[Notes: I remember this one emotionally devastating me when I first read it. and it made me permanently associate Never Love an Anchor by The Crane Wives with Della Duck.]

06-20 (CST) Sophie Twitter Space Notes

(Playing catchup!)

This was a space held to discuss Sophie, in response to the clown show that followed her being seen with a Zhang Zhehan lookalike at a driving range in Shanghai. QuelleVous, followerno65, Bluebird, Naan, and Flora were speakers. [Recording]

Background About Sophie

The first encounter most people on the Chinese side had with Sophie was after August, when she was known as a CP fan who refused to go in her coffin. She was known as someone who was collecting and calling for evidence, posting clarifications, and creating group chats for that purpose.

It’s now clear that this was not her first appearance in the fandom. The earliest trace QuelleVous has been able to find is from March/April of 2021, around the time Word of Honor aired.

The earliest post that has been found from Umbrella, the man suspected to be Sophie’s husband, is from March 2nd 2021.

Sophie’s earliest fan account that has been found, yyds保佑jz, first appeared on June 22nd and was a bot account (ie. not registered to her own phone number, bought from someone else.) On this account she portrayed herself as a CP fan. The account has now been deleted.

First time she really made a name for herself was when she messaged Meng Duo (aka Danny aka the basketball player) about the yacht photos related to the girlfriend rumors in July. She asked whether Zhang Zhehan was single and if he was on the yacht, and the Meng Duo said he was single. Sophie posted these chatlogs to the LLD supertopic. 

Around August, Sophie changed her username to what she is now mainly known as on the Chinese side of the fandom and started posting a lot in the LLD supertopic, as well as posting a lot of updates about the girlfriend rumors.

She took on a leadership role in the fandom after August, see above. 

There were different levels of these aforementioned group chats, which were based on how involved people were in the clarifications. The highest of these would suppsedly get you in direct contact with Zhang Zhehan / his legal team / the tea shop. On a related note, QuelleVous has found that Sophie was previously heavily involved in MLMs (which are illegal in China.)

To get something notarized, you need to use your real name and real personal information. Because of that, a lot of fans (who used their own money to do this notarization) gave Sophie this information about themselves.

She was supposedly in charge of the CPF side, not many solos.

In November, she disappeared for a couple weeks when her account was nuked. She was still active in the group chats at this time, saying that she was having meetings with lawyers, in negotiations with CAPA, etc. She did make a trip to Beijing during this time.

She came back on Weibo with her “clarification gang” mid-November saying that there was going to be good news in ten days, and that the president of CAPA was going to issue an apology and rescind the boycott letter.

November 23rd, the 11th list of immoral artists came out with Zhang Zhehan’s name on it. Sophie said she didn’t know what happened.

Li Xuezheng started speaking up. The clarifications gang started interacting with him and vice versa.

January 10th, Li Xuezheng was muted. Sophie started talking in the background about how she had gotten in touch with Zhang Zhehan and he wanted to start a brand, was writing music and essays, etc. Zhang Sanjian appeared shortly after. {Notetaker’s addition: This is also when the Instagram was reactivated.}

Sophie appeared as the brand’s marketing lead when the brand was first announced, posting a photo of herself (heavily edited) wearing the original baseball caps. This is when QuelleVous et al. first took note of her.

She went quiet for a little while in May after QuelleVous posted showing Sophie’s business connections, how she was behind the girlfriend chatlogs*, and how she had been manipulating fans, bad mouthing Zhang Mama, etc. *When the girlfriend rumors were at their height, the supposed girlfriend gave fans permission to post chatlogs of hers. Fans figured out that this was actually Sophie impersonating her, this has been definitively confirmed.

June 12th Driving Range Incident

Afternoon of June 12th, someone ran into Sophie at a driving range in Shanghai with a Zhang Zhehan lookalike decked out in the brand’s merch. Other people present, including non-fans, have corroborated this. People who witnessed this didn’t know it was Sophie until photos of her were shown to them.

People at this driving range heard what sounded like very loud sex from a change room that the two went into.

All of this was filmed.

Afterwards, Sophie tried to claim that it wasn’t her at the driving range, saying that she was in COVID quarantine. This was debunked, and in her panic she said things that confirmed it was her.

