Exclusive Interview with the Cast of 'The Gallows'
Looking through my vast collection of movie interviews, I came across this one which I did with the cast of “The Gallows.” Released back in 2015, it is a found footage horror film written and directed by Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff, and it opens up on a production of a play called, coincidentally, “The Gallows” which was done at Beatrice High School back in 1993. Everything looks to be going…

Rating console/Handheld names that I remember starting with:
Family Computer or Famicom/Nintendo Entertainment System or NES: Good names, famicom rolls off the tongue better but NES is clear and cut what it is 9/10
Super Famicom/Super Nintendo Entertainment System or SNES: Same as above, a little more silly but hey the jump from 8 bit to 16/32 bit made it really accurate. Yeah this sure was super. 10/10
Nintendo 64: Little confusing because Nintendo existed way longer than 64 years at that point and it wasn't the 64th released item from them but 7/10 for revolutionizing gaming I suppose
Nintendo Gamecube: 11/10. The perfect name. That sure was a cube and it sure did let you play games
Nintendo Wii: I don't like that, it's dumb. I guess the premise is WE play games together but that's a stretch 5/10
Nintendo Wii U: 2/10. I will not explain further
Nintendo Switch: Perfect name again, 11/10. You switched between playing on TV or on the go on a dime. Nailed it
Nintendo Switch 2: 11/10 Yeah that sure is the successor to the Switch. I think Nintendo may have locked themselves in a box with the Switch because you can't really go a step above a hybrid console/handheld but at least the box is nice
Onto Nintendo's handheld!
The Gameboy: Well it games and boys come in all shapes and sizes 8/10
The Gameboy Pocket: Confusing because the Gameboy could already fit in a pocket 5/10
The Gameboy Color: 8/10. It had colors and was still a gameboy
The Gameboy Advance: It sure was c: 9/10
The Gameboy Advance SP: I don't know what SP standed for and at this point I am too afraid to ask 6/10
The Gameboy Micro: Fuck that was small even for my child size hands when I was a child. 10/10 for accurate name
Nintendo DS: Dual-Screens. 10/10
Nintendo DS Lite: I never had one actually, I had the original but it was lighter from the looks of it, 10/10
Nintendo DSi: I now only realize the i stood for internet. Huh. 10/10
Nintendo DSiXL: On thin fucking ice 9/10
Nintendo 3DS: Stupid gimmick and definitely not the 3rd generation in the DS line. 8/10 because it is clever name pun
Nintendo 3DS XL: sigh. 7/10
Nintendo 2DS: Removing the 3D and going backwards and naming it the 2DS? I respect the hustle, still dumb though. 6/10
New Nintendo 3DS/3DS XL: hate. All of my hate. 3/10 (I have one but the name is stupid, I'm sorry)
New Nintendo 2DS XL: HATE. 2/10
Onto to Sony Console/Handhelds:
Playstation: 10/10. You stationed it by your TV and played games. Good name c:
Playstation 2: 10/10. That sure is the sequel to the Playstation 1
Playstation 3: 10/10. That sure is the sequel to the Playstation 2
Playstation 4: 10/10. That sure is the sequel to the Playstation 3
Playstation 5: 10/10. That sure is the sequel to the Playstation 4
Playstation Portable: 10/10. That sure is Sony's Playstation you can take with you on the go
PSP Go: 3/10. It was already on the go, come on
Playstation Vita: 5/10. I don't know what vita means
Playstation Q: 1/10. It's not a 0/10 because the Q is accurate. It stands for QuestionMark.
Onto Microsoft consoles! (They have no handhelds, Game Pass doesn't count)
Xbox: 9/10. It had an X on it, it was like the dark estranged sibling that showed up one day. Being it's first it had to be accurate and it definitely was
Xbox 360: uhhhhhh 7/10? I think the 360 was something Xbox around the globe because of Xbox Live or something. I'll be generous
Xbox One: Not for this little shit though. 2/10. I understand the premise. Xbox all in One. But it's a stupid name
Xbox Series S: You're killing me Smalls, 2/10
Xbox Series X: YOU'RE KILLING ME SMALLS, 2/10

‘SNL 1975’ Finds Its Garrett Morris, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase And John Belushi
By Justin Kroll, Anthony D'Alessandro January 30, 2024 10:00am
Tumblr media
Lamorne Morris playing Garrett Morris, Dylan O’Brien playing Dan Aykroyd, Cory Michael Smith playing Chevy Chase and Matt Wood playing John Belushi
EXCLUSIVE: Lamorne Morris, Dylan O’Brien, Cory Michael Smith and Matt Wood have joined the cast of Sony Pictures’ SNL 1975 that will be directed by Jason Reitman and based on the real-life behind the scenes accounts of the opening night of Saturday Night Live. Morris will play Garrett Morris, O’Brien will play Dan Aykroyd, Smith will play Chevy Chase, and Wood will play Belushi. The original screenplay is written by Reitman and Gil Kenan.
On October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television forever. SNL 1975 is the true story of what happened behind the scenes that night in the moments leading up to the first broadcast of NBC’s SNL. It depicts the chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, counting down the minutes in real time to the infamous words, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”
The screenplay is based on an extensive series of interviews conducted by Reitman and Kenan with all the living cast members, writers and crew. Reitman, Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, Erica Mills and Peter Rice are producing.
Morris can currently be seen in FX’s fifth season of Noah Hawley’s hit drama series Fargo as North Dakota Deputy Witt Farr. He joined the cast of Netflix’s Unstable for season two opposite Rob Lowe. Prior to this, he starred as the titular lead in the hybrid live-action/animated Hulu series Woke, inspired by the life and art of cartoonist Keith Knight.
