John Robertson Architects (JRA) has confirmed the appointment of five new associate directors.
The new associate directors – who between them bring almost 50 years’ experience of working at JRA – are Nathalie Bergvall, Kerri Cooke, Etain Fitzpatrick, Angela St Clair-Ford and Mark Wibberley. Bergvall oversees design across all JRA’s projects, as well as bids and competitions. Cooke has a particular expertise in workplace refurbishment and reuse. Fitzpatrick’s experience focuses on delivering high-end developments which integrate public realm and infrastructure, often on constrained sites. The practice – founded in 1993 – has been involved with some of the most high-profile projects in London during the past decade including the Bush House and Aldwych Quarter, Great Arthur House, Bracken House, 33 King William Street and the recently completed Bloom, Clerkenwell. The appointments come at a time when the practice is looking to build on its existing portfolio of retrofitting Grade A office and mixed-used developments – particularly in London – while growing new workstreams in the workplace, sustainable retrofit, educational, residential, civic and other sectors.
Founding director John Robertson said: “The practice has built a strong reputation in the marketplace over the past three decades. The promotion of these five exceptional individuals recognises JRA’s evolution in recent years towards creating a portfolio of projects which places sustainability, diversity and wider ESG issues at its focus. It also reflects, I believe, our flexibility as an employer and our ability to nurture and encourage a committed team of top-quality designers.”
JRA is an award-winning AJ100 architectural practice with offices in London and Edinburgh. It employs around 60 people and its work has been recognised in recent years by organisations including the RIBA (National and London), the BCO, NLA and the Civic Trust.

Detroit’s Mosaic Youth Theatre wins $500,000 from Lewis Prize for Music
DeLashea Strawder says she "cried for four days" when she got the big news.Strawder, head of Detroit's Mosaic Youth Theatre, learned that her organization had been selected by the Lewis Prize for Music as a 2021 Accelerator Award winner - with $500,000 in multiyear funding attached. The grant, publicly announced Tuesday by the Lewis Prize, autel Maxisys ms909. is earmarked to fund expanded mentorship, access and transportation for Mosaic's students, who create music, dance and theater productions through a series of ensemble programs and residencies."It's so important for young people, especially in times like these, that they know people see them, hear them and support them - and that we can continue to expand our programs to offer more of those opportunities," Strawder said. "It literally makes my heart sing."Mosaic is one of four $500,000 Accelerator Award recipients, alongside Boston's Hyde Square Task Force, Philadelphia's Beyond the Bars and the St. Louis Story Stitchers. The Detroit organization We Are Culture Creators is receiving $25,000 as this year's Catalyst Awardee, following a $50,000 grant from the Lewis Prize in 2020.Infusion Awards of $50,000 each are going to the Academy of Music Production Education and Development (Louisville, Ky.), the Atlanta Music Project and Women's Audio Mission (San Francisco).More: Two Detroit youth programs vie for $500,000 grants from Lewis Prize for MusicThe annual Lewis Prize for Music was established three years ago by Miami philanthropist Daniel Lewis with a focus on low-income and marginalized communities. The program aims to boost "music education, strengthen the well-being of their communities and put music at the center of efforts to establish equity," the group said in a statement."I am inspired by these leaders and organizations for all they do to put music at the center of young people's personal development," Lewis said in a Tuesday statement.Updates on how the coronavirus is affecting your community and the nationStrawder said the $500,000 funding is a crucial shot in the arm for Mosaic, following a $1 million grant in 2019 from the Seller-Lehrer Family Foundation to support the group's summer camps."Both of those grants, along with the support from our local partners, help us really move the needle to make sure there's equitable access to transformative arts programs for Detroit area youth," Strawder said. "During the pandemic, to have a partner come alongside and invest in the young people and our mission in that way is invaluable."Like most performing-arts programs, Mosaic has largely operated virtually since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, although it has managed to stage a handful of drive-up experiences. The next scheduled event, "Variations on a Dream," is set to run Jan. 16-18 at Dearborn's Ford Drive In, with performances inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. and writer Langston Hughes.

