Comprehensive Guide For Assassination Classroom Content

Because it's pretty hard to find a straight up list of it all. Please note that whilst I believe this is accurate, I was not involved in the fandom whilst the series was active and so could reasonably miss something.

Core Content

Assassination Classroom manga as serialised in Shounen Jump. If you buy the physical volumes, there's a bit of additional content between chapters, most notably introductory character profiles.

Assassination Classroom anime (some count seasons 1 and 2 as separate entities)

Assassination Classroom Meeting Time - an animated short featuring Korosensei and Karasuma's first meeting.

Assassination Classroom Extra Curricular Lessons - adaptations of a couple of manga chapters that weren't in the show itself. I'll just link a playlist here. Fun fact this is where Nagisa gets hit by a chair (lowkey he deserved it)

Additional Content

365 Days Movie. This isn't 'canon' as it's an anime original thing. There's no official English release that I know of. Honestly the movie is mostly a series recap, and only features Karma and Nagisa in new scenes. It's only really worth watching if you especially ship them as there's only maybe 10 minutes of actual content (and most of that is just montage, you can get the gist with this)

Roll Call Book - this was published mid manga run. It's mostly just a bunch of bonus content particularly character based. No official English translation exists, but snippets are easy enough to find online.

Graduation Album - as the name implies, it accompanies the end of the manga. About half of it is an art book, but there's extra character information especially about their post graduation lives. Crucially it includes a few manga shorts which extend past the actual canon ending.

Korotan A, B, C, and D plus Korosuu. They're mostly just Assassination Classroom themed text books (Seriously. My actual university book store sold them.) Korotans are for English vocabulary, Korosuu is for maths. Notably each book also contains a light novel (sometimes these are just referred to as 'the light novels'). It is debatable how canon these are as Matsui didn't write them, but he was involved through illustrating and overseeing the writing. Korotan D is especially debated because it's post canon content set when 3E are 18, but there's a small 'it was all a dream' implication right at the end of the book. Personally speaking I take them as full canon.

Official Spin Offs

The live action movies (part one and two). They change a lot of plot so I place them more in the spin off area. Easily skippable.

Korosensei Quest Manga (otherwise known as Koro Q) - a spin off gag manga set in a fantasy/video game inspired universe. This is not canon (unfortunately) and as far as I understand Matsui isn't involved in it. There's an implication of the idea it's Fuwa's own manga creation. Overall there are four volumes but there's no official English version (though fan scans aren't hard to find).

Korosensei Quest Anime - lightly based on the Koro Q manga. This is only a short 10 episode series though, and was complete long before the original, as such only the first few episodes are actual adaptations and it starts doing its own thing. All voice cast return so that's neat.

The OVA - basically an early adaptation of the Kyoto arc. Link here. It was released in 2013 so predates the actual anime, and a lot of the voice cast are different.

White day shorts featuring Karma, Maehara, and Nagisa - posted on official website as an otome game parody for promotion. Included because they're voice acted.

The 3DS games. They're region locked as far as I understand, and there's no translation of them. You can find it dumped if you know what you're doing with emulators, I've only played a few minutes of it myself.

The app game - no longer available. It was a gatcha tie in game featuring a variety of character illustrations.

Various merch lines and related illustrations. There are far too many to list and new ones still come out sometimes.

As I said, I hope I covered everything but there's a good possibility something slipped my mind.

yoshida taisei and autism

there are many characters within 3e that are frequently posited to be a form of neurodivergent and for obvious reason considering the commentary the series draws upon. but a character i veeeery rarely (bar myself + friends) see included among the likes of itona or okuda or sugaya when discussing autistic headcanons despite it being imo one of the most blatant is yoshida

disclaimer one: i am in no way claiming that yoshida being easily read as autistic was intentional on m*tsui’s part lol. id never give that man the credit for that especially considering his track record of dealing with sensitive subjects

disclaimer two: this is NOT intended to be a diagnostic tool. this is simply me (an autistic guy) discussing my own traits i recognise in yoshida that, along with how much i have studied his character, cause me to have the strong conviction i do regarding headcanoning him as autistic. also u dont actually need to have any in depth reasoning to view a character as such either im just insane and have been meaning to fully write this up for eons

so without further ado!!!

