Hennesseyâs top 10 cars of all-time, celebrating 30 years of high-performance vehicle builds
It was back in 1991 that John Hennessey got married and modified his daily driver, a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 so he could enter the Nevada Open Road Challenge (finished fourth) and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, and make speed runs on the Bonneville Salt Flats (setting a class record 177 mph) and the Silver State Challenge (overall winner, again averaging 177 for the 90-mile distance).
Even with all that, Hennessey and his newlywed, Hope, found time that year to start a new business (he had been in the environmental remediation business), and 30 years later, Hennessey Performance of Sealy, Texas, has produced more than 10,000 high-performance vehicles for customers.
As part of its 30th anniversary celebration, Hennessey Performance shared its âtop 10 cars of all time:â
1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, entered Pikes Peak, two open-road races in Nevada and set class record at Bonneville
âFly Navyâ Venom 1000 Twin Turbo, based on 2005 Dodge Viper, won Road & Track supercar shootout that included a Bugatti Veyron.
VR1200, based on 2012 Cadillac CTS-V, ran 221 mph on Texas Toll Road.
HPE600 Corvette C7, 2013 model was first Corvette C7 to exceed 200 mph.
Hennessey Venom GT, 2010 Hennessey-built supercar that set Guinness World Record of 270.49 mph and reigned as worldâs fastest production car from 2014-2017.
VelociRaptor 600, based on 2012 Ford Raptor pickup truck, but with 600 horsepower and capable of a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.2 seconds
The Exorcist, based on 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 but with 1,000 horsepower and 883 pound-feet of torque, 0-60 in 2.1 seconds, top speed of 217 mph
VelociRaptor 6Ă6, 2017 intro of a $350,000, 6-wheel, 600-horsepower pickup truck
Hennessey Heritage Edition Mustang, 2018 intro, based on Ford Mustang GT350R but with 808 horsepower
Hennessey Venom F5, to be introduced in 2021 with 1,817 horsepower V8 and capable of 311 mph, 0-to-186 mph in 8.4 seconds
âAt the end of 1991, looking back at that year of motorsport, I realized Iâd learned the first rule of auto racing â if you want to make a small fortune in racing, start with a larger one!â Hennessey said in his companyâs anniversary news release.
âTo continue my passion, I knew Iâd have to find a way to pay for it. So, I thought, if Carroll Shelby and Alois Ruf could make a living by building and modifying cars then maybe I could, too â thatâs how our company began.â
In the beginning, working out of a rented garage with one other employee, Hennessey modified turbochargers and intake and exhaust systems for the 3000 GT, its cousin, the Dodge Stealth, and the Toyota Supra and Mazda RX-7.
Two years later, he created the 500-horsepower Dodge Viper Venom 550 for a customer and also produced an aftermarket hardtop for Dodgeâs exotic V10-powered roadster. Hennessey helped found the Viper Club of America, and his shop rolled out the Venom 600, and then the 650, which in 1997 posted a top speed of 203 mph.
By the turn of the century, the Venom 800 and 1000 models were ready, the shop staff grew to 5 employees, and the Hennesseys had 5 children, at which point John Hennessey retired from racing.
But while he left racing, he didnât leave race tracks and in 2004 bought the Lonestar Motorsports complex, a drag strip with return roads that he turned into a test track with a 30,000-square-foot production facility (staffed in 2021 by 50 employees and by students at the Hennessey Tuner School).Â
A Venom 800 won a 16-car supercar challenge staged by Car and Driver magazine, a Hennessey-tweaked Ford GT hit 234 mph, and in 2009 development was under way on the purpose-built Hennessey Venom GT, which a Chevrolet LS9 V8 would propel to more than 270 mph.
In 2012, Hennessey headlines continued with the Texas Toll Road SH130 being christened with the Hennessey Cadillac VR1200 hitting 221 mph and the Hennessey Camaro ZL1 running 204.
At The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in 2018, Hennessey unveiled his own 1,600-horsepower F5 engine, which was designed for a new Venom supercar scheduled to launch during 2021.