O’Brien was most recently starring in Ponyboi, which premiered as one of ten films in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. Up next, he will be seen in the feature films Caddo Lake, from the writing-directing team of Logan George and Celine Held and producer M. Night Shyamalan, and Anniversary, a thriller co-starring Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, Zoey Deutch and Phoebe Dynevor. His other credits include Searchlight feature Not Okay from writer-director Quinn Shephard, the critically-acclaimed crime drama The Outfit, opposite Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutch, and Johnny Flynn; Paramount’s Love and Monsters and the popular Maze Runner franchise
Best known for his role on as the Riddler on the popular Fox series Gotham, Smith can currently be seen as Julianne Moore’s son in Todd Haynes’ May December. He most recently starred as Varian Fry in Anna Winger’s limited series Transatlantic opposite Gillian Jacobs and Corey Stoll for Netflix. Smith has also worked with Todd Haynes in both Carol (as private investigator Tommy Tucker) and Wonderstruck.
Wood has appeared in the original Broadway cast of Spongebob Squarepants and as husky kid icon Augustus Gloop in the Broadway First National Tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Television credits include Law and Order: SVU, Instinct and Difficult People.
Morris is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, The Lede Company, and Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light. O’Brien is repped by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, Principal Entertainment LA, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark. Smith is repped by Circle of Confusion. Wood is repped by BRS/Gage Talent Agency.

Five headcanons from the obligatory sugar daddy Tim/sugar baby Kon AU for Plot Bunny, which may or may not all make it into the actual fic itself. Headcanons are slightly leaned towards Kon’s powers because Plot Bunny was specifically interested in my headcanons for those in this AU, but also including Tim being a useless bisexual.
Kon brags constantly about the things his TTK does that are either Superman-esque abilities or that he thinks are either impressive or flashy enough to pass for impressive. He does not think to brag about things like “technically I have a 360-degree field of perception”, because he’s like “well it only works if nothing’s flying or hovering and it’s not like vision, so it’s just whatever” as opposed to being like “most things/people cannot fly or hover and it also accounts for things like people hiding behind cover, so actually it’s real fucking useful, isn’t it”. Frequently he just doesn’t think to mention little utility-specific uses of his powers at all, in fact. No, this acid isn’t touching him, he can be acidproof if he wants. No, he can’t actually choke on anything. Yeah, he can set bones and relocate dislocations on himself and others without needing an X-ray or an MRI involved. Sure, he could just stop somebody’s heart, but why would he??
Tim has gotten out of the habit of a lot of his hobbies in favor of Robin-ing. Robbies. He has Robbies now, not hobbies. It’s not like he never picks up a camera or a skateboard or a video game anymore, just . . . well . . . like, not never, that’s all. He’s pretty sure he touched his skateboard last week? When he . . . moved it to the other corner while he was cleaning his room . . . uh. Well. Still counts, right??
Kon has much better fine motor control over his TTK than he usually bothers to demonstrate in the field because he actually spends a lot of his time bored and understimulated in a lab environment, so he just fucks around with it to entertain himself. For him, it’s an extension of his sense of touch, which makes him incredibly tactile as a person. But he also thinks it might be a little weird how tactile he is compared to other people, so he is much likelier to be petting the soft silky thing with his TTK than his actual, oh, I don’t know, hands? Because people don’t even notice when it’s his TTK, obviously, but they definitely notice when he's doing it with his hands. He actually does a lot of little things with his TTK that people don’t usually pick up on, because it’s just things like adjusting crooked frames and plucking lint off people’s clothes and fixing their hair or tucking their shirt tags into their collars and picking inconvenient locks, and if Tim knew Kon could do that kind of thing so subtly and easily, he would immediately lose his ever-loving mind about it. And also teach him how to pick pockets and crack safes, probably. Kon, obliviously, does not realize just how fucking useful those little things could actually be in hero-ing, because to him they're just normal little tricks he can just do whenever, not anything special or impressive. And like, why would he pick the lock when he could just punch the door down? Superman would punch the door down, right? And punching the door down looks cooler! So obviously he's gonna do that!
Tim accidentally developed his initial crush on Kon via constant exposure through stupid teen magazine posters. He will swear on his life it started when they first met and fought supervillains together, but no, it was definitely that Kon was hot in those stupid cheesy posters that Tim kept running into while he did research on the new kid in the superhero community. Also he read so many of those lame tabloid interviews. Just . . . so, so many. Ugh. And he actually does keep up on Kon's Twitter and probably his Insta too.
Kon absolutely accidentally holds himself back from his full potential as a superhero without really realizing it because he thinks “what would Superman do?” while mostly knowing Superman through hearsay, information uploads from biased sources, and what few facets of his personality Clark is actually willing to show him. So he has a very skewed image of him, obviously, and is trying to grow up and be a person Clark isn't and no one really could be. But Kon identifies himself as Superboy because he doesn’t have anything else he knows how to be, and Superboy came from Superman, so he concentrates less on certain aspects of his powers and more on the Kryptonian-imitating ones. Again: he could just unlock the door, but Superman would punch it, right? Right??

Letter from George Washington to the President of Congress in Support of Service of Elizabeth Burgin Regarding the Request for Rations
Record Group 360: Records of the Continental and Confederation Congresses and the Constitutional ConventionSeries: Papers of the Continental CongressFile Unit: Letters from General George Washington, Commander in Chief of the Army
Head Quarters Morristown 312
25th Decr. 1779
Sir
I have the honor to lay before your Excellency the representation of a certain Elizabeth Burgin late an inhabitant of New York. From the testimony of different persons and particularly many of our own officers who have returned from captivity it would appear that she has been indefatigable for the relief of the prisoners and in measures for facilitating their escape. in consequence of this conduct she incurred the suspicions of the enemy and was finally compelled to make her escape under the distressed circumstances which she describes. I could not forbear recommending to consideration a person who has risqued so so much and been so friendly to our officers and privates, especially as to this we must attribute her present situation.
From the sense I entertained of her services and sufferings I have ventured to take the liberty of directing the commissary at Philadelphia to furnish her and her children with rations till the pleasure of Congress could be known. Congress will judge of its justice and propriety and how much she may be entitled to further notice.
I have the honor to be with the greatest respect
Your Excellency's
most obt. servt.
