Detroit Auto Show 2019
Lexus LC Convertible Concept As realistic as it is, this cabriolet is still a concept. Indeed, this Lexus LC decapsulated series has no roof at all, so it is unclear, in case this car would reach production, if it would have a hood or hard-top retractable. It seems that the LC Convertible Concept has been decided and carried out in a certain precipitation, which does not detract from its beauty. It even keeps two small rear seats. As for a possible marketing, Tadao Mori, the designer responsible for its lines, says it would be "very exciting". The reverse would have been amazing ...
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Cadillac XT6 Vogue SUV requires, Cadillac neglects the sedans for the benefit of 4x4 road. Evidenced by the all-new XT6, overseeing the XT5 with its 5.05 m long. Drawn while sober (or even banal) to better counter its European rivals, the XT6 remains lower in range to the Escalade and is currently for a 3.6 l V6 developing 310 hp. Combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission, it sends its cavalry either to the 4 wheels or to the front axle. Above all, it has six passengers on three rows of seats, but the technological equipment is not necessarily standard. It seems that Cadillac is still looking with this apparently dull SUV, but that could quite happen in Europe.
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Volkswagen Passat Even though sedans are losing steam in the US, VW is presenting Detroit with the 2nd generation Passat specific to the North American market. Evolution of its predecessor presented in 2011, it has nothing to do with that sold at home since it still borrows its platform at the Golf VI. It should be known that in the United States, the Passat is a cheap car, while it is getting closer to the premium in Europe. Under the hood, the American Passat is content with a 4-cylinder 2.0 l turbo 176 hp gasoline hitched to an automatic 6-box (not a DSG): a bit just to fight the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord , who trust the first places of the segment ...
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Lexus RC F restyled After the hybrid version, it is the turn of the F, sports version of the RC coupe, to benefit from a slight restyling. Projectors and calender, in particular, evolve slightly. Under the hood, we find the V8 atmo which sees its power drop from 477 to 464 hp, depollution requires. This loss of power is offset by a weight down, while the chassis is sharp. At his side, we discover a very radicalized version, the Track Edition, inspired by the GT3 entered in competition. It adopts aggressive aerodynamic accessories, including a large rear wing benefiting the support and limiting drag. It weighs about 80 kg less than the F (carbon fiber roof, carbon-ceramic brakes) and goes from 0 to 100 km / h in just over 4 seconds. On sale in the second quarter of 2019.
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Nissan IMs concept While fashion is the SUV, Nissan imagine the next shot, which could be a return to sedans. Finally almost because its IMs concept adopts a raised ground clearance, contrasting with its fast-back line being sporty. Because if it is electric, Nissan does not forget the power, its two engines (one by rolling, which makes it a 4-wheel drive) totaling 483 hp for 800 Nm of torque. In addition, the autonomy exceeds 600 km and above all, the IMs prides itself on being able to guide itself. In the end, this concept only slightly exceeds what Tesla offers in mass production.
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Subaru STI S209 Limited Edition Former star of the rallies, the Impreza has lost its little name to be called only WRX STI. In Detroit, it is declined in a version S209 Limited Edition. As its name suggests, this is a limited series, of which 200 copies will be exclusively offered in the USA. It is mainly signaled by its 2.5 l boxer engine, more powerful than ever with its 341 hp. The chassis benefits from a preparation inspired by the settings of the victorious race version at the Nürburgring 24 Hours in SP3T. Curiously, it will not be commercialized until the end of 2019.
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Ram Heavy Duty Having become a full-fledged brand, Ram is presenting its new Heavy Duty range in Detroit. These are huge pickups, mainly intended for professional use, and most often driven by colossal engines. Thus, in basic version, the Ram receives a V6 Hemi 6.4 l of 410 hp for 581 Nm. It goes again. But we can opt for a 6.7-liter Cummins 6-cylinder diesel engine developing 400 hp for a monstrous torque of 1,360 Nm! This allows the goliath of the roads to tow 35 100 pounds (or about 16 tons) and accommodate 7 680. Utilitarian, the Ram is nevertheless very welcoming and comfortable, and enjoys advanced equipment. Not available in France? Let's bet that private importers will do anything to offer it to us.
Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary
80 years ago, Lincoln presented its first Continental. On the occasion of this anniversary, the luxury brand Ford Group presents a limited series of its flagship, characterized by its doors opening antagonist, in reference to the Continental launched in 1961. Only 80 copies of this limousine, lengthened 15 cm to install these specific openings, will be manufactured. The rear passengers enjoy all the comfort possible, but under the hood, no fat V8 gulping. Instead, there is a V6 3.0 l biturbo of 400 hp.
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Infiniti QX Inspiration If she is still struggling in Europe, Infiniti, the luxury brand of the Alliance Renault-Nissan, sells many more cars in the US, the market for which it was created. It presents in Detroit its concept QX Inspiration, an electric SUV announcing the future of the style of the brand. Purified, the QX also sports reduced overhangs and a very vertical front, all suggesting a certain dynamism. The roof adopts translucent panels letting light filter through a wooden trellis inspired by Japanese homes: chic and original. No technical info was given.
Detroit Auto Show 2019
GAC Entranze Slowly but surely, Chinese manufacturers are setting up around the world. Thus, GAC has opened a design center in California that produced this very interesting concept Entranze, whose name indicates its entry across the Atlantic. Filming the metaphor, it is distinguished by its transparent doors (not a novelty in itself) opening sliding like those of a closet. Inside, surprise, we see the use of a rare material in the car: cork. With reference to bottle caps? Perhaps intoxicating, but in any case electric, this concept opens the door to the first models that GAC hopes to sell in the US by 2020.
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Ford Explorer ST United States requires, the big SUVs hold the upper hand in Detroit, where Ford unveils its new Explorer. Cleverly redesigned, it now comes in a strong ST version of 400 hp. To offer this power, it relies either on a good big V8 but a V6 3.0 l biturbo: the downsizing rife also at Uncle Sam! This block is complete with an automatic transmission, obviously, but still counting 10 reports, ordering a full transmission. This rival of the Audi SQ7 will certainly not be offered in Europe, where its price would be very high anyway for a Ford, knowing that it will be $ 60,000 across the Atlantic. Not to mention CO2 emissions ...
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Toyota Supra After more than 16 years of waiting, enthusiasts are delighted to see Toyota revive a Supra. Succeeding the Mk IV disappeared in 2002, the Mk V changes the formula, to get closer to that of the 2000 GT of the 60s. Smaller than its predecessor, the new Supra sports a less spectacular line and loses its rear seats, but it keeps a 6-cylinder in line. This one is provided by BMW, which is not surprising since the Toyota, technically, is very close to the very last Z4, and manufactured, like him, in Graz in Austria. Developing 340 hp, the 3.0-liter twin-turbo block attaches to a ZF carbox and catapults the German-Japanese sports car to 100 km / h in 4.3 s. It will be available in Europe in mid-2019. As an indication, it is billed $ 49,990 in the US entry level.
Detroit Auto Show 2019
Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 What a mouth! The new Shelby Mustang is not in lace with its curved bonnet and aerodynamic accessory. But it's nothing compared to what's going on under the hood. Fueled by an Eaton compressor, the large 5.2-liter V8 exceeds 700 hp. Excuse the little! Do not look, it's more than for the Ford GT supercar, and is even a record for a road Ford. Combined with a box 7 double clutch, it rushes Shelby to 100 km / h in about 3.5 seconds. To stay on the road, it is equipped Magneride controlled dampers, 20-inch wheels and brakes Brembo. Unfortunately, it is not planned to officially export it to Europe.