The exact intent of this is unknown, but likely was going to be part of a plan to create “evidence” for Zhang Zhehan having a publicly indecent sexual relationship with a woman.

The lookalike was at least half a head shorter than Zhang Zhehan. QuelleVous has seen the footage and says it is unequivocably not Zhang Zhehan. 

The footage has been turned over to the authorities.

General Notes About Sophie

Umbrella’s personal details that are known online—a history of being in financial services, history of investment, his university, and his age—matches what is known from public records of Sophie’s husband.

On May 13th, Sophie defended Xie Yihua’s Baidu edit from her old account. 

Sophie is also one of the sources for many of the recent false rumors about Gong Jun.

Sophie being caught with this body double brings it into Chinese police jurisdiction, whereas the Instagram is harder for the Chinese authorities to do anything about due to it being an international platform. This can also be directly linked to the Instagram since they posted the golf videos from that day.

Sophie likely has professional links to water army companies.

There are many screenshots of Umbrella urging people to invest in foreign investment funds, crypto, and NFTs. Crypto is illegal in China.

Sophie’s husband lost his job around a year and a half ago, after formerly working as part of the financial investment team for a real estate holdings company that suffered huge losses (not Evergrande.) He had invested heavily in this company as well as possibly crypto. These investments are basically worthless now. tl;dr He and Sophie are likely not doing so hot financially.

Because Sophie does have a lot of fans’ personal information, threats have been made to dox or harass them. It’s unsure if this is Sophie herself.

There are records showing that Sophie has been stirring shit internationally for over a year.

Quarterly Goals Recap

It’s that time of the year again!

For those who are new here, every quarter (3 months) I create a list of roughly 20 goals I’d like to accomplish during that timeframe. These goals are mostly work related, but they can also be personal, self-improvement based, or basic life shit I really need to get done.

Now 20 goals are A LOT, and ain’t nobody gonna be able to do all of ‘em every quarter. So the idea is to get at least half of them accomplished. This gives me wiggle room in case life happens (and it always happens).

Thus, if I get at least half of my goals accomplished, I *win* the quarter. If not, I lose, and I gotta announce my failure here on the internet for everyone to see.

The 2nd quarter of 2021 is over, which means it’s time to see how I did! Let’s get to it:

Not gonna lie, I’m super impressed with myself for this. Considering the fact that Cliff got deathly ill and was in and out of the hospital, I’m surprised I got so much accomplished.

@bpdaf so this answer opened a can of worms (that I can call procrastination) and I wanted to address it, but with the limited characters in the reply function, I decided to answer it with a new post. Also sorry if this come as an attack, I promise it's not. I just became really curious if I had the wrong idea about the live-shooting system as I was ready to refute your points, but realized I didn't have enough knowledge to do so.

*also tagging @jahe, @yasmini24, @le-amarant as they also replied to my post and I figured maybe you were also interested in this (although it's really long and rambly, so I don't blame you for ignoring the post entirely). So yeah warning, this post is really long.

So I'm well aware of kdrama's live shoot system. But I did wonder if it was normal to start shooting 6 months before the first airing episode, as I was under the impression 6 months of shooting exceeded the standard duration of filming. But I couldn't actually refute it without some data to back that up. So I went to find data.

According to Wikipedia's page on Korean Dramas, they write: “As producing a series involves high expenses, production companies seek to shoot the episodes in the shortest time possible. In contrast to practices elsewhere, the first four episodes of Korean series are usually shot in advance, but the rest are shot continuously as the series is being aired.”

This fits in line with what I believed about Korean dramas live shooting system. They film a couple of episode ahead of time and then rest comes while it's still airing to fit with the audience response to it. Even preproduced dramas are sometimes reshot and re-edited while it's airing. But it didn't really say anything about the average filming duration for a drama or what shortest time possible was defined as. Probably because all dramas will aim for different things and given the content it can vary a lot how long it takes to film.

But I highly doubt it took Vincenzo 6 months to shoot something around 4 episodes and then crammed the rest into the 2 remaining months, as they knew from the start they had 20 episodes to fill.

So let's go through some other drama's shooting schedule to compare with Vincenzo.