Go Washington
His Excellency
Saml. Huntington Esqr

Buz Carpenter sent me this email. This email is for Habu’s the people who flew the SR-71 or worked on the airplane members of the Blackbird Association
To All Habus - Pilots, RSOs, Maintenance, wing Support, Tankers crews,
contractors, Government civilians, & Families now that we have concluded
with a spectacular 25th and final reunion in Reno
What a fitting salute to our legacy and our life long friends. At the
reunion you were introduced to the important role our Blackbird symposia
play in the out reach programs of museums that possess any type of
Blackbird. There has been an out pouring of requests from museums to come and
provide them a Blackbird symposia. This is not a final commitment but
an assessment of interest and possible commitment so that we can judge our
capabilities to support these museums with our classic excellence we are
known for.
It’s about upcoming events in the Habu world in the next two years if you have questions or concerns and you don’t have Buz’s email send them to me and I will forward it to him. My email is [email protected]. In 2025 we will start out with our Father's Day Weekend in McMinnville
at the Evergreen Air Museum. 13 -15 June 2025. This will be our normal
format with Friday Youth outreach day, Saturday & Sunday a series of panels,
the 360 degree cockpit demonstration, engaging guests around the aircraft,
possibly open cockpit viewing, and some type of Saturday night activities to
be determined. August 8-10 We'll be at the SAC Museum for our normal
format among the brand new RECON display area. A hotel has been already
determined. There has not been any Blackbird activities here for over 10
years. If you remember the SAC Museum gave a wonderful presentation at the reunion.
2026 will be a very special year celebrating many firsts at three museums.
The National Museum of the USAF in Dayton will hold a three day gathering in
March celebrating 50 years since setting the bicentennial aircraft records
which are still the standing aircraft records today. Activities will include
panels, presentations, cockpit viewing most likely, and some type of
Saturday night activity TBD.
The Royal Air Force Museum at Duxford, The American Pavilion , will host
a 50th anniversary of the first SR-71 recon mission flown out of Mildenhall
in 1976. They plan to dovetail this with the major air show at Farnborough
towards the end of July 2026. They want to market this as the largest HABU gathering
in Europe since our detachment shut down in 1990. This is in the early stages
of discussion and they are looking at ways to support us as the airfare will be
high during that time of year. These supports are yet to be determined.
There maybe a limit here as to supported participants but not attendees.
Rounding out the year will be a special symposia at Robins Air Museum
featuring aircraft 958 that Al Joersz set the Current Absolute Speed Record
in for our bicentennial in July 1976. They put on quite the celebration
for our 45th anniversary. Exact date to be determined
2027 The Air Zoo is looking to host again one of their great SR-71
symposias but this time they are entertaining the idea of expanding this
into a full weekend Blackbird Midwest gathering with multiple activities to
be determined.
Jerry & I are particularly interested in your feedback to understand
what we might be able to support as a group. Your response will show us
interest and support.
Buz Carpenter
I can forward any concerns or questions that anyone might have about the upcoming events. Linda Sheffield.

Geographical Narratives: Mapping Leon S. Kennedy's Origins
-edit 20:45 GMT+8 2025/02/01-
To those who have sent me negative messages criticizing my use of AI: Well, yes, I use AI tools like ChatGPT Pro, Claude Pro and Perplexity Pro to assist me in analyzing and writing, along with resources like Google, Quora, YouTube, Reddit, extensively playing the games myself, and even drawing from my personal experiences, movies I've watched, and the knowledge I've gained over the years. I studied film production in my college with a focus on screenwriting and directing. I gather information, analyze it, and synthesize ideas to create something meaningful—and I don't see why that's an issue.
If you lack the initial passion, imagination or knowledge about Resident Evil, NOT A SINGLE TOOL—AI or otherwise—will enable you to create substantial content. I create this fanfic primarily to entertain myself and to share it with those who might also find resonance in it. I’m relatively late to the franchise (Oct 2024, yeah I know, what took me so long?), and since I don’t have close friends to discuss the games with, writing fanfic allows me to explore and connect with the world of Resident Evil in my own way. With a full-time job, I also use AI tools to enhance efficiency in my leisure time, so I can focus on the parts I enjoy most—crafting stories and delving into the lore. For me, it’s about enjoying the process and connecting with others who share the same passion. The fact that I leverage modern tools and technology to enhance my writing and analysis is a choice I make, and it doesn't concern you if you choose not to explore or utilize these resources yourself. Instead of focusing on how something is made, perhaps consider the effort and thought behind it. Innovation and creativity mean adapting to new tools and methods. Using AI—or any resource—doesn’t devalue the work; it amplifies what’s possible. And if we don’t see eye to eye, that’s fine. Party's over and the door’s over there if you need it. 🫶🚪

Ok pookies, here we go:
I. Geographical and Cultural Setting
Indianapolis as Leon's Hometown Indianapolis (population 740,000 in 1998) offers a compelling contrast to Raccoon City's metropolitan density (population 1.5 million). With its stable Midwestern character, open layout, and moderate pace, Indianapolis is an ideal environment for the Mitchell family's middle-class lifestyle. Its educational resources and affordable living costs made it a logical place for Leon to grow up in a foster home after the loss of his family.
The distance between Indianapolis and Raccoon City—about 360 miles (580 km)—adds to the narrative. It is far enough to signify a fresh start for a 21-year-old rookie like Leon, yet close enough to make the move practical. This geographical separation reinforces his desire for career advancement, while subtly highlighting the pull of Raccoon City's opportunities, including the prestigious Raccoon Police Department (RPD) and its elite S.T.A.R.S. unit.
Raccoon City's Population Paradox: Why 100,000 Doesn't Add Up With a population of 1.5 million, Raccoon City stands as a major regional metropolis—smaller than Chicago (2.8 million) but significantly larger than Indianapolis. This population size positions it as a city significant enough to be deeply entwined with the operations of the Umbrella Corporation.
Setting aside the official game canon, which states that Raccoon City had a population of 100,000, but why did I estimate it to be around 1.5 million? Let’s start with its ultimate fate—being wiped out by a nuclear strike.
For the government to justify deploying nuclear weapons, Raccoon City would need to have a population of at least one million. This threshold aligns with military decision-making logic, as the use of such extreme measures typically requires a significant threat level, both in terms of the scale of the outbreak and its potential to spread. A city with a smaller population might not warrant such drastic action, as conventional containment methods would likely be considered sufficient. However, if Raccoon City were home to a million or more people, the risk of the virus spreading beyond the city limits would be much higher, making a nuclear strike a more viable last resort to prevent a global catastrophe.
