What a difference 74 years makes juxtaposition of Jaguar Mark VII, 1950 & Jaguar Type 00 Concept, 2024. The news and social media media in the UK have been busy with Jaguar's new concept today so I thought I'd pitch it. First of all some context: Jaguar has been owned by Indian Multinational Tata Motors since 2008. Recently Jaguar has been doing badly, at present they don't make any saloons or sports cars at all. Their most recent model, the I-Pace electric crossover was introduced in 2018 and is scheduled to be discontinued in 2025. The E-Pace compact SUV is about to end production leaving the F-Pace SUV (introduced in 2015) as their only offering. On November 18 the Jaguar brand was relaunched with a new logo and aimed at a new, more rarified market. The Type 00 is a concept that points to the future style of Jaguar cars. It is not a "production intent" concept, their first "reimagined" production car will be an electric four‑door GT – to be revealed in late 2025. The important thing to note about their new saloon is that it will sell for around £120,000, twice the price of the last XJ saloon when it was discontinued in 2019. I have juxtaposed the Type 00 with the Mark VII because it was also launched at a time when Jaguar was repositioning itself in post-war Britain and was a high-end saloon, the first to use Jaguar's then new XK DOHC straight 6. Jaguar are taking a huge risk with their new electric saloon, only time will tell if their strategy will work but I have never seen a concept car get as much news coverage and comment as the Type 00

Pothole damage from electric cars is double that of petrol, Telegraph data show
Electric cars damage roads twice as much as their petrol equivalents, analysis has shown, as the pothole crisis grows on Britain’s roads.
Analysis by The Telegraph has found that the average electric car more than doubles the wear on road surfaces, which in turn could increase the number of potholes.
The country is suffering from a pothole crisis, with half as many filled last year compared to a decade ago amid an estimated £12 billion price tag to fill them all.
Road industry bodies have raised fears that electric cars could exacerbate the problem on residential roads. The number of electric cars being driven has tripled to 900,000 since 2019 ahead of the Government’s 2030 ban on sales of new petrol and diesel cars as part of its net zero drive.
As many as four in five miles could be driven by electric cars by 2035, according to estimates by the Department for Transport.
The Telegraph found that the average electric car puts 2.24 times more stress on roads than its petrol equivalent, and 1.95 more than diesel. Larger electric vehicles weighing over 2,000kg (2 tons) cause the most damage, with 2.32 times more wear applied to roads.
Such stress on roads causes greater movement of asphalt, which can create small cracks. If these are not fixed, then these expand and eventually develop into potholes.
The Telegraph used analysis led by the University of Leeds which assessed the weights of 15 popular electric car models alongside their petrol equivalents.
Researchers divided them by size, including small electric cars weighing over 1,000kg, such as the BMW Mini Cooper SE 3 Door and Peugeot e208, medium models over 1,500kg such as the Ford Focus Electric and Vauxhall Corsa-e, and larger vehicles including the Jaguar I- pace EV and Audi e-tron 50 Quattro.
They found that the electric vehicles were on average 312kg heavier than similar petrol versions. This is because they must carry heavy batteries, which can weigh up to 500kg.

Vamos começar do começo.

Tata Harrier 2023: What We Know About the Rumored EV-Inspired Facelift
Tumblr media
The Tata Harrier is a small crossover SUV built by the Indian automaker Tata Motors Ltd. It has five seats and a diesel engine. It was unveiled on January 23, 2019, and it bridges the gap between the midsize Safari and the diminutive Tata Nexon.
During the development process, a prototype of this mid-size SUV with the project code Q501 was known as the Tata H5X concept car. The parent company disclosed the reduction name "Harrier" in the summer of 2018. The automobile is a C-segment SUV constructed on the OmegaArc platform, which is essentially a revamped version of the Jaguar Land Rover D8 platform used by models like the Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport, and Jaguar E-Pace.
OMEGARC stands for Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture. It is a monocoque structure. It contains crumple zones for safety. In order to save production costs, the OmegaArc has been modified in comparison to the original D8. Compared to the multilink of the Jaguar Land Rover models, the OmegaArc's twist-beam rear suspension and panhard rod with coil spring are less expensive, while the front axle still employs the same MacPherson strut with coil spring and anti-roll bar. The body has less high-strength steel.