Hennessey has shared an hour-long anniversary video podcast:

Muscle Car News: Auctions, Stripes, Power and Reliability
By Dave Ashton
The world keeps spinning, the world keeps turning. The same is true for the muscle car world, both old and new. This week hasnât seen any new muscle cars drop, but there is at least a muscle car inspired SUV, a groundbreaking auction and a good bunch of custom builds available. So, letâs have a closer look at the latest muscle car shenanigans and if it gives any indications of any future trends.
1971 Plymouth âCuda With Patina May Hit $1M
Topline muscle car auction fair is usually required to be as pristine as a surgeonâs table to fetch top dollar prices. In this case, an restored 1971 Plymouth âCuda convertible is bucking the trend as there are only 17 examples of this rare muscle car. To also up the ante, its only 1 of 2 produced to be an export car.
This âPlayboy Cudaâ which got its name from its bunny icon on the rear valance, has standout features which include a V-Code 440 6-BBL V8 engine, an A727 Torqueflight automatic transmission, EV2 Tor-Red exterior and power brakes. Although thereâs not much information about the carâs back history, it was apparently in storage for over 35 years, having the drivetrain and mechanicals refreshed a few years ago to make it driveable. The rest of the car is as it rolled out from the factory.
The estimated value is $500,000 â $700,000, but whispers say that to the right buyer, the price could hit anywhere near the $1M mark. If this particular Mopar takes your fancy, check out the auction listing here.
Dodge Durango Hellcat
Ok, the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT maybe an SUV, but before this current generation is phased out, it will feature the supercharged 6.2L Hellcat V8. 2021 is a bit too far away for some, so the guys at Vector Motorsports made their own version from the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 factory edition and added a ProCharger blower.
The ProCharger is a centrifugal type supercharger, which uses belts instead of exhaust gases. Which means the power isnât as instant as found on a roots or twin-screw type, but the ProCharger can still produce gobs of power. This setup producing more than 700hp to all four wheels.
To cope with the extra power, other goodies have been added, such as a full Motion Control Suspension and other engine upgrades. You can check out its performance at the Michiganâs Gingerman Raceway in the video below.
youtube
Hennesseyâs 1,012 HP Dodge Charger Hellcat
The widebodied Dodge Charger Hellcat may please most, but that hasnât stopped the guys at Hennessey Performance performing their usual wizardry and producing more power. Their new upgrade package ramps up the regular 707 hp version to 1,012 hp and 969 lb-ft, of torque.
This equates to 817 hp and 730 lb-ft at the rear wheels and according to Hennessey translates to a 60 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds at 141 mph.
youtube
For some truly custom muscle car work, Hemi Autoworks and Ellsworth Racing have teamed up to produce a Hybrid of a 1970 Dodge Challenger, with a Dodge Viper chassis and Hellcat engine. A Kong Performance supercharger has also been fitted, but to stretch the Viper chassis over the Challenger body, a total rebuild was needed, which you can check out from the link above.
Why the Stripes?
The ubiquitous stripes that run down the length of a muscle car obviously increase the power 10 fold, but where did they originate? Itâs a feature we more or less take for granted these days, but racing stripes played an important part back in the early days of racing.
These days, racing stripes are mainly used to increase the visual appeal of a vehicle, but back in the day they were an essential visual cue to differentiate one car from another in a race. Back in the day before by the second video coverage and multiple monitor viewpoints, pit crews had to use their own built-in optics to spot their cars. Stripes made this job far easier, along with adding a touch of panache to the carâs look.
Slapping a single or double stripes down the length of the car was the first stage, with variations to the theme added by different manufacturers. For instance, the Corvette 1996 Grand Sport had two small red hash marks or small stripes on each fender, which echoâed the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport with the same markings. These were originally duct tape, with the color red being just a happy accident.
Modern muscle cars may charge big for the stripe option, but at least now you know itâs not just a vanity thing, but based on racing car history.
Dodge Hit Big in Quality Survey
Dodge have hit the top spot of the J.D. 2020 US Initial Quality Survey which ranks problems with domestic brands in the first 90 days of owning the things.
Dodger owners only encountered on average 1.4 problems, while the likes of Tesla had 2.5 problems per vehicle.

