Summary: Wu Xie kept his side of the promise, coming to Changbai Mountain ten years later to bring Xiaoge home. But, Xiaoge has been acting differently since his return - especially the last few weeks. Sneaking around, going out without saying a word, and seeming to trust Pangzi more than Wu Xie. His biggest fear is Xiaoge is disappointed in him, and all the things he did the ten years Xiaoge was gone.
He feared Xiaoge would leave again...
But, the truth of Xiaoge's behavior was something Wu Xie never imagined happening.

Xiaoge hadn’t been acting right.
While this wasn’t a new observation, it had been bothering Wu Xie more the longer it went on. Initially, it was easy to explain away, but it had been months since he’d returned to Changbai Mountain to meet Xiaoge again. Months since they had returned to Wushanju and tried to pick up things where they had left off. But it had been ten years, and that amount of time could change a person.
Maybe not Xiaoge, who hadn’t seemed to change at all. He looked the same. He still only spoke when needed, or necessary. When he trained in the courtyard, Wu Xie could map out his movements, knowing what would come next as he glided from one position to the next. Xiaoge still stuck his hands into the pockets of his hoodie when he was thinking. He still preferred drinking the white tea that Pangzi had introduced to him, instead of the Longjing tea Wu Xie had always kept around.
But, Wu Xie had changed in ways even he wasn’t completely aware of. He’d become harder, colder, more jaded than he’d been when Xiaoge had first met him. He wasn’t the naive Xiao Sanye that had needed to be protected, watched over, and rescued more than once. Wu Xie had also grown older, and where they had once looked similar in age, the difference in their physical appearance was starting to show. A fact that bothered Wu Xie, for some reason.
It was also the first thing that Xiaoge had noticed when he’d returned from the bronze door.
Wu Xie watched as Xiaoge stood there, feet from him as his dark eyes had moved over him. “You’ve grown older.” He’d finally said after a moment. An observation.
It had been so good to hear Xiaoge’s voice again, and Wu Xie could merely smile at his words. “We simply just haven’t seen each other for a long time.” Wu Xie had said, holding out a hand to Xiaoge. “I’ve come to bring you home.”
