ITALY’S COMMUNIST RECIPE FOR DISASTER

As I sit here in my involuntary isolation, it was just reported that overnight 743 more people died and 5.249 new cases have been reported. This brings the total cases of infection to 69,176 and the body count to 6,820. We take relief in knowing that 8,326 people have recovered so far. ( Numbers as of 3/24, 8:30pm in Italy.)
Most towns here in Italy, from the upper reaches of the Alps to the ancient shores of Sicilia and Sardenia, while not deserted, are closer to being ghost towns than the bustling centers of tourism, business and daily life they were just a few weeks ago.Stores and shops have been shuttered. Restaurants and coffee shops no longer serve customers. Schools, universities, sporting arenas…even our museums and theaters…all closed. Even the Vatican City has closed its gates and armed patrols monitor the 20 foot tall walls that protect it!
Streets and roads are now empty for as far as the eye can see. Normally they would be filled with crazed Italian drivers in tiny cars and scooters (the ones that sound like demonic insects) darting here and there, reaching the limits of centrifugal force on our roundabouts. In the piazze of our towns and cities, there are now officially more pigeons than people.Many of us know someone who has been infected and recovered. Some of us know someone who did not recover…now they are dead. But everyone knows someone who has been affected by this microscopic monster in one way or another.
Sixty million of us are in lock-down…it is like a war zone here. We are being held prisoner in our own homes by an unseen enemy that sneaked in unnoticed…by most of us. As you will read in just a few more minutes, there were those who knew something like this was coming…or at least they should have.So who is to blame? With all this craziness swirling like a whirlpool at our feet, I just had to find the blame answer. And so I have spent my free time (of which I have a lot in these days) digging and researching. I was literally shocked to discover how this has come to be.I am not going to bore you with talk of Patient ‘0’ who spread it to Patient ‘1’ and how mathematics efficiently explains the rapid expansion of infection. No…I am going to tell you how (as I see it) the virus came to Italy.It has everything to do with communists. Allow me to explain.Beginning in about 2014, Matteo Renzi, the imbecile ex-mayor of Firenze (Florence) acting as the leader of the Partito Democratico (synonymous with the Italian Communist party), somehow managed to get himself elected as Italy’s Prime Minister. To give you a proper frame of reference, Matteo Renzi was so far left, he would make Barack Obama look like Barry Goldwater!
At the same time that Renzi was leading Italy into oblivion, strange things were happening in Italy’s economy. Banks were failing…but not closing. Retirement ages were being extended…for some reason the pension funds were dwindling or disappearing. The national sales tax we call IVA (Value Added Tax) rose from 18% to 20%, then to 21% and again to 22%.And in the midst of all this financial chicanery, the Chinese began furiously buying up Italian real estate and businesses in the North.Now the reason I mention Renzi and the Chinese together is that strange things were also going on between the governments of Italy and China. A blind eye was being turned to the way the Chinese were buying businesses in the financial, telecommunication, industrial and fashion sectors of Italy’s economy, all of which take place in Milano.
To be brief…China was getting away with purchases and acquisitions in violation of Italian law and EU Trade Agreements with the US and the UK…and no one in either of those countries (not Obama in the US or Cameron in the UK) said a thing in their country’s defense. As a matter of fact, much of it was hidden from the public in all three countries.In 2014, China infused the Italian economy with €5 billion through purchases of companies costing less than €100 million each.
By the time Renzi left office (in disgrace) in 2016, Chinese acquisitions had exceeded €52 billion. When the dust settled, China owned more than 300 companies…representing 27% of the major Italian corporations.The Bank of China now owns five major banks in Italy…all of which had been secretly (and illegally) propped up by Renzi using pilfered pension funds! Soon after, the China Milano Equity Exchange was opened and much of Italy’s wealth was being funneled back to the Chinese mainland.
Chinese state entities own Italy’s major telecommunication corporation (Telecom) as well as its major utilities (ENI and ENEL). Upon entry into the telecommunication market, Huawei established a facility in Segrate, a suburb of Milano. It launched is first research center there and worked on the study of microwaves which has resulted in the possibly-dangerous technology we call 5G.China also now owns controlling interest in Fiat-Chrysler, Prysmian and Terna. You will be surprised to know that when you put a set of Pirelli tires on your car, the profits are going to China.
Yep…the Chinese colossus of ChemChina, a chemical industry titan, bought that company too!Last but not least is Ferretti yachts…the most prestigious yacht builder in Europe. Incredibly, it is no longer owned by the Ferretti family.
But the sector in which Chinese companies invested most was Italy’s profitable fashion industry. The Pinco Pallino, Miss Sixty, Sergio Tacchini, Roberta di Camerino and Mariella Burani brands have been acquired by 100%.Designer Salvatore Ferragamo sold 16% and Caruso sold 35%. The most famous case is Krizia, purchased in 2014 by Shenzhen Marisfrolg Fashion Company, one of the leaders of high-priced, ready-to-wear fashions in Asia.
Throughout all of these purchases and acquisitions, Renzi’s government afforded the Chinese unrestricted and unfettered access to Italy and its financial markets, many coming through without customs inspections.
Quite literally, tens of thousands of Chinese came in through Milano (illegally) and went back out carrying money, technology and corporate secrets.
Thousands more were allowed to enter and disappeared into shadows of Milano and other manufacturing cities of Lombardy, only to surface in illegal sewing shops, producing knock-off designer clothes and slapping ‘Made In Italy’ labels on them. All with the tacit approval of the Renzi government.It was not until there was a change in the governing party in Italy that the sweatshops and the illegal entry and departure of Chinese nationals was stopped. Matteo Salvini, representing the Lega Nord party, closed Italy’s ports to immigrants and systematically began disassembling the sweatshops and deporting those in Italy illegally.
But his rise to power was short-lived. Italy is a communist country…socialism is in the national DNA. Ways were found to remove Salvini, after which the communist party, under the direction of Giuseppe Conte, reopened the ports. Immediately, thousands of unvetted, undocumented refugees from the Middle East and East Africa began pouring in again.
Access was again provided to the Chinese, under the old terms, and as a consequence thousands of Chinese, the majority from Wuhan, began arriving in Milano.
In December of last year, the first inklings of a coronavirus were noticed in Lombardy…in the Chinese neighborhoods. There is no doubt amongst senior medical officials that the virus was brought here from China.
By the end of January 2020 cases were being reported left and right. By mid-February the virus was beginning to seriously overload the Lombardy hospitals and medical clinics. They are now in a state of collapse.
The Far-Left politicians sold out and betrayed the Italian people with open border policies and social justice programs. One of the reasons the health care system collapsed so quickly is because the Renzi government (and now continued under the Conte government) redirected funds meant to sustain the medical system, to pay for the tens of thousands of immigrants brought in to Italy against the will of the Italian people.
If you remember the horrible earthquake that decimated the villages around Amatricia, in the mountains east of Rome in 2015, you would also remember how the world responded by sending millions of dollars to help those affected.
But there is a law in Italy that prevents private donations to charitable Italian organizations. All money and donations received must be turned over to a government agency, who in turn is to appropriate the funds as needed. But that agency is corrupt just as are all the others.Most of the money never reached a single victim in the mountains. The Renzi government redirected the vast majority of those funds to pay for the growing immigrant and refugee costs.
As the economy worsened under the burden of illegal immigration, compounded by gross government spending and incompetence, unemployment rose quickly…especially among young people. The unemployment rate for men and women under age 35 is close to 40%.
So more money was diverted from the health care system and used to pay what is known here as guaranteed income. Whether you work or not you are paid here, especially if you belong to the PD! The government simply raises taxes on those who do work
.Let me give you a quick example of the height of insanity to which Italian taxation has risen.
If you live in a building that has a balcony or balconies…and any of those balconies cast a shadow on the ground, you must pay a public shadow tax! I will say no more!
The point I am trying to make here is that not only did the Chinese bring the virus to Italy (and the rest of the world) it was far-Left politics and policies that facilitated it.
This should hopefully be a warning to Americans that while they work to rid themselves of the China Virus, they should just as vehemently endeavor to rid their government of any politician that circumvents the Constitution and ignores the laws of the land…plain and simple.

