Seeing Rainbows
It is rare when music can withstand the passage of time, sounding just as good today as when it was released decades prior. Pretty much everything by the Beatles comes to mind, as does Hotel California by the Eagles, and the rock opera Tommy by The Who.
But let’s not forget Dark Side Of The Moon, by the British prog-rock band Pink Floyd. Songs from that album are in steady rotation on SXM Channel 26, my favorite station. So popular was this album that it remained on Billboard’s Top 200 for 724 consecutive weeks, from 1973 to 1988. That was back when people bought their music, and artists could make a tidy living from the proceeds.
Skip forward to this week, when Pink Floyd updated its profile pic on its Facebook page, and suddenly heads started exploding with dark forebodings. With the 50th anniversary of the album’s release rapidly approaching—1st March—the band opted for a stylized “50” that included the same prismatic imagery of the original album.
Tumblr media
It’s just that some people thought the band had gone “woke” and was making a statement of support for the LGBTQ community. Rainbows, anyone? Tell me you’re not a Pink Floyd fan without telling me you’re not a Pink Floyd fan.
As of this morning, there were 17,000 comments on that image alone. Who would have thought that something so simple as this would cause so many peoples’ undies to get in a bunch? And over a non-event in the first place? Sheesh.
Now please allow me to digress a bit. The word “woke” is perhaps to most over-used and misunderstood word being used these days. I bet that most of the people using it do not know its etymology, nor history of usage. Worse yet, it is used as a baseball bat against anyone with whom they disagree, and, typically, from Right to Left. All this in the last two years.
For the record, the first political usage of the word dates to 1962, and was used by African-Americans. Technically, it meant “alert to racial or social discrimination and injustice.” It was used sparingly from the 1940s forward, though, and only hit the zeitgeist by virtue of a New York Times article. More recently, it was used by BLM activists starting around 2016, but by 2021 had been co-opted by non-blacks as a derisive slur.
In other words, it never had anything to do with gay rights, veganism, women’s rights, or whatever seemingly deplorable cause du jour. But hey, “Go woke, go broke” became the rallying cry of the Alt-Right against any company or individual who dared go against their grain.
I do not allow politically motivated speech in my classes. It’s perfectly OK to disagree among us, even with me, about anything, but we must do so in a respectful manner. Don’t use the word “woke” unless you are trying to tell me you “woke up late and missed a deadline” or something like that.
But back to the music. Dark Side Of The Moon is arguably one of the best albums ever released. It has stayed relevant and current by virtue of being that good, but has also benefited from a little myth and lore too. It was in the mid-1990s that a newspaper columnist suggested pairing the album with the classic 1939 film, The Wizard Of Oz. Supposedly the music and lyrics matched the film’s actions minute for minute, as if it were a masterfully created soundtrack 34 years after the fact.
While the band has vehemently denied such intent, they have not argued with the free publicity. If it gets people playing your old album again, then have at it. Which brings me to my final point. In spite of the negativity and willfully exposed ignorance of many commenters, there might just be a silver lining on the dark cloud of social media.
You see, Pink Floyd is now getting tons of unpaid publicity about the anniversary, which necessarily includes a remastered release of the album on vinyl and CD, and even a planetarium tour pairing the music to a star show. While it is regrettable that so many people failed to see the intent of the new logo, and were quick to make accusations, it is also admirable of Pink Floyd to kind of just let it all happen. The PR machine can take on a life of its own.
And Money is more than just a song on that album. It’s what these guys are going to continue making. Got to keep the loonies on the path.

From the Gridiron to Garment: A Scholarly Examination of the Production of Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys
Abstract: This extensive exploration delves into the intricate journey of Philadelphia Eagles jerseys from their conception on the drafting table to their final placement in the closets of fervent fans. It examines the multifaceted processes—ranging from design innovation and material selection to manufacturing ethics and distribution mechanisms—that contribute to the creation of these emblematic pieces of sportswear. Through this scholarly analysis, the paper aims to unveil the complexities and methodologies behind the manufacture of officially licensed NFL apparel, specifically focusing on the Philadelphia Eagles jerseys, while scrutinizing the ethical considerations and sustainability practices within this globally interconnected industry.
Tumblr media
Introduction: The Philadelphia Eagles, a team with a rich history within the National Football League (NFL), not only contribute significantly to American sports culture but also to the global sports apparel market. The production of their jerseys encompasses a complex network of design, logistics, and marketing that extends far beyond the immediate realm of sports, tapping into global manufacturing practices, consumer culture, and environmental policies.