firstly, the absolute most blatant trait of yoshida’s that would attract neurodivergent readings is his passionate interest in motorcycles. but id like to go into the extremely far extent to which his interest goes and how it, as a result, reads very much like a special interest

i have often talked about how i dont believe “interest” is strong enough a word to describe the sheer passion yoshida holds for motorcycles. he is associated with them to the degree that its his most recognisable trait by classmates and those in any way familiar with the series

examples of the extent of immersion in his interest exist within his character profiles. his graduation album profile (trans. @/irraydiance) comments on how “he’ll tackle any problem as long as he can apply the knowledge of motorcycles” and has korosensei tell him that he hopes he’ll be able to express his motorcycle knowledge in “a way everyone understands”. a defining factor of a special interest is how it impacts the way in which one understands and interacts with the world around them, we see things through the context of our special interest. yoshida is explicitly stated to have this apply to him — he can achieve anything, he just needs to be able to view it through his obsession with motorcycles. the “in a way everyone understands” is noteworthy wording, as it easily relates to our realities as autistic people and not being understood by the world, including how our intense special interests are perceived.

additionally in his graduation album profile is his reasoning for dropping down to e class which literally is: he spent too much time with his motorcycle. special interests are characterised by an obsessive fixation that makes it hard to do things that dont involve it — things like studying!!! it’s in this sense they can impair our day to day lives. and korosensei picks up on this, in yoshida’s roll book time profile (trans. @/ansatsu-database) he identifies yoshida as “the embodiment of what one likes one will do well” and tries to entice him into mathematics by calling it “useful when tinkering with bikes” - giving yoshida an incentive to bother with it. his roll book time profile is also where we learn that collecting bike related memorabilia is the main thing he spends his money on, and the “collection” aspect of special interests comes up again in chapter 154 where we see him at home with a little motorcycle figurine on his desk. it is also because of his obsession with bikes and his hobby tinkering with them (also influenced by his parents repair shop) that he, according the graduation album, possesses engineering knowledge beyond that of a university student.

it is our first in series introduction to yoshida’s passion for motorcycles in vision time and the context surrounding this introduction that gives us the best grasp on the sheer extent of this intensity. vision time sees the breaking point of terasaka in the face of yoshida and muramatsu beginning to trust korosensei — the way in which korosensei gains the trust of the boys differs significantly but the core similarity that is important to note here is how he directly appeals to what he knows they care about most at this point. with muramatsu he tutors him and helps him improve his grades, appealing to muramatsu’s extremely strong desire to succeed (a recurring theme in his character) as well as his desire to prove himself

with yoshida, however, korosensei appeals to what he knows from observing and talking to him is most important to him: motorcycles. he appeals exactly to what yoshida strongly reacts to and clings to: he engages with him in his interest. he goes out of his way to make a model of a motorcycle and dress in biker gear and to describe yoshida as excited by it would be an understatement!!! look at this boy stim!!!

korosensei engaging with yoshida in his motorcycle interest is likened to muramatsu improving his grades — something INCREDIBLY significant within the context of 3e/kunugigaoka in general and that effectively demonstrates the intense extent of yoshida’s interest. furthermore, through this appeal by korosensei yoshida exposes himself to the class he had before distanced himself from: he is seen openly stimming and openly laughing, something before unimaginable from him, all because of this act from korosensei, because of motorcycles

terasaka destroying the motorcycle model prompts a reaction from yoshida that again is placed on the same level as terasaka literally throwing muramatsu against a tree, equating the two as inflicting similar damage which is reinforced again in yoshida + muramatsu’s comments towards terasaka later

his special interest in motorcycles also leads him to develop smaller but still seemingly intense interests in other vehicles, the most notably being trains. in the character databook there’s a page on the clubs some members of 3e were in before being sent to e class and yoshida is revealed to have been a member of the railroad research club - specifically, it notes how he’s “especially crazy” for steam locomotives which led him to take a railroad tour out of his own volition. trains are a common interest for autistic people (not for me personally, but i know while it is a “stereotype” it IS true for many) which is why though im sure its entirely coincidental i bring it up because i think its funny how one of the most easily read as autistic characters would be given it

how he connects with itona links to this also. itona holds an interest similar in intensity to yoshida regarding electronics and it’s the core way through which the two bond — sharing these interests with each other and becoming a “tech team” the class can rely on. notably, yoshida’s thought process behind giving itona his first bike ride is the same as what i’ll mention more later: it works for him, it must work for itona, not factoring in the differing contexts.

