I am team RAV4, as my friend has a used one and loves it! Also totally anecdotally I knew someone who worked for Jeep as an automobile engineer who said he would never buy one because they were badly designed 😂 if you have access to a library you can look up consumer reports for specific models of car and get a good idea of pros and cons, which I found helpful while picking a car

Honestly, part of the problem is, because of my budget (and my disdain for how quickly cars depreciate in value), I’m looking specifically for gently used cars. I COULD get cars shipped from elsewhere in the country, but that would require commitment to the car before seeing it/getting it myself, which feels riskier. It’s also very much a seller’s market right now, so the good deals are selling quickly.
I was actually gonna get a 2023 Kia Sportage hybrid that was in Spokane. My dad saw this listing Friday night, talked to the salesman, set up time to go see it… we even talked about how to handle buying it that day if all looked good. The car sold Saturday morning before he got in 😭😭
Apparently the Honda CR-V has the best reviews and ratings for hybrid SUVs. Haven’t found a decent one within my budget.
Im still not sure why im being told the RAV-4 isn’t a good “Montana car.” Seems everybody I know loves theirs. But, the few used hybrid RAV-4s around me are coming in like 3-5k higher than my current budget. There are cheaper ones across the country- I think the options near me are more expensive trims?- but that’s the same issue with needing to commit before somebody I trust can even see it in person.
My dad is talking about maybe expanding the budget given the trouble we are having. My mom will probably lowkey still want to just give me her current car (standard gasoline/non-hybrid, a Cherokee trailhawk) so she can get whatever new car she wants. I’m grateful for whatever help they give me, but it’s just not what I would prefer for, ideally, the next 10+ years.
I do have a library but it’s on the other side of town like 30 min from me, and I’d have to drive through downtown, so it’s a pain to go. At this point though I really feel like I actually have less choice than I thought. I still want to vet whatever cars I have available, but I also feel like if I take any time to think about an available car, it’ll be gone.

New Kawasaki Eliminator 450 comes from the 451 cc parallel-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 44.7 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 42. 6 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

save me fiat 500....
something that i really feel is missing from the automobile market these days is cars that are actually cute. every car company wants to have the massive, powerful looking trucks for the many americans with tiny penises, but in reality they mostly just look like shit.
take the honda cr-v for example. between 2016 and 2022 (5th gen), the honda cr-v looked really nice in my opinion. 11 year old me really thought that honda had mastered nice looking car design, and it really does look good. then in 2023 they refreshed the look (6th gen), which makes sense, its been the design for basically 7 years, but they made it with this unnecessarily massive grill that feels so unnecessary. it really looks more fit for one of their larger vehicles, but whatever. worse though, they fucked up the hood for the engine, which now is extremely flat in comparison to the more sloped ones on the older models. this drastically reduces pedestrian visibility, especially of children. and also they are simply getting bigger and bigger, its annoying. the honda h-rv seems to have taken the place that the c-rv held just a few years ago.
Then (2019) & Now (2023)
anyway. this is not about honda. this theme is prevalent across automakers, and don’t even get me started on pick-up trucks, which are really the worst offenders. the less pedestrian visibility and the bigger grill, the better, apparently, and while i can understand the appeal to some, it should not have taken over the market as it has. cars do not need to look badass, or fucking massive and run over a billion pedestrians turning right on red. no. they need to look cute. and that is where i present to you the fiat 500. the ideal cute car these days.
the first thing you may notice about the 500 is it’s size. it is small. of course, it is certainly larger than it was when it was first introduced, but that is the nature of automobile advancement, we learn about airbags and better rollover protection and bumpers and shit and we have to put them somewhere. so that is not really surprising, im not expecting a car to have the exact same proportions as one that was introduced in 1957. but it still shares a lot of similar attributes, like the round headlights, and the slanted back.
Comparing the sizes
even still, it looks nothing like it did when originally presented. but that makes sense. the fiat 500 began in 1957 as of the first purpose built city cars, made to navigate the small streets of italy. they didn’t sell between 1975 and 2007, where they brought it back based off one of their concept cars from 2004, so obviously there is a lot of difference there. the car was among those made in a sort of retro style, among the mini coopers and vw beetles of the world, and it clearly worked well.
The look these days
so, look at the face of the regular model today. it is a small car, which is very important when justifying cuteness. it has no massive protruding front end, it just calmly slopes down. i like it. in the front, it has two circular headlights, which look very good. can’t go wrong with that. and inside it is small, but tbh ive never been inside one so how would i know. (yep, really great idea to have thoughts on a vehicle you’ve never even been in) another thing i like about the fiat 500 is that it is such a good timeless design. while the car has changed, and there was a minor facelift in 2016, it looks pretty much the exact same as it did in 2007 when it was reintroduced. i think this is a testament to how good of a design it is, that it hasn’t had any really drastic changes made to it since 2007, and really convenient to used car buyers because you could get one from 10 or so year ago and it wouldn’t even look that dated. it is a very recognizable car (“is there any car more recognizeable than a fiat 500?” -autocar.co.uk), and that is something i like.
the 500 is a massively popular car. as of 2024, it is the 9th best selling automobile in europe (tesla model y is number one, boooo kinda). it rutinely sells in the hundreds of thousands year after year. so good for them. and fiat clearly knows this. they have made many variants of the car over the years such as: 500X: a slightly bigger 4 door version of the 500 500L: made before the 500x but basically the same thing (but completely different for some reason) 500C: convertible (cool!) Abarth 500: faster idk 500e: electric! they made the front lights weird. they gave it eyelids. they made it tired. 600: not a variation but a similar name so ill count it. this one is more of an suv. same eyelids as the 500e.