Lexus LC has a major addition on the way sometime in 2019. Lexus International Strategic Communications Senior Manager Moe Durand kept the details close to his chest by simply telling Car Buzz "something big is coming to LC this year." Lexus appears to be subtly teasing that the upcoming unveiling could be the highly anticipated LC F that adds performance to the luxurious grand tourer. As evidence, the company briefly showed an LC test mule during the RC F Track Edition's media presentation, according to Car Buzz. The PR representatives at the event then allegedly refused to discuss the image. Rumors offer multiple possibilities for the LC F's powertrain. It may pack a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 making 621 horsepower (463 kilowatts). Alternatively, engineers might tune the existing naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8. A third prospect is creating a supercharged version of the current V8, and there is also speculation about creating a performance-oriented hybrid. While the prospect of an LC F is tantalizing, it's possible that Durand could be referring to the arrival of the LC convertible as the "something big." The company is quite open about intending to put the concept into production, too. Either way, new variants might boost LC sales. The company delivered 1,979 of them in 2018, which was down from 2,487 in 2017. Through March 2019, sales volume was just 320 units, down 38.7 percent year over year.

Provedení RC F Track Edition, věrné filozofii mimořádných jízdních schopností vozů Lexus s označením F, využívá nové prvky z uhlíkových vláken, které snižují hmotnost a zlepšují aerodynamické vlastnosti a přítlak.
Model RC F Track Edition, poháněný atmosférickou jednotkou Lexus V8, se dále chlubí keramickými brzdovými kotouči, titanovým výfukem a interiérem čalouněným červenou kůží k optickému zdůraznění jízdních schopností tohoto provedení.

Motor News: 2019 North American International Auto Show Recap
The North American International Auto Show is always a special event for us here at Motorweek. But this year’s Detroit festivities are even more noteworthy, as this is the last time the show will be held in usually frigid January. It migrates to a warmer June time frame next year. But, before we get all nostalgic, let's see all of 20-19’s big reveals!
While most European automakers didn’t make the Detroit stop this year. The majority of domestic and import brands arrived at the 2019 North American International Auto Show with an extensive stream of all-new models that we just can’t wait to drive.
As always, the North American Car of the Year awards kicked things off. This year’s NACTOY honors going to the Genesis G70 for Car of the Year…
…the Ram 1500 for Truck of the Year…
…and the Hyundai Kona, including the Kona EV, for Utility of the Year.
Congratulations to all!
It was the Ford stand that really get our adrenaline pumping. As if descending from performance-car heaven…the all-new Mustang Shelby GT500. 700+ horsepower from a 5.2–liter supercharged V8 mated to a 7-speed DCT; no manual for now! While that may be heresy, with a 0-60 in the low 3s, this Shelby is going to kick some serious butt on the drag strip, along with road course dominance thanks to a magnetic suspension, loads of rubber crammed into the wheel wells, and Brembo brakes. Carroll Shelby would definitely approve!
Ford had one for the family street scene as well…the all-new, three-row, 2020 Explorer SUV. Sharing the Lincoln Aviator’s chassis, it returns to a rear-wheel-drive architecture for better towing, with all-wheel-drive an option.
Targeting a wide swath of buyers, the all-new Explorer will be available as a Hybrid, as a high-performance 400 horsepower ST, and even as a Police Interceptor Utility.
Crosstown rival General Motors focused on providing families with three row crossover luxury in the new Cadillac XT6. It’s a more car-like option to the still truck framed Escalade. Sharing basics with the GMC Acadia, a 310-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 and 9-speed automatic transmission make up the XT6 powertrain.
The big news at Fiat-Chrysler, was big trucks, with an all-new Ram Heavy Duty. Yes, it does have 1,000 lb-ft. of torque, with its available high output 6.7-liter I6 Cummins Diesel; and double-yes, it will out-power, out-tow…35,000 pounds worth…and out-haul all other pickups. The Ram Power Wagon returns too, here with an updated 6.4-liter HEMI gas V8.
Debuts from imports start with a car…the new Volkswagen Passat. Most of its Tennessee-built underpinnings and drive gear remain the same, but the sleek new sheet-metal is a major departure, and we like where it’s headed.
