I definitely think it’s interesting how they managed to separate Wallace from Wally, since originally he was supposed to actually be New 52’s Wally West

Interesting sure is a word for it considering just how badly they botched up his introduction! Dan DiDio, the co-publisher for DC at the time of his introduction, had a notorious dislike for Wally so I always have to wonder how much sway editorial had in first showcasing Wallace as a) an unrepentant delinquent who, for reasons completely unrelated, is also black and b) entirely different in personality from Wally himself who doesn't even like Barry.

Like. Wallace definitely isn't my favorite character--I'm pretty ambivalent about him in comparison to others--but I would've liked him a lot more if he had just been an OC like Avery. Having him be introduced as the new version of Wally kind of just spat at what the original character was supposed to be about and felt overall meanspirited on the writer's parts.
