X-Men 97 arrive bientôt.

STEREOSCOPIC ILLUSIONS
instead of doing anything productive ive been experimenting with creating 3D illusions.
To see the video as 3D unfocus your eyes until the two images become 3, and with some effort try to focus on the middle image.
some people have found success by holding the phone close to their eyes and pulling it away slowly until you find the point at which creating the illusion is easiest.
this illusion works similarly to magic eye pictures; so apply similar techniques.
The illusion is created by varying the distance of features between the two images to mimic the two perspectives of our vision. So for instance if we take my model turn around and delay it slightly; the right eye will see points on the model the left eye is not yet seeing as it rotates. The brain subconsciously interprets the slight difference as spatial information.
Fun home project for you:
Tumblr media
take 2 pictures of your subject, the first from a perspective rotated to the left from the axis of the subject, the second from the equal opposite right. If you have an iPhone and the images are in the same line in your camera roll you can see the illusion in action.
It might work similarly on other devices, otherwise you can edit them together (side by side) on an app like canva or in photoshop.
the difference between the perspective only needs to be very slight (you should barely be able to tell the difference).

You can also do this in photoshop by varying the distance between various features.
Farther apart = closer to the viewer
Closer together = towards the horizon.
Im trying to find applications for this in my art and ways to reproduce the effect in a way that can work on a larger scene. Perhaps using chromatic aberration.
This is of course an old trick- however my recent obsession with it came after i got really high and stared at an old pattern of mine and noticed that the repeating pattern aligned to create the illusion of depth.

Holga 120 Stereo Camera Continuing my obsession with stereoscopic photography. You only get six shots a roll and printing is a pain as you have to do two prints on one sheet. Still, it's fun
The first two stereoslides are cross-eyed. Last one is parallel.

"Stefania Minks is most famously remembered for her comedic talents and powerful soprano that made her a favorite in musical films of the early 1930s. So why does she appear pictured in stereographs attributed to The Caterpillar Ballet, from a time period at least eighty years behind her? Some believe this was a publicity stunt or homage to the original production, in the form of an affordable amusement during the Great Depression. But this doesn't explain how she, or anyone, knew of the mysterious show, and many argue that it's unlikely this would hold any attention compared to the ubiquity and affordability of trips to the cinema. A more compelling theory is that she appeared in a revival of The Caterpillar Ballet itself, and that perhaps the show is still in production even now..."

Native people, by definition, are intricately connected to the land. And there is no more indigenous native people than Palestinians. [Palestine] is at the intersection of continents. Even birds – 500 million birds – pass through Palestine on annual migrations from Africa to Eurasia. Humans also migrated through this country. So actually, those of you who are not African, you are Palestinian because you came through Palestine when you went out to Europe and other places. This juncture of continents also was important historically, because it was the first place that humans went from hunter-gatherer to agricultural communities. This happened about 12,000 years ago in a place called the ‘Fertile Crescent’, which includes Palestine. This is where we first domesticated things like wheat, lentils, barley, chickpeas… hummus, you must have had hummus. Even in the Bible it says “the land of milk and honey,” right? So it has never been a desert, so to speak – it's a very rich, beautiful country.
They lived in relative harmony with nature for thousands of years. Scientists and archaeologists and so forth describe this area as the beginning of so-called ‘civilisation’. Because hunter-gatherer [communities] couldn't support a large number of people – they were mostly nomadic, running around to where they could find things to eat and drink and stuff like that. Whereas when we became agricultural communities – [when we] domesticated plants and animals – we settled down, so population could grow, and we could have things like villages and towns. And that's why we find, for example, Jericho is the oldest continuously inhabited town on Earth. In these 12,000 years, once we had agriculture we had time on our hands, so communities started inventing things like religions and art and music and law, and the alphabet was invented here. That's the beginning of civilisation. And we as Palestinians are very proud of being part of this history.  – Mazin