the second trait of yoshida’s i feel might be the next most obvious is his very prominent sense of “justice” by his own rules of black and white thinking. this is implied offhandedly somewhat in hazama’s databook profile where she and yoshida are stated to be the “most rational” out of the terasaka gang, compared to terasaka, muramatsu and itona. but there are a few instances that explicitly demonstrate this idea

the “rules” yoshida has for himself with his thought process to determine something as angering to him largely center around this idea of “fairness”. to him something is either fair or unfair and there appears little room for nuance — terasaka destroyed the motorcycle, that’s unfair, he gets angry — grip using underhanded tactics against karma is unfair, he gets angry — takaoka’s grudge on nagisa is unfair because nagisa defeated takaoka fairly, he gets angry — karma and nakamura positioning him the way they do in the civil war is deemed “not playing fair”. he never lets what he deems “unfair” go uncommented on. less emotionally focused is when he calls out gakuhou by commenting on how korosensei has played by his rules fair and square, so gakuhou should just give up

additionally, this manifests in yoshida’s reasoning for choosing “kill” during the civil war. while compared to the rest of the terasaka gang his reasoning is much more up to personal interpretation in that he only says one brief thing - that one brief thing has him say how he too thought of ways to save korosensei but, evidently, couldnt find one and so accepted this was the only other option. this line of thinking on yoshida’s part of wanting to save koro leads me to think it wouldnt be a stretch to suggest that his idea of “saving” after he realized it wouldnt work for korosensei fell decidedly upon prioritising saving his friends and classmates by continuing with the assassination and thus avoiding what the fallout for failing to do so would be. it again connects to his fixation on “fairness” and how black and white his thought process can be considered in that he quickly acknowledges that its a one life vs billions of lives situation with seemingly little emotional input. this is true in a fair less “noble” or objectively “just” way in the very first episode regarding his willingness to participate in terasaka’s plan to sacrifice nagisa to kill koro-sensei ergo “save the world” and get a billion yen - we can only speculate given what his role was, but the way yoshida probably justified his involvement at this stage to himself is likely to fall on the same wavelength as what else i have discussed.

connecting to anger, however, is the third point: yoshida is a sensitive guy who is easily overwhelmed by the force of his emotions + struggles to regulate them

yoshida rarely gets openly angry or upset, but when he does he seems to get very overwhelmed by it in how it essentially bursts out of him (much like his joy!). the island arc is an excellent example of this in how he is (understandably) extremely distressed by the prospect of people dying due to the virus (especially muramatsu and hazama which is why theyre positioned in the background of the panel!!!) and it causes him to burst out in an example of overwhelmed panic

notably, he is the only character to have an outburst as big as this displaying the difference in emotional regulation, and doubly notably is how the only other time before this point we had seen yoshida display emotion like this was the motorcycle incident in vision time. i think, from experience lol, that his behavior here and from here on out does resemble the teeterings of a meltdown, that hara (his childhood friend) seems able to soothe him away from for the time being. but he remains extremely notably on edge for the remainders of the arc. which again, would be understandable for anyone, but he is the only character (bar terasaka) who is depicted to this extent distressed. this becomes ESPECIALLY more easy to read as a teetering-on-meltdown because of how yoshida’s distress in part stems from how this ordeal has entirely disrupted how he imagined this “vacation” to unfold. it is notable that before the poisoning, it’s yoshida who asserts that they will kill koro-sensei and then relax - especially as part of the terasaka gang previously distant with the assassination, this is all that is in his mind. and then the not only does the attempt fail but entirely unexpected disaster strikes and it is yoshida who frantically points out “we didn’t come to this island to be killed”

the departure scene captures this element of him as well, having him be one of the students openly sobbing during the final roll call for one

linking to him being overwhelmed is a few instances of his hypersensitivity when it comes to sensory issues, and then presumed hyposensitivity. regarding the former, the fascinating examples are found in his roll book time profile. theres a comment by karasuma that notes how when playing cops and robbers yoshida “was able to sense karasuma’s presence, when many students failed to do the same until he touched them” — connoting some form of possible tactile hypersensitivity on yoshida’s end, which could also explain why he never wears the school blazer instead opting for the cardigan all year round unless forced.