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review: Luxurious, Solid on Any Road Surface
2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit February 2020 Lime Kiln Road, Adirondacks
The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee is almost a decade old, and yet itâs currently the best-selling midsize SUV on the market: 242,969 sold last year, 200,000-plus most for much of the past two decades. The current body design has been around since 2011, there are 13 trim lines (model variants), multiple drivetrains, and varying levels of driver assistance technology.
Both despite its age and because of it â when the factory builds the same car year after year, reliability tends to improve â the Grand Cherokee has good fit and finish, a nicely controlled ride, a very nice interior on most trims, comfortable seats, and a solid infotainment system. Other than standard blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert, driver-assist features are optional. The two rows of seats are both roomy, but no third-row seat is offered.
If one owner says their Grand Cherokee does fine off-road but the interior looks just okay and the center stack display is small, a second owner says itâs pretty luxe and the display is nice, and a third says the cockpit looks great and did you know it goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, thatâs because, with those trim lines, thereâs one that costs $33,000, a couple that run around $50,000-$60,000, and one that runs $88,000 with a 707-hp engine. (No, thatâs not a typo.) You decide how much off-road capability, acceleration, and rear-seat entertainment you want, and you pay accordingly.
On the Road
I test drove the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. It is the premier Grand Cherokee for people who donât feel the need to have a strong Dodge Viper flavor to their SUV, in which case thereâs the performance-oriented Grand Cherokee V8 SRT and the high-performance Trackhawk. My test car totaled $62,775 with a four-wheel-drive system â not just all-wheel-drive â that added $3,000, a V8 engine that added $3,795, an eight-speed automatic, telematics, onboard Wi-Fi, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an AC socket and plenty of USB jacks, and a $1,995 rear entertainment system. At this point, youâre pushing into Audi-BMW-Mercedes territory.
My time in the Grand Cherokee Summit included a late-winter run into the New York State Adirondacks area around Lake Placid. A detour through hilly, rutted dirt roads covered with about eight inches of snow proved no problem at all.
The ride up and back into the northwoods, on interstate highways, was pleasurable, with a comfortable driving position, decent audio, and very little road noise. The Grand Cherokee Summit is plenty comfortable for four adults and a weekendâs worth of luggage. Even with cupholders front and back and bins in the doors, in-cabin storage for little items was lacking.
Good Navi, but Audio Could Be Better
The UConnect 4 infotainment system on my car was quite easy to use. But note that not all Grand Cherokees get UConnect 4 and 8-inch center stack screens. For years, Chrysler-Dodge-Ram products have had very good navigation and infotainment. It doesnât hurt that when you press the NAV button, the screen asks you, âWhere to?â The only people who donât get that are grade-school teachers looking for a verb and a complete sentence.
This was the first Harman Kardon premium audio system Iâve driven that wasnât breathtaking. It had 19 speakers and the issue â to me â was the woofer in the driverâs kick panel area. It was so heavily boosted that with the volume up and listening to my workout playlist (you know: the songs youâre too embarrassed to share), the sound pressure made my pant legs flap. So much so it felt like a Rockford Fosgate system, a brand happy to be known for heavy â sorry, deep â bass. It was much improved by turning the bass setting below the midpoint.
Not Enough Driver Assists
The advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are not all state-of-the-art and too many are extra-cost. Nothing wrong with blind-spot detection (standard) or lane keep assist (included on some trim lines). The optional ParkSense backup system auto-stops the car if you get too close to a stopped object. Thatâs all good. Adaptive cruise control goes down to zero but you have to manually resume forward travel, and if youâre stopped more than three seconds, ACC disengages.
Forward collision warning, a technology that requires a low-cost front-facing camera, is optional. Of the 18 midsize, two-row SUVs on the market, the only non-Jeep product lacking FCW is the revived Chevrolet Blazer, which, despite its heritage, is not a hard-core off-roader. Automatic emergency braking for highway and for city situations are also optional, and pedestrian AEB is not offered.
My Grand Cherokee Summit 4X4 was rated at 14 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 17 mpg overall. I averaged 20 mpg in a week of primarily highway driving.