Here’s a changelog for this patch. - Working cars! Every car is now compatible with roundgrass’ script for mapless travels. You can get it here. - Realistic prices! Car prices have now been fixed to realistic USD values, as my patreon voted in a survey. However, they won’t go over 5mln $. - Model years! Each car now has its official model year at the beginning of its name in Build Mode, and at the end of the file name. - New file names! Each mod now has “LorySims” tag at the beginning of the name, for better content management in your Mods folder. - 98 cars fixed! 98 of my vehicles were fixed from shadow issues, bad surfaces, poor textures, flat rims and other bugs. - 12 cars remeshed! 12 cars were remodeled from scratch, in order to be better looking while keeping a similiar polycount. These cars are: 2020 Audi RS6, 2020 Audi e-tron, 2019 Audi Q8, 2014 Audi S8, 2017 Bugatti Chiron, 2016 Ford GT, 2016 Honda NSX, 2019 Jaguar I-Pace, 2018 Range Rover Velar, 2019 Volvo S60, 2015 Jeep Renegade, 2012 Fisker Karma. Just 60 examples of these all-wheel drive sports cars will be available for sale worldwide, each one hand-finished by the personalization experts at SV Bespoke.
The commemorative specification includes solid Sherwood Green paintwork, an original E-type color that hasn’t been offered on a new Jaguar since the 1960s, and extended duo-tone Caraway & Ebony Windsor leather interior trim which isn’t normally available on F-Type.
The new limited-run model also features a unique aluminum console finisher inspired by the E-type’s rear-view mirror casing, the E-type 60th anniversary logo embossed on the headrests of the lightweight Performance seats and E-type 60 badging shared with the limited-edition E-type 60 Collection vehicles announced by Jaguar Classic earlier this year. 2022 BMW iX First Look: Bavaria’s EV SUV Challenger Enters the Arena
We drove the electric Jaguar I-Pace from London to Berlin in mid-2018, before scooting through the deserts of Abu Dhabi Audi’s electric powered e-tron just before Christmas that same year. We flew to Norway to sample the electric-powered Mercedes-Benz EQC in May 2019. With luck, we’ll get to drive a production version of BMW’s electric-powered rival to all three, the iX, in late in 2021. Which begs the question: What took BMW so long to enter its challenger to a wave of European luxury EV SUVs?
You don’t have to wander far into the iX’s 23-page press kit to find a clue: The new SUV, it says, is BMW Group’s new technology flagship. The I-Pace, e-tron, and EQC are much more tentative vehicles, both in terms of their hardware and the way they’re positioned within the Jaguar, Audi and Mercedes-Benz product hierarchies. The iX, on the other hand, is BMW going all in. This X5-sized SUV is being positioned as a vehicle that, more than even the company’s traditional flagship, the big 7 Series sedan, showcases what the best and the brightest brains in Munich can achieve.
Ultimate Driving . . . EV?
The iX is BMW’s future made real, a point BMW AG chairman Oliver Zipse made crystal clear at the car’s digital unveiling: “The BMW Group is constantly striving to reinvent itself. That is a central element of our corporate strategy. The BMW iX expresses this approach in an extremely concentrated form.” The iX not only debuts hardware, software, design elements, and manufacturing techniques that will influence all future BMWs—it also readies a brand once defined by its appeal to petrolhead driving enthusiasts for an autonomous, electric-powered world.
Some things haven’t changed, however. As you’d expect of a BMW flagship, the iX is powerful, with two electric motors—one mounted at the rear axle and one at the front axle—developing a total of more than 500 hp. And it should be quick, though BMW’s claim of zero-to-60-mph acceleration in under 5.0 seconds is almost certainly understated. For context, the 355-hp, 5844-pound Audi E-Tron hits 60mph in 5.1 seconds, while the 394-hp, 4696-pound Jaguar I-Pace nails it in 4.0 seconds. Mercedes-Benz claims a 4.8-seconds 0-60 time for the 402-hp, 5500-pound EQC.
How Much Range with the BMW iX Offer? Plenty
Of course, for most people the key issue with electric vehicles is not how fast one is, but how far it’ll go per charge. The iX’s powerful electric motors, which have been developed in-house and do not use rare earth materials, draw from a high-voltage 100-kWh battery, and BMW says it aims to beat a consumption rate of 33.8 kWh per 100 miles on the global WTLP test cycle to deliver an EPA-rated range of more than 300 miles. The iX’s power electronics allow DC fast charging at up to 200 kW, which means the battery can be topped up from 10 percent charge to 80 percent in fewer than 40 minutes. Adding 75 miles of range takes just 10 minutes. An 11-kW wallbox charger will take the battery from 0 to 100 percent charge in under 11 hours.
The iX is built using a bespoke aluminum spaceframe with light and rigid carbon-reinforced plastic used on the bodyside and roof frames, cowl, and the rear window frame. It’s as long and wide as the midsize X5 SUV, virtually the same height overall as an X6 (the X5’s slinkier sibling), and its wheelbase is 1.0 inch longer. Standard wheels are 20-inch alloys that have been optimized for aero efficiency, with flashier 21- and 22-inch items available as options. The kick-up at the rear of the greenhouse and the aggressive M4-style “grille”—it is actually a closed panel behind which are sensors, radar units and cameras—make the synapses snap “BMW,” but the closer you look at the iX, the more you realize how much of a departure it is from current BMW design themes.
It’s mostly a softer, cleaner looking car than any current BMW, particularly in terms of the bodyside, and at the rear, where the clamshell tailgate results in fewer obvious shutlines. (That said, modern BMW design is a busy look, so the iX is best described as among the brand’s least-loud than the best-looking.) The more compact powertrain under the hood has allowed the touchdown point of the A-pillars on the front fenders to be moved forward to improve interior room, and the front overhang looks longer than that of the X5. The large chamfers over the wheel openings, oddly reminiscent of those on the doughy first-generation Hyundai Santa Fe, and the round-cornered clamshell hood that squashes down over squinty headlights are like nothing we’ve seen from BMW before.
So, too, is the interior. The instrument panel and infotainment screens are combined into a single free-standing panel that curves across two-thirds of the cloth or leather covered dash and sits behind a hexagonal-shaped steering wheel. The start-stop button, gear selector toggle and e-brake are located in an extension of the armrest between the front seats, alongside a wood-surfaced panel that includes capacitor switches for various infotainment functions and a jewel-like glass rotary controller. Other different design touches include slim HVAC vents, minimalist switches for seat adjustment and the power windows, and audio speakers hidden behind the door trims.
“The vehicle itself is technologically very, very complicated,” says BMW design chief Adrian van Hooydonk. “But it’s this technology that has allowed us to reduce the interior design dramatically.” Van Hooydonk calls it shy technology: “The technology is there, but it’s not in your face.” Indeed, the iX boasts more computer power and more powerful sensor technology than any current BMW and is ready for 5G connectivity. “It is probably the most intelligent BMW we have ever built,” he says.
The iX goes into production at BMW’s Dingolfing plant in the second half of 2021, with the first cars expected to arrive in the U.S. in early 2022. In preparation, BMW North America has partnered with EVgo to provide access to more than 800 fast charge points and 35,000 Level 2 charge points via a smartphone app.