the other example found here is his favorite food: monster energy drink. he is the only character with a fave food listed who provides something like that — everyone else gives examples of actual, you know, cuisine. realistically, it’s likely a gag about how common a sponsor monster are at motorcycle races particularly in japan, BUT at the same time it can be interpreted as him having a hypersensitivity to taste where monster energy drink is a “safe food” for him. many autistic people, including myself, with hypersensitivities to taste or texture in food have a safe food that is often a processed snack food due to their predictable nature

regarding hyposensitivity, i think his special interest in motorcycles factors into it. motorcycles provide the rider with a feeling of immense adrenaline due to the pressure and extreme feeling of movement exerted onto them — hyposensitivity to pressure is the reason many autistic people love things like weighted blankets and vestibular hyposensitivity leads to stimming by rocking, spinning etc. regarding yoshida, his remedy for both of these things is riding his motorcycle

another “blatant” aspect of yoshida’s character that can open way for easy autistic interpretation concerns his communication, such as: how blunt he can be!! understandably this is often overlooked by him being in the proximity of itona, which is fair, but yoshida is similarly blunt without the awareness of how socially acceptable it is to be so. most notably this manifests in how he talks to korosensei in chapter 154 where in response to muramatsu saying he guesses korosensei “had his own worries” yoshida says “some pretty stupid worries compared to how depressed the rest of us were”

aside from the above instance the biggest moment displaying him misreading a situation + suggesting something that to him is a completely logically sound idea is during kayano’s reveal + attempted murder of korosensei

finally, mention of that moment brings me to his atypical thought process which is on full display here as he suggests in full sincerity that mimura play air guitar + distract kayano with his “badass skills” and doesn’t understand why others react to it in the flummoxed way they do because in his mind this is an easy, obvious, natural connection to make - mimura’s air guitar had a prominent impact on him, that should apply to everyone!!! the differing context doesnt occur to him, why would it? autism often causes us to fixate on small details rather than the “bigger picture” - this is a similar thought process with its disregarding of contexts that earlier in the story has him take itona on a bike ride to take his mind of the tentacles

conclusively, through connecting many of yoshida’s character traits to autistic symptoms + traits, most of which discussed here i personally experience with my own autism, i think he can extremely easily be read as autistic and joins the pantheon of class 3e students who also can also extremely easily be and are frequently read as such (okuda, sugaya, itona)!!!

TLDR: yoshida taisei has autism. i rest my case

Tales of Republic City***

Hey, remember when you finished ATLA and sat there sort of dazed and realized...oh wow, I am completely obsessed? And then when you found out that Kataang got married when they grew up and everyone lived in Republic City together and raised kids and you IMMEDIATELY, FULL-STOP, ran to the internet for fan fiction because you wanted...No, you NEEDED to know what happened in between?

How did they get there, was it happily ever after always? Did they have a wedding? A million questions. Tales of Republic City by DJNS answers them all with the highest caliber.

Let's talk quality. I'm going to review A LOT, if not all, DJNS' ATLA stories because they're probably the best there is. Many, many people have attempted to write the entire swath of time after the show, and very very few succeed.

ToRC is so thoughtfully in character, it's easy to mistake it for canon. If the 2025 movie comes out and its basically the plot of ToRC, I won't be losing any money.

What I love most about the tales is that the stories are vignettes, but are also an organized stream, like looking into the gaang's photo album after the war. It's not completely sugar-coated, either. There is struggle, there is hardship. As ATLA itself pointed out-- Aang is the vessel of unfathomable power, but he's still just a human. ToRC keeps the faith with this concept, and shows Katara, Aang, their kids, their family, being unapologetically human.

You'll be swept in. DJNS' stories are immersive in totality. I read this fic the same way I read Goblet of Fire on midnight release-- shut in my room with red eyes, binge eating cheeto puffs and cursing myself for needing to blink too much.

Top shelf Hall of Fame along with Apartment 3E.

hihi! i remember seeing you set hype boy by newjeans as the song that would fit chiba and kaho, and i was wondering what other kpop groups you see them (or 3e too) listing to! i hope you’re having a good day!!