To determine a reasonable population estimate, we can look at comparable real-world cities that fit Raccoon City’s urban and geographic profile.
Bridging the Gap: A Tale of Two Cities The use of both Chicago and Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area (MSA) as references helps resolve the tension between:
Chicago for the canon requirement of location: Midwest city
Pittsburgh MSA for the actual game portrayal in the natural landscape: mountainous (Arklay) and the hills in the city
Pittsburgh MSA for the assumed population
Both cities for the Neo-Classical heritage of architectures
Both cities for the urban development scale
Though classified as a Midwestern city, Raccoon City's geography and economic characteristics diverge significantly from regional norms. Unlike the flat plains typical of the Midwest, the city is nestled within the dramatic Arklay Mountains, whose elevation changes and natural isolation evoke Pittsburgh's position within the Appalachian foothills. This unique setting provides the city with a scale akin to Chicago (the Midwest’s largest metropolis), while its geography amplifies a sense of both grandeur and seclusion. The Arklay Mountains, combined with frequent overcast skies, winter fog, and regular rainfall, create an atmosphere of foreboding—a natural curtain for Umbrella’s clandestine operations. This ominous tone, blending isolation with unease, tragically mirrors the fate that would ultimately befall the city.
II. Urban Development and Visual Identity
Architectural Heritage and Evolution Raccoon City’s iconic police department building, converted from a museum, reflects the rich architectural heritage of both Pittsburgh and Chicago, cities that flourished during the late 19th-century industrial boom. Both cities are known for their grand civic and cultural buildings in the Neo-Classical and Beaux-Arts styles—impressive stone structures with ornate facades, symmetrical designs, and elaborate interior layouts. Pittsburgh’s historic architecture emphasizes heavy stonework and Romanesque Revival influences, while Chicago, though also home to many classical structures, became a pioneer in steel-frame skyscrapers and modern urban development.
Raccoon City’s architectural identity appears to be a fusion of these influences, combining the monumental grandeur of Pittsburgh’s historic buildings with Chicago’s urban scale and development patterns.
Modern Development and Infrastructure The Bright Raccoon 21st Century Plan transformed what was once a "sleepy country city" into a thriving metropolis of over a million residents. This is particularly evident in the remakes of Resident Evil 2 & 3, where the city demonstrates comprehensive urban infrastructure:
An extensive subway system with multiple lines connecting diverse districts
Modern commercial districts featuring impressive high-rises
The grand-scale police headquarters housing elite units like S.T.A.R.S.
Advanced medical facilities including multiple major hospitals
Various entertainment venues including shopping centers and sports facilities
Sophisticated underground networks originally built for municipal services
Urban Zones and Districts This rapid expansion created distinct urban zones:
A modern downtown core dominated by Umbrella's corporate presence
Historic districts preserving the city's industrial heritage
Diverse residential areas reflecting growing social stratification
Extensive suburban developments reaching toward the Arklay Mountains
Research and development districts housing Umbrella's facilities
III. Visual Representation and Media Adaptations
Film Adaptations and Metropolitan Character The city's metropolitan character is most prominently captured in film adaptations, particularly Resident Evil: Apocalypse, which utilized Toronto's urban landscape. The choice of Toronto as a filming location provided the perfect backdrop with its:
Impressive skyline reflecting modern urbanization
Dense commercial districts showing economic vitality
Sophisticated infrastructure networks
Mix of historical and contemporary architecture
The subsequent shift in visual representation seen in more recent adaptations, such as Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) filmed in Sudbury, presents a notably different scale that contrasts with this established metropolitan image. However, the grand urban scale established through the main game series and earlier adaptations remains the dominant image in collective fan consciousness, better supporting the city's role as a major hub of Umbrella Corporation's operations.
Underground Infrastructure Network The city's elaborate subterranean networks serve multiple purposes:
Original municipal service tunnels from the industrial era
Modern subway system connecting major districts
Repurposed sections serving as Umbrella's hidden facilities
Complex drainage systems utilizing the natural river convergence
Emergency infrastructure incorporated into older networks
IV. Population Impact and Catastrophic Scale
Metropolitan Dynamics Raccoon City's population created perfect conditions for both Umbrella's control and the eventual catastrophe. This scale was large enough to justify extensive viral research facilities and enable rapid infection spread through dense urban areas, yet small enough for Umbrella to maintain significant influence over local politics, economy, and public safety.
Scale of Infection and Difficulty of Containment The destruction of Raccoon City with a nuclear strike seems somewhat less justified given its official lore population of only 100,000, as the government might have had alternative methods to contain the outbreak, such as:
Bioweapon neutralization – Deploying gas or specialized vaccines to eliminate infected individuals without obliterating the entire city.
Precision airstrikes and ground force operations – Sending special forces (e.g., U.S.S. or military task forces) to conduct targeted strikes and systematic eradication.
Stricter military quarantine – Completely sealing off the city, allowing the virus and infected individuals to die out or minimizing the risk of external spread.
However, the government ultimately chose nuclear destruction, likely due to several factors:
The severity of the virus – The T-virus is extremely difficult to eradicate. Even a single infected crow or rat escaping could lead to a nationwide outbreak. Thus, even for a city with only 100,000 residents, the government could not afford to take any chances.
Time constraints – The military and federal authorities may have believed that containment efforts would be too slow compared to the rate of viral spread, making a swift and decisive solution necessary.
Political motives – Umbrella Corporation had deep ties within the government and may have influenced this decision to cover up its involvement.
Comparison 100,000 Population (Official Setting):
A city of this scale is relatively small, making quarantine measures easier to enforce.
If the military intervenes swiftly, targeted airstrikes and bioweapons could potentially contain the outbreak without resorting to nuclear weapons.
However, considering the virus's incubation period and its potential transmission through animal carriers, the risk remains high, and the government might still opt for extreme measures.
1.5 Million Population:
This is now a large metropolitan area, making containment significantly more difficult.
If 1.5 million people descend into panic and chaos, the government would struggle to maintain order, as societal collapse would happen rapidly.