Perhaps even bigger news, was Volkswagen’s announcement of major expansion of the Chattanooga plant for upcoming EV models. With VW’s new Ford technology alliance, we might even see some future Blue Oval EVs made there.
Toyota officially unveiled the worst kept secret in car-dom, the all-new Supra, the first production car developed by Toyota’s GAZOO racing team. There’s still an inline-6 under the hood, only now it comes from Bavaria, as Supra shares a lot of its engineering with the BMW Z4. That turbocharged mill cranks 335-horsepower, and will shuttle lucky owners to 60 in just over four seconds.
Toyota sprinkled some of their performance dust on the Lexus RC F as well, with a new Track Edition; boasting 472-horsepower from its 5.0-liter V8 plus speed focused aero tricks and weight removal galore.
Subaru’s STI tuner arm rewarded their most ardent fans with the special edition STI S209, the first S-line performance car sold in America. It sports road-rally style chassis updates, a wide-body design, and a 341-horsepower 2.5-liter turbo boxer engine.
Yes, the biggest Kia ever, the 3-row Telluride crossover utility is finally a reality. Sharing chassis with the Hyundai Palisade, it’s brawny body has room for 8, with plenty of V6 power to haul them, and their gear, to whatever active lifestyle stuff they get into.
Speaking of cousin Hyundai, they debuted the Elantra GT N Line. It launches a new series that fits between their full N brand performance cars, and everyday models. Confusion to follow.
This year’s Detroit show included more eye-popping concepts than usual. After showing a longer range Leaf e+ at CES, this Nissan IMs EV concept may predict a sleek electric sport sedan joining the mix.
Nissan’s Infiniti could be the next brand to unleash a full-EV SUV; and that could be just the beginning. This concept, the QX Inspiration, rides on an all-new platform that will be the basis for a wide range of electrified offerings.
Technically, this Lexus LC Convertible is a concept, but it looks ready for prime time to us. It also looks like a no-brainer; and would easily be the car to be seen in on the streets in Southern California and South Florida.
We’re told this crossover concept is a clear sign of what’s coming as GM transitions Cadillac to their lead electric vehicle brand. Now, we didn’t actually see the vehicle, just these pictures, with no specific details, but Cadillac says stay tuned!
We’ve seen this diesel-powered Mahindra Roxor Jeep-lookalike for some time now; and as you might imagine, FCA has issues with the design, and has taken the brand to court. But for now, it’s off-highway use only for this little runabout; making it the perfect mashup of an old CJ and a new Side-by-Side.
And it wouldn’t be a proper Detroit show without a Chinese car company saying U.S. sales are imminent. This year we have a 5-time return player as GAC Motor was back with its ENTRANZE EV concept, as well as production previews of several models including the GM6 minivan and the GS5 compact SUV.
And that’s it for the 2019 North American International Auto Show. We’ll be back in summer of 2020 for more from Motown!

2019 Detroit Auto Show Preview: The New Cars, Trucks, EVs, and Concepts to Expect
It’s all about Motor City and the 2019 Detroit auto show this week, where automakers are preparing to debut tons of new cars, concepts, and trucks that we can’t wait to see in the metal. Plan on seeing new concepts from Nissan, Infiniti, and China’s GAC, plus plenty of American iron at the final North American International Auto Show that will be held in the month of January. The show officially moves to June in 2020, which will make a nice change of pace from the freezing weather that typically greets our trips to Cobo Center. Read on for a preview of all the 2019 debuts we know about—there’s always a surprise or two, too!—and be sure to follow our live coverage from the D on our show landing page and on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
2020 Cadillac XT6
Think of this large midsize three-row sport utility as Cadillac’s answer to the rear-drive-based Lincoln Aviator. Power for the XT6 should come from a 310-hp 3.6-liter V-6 with stop-start technology, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and the option of either front- or all-wheel drive. Speaking of options, we can wait to see all of its new interior upgrades and add-ons. Based on the teaser image Cadillac tweeted today, we know that it will have a front end.
