Does Taylor benefit from PR?
I see a lot of comments that Taylor does not need PR, while yes, Taylor is super famous, this doesn't mean she doesn't benefit from public interest. Any known celebrity relationship is inherently going to create PR and interest, that doesn't mean that's all there is to it. This post has Google Trends results to gauge interest.
First here you can see Taylor, Travis, the NFL and the Super Bowl all benefited with more interest during this pairing. (link)
Tumblr media
Taylor's albums haven't really benefited, but the Eras Tour did. Era's is sold out, but the interest was well timed for the movie. The peak for the Eras Tour is 15-21 October 2023 when it was released in Cinemas, Taylor and Travis also appeared on SNL then. 1989 TV was the next week, the Google game created the first peak for 1989 TV. Interest in Eras peaked again when TK came right before the Disney+ release. (link)
Tumblr media
In the last 90 days interest in their relationship has changed from engagement to break up. Engagement peaked at the Super Bowl, break up peaked March 16, the day of the Bob Iger article. Taylor had not been seen for a week but Travis had been seen alone. (link) Interest in Travis is largely in the US, his trip to Australia and Singapore cause a slight (2%) increase in interest there.
Tumblr media
In terms of public interest, Taylor and Travis are still only 75% of the level of interest there was in Harry and Taylor. More isn't always good, Harry and Taylor have spoken and sung about how hard that was, especially given their ages. Haylor has continued to be of interest, when they spoke at the 2021 and 2023 Grammy's it surpassed Taylor's then relationship with Joe. (Link) Harry & Taylors Albums create interest in their relationships. Matty & John, Tom, Ship names.
Tumblr media
Taylor's first increases are album releases. One Direction was more popular than Taylor or Harry when they dated until 1989. 1989 TV caused an increase for Harry, ending his tour caused a drop. (link)
Tumblr media
In summary, the timing of Taylor's relationship with Travis was quite fortuitous with the release of 1989 TV, the Eras Movie and the Eras Tour. It will be interesting to see how this interplays with the Eras tour in Europe, release of TTPD and start of football training. It's also of note that although Taylor has sustained interest over time, she has never been Google searched more than she is now.

Donovan Edwards #7 above
HOUSTON — It's now how you start, the classic sports trope says. It's how you finish.
Turns out, the answer is both.
Behind a powerful running game, Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines put together stellar first and fourth quarters in a 34-13 triumph over the Washington Huskies to win the 2023 national championship.
On the opening possession at NRG Stadium, Kalel Mullings slipped out of a tackle to pick up 14 yards before Donovan Edwards rushed for a 41-yard touchdown. Edwards ripped off a 46-yard scoring scamper on the next drive, and Blake Corum soon followed with a 59-yard sprint.
Nine carries, 174 yards, two touchdowns.
And that was merely the opening frame.
Michigan's initial surge on the ground sparked the final victory of the team's 15-0 campaign—one that secured the program's first national title since a shared 1997 crown.
Monday brought a familiar blueprint for Michigan, which focused on the run while the defense owned the game.
Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. zipped his picturesque spiral throughout the night. However, the Maize and Blue prevented an offense that entered bowl season leading the country in passes of 30-plus yards from completing such a throw for nearly 53 minutes.
In total, the Dawgs mustered 301 yards with Penix averaging a meager 5.0 yards per attempt on 51 throws. He tossed two interceptions and dealt with constant pressure from Michigan's disruptive front.
That defensive effort proved vital for the Wolverines, who struggled to move the ball in the middle quarters.
They managed a field goal after Will Johnson snatched an interception on the first play of the second half. Otherwise, the offense had a stretch of five punts and a turnover on downs. The lull allowed Washington to hang around until the midpoint of the fourth quarter.
Clinging to a 20-13 lead, Michigan found some breathing room.
Colston Loveland's 41-yard reception led to Corum's decisive 12-yard touchdown run with 7:09 left in regulation.
Washington drove inside the 30-yard line on the ensuing possession, but U-M's star nickelback Mike Sainristil picked off a 4th-and-13 prayer, returned it 81 yards and set up Corum's second touchdown.
Michigan closed the victory with 303 yards and four trips to the end zone on the ground. Corum collected a team-high 134 yards and two scores, while Edwards added 104 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries. Plus, quarterback J.J. McCarthy chipped in 31 yards.
And the celebration was on.
Nine adventurous years into his tenure—one which may be ending in the immediate future if rumblings of his potential return to the NFL are true—Jim Harbaugh is a national champion.
The prodigal son, officially, has brought his alma mater back to the top of the sport's proverbial mountain.
If that was Harbaugh's final game, what a fitting way to finish.
Tumblr media
HC Jim Harbaugh
During the last three seasons, the Wolverines have boasted one of the sport's best offensive lines. Michigan earned the Joe Moore Award—which is given annually to the country's top offensive line—in both 2021 and 2022 before Washington landed the honor in 2023.
Earlier in the week, U-M left tackle LaDarius Henderson told On3's Andy Staples that "it definitely stings" the blocking unit missed out on a three-peat.
Winning a national title in that fashion is a decent consolation prize.
The future of the program will rapidly become the greatest focus in Ann Arbor; Harbaugh understandably side-stepped questions about the NFL at multiple media availabilities throughout the week.
On this night in Houston, however, the nation's No. 1 team won in the same manner it had all year: Run the ball and shut 'em down defensively.
Michigan started the season that way, never wavered and rode the philosophy to a third consecutive Big Ten title and third straight trip to the College Football Playoff.
It's how you start. It's how you finish.
And the Wolverines have ended as national champions.

Rams' Stafford continues to defy logic
Tumblr media
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. - Don’t expect quarterback Matthew Stafford to be on any type of pitch count this season. At least for now. The NFL is not like baseball where managers can dictate to a pitcher how many pitches he is allowed to throw during a game.  Quarterbacks in the NFL like Stafford are not constricted as by the baseball approach to limit a pitcher’s productivity by the number of pitches he throws. That's In practicality and in theory unless the guy just can't throw the football. Throughout his career, Stafford has been pretty good at throwing the football, completing just over 63 percent of his passes. For Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, situational football dictates whether or not Stafford can fling the pigskin around the field as many times as it calls for.