So Many Models to Choose From
The 2020 Grand Cherokee comes in a dazzling array of trim lines, or model variants. Currently, there are 13. These prices include $1,495 shipping.
Laredo, $33,735 rear drive / $35,735 four-wheel drive Laredo E, $35,390 / $37,390 Upland, $37,685 / $39,685 Altitude, $39,830 / $41,830 North Edition, $40,285 4WD standard Limited, $41,545 / $43,545 Limited X, $46,640 / $48,640 Trailhawk $46,645 4WD standard Overland, $47,985 / $50,985 High Altitude, $50,730 / $53,730 Summit, $54,085 / $57,085 SRT, $70,085 4WD standard Trackhawk, $88,590 4WD standard
Itâs hard to describe each model other than to note the Laredo E is a nicer Laredo, not a hybrid; North Edition and Trailhawk target wintry off-roading and off-roading; and SRT and Trackhawk are high-performance SUVs that also go off-road and tow boats.
Should You Buy?
The Grand Cherokee is the best of the seven Jeep models you can buy in terms of modern-day amenities and reliability without sacrificing heavy snow / off-road driving. Itâs also the best-selling, with 26 percent of Jeepâs 923,2981 2019 sales. By our count, there are nearly 25 midsize, mainstream-price SUVs, and almost as many premium midsize SUVs. The top sellers, mainstream or premium, are:
SUV 2019 Sales Change Jeep Grand Cherokee 242,969 +8% Toyota Highlander 239,437 -2% Jeep Wrangler 228,042 -5% Ford Explorer 187,061 -28% Subaru Outback 181,178 +1%
(Note: The big falloff for the Ford Explorer came in the wake of quality-control problems while getting the sixth-generation Explorer and the sibling Lincoln Aviator into production at Fordâs Chicago assembly plant.)
The Jeep Cherokee is not an entry edition of the Grand Cherokee but a separate model eight inches shorter than Grand Cherokeeâs 190 inches, with a base four-cylinder engine and not quite as refined.
The Grand Cherokee is your best choice among midsize SUVs if you want an one that goes off-road, not just negotiate a lightly plowed gravel road near the ski slope, and does it with a reasonable amount of passenger comfort. As a bonus, some Grand Cherokees can tow up to 7,200 pounds; the rest tow at least 3,500 pounds. If you have little kids (two), the dual rear entertainment system may be worth the healthy price. The V6 engines are good and the V8s are better but gas mileage suffers.
The mainstream trim lines fare well against the Chevrolet Blazer and Ford Edge. The roomier, longer, three-row Ford Explorer is also a competitor for those who value towing capacity. The Toyota 4Runner is very good off-road but not as smooth otherwise. If you want a competent all-around vehicle, look also at the Subaru Ascent, Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Hyundai Santa Fe. The Dodge Durango is a cousin to the Grand Cherokee, is longer, and has three rows of seats, but isnât as skilled off-roading.
The Grand Cherokee upper trim lines compete nicely against premium brands. But itâs hard to match the NVH and highway manners of say, a BMW X5, when you go into battle in a design released the same year Ke$ha debuted We R Who We R.
Other top midsize SUVs donât map to Grand Cherokeeâs off-roader ethic. The Lexus RX is all-around excellent but is not what you want going off-road or hauling a trailer. The Mazda CX-9 is the sportiest and most fun to drive, but without the cargo capacity.
Jeepâs other sales advantage is that Grand Cherokee buyers are predisposed toward USA vehicles. According to JD Power research, 76 percent of Grand Cherokee owners say they prefer buying from a domestic company versus 58 percent for the midsize SUV segment as a whole. That means Grand Cherokee owners may not cross-shop the sporty Korean-flagged Kia Telluride (three rows but still midsize), even itâs built in Alabama, and the similar Hyundai Palisade. The Grand Cherokee would win on off-road driving. But in other areas, Kia and Hyundai are extremely competitive, particularly NVH and driver assists.
A new Grand Cherokee should be introduced this year as a 2021 model. Given how well Jeep has done to keep the fourth-generation model competitive, the new model should be impressive.

