring into mine with nothing but adoration. I was happy that Y/N had someone in her life that loved her, but the way he looked at me thinking I was my sister makes me want to tell them a little . But I have to admit this is so fun.
“I’m cold and just going to find a hoodie.” He still doesn’t let go, instead one hand moves off my waist to grab something beside him. In his hand is know a black hoodie that would be way too big for me but as he hands it to me I slip it over my head. “Thanks.”
“You ok, you seem, I don’t know... off.”
“I’m fine.” I give him a reassuring smile but I can she he doesn’t buy it.
“Are you sure you know you can tell anything right.” His thumb starts rubbing circles on the exposed skin under my shirt. I am so taking a long bath when I get home. I like JJ, it’s not like I hate Pogues or anything it just weird though.
“I 100 percent fine J, if something was wrong I’d tell you, you know that”
“Yea I do.”
Day 2
Sadie’s POV
Nothing was happening with the pogues today so I got an off day, but then I had to go and say something I wish I didn’t.
🥰My Surfer Boy🥺
You doing anything Can I come over
Sadie is dragging me to a kook party
Well then I’ll just have to score an invite
Now JJ wasn’t going to stop till he could come which wouldn’t be hard as Sarah was inviting John B.
Y/N POV
We pick out each others clothes before going to the party at Topper’s. I go to find Sarah lookinaroundud for the blonde. But instead of finding that blond I see Sade and JJ, his arm wrapped around my sister making me jealous.
“Hey Die.” A voice says right behind me making me jump not at all expecting Rafe. He chuckles at me reaction before handing me a drink.
“What’s in it.” I ask, Sadie doesn't normally drink so I don’t know if I should take a sip of the dark liquor. “Trust me.” Is all he says back. I take whiff smelling how strong it is. Me personally would never trust Rafe, but this is Sadie not Y/N. I take a cautious sip. The second I take a sip I almost gag at how strong it is. I could handle alcohol but that is to much. Rafe starts laughing so I grab the front of his shirt and pour the rest down his chest.
“Hey Hey.” he pushes me back but it’s to late his shirt now had a dark stain on the front. “Okay maybe I deserved that.” He shakes his head at mumbling something about changing his shirt. There was a tug on my arm and I was faced with myself, well my sister. JJ behind her laughing putting his hand up for me to high five. Which I did.
“What are you doing. I would never do that.” She scolds me in a whisper so JJ won’t hear. When we switched Sadie was very serious about staying discreet.
“Well I can’t kiss him as you what do you want me to do?” I laugh as she scoffs walking away JJ following behind her still laughing.
Day 4
Sadie’s POV
Four days nobody really suspected anything, well other than JJ he keeps asking if I ok. And I’ve had to dodge every kiss he tried to give me, and when I tell you JJ loves kiss Y/N it’s an understatement. It was the night of a boneyard kegger hosted by the pogues.
I was chatting with Kie about turtles when a very drunk Kelce came over. He slung his arm around my shoulder, his drink spilling out of his cup and onto Y/N’s favorite shirt. I never really liked Kelce he just made me uncomfortable. Any time I saw Rafe, Topper and him out I’d always say hi, bothe Rafe and Topper would respond with a hi while Kelce would look me up and down before saying anything.
“Hey babygirl. God you don’t know how many times I’ve dreamed of fucking you are you sister, to have the two of you under me screaming my name. Why don’t we make it reality.” He drops his mostly full cup silling it on the converse I was wearing. His hand going to my waist and his lips attaching to my neck.
“Get off me! Stop!” Suddenly he was ripped off me. JJ’s fist colliding with his face. Kie grabs my hand asking if I was okay. I nod hopping into the van. Soon enough John B, Pope and JJ came to the van, JJ sitting right beside me wrapping me in his arms hugging me as no one said anything.
“I don’t know how many times I’m going to have to punch him in the face for him to stop.” JJ said as we park at John B’s. I grab my phone leaving the van before it’s fully stopped I ran inside Dialing my number.
“Yo Sade how’s life on the cut.”
“Were you ever going to tell me about Kelce.” I ask angrly pacing around the small bathroom.
“About that.” She nervously laughs not continuing. “Maybe should've warned you Kelce is in love with us before you went to the party.”
In Love with us! Y/N he tried to have sex with me!.”
“I know.”
“I hate you sometimes.”
Day 5
Y/N’s POV
I was at a small party just some friends over and some games at Sarah’s. We were all sitting in the living room talking about all the drama at school which I knew nothing about. A hour in Rafe and some of his guys friends walked in. Just as Sarah was going to tell them to leave Carmella asked them to stay, while practically eye fucking the kook king himself. Instead of walking over to the girl begging for his attention he sat beside me on the couch. I put Sadie’s phone I was currently texting her on so she could keep up with everything down.
“Nice to see you here Die.”
“Hi Rafey.” I replied back using the nickname I usually call him. He rolls his eye as Carmella sits basically on top of him and starts a conversation about some boring kook thing. I felt bad for Sadie if this is what she has to deal with. “Come on. We’re out of snacks.” I grab his hand pulling him with me to the kitchen.
“Why do I have to come.” He whines like a baby as we get into the hallway, but follows even when I let go of his hand.
“Because I need help getting snacks.” JJ please forgive me for what I’m about to do. I grab the front of his expensive polo shirt putting my lips to his. He starts to kiss back but I pull away grabbing Oreos and walking back to the living room. Soon Rafe walks in clearly shocked of what just happened in the kitchen. Rule one and two broken. Oops.
Sadie’s POV
After hours of sitting in the sun on the boat I’m practically dying. I mean sure living in Obx you get used to the heat but someone turn the heat down. JJ has been asking me nonstop questions about things which I find weird but I answer.
What star sign are you? Virgo
Who’s the president? Trump
How many states are there? 50
9x7? 63
Our favorite thing to do together? Surf
What does www mean? World wide web
What university are you going to? UNC
Dream job? Not sure
I was confused what was happening the Pogues all asked what JJ was doing but he just said nothing.
“Sadie.”
“Yea-shit.”
“HA I knew it.” JJ jumped up startling everyone. I sighed, everytime it was always me that messes up if people find out.
“How did you find out. Was it that I knew was www meant?” I question texting Y/N to get to John B’s. As we pulled up to the dock Kie got out laughing that I should be an actress.
“No it’s that you answered 9x7 so fast. Also next time dream job is opening a surf shop together.”
Y/N’s POV
When I show up I knock on the door fiddling with my fingers. The door opens with the blond headed, blue eyed boy kissing me. He wraps his arms tightly around my back like he hasn’t kissed my in forever. I giggled kissing his nose wrapping my arms around his neck.
“Took you long enough. Five days surfer boy, gotta do better next time.” I push past him into the Chateau. “Hey guys miss me.” They shake the heads at me calling us crazy.
“I just thought it was that time of the month or something.” JJ said wrapping his arms around my torso resting his head on my head. I hit the back of his head causing him to playfully bite my ear. “Don’t ever do that again I was worried you were mad at me.” He looks between me and Sadie and I turn to face him giving his a salute.
I sit beside Sadie whispering in her ear that I kissed Rafe earlier tonight. “WHAT!” She jumps up. “You broke rule one and two!!! I have to go fix what you messes up now!”
“I didn’t break rule four though.”
“I hate you!” She runs out of the house starting up her car and driving off to the Camerons.
Later that night I’m curled into JJ on the bed in the room he claimed as our. The shirt he was wearing now over my shoulders enclosing me in the smell and heat that is JJ Maybank. My head on his chest listening to the rhythmic heartbeat. In the five days without JJ this is one of the things I missed most. His smell was just intoxicating and his arms tightly around me felt safe.
“Oh JJ I may have kissed Rafe.”

-Chris-
“You did what!”
Scott gaped at him as he sat on the couch in the backyard.
“You’re shitting me. You did not,” Scott continued. His shock was evident. He looked at him as if he’d said something even more surprising. Scott gulped down his beer and slammed it to the wood top of the table between them. Then he slid to the edge of the seat to gape at him some more.
“My God, stop it already!”
“Excuse me for being astounded that you actually told her.”
Crinkling his nose, he looked at Scott with his brow raised. “Actually told her? what does that mean?”
“Oh come on. Did you think I didn’t know that you’ve been in love with her for most of your life? Come on, Chris,” Scott finished fanning him off before he walked to the cooler to retrieve another beer.
“Wait, wait, hold the fuck up. you knew?”
“Yes, I knew. I knew, mom knew, Carly, Shanna—brother, this has been the worst kept secret.”
He groaned and dropped his head back, staring into the blue sky. It was a beautiful day. He heard Scott’s “humph” and looked to see him holding out a beer for him.
“Thanks,” he said as he took it, opened it, and drank half down.
“Wow. Why didn’t anyone say anything?”
“We all thought you would get it together eventually. We thought you’d both have this “duh” moment, and that would be it,” Scott explained.
He couldn’t believe his ears. His entire family knew how he felt; all these years, they knew and never let on. He could have laughed, but he was too on edge after everything. It had been two weeks since your talk, two weeks since he sat in your living room and told you everything—well, mostly everything. One week and you hadn’t called, stopped by, or texted. Nothing.
“I don’t know if I should have told her. I think I fucked up—bad.”
Scoot took a deep breath and sighed out before he took another swig of beer. When he lowered it, he didn’t speak. That made his panic and fears increase.
“What if I’ve ruined everything?” He grabbed his head and scraped his scalp.
“Why the hell did you wait so long?”
Springing to his feet, he paced around the couch. “I was scared. Have you seen the guys she’s dated? Jesus Christ, business tycoons that have billions of dollars and corporations, athletes that are built like no one’s business. All these guys are just—not me.” Voicing one of his fears felt more difficult than any of the stunts he’d done in his career. This was something he’d thought about for years, and it always gave him anxiety and stress.
“Are you serious right now?” Scott scoffed and shook his head. “You’re a world-famous movie star. You’re Captain fucking America! Even then, you know none of that matters to her. It never has. What’s the real reason.”
Dropping back into the couch with a loud groan, he finished his beer in one raise. Sitting with the words in his head, he was reluctant to voice them. If he said them out loud, then they’d be facts, irrefutable facts.
“Spit it out!”
“She deserves better,” he blurted out before he brought his face to his palms and continued. “She’s seen everything Scott, all my--.”
“Whoring ways?” He could hear the amusement in Scott’s voice.
“Not funny.” His voice was impassive.
“It is—from the outside looking in, hilarious.”
He sprang to his feet again and paced back and forth. “She’s seen the women. She knows how I’ve treated them. She knows my Dorian Grey, and you know my Dorian Grey is seriously ugly.” As he spoke, every dirty thing he’d done over the years flashed through his head, the women, the experiences, the cheating, everything.
“Ah, I see. You’re afraid she knows too much and knows you too well to see you any other way than a complete male gigolo out for sex.”
Turning around to give Scott another warning look, he rolled his eyes. “You’re still not funny.”
Scott chuckled and leaned back. “I totally am.”
“She deserves the world, Scott,” he began rubbing the back of his neck as he sat at the edge of the couch. “I’m sure I fall short,” he finished in a crestfallen tone. There it was.
A few moments of silence passed before Scott spoke again. “Wow. Wait, you’re being serious? You really think this?” When he didn’t answer, Scott continued. “Chris, we want the person we end up with to know everything about us. We want them to understand we’re not perfect, that we’re human and want to be better with them, for them.”
When he didn’t look up, he heard Scott’s footsteps before he dropped on the couch beside him. “Listen to me. You want her to have seen your ugly so she can weigh it with your good. Look, I’m your brother, and yeah, your ugly is ugly, but you’re a good guy. Shit, you’re the best man I know, next to dad. Y/N has seen it since we were kids.”
He knew he should have known this, but when it came to you, it was a different case.
“I was always afraid to hurt her. I was scared I’d fuck it up somehow, and because of it, fuck us up,” he confessed.
“So you just kept quiet about it. I’ve always known you were in love with her. I just knew one day it would come out naturally, and the two of you would fall together like natural clockwork. You weren’t supposed to wait until she had a fiancé, you jackass!”
Groaning again, he nodded. “I know, fuck, I know.”
“What were you expecting?”
What was he expecting? He’d asked himself this question since that ill-fated night he texted you the words. He hadn’t come up with an adequate response.
“I don’t know. I was drunk when I did it, drunk and wallowing,” he began. He thought back to the night in your living room then straightened up. “When I looked in her eyes as I said it, Scott, there was something there. I saw it.”
“What’d you see?”
The words teased his tongue as they’d teased his mind the entire week. He hadn’t said them out loud because what if he was wrong. The more he thought back to the look in your eyes, the more he knew that he couldn’t have been wrong.
“She has to love me too. Right?” Looking at Scott for confirmation, he was met with an unsure look.
“Let’s say she did. What do you expect to happen?”
Crinkling his nose again, he gave Scott a crazy look. “What? Obviously, call off the wedding so we can be together for real,” he plainly declared.
“Have you thought that through? What if right now, with the idea of her being married off to someone not you is playing with you, making you feel like you want this relationship? What if this is the draw of what you can’t have?” He’d thought about this long ago but dismissed it before it came up again. He didn’t feel like that was it.
“I’m not like that,” he professed.
“How do you know? This is the first time you’re in this situation,” Scott countered.
“Scott. It’s Y/N.” That was all he felt he had to say.
“Exactly. I know another reason why you held on to this for so long was because you were afraid of this. You were afraid that once you got what you thought you wanted, you wouldn’t want it anymore, and then it would have been too late. How do you know?”
Bringing himself back to the night it all became clear for him he clued Scott in. “I was sitting there thinking about her, and I knew Scott. I knew.”
Scott nodded and took his words in.
“Okay.”
“I don’t want her because I can’t have her now. It’s not because I’m scared of losing her to someone else. I’m not nearly as self-centered and narcissistic enough for that. I want her because—because I love her,” he responded with certitude. He felt this in his bones.
“Okay.”