Ford Fiesta ST Edition 2020 UK review
Are you considering buying an electric car? This is the latest limited-run special-edition version ofFord'sexcellentFiesta SThot hatch. It's called the Fiesta ST Edition and it's not to be confused with the, erm,Fiesta ST Performance Edition- which is itself a brightly coloured, limited-run version of the Blue Oval's fastest supermini. The easiest way to tell the difference between the Performance Edition andthis here Edition editionis the paint. Where the former is a searing shade of bright orange, this one comes indashing Azura Blue, which actually looks remarkably similar to the Nitrous Blue paint you could have onthe last Focus RS . In fact, with its gloss black bumpers, rear spoiler and lightweight 18in ‘flow-formed' alloy wheels, the Fiesta really does look like a pint-sized version of that fantastic old hyper-hatch.However, AD: Autel MK808 review. those unique styling tweaks are pretty much where the differences between the ST Edition and the ST Performance Edition end. Like that earlier car, this one is based on the range-topping ST-3 trim level, so it gets loads of goodies (including the ST Performance Pack with Quaife limited-slip differential) as standard. Crucially, it also gets the same manually adjustable coil-over suspension, which drops the ride height by 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear. Meanwhile, the engine is the same sweet 1.5-litre three-pot as before, developing 197bhp and 214lb ft - all of which is deployed to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. And the price? Well, that's £27,075, which is rather a lot when the base ST-3 - already a fantastic hot supermini in its own right - costs £24,575. In fact, it's more than Ford asked for the £26,495 Fiesta ST Performance Edition last year. However, whereas 600 examples of that car were built, there will be only 500 of this one - with just 300 coming to the UK. So in addition to that trick suspension, you're paying extra for a bit more exclusivity, I guess. As fantastic as ever. More so, even, thanks to that new suspension. There are 12 bump and 16 rebound settings, with the former being adjusted using a rotary knob at the bottom of each shock and the latter via knob at the top of each shock. You can reach the tops of the front struts by lifting the bonnet, but you'll have to lift the car up and take the wheels off to get at the rest. That seems a bit of a faff but at least it feels more in keeping with the general ethos of this car than it does on, say,a Polestar Engineered Volvowith its trick Ohlins dampers.Regardless, our test car's set-up seemed pretty spot on. It still felt firm and its body movements were kept pretty strictly in check. But this control was nonetheless underwritten by a level of pliancy that I'm not sure I've experienced in a Fiesta ST before. The regular car can be quite savage in its ride over bumpier bits of road. This one felt far less agitated at speed and considerably comfier as a result. Granted, it's still pretty unrelenting at lower speeds, but a bit of aggression comes with the territory in cars like this, so I'm not going to complain too much.Particularly when it drives the way it does. It remains as responsive, agile and incisive as ever, so on a tight, narrow B-road, it is just incredible amounts of fun. I'd go so far as to say that performance cars like this are, in fact, the easiest to get excited about driving quickly in this day and age. I drovea McLaren 620Rimmediately before getting in the Fiesta and I wasn't quite as eager to get going in that as I was in the dinky little Ford. Admittedly, a lot of that had to do with the fact that wet roads and the Macca's cold Trofeo R tyres have the potential to mix about as well as water on an oil fire, but there's the question of performance accessibility, too. You'd never get near the 620R's limits on the road, but the Fiesta's are within pretty easy reach. You can really interact with its engine and chassis in a way that you just can't in so many supercars and sports cars these days. That fact alone goes a considerable way to justifying its £27k price. And so, too, does the fact that you can now switch driving modes via a button on the steering whee...