Watch: This Complete Dodge Demon Engine Build Sped Up Is So Satisfying To Watch
In an era when pushed induction has allowed automakers to use smaller sized, more efficient engines (when they're not really turning to electrification, that is), Avoid stands out as an industry leader with regards to big, beefy internal-combustion power. The story of the supercharged Hemi OF V8 engines that have become known as Hellcats (and that Avoid seems happy to drop into almost anything in the lineup now) might soon come to an end, however , in the event that CEO Tim Kuniskis was severe . In the meantime, enthusiasts can wonder at products like the Challenger Devil and Durango Hellcatâbut what really goes into Dodge 's V8s to make all of them so powerful? Well, for those using a mechanical inclination, a Hagerty Redline Rebuilds video that Graveyard Carz recently shared on the Facebook page provides a quick look in a full Demon engine build within semi-timelapse form.
You need to watch this fascinating video. It' s just over 3 minutes lengthy and you see a complete engine develop and test drive of the 840 hp Demon! INCREDIBLE!!!
Posted simply by Graveyard Carz on Tuesday, February 2, 2021
It only lasts just over three moments but features a Demon engine accumulated from the bare engine block. Perhaps probably the most amazing parts of the watching encounter is seeing a mechanic placing the Hemi V8's size directly into proportionâimagine this hunk of steel producing 840 horsepower!
RELATED: 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Pulls Over 700 RWHP At the Dyno
With some clever editing, the nut products and bolts appear to crawl across the engine itself, dropping into spot to secure the rotating assembly, crankshaft, pistons, and valves. Another unexpected detail that emerges is exactly how wide the V8's two canister banks sit from each otherâthe 90 degree angle might be hard to psychologically picture once the power plant will get shoehorned into a Demon's engine these types of.

Once the regulators, springs, lifters, and camshafts are installed, it's on to the Demon's enormous supercharger. That blower displaces 2 . 7 liters on its own âlarger than most of the turbo-fours that will power commuter cars these daysâand the twin screws look like these kinds of are about a foot long each. Right after bolting on the supercharger housing plus connecting the drive belts, the particular engine sits on display before the movie cuts to a few requisite clips of the Demon shredding rubber thanks to the create that just elapsed.

[SF] First Day in the Space Force
[SF] First Day in the Space Force
â
0830 GMT, 10 August, 2051
U.S.O.S. Gladius, Low Earth Orbit
âSo tell me, Private First Class, why did you join my glorious Space Force?â First Sergeant Jennings floated at the foot of his office module on the U.S.O.S. Gladius. His module was adorned with various trinkets from a long career in the Force. Going away presents from previous commands were securely fastened to the walls. A large assortment of challenge coins from a multitude of units, events, and various training exercises were magnetically attached to their custom wooden display box. He sipped his morning coffee from a sealed mug through a straw designed for the lack of gravity.
âI asked you a question, PFC,â First Sergeant Jenningsâ voice was endearing, but stern. He understood the very junior position his subordinate was in, and tried to sympathize.
âIâm sorry, First Sergeant. I still feel like Iâm just getting oriented.â PFC Garciaâs voice sounded weird--tiny and juvenile as he stood in the best parade rest posture he could muster in the presence of the First Sergeant. The top half of the junior-enlisted Spacerâs body was drifting ever so slowly while the First Sergeant, clearly a zero-g veteran, just floated completely motionless, arms folded across his chest, not even utilizing his Force-issue mag boots.
A few months ago, PFC Garcia had never been in zero-g before. Eighteen years spent living on Earth, feet firmly planted on the ground, looking up at the stars, then suddenly you join the Space Force and up is now relative. Walls are also ceilings and floors. Youâre issued your mag boots, uniforms, and underwear and thatâs all you have to your name. You are stripped down to the bare essentials and built back up into a Spacer--bred to serve American interests in space, and protect freedom and the American way of life.
You spend three months in Recruit Training (âboot campâ) learning about military tactics, Space Force etiquette, and becoming part of the Force, but they only give you two weeks of actual zero-g training to prepare you for a potential career spent in it, and itâs only simulated zero-g. Now here he was, standing on the brand new âPride of the Forceâ: The U.S.O.S. Gladius. Still fresh out of boot camp and expected to perform his job to the best of his 18 year old ability.