I've got a couple of groups in mind but I first need to let you know that:

Realistically, not everyone in 3E would be listening to kpop + I hardly pay attention to other groups these days 😭

Kaho - EXO

She's the kind of fan who would go through any lengths to find and buy that rare but ridiculously overpriced photocard of Kai 😭

With the group not being as active as they used to be, Kaho would most likely casually hops between fandoms. Typically a boy group stan.

Chiba - Stray Kids

Kaho has been trying to get Chiba into kpop, mostly to have a shared interest with him, and her hopes are far up because kpop artists do any sorts of music genre so there's a chance he might find something he liked.

He barely budged though since his music tastes are so specific and far from what's common among kpop groups. He'd find himself liking a song or two from a group, or in the extremely rare case, finds himself liking a whole album (such as Dark & Wild by BTS).

And then Stray Kids debuted 😁

Nakamura - XG

They're not really kpop though, but they're seriously the only group I think Nakamura would actually care about.

(Especially with the old school hiphop + rnb feel they had and will still have going on)

Kanzaki - Dreamcatcher

Along with AleXa, Rolling Quartz, Pink Fantasy, and PIXY... you could pretty much tell what kind of girl groups she's typically into just based on their concepts.

Irina - HYOLYN

Honestly this is more of a strong association between the two rather than Irina listening to her songs (she totally would though, same for SISTAR as a whole).

Just that, Irina being Christian gives off the same vibes as Hyolyn randomly pulling out a bible in her "what's in my bag" video 😭😭

Maehara and Okajima - early TWICE

I just have this tiny headcanon of Okajima being a fan of idol groups in general, and TWICE's popularity in Japan can easily put them in his radar.

Maehara would also begin listening to them since he liked their songs enough and they are everywhere.

Megu - current TWICE

On the other hand, I think Megu would be more into their later music as their group image matures along with their ages. The classy feel they have in their recent releases seem to be more right in her alley.

Yada - LE SSERAFIM

Listen,

LS SSERAFIM's branding of being this gathering of strong and confident women who are fearlessly facing their future, not letting others bring them down and the past to pull them back, just screams YADA to me.

I strongly believe that she'll love them.

Plus I think she'll enjoy dancing to their choreo.

Tout d’abord E’last qui était par le passé “EBOYZ” est un groupe composé de 8 membres. Ils ont débutés le 9 Juin 2020 avec leur mini-album “Day Dream” avec pour title track “Swear”.

• Rano le leader , il a 23 ans (10/12/1998) , il est danseur principal/rappeur , il aime faire du vélo , le shopping, sa famille et ses fans…Les membres l’appellent “Tyrano”

• Ensuite le membre le plus âgé est Choi In , il a 26 ans (je suis encore sous le choque 💀) , il est danseur/chanteur du groupe , autrefois il était dans un groupe de danse de rue (TOY) il faisait des performances, et il aime mangas , la cuisine, les jeux vidéo, le vélo…

- Seungyeop:

• Seung Yeop , il a 24 ans (08/05/1997) , il est Chanteur/visuel, il aime faire de l’exercice et c’est le membre qui a le plus grande force physique de son groupe , les films/dramas , sa famille , les comédies musicales (il en jouer une en 2016).

- Baekgyeul :

• BeakGyeul il a 22 ans (01/12/1999) il est le chanteur du groupe , il est casanier , il aime la mode , Star Wars , les chiens et les chats , jouer de la guitare…

• Romin il a 21 ans (24/04/2001) , il est chanteur/danseur , il aime aller au cinéma, les choses mignonnes, le shopping, les Marvel…

- Wonhyuk:

• Won Hyuk il a 20 ans (22/02/2002) , il est le chanteur principal et rappeur, il aime faire des covers , ATEEZ (c’est Bias son Hongjoon/San Mais on sait pas le 3e à cause de Mingi (je rigole quand je dis ça 😭)) , les vêtements, la décoration, et c’est le membre qui travaille le plus.

- Wonjun:

• Wonjun il a 20 ans aussi (08/03/2002) , il est Rappeur principal/chanteur , il aime faire de l’exercice , le sport , la musique, les chiots (il sait parler anglais et mandarin) il sait jouer du piano de la batterie (il était dans produce X101 avec Wonhyuk).