While Americans weren’t those to make the car, they quickly became a force to be reckoned with within the industry. By 1913 about 80 percent of cars made worldwide were made within us. Over the last 100 years, American automakers have had many innovative vehicles, so let’s check out the simplest 10 of those groundbreaking cars.

Duesenberg Motor Company was an American manufacturer of luxury and race cars, founded by the Duesenberg Brothers in 1913 in Minnesota. First gaining popularity by military use, the Jeep MB was later produced for the civilian market.
Oldsmobile 88:
The Oldsmobile 88 was first produced in 1949 and continued to be made until 1999. For the time, this was the primary car to put a strong V8 engine during a lighter weight body, allowing a better top speed of just about 100 mph. Although not alright remembered, this was America’s first real muscle car.
Chevrolet Corvette:
The first Chevrolet Corvette was an idea car produced in 1953. There was enough interest within the concept car that it began regular production later that very same year. there have been 300 hands build Corvettes by the top of 1953. Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Ford F-150 en voyage et ma «folie» Lotus!
Le 7 juillet 2021
Les choses ne se produisent pas toujours comme on le veut. Je devais terminer ma participation à l’ÉcoMois de l’AJAC en roulant avec une Jeep Wrangler Hybrid mais Stellantis Canada en a décidé autrement. À la place, j’ai eu droit à la fourgonnette de luxe Pacifica mais en version hybride électrique, un autre véhicule qui était inscrit au programme de l’ÉcoMois. Par conséquent, je devrai remettre mes impressions de conduite de la Wrangler 4xe à plus tard. En attendant, voici quelques mots sur la Pacifica hybride qui, avouons-le, devrait être un choix logique pour des déplacements locaux en famille.

Je vous ferai grâce des détails esthétiques de la Pacifica vu que j’ai décrit ce véhicule en détail il y a quelques mois dans ce blogue. Toutefois, c’était alors la version «régulière» mais à traction intégrale. Dans le cas qui nous intéresse ici, la version hybride électrique enfichable («Plug-In» si vous voulez utiliser les termes américains) n’est livrable qu’avec la traction avant. Les éléments «techniques» impliquent le V6 à essence de 3,6 litres et deux moteurs électriques, le tout développant quelque 260 chevaux (curieusement, un peu moins que la version à essence régulière) ce qui permet des temps d’accélérations de quelque 8 secondes pour passer du point mort à 100 km/h. Pas si mal pour un véhicule de ce gabarit!

Au départ, la Pacifica Hybrid ne se déplace qu’avec le moteur électrique. L’autonomie de la batterie est d’alors environ 50 kilomètres. Passé cette limite, le V6 entre en action mais il continue d’être appuyé par le moteur électrique selon la sollicitation du conducteur. Selon mes impressions de conduite, cette Pacifica équivaut bien plusieurs véhicules de cette motorisation et plus même, ne serait-ce que par sa capacité d’y accepter jusqu’à huit passagers en tout confort. Malheureusement, dans sa configuration hybride, la Pacifica perd sa caractéristique de sièges du centre qui se rabattent dans le plancher (c’est là qu’il y a les batteries!).

Mon essai fut plutôt court, juste le temps de prendre connaissance avec le véhicule. Selon plusieurs sources, la consommation d’essence de cette Chrysler tournerait autour des 8,0 l./100 km. Éventuellement, j’espère remettre la main sur ce véhicule pour un vrai «road trip», la seule véritable façon d’apprécier tout véhicule, surtout une fourgonnette de ce calibre (qui, en passant, a été votée Meilleure voiture électrique de l’année par l’AJAC en 2020 !). Il est difficile d’en établir le prix exact. Il existe deux versions, la Limited et la Pinnacle et il est possible (toujours possible, je l’espère) d’obtenir plusieurs rabais dus au fait qu’elle est hybride électrique ce qui pourrait ramener son prix autour des 45 000 $. J’y reviendrai certainement.
Plus de 1000 km en F-150
Lorsque Ford a «relancé» son F-150 il y a quelques mois, j’ai eu l’opportunité de vous en faire connaître deux versions, l’originale avec moteur EcoBoost de 3,5 litres et la version «hybride» avec le même moteur mais aidé d’un moteur électrique. Évidemment, pour les besoins de la cause, la version hybride était plus intéressante, surtout pour des déplacements urbains et l’économie de carburant qui en découle. Je n’ai donc couvert que quelques centaines de kilomètres avec chacun des modèles durant la même semaine ce qui n’est pas toujours représentatif des attentes d’un automobiliste voulant en savoir plus sur ce nouveau véhicule.

Le hasard a voulu que je puisse remettre la main sur la version Platinum à moteur EcoBoost régulier pour quelques jours la semaine dernière. Et je l’ai utilisé pour apporter certains outils imposants à mon fils qui vit en Abitibi. Voilà donc la bonne occasion de faire un vrai «road trip» avec le tout récent F-150 et profiter de son utilité.