A larger number of infected individuals increases the likelihood of military quarantine failure, drastically raising the risk of viral spread.
This makes nuclear strikes a more "rational" choice, as traditional methods (quarantine, airstrikes, bioweapons) may no longer guarantee complete eradication of the virus.
Disaster Implications The city's population density proved crucial in several aspects:
Infrastructure Impact: Dense population networks facilitated rapid viral transmission
Crisis Management: Urban density accelerated infection rates beyond containment capacity
Evacuation Complexity: The sheer number of residents overwhelmed evacuation procedures
Federal Response: The risk of 1.5 million potential infected spreading beyond city limits justified the extreme measure of nuclear sterilization
Scale of Catastrophe The population size of 1.5 million directly influenced the disaster's progression:
Rapid viral spread through densely populated areas
Overwhelmed emergency services and healthcare facilities
Failed evacuation attempts due to massive population movement
Justified federal government's extreme containment measures
Created a crisis too large for local control but contained enough for complete sanitization
How well-known was the Raccoon City incident internationally? According to official lore, the Raccoon City incident was partially exposed to the world, but much of the truth was concealed.
In Resident Evil 4 & 4R, when the U.S. president’s daughter, Ashley, is kidnapped, Leon is introduced as a survivor of the Raccoon City incident, indicating that high-ranking government officials were aware of the event.
In Resident Evil 5, the formation of the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) suggests that the tragedy of Raccoon City became a catalyst for global action, meaning at least some nations knew about its severity.
In Resident Evil 6, bioterrorism had become a worldwide crisis, implying that the Raccoon City incident was the starting point. However, both the government and Umbrella likely hid key details from the public, preventing it from becoming fully known as a global catastrophe.
V. Umbrella Corporation's Strategic Operations
Control and Corporate Influence Raccoon City's size proved perfect for Umbrella's operations:
Large enough to justify extensive research facilities and corporate presence
Small enough to maintain significant political influence
Complex enough to hide suspicious activities
Isolated enough to contain potential incidents
Developed enough to support advanced research facilities
Historical Context and Operations In 1968, the same year Umbrella was founded, Leon's father joined the company's logistics brach as a mid-level manager in Indianapolis. By 1985, his discovery of suspicious shipping patterns led to the tragic elimination of Leon's family, demonstrating Umbrella's ability to quietly remove threats while maintaining its legitimate facade.
Strategic Geographical Separation The calculated distance between Umbrella's research facilities in Raccoon City and its distribution center in Indianapolis represented more than a mere logistical decision—it was a deliberate corporate strategy of calculated compartmentalization. By establishing physical and operational distance between its most sensitive functions, Umbrella created a sophisticated buffer against potential external scrutiny.
Indianapolis offered an ideal distribution hub: centrally located, with robust transportation infrastructure that allowed seamless nationwide pharmaceutical product movement. Meanwhile, Raccoon City's isolated topography provided the perfect environment for confidential research, shielded by complex geographical features and an urban landscape marked by industrial decline and bureaucratic opacity.
This geographical strategy served multiple purposes: it dispersed corporate risk, complicated potential investigative trails, and maintained the appearance of a conventional pharmaceutical enterprise. Mid-level managers like Leon's father, positioned within these carefully constructed operational networks, remained vulnerable yet critically positioned—close enough to observe irregularities, yet expendable enough to be silenced without widespread alarm.
The separation was not just about efficiency, but survival—both of the corporation's interests and its most dangerous secrets.
Threat Neutralization Protocol The choice of middle management in logistics rather than pharmaceutical executives as targets reveals Umbrella's calculated approach. Unlike high-profile executives who mainly dealt with paperwork, mid-level logistics managers had direct access to physical evidence of suspicious activities. Their position made them more likely to notice irregularities while being easier to "handle" without drawing attention. Their relatively lower profile in the corporate hierarchy meant their sudden "unfortunate accidents" would raise fewer questions than the death of a senior executive.
Economic and Social Contrasts The economic and social dynamics between these cities in the 1980s-90s prove revealing. Indianapolis, with its stable social order and emerging status as a logistics hub, served perfectly for Umbrella's legitimate operations. Its straightforward crime patterns, community oversight, and robust public security made it ideal for maintaining a clean corporate image. Meanwhile, Raccoon City struggled with industrial decline: unemployment, deteriorating infrastructure, organized crime, and corruption. These conditions, combined with its isolated geography and complex underground infrastructure, made it perfect for Umbrella's questionable research activities.
VI. Impact on Leon's Character Development
Career Choice Context The contrast between Indianapolis and Raccoon City shaped Leon's career aspirations. This is particularly evident in the Resident Evil 2 Remake, where his reference to Raccoon City as a "big city" reveals much about his background:
Tumblr media
This perception is particularly evident in a key moment from Resident Evil 2 Remake, where Leon tells Claire "It's a big city...there has to be [survivors]." This seemingly simple line reveals much about his background and character.
Why? Allow me to shed more light on this 👇 Moving from Indianapolis to Raccoon City reflects:
The genuine awe of someone stepping into a larger metropolitan area
The optimism of a rookie officer facing his first major assignment
The appeal of joining a more prestigious police department
His untested perspective is shaped by:
Moving from a modest Midwestern city to a major urban center
The allure of RPD's specialized units like S.T.A.R.S.
The promise of career advancement and new opportunities
Psychological Journey As a 21-year-old rookie, Leon embodied a mix of optimism and naivety. His outsider perspective made him uniquely observant of the city's contrasts—its modern developments overshadowed by systemic corruption, its bustling streets tinged with unease, and its apparent prosperity marred by corporate control. His first day would transform this optimistic rookie into a hardened survivor, marking the beginning of his relentless quest for truth and justice.
VII. Conclusion
The contrasting dynamics between Indianapolis and Raccoon City form a rich backdrop for Leon's journey. The geographical and social differences between these cities not only shape his character development but also underscore the broader themes of ambition, resilience, and the devastating consequences of unchecked power. The tragic irony of Leon unknowingly walking into the same darkness that had changed his life thirteen years earlier adds a profound layer to his story of personal growth and determination.