âGet used to it.â First Sergeant Jennings straightened his posture as much as the lack of gravity would allow. âI remember my very first day at my first unit.â He plucked one of the coins from his collection and stared at it for a second before slowly nudging it towards PFC Garcia. Weightlessly, it drifted end over end until he grabbed it with his hand and looked it over. It was a black and red coin with the Space Force logo on one side, with the official motto, âGuardian Angelsâ and âSince 2021.â On the reverse side, a unit logo from the Space Forceâs very first orbital combat unit, the Black Vipers.
âBack then, we didnât have half the training you new guys get or those crazy-ass mag boots youâre wearing. We had to figure it all out on our own, maneuvering through corridors half the size of any youâll find on the Gladius, puking our damn guts out for weeks before we got used to zero-g, all the while dodging incoming enemy fire and learning the basics of orbital mechanics on the fly. And we had to use hand-me-downs from the Marine Corps and Navy...â
The First Sergeant went on a long tangent, talking about his long and eventual career in the Space Force. He talked about his first time blasting off in the old Falcon rockets to get into space. He touched on his deployment to Mars, his time at Space Force Base Tranquility on the moon, his harrowing experiences on the U.S.O.S. Ascendant Horizon when he was a âbootâ, and the men heâd lost in orbital combat. How the rifles back then kicked your entire body back and they had make sure their backs were against something in order to fire accurately. None of the modern ârecoil-compensationâ technology existed back then. His voice and demeanor expressed incredible pride in a career well lived, in service to oneâs country and to oneâs Force.
Finally he asked Garcia where heâll be working.
âIâve been assigned to work with work center 550, First Sergeant.â
The First Sergeant chuckled lightly.
âIâm an Orbital Facilities Maintenance and Sanitation Technician, First Sergeant.â
The First Sergeant chuckled again as he heard the official job title, betraying the fact that he was about to lie.
âWell, son, every job in the Force is vital to the mission as a whole,â He said, clearly quoting the recruitment ads. âEven the ones that...lack in the glory and flair that other Spacers are used to. Very well, Private First Class. Show up on time, do your job, and donât get fucking stuck in the trash compactors. Dismissed.â
PFC Garcia snapped to attention and followed the proper military dismissal procedures taught to him in Space Force Recruit Training. It was difficult enough getting them perfect in gravity, and it definitely looked less than perfect in zero-g, but he did his best at a proper military dismissal.
Slowly, he exited the office modules that made up the Commanding Officer and First Sergeantâs modules, walking on the bulkhead that had been designated the âfloor,â passing by a few young enlisted office clerks along the way.
The U.S.O.S. Gladius was huge--the biggest, most advanced station the Space Force had ever conceived. It acted as the central transportation hub for ships heading off on deployment to Mars, the moon, and other celestial destinations the Force deemed necessary to visit or protect. And he was extremely excited to be a part of its mission and serve his country with honor.
The new mag boots were still a challenge to use, but they were better than the original models and he still was proud to wear them. It filled him with an overwhelming sense of pride to be a part of something greater than himself, and to serve his country. Plus, it was incredible to be in space. Thirty-five years ago, only highly-trained, hyper intelligent âmasters-in-their-fieldâ astronauts got to visit space and experience true weightlessness. Now here he stood, a basically-trained 18 year old Spacer. This was sure to be an incredible experience.
He passed by many other members of the Space Force, giving each of them a proper greeting of the day and saluting those who wore shiny rank insignias. Some were walking on the same bulkhead, much more gracefully using the mag boots. Others were floating down the corridors âold school-style,â using handrails and propelling themselves in a certain direction. All were wearing the proper uniform of the day--deep grey multi-camouflage blouses, trousers, and covers, all designed to blend in with the empty void of space...not that their daily uniforms were ever actually used in orbital combat. There were ultra special, armored pressure suits for that.