Owen Sound reinstating transit fares, parking enforcement in June
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Owen Sound will soon begin charging people again to use its public transit system and resume parking enforcement in the downtown core.
Both measures were halted March 19 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with city officials saying at the time that the goal was to keep residents and employees safe while providing needed services.
But with the Ontario government slowly lifting restrictions across the province – such as by now allowing most stores to operate – and Owen Sound forecasting an $850,000 operating shortfall for 2020 because of the pandemic, council decided Monday to reinstate bus fares June 19 and a reduced level of parking enforcement June 1.
“We’re trying to manage our budget deficit as a result of COVID and trying to get back to normal as the province gets back to normal,” Mayor Ian Boddy said in an interview after the vote.
City officials decided March 18 – a day after Ontario Premier Doug Ford declared a provincial state of emergency due to COVID-19 – to temporarily waive transit fares, halt downtown parking enforcement and relax mandatory bag tag rules starting March 19.
The intent of the transit fare decision was to ensure workers didn’t have to handle cash until proper procedures could be implemented and to avoid passengers having to come in close contact with drivers while depositing cash in the fare boxes, public works and engineering director Dennis Kefalas told council.
The city was also looking to reduce the financial burden on residents whose incomes were impacted by COVID-19, he said.
Since the pandemic began, the city has implemented various measures to make the transit system safer. They include limiting the number of people that can ride the bus at the same time.
Kefalas told council that waiving the transit fares has reduced the anticipated revenue from the system by about $40,000, as of April 30.
“While the city will not be able to make this up, especially given the procedure of limiting the number of passengers on the bus at any given time, action still has to be taken to lessen the financial impact. Thus the need to reinstate transit fares,” he said.
Kefalas said the city has also noticed that some people are riding the bus just “for something to do” because it’s free and that is taking “valuable seats away from those who really need it.”
In addition, the federal government has rolled out temporary support programs to help people whose income has been affected by COVID-19, he said. And demand for public transit is expected to rise as more businesses and workplaces reopen.
Staff recommended council reinstate transit fares June 19 to give the city time to put the necessary procedures and barriers in place to allow staff to complete financial transactions, such as selling bus passes and tickets, safely, Kefalas said.
After approving the recommendations presented by Kefalas, council turned their attention to a report from city clerk Briana Bloomfield on parking enforcement.
She told council the Owen Sound Downtown Improvement Area board of management passed a motion May 13 requesting the city reinstate enforcement at reduced levels as soon as possible.
That vote happened a day before the province announced that retail businesses with street-front entrances could reopen May 19.
Boddy said the OSDIA wants to see the usual “turnover of vehicles” again on main street.
Bloomfield’s report included two options for council: reinstate parking enforcement at pre-COVID-19 levels beginning June 1 or start out with 25 hours of enforcement per week, with a focus on 2nd Avenue East, beginning June 1 and moving to full 40-hours-per-week enforcement Sept. 8.
Council chose the latter option.
Since Owen Sound has a business-sponsored, complimentary parking system, most of the enforcement relates to vehicles that have remained in a spot longer than the “free parking” time limits, which are two hours in on-street spaces and five hours in municipal lots.
Bloomfield said monthly parking passes for municipal lots will not be required until city hall is reopened to the public.
City officials say they anticipate a loss of about $10,000 in parking revenue as a result of having no enforcement from March 18 to June 1.
Earlier this month, council also voted to end the temporary relaxation of the city’s mandatory bag tag policy.
As of May 19, all trash bags have required a $2.50 city bag tag in order to be picked up by Owen Sound’s waste management contractor Miller Waste.

Fusion sai de linha e Ford mira em SUVs: veja como fica a linha
O Ford Fusion caiu do telhado…

