Wat Arun a.ka. the Temple of Dawn 🌅 Beautiful but could be better if there were no repairing works going on. Planned to be there by dawn but had to visit it earlier as the Grand Palace closes early during the mourning period and I see that I might be able slot in two other nearby attractions. Unexpected really. And the other unexpected part was most of the temples/wat around Bangkok were under construction. Bad timing! 😪 Wat Arun is named after Aruna, the Indian God of Dawn. It is located on the side of Chao Phraya River. “Despite the name, the most spectacular view of the glittering monument can be seen from the east side of the river at sunset, when the spires of Wat Arun make an impressive silhouette against the skyline.” Architecture was amazing! The tower is decorated with ceramic tiles and porcelain mosaic all around, and it has super steep steps that you can go up and check out the scenery by the river. Boat ride was 3baht from Tha Tien Pier and the entrance fee was 50bath if I remember correctly. It has quite a few sections so best to go when you don’t have a packed schedule. (at Wat Arun)