The scale and complexity of Raccoon City, with its population of 1.5 million, proved to be the perfect setting for both Umbrella's machinations and Leon's transformation from an optimistic rookie to a hardened survivor. This carefully constructed urban environment, with its blend of historic architecture and modern development, its extensive infrastructure networks, and its hidden facilities, created an ideal stage for the tragic events that would unfold during that fateful September of 1998.
--------
Note: This analysis combines canonical information with real-world contexts to create a coherent background setting for my ongoing Resident Evil fanfiction "The Berthing". By examining the real-world geography and socioeconomic conditions of Indianapolis and Pittsburgh in the late 1960s-90s, I aim to construct a plausible foundation for Leon's journey from his childhood tragedy to his fateful assignment in Raccoon City. This research particularly supports the Mitchell family arc in my story, where Leon grows up in a middle-class Indianapolis foster home before his eventual move to Raccoon City. As a non-American citizen and only been a traveler so far, I've researched these locations and their cultural aspects carefully, but I welcome insights and discussions from readers familiar with these places. Your perspective would be valuable in enhancing the story's authenticity. Lastly, I'd apologize for any grammar or typo mistakes since English is not my native language!

Hehe I noticed!! I’ve been wanting to request this for a while 🙈 I’ve entertained the idea, pre serum daddy Steve, but when he comes back to his little his post serum Steve and he helps his little try and understand why he was gone and what happened. I loved you’re latest fic btw 💕

A/N: Oh wow this is SUCH a sweet concept & I hope I've done it some angsty-fluffy justice!! Its rather similar to an idea I've had for a while where modern era little finds Steve's old pictures and is amazed that he used to be so tiny 😮 Maybe I'll write that as a sibling to this! Also I know this is not really how things went in the movie considering, you know, the world war going on, but who cares!! This is my fic, I make my own timeline!! Enjoy dear 💕💕
Daddy’s coming home.
After what felt like eons alone at the apartment while Steve underwent his procedure, he was finally fully recovered and coming back home. With Bucky already off fighting abroad, you’d had nobody to take care of you while Steve was gone, so you’d had to stay big all week. You were excited for Steve, that he’d been given this incredible opportunity and finally been allowed to join the army, but you couldn’t deny that you were excited to have him back. Days of acting as the adult while simultaneously fretting over Steve’s wellbeing, you were ready to finally let yourself be his little baby again.
As the hour drew nearer, you found yourself getting smaller and smaller the more excited you got. You didn’t know what sort of state Steve would be in after such an experimental procedure, so you’d tried your best to keep the apartment tidy for his return, and by the time you were finished dusting, you were just about ready to dive headfirst into little space. You were pacing back and forth across the carpet, fiddling with your fingers and chewing on your shirt sleeve, when you finally heard the long awaited familiar sound of Steve’s key in the lock. Your head perked up and you ran to the doorway, practically vibrating with anticipation at seeing your favorite person in the world again.
Except, the man that entered your apartment was NOT Steve Rogers.
At least, not the one you knew. Your Steve was small - pocket sized as you liked to call him. You could look him right in the eyes and hold his hand whenever you walked without having to reach up. This man nearly filled the door frame, blocking out the afternoon sun with his figure. The light cast his face in shadows, and you could barely make out his features. You shrinked back from the doorway with trepidation and fear as the man crouched towards you.
“Hey baby, don’t be scared please,” you heard him say in a voice that sounded like Steve, but different, like it was rumbling from deeper inside. “It's me. It’s daddy.”
As he knelt in front of you, his features came into focus, and you saw a face that looked like Steve’s. But you just couldn’t believe it. You were already so little and sensitive, you weren’t ready to take in his new appearance, this new situation you found yourself in. So you ran.
You ran down the hall into your bedroom, slamming the door behind you. Steve stood in the doorway, still as a statue. He hoped you wouldn’t react like this, but he knew you might. He knew how different everything had become in such a short amount of time. He knew that even though he was still the same man inside, that on the outside, he was almost unrecognizable. After the stress of procedure, testing, recovery, and the general 360 his life had taken, all Steve wanted was to cuddle you like he always did when one of you had a bad day, so he set out to follow you.
You were huddled under your blanket when you heard the knock on your door, and Steve’s deep voice followed.
“Baby, I know I look different, and you have every right to be hesitant. I just want you to know that it's still me in here, it's still your same old Stevie, okay? And I’ll be out here with open arms whenever you’re ready to see me again. I love you, angel.”
And with that, he retreated to his own room to unpack.
You stayed there curled up on your bed for hours, you lost track after you fell asleep and woke up to the sun fully set and the house shrouded in silence. Upon waking, you found yourself even smaller than you’d been earlier, your body and mind fully cemented in your coping mechanism for your protection. You squeezed your most precious stuffy to your chest, but all you really wanted now was Steve. Even the shirt you’d taken from his room after he left and wrapped around your pillow was starting not to smell like him anymore. You needed the real thing.
Is that really who was out there in the living room? Was the man who knocked on your door and told you he loved you really the same Steve that had left the apartment just days prior? He sounded an awful lot like Steve; you hadn’t gotten as good of a look at his face as you’d liked, but he sure looked like Steve too. Maybe it really was him. Maybe… there was only one way to find out.
Throwing off the blanket, you hesitantly tiptoed out of bed and quietly snuck towards your door, stuffy still clutched tightly in one hand. Opening the door, you made your way to the living room, where you saw the Big Steve Man sound asleep on the couch. That's when you really recognized him, his face relaxed, his body still curled up as if he didn’t take up the entire couch now anyways. His rhythmic breathing and faint snore was the soundtrack to every one of your dreams, you knew it better than anything in the world. So suddenly, you felt safe with this man, who you were now approximately 99% sure was indeed your Steve. You just needed him to pass one more test.
“Um.. hello daddy,” you whispered tentatively, which was surprisingly enough to rouse the large man.
He blinked his eyes a few times in the dark room, still not used to how well he could see now, and you quickly came into his focus. He wanted to scoop you up right then and there, smother you in kisses, and never let you go, but he knew to take things slowly now.
“Hello baby,” he said softly.