Tumblr media
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (9) does what it takes to help his team be successful, even running the football from time to time. Photo by Mark Hammond/News4usonline/File Stafford got the ball off 49 times in a losing cause to the Detroit Lions in Week 1. Stafford completed 34 of his 49 passes to end the game with a 69 percent clip. His final stat line included 317 yards passing and a touchdown.  McVay said there are no limitations on Stafford when it comes to the passing game.    "No, I wouldn't say that,” McVay remarked after a team practice on Sept. 13. “You go into games... everybody wants to talk about run-pass balance. There are certain situations and different things that dictate different approaches. Ultimately, I'm interested in how do we most efficiently move the football and score points? That's the most important thing for us. How that is illustrated and how that unfolds is something that is a case-by-case scenario.” It’s an excellent point made by McVay. In Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals, the Rams fell into a 14-0 deficit early and lost the ballgame, 41-10. With the game unraveling at a quickening pace, Stafford and Rams offense was not able to get in sync with one another. Stafford attempted just 27 passes against the Cardinals. In contrast, the Rams ran the ball 20 times in the road defeat. Though McVay’s team absorbed its second loss of the season, the pass-run ratio was closer than that of the first game.  With a pass-heavy plan in Week 1, the Rams running backs touched the ball 23 times compared to the 49 times Stafford put the ball in the air.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (9) completed 15 of 24 passes against the Arizona Cardinals in a 26-9 win at SoFi Stadium on Oct. 15, 2023. Photo by Sammy Saludo/News4usonline/File “Now I will say this, the best offenses I've been a part of had the ability to do either or. What that looks like is something that I can answer those after the games, but I'm not necessarily looking for a certain number because the defense does have a say in how we best feel like that's illustrated in regards to moving it and scoring points is a week by week thing," McVay said.  If Stafford is to average 49 passes per game (based on his Week 1 performance) that would projected to be 5,389 yards through the 17-game regular season. Amazingly, Stafford has only hit the 5,000 passing yards clip only one time during his illustrious career.  The flip side to this equation is a reality check. If Stafford goes out and attempts 49 passes a game he would finish the season with 833 passes thrown. That's a lot of balls being thrown. Considering that Stafford has thrown the football 727 (2012) times in one season and over 600 (2011, 2013, 2014, and 2021) times on four other occasions, 800 pass attempts is a doable milestone for the veteran signal-caller.  But at what cost? A tired arm at the end of the season? Outside of his man-on-a-mission season in 2021, his first season with the Rams after being traded from Detroit, Stafford’s other high-flying passing attempts came early in his career.  Stafford and the Rams would later defeat the Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl LVI in 2022. In leading the Rams to a Wild Card playoff appearance, Stafford slung the ball around the field 521 times during the 2023 regular season for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Stafford completed 19 of 27 passes for 216 yards in a 41-10 defeat to the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Sept. 15, 2024. Photo credit: Los Angeles Rams Last season, Stafford put the ball in the air 40 times or more in three games, including tossing it 55 times in a 23-20 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers. In the team’s first game in 2023, Stafford threw it 38 times in the season-opening win against the Seattle Seahawks.  Stafford is not a young buck anymore. His grizzled, slightly graying beard reflects as much. But he is still a future Hall of Famer who can do things with his passing wizardry that others wish they could do. He can still make all the throws and then some. He is still the unmistakable leader of the Rams.   The Rams will go as far as Stafford will take them, whether he attempts 50 passes in a game or puts the ball in the air a dozen times. It's about putting his team in the best position to succeed, Stafford said.     “I'm doing whatever's best for me to try to be physically as ready to go as I possibly can be, try to pick up as much as I can mentally watching the game and how can I create advantages before the snap, after the snap get our guys in good positions to go be successful,” Stafford said before team’s season-opener against Detroit.   “ try to make sure that when my opportunities to make plays come that I can still do that, and I feel like I can. feel like I did a decent clip last year and am looking forward to the challenge of trying to do it again this year,” Stafford added.  Top Image Caption: Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (9) looks downfield to throw the football against the Arizona Cardinals in an NFL game played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sept. 15, 2024. God’s Whistleblower
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. Proverbs 15:3 (ESV)
Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was given power to scorch the people with fire. And the people were scorched by intense heat, and they cursed the name of God, who had authority over these plagues; yet they did not repent and give Him glory. Apocalypse 16:8-9 (BSB)

Nick Foles, who led Eagles to only Super Bowl win in franchise history, announces retirement
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NFL quarterback Nick Foles has decided to retire from the NFL after an 11-year run, which included a Super Bowl victory with the Philadelphia Eagles. Foles released a video on social media explaining his decision to retire, while thanking everyone who has been a part of his lengthy journey in the league. “It’s crazy to be in this moment, looking at this camera officially announcing my retirement from the NFL,” Foles’ video began. “From the first day I was born, my dad put a football in my hand. He must’ve known something, because that became a dream of mine since I’ve been a kid, to play in the NFL. And I will be forever grateful for that.”CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM”It’s been such a special privilege to play for Philadelphia, St. Louis, Kansas City, Jacksonville, Chicago and Indianapolis.”Foles was the prototypical quarterback in terms of physical attributes coming out of Arizona in 2012. At 6-foot-6, 262 pounds, Foles had a strong arm and good decision-making skills, which ultimately led the Eagles to draft him in the third round (88th overall). Foles would make a name for himself in 2013 after taking over the starting position from Michael Vick, who suffered a hamstring injury. He would go on to have an 8-2 record in his 10 starts, and threw for 2,891 yards with 27 touchdowns and two interceptions in 13 total games. JASON KELCE EXPLAINED WHY NICK FOLES HAD ‘BIGGEST D—’ DURING EAGLES’ SUPER BOWL VICTORYToday, Foles’ touchdown-interception ratio during that season remains an NFL record. He would also be named a Pro Bowl alternate during that year as well. But Foles’ journeyman career started in 2015 when he joined the St. Louis Rams, working to a 4-7 starting record over 11 games. He landed with Kansas City the next season, working as a backup for the Chiefs before the Eagles brought him back in 2017. It was that year when Foles was depended on to help the Eagles get through the injury to starting quarterback Carson Wentz, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 14 against the Rams. Foles would not only anchor the offense heading into the playoffs, but he would go on a run, helping his team defeat the Atlanta Falcons (15-10) in the divisional round and Minnesota Vikings (38-7) in the NFC Championship Game to reach the Super Bowl against the Tom Brady-led New England Patriots. Foles would go on to win Super Bowl LII MVP as the Eagles defeated the Patriots, 41-33, in which the quarterback caught a touchdown pass from tight end Trey Burton – a play that goes down in legend as the “Philly Special,” also known as “Philly Philly.””Specifically, thank you to the Philadelphia Eagles fans,” Foles said in the video. “Thank you for all your support from 2012, when I was drafted, to 2017, when I came back. You truly made playing in Philadelphia the most special experience in my football career.”The Eagles noted that Foles will officially retire as a member of the organization.Foles played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, followed by the Chicago Bears in 2020 and 2021 before finishing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022. He thanked the NFL fans all around the world for their support during his time with each franchise, while also recognizing his wife for helping out with his family during those years of moving around the country. “I want to give a special thanks to my wife, Tori,” he said. “You’re the rock of the household. Thank you for guiding our family through the transitions. The conversations we’ve had before games, the week of games.”Foles finishes his career with a Super Bowl ring, one Pro Bowl, 14,227 passing yards and 82 touchdown passes over 71 games.”As I step away from this game, I want to cheer on the next generation of NFL players. Go out there each and every day and give it everything you have,” Foles said. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Calacus Monthly Hit & Miss – Sir Jim Ratcliffe & Manchester Utd
Every month we look at the best and worst communicators in the sports world from the last few weeks.
SIR JIM RATCLIFFE & MANCHESTER UNITED
There was a time when Manchester United set the standards by which other clubs were compared.