- Yejun:

• Et enfin Yejun il est le Maknae et il a 19 ans (23/08/2002) , il est chanteur , aime prendre des photos de chats , voyager , le dessin , il a le rire facile et il mange ÉNORMÉMENT 💀 (et il arrive à garder la ligne malgré ça eh nan)

Get to Know Me

Last Song: Old 97's - Timebomb. Just kinda got stuck in my head out of nowhere today, but that's hardly a bad thing. Too Far to Care is an easy top 5 desert island album for me. Correction: I guess that was the last song I had listened to before I started this thing, but now I'm listening to Absolute Lithops Effect by the Mountain Goats. All Hail West Texas might also be a desert island album, actually... and if it's not, it's only because I'm being very careful to pick one album per band and some other tMG album edged it out. Sunset Tree, maybe? Ugh, really hard choice here.

Currently Reading: Exalted: Essence, I guess. I still haven't quite completed a cover-to-cover read yet, but that hasn't stopped me from running it.

Currently Watching: We watched a couple episodes of King of the Hill tonight! That was fun.

Currently Obsessed With: Oh, geez. That's kinda hard to narrow down.

Exalted's a big one right now. I lived and breathed the game from like, '01 - '11 or '12, but 3e didn't really land for me. Essence was just the thing to bring me back. I'm about 15 sessions into a new campaign and it feels really, really good to be running it again. I spend a ton of time thinking about Exalted, prepping the game, making dumb spreadsheets of demons and spells and stuff. Feels like home... Or maybe like falling off the wagon; haven't quite decided yet.

I really, really love making terrariums, but I haven't done one in a while. Despite my initial resistance, it kinda led to me just becoming a house plant guy, so that's me now, I guess. I'm really itching to put together a small planted aquarium, but it hasn't happened yet. Nothing huge, but there's logistics to figure out, just the same.

Une image d’album c’est si important.

Elle dit ce que le disque EST. Elle est son reflet le plus juste et le premier contact que l’on a avec la musique.

La barre est haute, car j’ai eu la chance d’avoir des rencontres artistiques fantastiques avec des photographes, illustrateurs et graphistes tels que Nick Knight, Ines & Vinood, Pierre et Gilles, Richard Dumas, Guy Peellaert, Pari Dukovic, Antoine Le Grand, Donald Christie, Frédérique Veysset, Janusz Kawa, Karim Sadli, Antoine Giacomoni….le corse.

Un autre corse magnifique, Pierre Ange Carlotti. Une autre belle rencontre. Sur la même longueur d’ondes.

Dans une journée glaciale et en tenue chic cuir et pailletée, nous avons shooté cette image qui semble sortie d’un film.

Ovniesque, nocturne, captant un moment de surprise. Pierre Ange a réalisé l’image que j’avais en tête depuis le début de l’écriture de cet album. Merci à lui et aux figurants ( Julia, Margueritte, Paul et Soel ) qui ont eux aussi bravé le froid pour m’accompagner dans cette belle aventure qui ne peut qu’être belle, puisque les planètes sont alignées.

So tbh I pretty much don't listen french music lmao

But if you are into rock music, yuou should listen to Indochine, it's the most famous french rock band, they've been around since the 80s and they also always had engaged texts about queerness, war, etc.

Check : L'Aventurier (aka their most famous song we always butcher at karaoke cause it's too fast lmao), 3e Sexe, Canary Bay, Tes Yeux noirs, La vie est belle, J'ai demandé à la lune, Les Tzars, Trois nuits par semaine, College Boy, and basically everything.

There's also Superbus, another rock group, I don't really follow what they are releasing now. You can check : Lola, Butterfly, Travel the World, Addictions, Apprends moi, Mes défauts, Je reste encore, C'est pas comme ça...

Also gotta out myself to my french followers as I used to be a big Kyo fan during my emo phase lmao. They are not a emo band but they were there during the emo eras and most of their texts are sad af lmao.

If you want to feel included in the middle of french millennials just learn the whole lyrics of Dernière Danse, we all go batshit crazy when this song starts playing. Mylène Farmer, I'm not a die hard fan but still I would love to see her live cause she's famous to put on the greatest show. This woman is kind of a legend. She revolutionized music videos, and she has an aura... you either love her or you hate her tbh. She has a very special kind of voice and people don't like her cause she sings A LOT about death, but she also sings very explicitly about sex and non gender norms.