“We used to talk every day, several times a day, all day even. I haven’t spoken to her since that night at her place. She won’t answer my calls or messages.” It hurt to say. It hurt a hell of a lot more than he ever imagined it would. It felt like rejection, a rejection he had no experience with that was made worse because it was you.
“She needs time, Chris. You just dropped the mother of all bombs on her for crying out loud. It’s not just any bomb; it’s an atomic bomb that complicates her life. She has a fiancé. She planned a wedding, one that is happening in six weeks,” Scott reasoned.
He knew all of this, and he’d even tried to drill it into his own head, but it never stuck.
“Give her some time to get her thoughts and feelings in order,” Scott finished.
He looked down at his entwined fingers and sighed. “I feel like I’m losing my shit just waiting around. I feel like I’m waiting on a judge to decide the rest of my life,” he spoke. The silence stretched between them, and his anxiety reached its peak.
“I don’t know what I’ll do if I fucked everything up, Scott.”
~~~~~~~~~
-Y/N-
“I love you, Y/N. I love everything about you.”
Thump-Thump-Thump-Thump.
“I love how you are my family.”
Thump-Thump-Thump-Thump.
“You’re my home, always have been. I’m in love with you.”
Thump-Thump-Thump-Thump.
“The sight of you together kills me.”
Thump-Thump-Thump-Thump.
“I want you, Y/N. I always have. That hasn’t changed since we were sixteen, and it will never change. I love you.”
Thump-Thump-Thump-Thump.
“I can’t lose you.”
Thump-Thump-Thump-Thump.
“I love you, Y/N.”
Thump-Thump-Thump-Thump.
“Y/N!”
The scent of roses, lilies, and cedar filled your nostrils and bringing with it your current reality. You took a deep breath, but one wasn’t enough. You took several more. It had been a hard week. You should have still been floating on could nine, and part of you was, but it was an exceedingly small part. The rest of you was in suspended animation tangled with stress, anxiety, and confusion. When you got like that, the only thing that seemed to help was work.
However, no matter how much work you did, you didn’t forget. You didn’t forget the words he said to you, didn’t forget the look in his eyes as he crowded you in the kitchen. Didn’t forget the way his fingers on you felt exponentially different than they had before. You couldn’t forget how your skin tingled, or how you didn’t move right away. When you got there, you blamed it on shock and nothing else.
“Y/N. Do you need help?”
Pressing your forehead on the cold glass, you took your final breathes and plastered a smile on your face before you walked out of the dressing room. As soon as you did, everyone gasped and fawned all over you. After stepping onto the pedestal, you looked at your reflection in the floor to ceiling mirror and nearly toppled over. You wore the wedding dress you’d picked out two months ago that was now half altered. The A-line ballgown was massive but gorgeous. You loved how it made you look as if you had no waist and plenty of hips, and not to mention the bustline did wonders for your breasts.
“My god, Y/N, you look incredible,” your mother sighed out as she clasped your hand. You could see the unshed tears in her eyes. She’d dreamed of this day probably since the day you were born. Every mother plans her daughter’s wedding in her head the moment she takes her first steps. She’d been with you through this entire process lending you strength and guidance.
“Thank you, mama.” You looked at yourself again and took another deep breath to let it out in a rush.
“Don’t like it anymore?” The question belonged to Jaxon’s mother, Anita. Smiling, you looked at her.
“No, I still like it.”
“Jaxon said when he came in the other day, he was tempted to look at it before he paid for it,” Anita informed.
Turning to her fully, you cocked your head to the right. “I’m sorry, what?”
“Calm down, Y/N. He didn’t look. The superstition is intact,” Anita remarked.
“No, no. Not about him seeing it. He did what?”
Anita stopped smiling and gave you a confused look before she continued. “He paid for it,” she said matter of factly like it was no big deal. The bubble of anger you felt raise within you rose so quickly smoke nearly shot through your ears.
“What’s the problem? My son makes a lot of money. He has influence and the means to do what he pleases. You know that is one of the reasons you agreed to this—expedited wedding,” Anita slid in.
“Excuse me?” You took a step forward, forgetting you were on a pedestal.”
“Y/N,” your mother cautioned making you stop in your tracks and bite back the insult you were going to return back to her.
“Jaxon has assured me it’s not because you’re pregnant, so it leaves this. No?”
You had the sudden image of leaping off the pedestal right on top of her and wrapping your hands around her neck.
“Anita,” your mother began stepping toward her. “I know we don’t know each other well, but you will soon come to realize that I go to bat for my baby with anyone who dares disrespect her. Listen here, your son asked her to marry him, not the other way around. You’ll do well to remember that when you speak to her and remember that it’s a good thing when a man finds a wife—that is if they don’t cheat and find another younger one.”
Your jaw dropped. She took - it - there. Your mother didn’t shrink back or cower; she held her head high and puffed out her chest. You pressed your lips together, pleased at the reminder that you were her daughter. Anita had a high and mighty look on her face before she slinked away to the seats. Once there, she sat.
“Let’s also remember that love is why we’re all here, Jaxon’s and Y/N’s for each other,” your mother finished. When Anita didn’t speak again, your mother turned back to you and gave you a nod.
“Let’s carry on.”
Soon after, your sister Sharice arrived with your niece Adella along with your aunts Florence and SherryAnne. Once they arrived, the tone of the parlor drastically changed. They laughed, joked and chatted as if they didn’t care where they were. You didn’t mind; it distracted you. For the remainder of the appointment, the seamstress worked her magic pinning, measuring, and altering according to your specifications. You always had a glass of champagne in one hand and your phone in the other. Just because the majority of the day was dedicated to this didn’t mean you wouldn’t work.
Halfway through, Anita made an excuse to leave. Before she left, she pulled you in to a hug and kiss while making you promise to make it to the mayor’s mansion for dinner one night during the week. Reluctantly you agreed, and she pranced out of the parlor as if she hadn’t disrespected you in a significant way.
Once she’d left, you dropped onto the couch with all the flounce of the dress around you.
“Ignore her. She’s just mad her precious only son puts you above her. She’s jealous,” Sharice said.
“Jealous or not she should get the fuck over it. she purposely told me about Jaxon buying the dress. He’s told her about how I act about him doing things like this.”
You were angry and had every intention of ripping him a new asshole for doing what he did plus telling his mother something that was between the two of you.
“Your man is well off, enjoy it. You’re going to be married, what’s his will be yours,” your aunt SherryAnne explained.
“I understand that Aunt Sherry, I get it. That does not mean he can throw his money at me. I’ve worked hard for everything I have, and yeah, I don’t have millions or a mother who is a Mayor that comes with connections and pomp, but I sure as hell have my own. We talked about the dress. I said I was going to pay for it. He undermined me and did it behind my back. He didn’t even tell me,” you ranted.
“Maybe he doesn’t know how serious you are about it,” your mother hypothesized.
Rolling your eyes, you knocked back the remainder of the champagne and held out your hands, a silent plea for them to help you up. As they did, you all giggled.
“Are you sure you want this dress?”
“Yes. Don’t worry; I’ve already eyed the reception dress,” you announced as you walked back to the dressing room to change back into your clothes.
Ten minutes later, you reemerged dressed and ready to go. The group of you walked out to the sidewalk and said your goodbyes. When they all walked away, your mother turned to you and studied your face before she gently caressed your cheek.
“Are you alright, baby girl?”
Sighing you thought if you should unburden yourself, but the second you thought to, you decided against it. What was the purpose?
“Yeah, I’m fine, just tired.”
She nodded and pulled you in for a hug. “Maybe go hang out with Chris for a few hours. He always works magic with ironing you out.”
The sound of his name filled you with so many conflicting emotions that you knew he was the last person you needed to see. When she pulled back, she kissed your forehead and tapped your cheek before she walked to her car. Waving goodbye, you watched her car drive off. Checking your watch, you saw you had fifteen minutes to meet Jaxon at the market as you’d promised. After the events at the parlor, that was the last thing you wanted to do. Part of you didn’t trust yourself well enough not to blow up at him in the middle of the produce department. Resigning yourself to your fate, you hailed a taxi and got on your way.
Thanks to traffic, by the time you got to Whole Foods, you were running a little late. As you got out of the taxi, you saw Jaxon standing outside talking on your phone. You took a deep breath and approached him. When he saw you coming, his smile widened as he held his hand out for you. Deciding against taking it, you held onto your purse with the hand he reached for instead. Not picking up your cue, he leaned in to kiss you, but you turned your cheek and continued walking into the store.
Jaxon tried to wrap up his conversation, but after a few minutes, you could tell he was being roped into an even longer dialogue. Pushing the cart through the aisles, you placed items in while he trailed behind you. When he put his hand on your hip, you pushed forward, breaking the contact. Every time he tried to stop you from moving, you didn’t allow it.
After almost ten minutes of this, Jaxon abruptly ended his call. “Okay I’m done, they’re gone. It’s just you now. Tell me how was the dress fitting,” he began wrapping his arms around you, making you face him.
“Call them back. I’m fine. I don’t need your attention,” you said, pulling from him and walking ahead.
“You don’t—what?” His hurried footsteps echoed behind you before he was pulling you back to him.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” you lied.
“Bullshit. I’ve known you long enough to know when something’s wrong. What did I do?”
“Interesting you know you did something,” you slid in before walking away again.
“Come on, Y/N, don’t play games. If I fucked up tell me what I did so I can make it right.”
“How? By throwing your money around some more?”
The way he looked at you said he knew what this was about. When he opened his mouth to no doubt explain it away and brush it under the rug, you walked away yet again. Turning down another aisle, you looked at the products as you passed them, trying to remember just what you had on your list. When you got halfway down the aisle, Jaxon fell into step with you.
“Let me explain,” he began before you cut him off.
“Explain how you undermined me and went behind my back to do something you knew I wouldn’t want? Explain that?” The impatient look on your face only grew to one of annoyance.
“Baby, it wasn’t like that.”
“This is not the place to talk about this. Let’s just get this over with and get out of here,” you suggested while putting products into the cart.
Before Jaxon could speak again, you heard a familiar voice call your name. Your back stiffened.
“Chris, my man,” Jaxon began.
“How you doing?”
“Good, me and the soon to be Mrs just getting some groceries for dinner,” Jaxon informed. Slowly you turned to face him. He wore a low tipped baseball hat, his signature incognito look. It was stupid. You’d told him before that it was his beard that got him recognized.
“Hey, DeeDee,” Chris said. You nearly snorted out loud hearing your nickname.
“Hi.” Again it was barely above a whisper.
“How are you?”
“Great--I mean good--fine,” you stuttered.
Silence fell between the three of you, an awkward silence.
“So come over for dinner tonight, Chris,” Jaxon petitioned. Your head snapped to him, confused how he’d deduced that you being angry at him meant to invite a third party to dinner so you couldn’t talk. The man was nuts.
“Uh—are you sure? I don’t want to impose,” Chris began before Jaxon cut him off.
“Nah, no imposition, right babe. Any best friend of my other half is a best friend of mine. Plus, I’m sure you guys would love the time together. I know the planning of the wedding is keeping this one busy, so yeah, we’re sure,” Jaxon monologued.
Another thing you hated was him talking for you. He’d toned it down over the months, but every now and then, it would spark up. Chris was looking at you as if he was waiting for your final word. He knew how you hated being spoken for. While you wanted to tell him that tonight wasn’t the night the puppy dog look in his eyes broke your heart. Sighing, you nodded.
“Come to dinner. You gotta eat right.”
“Okay. Dinner. Your place?”
“No, we’re at mine tonight,” Jaxon corrected. “Don’t worry, in a few weeks we’ll have it together in the new house,” Jaxon finished.
“Uh, we should go if there is any hope of actually having dinner ready,” you voiced, turning away from both men and walking away toward the checkout. This was going to be a long night, you thought to yourself.
When you got back to Jaxon’s place, the argument that was had went on for nearly an hour. It was really one-sided. He listened to your gripes, apologized, and promised to check himself when he felt the urge to spoil you. The way he didn’t even put up a fight made you feel like he wasn’t listening to what you said or considering it in a real way. He said all the right things, but he’d done that before only to flip and do the offense again.
You went your way to the bedroom, and he went his to the kitchen, and that was where you remained for the next forty or so minutes. You needed the time to cool down. You knew you’d grown up differently and knew you two had different ideas of gender roles, but you didn’t think it was a major discrepancy or too much that you couldn’t work through it. This recent move had you wondering if maybe it was something that couldn’t be worked on.
As you stared at yourself in the walk-in closet, you closed your eyes and pinched the bridge of your nose. You could feel your migraine and wanted to do nothing but sink into a hot bath with a cup of lavender tea. One man was giving you a headache from his lack of care about what mattered to you and the other from his overabundance of caring at the wrong time.
You felt arms wrap around your midsection, which jarred your eyes open. For some reason, you expected to see Chris.
“I’m sorry, really, really sorry. You can’t be mad at me anymore. I can’t take it. You know how I feel about leaving things unspoken and holding on to slights. Things like that can seriously hurt a relationship.”
You knew he was reminiscing on his parents. Their fairytale marriage fell apart because of one too many unspoken things and slights that created caters between them that turned into separate bedrooms and his father’s affairs. Sighing, you dropped your head back onto his chest, allowing him to kiss your bare shoulder.
“Forgive me?”
You remained silent and just stared at him through the mirror. His hand moved from your belly to your pelvis, where he raked up your skirt.
“What’re you doing?”
“Sssh,” Jaxon softly lulled, continuing what he was doing until his fingers were softly scratching a path on your inner thigh in an upward motion. “Let me make it up to you.”
“How?”
“By taking that migraine,” Jaxon answered before his fingers slid underneath the material of your underwear to rub against your sex. Groaning, you attempted to move, but he kept you where you were by pinching your clit. Sucking in a breath, you locked eyes with him.
“Let me do all the work, darlin’.”
Once the words were spoken, Jaxon wasted no time with teasing. He intently circled your clit in tight, quick motions. You leaned against him, sighing out, quickly getting used to how good it felt. Every few seconds, he changed the direction he swirled his finger and the speed of which he did it. After only a few minutes, you were close. With your eyes closed, your moans and pants echoed in the closet as Jaxon’s free hand held you tightly at your hip. You felt his finger leave you, which made your eyes flutter open to see him sucking it clean. In the same breath, Jaxon stepped before you then dropped to his knees.