Design and Innovation:
The initial phase in the creation of Philadelphia Eagles jerseys involves a meticulous design process, where traditional aesthetics meet modern technological advancements. Adobe’s "Color of Sports" report (Adobe, 2023) outlines the significance of color psychology in sports uniforms, emphasizing how the Eagles' green and silver palette is engineered to evoke a sense of unity, aggression, and reliability among players and supporters alike.
Material Selection and Ethical Sourcing:
A crucial component in the manufacturing of these jerseys involves the selection of materials that ensure durability, comfort, and minimal environmental impact. The "Sustainable Apparel Coalition's Materials Score" (Sustainable Apparel Coalition, 2022) provides a framework for evaluating the ecological footprint of textiles used, underscoring the NFL's commitment to integrating recycled polyester fibers, sourced through ethical supply chains, into their merchandise.
Manufacturing Excellence and Labor Ethics:
The shift towards ethical manufacturing practices is illuminated in a study by the Fair Labor Association (FLA, 2021), which evaluates labor conditions in global apparel production facilities. This study accentuates the NFL’s adherence to fair labor standards in the creation of Philadelphia Eagles jerseys, ensuring that every piece is a product of equitable and humane manufacturing processes.
Distribution and Fan Engagement:
The final leg of a Philadelphia Eagles jersey’s journey is its distribution and eventual purchase by fans. The NFL's strategic partnership with global retailers and e-commerce platforms is outlined in a report by McKinsey & Company (2021), detailing how digital innovation and logistical efficiency are pivotal in ensuring these cherished jerseys reach fans worldwide, fostering a stronger connection between the team and its global supporter base.
Conclusion:
The production of Philadelphia Eagles jerseys is emblematic of a larger narrative that encapsulates technological innovation, ethical manufacturing, and global distribution practices. This academic analysis serves not only to appreciate the tangible aspects of sports apparel but also to consider the broader implications on labor rights, environmental sustainability, and global consumer culture. As we don the green and silver, it behooves us to recognize the expansive journey these garments undertake, reflecting broader themes within our interconnected global landscape.

This exploration, through its academic rigor and scholarly perspective, highlights the myriad considerations behind the Philadelphia Eagles jerseys, offering insights into the interplay between sports culture and global manufacturing practices.

Gold IRA Tax Rules
Tumblr media
A Gold IRA is a type of individual retirement account (IRA) that allows investors to hold physical gold, silver, platinum, or other precious metals as a long-term investment.
Some important factors to consider when investing in a Gold IRA include:
Custodian: You'll need to work with a custodian or trustee that specializes in self-directed IRA accounts and has experience handling precious metals. Look for a custodian that has a good reputation and transparent fee structure.
Eligible metals: Not all precious metals are eligible for inclusion in a Gold IRA. Make sure that the metals you want to invest in are IRS-approved for use in an IRA.
Fees: As with any investment, there will be fees associated with a Gold IRA. Be sure to understand the custodian's fee structure and how fees will impact your overall returns.
Storage: Gold IRAs require a secure storage facility to hold the physical metals. Make sure the storage facility is insured and meets all regulatory requirements.
Tax implications: As with any IRA, there are tax rules that govern Gold IRAs. Be sure to understand the tax implications of investing in a Gold IRA and how they may impact your overall retirement planning.
Precious Metals Allowed in IRA
The IRS has specific rules on which precious metals are allowed to be held in an IRA. The eligible metals are:
Gold: Including American Gold Eagles, Canadian Gold Maple Leafs, and South African Krugerrands.
Silver: Including American Silver Eagles, Canadian Silver Maple Leafs, and Australian Silver Kookaburras.
Platinum: Including American Platinum Eagles and Canadian Platinum Maple Leafs.
Palladium: Including American Palladium Eagles and Canadian Palladium Maple Leafs.
It's important to note that not all coins or bullion are eligible for inclusion in an IRA. The metal must meet certain fineness and purity requirements, and there may be additional restrictions on collectible coins. It's always a good idea to consult with a reputable precious metals dealer or a financial advisor who specializes in self-directed IRAs to ensure that the metals you want to invest in are eligible for inclusion in an IRA.
Gold IRA Contribution Limits
The contribution limits for a Gold IRA are the same as for a traditional IRA. For 2021, the maximum annual contribution limit for those under age 50 is $6,000, and those over age 50 can make an additional catch-up contribution of $1,000, for a total of $7,000.
It's important to note that contribution limits apply to the total amount contributed to all of your IRA accounts in a given tax year, including any Gold IRA contributions. Also, if you're eligible to make contributions to both a traditional IRA and a Gold IRA in the same tax year, your combined contributions to both accounts cannot exceed the annual contribution limit.