“It’s really you in there?” You asked quietly.
“It’s really me, baby. I promise.”
You slowly stepped towards him once, twice, until you were close enough to reach your free hand out to him, which he took in his. Even though his grasp now completely enveloped your entire hand, it was that same soft skin you knew and loved. Finally, you looked up into his unmistakable blue eyes, eyes you’d lost yourself in countless times, eyes that could pull you back from the brink of despair with just one glance. Yes, there he was. It was just like when you’d learned about how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly, they change their appearance, but retain the same heart and soul they’d been all along. That was Steve now, your butterfly.
“Do you want me to tell you all about it?” He asked, but you shook your head.
“Not yet. Just wanna cuddle with daddy,” you whispered, and as you let yourself fall into his open arms, Steve smiled. Just like he would always be your daddy, you would always be his little baby.

He really wants to comment on it, but doesn’t wanna bother you
I don’t mean that in a bad way! I just think that he finds it entertaining to see your mood and facial expressions shift around a lot
Like okay imagine you two parallel playing, both of you off in your own worlds
Kyle looks up at you to see you go from happy to frustrated to upset to shocked all in the span of a few seconds
He definitely finds it adorable and just basks in it by the side
Completely forgets what he was doing cause you’re just so gosh darn cute awwww
You were lying face down, arms holding you up, on his bed. You were tasked to make landscapes of any place but from different perspectives and views. To be honest, you were struggling a little bit. Backgrounds and scenery aren’t quite your strong points, but that didn’t mean you weren’t trying! You were lying down there, tongue poking out as you focused really hard to get the drawing looking at least a little bit realistically correct. You were real deep into it that you didn’t even realize Kyle was watching you until you heard a soft giggle in the back, which immediately made your head whip up. “Hmmm?” You hummed, questioning what he was laughing about. “Ah, it’s nothing.” He smiled at your curiosity. The look of amusement on his face was still there, so you had a hint of what was going on. “You’re just really pretty." You felt your cheeks heat up, giddily smiling to yourself as you felt your legs kicking back and forth in happiness. “Thank you…” You hummed. He only laughed more in return. “Don’t thank me.” He said, lifting your head up by the chin with his fingers as he placed a little kiss on your nose.
🍁 k. mccormick (wc: 360)
FINDS IT SO CUTE
but definitely teases you about it like
“You should take up acting, YN. You’re really good at changing emotions.”
Do you know how some people make facial expressions and random body movements for reference while drawing?
When he sees it for the first time, with no context whatsoever, he thought you got possessed or something CAUSE YOU WERE JUST FLAILING YOUR ARMS AROUND WHILE LOOKING INTENTLY AT THEM
I can just imagine him lying down, watching you drawing, while he’s kicking his feet in the air HEPL
You and your boyfriend, Kenny, were sat slumped against a wall in the back of some alleyway, spending your time together in the quiet where only sounds of passing cars, footsteps and chatter of pedestrians, and the soft winds blowing every now and then. You were getting into your drawings on your little sketchbook, moving from one doodle to the other and leaving many unfinished. Every couple of minutes, you’d revisit the other, but that was only if you were still up to it. Other than that, you had new ideas pulling you away from your drawings every other second. Kenny was playing with the hair that fell by the side of your face as you were doing your own business—twirling, braiding, and unfurling it over and over again. You stretched out your hand and formed it in a reached-out, grabbing motion, shifting it every so often to get a better view of what it looked like. Kenny watched you observing yourself in intrigue as well, resting his chin on your shoulder. As soon as you were done and about to get back to drawing, he lifted himself back up and started to play with your hair once more. While you were drawing out the hand same hand you motioned earlier, you felt a soft kiss on your cheek, which caught you off guard. You turned your head in Kenny's direction, giving him a look that asked, ‘Why?’ Not in a bad way, just out of curiosity. He shrugged in return, cupping your face in one hand with his fingers resting on both cheeks as he squeezed them. “Cutie.”
🎸 s. marsh (wc: 317)
He doesn’t pay much mind to it honestly
He sees it for the first time and thinks it’s kinda silly, but not much after that
He brings it up sometimes though like
“Oh, yeah, I think it’s funny how you’re really expressive.”
But really its not something that bothers him
If anything, he finds it really adorable sometimes, especially when you get a little too into the zone and you’re just changing expressions every millisecond
Honestly, I think it’s a neat little dynamic since you’re probably really bubbly while Stan’s more aloof
You and Stan were in your favorite corner of the world—Stark’s Pond. Okay, technically, it’s one of the farthest things from a corner, given that it’s a whole landscape, but it was a special place unbeknownst to many, especially people who aren’t from the small town of South Park. You two were sat on a bench by the pond, Stan playing the guitar cross-legged, and you were leaning towards it while drawing on your tablet. You hummed along with the songs he was playing, familiar to you as it was your relationship’s self-declared theme song. Your face was twisted in a pout, trying to get a small detail, but important (to you), correct. You clicked your tongue, flipping your canvas every so often to make sure it looked right or physically possible. You sighed, resting your body weight on Stan as he paused to look at you and your art’s progress. “Frustrated?” He hummed, putting his arm down so that it was more comfortable for you to lean onto him. “No,” you clicked your tongue. “Just need to get around this little part. Like, I can’t  draw feet for the life of me.” You sighed, tipping your head a little further as you ground into Stan's shoulder. He found himself giggling at you, patting your back, and giving you a little kiss on the cheek.

The best gaming machine is an X Box One.
This is not a matter for debate. It is a fact, and I have photographic evidence:
Tumblr media
That is my cat Luna, and that is where she spends most of her free time. The Xbox One is her favorite cat bed, and I have run extensive tests with other consoles.
The Xbox 360 has a similar shape, but a rougher texture. The PS2 is too small and lacks stability. The N64 is an awkward shape. And our computers are rendered unusable by her presence, leading to conflicts.
Only the Xbox One reliably produces chill gaming companionship. And I've taken heat into consideration - she will choose a turned off XBone over any turned on competitor. And she will choose it regardless of where the XBone is moved.