Parce que j’entends très souvent des critiques sur un tel véhicule. Fréquemment, on le mentionne comme étant un «ennemi» de l’environnement (les «gros F-150 énergivores») sans vraiment tenir compte du fait que plusieurs gens les utilisent pour leur travail ou pour déplacer leurs outils ou leurs véhicules de loisir. Généralement, ces commentaires (qui valent aussi pour les Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Ram, Toyota Tundra, Nissan Titan et leurs variants sport utilitaires) les placent trop souvent dans un contexte urbain. Oui, ils sont plus gros qu’une Corolla. Mais leur utilité en est toute différente.

Le plus ironique, c’est que lorsqu’on sort d’un milieu urbain, on voit bien souvent plus de pick-up que de voitures! En route de Laval vers l’Abitibi, je jouais un jeu avec ma femme lui demandant de deviner quelle marque de véhicule pouvait s’apprêter à nous doubler. Vous vous en doutez, il y a avait alors plusieurs F-150 (à un moment donné, il n’y en avait pas un, ni deux, ni trois mais bien quatre F-150 qui me doublaient l’un derrière l’autre, tous avec une sorte de charge quelconque). En général, les F-150 (et compagnie) servent à quelque tâche!
Le F-150 Platinum que j’ai utilisé s’est avéré un véritable véhicule de grand luxe tant sur l’autoroute que sur route secondaire (et même en ville de campagne!). La charge dans la caisse (qui était très bien arrimée grâce au système d’attaches du constructeur aidant), nous nous sommes retrouvés dans un véhicule extrêmement doux et silencieux. De plus, son V6 était suffisamment puissant pour lui procurer des accélérations impressionnantes et des reprises étonnantes. Mais voici la plus grande surprise. J’ai obtenu une moyenne de 10,3 l./100 km durant ce voyage à une vitesse moyenne d’environ 105 km/h! Si ça ne vous dit rien, sachez que c’est la consommation qui se rapproche le plus de celle d’une berline moyenne comme une Chrysler 300, une Ford Taurus ou même une Toyota Camry avec un moteur V6! Et cela, avec du carburant régulier en plus! Ajoutez à cela la capacité de tirer une remorque allant jusqu’à plus de 12 000 livres! Voilà de quoi répondre à ses détracteurs qui disent ne jamais en vouloir «parce que ça consomme trop!».

Incidemment, ce F-150 est aussi un véhicule à quatre roues motrices (sur commande ou automatique) qui peut se déplacer dans des sentiers modérés (et qui s’avérera presque invulnérable dans la neige en hiver). De plus, comme c’en est le cas pour tous les F-150 4 x 4 vendus au Canada avec les ensembles de remorquage, celui-ci avait cette commande qui permettait à son opérateur de reculer avec une remorque et de placer celle-ci à l’aide de ce bouton rotatif sans même toucher au volant! Et, si vous revenez à mon article initial de mars dernier, vous y verrez des prises de courant dans le flanc gauche de la caisse!
Évidemment, un tel véhicule vient à un prix, dans ce cas, plus de 80 000 $. Mais, c’est le prix à payer pour autant de possibilités. Et, à voir le nombre de F-150 sur la route (et lorsqu’on en analyse les chiffres de ventes étonnants), on ne peut en dénier la popularité. Oh! Juste avant de terminer, méfiez-vous, il y a de la police sur la route 117 qui mène en Abitibi. Et les policiers y roulent en…F-150!
Ma petite folie Lotus
Enfin, plusieurs de mes amis ont vu cette photo d’une «épave» de Lotus Europe sur une remorque derrière le Nissan Armada dont il était question dans ce blogue la semaine dernière. Oui, c’est mon prochain projet.

Ceux qui me connaissent savent que j’aime reconstruire des maquettes, des miniatures d’automobiles abandonnées ou fortement «abusées» et leur donner une «seconde vie». J’en ai fait à toutes les échelles, 1/32e, 1/25e, 1/16e et même 1/8e. Cette fois, ce sera au 1/1!
Cette Europa est abandonné depuis plusieurs années. Ayant été partiellement endommagée par un feu à l’arrière, certains bricoleurs ont tenté de la modifier…je ne sais trop comment. Il y a moins d’une dizaine d’années, le châssis avait été restauré. Il a même reçu un moteur Renault plus puissant. Mais le travail fut abandonné et le châssis s’est retrouvé à l’extérieur, exposé aux intempéries.
Je l’ai donc retrouvé en pièces détachées et lorsque j’ai montré les photos de l’auto à mon ami Michel Pigeon, celui-là même qui a construit ma Cobra (et quelque 30 autres!), il m’a répondu que c’était du travail mais que ce n’était pas impossible. Surtout pour lui qui sait comment travailler le métal et la fibre de verre.
L’auto est donc maintenant en sécurité où je devrai commencer bientôt un travail de démontage. S’il y aura des pièces à remplacer, j’ai déjà le livre de «construction» de l’Europa avec tous les détails concernant le châssis, la mécanique (en majeure partie empruntée d’autres voitures) incluant les mesures complètes.
Ce sera certes un travail de patience de trois ou quatre ans. Mais j’ai bien l’intention de l’amener à bon port. Et si ce blogue survit au temps, j’aurai certainement la fierté de vous montrer ce que je sais faire avec ce que les modélistes appellent «a glue bomb» ou ce que j’appelle une épave. Un petit brin de folie, quoi!
La Lotus Emira !
Enfin, pour terminer ce blogue, je viens de voir les premières images de la toute nouvelle Lotus Emira, une toute petite GT qui remplacera sous peu les Elise et Exige. Les présentations sont plutôt discrètes mais on y apprend que l’Emira est conçue comme les autres Lotus avec un châssis léger et une carrosserie toute en fibre de verre. Elle sera disponible avec un moteur à quatre cylindres AMG (Mercedes…) de 2,0 litres qui fait 360 chevaux ou un V6 Toyota de 400 chevaux. L’Emira sera la toute dernière voiture de Lotus avec un moteur à essence. Les modèles à venir seront tous électriques…

