The camera creates 3D photos and videos and has a 3D screen. The screen, inspired by "Pin Toy," is built by numerous 3D pixels that shift depending on the photo to forms the 3D shot on the screen surface (giving the term "touch screen" a new and more literal interpretation). The user can touch the screen while photographing and feel what the camera is seeing, in real time. When the users like what they feels, they can click and save the photo. The saved 3D file can be felt again later. The 2C3D performs as a camera for blind and as physical-digital photo album.

Brothers in Silver and Black: How Raiders Football Builds Friendships
I was barely 21 years old. My cousins, who had worked in the service industry their whole lives, got me a job on the Las Vegas Strip in a celebrity chef’s restaurant that they were both working in. Other than the two of them, I knew absolutely no one that I was about to start working with. I assumed I’d fit in easily with the guys who were in my age group; the guys who wanted to go out and have a beer (or two) after work, and I did. We had a large group of bussers and waiters who were all in their early twenties, and they took me in right away. Little did I know, Raiders fans are everywhere.

The thing I wasn’t expecting though was to connect with any of the “older” crew. There were several men and women working there that had been in the industry for twenty years or more. The oldest of this group was a man named David Bert. David was a few years older than my parents. White hair wrapped around the sides and back of his head, spectacles hanging off the end of his nose, a big round belly, and a very grumpy demeanor. David was very meticulous, and didn’t tolerate people who couldn’t do their job or made his job harder. This was especially difficult for a young, wet behind the ears busser, who was just learning how to do the job. Getting along with Dave seemed like a long shot.
I started that job in January, about a week after the Raiders 1999 season ended. The Raiders finished that season on a high note with a 41-38 win over the Chiefs in Kansas City. John Gruden was in his second season as head coach, and had led the Raiders to two straight 8-8 seasons. Charles Woodson was in his second year, Tim Brown was still playing at a Pro Bowl level, and Rich Gannon was finally given the opportunity to start after years as a backup in KC. The pieces were there for the team to finally turn the corner after seven seasons without a playoff appearance.
As September approached, football talk began to circle around the restaurant. Everybody planted their teams flag, and talked about how “this would be their year.” We had Redskins fans, Giants fans, Saints fans, 49ers fans, Green Bay fans, and of course, Raiders fans. And THIS was where I found common ground with a grumpy old waiter who was 25 years my senior. Dave was an old school Raiders fan. In the picture at the top, Dave is on the far right, I am on the far left. In the middle is Raiders legend Jim Plunkett.
He loved the Raiders when they were in Oakland, and had season tickets in the LA Coliseum when they made the move south. I too was an old school Raiders fan, or at least as old school as a 21-year-old could be. My dad grew up in Las Vegas as a Raiders fan. One of his childhood friends was David Humm, who would go on to play quarterback at Nebraska before playing in the NFL for none other than the Raiders. It only strengthened my dad’s Raiders fandom. So, as a baby, no other choice existed.
Dave and I were by far the biggest Raiders fans in the restaurant. There were a couple fair weather fans there too, but Dave and I were the ones bleeding silver & black. Once the season started, the two of us had long since forgotten that 25 years separated us, that I was still learning, and that he was grumpy. I spent so much time talking with Dave about the old Raiders days. He would tell me stories of the LA Coliseum, and how he would fake a limp so he could bring in his hollowed-out cane which had little vials of rum hidden inside. He talked about watching Bo Jackson (his favorite player) live, and what an incredible athlete he was. We began to build a real friendship on the shoulders of our love for the Raiders.
The Raiders started off the ’00 season with a 7-1 record, and looked like one of the teams to beat in the AFC. On November 5th, the Raiders played the Chiefs in Oakland, and David and I were going to be there. Our restaurant’s Director of Operations had a friend close to the Raiders organization and had worked it out for a handful of us to go out there for a game. A limo picked us up from the hotel, In addition, they gave us field passes for the pre-game festivities.
We couldn’t believe it! Pictures with Raiderettes, former players, and members of the Black Hole. The game itself was an old AFL style shootout with the Raiders rolling to a 49-31 win. The Raiders finished the season at 12-4. They stood as the number 2 seed in the AFC, and played host to Baltimore in the AFC Championship game. Tony Siragusa ended the Raiders Super Bowl hopes that day when he decided to swan dive onto Rich Gannon and dislocates Gannon’s shoulder. The Raiders went on to lose 16-3. A great season, but not the finish we wanted.
By the time the next season began, Dave and I were relentless with our Raiders rhetoric. By mid-December, the Raiders were 10-3 and cruising towards a first-round bye. But a three-game slide would end that hope, and the Raiders fell to 10-6 and the 3 seed. After beating the Jets, a game which I got to see in person, they were off to New England to play the Patriots and a young Tom Brady. I’ll never forget the moment the officials overturned that fumble. I had people at my house to watch the game.
Dave couldn’t make it, but we talked on the phone throughout the game. When Greg Biekert recovered the ball I immediately called Dave to celebrate. As they went to replay I remember telling Dave, “It’s an obvious fumble. No way they overturn this.” As I said before, he was an old school fan. He witnessed the “Immaculate Reception.” He remembered how many times weird circumstances cost the Raiders . He knew how real the hatred for AL Davis was in certain NFL circles. And he told me very matter-of-factly, “They are going to screw us.”
Dave and I carried our mutual hatred of Tom Brady with us throughout the years, even after we no longer worked together. Whenever talks of the “tuck rule” would come up, I could always count on Dave to play the sound bite of Brady’s post game presser. “Yeah I was throwing it. How do you like that?” It would infuriate Dave! But it only served to bring us closer as friends and Raiders fans.
As the 2016 season was under way, and talks of the Raiders moving to Las Vegas grew louder, my buddy began to grow more ill. Dave had battled cancer and heart problems for some time, and his health was fading. David Bert died on the morning of December 29th, 2016. It came just 5 days after the Raiders defeated the Colts, securing their first 12-win season since 2000, the first season Dave and I learned of our mutual love for the Raiders.
As this season approaches, I find myself missing Dave more and more. I never got to share with him the excitement of our team moving to our city. I’ll never get to sit with him and talk about how much we hate Tom Brady and the Patriots. I miss the press conference sound bite.
My friendship with this man who was 25 years older, who wasn’t a fan of the younger kids in the restaurant, who didn’t tolerate half-assing it in your job, all started because of a football team. The Raiders are more than just that, though. If you’re part of the Raider Nation, you’re part of a larger family than you probably even realize. Dave and I may have become friends while we worked together even without the Raiders. We may have had a beer together now and then. But because of that team, Dave was more than just a friend. Dave became family, and I will miss him greatly.
