2024 Hyundai Alcazar Launched In India At ₹ 14.99 Lakh: Price, Specs, Features
Hyundai India has launched an updated avatar of its 7-seater SUV - Alcazar. The Creta-based 3-row SUV was long due for a mid-cycle refresh. The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift is launched at a special introductory starting price of ₹ 14.99 lakh for petrol variants and ₹ 15.99 lakh for diesel variants. It will continue to take on its existing set of rivals - Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector, Citroen C3 Aircross, Kia Carens and more. In the last few months, the Alcazar has been a dull seller. The update, however, is expected to add some more numbers to the SUV's monthly sales tally.
Tumblr media
The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar isn't just a stretched-out Creta, in terms of its looks. It opts for a bold-looking design theme, comprising of a rather butch-looking front facet with H-shaped connected LED DRLs, a large radiator grille, and a wide scuff plate.
Around the sides, the big change is the addition of new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, bigger rear quarter windows, black-painted cladding, and bridge-type roof rails. The rear face of the Alcazar is also heavily tweaked with the use of a new spoiler, a reworked bumper, and a fresh design for the skid plate. It also gets connected LED taillamps with sequential turn indicators.
As for the dimensions, the Alcazar is 4,560 mm in length, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,710 mm tall. In comparison to the outgoing model, the 2024 Alcazar is 60 mm longer, 10 mm wider, and 35 mm taller. The wheelbase remains unaltered at 2,760 mm.
On the inside, the big change on the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar is a new dashboard layout, which is borrowed from the facelifted Creta. The cabin is now upholstered in new shades - noble brown and haze navy. The dual-tone treatment gives a premium appeal to the overall cabin.
Besides, the 6-seater variant now features ventilated second-row seats with folding armrests, which improve the accessibility to the third-row. Unique thigh extenders are a key highlight of the Alcazar's interior.
The bold new Hyundai Alcazar will be offered in 9 colours with 8 mono-tone options including the new Robust Emerald Matte, Titan Grey Matte, Robust Emerald, Starry Night, Ranger Khakhi, Fiery Red, Abyss Black, Atlas White, and 1 dual-tone colour option available in Atlas White with Black Roof.

Tesla’s Meeting with Modi Sparks Buzz Amid EV Market Surge!
Tumblr media
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has confirmed his upcoming visit to India, where he is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This announcement comes amid growing speculation that Tesla, the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer led by Musk, is actively exploring options to establish a manufacturing facility within the country.
Elon Musk conveyed his anticipation for the meeting with Prime Minister Modi via the X platform. Reuters reports that the meeting is set to take place during the week of April 22, with the venue in New Delhi. This meeting follows their last encounter in New York in June. Throughout this period, Tesla has been engaged in discussions with Indian authorities to advocate for reduced import taxes on electric vehicles, while also evaluating the feasibility of local production.
Tesla has been seeking a local partner to facilitate its entry into the Indian market. Discussions have allegedly taken place with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries (RIL) regarding a potential joint venture to establish an EV manufacturing unit. Additionally, Financial Times disclosed that Musk dispatched a team to India in April to scout for suitable locations for a proposed electric car plant valued between $2 billion to $3 billion.
While Tesla prepares to enter the Indian market, it faces intensified competition globally, leading to a notable decline in sales during the first quarter of 2024. This downturn in sales coincides with the rise of Chinese EV manufacturers like BYD, which surpassed Tesla as the world’s top-selling electric carmaker. In India, the EV market remains nascent, with domestic players like Tata Motors currently dominating. However, the government aims to boost EV adoption significantly by 2030, with state subsidies and infrastructure improvements expected to drive a 66% increase in EV sales this year, according to Counterpoint research.
Elon Musk’s visit to India and the anticipated meeting with Prime Minister Modi underscore Tesla’s strategic interest in establishing a presence in one of the world’s largest automotive markets while navigating the complexities of global competition and local regulatory dynamics.