The era of Sir Alex Ferguson saw the club win 38 titles including 13 Premier Leagues, five FA Cups and two Champions Leagues. Off the field, the club capitalised on the Red Devils’ global profile to accumulate a raft of commercial partnership which ensured the club remained competitive.
But when Sir Alex retired in 2013, the club encountered an inevitable decline, failing to win the Premier League or the Champions League again and, at last count, giving eight different coaches control of the first team.
United’s demise has coincided with the club’s sale to the Glazer family in 2005, the American family enjoying a honeymoon period purely down to Sir Alex’s brilliance.
Patriarch Malcom Glazer, an American billionaire and owner of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, acquired an initial 2.9% stake in the club in 2003, which he later increased to 15%, before increasing his stake in the club to 75% and ending its status as a publicly listed company, before taking full control in June of 2005.
Takeovers in football undeniably garner huge attention from fans whose primary concerns relate to the wellbeing and competitiveness of their clubs. Glazer was quick to isolate himself from United’s fanbase when it became clear that the deal was primarily funded through loans secured against United’s assets – landing the club in the red by hundreds of millions.
Understandably the Glazers’ tumultuous relationship with United’s fanbase has endured, even since Malcom Glazer’s death in 2014, when his six children took control of the club.
A series of public relations issues ensued, further fracturing the relationship between the Glazer family and United’s fanbase. In 2015, it transpired that the Glazer children were receiving shareholder dividends that would pay them £15million a year. Fans suggested this was an unjustifiably large sum considering their lack of day-to-day engagement with the club.
Sean Bones, Manchester United Supporter Trust’s (MUST) vice-chairman, told Sky Sports: “We feel it would have been more justified to take a chunk of the debt rather than to extract money from the club.
“They have turned United into a cash cow and they are starting to milk it. It is obviously now a mechanism for the profits of United to leave the club and make its way to Florida.”
Perhaps most drastically in 2021 the Glazer family, among other top-flight European clubs, agreed to join the European Super League with six English clubs, before all of them withdrew their support for the breakaway organisation.
Joel Glazer, co-chairman of the club, latterly apologised in an open letter to United fans, writing “You made very clear your opposition to the European Super League, and we have listened. We got it wrong, and we want to show that we can put things right.”
Despite fewer trophies over the past decade, United have secured record breaking sponsorship deals around the globe, with the club propelling its commercial revenue from £44m in 2005 to over £300m in 2023.
According to Deloitte’s Football Money League, they remain among the most commercially viable clubs around, an achievement that largely goes under the radar.
The MUST have described the Glazer’s running of the organisation as “slow and opaque,” and after a prolonged period of negotiation billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a 27.7% minority stake in the club in February this year for £1.25bn through his company Trawlers Limited, an amusing nod to United’s beloved Eric Cantona.
With his business success through the INEOS company, Ratcliffe has already shown his passion for sport, backing the former Team Sky cycling team and backing the British America’s Cup bid as well as Ligue 1 club Nice and one-third of the Mercedes Formula 1 team.
At the time of the purchase, Sir Jim stated: “Whilst the commercial success of the Club has ensured there have always been available funds to win trophies at the highest level, this potential has not been fully unlocked in recent times.
“We will bring the global knowledge, expertise and talent from the wider INEOS Sport group to help drive further improvement at the Club, while also providing funds intended to enable future investment into Old Trafford.
“We are here for the long term and recognise that a lot of challenges and hard work lie ahead, which we will approach with rigour, professionalism and passion.”
During a BBC interview with Dan Roan, he further set out his aspirations for the club: “We have to walk to the right solution not run to the wrong one. Short term issue is we want to get into the Champions League for FFP. Real challenge is it’s a two-to-three season challenge to get the organisation and environment right to get the performances on the field right and winning football matches.
“It will be intense from time to time but equally it needs to be friendly, supportive, you need to create a combination of the organisation, right people, right environment, and then my belief is the results follow.”
Regardless of his minority stake, Sir Jim’s influence is clearly extensive, and it’s hardly a surprise that he wants to change so many aspects of the club to make it competitive for the top prizes again.
A quick win was to announce among his initial reforms that he would instigate a three-year freeze on dividend payments, bucking the controversial trend set by the Glazers.
A central part of this journey, says Ratcliffe, is investing in the right people to ensure success can flourish, leading to changes in the club’s leadership team including the inclusion of Dave Brailsford, the director of sport at INEOS.
Brailsford is a veteran in the world of competitive sports, having supercharged British Cycling to unprecedented heights during his role as director of performance. Team GB  cyclists won eight Olympic golds at the London 2012 games under his guardianship, with his scrupulous attention to detail yielding his ‘marginal gains’ philosophy tremendous success.
Brailsford went on to achieve similar accolades in the world of road cycling with Team Sky, rebranded INEOS Grenadiers in 2019, winning the Tour de France in the team’s third year under their new name.
There can be no doubt that Brailsford’s appointment is emblematic of Ratcliffe’s impressive ambition for United and demonstrates the Glazers’ willingness to cede operational control of the club, a move most welcomed by the fans.
Former Manchester City Commercial Director and Chief Football Operations Officer Omar Berrada was appointed as the new Chief Executive of the club in January as a precursor to Sir Jim’s official arrival the following month, a post he will most likely assume this summer after his gardening leave.
Berrada has an extensive background in football, particularly when it comes to player contracts and transfers, which will be crucial for United in the coming months and years.
Having bolstered City’s revenue to £712m in 22/23, overtaking United, Berrada is keen to stress that successful commerciality  is underpinned by success on the pitch.
Berrada will seek to reinvigorate United’s commercial footprint in tandem with improved playing performances and stated: “The commercial growth of the clubs is predicted or underpinned by success on the pitch. If you have a really good business strategy alongside it, then it just turbocharges the growth off the pitch.”
Some cynics have argued that Berrada’s exit from City shows he’s not indispensable, but his track record is certainly impressive.
Under his predecessor, Ed Woodward, United accumulated a net spend of more than £1.13bn since Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, the highest in the League, with fans having had little to cheer about.
Given that United finished eighth in the Premier League in the 2023-24 season, their worst finish since 1990, and with a goal difference of minus one, the future of manager Erik ten-Hag has been under scrutiny.
But it is not just on the field that United have struggled, since Sir Jim finalised his investment.
The proposed appointment of Dan Ashworth and United’s poaching of Technical Director Jason Wilcox from Southampton, further underlines Sir Jim’s intention to transform the club.
The pursuit of Ashworth has been controversial, especially after details of his covert email negotiations with Berrada were discovered, highlighting the fact that Ashworth was being tapped up, breaching Premier League guidelines and confidentiality agreements.
Equally, an audit of United staff and the club’s facilities has led to some clumsy communications that further underline the need for expert PR support.
In late April, Sir Jim made the decision to cut staff perks as part of his money-saving measures ahead of the men’s FA Cup final. A company-wide email outlined that while staff would be given a free ticket to the final, employees would have to pay for their own travel to and from the stadium.
Other perks such as the pre-match party, hotel accommodation and the ability for employees to bring friends and family to the match have also been scrapped.
This email, as revealed by The Times, said: “In recognition of your ongoing support this season, we will organise a colleague trip to Wembley for the final on 25 May.