VARIATIONS OF THE CAR ENGINE
There are many variations of the car engine and they all come in various shapes and forms and they all have unique differences. You can differentiate cars based on layout and engine cylinder configurations. Based on layout, we have;
STRAIGHT ENGINE
The straight or inline engine is an internal combustion engine with all cylinders aligned in one row. They are usually found in four- and six-cylinder configurations and are considerably easier to build. Straight configurations are simpler than their V-shaped counterparts. They are used in some models from BMW, Ford, Jeep, Chevrolet, GMC, Toyota, Suzuki and Volvo Cars.
INLINE ENGINES
Cylinders are arranged in a straight row, like a straight engine layout. However, it doesn't go from front to back like a straight engine but the cylinders as being placed 'side by side'. In-line engines are also smaller, thus, It frees up more space around the engine for components like the car battery and cooling system. Cars, light commercial vehicles, medium & heavy commercial vehicles and earth moving equipment widely use this design.
FLAT ENGINES
It is also referred to as boxers engine. This layout keeps the engine as flat as possible. Thee cylinders are located on either side of a central crankshaft, laid down flat in both directions. This layout keeps the car's centre of gravity low, which then makes it much easier to handle. Cars with this type of engine are 2016 Subaru Outback, Subaru Legacy, 2016 Subaru WRX.
V ENGINES
Sometimes called a vee engine. It's cylinders arranged at an angle in a V-shape. Having more power in a smaller area makes the V engine layout ideal for luxury high-performance vehicles. The V type has two rows of cylinders, usually forming an angle of 60° or 90° between the two banks. The more compact V-engine is fitted in some cars, especially vehicles with eight or 12 cylinders, and also some with six cylinders. Cars with this type of engine is, Toyota Camry 3.0L, Mercedes Benz E 400 Cabriolet. Based on engine configuration, they are;
TWIN CYLINDERS
They are also known as an inline-twin, vertical-twin, or parallel-twin. In this configuration, two cylinders are arranged in a line along a common crankshaft. 2005 Mazda RX-8 Special Edition, 2012 Fiat 500 Twin Air, Tata Nano, 1974 Mazda RX-3 Super Deluxe.
THREE CYLINDER ENGINE
A straight-three engine (also called an inline- triple or inline-three) is a three-cylinder piston engine where cylinders are arranged in a line along a common crankshaft. A 3 cylinder engine is much more fuel efficient compared to a 4 cylinder engine of the same size. The straight-three is light on fuel and big on power Cars with the 3 cylinder engine are; Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta, BMW i8, Mitsubishi Mirage, Smart Fortwo, Daihatsu Charade.
FOUR CYLINDER ENGINES
A straight-four engine is a four-cylinder piston engine where cylinders are arranged in a line along a common crankshaft. One advantage of a four-cylinder engine is that it offers a balance between fuel efficiency and power. They work continuously and are extremely refined.. Cars with a 4-Cylinder Engine are, 2014 Toyota Prius, 2016 Honda Accord, 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, and lots more.
FIVE CYLINDER ENGINE
The straight-five engine or inline-five engine is an internal combustion engine with five cylinders aligned in one row or plane, sharing a single engine block and crankcase. A Five-Cylinder Engine as an Economical, Smooth-Running Power Plant. Five-cylinder engines are hard to find in new models these days, except perhaps in a few Audi RS models. Cars that use five cylinder engines are Land Rover Defender, Ford Focus RS, Audi Sport Quattro, Volvo 850R.
SIX CYLINDER ENGINES
The straight-six engine (also referred to as an inline-six engine; abbreviated I6 or L6) It is an internal combustion engine, with six cylinders mounted in a straight line along the crankcase with all the pistons driving a common crankshaft (straight engine). Cars with six cylinder engines are 2019 Chrysler 300, 2020 Toyota Avalon, 2019 Genesis G80.
EIGHT CYLINDER ENGINE
An eight-cylinder engine, the V8, is common in pickup trucks, SUVs and sportscars. These engines create a lot of horsepower and torque and are better suited to tow or haul. It usually has between four and six litres of displacement, depending on the size of the eight cylinders within. Foremost, the V-8 operates like any other gasoline-powered four-stroke engine. The higher we go on the number of cylinders, the more high-performance/luxury the cars tend to be. When you cross into 8+ cylinder territory, you'll only find these in racecars, supercars and only the most luxurious of sedans. GM, Ford and other carmakers can't get enough chips. It's a huge problem Chief Financial Officer John Lawler said that if the problem drags on through the spring, the company’s earnings could take a $1 billion to $2.5 billion hit. It’s not just an issue for Ford. GM (GM) is shutting some plants in the United States, Canada and Mexico next week due to the insufficient supplies, while Volkswagen, Fiat Chrysler (FCAU), Toyota (TM), Nissan (NSANF) and Honda (HMC) have also been affected. “Despite our mitigation efforts, the semiconductor shortage will impact GM production in 2021,” GM said in a statement this week. “We are currently assessing the overall impact, but our focus is to keep producing our most in-demand products — including full-size trucks and SUVs and Corvettes — for our customers.” The backstory: Leading semiconductor manufacturers reassigned capacity from automakers last year after the pandemic hurt car sales, instead shipping chips to companies that produce smartphones, gaming systems and other tech gadgets that were in high demand. Now, supplies remain tight, and carmakers are struggling to secure the chips they need. The tiny parts are essential to production. The average car has between 50 to 150 chips, which are used in a growing number of applications, including driver assistance systems and navigation control. Bottlenecks may persist for months, weighing on the auto sector as it tries to recover from the pandemic. It could even force some companies to raise prices. “The current chip shortage poses a big threat of further slowdowns in production for the entire industry,” Jessica Caldwell, executive director of insights at Edmunds, told clients this week. Investor insight: Wall Street is mostly looking past the turmoil, sending auto stocks higher as companies make increasingly bold commitments about future production of electric and autonomous vehicles. Ford said Thursday it will invest invest $29 billion in electric and self-driving cars, though it needs to play a bit of catch-up, my CNN Business colleague Chris Isidore reports. Kuaishou stock soars in biggest IPO since 2019 Kuaishou’s stock skyrocketed Friday as the TikTok-like video app scored the world’s biggest IPO since the coronavirus pandemic began. Comme je l’ai annoncé la semaine dernière, ça repart! J’ai recommencé à conduire des «véhicules de presse» pour en faire l’évaluation, ce que je fais depuis plus de 35 ans! Mais ce que c’est incroyable ce que cette profession a changé. Et le «confinement» est venu lui donner un solide coup qui pourrait avoir des conséquences au cours des prochains mois.
En effet, malgré ce temps d’arrêt inattendu en plein durant une progression incroyable du marché automobile, le mouvement que je craignais a repris de plus belle. Si vous étiez un mordu de l’automobile avant le «confinement», vous deviez voir venir un incroyable raz-de-marée de camionnettes et de VUS qui allait submerger celui des automobiles. Eh bien, il est passé, ce «tsunami». Maintenant que les concessionnaires peuvent accueillir leurs clients presque sans restrictions, force nous est de constater que le segment des camionnettes de tous genres et de tous gabarits est à déplacer celui des automobiles!
Notez que je fais partie des responsables de cette nouvelle tendance. Depuis des années que je fais la promotion des véhicules «utilitaires» malgré le fait que je sois un amateur de sports motorisés et de voitures sportives. Avec le temps, l’auto est devenue une sorte de démonstration de son statut social. Ironiquement, alors que dans le passé, démontrer son «statut social» se faisait au volant d’une berline Lincoln, Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz ou même Bentley ou Rolls-Royce, de nos jours c’est aux commandes d’un VUS ou d’un VUM des mêmes marques que cela se fait. Mais pour les amateurs de sportives?
Ouaip! C’est exactement le même phénomène! Il fut un temps où les autos sportives n’étaient que des coupés ou des roadsters à deux places avec des moteurs puissants. Ce n’en est plus nécessairement le cas aujourd’hui. La preuve? Il est désormais possible de se procurer un pick-up de performance, même en version hors-route comme le Ford F-150 Raptor ou encore un VUS à traction intégrale avec un moteur de plus de 400 chevaux comme un Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT ou…un Dodge Durango SRT !