PFC Garcia was in his perfectly-fitted, freshly pressed formal check-in attire--a slate grey suit-like jacket and pants with polished black military-issue magnetic-heeled boots, a shiny gold belt and a black tie. A single colorful ribbon was fixed to the left breast, indicating that he joined the military during a time of war, and a square shooting badge was pinned underneath it, displayed for all to see that he did pass rifle qualifications, even if only just barely. On each shoulder, a single crimson chevron indicated the rank of Private First Class. Garcia had worked hard in boot camp to earn that rank, gaining the prestige and respect of the drill instructors as his platoonâs Guide--the leader of leaders in a boot camp platoon. He felt a strong sense of pride getting to wear his hard-earned chevrons.
After winding through many corridors on the station, sometimes having to unclamp his mag boots to jump âupâ into a new direction, since the lack of gravity did not limit engineers to merely build along the horizontal axis, he finally arrived at the hatch to work center 550.
He approached the hatch and hesitated for a split second. His heart pounded as he reached a hand out for the thick latch that secured the hatch. He thought for a second, this is everything that I joined for--to serve my country and advance American interests and dominance in space. I am about to meet a group of like-minded individuals, who all joined for the same reasons as myself, who all just want to serve honorably and make a difference.
He put a big smile on his face and opened the hatch.
Immediately as he opened the door, he heard the piercing sound of a child-like scream echo off of the bulkheads and his head hit a floating metal cylinder as he stepped through. A small, young enlisted Spacer was curled up in a ball barreling towards him, weightless, screaming at the top of his lungs. Garciaâs eyes widened and he froze in the doorway. Before the man impacted, he came in contact with a group of the metal cylinders that had been neatly arranged just in front of the hatch. Garcia couldnât duck in time and the man went straight through the cylinders and knocked the wind out of him. His mag boots came unlatched from the deck and he flew backwards out of the hatch. He faintly heard the Spacers yell, âStrike!â and laugh hysterically as he toppled out of the doorway and back into the entrance corridor slamming his head on the outer corridor bulkhead.
It took him a few seconds to gain his bearings--figure out which way he was oriented. His check-in papers had scattered all across the area and it took a few minutes to gather them all up. He could hear his soon-to-be colleagues in the shop laughing their asses off as he composed himself and floated back towards the entrance.
One of the men was waiting for him at the entrance as he secured his boots back onto the bulkhead designated as the floor. This Spacer, however, wasnât magged onto the floor, but rather spinning slowly in the entryway.
âWelcome to 550, dumbass,â he said, still chuckling from the fun. âDaniels got extra points for getting a strike plus knocking your ass out.â
The only response Garcia could muster was, âUhhâŠâ
âIâm Lance Corporal Jacobson and Iâll be your daddy from here on out,â he continued.
A loud voice rang out from one of the office modules further back. âCleanup on aisle nine!â
âI got it, Sergeant!â Lance Corporal Jacobson yelled back. He presented a rather eerie smile to Garcia as he motioned to follow him, grabbing an electronic tablet along the way. He led Garcia to a double-wide module in the back of the work center.
This module was filled with tool boxes, cleaning supplies, and various other items and screens, all securely magged, bolted, or even duct taped to all five walls in the module. Despite Gladius Station being brand new and top-of-the-line, it seemed they still had to jerry-rig certain things and âmake it work.â
Lance Corporal Jacobson handed Garcia a black backpack, still smiling deviously. He tapped a few times on the tablet, then handed it over, pointing to a white box. âSign your name, new kid.â
Before he finished his hard-practiced signature, Lance Corporal Jacobson snatched the tablet away. He pointed at the tablet and scrolled through a few tabs, âThese are the active work orders. This one in green is yours. Here are the maps, publications, and anything else you might need. You are now active in work order 1311-51. Donât fuck it up, dumbass.â
PFC Garcia made my best attempt at a protest, âBut Lance Corporal, Iâm still in my uniâŠâ
âYou think I give half a flying fuck, PFC?! Weâve got mission-vital work to do here and the best way for you to learn your fucking job is some hands-on fucking goddamn training. You just got out of the schoolhouse so you should know what to do. Now go do your fucking job.â Lance Corporal Jacobsonâs voice was stern, but it was easy to tell he was holding back a smile. Garcia hadnât been yelled at since boot camp, and like any Force recruit, he had never enjoyed it. It was unexpected and caught him off-guard.
