Group Portfolio Poster “If I Never See Your Face Again”

This quarter, we were assigned to make another poster. This time, it was about the science of attraction. We were grouped into 3′s and our group got the face. We had to include in the poster what made a man’s, a woman’s, and a general human’s face attractive. Our poster included these pieces of information along with additional information about the golden ratio and who were ranked as the most attractive faces in the world. Our group had an equal division of labor for the research and I did the layout for the entire poster.

I was able to acquire and process the research we gathered by compressing it and taking the most important parts to be put into the poster since I was the one layouting it. Our group mostly communicated through chat since we worked on it during the last few days of christmas break. We talked about what we needed for the poster and what improvements could the initial layout I made have. We worked together on the research using google docs and they were able to access the layout of the poster through canva.com. 

After showing the poster to our classmates, they liked how informative the poster was, the color scheme, and how the text was readable and pleasing to the eye. However, the suggested that the division of subtopics could be clearer, the details could be highlighted more, and that less fonts could’ve been used.

Individual Portfolio Entry

I chose this portfolio entry because I love comic strips especially when there’s a dash of comic relief or comedy or when it’s something that I can relate to. This situation was also something that often occurs with me and my friends whenever we talk about our love for fictional characters and somehow end up liking the same character. The comic strip is another version of the chapter of Female Versus Female in the book, A Natural History of Sex by Adrian Forsyth. where it talks about how females battle out against each other to compete for a single male as a mate. In this situation, it’s two fangirls fighting over a single male character. What I liked the most about this entry is that it’s something I’m I can relate to a lot since it’s a common situation between me and my friends. I was really happy that I was able to relate one of my common experiences with something that I’ve learned in class. The thing I liked least about this entry is how I wish I could’ve inserted more bits of dialogue or made it a bit longer. It felt kinda short for me but I didn’t know what else to add that would fit with the situation either. This entry made me understand the concept of how females fight for a single male mate. I understood why would why females do this even if there were a ton of other males out there and it was similar to me and my friends’ answers, which was because he was the best out of the bunch for us.