2020 Ford Explorer
The all-new rear- and all-wheel-drive Explorer has already been unveiled, and its base engine remains a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, albeit with a 20-hp increase to 300 horses. Torque remains unchanged at 310 lb-ft. There’s also a 365-hp, 385-lb-ft 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 in the top-trim Explorer Platinum, and both engines mate exclusively to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Sporty Explorer ST and efficient hybrid models have been confirmed—we can tell you more about them soon. [Read More]
2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
Last year brought the scintillating Mustang Bullitt, while this year FoMoCo turns it up a few notches more with the highly anticipated 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500. Expect it to feature a supercharged version of the 5.2-liter V-8 found in the GT350 and GT350R. Power output remains unknown, but there’s little doubt that it will have more muscle than the previous-generation GT500, which checked in at 662 horsepower.
2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility
The latest Ford cop SUV has also broken cover, and it goes green with a standard 3.3-liter V-6 with hybrid assistance. There’s an optional 3.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V-6, as well as a 3.3-liter naturally aspirated V-6. The engines are all mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive. [Read More]
GAC
China’s Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) has staked out show floor turf since the 2017 Detroit Auto Show—its 2018 stand is pictured above—and is poised to enter the U.S. market this year unless someone whose name resembles Trumpchi tweets otherwise. (Trumpchi is a brand owned by GAC.) Expect to see a cool concept from GAC and maybe some fireworks online, too.
Hyundai
Last year’s Detroit show hosted the premiere of the Veloster N, but what will Hyundai bring to Motown this year? Perhaps something even racier? Stay tuned.
Infiniti QX Inspiration Concept
A new fully electric crossover concept will usher in a new look for the brand’s people haulers, while also celebrating the 30th anniversary of the brand’s launch at the same show in 1989. Expect a lounge-like cabin with plenty of new bells and whistles.
2020 Kia Telluride
The Kia Telluride crossover can accommodate up to eight passengers and will be built at the brand’s U.S. plant in West Point, Georgia. A V-6 engine will provide power and it will slot above the Sorento, which offers four-cylinder power and seating that stops at seven.
2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition
Despite what the name suggests, the RC F Track Edition is a purpose-built vehicle, not a special-edition package. It will join the lineup in limited production and is promised to be the most powerful non-LFA car ever from the brand.
Nissan Concept
Nissan is planning to unveil an EV concept car or crossover of some kind. There is a new Star Wars movie on the horizon, so it could also be another movie tie-in but we expect it’s something more significant.
2019 Nissan Leaf Plus
Nissan used the 2019 CES event to launch its new long-range version of the Leaf EV. We know its new, 62-kWh battery pack increases its range to 226 miles, 75 more than the current non-Plus car. Will we see a variant in Detroit? Perhaps.
2019 Ram Heavy Duty
Last year, Ram introduced its new 1500 (pictured above), which we love, and now comes the burlier 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty versions. Is there more to love? You bet. Expect more horsepower, more torque, more luxury, and more, well, everything else.
2020 Subaru WRX STI S209
Subaru has confirmed the S209 will debut at the Detroit auto show. All we know so from teaser images is that the latest Subie sports a black grille, special badging, and a red accent line that denotes its sportier stature. We expect a decent power boost, and certainly can’t wait to drive it. [Read More]
2020 Toyota Supra
Hello? If you’re not excited for the arrival of the all-new fifth-generation Toyota Supra, you might want to check your pulse. The Supra is back and we can’t wait to see the official reveal after seeing it leaked and teased over and over the past few months. We’ve already driven the prototype and can tell you Toyota is on the right track. [Read More]
2020 Volkswagen Passat
The new Passat gets almost completely new sheetmetal, while the lineup will simplify to only SE, SEL, and R-Line trims. All will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making the same 174 horsepower as before, but the good news is that torque gets bumped to 207 lb-ft, an increase of 23. The sole transmission is a six-speed torque-converter automatic, while advance sketches of the sedan actually provide a good idea of what it’ll look like (we’ve already seen it). [Read More]

[Read More]
