Bitta smiled brightly when she was handed cake. She looked at Mikkel and signed her thanks. Mikkel smiled and ruffled her hair. Taking her fork, she started eating the cake.

Cold

Oct. 10th Prompt: Cold hands/Candle light

Kaja huddled up to Nils. The two of them are orphans and they had never been taken to an orphanage. So they had just wandered the city and during the night they would find somewhere to sleep and just curl up to each other. If they were lucky someone would give them some food. Sometimes someone would walk up to them with a whole plateful for them to share. That would usually be another kid. Neither kid knew what it was like to be warm or have someone other than each other love them. That all changed one day when someone stopped and got to their level. Red eyes of Christian and blue eyes of Kaja look at the other. They’re wearing heels, a short black skirt, and a red crop top with sleeves that fall of their shoulders. They also have red makeup, a red headband, and shoulder length orange hair.

“Do you have anywhere to go?” They asked. Huh, they look like a female but sound like a male. Who are they? What are they? The two kids shook their heads. “Nej,” Nils said. The look on the other’s face saddened a bit. “Come with me,” they said and held a hand out to each kid. Cautiously, Kaja and Nils took the other’s hands. Standing up, the other led the two somewhere. The two look around. They’d never been to this part of town before. The three of them stopped at a house, where two sets of eyes look up at it. It’s a fairly big house, enough to fit a few people. “You’re going to stay here with me. Is that ok?” Red eyes look at the two kids. They looked at the person and nod. “Let’s go in and I’ll show you around.” The three of them walk inside, where the kids were shown around the house. In two of the rooms there’s already a couple kids in them. One was introduced as Leeroy Kirkland, their son adopted from England, and the other as Garth Oxenstierna, their son adopted from here in Sweden. “Hi papa,” Garth said with a bright smile. Papa? So, this is a guy dressed as a girl? “Hi, Garth,” the taller redhead said. “I’m going to go change and get dinner started, in the mean time you kids can get to know each other.” And with that, he left the kids alone.

Some time later, after dinner and the kids introduced themselves, the kids learned that the person that brought them in is a drag queen, a male that dresses as a female and performs for a group of people. They learned that when they saw him after he had changed clothes and saw that now he looks more like a guy. A guy with the same hair as when they met him. Turns out he doesn’t wear a wig. When asked if they were still cold, Kaja and Nils gave him their hands. Beck, as they learned his name is, gently took hold of their hands. Yep, still cold. What did he do in response? Get them new clothes and then start a fire in the fireplace. As soon as that happened, Nils and Kaja sat in front of the fire and put their hands near it, not to the point where they were practically touching it, but close enough to where they could feel it’s warmth.

Bitta’s 2P

In the states, Christmas is celebrated on the 25th. This isn’t the states, though. This is Odense, Denmark, and in Denmark, they celebrate Christmas on the 24th. Same goes for in Sweden.

Bitta smiled as she danced around the tree with her family. Earlier, Julemanden had come and delivered presents with his nisse. What Bitta, Christian, Peter, and Erland hadn’t known was that it was actually Mikkel that had dressed up as him and given them the presents that were put under the tree. There was also presents from each family member to hand out. When they finished dancing and singing (Bitta hadn’t known they were singing, she could only see their mouths moving), everyone sat in front of the tree.

Erland was the first to hand out a present and it was the one he’d gotten for Bitta. He handed the present to the girl. She smiled and opened Erland’s present. Inside was a stuffed unicorn. Smiling more, she took the plushie out of the box and hugged it. Next was Peter’s turn to give a gift. He handed his gift to Mikkel.

Mikkel smiled and opened Peter’s present. Inside was a black shirt that said awesome Danish dad in red. Mikkel smiled and hugged Peter. The boy in question smiled and hugged back.

Now it’s Christian’s turn to give his present.

And of course it’s for Peter. Smiling more, Peter opened the present to reveal its two games for his Nintendo Switch.

“This is awesome!” He said as he hugged Christian. Christian smiled and hugged Peter. Now it’s Berwald’s turn to give his present and it looks like it’s to Erland.

Blue eyes look at Berwald and Erland smiled a bit. He opened the present to see it’s a stunfisk plush.

“I love it papa,” Erland said with a bright smile. He then hugged Berwald, who hugged back. Mikkel’s turn to hand a present and it’s for Berwald. There’s a faint blush on the Dane’s face.

Berwald smiled and took the present from his husband, kissing Mikkel’s cheek in the process. This brought a happy smile to Mikkel’s face. He really did love his husband. Berwald opened the present to reveal a framed picture of their kids. Berwald smiled at seeing this. He pulled Mikkel onto his lap and held him. This made Mikkel smile more than he already was. It was then that Berwald said, “This was a sweet present, but by far the sweetest one is you.” Because of this, Mikkel blushed deeply. He shifted a bit and hugged Berwald. Now it’s Bitta’s turn to hand out her present and it’s for big brother Christian.

Christian seemed surprised at this. A present? For him? Even after two years of being with his family he was surprised. He took the present from Bitta and opened it. Inside was a heart shaped pillow that said storebror on it. He then hugged Bitta and held her close. Bitta smiled and hugged Christian. Of all her siblings, he was the one she was closest to. Despite the fact that she can’t hear him when he talks to her but he’s learning sign language so he can.

“God jul, barn,” Mikkel said. Three of the kids look at Mikkel and smile. “God jul, far,” Christian and Erland say. “Merry Christmas, dad,” Peter said. Bitta climbed onto Mikkel’s lap and curled up to him. Smiling more, Mikkel hugged her and signed Merry Christmas to her. Christian sat next to them and attempted to sign Merry Christmas to Bitta. She smiled and hugged Christian.
