Finally sat down and banged out the rest of the Shaman King remake the past couple days and.......I ain't gonna lie............I think I prefer the 2001 version so much more

There were bits from the new adaption I adored like Matamune, actually getting to see Yoh and Anna meet for the first time, seeing Yoh's mother and the other Patch officials!!! But Hao was not a threat or even slightly intimidating. The stakes honestly stopped being important when death stopped being a real threat and barrier to the group. Manta had no real arc or even purpose to being there except to show up and whine, Ryu getting shafted so badly as a whole, and it got way too frustrating to see some of the minor characters be SO CLOSE to getting their moment only to be immediately slapped down by Anna or someone and essentially shoved to the side for no reason

Beautifully animated and I love the updated style, but ultimately a disappointing experience