Un Durango SRT? Oui, c’est exactement ce que je conduisais cette semaine. Ce n’est pas la première fois que je mets la main sur un Durango de performance. En fait, je ne vois pas pourquoi, comme tellement de jeunes «spécialistes» le font, je critiquerais un Durango de performance? Après tout, nos amis allemands n’ont-ils pas «imité» les constructeurs américains en créant non seulement d’imposants VUS mais aussi des utilitaires à moteur V8 performant (ce qui ne se serait pas vu il y a environ vingt-cinq ans)?

J’ai donc conduit un Durango SRT au cours des derniers jours. Et je ne vois pas pourquoi je dénigrerais ce VUS de performance face à sa concurrence européenne. Surtout que le prix, malgré qu’il soit élevé, y est très concurrentiel! Pour avoir un véhicule «concurrentiel», il faut opter pour un BMW X5 M de quelques 600 chevaux qui demande un V8 de 4,4 litres avec DEUX turbos pour en arriver à une puissance «compétitive».
Parce que le Dodge Durango SRT ne propose «qu’un» «vulgaire» V8 de 6,4 litres à culbuteurs qui «ne» fait que 475 chevaux et 470 li-pi de couple SANS turbocompresseur! Ce moteur (que les amateurs de la marque reconnaîtront comme étant un légendaire HEMI !) vient avec la boîte automatique à huit rapports et la traction intégrale. Il n’est pas question, ici, de dénigrer le véhicule allemand mais plutôt de «justifier» les caractéristiques d’un véhicule américain équivalent qui vaut la peine d’être considéré. Il est grandement temps d’arrêter de considérer les VUS de performance américains comme étant destinés aux acheteurs avec des gros bras avec des tatouages tandis que l’on voudrait croire que les véhicules européens équivalents le soient qu’aux gens «distingués» (pseudo) connaisseurs de belle mécanique.
Ce n’est pas la première fois que je traite du Durango SRT. Au départ, le Durango est un véritable succès sur le marché. C’est un VUM capable d’accueillir jusqu’à huit personnes à son bord. Curieusement, alors que FCA ne peut nous proposer un Jeep Grand Cherokee à six ou sept passagers, ce VUS partage sa plateforme avec celle du Durango, celle-ci étant issue d’une configuration partagée avec celle des grands VUS Mercedes à l’époque où Chrysler en était le partenaire! Et cette plateforme permet la configuration de six à huit passagers!
Revenons-en donc à mon Durango d’essai. Celui-ci affichait une ligne qui n’a pas changé depuis bientôt une dizaine d’années. Toutefois, elle demeure d’actualité comme le prouvent les ventes qui placent le Durango parmi les «bons vendeurs» de FCA après les pick-up Ram et les Jeep. La version SRT se reconnaît à ses deux lignes de couleur contrastante (optionnelles) sur la carrosserie et surtout à son capot unique avec des prises d’air très visibles.

L’intérieur de ce Durango est en tous points semblables à celui d’un Durango régulier sauf pour l’instrumentation élaborée qui est gérée par les choix au tableau de bord. En effet, avec ces commandes, il est possible d’obtenir une instrumentation spécifique incluant un compteur de vitesse qui va jusqu’à 300 km/h !
Ce qui est intéressant, c’est que les configurations techniques de ce Dodge peuvent être modifiées par des commandes électroniques disponibles sur l’écran central qui peuvent modifier le comportement du grand VUM Dodge le modifiant de véhicule de tourisme à un véritable «char de course». Il y a même le système «Launch» qui permet des accélérations époustouflantes sans patinage des roues. Mais il faut placer cette commande en conséquence pour ce faire! Ah oui! Cet écran central est aussi celui du système Uconnect de FCA qui est reconnu pour être un des plus efficaces et des plus conviviaux de l’industrie!

Autrement, ce modèle de Durango est reconduit avec un intérieur confortable et surtout bien aménagé. Les deux sièges d’avant sont des baquets confortables séparés par une console centrale avec bras de vitesse conventionnel (au lieu du bouton rotatif pourtant courant chez les camionnettes de FCA). Les places arrière (des baquets dans le cas de mon véhicule d’essai) sont aussi accueillantes (je m’en suis servi avec ma femme lors d’un petit lunch à une «pizzeria» dans le nord laurentien) avec des places généreuses et la possibilité, dans le cas de l’option disponible dans mon Durango d’essai, d’y avoir des écrans de télé dans le dossier des sièges d’avant. Enfin, la troisième banquette tout à l’arrière peut asseoir deux passagers, de préférence des enfants dans un certain confort. Évidemment, avec tous les sièges en place, on y perd un peu au point de vue chargement arrière. Mais, comme vous pouvez vous en douter, une fois les dossiers repliés, on obtient un bon espace pour le cargo!

Sous le capot
Le moteur V8 à essence qui animait ce Durango SRT était un V8 HEMI de 6,4 litres qui n’a plus besoin de présentation. Ce très fiable moulin typiquement américain (donc, auquel on peut se fier!) développait 475 chevaux et 470 li-pi de couple et tout cela, je le répète, SANS turbo ou compresseur mécanique. Il était combiné à cette boîte automatique à huit rapports (développée par FCA avec le manufacturier allemand ZF ce qui me fait sourire un peu car, après tout, les constructeurs américains, inventeurs de la transmission automatique, ne ont-ils pas donné des boîtes auto fiables depuis des dizaines d’années?) et à la traction intégrale, comme sur une Jeep! Ce Durango était aussi équipé de freins Brembo très puissants et de pneus Pirelli de performance.