I chose to limit the list to 2020 dramas (as they were likely affected by the pandemic) and tvN dramas, so it's the same broadcasting company as these dramas will likely share the same practices. Obviously with the amount I have included, I can't make any definite conclusions, but it does show a pattern.

*disclaimer I tried my best to accurately determine the shooting duration from when filming started to when it ended, but not all of these dramas had that information readily available, so I made do with the information I had at hand. This means some of these are just estimations.

So without further ado, here's the list:

Vincenzo:

May 2020, Director Kim Hee Won and writer Park Jae Bum teamed up.

I couldn’t find the exact time shooting started, so these numbers are based between March and May, as I assume they didn’t shoot without Oh Jung Se being casted and while the table read photos were released in May, it could very well be they had started shooting before this.

What does this mean?

So the drama that comes closest to Vincenzo's filming duration is Hospital Playlist, but they also did things a bit differently. According to their Wikipedia, they only aired 1 episode a week to comply with 52-hour week system and to avoid overnight filming for the cast's and crews' health. So that would extend their shooting time. They also had the same amount of shooting time as Vincenzo before the first episode aired, i.e. 6 months, but Hospital playlist was only 12 episode drama so they also had less content to fill.

The rest of these dramas has a shooting time with 6 months or less. I will say though a lot of these dramas are not action-packed (also I haven't checked the budget for any of these), so comparatively they probably have different needs when filming. The drama that comes closest in terms of action is Stranger/Secret Forest, and it's also pretty close in shooting time with only 2 month different (that's counting from the first table read though). This was however pre-produced so they wrapped up filming before the first episode even aired (if my information is correct). Also this was a season two so they were operating under a little different circumstances.

But with the exception of Stranger/Secret Forest (preproduced) and Hospital Playlist(tried to work with humane working hours), none of this drama has a 6-month filming duration before the first episode aired. In fact some of these dramas don't even exceed 6 months of filming. Meaning they had less time to shoot before the first episode aired. Their production was probably also lower and none them did CGI (although I haven't watched all of them so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) as that should also be accounted for.

So 8 months of filming is a lot to allocate to a drama, at least it's not the norm. There are other dramas that exceed that filming time that didn't make the list (Mr. Sunshine sorry too much research for at this point), but obviously that is not the standard.

Obviously I don't know how the filming was divided, how many of the episodes they had filmed before the first one aired. I don't know how many of the episode scripts were written before it aired. But I can see that even with the live-shooting, Vincenzo has some very uneven scheduling that doesn't align with how the rest of these dramas did their scheduling and airing. None of the mentioned dramas had any delays (in airing, I can't be sure about filming as some of them are probably affected by the pandemic), and yet Vincenzo did, even though they had spent more time filming before the first episode aired.

Also, most of these dramas wrapped up filming with more than a week to spare before the final airing, with It's Okay Not To Be Okay coming the closest to the airing date (with the ones where I know the date when they finished shooting), but they also only had 1-3 months of filming before the drama actually started airing so much less time than Vincenzo. And although they didn't have CGI, they did have the animations for each of the fairytales which I don't know how long it took but I can imagine it took some time.

So then I looked up another drama not by tvN but by Park Jae Bum:

I couldn't find the date they finished filming, but given they only started a month before airing (honestly I felt super sorry for the cast and crew when I saw these dates), I am assuming the hit the last airing date pretty closely with filming, and that would give them 3 months of filming roughly. And they also had 20 episodes like Vincenzo.

I haven't seen this drama myself, so I can't say anything about the writing quality, but here Park Jae Bum was working under even more time pressure and was able to deliver the ending on time and as I hear, it was pretty a pretty good ending (but I haven't seen it, so feel free to refute me). And yet he couldn't do it for Vincenzo. So I do think something happened with ending, whether it was Park Jae Bum just took a long time writing it for whatever reasons, or someone/thing (be it something personal, writer's block, execs not liking the ending etc.) actually interfered and that prolonged the writing or entirely changed the ending.

Anyway this became too long, so let me just end it here.

I wish I had time to make a more comprehensive list so I could be more definite in the conclusion because obviously I can't base everything of the schedule of 8 dramas that also vastly different in production quality, genre and content.