“I’m sorry,” he repeated before he lifted one of your legs and draped it over his shoulder and kissed your bud.
You groaned and dropped your head back and focused on the pleasure he was giving. Once your eyes closed, the face you saw was not that of your fiancé, the man on his knees before you giving you pleasure. It was Chris’s. You saw him as if he stood right before you. He was watching you, his eyes boring into you, looking deeper into you than anyone had ever seen—just him. You gasped and held onto Jaxon’s head feeling your orgasm get closer and closer. Still, Chris in your mind, stared. It was as if he was taunting you, silently asking if this was what you wanted if Jaxon was doing it for you.
Feeling the pressure of Jaxon’s suck increase, you whimpered and began bucking your hips riding his face. The slurps echoed in the closet, and Chris’s stare intensified. The blue in his eyes beckoned to you, spoke to you, told you that you were making a mistake and that you should stop pretending. When you felt your orgasm whip through you, you felt an urge stronger than any you’d ever felt before to scream his name—Chris’s name. Biting your tongue, you rode the wave until you shook, and your knees buckled. As you fell to the floor, Jaxon’s arms caught you.
“I got you, sweetheart.”
When you opened your eyes, you saw Chris’s face and not Jaxon’s, and that was what fueled your actions.
“Make love to me,” you whined while trying to remove his pants.
Jaxon didn’t protest, he obliged and quickly undid his pants to free himself from his undid zipper. When he slid into your slickened heat, neither of you went slowly. There was a time to take your time, and this wasn’t it. Jaxon moved your body with the strength he possesed and fucked you with frenzied thrusts. It was what you needed to unsee Chris's face, to push aside the unrecognizable desire you felt for your best friend. The desire wasn’t only for him, though.
Feeling the power of Jaxon inside of you, you knew it was him you were making love to, you knew it was him your body was reacting to, but you also knew Chris was also causing some reaction. Planting your feet onto the floor, you sped your movements, not wanting the ability to think properly for the next however long. You’d worry about what this all meant later—much later.
~~~~~~
-Chris-
He hated it here. At your place, he saw pieces of your life with him, but here he saw the other pieces that put together the full picture. There were framed photos everywhere, along with boxes that Jaxon explained away, stating you were in the process of moving into your new house—together. It was a painful thought, one he tried to push to the back of his mind. This was the first time he’d been here. He was always able to get himself out of coming by, but tonight it seemed like his luck had run out.
When they made it to Jaxon’s mancave, he saw accolades, accomplishments, pictures galore of all the influential people he knew, and even awards. It all presented like he was a good guy. It only made him want to hate Jaxon even more, but he hadn’t mistreated you in the time you’d been together. He couldn’t remember a time you came to him crying about something he’d done or how he’d hurt you. There was no representation of his bad character. He had no reason to hate him, none but one—you. This man had you.
When he first walked in, he could smell him on you. You didn’t smell like your usual self, and that told him all he didn’t need to know. From then he had to pretend that the sound of his voice didn’t make him sick, that the pictures of how happy you were together didn’t boil his blood and the thought of you in his kitchen cooking for him night after night didn’t give him the strongest bout of jealousy he’d ever felt. He was an actor, but he doubted he was playing his part well tonight.
“Dinner!”
The two of them made their way back to the dining room to see you’d filled the table with the food.
“Smells amazing, baby.” Jaxon wrapped his arm around your waist and kissed your cheek.
“Let’s eat,” you rushed out, breaking contact with Jaxon to get to your seat, a seat he pulled out. He nearly vomited in his mouth.
Dinner was awkward and painful. He expected it to be, but it was increasingly so. Jaxon kept a hand on you at all times; he could see his grip on your bare thigh through the glass dining table. As he spoke about everything under the sun, he noticed you looked distracted. Every now and then, your eyes met and lingered before you looked away with a guilty look in yours. He wondered what you were thinking, what you were feeling. Every time he tried to read your body language, it told him nothing, but you were tense. Was it the dinner, or was it something else besides what he’d told you?
Like clockwork, every few minutes, Jaxon found a way to make even more contact with you than his hand placed on your thigh. He’d either lean into you to kiss your forehead or an exposed shoulder or even pull you in for a kiss. He could see the tension in you increase every time Jaxon attempted affection. All the while he sat there watching the two of you, he knew what he felt and why he felt it, but it didn’t make it any easier to handle. It broke him.
“So you know we’re moving, the move is happening in a little while. Can we count you in to help?”
“Jax, god, we have the moving people for that,” you began.
“Yeah, but you even said you didn’t want them moving everything. I’m talking about those things,” Jaxon clarified.
“No, Chris is busy. He’s not here to be at our beck and call. He has a family to spend time with.”
“I thought as your man of honor; he’d want to help out,” Jaxon continued.
“Man of honor?”
You slapped your forehead and closed your eyes.
“You hadn’t told him? She didn’t tell you?”
“Tell me what?” He looked at you and waited for you to explain.
“I was—it’s nothing.”
“No, it’s something. What?”
You sighed and finished your glass of wine before continuing. “I was going to ask you to be my man of honor the next time you were in town. Then—things—yeah,” you trailed off.
His heart sank. You wanted him to stand beside you over your sister or even all your friends.
“It was stupid,” you continued.
“You don’t want it anymore?”
“What?”
“Would you rather someone else do it?”
Your eyes locked, and he was able to read you clearly for the first time in weeks.
“No, I want you. Only you,” you whispered. It felt like you meant something else.
“So whaddya say?” Jaxon’s voice broke the moment.
“Uh, let me check some things, and I’ll get back to you,” he said, barely above a whisper as he avoided your eyes. This night had just gotten one hundred times worse.
Once dinner was finished, Jaxon retreated to his office to take an urgent call, which left him to help you with the dishes. When he walked into the kitchen with the last of the dishes, you were finishing loading the dishwasher.
“Dinner was great,” he professed.
“Thanks, you whispered.
He stood beside you in silence for a few moments. “You’ve been avoiding me,” he began.
“Not avoiding. Busy.”
He scoffed. “We’ve both been busy before and still managed to talk all day. You’ve been avoiding me. Why?”
“Chris, I have a lot going on with work and this wedding.”
“So cancel the wedding.”
Your head snapped to him so fast he nearly laughed out loud.
“What?!”
“You heard me. Cancel the wedding,” he repeated.
“Why the hell would I do that?
“Because I love you and you love me.”
You rolled your eyes and looked back to the dishes. “Of course, I love you. you’re my best friend.”
“You’re in love with me,” he flat out said, not caring if anyone heard.
“Chris. Stop. I love Jaxon. We’re getting married in six weeks.
“Are you in love with him? You and I both know there is a difference. I don’t think you are,” he cockily said though he didn’t feel so confidant in his declaration.
“Yes, I am,” you answered. Again, his heart sank.
“And me?”
You looked at him again, and he saw the conflict in your eyes. There should be no conflict where resolution resides, he thought before he took a step to you, closing the distance between you.
“Y/N, come on,” he pleaded before you took a baby step back.
“This is not the place or time. Jaxon is in the other room.”
“I don’t care like at all. How do you feel, Y/N?”
“Fuck, I don’t know how I feel. I don’t know what I feel,” you blurted out in an urgent fiery whisper.
“Yes, you do. Okay yeah, it was a shock, but that was two week ago. You know how you feel, how you’ve always felt I’m suspecting.”
You rubbed your forehead and sighed out. “Jesus, okay. Let’s say I did know. What does it matter? I’m engaged to be married to a great guy.”
“Why would you marry someone you don’t love in the right way? Why would you resign to live the rest of your life with someone you don’t profoundly desire on every single level? Why would you want that especially knowing there is a better choice, the one who loves you as fiercely as you love him?”
He could have just pulled you to him, something said you wouldn’t have stopped him, but he didn’t know if he had that level of asshole in him—not right now.
“I’m sorry about that,” Jaxon said as he walked into the kitchen, breaking the bubble, making you move away from him to approach Jaxon. Once at his side, he watched on as Jaxon kissed you. It hurt to see, especially when his hand gripped your hip in a possessive manner. While it hurt, it also showed him what he wanted. He knew, without a doubt, his reasons weren’t for anything other than you were the woman of his dreams.
It was clear what he had to do now. He had to prove it to you. He had to up the ante and prove to you that he really felt what he felt. He also had the double task of showing you that you loved him as much as he loved you. He had to prove to you that he was the better choice for you, not Jaxon.

Viva Las Vegas, Pt. 15 - Net Zero Change
Summary: Sunset Curve Alive AU, Willex, what’s the truth?, 2.9k
@trevor-wilson-covington is the bestie who makes these lovely edits, we stan supportive friends
WARNINGS: death mention, swearing
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12, Part 13, Part 14
Alex, Reggie, Flynn and Kyle all sat at a table inside the record store while Willie took care of closing procedures, currently sweeping up around them. Flynn sipped on her soda, eyeing everyone else with a mix of piqued interest and uncertainty.
“I can let you guys stay and talk for about another half hour, but then I’ve gotta kick you out,” Kyle told the three at the table.
“Thanks,” Alex said. “We really appreciate you being so understanding.”
“Not at all,” Kyle said casually. “And Willie’s in the clear, so long as he never pulls a stunt like that again.”
“Thanks for covering for me, man,” Willie said repentantly at Kyle’s rightfully miffed tone.
“I also covered the cost for that jacket, so you owe me for that.”
Alex looked at him, still unable to wrap what had just happened around his head. Climbing somewhere high and screaming felt like an ideal thing to do right then. He wasn’t angry - at least, he didn’t think so - but he still felt like a bottle of Coke that someone had just shaken and dropped a Mento into. His punching bag was already being worn down enough, but since he didn’t have his drums at home it had been a lifesaver recently.
There was Willie, right in front of him, like a miracle. He was so wonderfully unaware of everything, and there was no doubt he hadn’t forgotten Alex. It brought a strange sense of euphoria that battled everything else that had kept his mind dark for so long. He’d used to imagine running into Willie, even for a while after Caleb said he was gone, and thought he’d be the one to catch Willie off guard and rush toward him with joy. Mostly, he’d wanted to knock Willie off his board as slight payback for that one time, but also because it would’ve been satisfying to surprise him for once.
Kyle had gotten up from the table and joined Willie in closing up the store.
“So, you guys all know each other, huh?” he asked.
“Yeah!” Flynn exclaimed. “And I’d like to think that it’s all thanks to me,” she added smugly.
“How so?” Reggie asked in curiosity.
“I helped Willie get into Julie’s concert in Vegas,” she said. “And I’m the reason you two stuck around here.”
Alex looked at her in surprise. Without Flynn, he imagined going with Willie to the Stratosphere or anything else that night wouldn’t have happened. He owed her a serious favor; he wasn’t going to forget that.
“Are you sure you don’t have, like, magic powers or something?” Reggie asked.
Flynn only smiled and quietly sipped her soda again, keeping the mystique for herself.
As Willie disappeared into the kitchen to clean there, Alex looked at Reggie.
“So, do you have as many questions as I do?” he asked.
“Yeah, man,” Reggie said, peeking back toward the kitchen door. “I mean, does Caleb not know?”
“For someone out of the loop,” Flynn butted in. “What’s going on?”
Alex shifted uncomfortably in his seat and took in a deep breath. “So you know how we got signed?”
Flynn nodded. “Uh huh. And congratulations, by the way.”
Alex merely shrugged in acknowledgement.
“Well, the guy who owns the label used to be Willie’s caretaker.”
“Oh, I didn’t know that,” Reggie muttered. Alex suddenly felt a little guilty for missing that detail when talking with the guys.
“Yeah, sorry I forgot to mention it,” he apologized. “Anyway, the day that we signed on, Caleb personally told me that Willie had died in a fire.”
Flynn stared in disbelief.
“Wow,” she said. “That’s fishy.”
“No kidding,” Reggie commented. “But why would he do that? Caleb’s been nothing but good to us.”
“You guys should be careful. He was Willie’s guardian? If his story is that far off, I’d watch out.”
Peering over toward the kitchen, Alex couldn’t get a view of Willie at all. He was dying to hear his side of things.
“I guess we’ll have to see. Flynn, how are you getting home?”
“Oh, I was just gonna take the bus.”
“With your equipment?” he said, already worried. It was a lot for her to be lugging around, whether she could carry it alone or not. “Flynn, let us get you a taxi.”
She looked at him, and he expected her to protest and say she could handle herself. To his surprise, she simply huffed.
“You’re right. It’s getting late.”
“Yeah, and one of us could go with you to make sure you get home safe.”
“I’ll go,” Reggie volunteered. He glanced at Alex and it was clear he was giving him an opportunity.
“Thanks Reggie,” Flynn said. “You guys have gotta keep me updated with everything going on, though. I smell drama. A lot of it.” She finished the last few gulps of her soda and stood up to grab her gear.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, man,” Reggie murmured to Alex, patting him as he rose to help her out.
“See you.”
As he watched them make their way outside, Alex sighed.
“So, Vegas, huh?” Kyle said as he reentered the room, making him jump.
“Uh, yeah,” Alex replied warily. This guy seemed fairly nice, but he could never be too careful about how much he told strangers. He watched him dust the shelves, trying to relax in his seat.
“Willie doesn’t talk about it much, so I’m kinda surprised he had such a reaction tonight. I got the idea he hated the place.”
Puzzled, Alex didn’t respond immediately. He wondered what could’ve happened.
“Well, I’m sure he has his reasons. But when I met him we had a pretty good time.”
“Hmm,” was all that Kyle said as he looked into space thoughtfully before moving on to locking things up.
Alex realized then that he was the only customer left in the store and he’d simply let his friends leave him. His head was certainly not on straight. The time was nearly midnight, and the options of transportation and his experiences with them only dialed up his anxiety. Busses were just weird because everyone could watch him, taxis were expensive and he’d given most of his cash to Reggie, and the chances of having Bobby pick him up were very low.