Check: Pourvu qu'elles soient douces (the music has a 20 minutes clip and it's the one that revolutionized the music videos), Sans Contrefaçon, Désenchantée, Ainsi sois je, Les Mots, C'est une belle journée, Dégénération, Oui mais... Non, California, L'âme-stram-gram, Innamoramento, a personal favourite of me: it's a Baudelaire's poem she put into music (I'm a big Baudelaire's poetry enthousiast).

If you're into rap, then absolutely check Diam's. Again she came from my teen years, she doesn't release music anymore, she chose another path. BUT she is very important to the rap scene in France. She is the first female superstar rapper here and everyone still respect her today (if they don't, don't trust them). She was walking in the middle of a male field with basically her talent and her spite and that's all. And most of the french women of hip hop wouldn't be here today if she didn't path the way. Again, I'm repeating myself but more of her texts are not very joyous lmao. She also talk a lot about France's society racism and sadly, currently listening to her in 2022 and well... it's still very true...

Check : La Boulette, Jeune demoiselle (definitely not a deep text but a veryfamous song of her), Parce que, Cause à effet, Dj (another french millennials karaoke moment lmao), T.S. (definitely her most heavy song it's about her suicide attempt), Marine (this one is about Marin Lepen a french far right politician that has been now multiple times in the second turn of presidential elections), Ma France à moi.

You can search "variété française" if you want to listen to all of our classics from the 80s (or before) to the 2010s. Basically I don't really listen to a lot french music but when I do it's probably classified as "cringe" and "old" by everyone else lmao. I kinda stopped following whatever music has been released after the 2010s.

This is just my opinion obviously, and things I thought were kind of relevant. Explanations below cut!

Tier One

Shounen Jump - the weekly manga magazine Assassination Classroom originally was published in Yuusei Matsui - the series creator Nagisa's gender - in reference to the amount of people who think Nagisa's a girl for some period of time

Tier Two

Ramen gun meme - a viral tumblr post using the clip of Gastro preparing ramen with a gun which blew up far outside the fandom Koro Q - The fantasy chibi spin off manga and anime Manga only villains - Numerous characters (usually assassins) who only appeared in the manga 365 Days - The movie, featuring adult Karma and Nagisa remembering their days in class Toonami rerelease - Recent broadcast on an anime channel which has caused a sharp increase in new fans

Tier Three

Live action movies - two movies adapted from the ass class story Kunudon - the nut mascot of the school. Featured in weird BDSM situations within Koro Q Sonic Ninja - movie (loved by Karma and Nagisa) in the series. Has a whole trailer post credits in one of the episodes Nagisa's gender (controversy) - in reference to the portions of fans who fetishize him, write him as a female etc., and the fans who push back against it Pop culture references - numerous references to other anime like One Piece, Naruto, etc., but also other properties such as Pirates of the Caribbean Asano's mother - a character who barely exists aside from one manga panel, where you can see her back

Tier Four

Mobile game - a card collecting app/game where multiple illustrations of all the characters were released. No longer running. 3DS game - game based on the main story. Wasn't released outside of Japan nor translated Korotan - four book series for teaching English, but also included short stories. Most significant is Korotan D, which features the kids after graduating high school 7 years later manga - a number of short manga pages featuring a few characters in the future found in the Graduation Album. Karma discourse - never ending internal fights about whether Karma is a good person or not, especially over his Nagisa jokes

Tier Five

Korosuu - similar to korotan books, but focused on maths. Less well known due to incomplete English translation (i know im still working on it i swear-) Everyone owns the mountain - lesser known fact that E Class used their money to legally purchase the 3E class building and mountain Hachiouji - the real life city Kunugigaoka is based on Korosensei's nationality - more so because it's unknown, though there are a lot of fan theories OVA - an adaptation of the Kyoto arc before the anime was made, featuring a different voice cast and art style

Tier Six

Yada is LGBT - it's subtle but this is canon, and so she's the only definitively not straight character in the series Bonus songs - the releases of the OPs came with some bonus tracks sung by the cast (you can find them on spotify) "half middle two" - the worst translation in the series, of Karma's codename. It was meant to be a reference to the cultural phenomenon of a teenager living in a fantasy world where they're the best at everything. The shed - cursed location (i.e where Irina gets 'helped' by Korosensei) Timeline - for Aguri to have been the 3E teacher, the school year has to have lasted more than a full year Takada and Tanaka - two bully characters often seen from main campus. Weirdly implied to be gay for each other.