“This year, the trip will be a little different. We will still provide you with a complimentary ticket to the game. However, we’ll ask you to contribute towards coach travel, and lunch will not be provided.
“While we appreciate this is a change from previous trips, you will be aware of the need for us to spend the club’s money effectively, with a focus on performance and outcomes.”
The i Columnist Kevin Garside wrote: “Almost six months since his Christmas Eve declaration of purchase, Ratcliffe’s motive is revealed for what it always was, a business opportunity aimed at deriving value from a fading asset even more than the hated Glazer regime he diluted.” It’s hard to disagree.
This was just one of many announcements Ratcliffe made to staff, detailing his cost-cutting programme and general displeasure at the way the club was being run
In early May, after a tour of the Trafford Training Centre, Sir Jim sent another email to staff condemning the state of the training ground: “I had a good tour around some of the facilities. I am afraid I was struck in many places by a high degree of untidiness. In particular the IT department which frankly was a disgrace and the dressing rooms of the U18 and U21 were not much better. These standards would not come close to what we would expect at INEOS and we are a chemical company.”
Sir Jim also cited email traffic statistics to Manchester United staff as the basis for a ban on working from home and told them to seek “alternative employment” if they are not willing to come to club premises.
Sir Jim made his edict despite United’s lack of sufficient office space and some consultants on contracts whose terms do not require them to be in the club’s Manchester or London business complexes.
According to the Sun, these communiques have turned the atmosphere at the Carrington training centre ‘toxic,’ although it is understandable that Sir Jim wants to get the basics right and fix United’s organisational challenges.
Shortly after these disciplinary measures, Ratcliffe attended United’s Premier League clash against Arsenal instead of the women’s FA Cup final at Wembley, when United’s women’s team won 4-0 against Tottenham to earn their first major trophy.
Many disgruntled fans took to social media voicing their concerns over this alleged favouritism, presenting Ratcliffe with a further communications set-back, this time with the fans, despite INEOS representation at Wembley.
On X, @TheUnitedWayyyy posted: “Zero excuses for INEOS, Ratcliffe & his representatives not attending the Women’s FA cup final at Wembley.
“The game against Arsenal is not going to decide anything for us. The men’s team’s fate has been decided & is done for. Think it reeks of biased priorities. Not a good sign.”
Ratcliffe was keen to right this wrong, sending a message of congratulations to the women’s team later that day calling it a “wonderful achievement” and a “historic moment” for the club.
For many, this was compared to the Glazers’ reign of operational disinterest, but Marc Skinner, Manchester United’s women’s head coach, was quick to jump to Sir Jim’s defence, insisting that words of encouragement were repeatedly passed on to the players before the final.
But when it was later revealed that the women’s end-of-season awards dinner was to be cancelled, it gave further credibility to concerns that the women’s team is not an INEOS priority.
Once again, Skinner defended his paymaster, saying in a news conference: “I sit in a position of celebration rather than worrying about what has and hasn’t happened. I understand the decision, I respect it and our girls will be presented at the appropriate time with the successes that a club will celebrate.”
Sir Jim may argue that he had to be at Old Trafford for the Arsenal game, given that Labour leader and Arsenal fan, Sir Keir Starmer, and Lord Sebastian Coe, chair of the Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force, were also in attendance.
The regeneration of Old Trafford is a pressing issue with its leaky roof again garnering attention towards the end of United’s 1-0 defeat to the Gunners, that saw 41mm of water cascade through the roof, later dubbed the ‘Old Trafford waterfall.’
Ratcliffe has made his plans for Old Trafford clear from the start, with a vision to create the ‘Wembley of the North’ and provide a stadium that the club can be proud of.
Along with the £237m he has pledged to boosting the club’s infrastructure, Ratcliffe’s close ties with the Labour leader suggests government levelling up funds may account for the difference. Although this remains an obscure longshot, it may explain why Ratcliffe attended Old Trafford in favour of Wembley that day. Whether or not this decision was borne out of political necessity, it seems a poor lapse of judgement.
Ratcliffe has certainly made an impact during his early leadership, with executive appointments, cost-cutting measures and his overall strategy for Manchester United’s governance.
A club of United’s size will always receive significant media attention, so every mis-step has been pored over with results as indifferent to some of Sir Jim’s early initiatives.
These drastic measures demonstrate an unwavering commitment to getting Manchester United back on track in the long-term, and any attempt to instil a degree of vigour should be welcomed with open arms.
But it’s also a reminder that senior leaders, however successful they have been in their professional lives, would do well to work closely with their communications teams.
So often we see that the best intentions, clumsily delivered, can do more harm than good that undermines credibility, trust and the support of those key audiences that leaders seek to engage.

Ezekiel Elliott RETURNING To The Dallas Cowboys After 2024 NFL Draft
Tumblr media
"Good morning folks! The Ezekiel Elliott deal is now happening, reported early this morning by the crew over at NFL Network - Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, etc. The Dallas Cowboys are set to sign Ezekiel Elliott to a, I assume, one-year deal. I haven't actually seen any contract details yet as of filming. I'll check in, uh, as we film this, like 7:15 a.m. Eastern Time, uh, in a little bit here, with if there's an update near the end of the video. Uh, Elliott is going to resign with the Dallas Cowboys, that's been the expectation for several days now, and the Cowboys forgot to draft a running back, so doesn't really add any surprise there either. Uh, by adding Elliot, the worst running back room stays the worst running back room in the NFL. Uh, the Cowboys, let's start positive, uh, I'm hopeful that an upgraded run-blocking offensive line with some additions can result in better short yardage and Red Zone results than what Dallas had last year, but also what Zeke did last year actually wasn't great in that area. He's not the same pass protector he was in his prime, but he's still a good pass protector. He still helps you in that area. I think Rico D's still better, um, but Zeke's not a liability in that area like, say, you know, Mini Mini DuVon is from that perspective. But after weeks of the Cowboys flirting and Jerry Jones saying how he thought Zeke played great down the stretch, which we will talk about in today's video, um, and this will be the last of my complaining that I do about the Zeke, except, man, maybe it's a lot today's live show. Uh, we will be live again this afternoon so you guys can make sure you are subscribed, hit that sub button so you don't miss out. Been a long couple days, a lot of draft picks, UDFAs yesterday, got a little bit of sleep last night and wake up and, ah, Zeke signed, which wasn't overly surprising. It was a matter of what day it ends up being, was it a Monday or a Tuesday, but that has been the trend this team was going to go down for a while there, so a lot to talk about here with Ezekiel Elliott. So hit that sub button if you haven't already. Again, as of filming, no contractual details here on the Ezekiel Elliott move, um, but this team needed running back help. At least there's something in terms of running back help coming in, I guess. Um, we'll get to, I'm going to bring in some of the old stats we had done previously on these videos. We talked about Zeke for a while now, um, so you'll see some of the last four year stats, uh, you'll see the short yardage stats, the Red Zone stats, and this alleged strong finish to Zeke's season which just didn't happen. It's not true. Um, but I do want you guys to grade the signing. I'm going to assume one-year deal with not that much money, but we'll see, uh, so A, B, C, D, or F in the comments section. It'll be the pin comment on today's video, so if that ad comes here on YouTube, take advantage of it, head down there, and let me know. Let's talk about what Zeke has done the last four years. And again, this is going to come up at a graphics, so ignore some of the old outdated... It's not a sponsor of today's show, but it's just what I had from previous times doing it, so ignore that. Uh, Ezekiel Elliott last year: 4 carries, 642 yards, three and a half yards per carry, three touchdowns. 