He straightened his posture. âAye aye, Lance Corporal.â He took the backpack and strapped it securely to his back. Holding the tablet in his hand, he strode out of the work center and back into the corridor, intent on tackling whatever this job was head-on.
It took Garcia about thirty minutes to find the location of the work request, but he finally arrived: the unisex restroom adjacent to the enlisted dining facilities of the station. When he opened the hatch, his senses were immediately overwhelmed and he almost vomited. What he saw was the most horrifying scene heâd ever experienced.
Shit.
Shit everywhere. On all the walls and floating weightlessly in the middle of the air, slowly spinning almost as if it was enjoying itself, mocking whoever had to clean it up. Clearly, someoneâs mostly-liquid business hadnât fully flushed, and the toilet had malfunctioned. Back on Earth, it wouldnât have been a big deal--maybe a small mess around the toilet as it flooded. Annoying and gross, yes. But still not a huge issue.
But in zero-g? Itâs a near-crisis. The vacuum suction on the toilet had failed, and apparently reversed, causing the shit to be distributed throughout the entire room.
Garcia watched helplessly as a small sphere of brown goo impacted spotless trousers of his pristine military uniform. At that exact moment, Garciaâs tablet beeped. A message appeared on the screen. It was from Lance Corporal Jacobson: âWelcome to the Space Force, dumbass. Make your country proud.â
He let out a deep sigh as the reality of his situation sunk in.
âGoddamnit.â

Dodge Automobiles For 2020
By Sawzag Ashton
Dodge, more than recent years have definitely been traveling the flag high for the muscles car. Variants of the Hellcat, the particular limited edition Demon and even souped upward SUVs have been causing a mix. 2020 looks like itâ s likely to follow similar proceedings. Maybe not having a groundbreaking new model, but much more likely building on the current success. To put it differently, model variants and slight adjustments to what is currently available.

This little video by Auto Territory gives an overview of possible models for 2020 from Avoid and some of the possible standouts. Thereâ s even rumor-mongering about a 2020 Dodge Viper, a likely rival to the mid-engine Corvette C8, yet unless this is a very limited edition operate, itâ s hard to see a completely fledged Viper coming back so quickly.
If you want a quick overview of the possible output from Avoid in 2020, then check out this particular video.

1300 HP 1968 Dodge Charger Custom Build
By Dave Ashton
While checking out this particular video which features a Roadster Store built 1300 HP Dodge Phone chrgr Custom, the whole debate of should you keep vintage muscles cars all original or personalize them debate came up as typical. No matter which side of the fence a person sit on, itâ s hard to believe when a vintage rideâ s outcome is as good as the one showcased here, itâ s definitely enhancing on a classic. If you take a rare optioned classic and start making big adjustments thatâ s one thing, but with foundation models where thereâ s a lot about, it should be down to your creativeness.
This 1968 Avoid Charger was an ongoing project within the Roadster Shop and was constructed completely from the ground up, dealing with every single inch of the car. It appears every inch of this Charger has already established some form of tweaking with only the core roof skin being unmodified based on the video.
The front from the roof has been lowered 1-1/2 ins, the front wheel openings moved ahead 4 inches and the front plus rear openings stretched. New doorway skins were added, aluminium cover and bumpers, a shortened include, new front and rear window valances and bulging the front fenders plus rear quarter panels to overstate the Coke bottle effect plus thatâ s just for starters.
The powerplant is a 488 ci. Gen II Viper V10 built by Nelson Racing Motors with two 67mm Precision turbos producing 1, 300 hp from 6, 200 rpm and one, 100 lb-ft of torque at five, 100 rpm, running through a Tales five-speed transmission. Brembo Gran Turismo 14-inch discs brakes all round, along with Roadster Shop suspension. The rest of the explanation of the vehicle you can find from the movie, but itâ s enough to express if you had a base model Avoid Charger and the money to do so, this particular wouldnâ t be far off the best Charger custom build.