really what i am saying is that we need a return to small cars. there are a good number of ones that look good, even if they are no fiat 500, in europe, but not in america because the haters (vw, stellantis[fiat’s owner], ford, toyota, literally everyone) don’t want americans to get good cars. so that sucks. but you gotta make them know you want it. buy more 500s. and somehow, someday, we will make cars cute again.
(worth noting that this is not a car based blog i just say whatever and im trying this out because all of my previous attempts to put together a website on my own fell to pieces. <3)

Advanced Performance All New Honda Accord RS e:HEV menggunakan mesin berkapasitas 2.0-liter direct-injected 4-Cylinder Atkinson cycle DOHC dipadu dengan Electrical Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT) dimana Honda memberikan jaminan gratis penggantian baterai hingga 8 tahun atau 160 ribu kilometer. Electric Motor di mobil ini menghasilkan tenaga maksimum 184 PS pada 5.000-8.000 rpm dan torsi maksimum 335 Nm pada 0-2.000 rpm, sementara dari 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC Engine menghasilkan tenaga maksimum 145 PS pada 6.100 RPM serta torsi maksimum 179 Nm pada 4.500 rpm, kombinasi tenaga dari Electric Motor dan mesin akan menghasilkan tenaga 207 PS. Honda CR-V, Élégance Trois-Rivières et autres

Avant d’entreprendre la lecture de ce blogue, permettez-moi de vous inviter ce dimanche le 28 mai au stationnement de la boutique JacHOBBY où se tiendra le premier évènement automobile parrainé par ce magasin en collaboration avec le club automobile les Bolides du Nord. En fait, il s’agit d’un véritable rassemblement de voitures (de grandeur réelle) qu’elles soient originales ou modifiées. En même temps, la boutique JacHOBBY sera ouverte par exception un dimanche. J’ai accepté de m’y rendre alors, si vous avez le goût d’une jasette sur l’auto, j’y serai Cette exposition se tiendra au 270 rue Renaud ouest à Laval (tout près des Boulevards Saint-Martin et des Laurentides) de 10h00 à 17h00.
Le tout nouveau Honda CR-V 2023
En esp��rant que mon dernier article sur un produit Honda ne vous ait pas trop effrayé, voici donc mes impressions sur le quatrième véhicule que le constructeur japonais a bien voulu me prêter pour ce blogue.