Kia Motors, the popular Korean carmaker, has set the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market abuzz with the confirmation of the Carens EV at its 2024 Investor Day event. This exciting development marks a significant step towards Kia's commitment to expanding its global EV portfolio and catering to the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions in India. A Closer Look at the Kia Carens EV While Kia remains tight-lipped about the Carens EV's technical specifications, here's what we can glean from the official announcement and industry insights: Kia Electrifies India The Carens EV Arrives in 2025 Targeted Market Leader: The Carens EV is poised to become the most affordable electric MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) in the Indian market upon launch. This strategic pricing approach is likely to make it a highly attractive option for families and individuals seeking a spacious, practical, and eco-friendly vehicle. Promising Range: Although official figures haven't been revealed, industry experts anticipate the Carens EV to offer a claimed range of around 400-500 km on a single charge. This range would comfortably cater to daily commutes and even weekend getaways within a reasonable distance. Fast Charging and V2L Functionality: Keeping in mind the importance of convenient charging solutions, the Carens EV is expected to support DC fast charging, allowing for quick battery top-ups on compatible charging stations. Additionally, V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality might be included, enabling the car to act as a mobile power source for electronic devices – a valuable feature for outdoor enthusiasts or during power outages. Part of Kia's Global EV Expansion The Carens EV isn't an isolated project. It's a strategic move aligned with Kia's ambitious plan to introduce 15 new EVs globally by 2027. This comprehensive roadmap highlights the carmaker's commitment to electrification and its vision for a sustainable future. Notably, the Carens EV is the only model specifically designated for the Indian market within this global announcement, showcasing Kia's focus on catering to the unique needs and preferences of Indian car buyers. Feature-Packed Electric MPV While details regarding the final equipment list are yet to be confirmed, we can expect the Carens EV to inherit a plethora of features from its gasoline-powered sibling, the Kia Carens. Here are some of the anticipated amenities: Dual 10.25-inch Display Setup: A sleek and modern dual-screen layout is likely to grace the dashboard, featuring a large infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster for enhanced driver visibility. Wireless Phone Charging: Seamless connectivity on-the-go is becoming increasingly important, and the Carens EV is likely to offer wireless phone charging for compatible devices. Ventilated Front Seats: Especially beneficial in India's hot climate, ventilated front seats provide a cool and comfortable driving experience. Panoramic Sunroof: Adding to the spacious feel of the cabin, a panoramic sunroof might be included, offering an airy ambiance and a delightful view of the sky. In terms of safety, the Carens EV is expected to inherit the high standards set by Kia. This likely translates to six airbags as standard equipment, electronic stability control (ESC) for improved handling, and front and rear parking sensors to assist with parking maneuvers. Kia's commitment to advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) suggests the Carens EV might even boast some of these safety features, further enhancing occupant protection. Expected Launch and Price The Kia Carens EV is anticipated to hit the Indian market sometime in 2025. This timeframe positions it to potentially become the first mover in the affordable electric MPV segment, giving it a distinct advantage in capturing market share. With a starting price expected to begin from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Carens EV could establish itself as a highly cost-competitive option within the growing Indian EV market. While it won't have a direct competitor at launch, the Carens EV could potentially serve as a more affordable alternative to the BYD E6, a premium electric MPV currently available in India. Additionally, it might indirectly compete with upcoming electric MPVs from Maruti Suzuki, anticipated to arrive in 2026 or later. For those seeking a hybrid option, the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Invicto offer established choices in the electrified MPV landscape. FAQs: Q: When will the Kia Carens EV launch in India? The Carens EV, tailored specifically for the Indian market, represents a strategic addition to Kia's portfolio. It fills a crucial gap in the segment, offering a promising alternative for environmentally conscious consumers. Initially introduced as an India-centric recreational EV in 2022, the Carens EV has evolved to meet the evolving demands of the market.
Currently, Kia's electric offerings in India include the EV6, with the flagship EV9 SUV set for debut in 2024. The Carens EV is poised to complement these offerings, providing Indian consumers with a wider range of electric vehicle choices.