Tier Seven

Fuwa meta - Fuwa often breaking the fourth wall (esp in the manga), and implied to be the writer of Koro Q Bitch Sensei and Karasuma's daughter - Introduced in the seven years manga, but a lot of people missed that they have a canon child Kayano's dad is evil - a theory but with decent proof that Aguri may have been somewhat forced to marry Yanagisawa

Tier Eight

Commodore Matthew Perry - the historical commodore who came to Japan in the 1800s and forced the country to open up borders for trade (basically one of the most important Japanese historical events). In the manga, his image is shown when Bitch Sensei is teaching how to seduce foreigners. Karasuma's dead sister - referenced on the ass class wiki, with little explanation or general fandom knowledge as to who, how, or when Kayano pregnant - a theory some fans had due to the positioning of her hands in the final manga chapter

Hey, Toonami people, just for you I'll explain Karma's codename.

Long story short they localised this terribly.

The Japanese is actually "chuunihan" and comes from the phrase "chuunibyou" or "second grader disease". It refers to middle schoolers who develop a kind of fantasy coolness complex where they think they're super self important - sometimes so into anime/games that they outwardly act like they're a protagonist.

The "han" here means half, so basically they're saying that Karma has protagonist kun disease but he goes about it in a half assed lazy way

The AUs I have fully developed at this point but will probably never write

- Nagisa is an assassin who murders Karma, but this comes back to bite him in the ass when Karma turns into a ghost and starts haunting him. At first he sticks to poltergeist shit, but somehow he ends up falling in love

- Karma, being an edgy teen, decides to summon a demon to do his bidding. Considering he doesn't know what he's doing, he ends up summoning Nagisa, an incubus. Except, this is literally Nagisa's first job. Then there's the fact that Karma has no interest in doing incubus... stuff. He just wants Nagisa to fetch him food, mess with Gakushuu etc. They end up having to hug alot so Nagisa doesn't starve. Surprisingly innocent and wholesome

- A straight up Barbie in an Island Princess retelling, just with Japanese flavour. Nagisa, the son of a samurai lord, comes across the long-lost prince having been sent to scour some nearby islands. A bunch of intrigue and plot occurs, but the most important parts are that Karma is feral enough to sleep in trees, and he can still talk to animals for some reason.

- Percy Jackson AU (because I'm trash) where Nagisa is a child of Thanatos (or Hades, I haven't decided) and Karma is a son of Nemesis. Honestly, I feel like that alone speaks for itself.

- Assassin Nagisa and lawyer Karma. Nagisa's on trial for murder, and Karma falls in love with him over the course of trying to defend him. He ends up pulling out all the stops, and by some kind of magic gets Nagisa off the hook. After which, Nagisa tells him he was guilty the entire time.

- The super cool Harry Potter AU I came up with before we found out how cursed JK was. Like this one I'll definitely never write, but Nagisa as the actual heir of Slytherin just chatting to snakes in his sleep...

- An AU where they both actually had good parents. AKA, Karma's a kind, respectful, emotionally balanced kid. Nagisa's far less unnerving. They were dating but broke up when Nagisa went into E Class, and this time Karma never got suspended...

Long story short, my ability to make literally anything into a karmagisa au is frightening. The worst part is I could write DETAILED posts on all of these too.

What’s this about koro Q and karmagisa?

Okay strap yourself in. This became a Karma sexuality meta. warning for koro q spoilers.

This centres around Bitch Sensei and her 'charm' ability. Note that Nagisa 'charms' (read: he doesn't actually, everyone just thought he was hot) 3E in chapter two, but what I'm talking about here is the sort of mind-control ability, which is consistently represented by a heart around the head.

This section of the panel speaks clearly. You can only be charmed if you're attracted to women. Hell, "are you gay" is right there (I don't have access to the Japanese rn so I can't double check the exact wording).