231 carries in 2022: 876 yards, 3.82 yards per carry, and 12 touchdowns as well. 2021: 237 carries, 1,000 yards, 4.2 yards per carry, 10 touchdowns. 2020: 244 carries, 979 yards, four flat on the average there, and six touchdowns. Here's my issue: this is a player who has declined. We cannot sit here and think that, ah, yes, Ezekiel Elliott is returned to form. The Patriots' supporting cast was so bad, and it was bad, to be clear, it was not a good supporting cast in New England. It was a bad group, uh, although if you can look at ESPN's pass block win rate, I believe the Patriots' run block win rate, excuse me, are actually higher than Dallas, which I don't know how much I really believe that, but it wasn't a good group there. It straight up wasn't, and Zeke has not played well. He hasn't done it since the beginning of the 2021 campaign, and unless you're giving him like 25 carries, I think he's gonna get there. That's the crux of my issue. This is a non-explosive back at this time in his NFL career, and the efficiency isn't very good either. So you're getting some short yardage stuff, which we'll get into, it's not very good, by the way, relative to what it was in his prime. This is not the same guy that we all loved at the beginning of his career. It's simply not. More stats, more stuff to come here. If you agree with me, you probably think the Cowboys still need to go trade for a running back because I don't think you have a real starter on your roster right now. Do the Cowboys still need to go get a running back? Why for yes and for no in the comments section. Everyone goes, ah, the short yardage stuff, he's great in short yardage. He actually was worse than the guys you had last year. Obviously, supporting offensive line stuff helps. We'll bring the graphics up here again. On more carries, Tony Pollard was more efficient, had more touchdowns, and on 12 more carries, had double the first downs, 15 to 30, in F to get first downs inside of three yards. He was way better at executing that than Ezekiel Elliott was last year. Rico Dowdle was actually hyper-efficient, and I wish they'd give the ball more in short yardage situations. I'm a little frustrated that they didn't go down that path. And it's not eight plus box defenders, that's the real reason for stuff. No, the loaded box percentages from last year for Ezekiel Elliott was 17.93cm, at 35. You know, Khalil Herbert was at 31%. It was higher than what Tony Pollard had because it's off in a schematic B-A-S thing, more than anything. But the defenders were not loading the boxes to stop Ezekiel in the ground game, they were not. It's not what teams did. The numbers that we can look at to be like, okay, you know, what is it like trying to be independent of the supporting casts and everything? Good numbers, like rushing yards over-expected per attempt Read the full article

Divisioinal Weekend Rundown
Tumblr media
Divisional round: Jan. 20 and 21
NFC
(7) Green Bay Packers at (1) San Francisco 49ers
Saturday, 8:15 p.m. ET on FOX
Quite the surprise in Wild Card Weekend with Green Bay just demolishing the Dallas Cowboys and moving on to San Francisco. Jordan Love went 16 for 21 for 272 yards and 3 TDs in his playoff debut AND has thrown 21 TD’s and 1 INT in his last 9 games. Safe to say he is playing at a high level. San Francisco is coming off a bye week and gets their taste of playoff action for the first time this season. It’s no secret the 49ers have a tremendous offense. Christian McCaffrey should be MVP in my opinion but the 49ers are a sneaky good team that on the surface it looks like the offense runs through CMC, but it doesn’t. it’s blocking, route running and scheme. Brock Purdy can sling it and with a ‘Swiss army knife’ in Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk on the outside there are plenty of options for Purdy to distribute to. Oh, and George Kittle helps too. But the key for the Packers is Aaron Jones. Jones has rushed for more than 110 yards in each of the past four games. He ran for 118 yards and 3 TD’s against the Cowboys. Jones has rushed for more than 100 yards every time he’s faced the Cowboys in his career but he’s never rushed for 100 yards in six previous meetings against San Francisco. In the 2021 Divisional Playoff loss to the 49ers he had 9 catches for 129 yards and 12 carries for 41 yards. I think San Francisco wins but not by the -9.5 point spread Vegas is predicting. Packers are hot but they lose a heart breaker.
(4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers at (3) Detroit Lions
Sunday, 3 p.m. ET on NBC
Who would’ve thought Detroit, who hasn’t won a playoff game in 32 years would be hosting TWO playoff games in a season. What a wild ride it has been for the motor city this season. Jared Goff got his revenge against the LA Rams and is moving on to face the Baker Mayfield led Buccaneers. Lions DB CJ Gardner-Johnson is talking about how if Tampa had a better QB they’d be better. So bulletin board material before the biggest game in recent Lions history. No big deal. The Bucs took down a flawed Eagles team with blitzing the hell out of them. No AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts was hurt and ineffective, and there was no defensive help which led to this solid Bucs team advancing. Detroit is riding high and rightfully so, Detroit has two home games in the same playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Detroit hasn’t won 2 playoff games in a season since winning the 1957 NFL title! Be energetic, be excited, BUT this Buccaneer team is NOT to be overlooked. The defense is solid, Baker Mayfield is having a good season and is distributing the ball to his playmakers. Tampa isn’t flashy but they don’t have to be. The atmosphere in Detroit will be electric and I think Detroit gets the win but Tampa keeps it close.
AFC
(4) Houston Texans at (1) Baltimore Ravens
Saturday, 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN/ABC/ESPN+
For some reason I feel that the rest vs. rust debate has to apply to the Ravens but not the 49ers, and I don’t really know why. Baltimore rested key guys against the Steelers the final week of the regular season and had a bye week. Guys got rest and more time to get healthy, but I can’t shake the feeling the Ravens will take a drive or two to shake the rust off. These teams meet for the second time this season, they played week 1 where Jackson threw an early INT, each QB had a fumble, Stroud took 5 sacks and Jackson took 4 sacks. It was a sloppy loss for Stroud but it’s safe to say each team rebounded nicely. Houston took it to Cleveland scoring at will on the best scoring defense in football. So why not try it with 6th ranked scoring defense in Baltimore. It’ll be 28 degrees in Baltimore so we’ll see how Houston handles the cold. CJ Stroud is exciting but Lamar Jackson is gunning for his 2nd MVP which he would have earned for sure. Baltimore hasn't hosted an AFC title game since January of 1971, when the Colts beat the Oakland Raiders. The Texans have never made it that far. They are 0-4 in the divisional round, including a loss to Baltimore in January of 2012. The Houston Oilers played in the AFC championship game, but their last appearance was 44 years ago. I think Houston will put up a good fight and I want the Cinderella story to continue in the worst way but I think Baltimore escapes this game with a win.
