2022 Philippine Presidential Elections
My vote is for Leni.
But the front runner is her opponent Bongbong Marcos, son of the late dictator, Ferdinand Marcos.
His father has caused so much death and debt for the Philippines, violating human rights and freedom of speech. Martial law was declared, media was controlled and the military was in so much power that ordinary people were red tagged and violated when they had nothing better to do. He may have provided architectures and hospitals, but that is his job as a man running a country and under all that “good” he has done is the debt building up. He should be for the people and not for personal gain.
Some people say they lived differently, quiet and peaceful in far flung areas, unaffected by the chaos others experienced since, again media was controlled and technology wasn’t as evolved. News was always good but the poor were getting poorer and the rich, getting richer as Marco’s cronies. (Just the tip of the iceberg)
I have never understood the people who voted for Marco’s son. They have no concrete reason except that it is their opinion, or that their families lived a peaceful life, calling his regime the “Golden Era”. I’m sorry to say that not all families lived as yours did. Think about those who were innocent, captured and killed by simply walking to their jobs. Think about the children starving in the rural provinces. They cannot alter history because it is written in the books and the lives of those who were scarred. Think about the wealth they had when they were in power, no problems except which shop to splurge on, where to travel, who to meet. Where is the sympathy for the poor? Where is the love for your countrymen?
I think about those who will suffer under this new government, filled with corrupt and convicted felons, sitting again with endless power.
The fishermen, farmers, domestic helpers, as well as, hard workers whose salary is not enough to feed them 3 times a day. I think about those who are sick with no one to turn to. The victims of natural calamities. Who will they go to for help? Who will respond to them in a heart beat?
Since Leni won’t be in the OVP anymore, the people who messaged her asking for help on operations, hospital bills, relief goods. Who will they run to now?
I hope and pray that the new administration will continue her job if not the same, then, better. That they may respond to their pleas of help as fast as she did, provide financial aid for the sick as she did, travel to remote islands as she did, help the fishermen and farmers as they did.
I have so many questions because bongbong did not provide a concrete plan or a reasonable platform for the Philippines. Cheers to six years filled with surprises!