Gold IRA Company Reviews
There are several companies that offer Gold IRA out of which few are good in business. Here are a few options to consider:
BullionVault: BullionVault is a UK-based online marketplace for buying and selling physical gold and silver bullion. They offer vault storage options in various locations around the world.
The Royal Mint: The Royal Mint is the UK's official mint and offers a range of investment products, including gold and silver coins and bars. They also offer secure storage options for investors.
Gold Investments: Gold Investments is a UK-based precious metals dealer that specializes in gold and silver bullion coins and bars. They also offer vault storage options for investors.
Physical Gold: Physical Gold is a UK-based precious metals dealer that offers a range of investment products, including gold and silver bars and coins. They also offer secure storage options and pension schemes for investors.
As with any investment, it's important to do your own research and due diligence before choosing a company to work with like choosing gold IRA investment guy who guides you through the process in the best possible form..
Gold and Silver IRA
A Gold and Silver IRA, also known as a Precious Metals IRA, is a type of self-directed Individual Retirement Account that allows investors to hold physical gold and silver coins or bars as part of their retirement portfolio.
To set up a Gold and Silver IRA, an investor must first establish a self-directed IRA account with a custodian or trustee that allows for investments in precious metals. The custodian or trustee will then help the investor purchase physical gold and silver, which is stored in a secure vault or depository.
The main benefits of investing in a Gold and Silver IRA are diversification, protection against inflation and market volatility, and potential tax advantages. However, it's important to note that there are fees associated with setting up and maintaining a Gold and Silver IRA, and there are restrictions on the types of metals that can be held in the account.
It's also important to choose a reputable custodian or trustee and to do your own research before making any investment decisions.
How to Open a Gold IRA Account?
To open a Gold IRA account, you will need to follow these general steps:
1. Choose a reputable custodian or trustee that allows for investments in precious metals. Some popular options include:
Regal Assets
Advantage Gold
Lear Capital
Augusta Precious Metals
2. Open a self-directed IRA account with the chosen custodian or trustee. This process will typically involve filling out an application, providing personal identification and tax documentation, and funding the account.
3. Select the type and number of precious metals you want to hold in your Gold IRA account. The custodian or trustee will assist you in purchasing the metals and arranging for their storage in a secure vault or depository.
4. Ensure that your Gold IRA account is in compliance with all applicable IRS rules and regulations. This may include maintaining proper documentation and reporting on the account's activity.
It's important to do your own research and due diligence before choosing a custodian or trustee for your Gold IRA account, as well as to consult with a financial advisor or tax professional to ensure that the investment aligns with your overall retirement goals and financial situation.

2021 American Eagle Coins
The American 2021 American eagle coin is the twenty-second in a series celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the First World War. This design was used on all coins that were made in commemoration of this milestone in world history. It was not long after the First World War that a new struggle for power began in earnest. Germany and Japan were locked in a never-ending war, and while they were not fighting directly on the battlefield, they had enough talent to create a new style of warfare. Many Americans, especially during the Second World War, did not realize the importance of the coins, but they were very aware of the symbolism involved.
Tumblr media
American 2021 American eagle coins are considered very valuable today, even by those collectors who consider these coins worthless. There are many different reasons for this. Firstly, they are quite large, compared to most other commemorative pieces. Secondly, they are unique coins, with no common counterpart. Thirdly, the bullion itself is quite rare. Finally, the design itself is quite impressive, bringing its own uniqueness to the coin itself.
American 2021 American eagle coins are available in two different styles. One is the bullion coin, which has a one or a two-dollar face value. The coins often have a gold rim around the edge of the design. In addition, they may also feature a double eagle on the obverse side of the design. Some collectors prefer to purchase these types of bullion American eagle coins in their original packaging, which has an extra of the original gold rim.
The second style of American eagle coin, called reverse design 1 oz gold coins, actually contains several different images of the eagle, but on different sides. They generally have a larger back face than the reverse design, which makes them easier to see. Some reverse design gold coins also include inscriptions. For example, the "Liberty" eagle may include the word Liberty, and may also include the date, which is surrounded by four Latin letters. Each of these may also contain a small Liberty Eagle image.
American 21st-century eagle gold coins are available in several different styles. They are available as regular bullion coins, in both the Regular and Reverse designs, as well as some limited edition varieties. In the case of the reverse designs, they may contain four differently designed reverses. Among them is a bald eagle with wings spread wide, which is the most widely recognized version of the heraldic eagle. The reverse designs also commonly contain the names of members of the American military. Such a combination is referred to as the US Air Force series, which was previously only available in copper.