(3) Kansas City Chiefs at (2) Buffalo Bills
Sunday, 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS
This is it. This is the measuring stick. THIS IS THE GAME! This is to prove to everyone you are for real Buffalo. The playoff losses to KC have always been IN Kansas City. But now you get Patrick Mahomes at home. You get him playing his first road playoff game ever. I cannot overstate how immensely huge this game is for Josh Allen and Sean McDermott. Sean McDermott needs this win to show he can coach in the big moments. He needs to show he can manage a game from beginning to end. He needs to show he can close. Josh Allen needs to show he can outduel a 2-time Super Bowl winner. Period. The end. That’s it. Win, just win. I wouldn’t say this is the biggest game in franchise history, but this will be a franchise defining one. This regime needs to win to justify the culture, and the process. It’s more pressure on them but you put this pressure on yourself when you have the season you have. As far as this game goes, injuries will be the key. Buffalo needs to get some key guys back especially on defense. Rasul Douglas needs to play and so does Taron Johnson for the secondary to have some confidence in covering Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice. Isiah Pacheco didn’t play in the first meeting of these teams this season and the Bills need to clamp down on the run to keep Mahomes in long down and distances. The Chiefs are converting 52% of red-zone trips into touchdowns this season, which is in the bottom half of the league. Against Miami, the Chiefs went 2 for 6 and settled for four field goals. Keep everything in front of you. Stop the run. Force Mahomes into long down and distances and the Bills win. I think the Bills win but it’ll be so much closer than I want it to be. This is also a game I will be in attendance for so I’m sure my wife will enjoy my emotional mood swings for 3 hours.

NFL 2024 Wildcard Round Preview & Predictions
Tumblr media
While I haven't posted any NFL blogs this season I have been sure to keep an eye on the happenings throughout the league, and we're finally in the part of the season that matters.
So lets dive in to the full plate of nuggets and preview this weekend's games.
Tumblr media
1. Detroit Lions vs Los Angeles Rams
Of all the games that will be played on this weekend, this one has the most storylines and subplots.
Starting with quarterbacks who traded places 3 years ago and now face off. Fortunately, this matchup will likely be decided by more than just the quarterbacks.
The Rams appear to have found a remedy to thier run game through Kyren Williams, who is 3rd in total rushing yards, and in contrast the Lions have a more balanced attack with David Montgomerry leading their run game and Amon-Ra St. Brown leading thier pass catchers.
This is a situation where I am opting to pick with my head over my heart, and while I'll actually be rooting for the Lions to win the game because thier story in 2023 has been phenomenal, I am going to pick the Rams and Sean McVay to win in Detroit and upset the team with a better record.
MY PICK: Rams Win 27-24
Tumblr media
2. Tampa Bay Buccanneers vs Philadelphia Eagles
I am in a state of near-catastrohic horror at what has happened to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.
What started out as a promising season and Philly repeatedly executing the greatest play ever executed in NFL history, has turned into a late season collapse that started with that really bad loss to the 9ers in week 13.
Thier defensive back issues have now spiralled in to a team that leak points so badly, they lost to the New York Giants in week 17, and it's crept it's way on to the offense, and the Eagles were shutout and put up 0 points.
Then you have to factor in Philly's history against Tampa Bay itself. Flashbacks to 2002 when Gruden's defensive juggernauts domniated Donovan McNabb and the Eagles, as well as the more recent 15-31 demolition at the hands of Tom Brady's Buccaneers in the 2021 playoffs.
I will say this, I am glad that Bruce Arians isn't calling plays in Tampa because he'd air it out on these Philly db's.
My biggest concern though, is that Jalen Hurts has 9 fumbles this season and Tampa safety Antoine Winfield, is joint-leader in forced fumbles with 6, and Tampa have been good at that as a team with 18 on the season.
I'll pick the Eagles to win here, only because I still think the Eagles offense has some life left in it and I am a Jalen Hurts believer.
MY PICK: Eagles Win 21-16
Tumblr media
3. Kansas City Chiefs vs Miami Dolphins
Honestly, I don't root for the FIns and I don't even enjoy watching them play neccessarily, but I do enjoy the schadenfreud of watching Tua Tagovailoa, lead the league in passing yards and quarterback a team in the playoffs.
The Chiefs are different story and to be honest with I have enjoyed watching the Chiefs more this year, than any other season of the Mahomes era, at times it's been kind of comical.
The Dolphins are dealing with a bunch of injuries. Jaylen Waddle, Bradley Chubb, Xavien Howard, Raheem Mostert were all out in week 18 and likely in the Wildcard round too.
The Chiefs have to like thier chances and thier recievers can breath a little bit easier, knowing the Dolphins won't be thier usual high-scoring selves. I fully expect the Chief's recievers to drop passes, but this particular opponent can't make them pay them when they do it on 3rd down.
The only issue I see, is Kansas City are not a high scoring team in thier own right either, and while the Fins'injuries are worse.
I want the Fins to win but their too injured and will likely lose a close low scoring game in Arrowhead on Tyreke Hill's return.
MY PICK: Chiefs win 21-17
Tumblr media
4. Buffalo Bills vs Pittsburgh Steelers
I honestly think that the Pitburgh Steelers are doing is winning games via witchcraft because just as recenty as week 14, the entire state of Pennsylvania wanted him fired.
The Bills for thier part, started the first 10 weeks of the season with a 5-5 record and have since ripped off a 6 game winning streak that sees them in the 2 seed.
The Steelers offense sputtered badly midway through the season, but since week 16 and putting Mason Rudolph on the field, things have been looking up.
It sucks that TJ Watt won't play, he leads the league in sacks and that matters because the Bills are the best team in 3rd down percentage this season with 49%.
Buffalo finally appear to have found some balance between Josh Allen heroics and establishing the run. To make matters worse, Buffalo also rank as one of the best pass defenses in the league, ranking 7th in opponent passing yards.
What this comes down to, is that the Bills have Josh Allen and the Steelers are quarterbacked by Mason Rudolph, and in contrast to most of the weekend's games, you can't convince me that the favorite isn't winning this.
MY PICK: Bills Win 28-16
Tumblr media
5. Cleveland Browns vs Houston Texans
The Browns have been my guilty pleasure all season long, and those sideline-to-sideline videos on thier Youtube channel are honestly awesome.
A team whose defense has been lead by Myles Garret, and has had to find thier identity on the offensive side of the ball becasue of injures to 3 different quarterbacks this season, and while I don't love Kevin Stefanksi's play calling, he does deserve credit for the circumstance he was in this year and how his team kept winning.
The Houston Texans have undergone a rejuvenation in thier own right with newly drafted CJ Stroud under center.
While Deshaun Watson will have to watch his current and former teams from the sidelines as a result of a shoulder injury, Joe Flacco will quarterback the Browns and has since week 14, and with him has come a new confidence to the Browns' offense.
I'll gladly take the Browns and thier newly minted Joe Flacco offense, alongside the best defense in the NFL to win this one.
MY PICK: Browns Win 27-20
Tumblr media
6. Dallas Cowboys vs Greenbay Packers
The Packers are in a unique position because of how quickly they've gotten back to playoff contention.