Sur la route
Évidemment, comme vous vous en doutez, conduire le Dodge Durango est un véritable petit plaisir, même si c’est un véhicule imposant! Je me doute que bien des amateurs de petites européennes sportives viendront m’obstiner mais, dans le cas du Durango, pour faire un long voyage, il est difficile de trouver mieux. Cette camionnette Dodge a tout ce que l’on recherche, look, espace, puissance et performance. Bien entendu, il est plutôt difficile de battre des records d’économie de carburant lorsqu’il est question d’un VUS de quelque 5500 livres avec un V8 de 475 chevaux. Mais avec une moyenne de 14,8 l/100 km à la pompe (alors que le constructeur en annonce une moyenne de 15,6) n’est pas si mal surtout si l’on sait que l’on peut disposer d’une capacité de remorquage de plus de 7000 livres! Et que dire d’un temps de moins de six secondes pour passer du point mort à 100 km/h en accélération! Évidemment, voilà un véhicule très agile en situations hivernales si on l’équipe des pneus d’hiver appropriés!

J’entends déjà les puristes de l’automobile qui m’obstineront qu’un tel Durango n’aura jamais la tenue de route d’une petite sportive. Je suis d’accord avec eux…mais où trouve-t-on vraiment des routes locales pour mettre un tel véhicule à l’épreuve? En fait, c’est possible…dans la région de Saint-Sauveur en montant vers le nord. Mais alors, vous serez seuls à tenter une telle expérience. Toutefois, c’est possible et vous seriez surpris de constater comment la direction plus ou moins lente mais le freinage très efficace d’un Durango SRT vous surprendront! De plus, si vous utilisez le levier de vitesses pour le frein-moteur (ou les palettes au volant après les avoir activées), vous pourrez conduire ce véhicule comme un vrai «sports car»…un sports car un peu lourd mais…
Les sièges de cet imposant VUS sont plus confortables que l’on puisse l’imaginer et ils offrent un support plus efficace que prévu. Et la visibilité y est très bonne J’aurais bien aimé essayer ce Durango sur piste (il y a des fonctions appropriées à ce genre d’exercice sur les commandes du Durango…il n’y a qu’à les activer à partir de l’écran au tableau de bord…incluant la fonction «Launch» qui vous permettra de faire des courses d’accélérations...). Mais est-ce vraiment sa place? Jusqu’à un certain point, peut-être (surtout grâce aux pneus Pirelli P Zero !) mais en vérité, je crois que les amateurs de tels VUS apprécieront le Durango SRT non pas pour des fonctions spécifiques mais pour son comportement dans l’ensemble…et pour le son mélodieux des échappements. Ah oui! Il ne faut pas oublier que ce Durango partage la même plateforme que le Jeep Grand Cherokee ce qui lui confère certaines capacités hors-route. Disons qu’avec les pneus Pirelli de performance, ce n’est pas la solution idéale pour se retrouver hors-route. Mais n’est-ce pas agréable de savoir qu’au cas où….ce serait toujours possible? Surtout en hiver…
En situation urbaine, le Durango est un peu encombrant. Mais il faut mentionner qu’il est relativement agile grâce à un rayon de braquage serré disponible par sa direction pointue.
La seule ombre au tableau en serait le prix. Un Durango SRT à traction intégrale débute à 74 395 $. L’ensemble Technologie (aide à la conduite) vous coûtera 950 $ de plus (mais si vous aimez la conduite sportive, en avez-vous vraiment besoin?), l’ensemble de divertissement pour passagers d’arrière (écrans vidéo) vous en coûtera 2150 $ alors que la décoration intérieure SRT vous arrachera encore 3250 $. Mais l’attelage de classe IV avec ses avantages électroniques ne vous coutera que 825 $ ! Le freinage Brembo très puissant vaudra 1295 $ de plus mais tout l’intérieur ultraspécialisé SRT de 3250$, la console centrale arrière de 250 $, les ceintures de sécurité rouges de 95 $ et la stéréo Harmon Kardon de 1995 $ pourraient être à considérer. Si vous aimez les bandes bleues qui passent sur la carrosserie, sachez qu’elles vous coûteraient 1495 $ de plus alors que la surveillance des angles morts exige un déboursé supplémentaire de 500 $ ! Enfin, il faudra se plier aux exigences fédérales d’un écoprélèvement de 1000 $ (!) et cette taxe toujours aussi insidieuse de 100 $ pour le climatiseur. Ah oui! Il ne faut pas oublier les 1895 $ de frais de transport et de préparation ce qui nous mène à 90 195 $... plus taxes.
Il y a plusieurs autres formes de Durango dont celle de base mue par le V6 Pentastar de quelque 305 chevaux. Sans être spectaculaire, ce grand VUS de Dodge joue un rôle important sur le marché car il répond aux attentes de bien des amateurs de VUS à traction intégrale capable non seulement de transporter de six à huit personnes mais aussi de tirer des remorques de quelque 7000 livres tout en respectant un niveau de consommation intéressant. Je pourrais vous en parler longtemps car c’est ce genre de Durango que ma propre fille utilise avec son conjoint pour leurs déplacements incluant une caravane de quelque 27 pieds! C’est toujours plus captivant de parler ou de lire sur des VUS «importés» qui seraient capables de briser des records de vitesse à plusieurs niveaux. Mais, en vérité, pourquoi un VUS nord-américain ayant toutes les mêmes qualités que ces camionnettes étrangères mais à un prix plus abordable avec un service plus facilement abordable n’aurait-il pas droit à une certaine reconnaissance? C’est un peu le cas du Durango, surtout dans sa finition SRT!
Et d’une autre Batmobile…
Au cas où vous ne le sauriez pas, il y a une autre version d’un film de Batman qui soit en préparation. Et cela, évidemment, signifie qu’il y aura une nouvelle Batmobile en vedette. J’aurais voulu vous la présenter la semaine dernière mais, j’en avais plein les bras. La voici donc cette semaine. Elle affiche une ligne qui serait basée sur un «muscle car» moderne (ne dirait-on pas le toit d’une Challenger ?) avec un moteur central et…des exagérations typiquement «batmobiliennes» ?

Une berline Mustang?
De toutes les autos sur le marché, il semble que la Mustang soit celle qui soit la plus sujette aux rumeurs. Après celle de la Mustang électrique (maintenant confirmée), voici celle de la Mustang en configuration berline…Est-ce possible? Comme le disent nos amis américains…«It’s all in the name».
D’autres nouvelles de Nissan
Pour faire suite à mes commentaires de la semaine dernière sur Nissan et sa division Infiniti, on apprenait cette semaine que le constructeur Nissan, qui connaît sa part de problèmes à se tenir la tête hors de l’eau sur le marché nord-américain, aurait décidé de mettre un terme à son aventure dans le domaine des fourgonnettes de livraison en Amérique du Nord. Donc, bye-bye NV (1500, 2500 et 3500), du moins celles de pleine grandeur quoique je ne serais pas surpris de voir les plus petites NV 200 disparaître aussi. Il faut dire que la domination des Ford Transit (bientôt livrable en version électrique) et Transit Connect n’a pas aidé la cause de Nissan! J’espère vous donner des nouvelles plus optimistes de Nissan dans le futur!