As a commemorative gold coin, American 21st century coins are highly popular. They are also much sought after as a gift for collectors, or to give away as gifts for any occasion. For the 35th anniversary of the US, a special gold coin is designed to celebrate the Freedomclamation. The reverse designs of both the gold and silver coins carry the attributes of the American eagle and will help mark the 35th anniversary of America's independence.

Fall Haul 2021 & Wishlist
Tumblr media
Since the fall season has pretty much returned, I have a new wishlist of autumn fashion items. You can see it most reflected on my Fashion Inspo: Fall/Winter board and my Fashion Inspo: Goth/Alternative board on my Pinterest.
This year, I decided to shift my focus from what I usually invest in--shirts, sweaters, and dresses--to items I don’t invest enough in, like shoes, accessories, skirts, pants, and etc. I’m really proud of myself for this shift, because I have made the mistake of investing too much in shirts and dresses for way too long.
Of course, I will look at shirts and dresses too, but my main focuses are the clothing I just mentioned above. I think I hesitated to purchase items like that because they tend to be more expensive. In true Capricorn moon fashion, I’m very stingy with my money, moreso than ever, even when it comes to things I splurge in like fashion. I am way more picky, and I am more conscious of the items I choose. I watch not only for price point, but also versatility, longevity, and compatibility.
Versatility meaning: am I able to wear this with at least three outfits/occasions? Longevity meaning: how long would I want this to last for to feel like I got my money’s worth? Will it last how long I want it to last? And compatibility meaning: does this fit into who I am and how I want to reflect that?
Anyway, here is a wishlist of autumn clothing. And I already own quite a bit of them so I’ll indicate if I have them already with this symbol here: <3
Shoes: I honestly am not a shoe person, so I get the kinds I want specifically and go. I invested a bit into new sneakers and things, so right now I have about 10 pairs of shoes. I had six or so before, but now I feel more complete and quenched, if you will.
Platform Mary Janes (black)
Platform Loafers (black and/or dark brown)
Combat boots (black) <3
Accessories: I do not have enough accessories. Particularly necklaces and earrings. I should invest more into them, but I just don’t for whatever reason. But I hope so this fall and the next coming year.
Waist chain belt (black + silver)
Chest chain harness (black + silver)
Long dangly earrings
Lace/fishnet socks (black/white)
Fishnet tights <3
Skirts: I love skirts, but I had like one skirt in my closet for the longest time. And now I have four, so that’s pretty impressive. And they’re not just any kind of skirts, they’re skirts I picked out very carefully and I’m pretty satisfied with my skirt collection now.
Pleated mini skirt (black) <3
Pleated mini skirt (white)
Maxi/midi skirts (black, dark earthy colors)
Plaid lace-up skirt <3
Plaid pleated skirt
Pants: I have quite a bit of pants, but only in one style. But I am putting this off because of the reason that I have pants. I just want more wide-legged jeans, and I do have one pair because I got a free pair of jeans for a rewards thing at American Eagle. But they’re hard to come by since they’re so trendy, even in thrift stores. Also, I really like American Eagle jeans, but I don’t have the funds for them except on special occasion. So these can wait until further notice~
Light-wash mom jeans
Medium wash mom jeans
Black wash mom jeans
Light wash mom jeans with rips <3
Anyway that’s it for my autumn fashion wishlist~ I hope to get the items when I can and if I have to wait another season, it’ll be worth it <3

What is Canadian Bullion?
"What is Canadian Bullion?" This is a question asked by many before they start investing in bullion coins or bars. The answers to this question will vary widely. The best answer will depend on why you are buying bullion and for what purpose. Some people buy Canadian bullion for investment, while others buy it as a collector's item.
" Canadians buy American Gold Eagle bullion for safekeeping. Based in Toronto, The business launched its web-based trading platform in April 2021. We are dedicated to educating consumers and the site is a great resource for research and free information on silver and gold investments."
Tumblr media
"Why should I buy Canadian coins?" The reasons range from the security of buying in a country that has a stable economy to the historical value of Canadian coins. One fact is certain; you can't go wrong when you buy Canadian coins.
"How do I sell my American coins? Our web-based system allows you to seamlessly sell your bullion or bar by providing an easy-to-use interface and advanced options for payment and shipping. You have unlimited options to buy and sell your assets. We offer secure, confidential payment options and guaranteed funds transfer procedures. No need to rely on third party payment gateways or brokers."
"Do you offer an electronic invoice option? How do we use it? Our customers benefit from the convenience of accepting and paying their invoices electronically. Electronic invoicing is especially useful for clients who send international funds, such as wire transfers."
"How do I buy and sell silver? Currently, we do not buy or sell silver coins. Customers may send us silver bars, bullion, scraps or bullion products. We accept payments using various methods including major credit card and e-check systems."