So yeah I might have just wasted the last three-four hours making something that doesn't even make sense. But hey, at least I'm less prepared for the exams now, good use of time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Before anyone jumps the gun or wants to jump right to "what-about-ism",I am not saying that women cant wear what they want, its that there are women fighting for rights to not wear hijabs, burkas or whatever other garment is used hide their bodies, yet we have women, who have no idea whats going on in these countries in-which women are forced to wear clothing and do what men say, that are fighting for their rights to wear these garments. Yes, nuns cover their whole bodies, but they choose to be nuns. The keyword here is "choose". Islam is not a race, and is the the most diverse religion, racially, and is by NO means a minority in the world. Also, I am not saying that their isn't discrimination against Muslims, but defending the rights of other human beings is not one of them. Injustice somewhere is injustice everywhere.

The list goes on, but this should express my point, Muslim women are treated as 2nd rate citizens, and are fighting everyday to gain rights. This is a constant battle for some Muslim women, yet over in the west they're scolding people who are trying to fight for equality for Muslim women by saying things like "you're telling women what to do," no, they're doing the opposite, but you on the other hand are basically handing over their rights back to the Islamic states who to continue to take them away.

FUTBOL FEMENINO UPDATE

With football coming back gradually in Spain, futfem is on its way to come back as well. 

La Liga Iberdrola 

The league will come back on September 5th 2020 with 18 teams. 

The League was stopped due to the ongoing pandemic and FC Barcelona were crowned champions being 9 points clear of 2nd placed Atletico Madrid.

The 2019-2020 season saw: 

Jennifer Hermoso being the League’s top scorer (23 goals) wit Asisat Oshoala coming in 2nd (20 goals). 

Caroline Graham Hansen being the top assist provider (9 assists) 

Sandra Paños, the goalkeeper with most clean-sheets, claiming her fourth Zamora trophy. 

FC Barcelona conceded only 6 goals in 21 matches and scored 86. 

Reto Iberdrola

The Second division will be back on September 27th with 34 teams(previously 32 teams).

The promotion play-offs will be played on July 25th-26th.

Copa de La Reina

The Copa de la Reina 2020-2021 final will be played on May 30th 2021. 

The 2019-2020 cup campaign was stopped in the semi-final stage due to the pandemic with Barcelona-Sevilla and Logroño-Athletic Bilbao being the semi-final ties.

Supercopa de España Femenina

The Second edition of the the Supercopa de España Femenina will be played in January 2021.

The first edition of the competition was played on February 9th 2020 at the  Helmántico Stadium, Salamanca between FC Barcelona and Real Sociedad. With the Blaugrana ladies claiming a landslide victory over the Basque side (1-10).

The Spanish National Team

Spain will be back in action in September as well. 

The first match will be played on September 19th and the second match will be played on September 22nd. 

UEFA Women’s Champions League

La Liga Iberdrola will be present in the 2019-2020 UCL through 2 teams. FC Barcelona and Ateltico Madrid, who will face each other in the 1/4 finals.

First PV for The Detective is Already Dead TV Anime is Now Online

    At the second stage on the second day of KADOKAWA Light Novel Expo 2020, the forthcoming TV anime adaptation of Nigojuu's romantic comedy/mystery light novel series Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru / The Detective Is Already Dead revealed its 70-second first PV. It is also announced that the anime is set to premiere in Japan in July 2021.

    The novel has been published from KADOKAWA's MF Bunko J imprint since November 2019 and has released four volumes so far. The first volume of English language edition is planned to be published by Yen Press in June 2021. The publisher describe the story of the series as follows:

  “You will be my assistant.” During a plane hijacking four years ago, Kimitsuka Kimihiko wound up becoming the assistant to a beautiful detective named Siesta. The pair traveled the world, solving crimes and battling criminal organizations. Until Siesta died, anyway. Kimitsuka thought that would spell the end of his adventures and a return to ordinary life, but an encounter with a girl who bears an uncanny resemblance to Siesta suggests that fate has other plans.

The project ‘Brooklyn Bridge Park’ in New York by Michael Van Valkenburgh wins the Rosa Barba International Landscape Prize 2021

The project Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh has been proclaimed this afternoon winner of the Rosa Barba 2021 International Landscape Prize, which is awarded within the symposium of the 11th International Biennial of Landscape Architecture Biennial, Barcelona, which took place from September 27th to October 2nd.