“Hey,” Willie was standing over him, skateboard in hand. Alex looked up, startled once again, but the feeling of Willie’s hand on his shoulder softened it.
“Hey.”
“Where did Reggie go?”
“Oh,” Alex started. “He’s making sure Flynn gets home safe.”
Nodding, Willie glanced outside.
“What about you?”
Alex rose with a sigh.
“I’ll figure something out.”
They left the store and slowly walked to the corner. Willie still gripped his board as he gazed up at the red hand on the opposite side of the street.
“Do you...wanna walk with me to my place?” he asked Alex. “‘Cuz you look like you want to talk. Then we can find you a way home.”
Sticking his tongue in his cheek, Alex eyed him thoughtfully. It was almost like they hadn’t just spent four months apart - Willie could read him like a book.
“Yeah, that sounds good.”
Unfortunately, that made him stuff his hands deeper into the pockets of his jacket. He’d let himself take Willie’s hand before and have high hopes because he’d let himself ignore reality back then. Even when the guy who he admittedly still had a crush on was back from the dead, Alex didn’t want to tempt fate again. As they both crossed the street, he felt himself hunch inward just as he had earlier with Reggie.
“So, I’m guessing it’s a little weird to see me, since you thought I was a goner and everything,” Willie started nervously.
“Dead,” Alex said, looking at him seriously. “You were dead.”
Willie slowed his pace and sucked in a breath.
“Yeah.”
For a few yards they didn’t speak. Something ate at Alex’s insides, and he couldn’t put a finger on it. Change had always been his worst enemy, but this was a good change. Willie was alive, then he was dead, and now he was back. It should’ve been like net zero change, cancelled out like math. He should be fine about this, right? Why was he not fine?
“Alex, are you...are you mad?” Willie dared to ask.
He paused in his tracks, arms slacking against his sides. Looking over at Willie, then down at the sidewalk again, he nodded.
“Yeah, actually.” Immediately the eating feeling worsened. “I don’t know why that is, but you’re right. I am kinda mad.”
Willie furrowed his brow, but remained quiet for a minute as they continued walking.
“Are you mad at me?” he wondered aloud, finally.
“Maybe?” Alex said, feeling the temperature in his veins rise the more he went on. “That sounds silly, I know, because it wasn’t you who lied to me and put me through absolute agony for weeks on end. You were just the person I thought was dead and so every time I thought about you, it hurt. I don’t even know why it hurt so much. It’s not supposed to hurt when you’re still practically a stranger to me. All I know is that we kind of liked each other and then I thought I’d never find out anything else. I mean, we only knew each other for one day. One fucking day. That was it!”
Alex saw Wilie flinch at the unexpected use of language. A little too late, he realized he should’ve been more gentle. While it was true that he needed to finally release more than just self-pity, it wasn’t worth making Willie miserable for it.
“Wow,” Willie murmured. It already sounded more wounded than Alex could bear.
“That was harsh; I shouldn’t have blown up like that.”
He looked over at Willie to be sure he hadn’t done too much damage already.
“I can’t imagine how awful that was,” Willie said simply.
The pressure that had heated up his veins rapidly began to cool down as Alex realized he was handling this all wrong. He’d momentarily lost control and already saw its potential for harm.
“It’s not you I’m mad at. It’s Caleb.”
“That makes two of us,” Willie told him. “You want to know what really happened?”
“I want to know everything.”
They continued walking along as Willie seemed to try summing up the past few months properly in his mind.
“I don’t know exactly where to start,” he said.
“Well, why don’t you start where we left off?” Alex suggested. It was only fitting that one of them was walking the other home, just like they’d been doing the last time they’d seen each other. There was a funny sense of poetry to it.
“Okay,” Willie began. “I guess what really started it was when we were up on the Stratosphere, remember?”
“Uh huh.”
“I told you that I have amnesia because I had a memory come back.”
“Right, about your dad.”
“You remember this really well,” Willie commented. Alex bowed his head, feeling his lip curl the tiniest bit. “Anyway, I started drawing the things I remembered. And I mean, I drew every detail I could. Even though back then it was just the one about my dad and then the first time that I ran away from Caleb - ”
“Wait, what?” Alex blurted.
Willie cocked his head to the side as he tried to keep the narrative easy to follow.
“Oh yeah that was weird, I had this dream where everything was backwards and it happened like every night and it took me forever to figure out that it was a memory. Anyway, the reason I have amnesia right now? I was trying to run from Caleb because he was a total a-hole and then I got hit in the head!”
Alex looked at his casual expression with mild horror.
“That’s a lot to process,” he said slowly.
“Yeah, I guess he was putting on a face after that, because he didn’t really get nasty until right before I left him for good.”
By the time Willie finished dishing everything to Alex, they had been standing by his front door for a solid ten minutes. Alex could only stand there and let everything turn over in his mind like a taffy pull. Moreover, a pit of dread was forming in his stomach at the same time as a spark of joy grew in his chest.
“So...Harrison Ford?” he said.
Willie smiled. “Much cooler than Han Solo.”
“I still can’t believe you were literally planning to skate your way here. Even I would’ve ruled that out after a minute.”
Lifting a hand defensively, Willie opened his mouth but couldn’t find words.
“I - I will never live that down,” he chuckled.
Alex chuckled in turn. “No.”
For a moment he just looked at Willie. It was the first time that night where his vision wasn’t clouded with questions or overwrought with mixed emotions. This time, it was just as he’d seen him that first moment when they’d sat across from each other at the diner. That was ages ago, but it didn’t seem to have dimmed or faded one bit in Alex’s memory. Here, he was just Willie. It was so nice to see that again.
“What made you come to LA?” he asked. He shuffled his feet awkwardly.
“You did.” Willie looked right into his eyes as he said it.
The words were plain and honest. Something swelled in Alex’s chest as he heard them. If anyone else had said that - the guys, Julie, even his sister Abby - he would’ve doubted it a little. That was the awful thing with his anxiety is that it immediately twisted everyone’s words into betrayal. Not Willie’s, though.
“Why me?”
Willie got thoughtful, eyes unfocused for a moment.
“I don’t know. I’d do anything for you,” he said, gazing back up at Alex again.
Alex shifted his weight.
“Because I helped you start regaining memories, right?”
It made sense that if he’d been in that position, the person who’d been with him in those moments would mean a great deal to him, too.
“No,” Willie said. “Just ‘cuz. I still like you.”
Alex blinked and his mind emptied of all thought - a feat he’d never imagined occurring. Soon he found himself caught looking into those brown eyes, and instead of wanting to throw in a line, he wished he could plant himself there and spread roots. If it were up to him, he had no desire to go back home and he would just stay happy where he was.
It took a while to realize that he’d slowly begun to lean forward, lips parted as he gazed down at Willie’s mouth. Their noses were just barely not touching, and they hung in the balance waiting for the other to cross that threshold. Willie looked vaguely hypnotized, if not a little indecisive. His thoughts finally caught up to his actions, and once Alex saw what he was doing he turned away.
Dammit, how could you mess that up, Alex? he berated himself. He was already so out of focus and not thinking about the consequences of his actions; he couldn’t go around treating Willie like something else to dump his turmoil upon. Clearing his throat, he straightened his posture. Willie nervously ran a hand through his hair, visibly confused.
“So....” Alex began awkwardly. “You have your own place?”
Willie nodded, not looking him in the eyes anymore.
“Yeah, it’s kinda nice,” he said plainly. “You’ll have to check it out one of these days. You could see Sheldon, too.”
“Yes,” Alex said quickly. “Yes, I would totally be down to come see you and Sheldon. That would be great.”
He hated that the natural cadence in his voice was so sarcastic sometimes. Right now, it didn’t sound genuine at all and he desperately wanted to convey how much he meant every word.
“Bet you’re sort of busy with the band and school and all, though,” Willie said, clearly a little despondent. Alex really wanted to go back and fix the moment they’d had before. He wasn’t making it any better.
“Well, I’m free all next Saturday. You’re not working, are you?”
“I can arrange things with Kyle to get covered. I’m usually on his good side and he doesn’t stay mad for long, so I’m not worried.”
“That’s good.” A pause. “So it’s okay if I come on Saturday?”
“Sure, sure,” Willie rushed to say. “I’m totally down for that. Uh...I just remembered that we’ve gotta get you back home. Did you know how you were gonna do that?”
“Uh yeah, I was gonna just catch the bus,” Alex said, entirely impromptu. After embarrassing himself so badly with Willie, he could override any fears about using public transportation. All he wanted to do was lift his hood over his head and pull the strings so it closed over his face.
“Got it,” Willie replied.
“But I’ll be excited to see you next Saturday,” Alex added. He saw Willie’s eyes light up a little and it made him smile in relief as he began stepping away from Willie’s door. Biting his lip in his usual cute manner, Willie nodded at him.
“See you then.”
Alex exhaled in excitement as he made his way up the steps to the street, barely able to take his eyes off Willie. Only when he couldn’t see him anymore did he force himself to turn away.

MGA SEASON 4: EPISODE 5 STARTS NOW!
The weeks seem to be passing quicker and quicker. Before too long, episode five is already airing, and the highlights of the previous one show on screen. People cry as their friends are eliminated but, above all else, this is a competition and as the challenges continue, you should fight to continue as well. The lucky audience’s bright smiles should serve as encouragement to those losing hope.
A girl confidently shows her hand-made sign with Koo Junhoe’s face on it, while another says she’s a fan of Kim Jinhee instead. “Why?” She asks when her friend stares at her weirdly. “She’s pretty.” A group of men has their banners tied to their forehead instead. “Kim! Chung! Ha!” They all scream in unison as if their passion for the girl wasn’t obvious enough. A lot of others get their chance at the camera, but the video gets sped up and it's hard to see any more names from the images.
Your favorite CEOs sit at the same famous table as before. So Jiseob raises a hand to calm down the audience before officially starting the episode. “Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fifth episode of the Mnet Global Auditions Season 4.” He lets the cheering swell up for a few moments before raising his hand once again. “This week, our contestants were asked to show us a performance of a mashup. This will not only show the talent of those who decided to produce a mashup themselves but also show the versatility of all as performers. There are seven teams this week, but only one of them can be the winner.” This time, his long pause is followed by silence, the anticipation building up among everyone. “Without further ado… let’s meet our first group of contestants.”
The crowd cheers as Team A walks on stage. They’re Kim Junmyeon, Jeon Somi, Koo Junhoe, Ha Sungwoon and Bae Joohyun. After introducing themselves as team Celestial, each of the contestants gets a chance to introduce themselves to the public before walking to their starting spot. It’s a routine the public should already be used to, and quickly the scene changes to that of a practice room.
Instead of the usual start at the Sphere building, the contestants find themselves inside of Royal. The first topic that comes up is the leader spot. As the camera passes by them in order of age, a text lets the audience know each of them has already carried the title, except for the youngest, Somi. The girl seems to be in as much shock as everyone else, but her teammates all offer her support. “We’ll help you, if you’d like,” states Joohyun before extending a hand to the younger. “If you need any advice about being a leader or anything at all, don’t be afraid to ask us, okay?”
The group then goes on a hunt for a mashup, choosing to find one instead of making it themselves. They settle for a mix between ‘Starry Night’ and ‘Save Me’, going for a softer feeling this time around. Afterwards, while each person heads off to prepare, Sungwoon approaches Junmyeon with a pen and paper, obviously embarrassed by what he’s about to do. He asks for the other’s autograph, quickly adding: “it’s for my sister in Hong Kong.” Junmyeon seems to be just as embarrassed as the other, covering his cheeks before signing the paper. They both quickly laugh off the tension in the air, and, since they’re already there, Sungwoon asks for an autograph for himself as well.
Even with such an awkward first interaction, the screen shows a montage of all their best moments, mostly involving their journey of trying to learn the choreography and laughing at each other’s mistakes. It eventually gets late, and after working hard to polish their dancing skills, the two boys fall asleep next to each other. They only wake up in the morning when Somi walks in and lets out a screech at the sight.
Sungwoon yells back in surprise, jolting up and into a crouch resembling a martial arts position. He then attempts to flatten his hair while apologizing, but Junmyeon simply shoots him a wink and finger guns, looking just as handsome as he appeared the night before. While Junmyeon proceeds to finally raise himself from the floor, Sungwoon stares at the camera in disbelief. “Did I ask for this? No. Am I getting it? Yes. Am I slightly jealous God has not given me the ability to wink? Also yes.”
Later into practice, Somi is the one to approach Junmyeon with a question of her own. “Oppa, do you have something in your eye? You always… like… do this.” And so the girl starts to wink repeatedly and much more flamboyantly than the male usually did. “Something in my eye?” Junmyeon questions. “Yes, I have the love for all of the viewers out there stuck in my eyes.” He shoots the camera a wink, and the camera quickly focuses on Somi as her face contorts at the sight. She adds a new comment, saying, “but I know someone more handsome than you.” Except, the other is too busy blowing kisses to hear it. As their leader, though, the girl quickly reminds everyone to go back to practice, and the party comes to an end.
The camera presently returns to the stage where the mashup begins as a mix of two songs. The lyrics convey a dreadful feeling and the members manage to convey this in their performance. Their composition lacked on the aspect of dancing, but Joohyun’s modified choreography allowed everyone to shine. The performance eventually comes to an end and they strike their ending poses before it’s time for the next group to perform.
Team B is next, composed of Kim Doyeon, Joo Haknyeon, Kim Jinhee, Moon Bin and Choi Minho. “1, 2, 3…” Doyeon counts before they all introduce themselves. “As above, so below. Hello, we’re team Styx!” Each member holds a mythological title with which they introduce themselves individually before moving to their designated spots. Before the song can start, the scene goes back in time to their practice room.
They choose Doyeon as their leader, which really was no surprise since the girl was the one who introduced them while on stage. Things seemed to be going normally, or at least until someone suggested the name ‘Cerberus’ for their team name. It sounded cool at first, but soon the boys start barking as if they were the dog themselves. The three guys share the screen as they bark together, a quick edit showing each of them as a different head of the mystical canine. The camera zooms on Jinhee’s face as she stares back at it, obviously unamused.