I get that Jordan Love has been given the mantle as appears to have been the plan since he was drafted, and I don't know what to make of him getting the Packers to the playoffs in his first season. It's kind of unreal that the Packers got over Aaron Rodgers this quickly, add to that Love isn't the finished article yet.
The other major storyline is Cowboys head coach, Mike McCarthy playing host to his former team and that will surely dominate the headlines and previews going in to the weekend.
Dak Prescott leads the league in passes completed, as well as passing touchdowns, and CeeDee Lamb leads the league in passes caught.
Plus I like the idea of Dallas' defense against a young quarterback, playing in thier home building and Dallas corner DaRon Bland leads the league in interceptions.
I'm picking Dallas to win, but beware because anyone who picks the underdog is not crazy. Jordan Love is completing 64% of his passes and the sneaky Packers, always seem to come up with something from special teams through Keisean Nixon.
MY PICK: Cowboys win 34-27

[ad_1] Four years ago, Gardner Minshew II became thrust into the NFL consciousness when Jaguars starter Nick Foles broke a collarbone in Week 1 against the Chiefs. Minshew would start 12 games that year, with the Jaguars winning six of them.It was enough to win the starting job entering 2020. But it didn't go well. Injuries limited him to eight starts, and the Jaguars bottomed out at 1-15.In came Trevor Lawrence (and Urban Meyer), and out went Minshew for a mere sixth-round pick to the Eagles, after a clumsily-contrived quarterback competition. He started a pair of games in 2021 and 2022 in Philly. And when Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen became the head coach of the Colts, he came calling for Minshew. As the backup to rookie Anthony Richardson, Minshew has played well, so far. He entered the Week 2 game against the Texans after Richardson suffered a concussion. Minshew helped lead the Colts to a win. He started the Week 3 game at Baltimore. He helped lead the Colts to an upset. Then, on Sunday, Minshew engineered a victory over the Titans after Richardson suffered a shoulder injury. This year, Minshew has completed 57 of 83 passes (68.67 percent) for 553 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions, and a rating of 95.1.Richardson is now out, possibly for several weeks. Minshew becomes the man. The Colts love him. The players love him. He's a great teammate. And he gets a chance to show that, when the free-agency wheel spins in March, maybe he'll get a chance to be a starter, somewhere. If nothing else, he can play the role (again) of stop-gap in the event the team that signs him doesn't get the quarterback it wants in the draft. If the Vikings, for example, are eyeing one of the incoming rookies at the position, why not have Minshew as the insurance policy against taking a guy they don't really want if the guy they covet can't be gotten?Minshew was a bargain this year for the Colts. One year, $3.5 million. He's still only 27. He's got plenty of years left in his football career. He could have a second act like Geno Smith, in time. What happens over the next few weeks will go a long way toward determining whether that time will be sooner than later. The first opportunity comes this weekend, when Minshew goes back to Jacksonville. They still love him there. They might not love him as much after Sunday. [ad_2] Source link

David Montgomery (5), run game hugely impressive in Lions' landslide over Packers
David Montgomery ran for three touchdowns in his return from a thigh bruise and the Lions took advantage of a late Green Bay penalty to beat the Packers, 34-20, and take sole possession of first place in the NFC North.
The Lions (3-1) have won four straight against the Packers dating back to 2021, including in the final game of the regular season last year, when they spoiled Green Bay’s playoff hopes on Sunday Night Football.
On Thursday, the Lions played their most dominant first half of the season and survived a sloppy third quarter to win their second prime time game of the season. They also beat the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL season opener at Arrowhead Stadium.
Montgomery ran for a season-high 121 yards on 32 carries and scored his final touchdown with 6 minutes to play, after Packers linebacker Quay Walker was called for an obscure leaping penalty on a Lions field goal try.
The Packers, who trailed 27-3 at halftime, pulled within 10 points on a Jordan Love touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, set up by a long pass on the final play of the third quarter when the Packers appeared to snap the ball after the game clock expired.
Jared Goff drove the Lions into field goal range on the ensuing possession, and the Lions sent Riley Patterson on for a short kick after Jahmyr Gibbs was stopped short of a first down on third-and-9. Patterson made a 30-yard field goal and both teams trotted out for a kickoff when officials threw a late flag on Walker for taking a running start to leap over the line on a block attempt.
The Lions accepted the penalty, and Montgomery scored four plays later on a 1-yard run.
The Lions outgained the Packers 284 yards to 21 in the first half and held Green Bay to three first downs in the first two quarters — two of them coming on Lions penalties.
Love led a 12-play, 86-yard touchdown drive on the opening possession of the third quarter, then scored on a 9-yard run on a quarterback draw play on the second play of the fourth quarter.
The Packers missed the ensuing two-point attempt with a chance to pull within one score, and the Lions followed with a 15-play drive culminating in Montgomery’s touchdown.
Love finished 22 of 36 passing for 246 yards for the Packers.
Jerry Jacobs had two interceptions for the Lions, who followed up their seven-sack performance in last week’s win over the Atlanta Falcons with five more sacks on Thursday.

Super Bowl LVII: The Patrick Mahomes takeover
Tumblr media
PHOENIX (News4usonline) - Patrick Mahomes is the best player in football. He’s proved it all season. If you want to go by the numbers, Mahomes dominated the NFL as he led the Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl for the third time in his six seasons in the league. That in itself is crazy if you think about it.  For the season, Mahomes threw for 5,250 yards and 41 touchdowns. Compared to the 12 interceptions he threw, Mahomes had a stupendous season. Adding to those totals is the fact that Mahomes lost his so-called security blanket in rocket wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who left the team via trade for greener monetary pastures with the Miami Dolphins.
Tumblr media
KANSAS CITY, MO - JANUARY 29: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15) heads out of bounds in the last seconds of the AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 29th, 2023 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. (Photo by William Purnell/Icon Sportswire) Without Hill, who often jet by defenders, Mahomes was expected to struggle. Instead, Mahomes thrived and got better as a passer. His completion percentage was the highest it's ever been in his career (67.1 percent) and he broke his own career passing mark for a season.  Oh yeah, the fact that he has led the Chiefs to play the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII has been no small feat. Just to get to this point, Mahomes and the Chiefs had to work their magic. For the fifth time in his short but legendary career, Mahomes has carried the Chiefs to the AFC Championship five times. This is nothing to sneeze at.  Mahomes does things on the football field that isn’t fair sometimes. My mistake. That would be a lot of times. He throws. He runs. He runs. He throws. It doesn’t matter. Mahomes will get you at one point or another.  The Cincinnati Bengals learned that lesson during the AFC title game. The week before, the Jacksonville Jaguars got a taste of Mahomes and a dazzling array of his passes and scrambling ability.  All that did was add up to two Kansas City wins in the postseason, and now they’re back in the saddle again representing the AFC in the Super Bowl, a stark difference from a year ago. After another great year last season, Mahomes and the Chiefs fell short of their ultimate goals when they blew a double-digit lead to the Bengals and lost in the AFC title game.  The Bengals lost to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI. Mahomes and the Chiefs got some revenge from their AFC rivals when they stormed back from a deficit to beat the Bengals on a field goal with seconds left in the game.  Mahomes, who passed for 326 yards and two touchdowns, gave Kansas City the lift it needed when he scrambled, high ankle sprain and all, to get the Chiefs in position to win the game. Take that Joe Burrow.  The play that put the Chiefs to win advance to Super Bowl LVII was simply a reflection of what Mahomes has meant to his ballclub this season. It also served as a reminder of the hunger to win that Mahomes has.  The defeat last year to Cincinnati was a lesson that motivated the team, Mahomes said during Super Bowl LVII’s media day.  “The loss, you learn that you can’t take things for granted,” Mahomes said. “You can’t come to a game and not have every box checked. I thought we did, but obviously, we didn’t and we ended up losing that game and served as motivation to get back to here.” The last time Mahomes and the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl, which wasn’t too long ago, they were smacked around by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense in an embarrassing 31-9 defeat in Super Bowl LV. After appearing in back-to-back Super Bowl games following the 2020 and 2021 seasons, the Chiefs saw their streak of playing in the big game end with a thud against Cincinnati.  That makes it all more special to be back again, Mahomes said.  “I think that it feels more special the older you get ‘cause you have the failure,” Mahomes said during a team press conference during Super Bowl week. “You have the failure of not getting to this game, and whenever you’re not here and then you get to be back on this stage again I think it gets more special because you never know how many times you’re going to get.”