Cette fois, il s’agit de la version complètement redessinée de son très populaire VUS (ou VUM) compact, le CR-V et ce, dans sa superbe finition Sport. Bien entendu, ce que vous voyez d’abord, c’est sa carrosserie entièrement revue et, ma foi, c’est très réussi, surtout de l’avant. Ce design est plus agressif que dans le passé et on saura l’identifier plus facilement sur la route. Notez que le nouveau CR-V est légèrement plus large que le modèle qu’il remplace. Je vous laisse donc juger de la beauté du véhicule.

S’il y a un point vraiment positif à souligner de ce remaniement, c’est que l’intérieur du nouveau modèle est sensiblement plus grand que celui de l’ancien modèle. Au départ, le tableau de bord peut sembler un peu familier, c’est qu’il ressemble de très près à celui des autres véhicules de la marque. Le bloc d’instruments y est pareil aux autres mais au moins, on peut dire qu’il est facile à lire et à consulter. J’ai particulièrement aimé la finition ressemblant à de la fibre de carbone au centre de la planche verticale. Et les designers de Honda y ont superbement bien intégré les bouches d’aération de la ventilation que l’on voit à peine tellement elles se confondent bien au tableau de bord. Honda a aussi choisi un petit écran vertical (semblable à celui des autres produits de la marque discutés plus tôt dans ce blogue) servant à la radio (malheureusement, il n’y avait pas de XM Sirius dans ce véhicule d’essai, un accessoire que j’affectionne tout particulièrement…il n’y avait pas non plus de système de navigation mais la connexion Apple CarPlay ou Android Auto devrait aider) et à d’autres fonctions comme la caméra de marche arrière. Juste sous cet écran, on remarque les trois boutons ronds du chauffage très faciles à manipuler. Évidemment, vous aurez vu la console sur les photos avec son imposant levier de vitesses. Quant au volant, il est comme celui des autres Honda avec ses quelques commandes à la portée des doigts.

Lors du lancement de ce nouveau CR-V, les dirigeants de Honda nous ont promis des sièges beaucoup plus confortables que dans le passé. Cette promesse n’est pas tombée dans l’oreille d’un sourd puisque lors de deux de mes récents reportages, je me suis plaint de l’inconfort des sièges d’avant. Je dois vous dire que, dès que je me suis assis dans ce nouveau CR-V, je me suis rendu compte qu’il y avait eu une nette amélioration.

Les places arrière sont aussi plus invitantes et surtout plus vastes ce qui devrait plaire aux passagers jeunes ou plus vieux. Quant au coffre, il est très utile comme celui d’un petit VUS devrait l’être…sans plus.

Question mécanique, pas de surprise ici. Cette version Sport vient avec un quatre cylindres turbocompressé de 1,5 litre de 190 chevaux (la version hybride fait appel à un moteur de 2,0 litres avec deux moteurs électrique qui font, ensemble, 204 chevaux). La boîte de vitesses est du type à variation continue (CVT) alors que cette Sport était à traction intégrale. Ses pneus étaient des Hankook Kinergy GT sur jantes de 18 pouces.