I got a new Second-hand Adidas sweater. I encourage you to save the planet and acquire Second-hand clothes through family, or from a retailer.
Ashton Deroy Writes: I am training in the code of conduct for security guarding. I am doing deep reflection and consideration for the careful regulations that govern the trade. There is a specific duty to focus on as an openly autistic person training as a Security Guard. That is as a Peacekeeper. So I am working to become a Peacekeeper. That is the attitude I am presenting & moving ahead with.
Ashton Deroy YJC
Passions for me are Equality, Justice, Environmentalism, labor rights & Democracy.
I am swearing to a new & much higher moral standard as of now. If you don’t come from a highly regulated profession such as this. You underestimate the weight & moral integrity of Security Guards until you truly get training. What experience best prepares me for this? I worked as Secretary of Seneca pride,  in 2017-2018. I designed the website system, got pronoun & diversity training. I also studied Politics where I extensively studied our charter of Human rights & where I studied carefully the political history of World War 2. I also used a lot of customer service in my time within the telecommunications profession & tech support.
Past commentary on Social Culture in Quinte West, Kingston & Toronto –  I have that is in writing about labor grievances & participating in counter-culture groups. I have also done environmental photography to capture the state of Quinte West on a paid website & talked about accessibility issues. Recently as of 2020-03-30, I have started having an ongoing dialogue about cleaning up my image and becoming A LOT more responsible from my days just as an idealistic Business student at Loyalist College.
A life-changing experience I had relates to living on 544 Victoria st, Kingston Ontario this year. I witnessed my friend being harassed constantly in her living environment. It really tested what my responsibilities were as a male feminist and a peer of hers. Now I want to hold myself to a more conforming & collectivized ethical standard.
I am writing this openly to share that there has been deep reflection and thought about an Autistic person becoming a Security Guard. In Legal fundamentals in Business School, I learned contract law and the importance of consideration. I am prepared to move forward and work as a Security Guard with a disability, giving adequate consideration to my limitations as well as my abilities. The idea of making this information publicly available and enforcing the fact I will have a public discussion with you about my disability.

Customer service is the greatest skill I have. I am good with customers. I am a kind person, an ethical salesperson and a knowledgeable person who worked in Financial Market Research at And Agency in Toronto in 2018. I feel as though this defines me more than my disability. Even though I have to recognize limitations especially in the use of force. I just want to communicate I can be an asset to the profession.
7 real ways I have made a difference for the betterment of my community as a disabled person:
Volunteering for E-Waste drives at ENSS
Speaking up for the rights of refugees, disabled people, women & people of different racial backgrounds.
Becoming certified in CannSell – CannSell made me define cannabis use to a legal and ethical standard as set by law. Personally, I am licensed to help facilitate the sale of recreational cannabis to legal adults. As a personal morality. I make sure to lightly converse with friends on healthier ways to integrate cannabis into their lives. ( I have no medical background. I just am a Medical marijuana user.)
Volunteered for the governing party – I volunteered for Shelley Carrol (Ex Liberal MP)  in the provincial Election which saw Doug Ford (Conservative) win majority.
Was in newspapers about Windmill setup at ENSS, Belleville Pride & Kingston Pride. Where I was an active volunteer or participant.
I have run 7 times for Terry Fox. I am hoping to do more of them soon! 🙂
Blowing the whistle on Telecom practices – I had to speak up about unfair customer treatment in the telecom industry. It would have been wrong to turn a blind eye to the negligent treatment of customers with Fido, the accessibility barriers being implemented & the mishandling of customer accounts related to the under-regulation of call center agent training.
Ashton Deroy, Security guard in training Personal Profile. Ashton Deroy Writes: I am training in the code of conduct for security guarding. I am doing deep reflection and consideration for the careful regulations that govern the trade.

PHOT303 - Mileage May Vary - 14/3/2020
This day was meant to be a trip to the Exeter Phoenix with Louise, looking at some art work and some moving image, yet a spectre loomed over the day, and the future. I decided to bring along the Mamiya 7ii on my travels, and load it up with a fresh pro pack of Kodak Portra 160 (before the price went up!).
Just as I arrived at Exeter St Davids, I had a call from Louise explaining that she had to go home and self isolate. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) was beginning to become a concern to the nation. This had been bubbling for a while, and the news started to report cases of it in China in late 2019 and early 2020. It had made it’s way to the U.K, and confirmed cases were being reported. Currently (that being 27/3/2020) it has worsened and the whole country is in lockdown, which is in turn being enforced by the police services. Yet this whole situation deserves it own post explaining the changes due to this. Back to our normal broadcast.
Since the trip had been cancelled as soon as I arrived, I took t upon myself to meet up with my old friend, Thom, as he is an Exeter resident. He had never seen a 7ii in the wild, so he was in awe about the camera. I had a few hours to spare, and I thought that the singular roll of Portra would have lasted me all of that time. And yet, I shot it all within about 30 minutes of starting it.