Not really taking the name seriously anymore, they settle on Styx instead, keeping the mythological vibe. The boys, however, never really forget to mess around every once in a while. It either involves random ‘woof’s (or ‘nyan’s from Haknyeon) or even just stopping randomly to dance without reason. However, even with all the fun and games, they all manage to show their skill. Minho steps up to make the mashup himself, while Bin takes over the difficult vocals. With this mashup, Haknyeon can showcase both his dancing and rapping skills.
[TW: MENTIONS OF BLOOD] Just like last week, Haknyeon needs to pause his practice for a moment to stop a nosebleed. This time, however, Jinhee is there to see it happen. When she asks if this is normal for him, the boy quickly replies that no, it isn’t. “I’m really sorry. I just… need to do well… and prove something. I know I shouldn’t let it get to me but… people have been saying things, about how I’m only here because of my sister, that I’m using her fame… and stuff like that… I want to prove something to them. And prove something to myself. I need to do well, so they can realize that I’m my own person with my own dreams… I need to do well. I’ll take better care of myself, I promise.” [END OF TW]
The day of the performance comes again, and a story is set to be told. Doyeon plays the role of a heartbroken girl, while Bin is her crazy ex-boyfriend. Jinhee is the angelic best friend, while Haknyeon and Minho are pretending to be interested in Doyeon. The heartbroken heroine, however, is traumatized by her past romantic experience, and sees the new boys as only trying to use her. The mashup is nicely made, and the end of the song is impressive enough to leave an impact with only Jinhee’s voice powering over anything. Just like so, the stage comes to an end.
Walking up to the stage is Team C, made up of Jin Longguo, Kim Bora, Lee Luda and Hwang Hyunjin. Their introduction is long, but also very interesting. “Café Latte: a team with a unique flavour that will stay with you and warm your heart with a rich and mature message like espresso, and lighter and heart-fluttering vocals like milk foam.” It most certainly picked up the interest of some, and after they each introduced themselves as a different type of coffee, the members move to their starting positions just in time for the scene to change back to their practice room.
First things first, the viewers are notified of Yerim’s departure of the show for personal reasons, her figure obviously not present during the meeting. Their chosen leader is Luda, the tiny girl with a strong voice. They work together to find a good song, and eventually settle on a mashup between “Coffee” and “Stay”, an interesting choice for a performance. After everybody shows agreement, the leader adds in her own thoughts. “If we go with the theme of ‘cafe latte’ we could each choose a type of coffee for ourselves, for introductions, after introducing the team together?” Her members seem excited by the idea, and as seen previously, they did use it on the final day.
They’re a very hardworking group, which they all soon realize as well. All of the members prefer to stay overnight instead of going home, to which they give themselves the nickname of ‘team sleepover’. Even the serious Longguo breaks a smile at the comment, the moment emphasized by special effect flowers popping out around his face. Although sleep is necessary, they practice hard with or without it.
For this performance, the team decided to go with a brand new choreography made by their dancers. A pair of it involves turning themselves into couples, and while Longguo and Bora seem to not really be bothered by it, Hyunjin cutely shies away from Luda whenever they finish practicing. He always pulls away, covering his face, and a cute montage shows several times it occurs, a cute song playing in the background.
Once their final practice is done, they all cheer and clap at their achievements. “Thank you for your hard work, everyone.” Longguo says before the leader decides to add in her own words. “I know I was a bit lacking as a leader, but thank you all for helping me, wherever I needed help,“ she started, thinking especially of the choreography. “I really had fun preparing for this performance, even if it wasn’t always easy. I know we’ll do well!”
And just like that, the focus is back on the stage where Luda sits by herself in a chair. The choreography is very beautifully done, not too hard but also not too simple. It’s interesting to see when they’re paired up in couples, Hyunjin’s face serious for the performance and managing to make eye contact with the camera. Even if the chosen song was a bit surprising, they finished their performance well.
Team D goes up next. Choi Yoojung, Kim Yongsun, Kim Donghyun, Choi Youngjae and Lee Sungyeol stand on the stage, waving at the public before introducing themselves. “Hello, we are team Desolate!” They each get a short moment of personal appeal before moving to their designated spot. The screen wobbles and changes the focus back to their first meeting.
Out of process of elimination, and the boys not really wanting to be leader, Yoojung takes the leader role for the week. While she looked nervous about it at first, once the deed is done, the girl appears to calm herself down. Since the group is very vocal-heavy, the team decides to pick songs to reflect this quality, going with “Empty” and “I’m Bad”. Sungyeol and Youngjae offer their skills to make the mashup themselves and, just as promised, they deliver the final product. Yongsun seems to be impressed by it, nodding to the music as she listens to it.
The choreography turns out to be simple, and Yoojung teaches the rest of her teammates how to do it correctly. They seem to follow her well, even if the girl is barely shown speaking. Even Donghyun, who mostly keeps to himself, decides to say a few words during their final practice. “You know what I think?” Donghyun says aloud at the end of their last day of practice before the show. A large grin is seen on his face despite the sweat shining on his brow. “We’re going to get first place and make it through to next week. We’ve done good this week and it’s been an honour working with you and tomorrow we’re going to completely smash it.”
The day of the performance arrives once again, and Sungyeol starts it off with his lines. The song seems to pass by quickly, and the dancing is simple enough for everyone to do their part. Donghyun finishes it off and, before you know it, they depart the stage to make ready for the next group’s arrival.
Next up is Team E, formed by Kim Hyuna, Seo Soojin, Kim Jonghyun, Minatozaki Sana and Jeon Wonwoo. They introduce themselves as team Bangchi, a mashup of the names from their chosen song’s artists. After a moment of individual appeal, they move over to their initial poses of lying down on the floor. The scene then transitions smoothly into showing them on the floor but, this time, in their practice room.
Right away, Soojin suggests Sana as the leader, and everyone seems to agree. The girl had been yearning for the title and finally managed to get it. After a few deep breaths, she lets her team know of her intentions with watery eyes. “I promise I won’t let you down.” However, choosing a song didn’t seem to go so easily. Each suggestion came with different criticism, a quick montage showing the team struggle. They eventually find a mix of ‘You Think’ and ‘I Need U’, which the team eventually agrees on being their best option.
Mentions of Hyuna’s condition start to arise, and as the camera focuses on the woman sitting on the floor, the scene cuts into a quick flashback. She’s leaving the stage after performing with her previous team when she trips on the very last step. People exhale in worry, and then she’s shown sitting with an ice pack on her ankle. The flashback quickly ends, and Jonghyun and Wonwoo take on the role of working with the choreography while Hyuna rests.
Sana approaches Wonwoo one day, holding a box of cupcakes in her hands. “I didn’t make them, they’re just store bought.” The girl quickly adds in before revealing it’s actually a belated birthday gift to the other, a quick cut of his profile showing it had simply passed by the previous week without anyone noticing. “You really didn’t have to do this,” Wonwoo says to her, and Sana shrugs. “No, I didn’t, but I wanted to,” He seems to be thankful, and that small action is enough to brighten up the room a little.
On the third day, Hyuna gets rid of her cast and is ready to start practicing. However, the injury still seems to be a big wall stopping her from succeeding. The woman constantly asks for breaks and continues to limp when she isn’t dancing. Even when she’s alone in the practice room she continues to practice over and over again, not letting her injury stop her no more. The limp is still there, but at least she manages to complete the dance routine.
Jonghyun watches over everyone as they dance, nodding and clapping his hands when they’re done with their final practice. Soojin walks towards a camera before leaving, making a series of silly faces before leaving her last remark. “I don’t know if this will make it into the final cut but….” She raised both of her hands and turned them into fists. “Team Bangchi fighting!” The girl giggles and finally leaves the room in a rush, bringing an end to their practice.
They’re back on the floor, and the choreography starts simple as the song begins. The choreography is a nice mix of the two original ones and even Hyuna, who had to hold back during practice, manages to do it well. When it’s Soojin’s turn, she says ‘ha!’ and kicks her foot towards the camera which quickly zooms out of the performance in perfect timing. Her hand reaches for her hair and she removes the ribbon holding it, setting the strands free as the girl sings all of her lines. Wonwoo and Sana also get a moment in the spotlight, getting to do a quick session of the couple dance before it’s her turn to sing. The performance eventually comes to an end, and the audience cheers before they leave.
Team F is next, composed of Min Yoongi, Park Kyungri, Kim Chungha, Kim Mingyu and Kang Daniel. “We’re your dream! Hello, we’re One Night!” They keep their individual introductions simple and move over to their starting points. There’s a chair for each of them, and just when they settle down on their designated seat, the scene goes back to their first meeting.
Out of the two eligible to become the leader, none of them seems to want to do it. Everyone else had been a leader before except for Daniel and Mingyu. The first one tries to be cheeky and suggests maybe they could decide it with a round of ‘rock, paper, scissors’. Kyungri chuckles, but the team settles on a vote, and Mingyu ends up taking it. Daniel’s role doesn’t end there, though, as both him and Yoongi team up to create the mashup between “Just One Day” and “Why So Lonely”.
Yoongi seems to have returned to his awkward self, quickly working on the song with Daniel by his side. The younger, however, seems to always have a smile up on his face and shares his chippery thoughts. “I think it’s kinda cool…honestly I wanted to do something like this the whole show so I’m glad we get to do it together!” He stares happily at Yoongi, and the latter’s reply is a stiff pat on the shoulder which is something impressive (and expressive) enough coming from Yoongi.
Leaving the happy thoughts behind, the camera focuses on the leader as he decides to call someone. The voice on the other side is that of a woman, and a text on the bottom of the screen confirms that it is his mother. “Mingyu? Are you okay, is something wrong?” The boy quickly reassures it is nothing like that, but that something is bugging him. “Well… I’m supposed to be the leader this week. But I never was much of a leader. I don’t know if I’ll do well. If they fail, that’ll be on me, right?” His mother, however, strongly disagrees. “No, Mingyu… You don’t give yourself enough credit. You genuinely care about people and want to see them succeed. That’s a great quality for a leader to have. You don’t want to step on others in order to get yourself closer to the top… you’re a good boy and I think people see that. I think the fact that you’re worrying over being the possible cause of someone else’s failure kind of proves that you’d lead just fine.” He chews on his lower lip and remains silent for a moment before ending the conversation. “Have I told you recently that you’re the best mother a guy could ask for?” ”I love you.”“I love you, too, Mingyu.”
Later on, the team sits down to have a snack together, and after they’ve finished eating Daniel approaches his leader with interest. “So, which rap part is your favorite?” The younger points out the rap from ‘Why So Lonely’ and Daniel replies to him in all seriousness. “I can rap that.” He manages the first line, but anything past that is pure gibberish with only a bit of sense of rhythm. Mingyu offers to teach him the rap, but the older eventually just tells him he’s better at it.
The scene goes back to their stage, and they’re all sitting down waiting for the song to start. It’s a soft song, and their performance tells a story as well. The boys sing about their earning for the girls, while they all refuse their love. With a mix of using chairs for the dance and not, the song slowly walks towards its end. They all sit down again, with Mingyu in the center, as the two couples on either side hold each other’s hands.
Showing as the last group of the week is Team G. They’re Kim Hyunjung, Jung Jinsoul, Dong Sicheng, Lai Guanlin and Kim Taehyung. “Hello! We’re team Go Go Bop!” They greet the audience and then introduce themselves individually. Once they’re done, the members move to their starting positions, just in time for the scene to change.
They’re sitting on the floor, and while the choice of leader is a bit more diverse in this team, the title ends up landing eventually on Jinsoul. She seems to be a bit in shock at the start, but her skills as a leader would soon be proven as good. Their chosen mashup is a mix between “Ko Ko Bop” and “Shangri-la” which is a rather interesting composition. To their luck, Sicheng states he is familiar with traditional dancing, and so they’re able to integrate the beautiful aspects of the original song into their performance as well. Just like that, the boy is set in charge of the choreography.
Without having to wait for anyone to make the mashup, the group quickly jumps into learning the different areas of their performance. The two songs have vastly different styles, but they manage to make the dance transitions into something smooth. Hyunjung helps Guanlin with his moves, the boy still obviously struggling with the skill, but maybe a little bit less this time around. “People can see when you’re thinking about what step to do next,” she says. “Try and forget about the steps for a few moments, and focus more on how you feel.”
Carrying the burden of the leader, Jinsoul spends extra time practicing by herself. A quick montage shows the girl trying out different moves of the choreography, including her practicing how to open the fan. Her vocal practice is cut into short sections, making it a bit funny to watch. When she finally takes a break, surrounded by her notes, the girl stares at the camera as if she had forgotten about it. “Hello. Right now it’s…” When she checks the time she realizes how late it is. “Oh my gosh, I have to go home and shower and, ah, I have to leave for school in a few hours.” She still prefers to practice one more time before leaving, returning the next day with her uniform on. There is no time to waste; even being so young, Jinsoul knows that.
They’re back on the stage, and the song begins to play its interesting tune. Thanks to Sicheng and Hyunjung’s help, the group manages to pass by the dance portion without much struggle as expected. Her extra practice proves to be useful when Jinsoul performs her higher notes without showing a drop of worry on her expression. At last, the music and performance comes to a graceful end.
All teams are finished and, each week, the number of contestants gets smaller and smaller. This week, it isn’t any different. So Jiseob picks up his microphone, ready to announce the positions of each group for this episode. “You’ve all worked hard this week, and we got to watch a series of very interesting performances. It is time, now, to announce the rank for this week.” He pauses for a moment, but there is no audience anymore to give reactions.
“I’ll start by announcing the third place.” The screen shows the face of all the leaders standing in front of their members, impatiently waiting for the results to be announced. “The team to finish in third this week is… Team C. Even if you chose a calmer song, which isn’t normally what’s expected when you hear the word ‘mashup’, I think you did a great delivery of it. Your dancing was also very expressive, even if I know some of the members aren’t normally good at it. Congratulations on your third place. All of you will continue with us next week.”
