ok i read a couple gomens fanfictions and rewatched the show well i can definitely say that while it absolutely has fanfic vibes i think s2 captures a vibe of deep unseriousness and insanity that no fanfiction writer would even think about including. because they don't have to worry about overarching plot or (comedy) genre-aligning whatsoever. they're too busy trying to make crowley and az kiss

i have not read any gomens fanfiction but s2 feels like a gomens fanfiction

#nobody would dedicate 20 odd minutes to the fuckinnnnnnnnn zombies #but s2 focusing more on their dynamic and giving them more screentime etc is smth it def has over s1 #also i noticed that s2's flashbacks tend to be emotionally focused around aziraphale's pov (leading up to his decision in the finale)#so that makes me think that s3's flashbacks will be emotionally focused around crowley. good chance we'll see his fall from heaven #uh im too lazy to make a full reclist but the fics i liked: 1) crowley therapy fic. 2) them getting stuck in each others bodies for 1yr #3) also by th same author of the last one - crowley spending 6000 yrs assuming az is a demon and vice versa (this one was so funny)#(1 is demonology and the tri-phasic model of trauma: an integrative approach by nnm #and 2/3 are measure a year/living proof by theinkwell33)#good omens