ITALY’S RECIPE FOR DISASTER

As I sit here in my involuntary isolation, it was just reported that overnight 743 more people died and 5.249 new cases have been reported. This brings the total cases of infection to 69,176 and the body count to 6,820. We take relief in knowing that 8,326 people have recovered so far (Numbers as of 3/24, 8:30pm in Italy.)
Most towns here in Italy, from the upper reaches of the Alps to the ancient shores of Sicilia and Sardenia, while not deserted, are closer to being ghost towns than the bustling centers of tourism, business and daily life they were just a few weeks ago.
Stores and shops have been shuttered. Restaurants and coffee shops no longer serve customers. Schools, universities, sporting arenas…even our museums and theaters…all closed. Even the Vatican City has closed its gates and armed patrols monitor the 20 foot tall walls that protect it!
Streets and roads are now empty for as far as the eye can see. Normally they would be filled with crazed Italian drivers in tiny cars and scooters (the ones that sound like demonic insects) darting here and there, reaching the limits of centrifugal force on our roundabouts. In the piazze of our towns and cities, there are now officially more pigeons than people. Many of us know someone who has been infected and recovered. Some of us know someone who did not recover…now they are dead. But everyone knows someone who has been affected by this microscopic monster in one way or another.
Sixty million of us are in lockdown…it is like a war zone here. We are being held prisoner in our own homes by an unseen enemy that sneaked in unnoticed…by most of us. As you will read in just a few more minutes, there were those who knew something like this was coming…or at least they should have.
So who is to blame? With all this craziness swirling like a whirlpool at our feet, I just had to find the blame answer. And so I have spent my free time (of which I have a lot in these days) digging and researching. I was literally shocked to discover how this has come to be.
I am not going to bore you with talk of Patient ‘0’ who spread it to Patient ‘1’ and how mathematics efficiently explains the rapid expansion of infection. No…I am going to tell you how (as I see it) the virus came to Italy.
It has everything to do with communism. Allow me to explain. Beginning in about 2014, Matteo Renzi, the imbecile ex-mayor of Firenze (Florence) acting as the leader of the Partito Democratico (synonymous with the Italian Communist party), somehow managed to get himself elected as Italy’s Prime Minister. To give you a proper frame of reference, Matteo Renzi was so far left, he would make Barack Obama look like Barry Goldwater!
At the same time that Renzi was leading Italy into oblivion, strange things were happening in Italy’s economy. Banks were failing…but not closing. Retirement ages were being extended…for some reason the pension funds were dwindling or disappearing... The national sales tax we call IVA (Value Added Tax) rose from 18% to 20%, then to 21% and again to 22%.
And in the midst of all this financial chicanery, the Chinese began furiously buying up Italian real estate and businesses in the North.
Now the reason I mention Renzi and the Chinese together is that strange things were also going on between the governments of Italy and China. A blind eye was being turned to the way the Chinese were buying businesses in the financial, telecommunication, industrial and fashion sectors of Italy’s economy, all of which take place in Milano.
To be brief…China was getting away with purchases and acquisitions in violation of Italian law and EU Trade Agreements with the US and the UK…and no one in either of those countries (not Obama in the US or
Cameron in the UK) said a thing in their country’s defense. As a matter of fact, much of it was hidden from the public in all three countries.
In 2014, China infused the Italian economy with €5 billion through purchases of companies costing less than €100 million each By the time Renzi left office (in disgrace) in 2016, Chinese acquisitions had exceeded €52 billion. When the dust settled, China owned more than 300 companies…representing 27% of the major Italian corporations.
The Bank of China now owns five major banks in Italy…all of which had been secretly (and illegally) propped up by Renzi using pilfered pension funds! Soon after, the China Milano Equity Exchange was opened and much of Italy’s wealth was being funneled back to the Chinese mainland.
Chinese state entities own Italy’s major telecommunication corporation (Telecom) as well as its major utilities (ENI and ENEL)... Upon entry into the telecommunication market, Huawei established a facility in Segrate, a suburb of Milano. It launched is first research center there and worked on the study of microwaves which has resulted in the possibly-dangerous technology we call 5G.
China also now owns controlling interest in Fiat-Chrysler, Prysmian and Terna. You will be surprised to know that when you put a set of Pirelli tires on your car, the profits are going to China. Yep…the Chinese
colossus of ChemChina, a chemical industry titan, bought that company too!
Last but not least is Ferretti yachts…the most prestigious yacht builder in Europe. Incredibly, it is no longer owned by the Ferretti family.
But the sector in which Chinese companies invested most was Italy’s profitable fashion industry. The Pinco Pallino, Miss Sixty, Sergio Tacchini, Roberta di Camerino and Mariella Burani brands have been acquired by 100%.
Designer Salvatore Ferragamo sold 16% and Caruso sold 35%. The most famous case is Krizia, purchased in 2014 by Shenzhen Marisfrolg Fashion Company, one of the leaders of high-priced, ready-to-wear fashions in Asia.
Throughout all of these purchases and acquisitions, Renzi’s government afforded the Chinese unrestricted and unfettered access to Italy and its financial markets, many coming through without customs inspections.
Quite literally, tens of thousands of Chinese came in through Milano (illegally) and went back out carrying money, technology and corporate secrets.
Thousands more were allowed to enter and disappeared into shadows of Milano and other manufacturing cities of Lombardy, only to surface in illegal sewing shops, producing knock-off designer clothes and slapping ‘Made In Italy’ labels on them. All with the tacit approval of the Renzi government.
It was not until there was a change in the governing party in Italy that the sweatshops and the illegal entry and departure of Chinese nationals was stopped. Matteo Salvini, representing the Lega Nord party, closed Italy’s ports to immigrants and systematically began disassembling the sweatshops and deporting those in Italy illegally.
But his rise to power was short-lived. Italy is a communist country…socialism is in the national DNA. Ways were found to remove Salvini, after which the communist party, under the direction of Giuseppe Conte, reopened the ports. Immediately, thousands of unvetted,
undocumented refugees from the Middle East and East Africa began pouring in again. Access was again provided to the Chinese, under the old terms, and as a consequence thousands of Chinese, the majority from Wuhan, began arriving in Milano.
In December of last year, the first inklings of a coronavirus were noticed in Lombardy…in the Chinese neighborhoods. There is no doubt amongst senior medical officials that the virus was brought here from China.
By the end of January 2020 cases were being reported left and right. By mid-February the virus was beginning to seriously overload the Lombardy hospitals and medical clinics. They are now in a state of collapse.
The Far-Left politicians sold out and betrayed the Italian people with open border policies and social justice programs. One of the reasons the health care system collapsed so quickly is because the Renzi government (and now continued under the Conte government) redirected funds meant to sustain the medical system, to pay for the tens of thousands of immigrants brought in to Italy against the will of the Italian people.
If you remember the horrible earthquake that decimated the villages around Amatricia, in the mountains east of Rome in 2015, you would also remember how the world responded by sending millions of dollars to help those affected
But there is a law in Italy that prevents private donations to charitable Italian organizations. All money and donations received must be turned over to a government agency, who in turn is to appropriate the funds as needed. But that agency is corrupt just as are all the others.
Most of the money never reached a single victim in the mountains. The Renzi government redirected the vast majority of those funds to pay for the growing immigrant and refugee costs.
As the economy worsened under the burden of illegal immigration, compounded by gross government spending and incompetence, unemployment rose quickly…especially among young people. The unemployment rate for men and women under age 35 is close to 40%. So more money was diverted from the health care system and used to pay what is known here as guaranteed income. Whether you work or not you are paid here, especially if you belong to the PD! The government simply raises taxes on those who do work.
Let me give you a quick example of the height of insanity to which Italian taxation has risen. If you live in a building that has a balcony or balconies…and any of those balconies cast a shadow on the ground, you must pay a public shadow tax! I will say no more!
The point I am trying to make here is that not only did the Chinese bring the virus to Italy (and the rest of the world) it was far-Left politics and policies that facilitated it.
This should hopefully be a warning to Americans that while they work to rid themselves of the China Virus, they should just as vehemently endeavor to rid their government of any politician that circumvents the Constitution and ignores the laws of the land…plain and simple.