Katie Lee is the one speaking next, scanning the contestants with a sharp look in her eyes. “The two teams who got the top spots performed with different themes, but each showed a strong presence on stage. The team in second place today is… Team G. The song choices were very interesting, and the members surprisingly worked well together. I really enjoyed that you mostly focused on the traditional side of the mashup by using the fans. It was a very captivating performance and you deserve the spot. Congratulations.”
The top spot is next, and Tiger JK is the one who delivers the honors for this episode. “There are five teams left but only one can be the winner… I believe they played it safe, but they had the skills to make it memorable.” He moves the microphone away from his mouth while looking down at his cheat sheet before announcing the winner of the week. “The team who ranked first this week is… Team E. The song you chose, I think, is what is very expected of a mashup, and it requires a lot of charisma and skill to deliver a memorable stage like that. You kept most of the choreography true to the originals, yet we really enjoyed the pieces of original content you put in there. Congratulations on being the winners of today, and good fortune on future episodes.”
Hyun Bin goes next, twisting his head to one side. “There’s still four teams left, and some of you will have to go home.” The man stares down at the contestants remaining on the stage, his eyes cold with knowledge. “I’ll start by announcing the team in fourth, which was once a cherished spot, wasn’t it?” He chuckles, but only the judges seem to find amusement in it. “The team who finished in fourth this week is… Team A. Your choice was definitely interesting, but, as a performance, it didn’t have much of a flair. You have a lot of talented people, which is a shame if one of you were to go home… which is why you’re all safe for the week. Congratulations on your fourth spot. You all get to stay.”
The cameras show the reactions and expressions of the contestants, but there isn’t much time to make a fuss. Baek Jiyoung goes next, her smile being a bit difficult to decipher. “The team in the fifth place is… Team B. You chose a good song, though we believed the best part of it was the ending, which is a bad thing to think about. Both of the songs are very strong, and I think we would have preferred it if it were a strong performance like the originals. If this was a composition challenge, however, I’m sure you’d all have done great. Unfortunately, someone will have to go home. The first person to leave us today is… Choi Minho. It’s unfortunate that you were amidst so many other talented performers. Your skill still has a lot of room to grow, and hopefully you’ll continue to polish it even when you aren’t here.”
If anyone had thoughts that maybe this would be a free week they were proven wrong when So Jiseob takes his microphone again, ready to finish what he had started. “Only one team can be in last, but I think it’ll give just as big of an impact on both of you. After a lot of discussion, the last two of you are Team D and Team F.” The man lets the silence settle a bit, the camera showing the faces of the leaders before focusing back on him. “The team in last place for the week is… Team D. Your performance was, dare I say, a bit boring. You’re all talented, but this is a competition and what you showed on stage wasn’t something too memorable. Unfortunately, that was only emphasized more as you performed right before Team E, who ended up winning today.”
“As for Team F, I think it’s a shame, really, that you’re down here. The songs are great, but, again, when you put it in a competition like this it’s really not good enough. There were other performances with softer songs like yours, yet they managed to implement new aspects into those performances that made it more interesting. That’s why both you and Team D were in last.” The man stops for a second to let the criticism sink in. They are called judges for a reason, after all. “Some of you will have to leave us today. The second person to leave the competition for this week is… Min Yoongi. You seem to be a good dancer, and a good rapper as well, and that is why you survived this far. When you stand next to your teammates, however, your impact completely disappears. You lack the charisma, I believe, as well as the confidence you need to win.”
Jiseob eyes the last team, suddenly regretting choosing to talk this much. “As for Team D, the person to leave us today is… Kim Donghyun. Your voice is very good, but I think that’s honestly it. We watch the behind the scenes videos as well, and if someone asked my opinion about Kim Donghyun I would have to reply with ‘who?’. Whether we like it or not, this industry also involves people’s personalities, so we can’t keep saving you for your voice. There are better singers in this competition who also have a better attitude relating to the idol life.” His eyes then move only slightly, eyeing someone else in his team. “We don’t stop there, however, because someone else from Team D is leaving us tonight, and that person is… Choi Youngjae. As stated before, only having a good voice isn’t enough to be here. From what we get to observe, it looks like you’re doing just enough to pass by, and isn’t exactly the best attitude to have. We’re not saying you didn’t work hard, of course, but people can study all night and still do badly on the exam, which is what ended up happening here. Hopefully, you’ll find a better way to ‘study’, and then maybe we’ll get to hear from you again.”
The CEO sits back on his chair, setting down the microphone on top of his table before staring at Katie Lee so that she could finish up the show. The eliminations are over, and the only thing left to do is to keep going.

And now, let’s see what’s in store for our sixth episode!
Next week, the MGAs are to continue on with the team challenges. However, all contestants have been assorted into new groups. You may find yourself next to known faces or someone you’ve never talked to before, but you must still work hard to deliver a worthy performance in under a week. The teams for this episode and the companies they’ll practice at are as seen below:
TEAM A — ROYAL BUILDING #4003 — Kim Junmyeon #4010 — Joo Haknyeon #4012 — Kim Yongsun #4033 — Lee Luda #4039 — Minatozaki Sana #4042 — Hwang Hyunjin
TEAM B — KT BUILDING #4004 — Kim Doyeon #4005 — Jin Longguo #4007 — Choi Yoojung #4027 — Jung Jinsoul #4036 — Kim Jonghyun #4049 — Kim Mingyu
TEAM C — TRC BUILDING #4008 — Kim Hyuna #4011 — Kim Jinhee #4030 — Lee Sungyeol #4034 — Lai Guanlin #4050 — Kang Daniel #4052 — Bae Joohyun
TEAM D — NOVA BUILDING #4009 — Kim Bora #4023 — Park Kyungri #4024 — Seo Soojin #4025 — Kim Hyunjung #4032 — Moon Bin #4048 — Ha Sungwoon
TEAM E — SPHERE BUILDING #4018 — Jeon Somi #4029 — Dong Sicheng #4037 — Kim Taehyung #4040 — Kim Chungha #4044 — Koo Junhoe #4046 — Jeon Wonwoo
For the fourth round of team challenges, the theme of the week is something everyone has been seeing all around. The sun is bright and so every stage should be; this time, all the focus is on the summertime! Members are to group together and pick a song of their liking and that they think will also capture the public’s attention. The song should capture all of the good feelings of summer and pass it on to the audience.
Just like last time, all of the members from the team ranked as first will be safe from elimination, but other groups may not have the same good fortune. The live audience will have the same number of 1000 people to watch and judge every performance, but no voting will take place or impact the results. The filming location will be the same as before.
The leader system will remain for this week, as well. Members are to elect a leader among themselves who will be the focus of guiding the team through preparations and the stage itself. The leader should be someone who will be able to help others and be looked up to. After being picked, a change of leader will only be able to happen by unanimous vote. However, no contestant who was a leader previously may become a leader again. Together, all members should come up with a team name that will represent them during this week. With unity being more important than ever, we hope to see our contestants growing closer than ever — or maybe they’ll keep everything as professional as possible.
However, the events of next week are not done being announced. To all of those who were eliminated up to this point: don’t lose your hope. We present to you the Wild Cards! On Friday morning, while everyone else is doing their sound check, the CEOs will be heading to the set of the second episode with the small circular stage at the center. Any contestant who was eliminated in a previous episode may try their chance at a new spot on the show. They’ll have 48 hours starting when this episode airs to confirm their presence at the Wild Cards stage on Friday to be aired along with the summertime episode on Sunday. Each returning contestant has a maximum of 2 minutes to showcase their skills. The theme for them, however, is to show their bettered self — one that is worthy of being on stage again. Who will make it back?
Tune in next Sunday, the 5th, for our sixth episode!
MGA Season 4 episode six preview: Contestants have the week to enjoy the summertime, but it is it truly certain that no fights will break out between them? The unexpected twist: who from your favorite eliminated contestants will return to the show? Who will be eliminated with no longer a chance of return? Tune in next week to find out!
SURPRISE! On Wednesday, the staff will hand a small camera to one of the contestants, announcing this is their chance to appeal to the public. They may do whatever they want with it: you many show what you’re practicing on, simply present yourself again or maybe even break under pressure and stare in silence.
Each member has 2 minutes with the camera, and should work as a camera relay. They don’t need to film themselves and may choose to pass the camera over before their time is done, but the time for each member continues to be 2 minutes for each. This surprise self-camera session won’t necessary make it into the episode, but may be posted on the MGA official website as bonus content.
[ All teams had their introduction and performance aired. Any other part only made it to the final cut if it was mentioned in this post. Contestants have until 5PM EST of Sunday, the 5th, to post their 200+ words solos about their performance of this fifth round of the team challenges. That’s at 5PM not midnight. Please tag all related posts with #rkmga4 and #rkmga4summer. Song choices should be submitted to the rkevent inbox as well as the chosen leader. Two teams performing the same song will not be allowed and this will be chosen on a first come first serve basis.
The camera relay posts should be up until 9PM EST of Wednesday, the 1st. The post should be 200+ words long and describe what they did while holding the camera. If they did something while someone else was holding the camera it can be included as well in the solo. This is bonus content and won’t impact in any way the results of the episode. Wild Cards may not take part in this. Please tag all related posts with #rkmga4 and #rkmga4relay. After the post is up, feel free to add +1 CHARISMA to your points sheet! Please link this post as verification.
Wild Cards have until 5PM EST of Sunday, the 5th, to post their 200+ words solos about their performance at their special stage. That’s at 5PM not midnight. Please tag all related posts with #rkmga4 and #rkmga4wildcard.
When at their designated company’s building, contestants should not interact with any trainees and should mostly keep themselves inside the practice room except for meals or bathroom breaks. This time around, muses not part of the MGAs may be part of the live audience. More information about this will come in a future post.
Any group chat made as a way for the muns of the contestants to interact with each other for this mission should have Mod Bianca and Mod Mira (@luvseungjoon and @allevicte on twitter) added to it. They will be there to monitor everything, but any questions should be sent to the rkevent inbox in case someone else had the same question and so it won’t be seen as an advantage to your group.
To award everyone for making it this far, feel free to add +1 CHARISMA and +1 SHOWCASED SKILL to your points sheet! This includes members eliminated on this episode. Please link this post as verification. ]

I Thought We Already Weren’t PART 3 (Peter Parker x Reader Angst)
Request: anonymous asked: Ooh I love angst!! Can you do something where the reader has a huge crush on peter but he likes Liz and he asks her out on date and he asks the reader for help with everything so she basically plans the whole thing for him and he keeps saying things like “wow ur such a good friend” and out of jealousy she asks Flash on a date and they start to go out and Peter says he’s not good enough for her and they get into a huge argument and deicde it’s better if they stop being friends…
Word Count: 1,772
Warnings: angst... lot’s of it
A/N: So wow i gotta admit this one’s gotta be the saddest i think out of all the parts haha sorry (not sorry) and hey, if you want, it hurts more if you listen to ‘Amnesia’ by 5SOS (just a thought, if you’re into feeling rly sad whilst reading this). But wow thanks so much to all those who’re enjoying this request-oneshot-turned-series! I’m soooooo glad you guys are loving it cuz i’m having such a ball writing it! ❤️❤️ So anyway I think I’m gonna be doing one last part after this, cuz i have such a great way of ending it, i think but more on that later ;} (also i didn’t edit or proofread this really so sorry for grammar lol)
again, anon, if you’re out there THANK YOU for this request ❤️❤️
Part 1 Part 2 Part 4
“Helloooo? Earth to Peter…” Liz summoned Peter from his deep thoughts about what Flash could possibly try to do tonight to ‘wow you’. He jerked his head toward her, off his propped up forearm.
“Sorry,” he stammered. “What were you saying again?”
“I was just asking what you got for number four ‘cause my equation looks different from yours…” Liz looked at him with concern. “Are you okay?” she whispered.
“Hm? Yeah yeah, no yeah I’m good,” he squeaked. Crap he thought.
“Are you sure, Peter? Because you’ve been—”
“Liz, I’m fine,” he snapped. She withdrew a little, eyebrows still furrowed with worry. Peter immediately regretted speaking so sharply; he knew she was only worried and wasn’t trying to be annoying. But every time he was with her he felt guilty. He would spend the entire time in her company trying to force himself to not feel that way, or at least figure out why; but he just couldn’t.
“Okay, come on,” she grabbed ahold of Peter’s wrist firmly and led them away from their library table.
“What—where’re we going?”
Liz led them up the stairs, through the science wing, up the narrow fire escape stairway, until they finally hit open air. She leaned back on an AC unit, and even though her arms were crossed, her face was soft and expectant.
“Look, I know I’m not supposed to push and stuff if you don’t want to tell me what’s going on,” she began. “But, Peter, you gotta give me something! You have to talk to me.”
“W—What?” he stammered. “We are talking, what do you mean I don’t want to tell you what’s going on? Nothing’s going on…”
Liz cocked her head at him, “Nothing going on? Peter, you haven’t been yourself lately, and it’s making me kinda worried.”
Peter hung his head. The last time he had a conversation about him not being himself still stung potent in his mind. The last thing he wanted now was for this discussion to end up like the last one.
“I’m sorry I haven’t been myself lately,” he pleaded. “I just… honestly just… I… I don’t know what’s going on with me, like I’m trying to figure it out but I just can’t and—” Peter faltered when he saw Liz’s eyes. The worry was hidden behind a deep sadness that he didn’t even know could be seen through someone’s eyes. “What?” he shakily asked.
“I know what’s going on with you, Peter,” Liz whispered. “And I think you know it too, but you don’t want to admit it. God, this sucks,” she muttered. She glanced up, blinking rapidly, trying to put back the tears that were forming against her will. “But that’s what makes you all the more so… so… so good and this so fucking hard.”
Peter couldn’t even speak. He could feel his old friend, guilt, clawing up his stomach and latching onto his chest. He knew what was coming, and he knew why, but he didn’t want to believe it. Part of him wanted what was coming too, but not like this. No, this was going to hurt too much.