Sur la route
Conduire le nouveau CR-V, ce n’est pas comme conduire une Civic avec un toit relevé. Évidemment, son comportement routier en ville est des plus agréables alors que le petit VUS suit allègrement le trafic. Il se gare plutôt bien grâce à une visibilité et une manœuvrabilité exemplaires.
Cette fonction ne m’inquiétait pas. Mes récentes expériences avec des berlines Honda plutôt bruyantes sur autoroute m’inquiétaient plus. J’ai donc pris le CR-V pour aller vers Trois-Rivières (à l’exposition Élégance) et, à ma grande surprise, le véhicule était plutôt silencieux, le son des pneus n’envahissant pas l’habitacle (comme je l’ai vécu avec la Civic et l’Integra). De plus, les sièges sont demeurés confortables tout le long du trajet (et ma compagne n’a pas eu à se plaindre cette fois !). Vraiment plus un véhicule de longs voyages que les berlines essayées plus tôt.
Question performance, cependant, ce CR-V n’est pas un «foudre de guerre». Atteindre le cap des 100 km/h peut demander jusqu’à neuf secondes. Et les reprises ne sont pas des étonnantes compte-tenu de la lenteur de réaction de la boîte CVT. Celle-ci est d’opération plutôt douce, cependant. (Il faut dire que le CR-V pèse près de 4000 livres !). Je n’ai rien eu à reprocher au comportement routier du CR-V. Sa direction est précise et son freinage suffisamment puissant pour un véhicule de ce calibre.
Je n’ai pas tenté d’excursion hors-route aussi limitée soit-elle. Le CR-V n’est pas un 4 x 4 (et surtout pas un tout-terrain) mais je n’hésiterais pas à l’utiliser dans un sentier légèrement accidenté. Bien entendu, je m’imagine que sa traction intégrale me serait plus utile en hiver avec les pneus appropriés.
Pour les amateurs de caravaning, mentionnons que le CR-V affiche une capacité de remorquage limitée à 1500 livres, 1000 livres avec la version hybride ce qui ressemble à ce que la concurrence peut faire. Et parlant de concurrence, mentionnons les Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5 Kia Sportage, Volkswagen Tiguan et même Ford Escape.
Cette version Sport du CR-V affiche un prix de 43 590 $ (plus le transport et la préparation et les diverses taxes qui s’appliquent). En ce qui a trait à sa consommation, j’ai noté une moyenne de…8,7 l./100 km alors que l’ordinateur de bord indiquait 7,7 ! J’ai pourtant fait la moitié de ce trajet d’essai sur autoroute…
Néanmoins, mon expérience avec le CR-V Sport fut très agréable. Compte tenu de sa superbe réputation, je n’hésiterais pas à le recommander. Enfin, je suis vraiment persuadé que Honda connaîtra encore une fois un grand succès sur le marché.
L’Élégance de Trois-Rivières
Pour une raison que je ne peux expliquer, l’annonce de l’exposition Élégance de Trois-Rivières n’a pas attiré mon attention. Toutefois, lorsqu’un de mes amis, Dominic Fortier, m’a appelé du site (où il exposait sa voiture Alfa-Romeo de collection) m’annonçant ce qui s’y trouvait, il me fallait y aller. Malgré le nombre limité de voitures exposées à l’hôtel Delta et au port de Trois-Rivières, voici ce que j’y ai vu :

Il y a eu que très peu d’Austin A35 au Québec au début des années soixante. Toutefois, celle-ci est un exemplaire superbement entretenu (ou restauré) !
Surprise de dernière heure…
C’est à se demander si c’est vrai mais, depuis quelques jours, les approches et les sorties de la carrière sur le boulevard Saint-Martin à Laval ont été pavées! Les camions qui en sortent sont alors moins sujets à transporter de la boue sur le boulevard lors des jours de pluie. Je me suis plaint plus d’une fois de cette situation (autant à la Ville que dans ce blogue) mais je ne peux croire que j’aie participé à cette décision. Ce n’est pas parfait (j’ai déjà vu la solution en Corée du Sud et plus récemment au Viet-Nam où les roues des camions étaient lavées à grande eau avant de prendre la route) mais c’est déjà mieux…il faut le souligner!

The Honda HR-V is one of the United States' best-selling small SUVs. That's saying something, as the small crossover segment has exploded in popularity over the past few years. This year the HR-V is all-new. Honda has given it a complete redesign, improving the affordable subcompact SUV in practically every way. The Toyota Corolla Cross is rated at 31/33 mpg city/highway with front-wheel drive and 29/32 mpg with all-wheel drive. The Hyundai Kona and Kia Seltos both are rated at 30/35 mpg city/highway. The Mazda CX-30 returns 24/31 mpg.