Which brings me to the crux of my current crisis. My husband has procured for me a new X Box (the series S). He's basically admitted to doing it so that he has the excuse to move the One into his office and get more quality time with the cat. This act of aggression is vile, but I have a plan - the series S doesn't have a disc drive, so as long as I insist on playing Xbone games on disc, I need the old machine and he cannot deprive me.
Unfortunately, I have a limited supply of games on disc and my first salvo has been an absolute miss. Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to provide me with at least 100 hours of entertainment, but I honestly just can't get into it. And ultimately, I believe that is what history will remember Cyberpunk 2077 for.

Publisher: Mojang AB / Xbox Game Studios / Sony Interactive Entertainment America / Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe Genre: Action-Adventure Theme: Fantasy Franchises: Minecraft Also known as: Minecraft Xbox One Edition / Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition / Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition Type: Crossover
Summary:
Minecraft is an open world, first-person, survival sandbox game, developed and published by Mojang. It was originally released in a pre-alpha state via the TIGSource forums on May 17, 2009, and was later hosted online for supported browsers before receiving a standalone release for PC, Mac, and Linux on June 30, 2010. The game would officially exit its Beta version on November 18, 2011, although major updates continue to be released. Since August 2011, a number of ports of the game have released for consoles and mobile devices.
Presented with a unique low-resolution "voxel" aesthetic (where everything is shaped using cubes), the game allows players to interact with a variety of different "blocks" in a procedurally-generated world. Along with both resource mining/gathering and item crafting (hence the game name), the game features exploration (with multiple biomes and locations), combat, and construction. In addition to the standard "Survival" mode, the game features a "Creative" mode that allows players to design environments with an unlimited amount of blocks at their disposal and no survival elements. The game supports online multiplayer and later supported numerous content packs (including new world/block textures and player skins, many of which are cross-promotions with other games and franchises).
Originally created by indie developer Markus "Notch" Persson (whose roles were later taken over by fellow indie developer Jens "Jeb" Bergensten), Minecraft was ported to numerous smartphones (originally known as Minecraft: Pocket Edition) and consoles (originally known as Minecraft: Console Edition, with the "Console" in the name being replaced by the console's name). On September 20, 2017, the game received a major "Better Together" update that merges the smartphone version with some console versions (including Windows 10, Xbox One, and later Nintendo Switch) together for a single multi-platform version (known as Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, with the original computer versions renamed to Minecraft: Java Edition) with all features accessible (including cross-platform multiplayer). Alternate editions include a multi-platform version for use in classroom settings (Minecraft: Education Edition), a cut-down version for small RaspberryPi microcomputers (Minecraft: Pi Edition), and a multi-platform version for use in China (Minecraft China).
The game has received a number of spin-offs, including the 2015 adventure game Minecraft: Story Mode (and its 2017 sequel), the 2020 dungeon crawler Minecraft: Dungeons, and the augmented-reality mobile game Minecraft Earth. As well, Minecraft's procedurally-generated sandbox elements would inspire many other games, in both 2D (such as Terraria and Starbound) and 3D (such as Dragon Quest Builders and LEGO Worlds).

Back in the 90s, the First Person Shooter genre was not in the center of the games industry yet. Gamers and mostly the Japanese market and developers were busily full of fighting games, RPGs, run and gun, adventures and platformers. It is common sense to say that the N64 was partially responsible for popularizing the FPS genre in the second half of the 90s, a genre that would explode just a few years in the future with Xbox and Microsoft's major franchise: the Halo series. On the 64 bit era, GoldenEye 007 set the landmark for what a shooter for home console could be. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil and the N64's Expansion Pak showed us what looked like a PC game running on a cartridge. Quake and Quake II are both competent conversions, being the latest almost an entire new game. 007: The World is Not Enough had several features and sometimes looked a cross-gen title with very competent presentation, made by the same team that did Duke Nukem 3D for the N64. Perfect Dark, for its turn, is absolutely the pinacle of tecnhical mastery in crafting games for its visual achievments, memorable single player and infinite possibilities in the combat simulator, or multiplayer. Doom 64 is now a cult classic but it is the same that it was: a very good and frantic game as well as very atmospheric experience in the mid 90s. It is interesting to note that no Japanese developer appears in this poll, illustrating the beginning movement for an era of more western oriented developers and games, which was the core of N64 most prominent games, aside from the ones developed by Nintendo themselves. At that moment, late 90s to early 2000s, the game's most successful franchises were from Japan. Years ahead, with the success of the Xbox 360 and PC Games with Steam and so, most powerful franchises are now Western or more western oriented. That scenario was kind of anticipated on the N64: it was a platform heavily based on games made by Western developers, aside those from Nintendo themselves and a few other exceptions. So, for this week's poll, we want to find out what is the best FPS for the Nintendo 64. From Iguana Entertainment and Eurocom to the absolute masters from id Software, passing off course by the mythical Rare, for sure the N64 was the best home console available at least for FPS games back then.

Reading the Käärijä Airbnb page is the best entertainment I've had in a while:
Tumblr media
First of all this profile picture kills me, but I don't believe for a second that he is the one actually running this. Also has he been in airbnb business for 9 years??? New Kääeijä lore? (i mean not surprised technically because he has investment housing)
Tumblr media
I love the fact that even when he is doing this fr he is still being goofy about it. At least we know he wrote this himself by the mistakes. So on brand. "have you ever think" my gos. Love how he wrote Malmi without capitalization.
Tumblr media
No carbon monoxide detector? Aijaijai Jere I thought you were responsible king. (Also no air conditioning or warming???)
Tumblr media
First of all it's so ironic that the silence DOESN'T start at 23:00, it would've been so iconic. Also Käärijä no pets or smoking.
Second of all: It's so funny to me that no parties are allowed in the crazy party cha cha cha man's house. No fun allowed lmoa. (But for real It's wise to have this rule, I'm just amused by the contrast)
AND LASTLY propably the biggest bonus of them all, the house has FREE PARKING, now this is what sells me the house and I don't even have a car.
Also I checked the prizes and it seems to be between 200-360€ (ish) euros per night. I'm not saying he is asking unreasonable price. I am saying however that Kääryleet are broke so he better not expect fans to flock the appartment.