Liz took a shaky breath, “I know you haven’t been hanging around Ned and (Y/N) as much. I know you and (Y/N), had like this… this falling out kinda thing. I know you haven’t been the same since that. I know you see me differently now, even though you try so hard to fight against it and not show it, and for that, Peter, thank you. Because I know that that’s so hard to do.
“But I also know how you look at her—don’t feel guilty; you can’t help it. You know you can’t keep a secret to save your life. It’s also just one of those things no one can help or hide. I’ve seen the way you look at her, Peter. It’s okay,” she uncrossed her arms and gripped Peter’s shoulders. His eyes were welling up as well, no matter how hard he clenched his throat or bit his lip. “That way you look at her, Peter? You used to look at me just like that, when you thought I wouldn’t notice. Well, there was less sadness in your eyes then, but considering all things now…”
Peter regretted that what she was saying was true. It was every little thing that had gone through his mind these past couple weeks, but refused to truly believe. He wished it didn’t have to be like this. There had to have been some other way this could’ve played out where no one was crying, where no one was regretting anything.
The only thing he could muster out was a small, “I’m sorry…”
Liz pulled him into a hug. For the first time in weeks, this one didn’t feel empty. Peter didn’t feel distant or like he wanted it to be over so it wouldn’t feel awkward. This was a hug he didn’t want to step away from because it felt real.
“I know,” she whispered. “But I don’t want to be part of the reason you’re not happy.” They stood there, softly holding each other for what they knew was probably the last time. “I just regret not asking sooner. I can’t imagine what it must be like, carrying that around with you all this time…”
“You don’t deserve this,” Peter mumbled into her hair. He felt her exhale a chuckle.
“Yeah, but,” she pulled away, looking down, “life isn’t really about deserving, is it?”
Peter echoed her movements, anxiously twiddling his fingers as Liz began to walk back to the exit.
“Just promise me, you guys’ll both figure it out, okay?” she called back. Peter looked up at her, forcing himself to nod. Liz’s lips pursed into a bittersweet smile, and she turned and shut the door behind her, leaving a physically, mentally, and emotionally numb Peter.
Sightings of Spiderman had doubled within these last few weeks, and the crime rate dropping by nearly the same amount. Many were applauding his productivity, wondering how Queen’s local hero had become so efficient and driven lately.
But you and Ned knew why. It was his distraction. Like those Flash dates had been for you. At least Peter’s was more constant and fulfilling than just your two hours every week.
It wasn’t like the hot air balloon lunch upstate wasn’t completely distracting, or the early screening of some new movie Flash was into (seriously impressive, you had to admit). They worked, but just for a short while. And once you really thought about it, you found that you felt worse afterward than you did before. You were just reminded of how you were trying oh so hard to forget the main reason you were doing those dates in the first place. It was like how you try so hard to forget something that you end up having it come to mind more.
Once Peter and Liz ended things, it didn’t stop your pain. But it did make you realize what you were doing was pointless. So you ended it. Not like Flash cared much anyway. But why make Peter suffer anymore than he was already. He didn’t need the weight of seeing you with Flash, added on to his guilt and sadness from Liz, crushing him more.
“So what do you wanna watch now?” Ned asked, scrolling through the menu.
“I’m cool with anything really.”
As he selected ‘Ferris Buller’s Day Off’, he passed you the popcorn bowl. “So… have you talked to Peter yet?” he tried to ask lightly and casually.
You sighed, “You know I haven’t.”
Ned turned to you, his voice dropping into a more serious tone. “I think it’s about time you guys face this head on, you know? Confront it. Confront him. Well maybe not confront him, but at least talk to him—”
“Honestly, Ned, I think I’m just gonna feel a whole lot shittier if I do that.”
“Well I can’t keep being the mediator between you two! Honestly I always feel like I have to evenly split my time between you two, running from one end of school to the other just to hang with my two best friends, who don’t even want to talk to each other!”
“You know you don’t have to do that, Ned.”
“I know but I do anyway. ‘Cause I love you guys and if I can do anything to help you guys be happy, I will! So, that’s why I’m saying you guys need to talk.”
“I don’t even know if he’s ready, you know? To talk? I mean it’s only been like what? Two weeks since, you know... That’s not that long—”
“Pretty sure he is now.”
“‘Pretty sure’?”
Ned glanced up from his phone. “Almost positive,” he assured.
You stared at the floor, contemplating whether it was worth it to or not to reopen that wound. You knew you both knew that you had hurt the other. What you didn’t know was whether you were ready to admit why. Why you were hurt in the first place, why you hurt him in return.
Suddenly the bed lurched as Ned leapt off of it, jerking you out of your head. “Sorry, I uh—,” he stumbled to shove his feet back in his shoes. “—I gotta go, I just remembered my mom set a new curfew, so… yeah.”
“What?” your brows furrowed. “Since when?”
“Since now, apparently?”
“What?”
“Sorry, (Y/N)! Enjoy Ferris Buller without me, I’ll see you Monday!” he sped out your door.
“Okay…? Bye?”
As your front door slammed shut with a loud BANG, you pulled out your phone and texted Ned to let you know when he got home. Reading the clock’s display of 10:41, you found it odd that Ned would suddenly barge out like that. You figured you could interrogate him on it back in school, so you laid back and started to scroll through your phone. As early as it was, you found yourself dozing off. Your eyes had just fluttered closed when—
*tap tap tap*
You bolted up, eyelids heavy, not sure if you had really heard it. Grabbing the remote, you shut the TV and listened again. Nothing. Beside you, your phone buzzed and you read Ned’s message.
You up still? it read.
Yeah why???? you replied.
No later had you hit the send button did you hear the window tapping again. You were sure it was real this time, and your body automatically responded faster than your mind did. Throwing the curtains back and raising the window, your heart beat up to your brain. You had no idea where this was going to take you. As you saw those fluffy brown curls amongst the scarlet and blue, your breath caught.
“Hey.”

Hey, love ur writing btw. could you do a spencerxreader where the reader is a surgeon who is like basically the teams doctor because they always end up getting hurt and then derek and garcia see them in the hospital and come up with a plan or something heheh. Thanks!
The Doctors
Contains; Fluff!
((Omg It's so late and I'm still slowly working on a part 4. I just got done with so many things but considering May is the busiest time for me I still have a long way to go. I may edit this later on when I'm not so pressed to write a fic.))
-
(Spencer's POV)
Spencer returned to his desk with a happy face, holding a warm cup of to-go coffee. He almost to eagerly started on his paperwork which wouldn't seem out of the ordinary to anyone who knew the young doctor, but this time, he was humming.
"What's got you all excited?" Morgan asked before scanning his friend up and down. He smiled slyly, setting his pen down to interlace his fingers together. "Let me guess, you paid a visit to our dear Dr. Y/l/n?" The slight twitch of Spencer's lips gave the SSA all he needed to know.
The poor boy genius had been in love with you for awhile now but preferred not to admit it. Maybe it was because it might be considered strange or because he was afraid you didn't feel the same way. Either way, his attraction for you always seemed to increase with each passing day.
"What's up my two beautiful stallions?" Penelope waltzed her way into the conversation. "Pretty boy here is still pining after Y/n." Morgan supplied and the blonde sighed and shook her head.
"Life is too short to hide behind these insecurities, you of all people should know that." She groaned. Bothered by the teasing, Spencer turned his attention back to the files, flipping thought them sheepishly.
"She obviously likes you!" Penelope told him, even if he was pretending not to pay attention. "And you visit her practically everyday! Sometimes I think you act reckless on cases on purpose just so you can see her." She jumped aback when Spencer gasped painfully. The tip of his finger was bleeding slowly. "This is exactly what I'm talking about. Am I just supposed to believe you have a paper-cut?" Spencer stared at her, trying to hold his tongue. "Fine, I get it. You are bleeding after all. Dang, you're committed."
"Do you think I should go back?" He asked, eyes wide at the possibility of seeing you for the second time that day. Both of his friends shared a look before shaking heir heads and chuckling. Spencer frowned.
"What do you expect pretty boy? She's a surgeon. She deals with more serious injuries than lousy paper-cut. You're lucky enough she gives you those band-aids." Morgan pointed to the multi-colored wrappings that covered his fingers, covering the paper-cuts from sorting though different files and books.
"Maybe I should break my leg. It seemed to work well when I got shot." Memories of the two of you hanging out together flooded his mind and the corners of his mouth raised slightly to smile.
"Don't break your leg." Morgan looked at his friend to find a dejected look was etched upon it. "Maybe I could punch you in the face?" He weakly tried.
"Alright, do it." Spencer sighed dejectedly. Penelope's eyebrows furrowed and when Derek stood up and started cracking his knuckles, she scoffed. "You're not really going to punch him are you?"
"I have no other way to talk to her!"
"Just tell her the truth! You like her! You wanna date her!" She sighed exasperatedly. Gosh, men. She got even more annoyed when Morgan burst out loud laughing at Spencer's bugged out eyes and furious side to side head-shaking.
"Babydoll you've been with us for so many years yet you still no nothing about the way men think." Morgan chuckled, turning to talk to Spencer about the type of cut he was going to give him. "-so you'll bruise pretty badly but everything should be fine." He placed his left hand on Spencer's shoulder to steady him and started to reel his arm back, Penelope's heels clicking indicating that she left the room before....
-(Your POV)
"This is the third time you've come in this week and it's only Wednesday!" You mumbled softly, patting Spencer's newly busted lip and cheek with a wet cloth, carefully to try and not disturb the forming bruise. "You say Morgan did this to you?" You asked, pulling away
He coughed softly, voice hoarse as he answered back. "Uh yeah, during training. It was my fault, I didn't block in time." He stuttered out as you pressed a cotton-ball against the cut on his cheekbones, hand pressing on his knee. You were oblivious with his reaction, thinking it was because you were touching part of the bruise on his face.
You sighed softly, a small frown etched on your face. If you weren't uncomfortable with confrontation you would repay the favor of messing up a handsome face.
Sometimes a silly part of you wondered if Spencer just made up all these ridiculous injures to come and see you, but logically, you figured that was impossible. Spencer Reid was a man who believed in facts. He was cute, funny and extremely intelligent. He was surrounded by gruesome deaths and disgusting criminals everyday, and he would probably be interested in someone pure and good. Not someone who had to deal with the sick and close to death, essentially, almost the same torture he had to face.
"...Y/n?" You blinked a few times, reality coming back to you. You apparently zoned out. You became hyper-aware of everything, your hand on his knee, the other on his cheek and took a step back. "Ah sorry..." you chuckled awkwardly.
You picked up a small circular Band-Aid, chuckling as you started to unwrap it. "Purple, your lucky day." You lifted his chin with your finger and gently patted the small bandage in his face. He winced and a small look of pity crossed your face. "Too bad I can't put a bandage on that scar." You eyed his lips, perfectly chapped, a delightful pink.... you realized you were staring again and met his eyes, which had been looking at you.
"You know...eyes dilate based on attraction...." He whispered, your eyes flicking from his lips to his eyes and you watched as he started to lean in, his hand resting on the hand you placed on the space next to him.
You were so close. You could feel his warm breath on your cheek, his hand coming to touch your waist. Your bottom lip was just a millisecond away from meeting his when the door slammed open and you both split apart. It was your coworker, ho stared at you both suspiciously.
As if spell had been broken you backed away, burying your nose into a random file. "Thanks for stopping by Dr., if it gets worse feel free to return." Your cheeks were burning, and you peered at him from the top of the folder. His cheeks were red too and on his way out he scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
Did he? Were you...about to kiss him? No, no, no, no, he didn't feel that way about you. He just came to you for medical advice and to be repaired. A few jokes and light touching was the product of most of your time together. So you should probably just forget it, right?
-(Spencer's POV)
"What's wrong with you?" Morgan asked a few days later watching as Spencer seemed quiet and separated from everyone and everything. Garcia sat on Morgan's desk, a cup of coffee on her hands.
"She's been avoiding me." Spencer mumbled, resting his head on his knuckles, and sighing. He had explained what happened between the two of you, making sure to deny that you in no way had feelings for him because you were so sweet, wild in your own way and just a lovely person to be around, not to mention beautiful, and Spencer was a nerd, surrounded by death.
Penelope and Derek shared an equally annoyed look, an unspoken agreement between the two forming. They had to do something about this and soon. Maybe their ideas weren't always the best but hey, something at this point, was better than nothing. Which was ridiculous considering you were both highly educated people (doctors) and the way you felt about the other was so obvious that you didn't even need a PhD to see it.
(Your POV)
You ran to where Morgan had texted you a "Reid-SOS" while trying to stay calm. Usually this meant that he had either gotten seriously injured or shot but you couldn't help the feeling of your heart dropping to the pit of your stomach. Not only was this text concerning, as always, but even Emily had started texting you the same things.
Images of his seeing his body injured on your table made you freak out, and you knew that if you ever saw him again you wouldn't go chicken about your feelings for him. As the lights grew brighter and sounds increased to be practically deafening, your heart beat erratically inside your chest. You saw a familiar person and you practically flew.
"Spencer!" You cried, disbelief as your eyes landed on his standing figure looking healthy and fine. Without any thought you ran over to him and wrapped your arms around him tightly. As soon as your eyes met his, you pressed your lips against his. He stumbled back a bit but his hands came to cup your face, deepening the kiss. When you pulled away, his lips were soft and pillowy, eyes dazed and a few million hairs out of place.
"Derek and Penelope kept sending me 911 texts about you and I was so worried, I thought you were in critical condition or shot or..." Spencer cut off your mumbling with another kiss. The irony tasted so sweet but the thought quickly drew out of your mind as you kissed back.
"Wait,' you pulled away again. "Why are you okay? I mean, I'm glad but I almost had a heart attack." You both turned to a sound of loud chuckles and cackles which belonged to Penelope and Derek.
"You two were never going to own up to your feelings anyway!" Morgan tried justifying. You moved to go after him when Spencer gently tugged your arm, making you turn back to him.