Designed and built over the past 20 years, Brooklyn Bridge Park spans 85 acres along 1.3 miles of the East River waterfront. The project has transformed the hardened industrial site of abandoned warehouses, obsolete piers, and decaying bulkheads into a vibrant public space. Today, park elements improve public access, reanimate six piers, and restore ecological diversity, blurring the edge between the East River and the park and proposing a new model for transforming civic urban waterfronts.

The Rosa Barba International Landscape Prize consists of an economic reward of 15,000 € and it is awarded to a landscaping project built during the 5 years prior to the symposium date.

The 11th International Biennial of Landscape Architecture of Barcelona will be held online and will discuss solutions to address climate change mitigation with professionals and activists of landscape and architecture

• The event, which will take place from the 27th of September to the 2nd of October, will be exceptionally held virtually, with free registration.

• It will include: A symposium, the Rosa Barba International Landscape Award, and the International Landscape Schools Award – Banco Sabadell Foundation.

• The motto of the symposium “Climate change, again: City and Nature”, highlights the use of landscape as a tool to face the climate emergency.

• Among the 42 experts who will attend the Biennial there are the American landscaper and climate activist Martha Schwartz, the French writer and gardener Gilles Clément, and the architect author of Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York, Michael Van Valkenburgh.

11th International Biennial of Landscape Architecture of Barcelona

Barcelona, September 16, 2021.- From the 27th of September to the 2nd of October, 2021 a new edition of the International Biennial of Landscape Architecture of Barcelona will take place, which will host the symposium “Climate change, again: City and Nature” to reflect on the importance of landscape in reducing climate change, as well as the Rosa Barba International Landscape Award and the International Landscape Schools Award – Banco Sabadell Foundation.

The event will, let another year, bring together professionals and experts in landscaping and architecture in a congress that has become a reference on an international scale. The symposium will count with 8 renowned guests who will explain tools to face the climate emergency, the authors of the 11 finalist landscape projects of the prestigious Rosa Barba International Landscape Award and, last but not least, representatives of the 8 finalist schools of the Award. During the Biennial, the Book-catalogue of the 10th International Landscape Biennial held in 2018 will also be presented. The UPC School of Architecture (ETSAB) will host the exhibition of the finalists of both awards.

Given the context of the pandemic caused by Covid19, this edition of the Biennial will be held online, with the exception of the closing ceremony, which will take place at the COAC and the Palau de la Música (Barcelona, Spain).

The 11th International Biennial of Landscape Architecture of Barcelona is organized by the Association of Architects of Catalonia and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and has the institutional support of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, the Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Provincial Council, the collaboration of Banco Sabadell Foundation, and the collaboration of the ISUF Congress, the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), the International Federation of Landscape Architects of Europe (IFLA Europe) and the New European Bauhaus.

The Symposium: a showcase of the best landscape projects and the presence of experts from the sector

One more year, the Biennial invites us to address a current issue as a contribution to the public debate to solve society’s problems from the perspective of the landscape. This year the motto of the Biennial symposium is “Climate change, again: City and Nature”. The finalists of the two prizes awarded by the Biennial also participate in the Symposium: Rosa Barba (professionals) and Schools (architecture universities). In total, 43 speakers are expected to participate for 30 hours online.

The 8 invited experts of the Symposium are:

§ Martha Schwartz. Landscape architect, urban planner, climate activist and professor at Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

§ Colleen Mercer Clarke. Landscape architect and coastal ecologist.

§ Karin Helms. Landscaper, biologist and professor at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. She incorporates participation to perform in great cultural landscapes. President of IFLA Europe.

§ Maguelonne Déjeant-Pons. Executive Secretary of the European Landscape Convention of the Council of Europe.

§ Li Xiong. Professor and Vice President of Beijing Forestry University and member of the China Expert Committee on Landscape Architecture.

§ Gilles Clément. Horticultural engineer, landscape architect, writer, gardener and professor at the National Superior School of the Country of Versailles.

As local institutional representatives, the symposium will feature:

§ Xavier Matilla. Chief Architect of the Barcelona City Council.

§ Ramon Torra. Architect and manager of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona.