Tumblr media
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes during Super Bowl LVII media day on Feb. 6, 2023. Photo by Dennis J. Freeman/News4usonline The Chiefs had the No. 1 offense during the regular season. Mahomes played a large part in that equation with his stellar play. He got rewarded for it, too. Mahomes was voted as the AP Most Valuable Player, the second such honor to come his way in the six years that he has been in the league The prize he really wants, though, is claiming his second Super Bowl win.      “I know what it feels like to win the Super Bowl now and to lose a Super Bowl,” said Mahomes. Winning it, even though I didn’t play my best game, I came through when it counted and was able to win it. And then in the loss, obviously, I left everything out there, but you lose that feeling you have in the locker room after is a terrible feeling because you’re so close to your ultimate prize. And so, you take motivation from that and try to do whatever you can to make sure you have that winning feeling because that’s one you can have forever as well.”      Read the full article

Tumblr media
Why is it called Super Bowl Game?
The Super Bowl is called such because it is the most significant and crucial game of the National Football League (NFL) season. Similar to how "super" indicates something is more effective or more important than others. The name "Super Bowl" was first used by Lamar Hunt, one of the founders of the American Football League (AFL), about the annual AFL-NFL championship game, which began in 1967. The name stuck and has been used ever since.
The finalists are decided through a series of playoff games leading up to the Super Bowl. The National Football League (NFL) has a total of 32 teams divided into two conferences. The American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Each panel has four divisions, with four teams in each division.
At the end of the regular season, the top six teams from each conference (based on their win-loss record) advance to the playoffs. The top seed from each conference receives a bye week, while the remaining teams play in the wild-card round. The winners of these games advance to the divisional round, where they face the top-seeded teams from their conference.
The winners of the divisional round games then advance to the conference championships. Where the AFC champion is decided, and the NFC champion is determined. The two conference champions play in the Super Bowl for the championship.
The Packers and Chiefs contested the first Super Bowl Game on January 15, 1967. The Packers won 35-10.
The 2015 New England Patriots-Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl Game had 114.4 million viewers.
In Super Bowl XXIX, the 49ers defeated the Chargers 49-26.
Best valuable player award, the Super Bowl MVP, has been awarded since Super Bowl III. The first MVP was New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath.
Michael Jackson, Madonna, Beyoncé, and The Rolling Stones headline the Super Bowl halftime show, which is a major draw.
The average Super Bowl 30-second ad cost $5.5 million in 2021.
Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest food days in the US. With 1.3 billion chicken wings, 11.2 million pounds of avocado, and 14,500 tonnes of chips eaten.
Super Bowl XIV, hosted at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, had the biggest attendance of 103,985.

Unprecedented 50 NFL Coaches & Former Players Across Eight NFL Teams To Support First-Ever Campaign Honoring Coach Greg Knapp This December
Tumblr media
Eight NFL teams today announced that select coaches, athletes and staff will participate in different ways to support the first-ever Coach Knapp fundraiser this December, which will benefit The Coach Knapp Memorial Fund. The fund exists to educate drivers on the dangers of distracted driving, reduce the number of distracted driving related deaths, and promote distracted driving awareness reform. The fund was created by his wife Charlotte and close friend and agent Jeff Sperbeck, to honor the legacy of Greg Knapp who tragically passed away in July 2021 after being hit by a distracted driver while he was bicycling. Coach Knapp was known for climbing the stadium stairs before every single NFL game he coached over his 25 season career. All will be tagged #knappstairclimb on social platforms.
An image of the shoes being worn this weekend can be found at https://www.knappmemorial.org/
“We can think of no better way to honor Greg’s legacy and raise awareness for such a simple, but vital cause than by doing one of the activities he loved the most, climbing the stairs on gameday,” said Steve Mariucci, former NFL head coach and one of Knapp’s key mentors, who is now at analyst on The NFL Network. “To see the amount of support this has gotten is really touching, and most importantly, we firmly believe it will save lives well into the future.”
“Knapper was one of the very best teammates I’ve ever been around. His Energy, optimism and high standards as a coach made such an impact on anyone who was fortunate to be around him,” added Dallas Cowboys Defensive Coordinator, Dan Quinn, another of Greg Knapp’s loyal fellow coaches, “Please join me in making sure his legacy as a great teammate and friend lives on.”
At the time of his passing, Knapp was recently named Passing Game Coordinator of the New York Jets under head coach Robert Saleh, after serving as an assistant coach for over a quarter of a century with the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders, Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. Known as a “quarterback whisperer,” Greg coached some of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history helping chart the careers of many young athletes with kindness, humor and trust.
In honor of Coach Knapp, NFL coaches, players, executives and alumni will participate in raising funds and awareness at each NFL stadium prior to team warm ups between Week 14 (Dec. 11th), Week 15 (Dec. 18th) or Week 16 (Dec. 24th) of the NFL season. In addition, coaches and staff from several teams will wear custom designed shoes honoring Coach Knapp’s legacy as part of the annual “My Cause, My Cleats” celebration the weekend of December 4th. The shoes will be designed by several local artists working with each team. Participating coaches and former players will include: Steve Mariucci, Dan Quinn, Peyton Manning, Joe Lombardi (LA Chargers), Chris Strausser (Indianapolis Colts), Frank Pollack (Cincinnati Bengals), Jeff Ulbrich, TJ Yates, among many others. Teams confirmed to participate include: New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers.
Fans, athletes, and coaches at any level can also participate wherever is most convenient to them across the country, such as apartment building stairs or a high school sports stadium. Images will be shared on various social channels.
Registration is $100 per climber, with proceeds going to The Coach Knapp Memorial Fund. Details can be found at https://www.knappmemorial.org/stairclimb
Additional participants at other teams will be announced in the coming weeks.