"Ah, how about you beat him up later and we try to go out tomorrow?" He suggested weakly, somehow afraid you were still going to reject him even though you had just kissed him twice.
"That sounds perfect." You smiled softly as your thumb came up to rub the part of his healing cheek that was still covered in the small bandage and moved to kiss him again.

yellin’ at songs, week 26
capsule reviews of the songs which debuted on the 7 July 2017 and 8 July 2017 editions of the billboard hot 100
7.7.2007
61) "Lost," Faith Hill
"With everything I have doesn't mean a thing if it's without you." I. Don't know what that means? I could stare at some of these lyrics and not really understand what's happening other than I'm supposed to believe in love and all its power, which is probably the most we can expect out of a late-career Faith Hill song. It's not great, but, y'know, just as I feel weird about trying to assess Fifth Harmony songs, I feel like Faith Hill songs are reaching for that Aunt With Too Many Inspirational Quote Pillows demographic, and I have to respect the choice she had made to service this demographic. This was someone's third wedding song, and I think that's beautiful. (Also, credit where credit's due, Kara DioGuardi co-wrote a song I tolerated.)
65) "Never Wanted Nothing More," Kenny Chesney
This is a weird one. Because it's Kenny Chesney, but it's also Chris Stapleton, but it's also Chris Stapleton writing a Kenny Chesney song. It's complicated. Like, you look at Kanye West's early discography, you see names you know, Jermaine Dupri, Goodie Mob, Lil' Kim, Nas, Alicia Keys, you see respectable names, you can see how the songs Kanye produced would fit into the greater Kanye catalogue. There's a difference, of course, between production and writing, but early Kanye doesn't feel like producer-for-hire. This song is written so outside the voice I've come to associate with Chris Stapleton that I can't imagine him ever writing it. Like, this song fits in with the Chris Stapleton origin story because it shows Chris Stapleton has been doing this thing for a long time and was good at it, but that's the only way it fits. This is just a Kenny Chesney song that Chris Stapleton happened to write, whereas "Izzo" is a Jay-Z song with a Kanye beat. Country music's weird as hell, man. I ain't gonna get it.
69) "Dance Tonight," Paul McCartney
it's gotta be pretty nuts to know that your status as one of the greatest songwriters of all time is so secure that there is absolutely nothing you could do to remove yourself from that pedestal. Like, the only reason I can find for a song like this (read: a bad one) being made from a dude at this level is, he was bored and wanted to see if people would call it an extraordinary songwriting feat if he just dropped a track like "it's nice when people have fun!"
74) "Let It Go," Keyshia Cole ft./Missy Elliott & Lil Kim
Pretty good! A little subdued for my taste, a little too restrained for a song about letting go, but I think we've talked about how I'm not naturally drawn to R&B simply because the genre is so subdued and restrained, so it's probably my own fault I'm not as into this song as I feel I should be. Like, I like all the names involved, I thnk Keyshia Cole was a pretty decent singer, I like the ingredients of the song, but someone put them together with a different palette than mine in mind. Ugh, and that's just the worst, how the world doesn't make enough things for white males to enjoy. This song, though, I think it's a'ight! I have no complaints about it specifically!
91) "How Do I Breathe," Mario
...i swear i've heard this exact same r&b song at least twice, though. like, "let it go" had missy on the track, it was cool. this is another song about a man who is sad his girlfriend left him and wishes she would come back. mario's a more engaging vocalist than the joes and tanks of 2007, like i'd like to hear him sing a better song, but... man, this week is just songs i didn't need to hear, and not in the sense that pop music is bad and i shouldn't try to listen to this much of it, more that 2007 just kinda said, "hey, here's some shit you've already heard from us, have fun." i feel i don't need to have an opinion on this song because i've already had an opinion on some stargate joint or another, y'know?
97) "Doomsday Clock," Smashing Pumpkins
hey speaking of unnecessary, another smashing pumpkins song! and not even one i need to begrudgingly admit is good, this one is the thing i expected smashing pumpkins to sound like, billy corgan nasally whining about some bullshit or another while the guitar plods along dutifully. nothing here is innovative, nothing here takes smashing pumpkins and frames it in a new light for me, this is just a song that exists. these songs all exist.
Well, obviously, since we’re hitting the halfway point, we’re gonna be doing something special! ...Or I would forget how to count and not realize this was the halfway point. Anyway, no Top 20s because nothing changed. 2017!
8 July 2017
4) "Wild Thoughts," by DJ Khaled ft./Rihanna & Bryson Tiller
I don't believe anything Bryson Tiller says on this song. My understanding of Bryson Tiller was that he was a simpering sad boy who sang about his feelings, so when he comes on a track where he a) has to present himself as an equal to Rihanna and b) has to make the argument that he is a worthy sexual partner for Rihanna, it's hard to take him seriously, because all he's done before suggests he's not this person. Like, someone thought of Bryson Tiller was the answer to the question "Who could make Rihanna think wild thoughts?" and that's just amazing to me. Literally anyone else would have been better. Are we not ready to lean so fully into the Latin trend that we'll give Luis Fonsi a starring role in a DJ Khaled song? Are we just this over Miguel? Hell, we know from "Run Up" that PARTYNEXTDOOR's capable of being occasionally interesting, why not him! This song could've been something, but man, that Bryson Tiller feature sinks it.
51) "Feels," by Calvin Harris ft./Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean
I appreciate the work Calvin Harris puts in to making pop music funky again, I think he's aware there's a direct line in music history from him to The Chainsmokers and he's doing his best to distance himself from that, but there's a limit to how much I can enjoy a song with the line "I know you're not afraid to catch feels with me." Like, this is another good song, Calvin Harris has been doing work this spring/early summer, it's just, one of them has to be the worst, and it's this one with its tumblr-ass hook. I wish I had a more legit reason to not be into this song. Nope. It's just that one word. I don't even necessarily mind that word, it's just, an entire song built around that word isn't a party I wanna attend.
61) "First Day Out," by Kodak Black
Nope!
83) "Relationship," by Young Thug ft./Future
Comparing Young Thug to the other dudes in his genre is like comparing a wasp to a group of bumblebees. They're sort of the same thing, but Young Thug is so much different and fearsome. ...This isn't his best song? This is the song you'd expect to chart off the album given the pedigree, but also, it isn't, because there's so many other, better songs on the album? But we should be evaluating this song for what it is, not what it isn't. "I put my dick inside her mouth before she act." Neat! Of all the many things Young Thug is, he is not perfect.
89) "Feel it Still," by Portugal. The Man
I AM IN FAVOR OF ALL THE BRASS 2017 HAS GIVEN ME THIS YEAR. The only instance of a brass instrument I remember from 2007 is the "Get Buck" beat, and I am so thrilled with the occasional blasts on this song. It's a fun song by a band I know I've heard about at some point but didn't expect to see here. I thought Portugal. The Man was ponderous indie nonsense, but yo, if they got one of these in them, I'm down to see what else they got. It's weird when it turns out bands everyone says is good make good songs. Like, what happened to bands like the Arcade Fire, who just whined monotonously over jingle-jangling?
100) "Real Hitta," by Piles ft./Kodak Black
...Are you. Guys. Are you serious? Piles? PIIIIIIILES? Of all the fucking. So many rappers hit in 2007, and the one y'all dredged up to make the Deacde Dance Club, literally the week I introduce that as a thing, is maybe the worst one, the one whose name I didn't even bother to spell right, I thought he was so yesterday. I'm not gonna listen to it for what I hope are obvious reasons, but that doesn't mean we can't jump into the AZ Lyrics page. "All that ass she got back there startin' to look like a Pamper" This is the least sexy way to describe a butt since "My Humps." "Sex game undefeated, think I'm 100-0" ...Has Piles only fucked 100 times? I mean. Hey, nothin' wrong with that, I'm not here to prude shame anyone or promote promiscuity or whatever, but even in the last 10 years, 3,650 days, Piles has only fucked once every five weeks or so? Or is he just on a winning streak, like, that's how many times in a row he's ejaculated? (I'm assuming he's not bragging that, every time he has sex, he makes the woman cum. I don't think Piles has ever had a woman's pleasure in mind when setting about his business.) This is a bizarre boast. "Biggest thing he ever did for you was take you to Chili's." ...Okay. Okay, that's pretty good. "That lil pussy was so sorry, I call it minimum wage." You know what fuck it I'll take gross political commentary. Piles had two lines I enjoyed out of the context of the song! There may be hope for all of us y -- oh right Kodak Black "I'ma come through, and I'ma fuck ya like the police lookin' for me" Well, that's about as tone deaf as I expected, alright, well, there's hope for some of us.
Decade Dance Party
...Um. 31) Piles We said that it’s hard to have two hits ten years apart. What this list presupposes is... What if it isn’t?
Who Won the Week?
A few weeks ago, there was like a three-year stretch where the Houston Texans and the Cincinatti Bengals would play each other in the football playoffs. They were boring games and bad to watch, and while the Bengals and Texans were good enough to have made the playoffs, it kinda sucked that one of the two got to go to the next round while a different, more fun team to watch gets eliminated, or was left out of the playoffs entirely. “Feel It Still” is a fine song and is definitely better than “Let it Go,” but like. “Feel it Still” shouldn’t be the champion for the week. I dunno, kinda meh for both weeks, 2017 takes it because I don’t think “Feel it Still” should get demerits for all the Kodak Black I didn’t listen to. So.
2017: 14 2007: 12
Next week, 2007 is giving us what is indisputably greater than all The Beatles songs put together. (I linked to that specific post because gosh that dude adding his two cents at the end is the reason op exists.) But will it be better than the alt-country song and the indie-rock song I for some reason ranked over “Umbrella?” ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

January Favorites 2017
It’s that time again. It’s January Favorites time. One month down, 11 more months to go of 2017. Weather wise, January was a weird month. It’s 49 degrees now, which is kind of winter weather but not really. Haha. It was like in the 20s and 30s one minute and then in the 60s and 70s the next minute. I started to forget that it was January and not April. Now, it’s starting to feel like a little like January again. Only just a little though. Anyway, I’m going to be sharing my January Favorites 2017 with you guys today. These are items I discovered this month and that I absolutely loved during the month of January. Without further ado, let’s get right into my favorites!
Favorite Food of the Month
1. Boulder Canyon Avocado Oil Canyon Cut Jalapeno Chips
I’ve tried Boulder Canyon’s products in the past and I liked them a lot. I recently came across these chips when I was out grocery shopping. These chips are SO good guys. Just a disclaimer, these chips have a kick to them. Like they are spicy to the point where it can clear your sinuses right up if they are stopped up. I’m serious. Haha. If you’re a fan of some kick and spice, you gotta give these a try.
2. Boulder Canyon Avocado Oil Canyon Cut Cracked Pepper and Sea Salt Chips
Those who know me, know I love the combination of pepper and salt. I love it on popcorn, roasted chickpeas, and now potato chips. They have just the right amount of salt on them. They are so good and I definitely recommend them.
3. Cream of Wheat
Cream of Wheat has been my go-to breakfast lately. My mom introduced it to me and I really like it. I pair it with a little bit of dairy-free milk. It’s so good and filling. It’s one of my favorite breakfasts now. If you haven’t tried Cream of Wheat, you definitely should!
Favorite Posts of the Month
4. Sprouts x Life of a Vegaholic Hunger Challenge
You guys already know that I recently partnered with Sprouts Farmers Market to do the Hunger Challenge on my blog to spread hunger awareness. I learned so much from doing that challenge and had fun in the kitchen making these dishes. You can check out Hunger Challenge Day One, Day Two, Day Three, and Day Four here. I actually made Day Three’s recipe last night for dinner and it was amazing. All of these dishes are easy to make, don’t take a lot of time to make, and taste amazing. Make sure you’re subscribed to the blog to avoid missing out on delicious posts like these by clicking here.
Favorite Movies of the Month
5. Hidden Figures
I went to a screening of this movie this month and I really loved the movie. Computer science is something that comes so natural to me. As a person who is a child of an engineer and a person who grew up around computer science, it was super inspiring and uplifting. Everybody needs to see this movie because this story is a part of American history. It tackles not only segregation but also discrimination against women and racial discrimination. It’s a definite must-see.
6. Patriot’s Day
My mom and I went to go see Patriot’s Day this month. I have three words for you. GO. SEE. IT. If you didn’t know, Patriot’s Day is about the Boston Marathon bombing that took place in 2013. This movie was intense and so powerful. Everyone did a great job in this film. I liked how the film showed how the bombings affected the community through the first responders, survivors, and the investigators’ point of view. It was so interesting to see the FBI and the Boston police department do the city-wide manhunt to find the people responsible for the bombing. I didn’t realize nor know how many people got hurt along the way by the bombers. I spotted some familiar faces like J.K. Simmons, Alex Wolff (I loved the Naked Brothers Band when I was younger) and Melissa Benoist (Glee and Supergirl on the CW) in the film. The film did a great job at portraying what happened during the Boston Marathon bombing and the aftermath of it.
Favorite TV of the Month
7. The New Edition Story on BET
Going into this mini-series, I wasn’t really a fan of New Edition and knew a little bit about them through my mom. After watching this mini-series, I became a fan of their dancing. Those guys could DANCE. The actors did such a great job with their portrayals of the real New Edition members, whether they played them as preteens or teens to adulthood. I totally believed that they were actually a boy band. This mini-series kept me at the edge of my seat. It was SO good! If you haven’t seen it yet, you seriously have to. You can most likely catch it on BET because they’ve been showing it back-to-back like nonstop.
8. My Kitchen Rules on FOX
The show is about celebrity duos going up against each other as they cook and critique each other’s food. This show is really entertaining and is funny. I watch the show for the cooking, but my favorite part of the show is seeing the reactions of Brandy and Ray J. I LIVE for their facial expressions and commentary. Their reactions towards situations on this show are so priceless and hilarious.
Favorite Music of the Month
These are songs I’ve been listening to a lot recently. You should definitely give these songs a listen.
9. Thumbs by Sabrina Carpenter
10. Compass by Forever In Your Mind