"What is Canadian bullion anyway? Bullion is a metal that does not derive its value from any particular currency. It is measured in carats or ounces. Carats are the weight of a particular coin and ounces are the mass, or weight, of a particular unit of currency. Buying and selling silver, gold, platinum and palladium coins are just some of the ways to buy and sell bullion."
The beauty of having your coins appraised and evaluated before you buy them is that the appraisal is unbiased. What is Canadian bullion? A great investment for the future, visit our www.canadianbullion.ca.
Canadian bullion comes in many forms. There are Canadian maple leaf coins, maple leaf Walking Liberty half-dollars, Canadian maple leaf coinage, Canadian maple leaf halves, and more. One of the most popular and sought after bullion are the Canadian Buffalo coin collection. Canadian Buffalo coins are guaranteed 100% legal and pure.
Canadian bullion was the first coin ever produced in the colonies of North America. Prior to the Revolutionary War, the British issued coins in the form of silver and gold. These coins were widely known as Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Coins. After the war was over, the American Colonists began to mint their own coins in the form of gold and silver dollar coins. Today, there is Canadian bullion in all denominations from one dollar to a thousand dollars.
When you buy Canadian bullion, it can be purchased at a local dealer's store or from an online site. Canadian bullion can also be purchased from an Internet site that offers the buying and selling of this precious metal. Canadian bullion is not anywhere near as expensive as American bullion. The smallest lots will usually sell for under one dollar each.
However, Canadian bullion, due to the country's location, tends to cost more due to the increased shipping costs associated with any larger quantities. The small lots may offer an excellent price however, and the potential buyer can decide if they want to spend the money or not.
Canadian coins can either come in the standard bullion format, or the "Canadians Proof Sets" which contains fifty one-karat gold coins. The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf design is quite rare and only available in the Proof set.
Another variation that is seen on some Canadian coins is the nine carat proof issue. The nine carat proof coins are normally considered very beautiful and fetch a higher price on the gold market.
Canadian bullion is used to buy jewelry pieces such as necklaces, earrings, pendants and so on. Canadian coins are often given as gifts to other collectors who value their personal coin collections.
You can find online merchants who offer what is Canadian bullion to be purchased and who can ship to your door. With careful shopping, you can have the American version of what is Canadian bullion available to buy.

Very Rare 1822 Gold Half Eagle Sells For $8.4 Million
The finest known 1822 half eagle sold for $8.4 million in the Stack’s Bowers Galleries March 2021 Las Vegas Auction, setting a new world record in the process. Graded AU-50 by PCGS, this historic $5 coin from the D. Brent Pogue Collection was offered March 25 in the firm’s Rarities Night session. It is now the most valuable U.S. Mint gold coin that has ever sold at auction, and has surpassed even the highest prices paid for a 1913 Liberty nickel, 1804 silver dollar, or 1933 double eagle.
The 1822 half eagle is a legendary American treasure and represents the lynchpin to a complete set of U.S. coinage. There are only three known specimens, two of which are permanently impounded in the National Numismatic Collection in the Smithsonian Institution. The Pogue-Eliasberg specimen sold by Stack’s Bowers Galleries is the only example in private hands and represents a unique opportunity to own this issue. Most of the great figures in American numismatics never possessed one, and many have been born and died without ever having had the chance to compete for one at auction.
Prior to the Stack’s Bowers Galleries sale, there had been only two occasions in American numismatic history in which an 1822 half eagle has sold at auction: the 1906 Harlan P. Smith Collection Sale and Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ 1982 sale of the Louis E. Eliasberg Gold Coin Collection. The Smith specimen was later donated with the Lilly Collection of gold coins to the Smithsonian Institution. The other Smithsonian example is traced to the Mint Cabinet Collection, where it had been since the 1830s.
The About Uncirculated Pogue Specimen was first acquired by Virgil Brand in 1899 and held in his vast collection until sold by his heirs in 1945. At that time it entered the unparalleled cabinet of Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., and became part of the only complete collection of U.S. coins ever formed. When the gold coins from the Eliasberg Collection were auctioned in 1982, the successful buyer was the young D. Brent Pogue in the early stages of building what would become the most valuable numismatic collection in history, a cabinet which has realized over $140 million in a series of sales by Stack’s Bowers Galleries from 2015 through 2021.
With a price realized of $8.4 million, the Pogue 1822 half eagle now takes pride of place in a new cabinet. It had been in only three collections over more than 115 years, and now a fourth collector has added their name to this exclusive roster. Generations may pass before even the most well-financed collectors, dealers, and museums have another opportunity to own this issue.