Although specific technical details remain undisclosed, expectations suggest impressive features such as a claimed range of 400-500 km, DC fast charging, and V2L functionality. The Carens EV is also anticipated to boast premium features mirroring those of the standard Carens model.
Part of Kia's broader strategy involves introducing 15 EVs globally by 2027, with the Carens EV designated for the Indian market initially. Manufacturing will take place across Kia's global network of 13 factories, ensuring efficiency and quality control.

Kia India, a leading automaker known for its stylish and feature-packed vehicles, has announced a price hike for its popular mass-market models. Effective from April 1st, 2024, consumers can expect to see a slight increase in the price tags of the Kia Sonet, Kia Seltos, and Kia Carens. Let's delve deeper into this development and explore the factors contributing to the price adjustment. Understanding the Price Hike This price increase applies to all three of Kia's mass-market SUVs in India: Kia Sonet: A compact SUV known for its youthful appeal and feature-rich offerings. Kia Seltos: A mid-size SUV that has established itself as a strong contender in the segment with its spacious interiors and powerful engines. Kia Carens: A three-row MPV offering practicality and comfort for families. The price hike for these models ranges up to 3%, impacting the ex-showroom price across all variants. This is the first price increase for Kia models in 2024, following the previous adjustment implemented in October 2023. Reasons Behind the Price Change Kia has attributed this price adjustment to a combination of economic factors that have been impacting various industries globally. Here's a breakdown of the key reasons cited by Kia India: Escalating Commodity Prices: The cost of raw materials used in car manufacturing has been steadily increasing. This includes essential components like steel, aluminum, and plastic. Rising Input Costs: The overall cost of production has seen an upward trend, driven by factors beyond the immediate control of car manufacturers. Supply Chain Challenges: Global supply chain disruptions continue to pose a challenge, impacting the availability and cost of certain components. In a statement regarding the price hike, Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, National Head of Sales and Marketing, at Kia India, emphasized Kia's commitment to delivering premium and technologically advanced products. He acknowledged the economic pressures and explained that Kia is absorbing a significant portion of the increased costs. This helps to minimize the impact on consumers while ensuring the continued viability of their operations. Current Price Range of Kia Cars in India Here's a quick reference guide to the current price range (ex-showroom Delhi) of Kia cars in India, keeping in mind the upcoming price increase: Kia Sonet: ₹7.99 lakh to ₹15.69 lakh (estimated post-hike price) Kia Seltos: ₹10.99 lacks to ₹20.30 lakh (estimated post-hike price) Kia Carens: ₹10.45 lakh to ₹19.45 lakh (estimated post-hike price) Kia EV6: ₹60.95 lakh to ₹65.95 lakh (electric vehicle, not impacted by price hike) It's important to note that these are estimated post-hike prices based on the announced 3% increase. Exact revised prices may vary slightly depending on the specific variant and dealership. Additional Considerations: The price hike does not apply to the Kia EV6, which is positioned as a premium electric vehicle outside the mass-market segment. The introductory pricing for the recently updated Kia Sonet (launched in January 2024) will come to an end in April 2024, coinciding with the price increase. Looking Ahead: Kia's Future Plans in India Despite the price adjustment, Kia remains committed to the Indian market and has exciting plans for the future. Here's a glimpse of what's on the horizon: Kia EV9 Launch: Kia is gearing up to introduce its flagship electric SUV, the Kia EV9, in India. This addition will cater to the growing demand for premium electric vehicles in the country. Next-Generation Kia Carnival: Kia plans to introduce a new generation of the Kia Carnival MPV, offering enhanced features and a refreshed design for families seeking a premium three-row option. FAQs Q: Why is Kia increasing the prices of its cars? A: Kia is raising prices due to factors like rising commodity prices, escalating input costs, and supply chain challenges, necessitating a partial price hike to maintain product quality. Q: Will the price hike affect all Kia models? A: Yes, the price increase will apply to all mass-market Kia models, excluding the EV6. Q: When will the price hike come into effect? A: The price hike will take effect from April 1st, 2024, impacting all new purchases and bookings made thereafter.