An American muscle car features plenty of performance and is typically rear-wheel drive. Most models have been outfitted with a larger, powerful V8 engine. The term was originally used in the 1960s to describe some mass-produced cars that were meant for drag racing.
From the Shelby GT 500KR to the Chevrolet Chevelle SS/LS, there has never been a lack of muscle cars to buy.
With all the excitement and thrill surrounding muscle cars, why the drop in popularity? For many people, the models simply aren’t practical and certainly not fuel-efficient. Another reason is that the Baby Boomer generation was the leading purchaser of these vehicles. Now that the majority of them are in their 50s, they no longer have a desire to drive the lightest muscle car.
Despite their lack of interest in muscle cars, we appeal that there are enough excuses to love muscle cars in today’s day and age.
Reason #1: Storied History
There’s no question that muscle cars are iconic. The history behind the models is interesting, to say the least. If muscle cars aren’t made anymore, a part of American heritage will be taken away from us.
The first full-size muscle car is thought to be the 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88. It was the first time that a potent V8 engine was placed into a lighter, smaller vehicle. With the original Rocket, the engine was a 5.0-liter taken from a larger Oldsmobile 98. In total, this Oldsmobile pumped out 135 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. During the 1950 NASCAR racing season, this Oldsmobile won eight of the ten races.
Then, in 1955, the Chrysler C-300 was born. It contained 300 horsepower from a 5.4-liter V8 engine. It was quickly hailed as “America’s Most Powerful Car.” Chrysler was on a roll at the time, because they also produced the beloved 300.
As 1956 came to pass, the Studebaker Golden Hawk hit the scene. This American muscle car was equipped with a 5.8-liter Packard V8 engine that pumped out 275 horsepower. In 1957, AMC introduced the Rambler Rebel. This mid-sized car was the first to have a big-block V8 motor under the hood. These early cars paved the way for the Camaros, Mustangs and Challengers.
While these are simply the beginnings, there have been many firsts along the road. To get rid of muscle cars means losing this piece of history that every auto enthusiast should know about.

Reason #2: Unique Personality
What’s not to love about the personality of a muscle car? It’s not the soccer mom SUV or stuffy luxury car; it’s meant to go fast and create hype. All muscle cars are fast, aggressive and usually loud. That’s what makes them fun.
Another benefit to most muscle cars is how tail-happy they can be. When you get behind the wheel of one of the best muscle cars, it’s hard not to start drifting or sliding. Let’s see you do that in a minivan.
Reason #3: Simple Design
While all other types of cars need to keep upgrading their style to remain fresh and relevant, muscle cars are timeless. Sure, the designs might be simple, but no one wants anything else. It’s these classic, sleek bodies that continue to bring auto enthusiasts back for more.
It doesn’t matter what era of cars you look at; you will notice the same thing. From the beginning until now, all muscle cars look raw and mean.
Reason #4: Fun to Drive
If you aren’t interested in having fun on the road, buy a compact car with a four-cylinder engine. If excitement and thrills are on your agenda, then driving a muscle car is the way to go. With big engines and plenty of horsepower, these beasts are made to be driven fast.
Sure, you could purchase a sports car if power was all you wanted, but it isn’t. Driving the tail-happy muscle car is far more fun. Yes, you might do better in a sports car if you want to race, but then you would miss the excitement of swinging around the corners.
Reason #5: Harmonious Sounds
Finally, there’s one more important reason to love muscle cars. With the V8 engine under the hood, it knows how to make a glorious sound. This tone is unique to this lineup of vehicles. When a muscle car revs and redlines at 7,000 RPM, the sound that comes from it is unlike anything else you’ve ever heard.
What’s even better is when you get a group of these vehicles together, creating the noise. It’s like a symphony of Camaros, Mustangs and Hellcats. Where else can you experience the thrill?
Modern Muscle Cars
As manufacturers focus their attention on automotive marketing, there’s a battle raging for the top spot. The Ford Mustang continues to lead the pack, but the Challenger sales recently surpassed those of the Camaro. It’s anyone’s guess who will be the champion by the end of this year, but it sure has been a fun race to watch.
Whether you decide to drive a modern muscle car or you prefer the classics, you are part of a culture that can’t be silenced. You can love muscle cars because of the history or because of the speed; it really doesn’t matter. What’s important is that you help to create another 60 years of history with the new lineup of vehicles included. Our children and their children deserve to experience the same thrill and raw power that we’ve had the chance to feel.

Basically, the most popular makes and years for that golden age of high displacement muscle machines. Now it’ s time to pass it on to you good folks, so you have a quick reference to start to see the most popular muscle cars at a glance.