Another Vauxhall Combo, parked on somebody’s driveway on Eldertree Gardens, which is next to St. Davids Hill. The hill coming up from St Davids station is long and steep, but it saves waiting around the station for 40 minutes for a 120 second train ride into Exeter Central. The hill is tiring, but it only takes a few minutes to walk and it is good exercise. I almost walked past this Combo, but I have always enjoyed the design of these houses, and they are oddly nostalgic looking to me. If that Vauxhall Combo was swapped with something a bit older, I would think that it would be hard to decipher when this photograph was taken. I decided to stop down the lens to around F8 this time around, to get more in focus and to increase the sharpness of the 80mm F4. And I do have to say, it just gets sharper the more it is stopped down. Even when these are scanned with my Canoscan 9000F Mkii (previously written about and despised), they’re amazingly crisp. I have also found a size of negative that the scanner seems to work well with. 35mm scans always looked really bad, but it seems that the bigger the negative, the better quality the scan. Everything I have shot with the 7ii has been scanned using the Canon at 2400dpi. This might be a high dpi to be using, but it also collects a lot of the detail that I would like to retain.

I met Thom in town, grabbed a strong black coffee and we walked around the roads around the quay. And to the surprise to me, there was a lot of scenes that worked so well for MMV, hence why the roll didn’t last all too long. Here, is a Fiat Panda and the legendary Fiat Coupe. Just like the Alfa Romeo GTV, Fiat’s do have some questionable quality control and electrical choices, yet they’re fantastic cars. The Coupe was a model Fiat made during the 1990′s, which is a rare sight in this day and age. They are somewhat of a modern classic with what seems to be a cult following, with the most popular model being a turbo five cylinder, propelling the Coupe to 62 mp/h in 6.3 seconds. And just like the Rolls-Royce in the previous shoot, the cars seem to juxtapose the setting, yet fit in quite nicely.

Just up the road from the Fiat’s was this rather odd Renault Megane sedan. These Megane’s are usually hatchbacks, so it is a rare sight to see them in their sedan layout. This is also the only shot to include cars older than the proposed 2009 Scrappage Scheme. The bright white Megane contrasts the overgrowth, as well as the grubby Fiat 500. i wanted the Megane to take centre stage in this photography as it’s an oddity which isn’t seen all too much, and with a quick database check, it’s possibly the cleanest 2003 Megane around, with only 83000 miles, and passing every MOT apart from a few with minor issues. It is nice to see this Renault, baring down on 20 years old standing the test of time.

The final two shots are of the same Ford KA parked outside Watergate, above the quay. The KA is also a design that has stood the test of time, with the KA’s design originating from the early 1990′s, and being introduced in 1996. It is hard to believe that this design is of a similar age to me, as it looks, even today, to be modern and contemporary. As I took the first photograph (top), Thom was towards the back looking towards the block of flats, with him saying: “oh dude this is the one”. With one shot left, I had a look and he was right! It is possibly my favourite image to date and perfectly sums up what I want to be doing with this project. It manages to document the ageing, banal and boring cars that litter our urban landscape, as well as the urban landscape itself. I also like the addition of Kodak Portra 160. Despite it being less versatile than it’s 400 counterpart, it is a lot cheaper and finer grained. I do like the film’s overall aesthetic and quality, and it seems to match well with the Mamiya’s lenses.
The advent of Coronavirus has put a spanner in the works in terms of image creation for MMV. This was the last roll that was shot before social distancing, self isolation and quarantine was a regular occurrence and a requirement. This could mean the shooting the Mamiya 7ii could be placed on the back burner, and shooting digitally could be the only way that this project can progress. This does seem to change how I shoot, and I fear I won’t be able to create the work that I want to be able to create. I will however be shooting the 7ii at the same time as the 5D, and getting it developed when I am able to get back to Plymouth. I am of course able to send film off to be developed and scanned via postal order, but I cannot afford this with the amount that I am shooting, seeing as it is around £15-£20 per roll in total. So I shall develop the rolls at my local lab, and scan them at home when I am able to get back home.
