Tracker 2019: preços, versões, desempenho, ficha técnica, fotos, etc

O Chevrolet Tracker 2019 foi o último modelo da segunda geração do SUV compacto da General Motors, embora a primeira fosse de fato um Suzuki Grand Vitara de segunda geração.

Este utilitário esportivo compacto foi produzido em alguns países e chegava ao Brasil a partir do México, onde era feito em Ramos Arizpe. Apesar de, para nós, ser o segundo, em realidade, o Tracker existe sob o Vitara desde o surgimento deste.

Ele era vendido apenas na América do Norte sob a divisão Geo-Metro e também como Chevrolet. Aqui, esta última geração era desassociada da Suzuki e feita sobre um projeto global da plataforma Gamma II.

Tendo gerado modelos irmãos como Opel Mokka X, Buick Encore e seu nome nos EUA, o Chevrolet Trax. Também foi vendido com a marca Holden, mas recebeu o nome Tracker apenas no Brasil e países da Commonwealth.

Fabricado na Coreia do Sul, Uzbequistão, China e, naturalmente, no México, o Tracker foi opção interessante para o mercado brasileiro, mas aqui era um player que jogava apenas com uma das pernas.

Existem alguns motivos para isso, mas o principal era que imperava entre Brasil e México, um acordo automotivo que previa cotas para cada fabricante, impedindo maior volume do modelo por aqui.

Além disso, o Tracker sofreu ainda com a presença da Captiva, que devido ao sucesso no Brasil, atrasou inicialmente o avanço do SUV compacto. Depois foi a vez da Equinox, que veio para brigar com o também mexicano VW Tiguan.

Outro ponto negativo é que o Tracker 2019 era um carro limitado em oferta de versões, tendo recebido com muito custo a versão LT em anos anteriores, a Premier para substituir a antiga LTZ e, por fim, a Midnight para fechar o ciclo.

Em outros mercados, o Tracker tinha até versão LS, bem como motor 1.6 16V de 115 cavalos, que foi usado aqui no malfadado Sonic. Para este Chevrolet, que teve uma versão personalizada há alguns anos, ficou a espera por mudanças.

Essa de fato veio, mas a partir do Tracker 2021, que passou a ser feito no Brasil em geração que estreou inicialmente na China, trazendo novidades como motores 1.0 e 1.2, ambos turbinados e sem injeção direta, por exemplo.

No velho Tracker, a GM preferir manter aqui uma proposta de desempenho usando o mesmo motor Ecotec 1.4 Turbo de até 153 cavalos e 24,5 kgfm do Cruze. Automático, ele resumia sua oferta nessa mecânica.

Bom por um lado, ruim por outro, já que os preços não tinham como baixar com uma oferta de desempenho. Fora isso, devido ao seu peso e outros fatores, nunca foi um carro econômico, apesar da tecnologia a bordo.

Tinha tudo para ter uma média boa, com turbocompressor, intercooler e injeção direta, esta última que até a GMB dispensou na geração seguinte.

Com um ar pesado, tendo pouca economia e com um desempenho que foi superado pela geração de motor mais fraco (e 144 kg mais leve), o Tracker 2019 foi uma das últimas ações da Chevrolet antes de virar a mesa com novidades recentes.

Até deixou de ser feito no México, dando lugar ao modelo brasileiro. Em sua última oferta, o SUV compacto da GM não se redimiu e manteve os preços altos, querendo sair de cabeça erguida, mas sendo mesmo um mero coadjuvante.

Tracker 2019 – detalhes

O Chevrolet Tracker 2019 era um SUV de linhas volumosas e musculosas, que refletia a geração de modelos envolventes da GM antes da atual. Aqui, isso era mais representativo com o primeiro Cruze, que também era um carro global.

Utilizando a mesma base do Sonic, que em parte era compartilhada com Onix, Prisma, Cobalt e Spin nacionais, o SUV tinha uma frente com layout expressivo, tendo recebido isso na atualização visual de poucos anos antes.

A grade era afilada e tinha um friso único cromado, contendo o logotipo Chevrolet, que era preto na versão Midnight. Os faróis tinham um olhar aguçado dupla parábola na versão LT, enquanto Premier e a Midnight tinham projetores.

Estes eram de LED com luzes diurnas em LEDs. Com para-choque alto, o Tracker tinha grade hexagonal na parte central dessa peça, assim como acabamento cromado do entorno da mesma, tal como as molduras laterais.

Estas vinham com faróis de neblina circulares e luzes de conversão estática, ampliando assim a segurança. Um protetor inferior de cor cinza estava presente nas versões mais caras.

Com para-lamas abaulados na frente e atrás, o Tracker 2019 tinha molduras nas saias de rodas e proteção na parte inferior das portas. Os retrovisores, apoiados na lataria, tinham repetidores de direção e até rebatimento elétrico.

Eram pintados na cor do carro (exceto Midnight, onde eram em preto brilhante), assim como as maçanetas das portas. Na opção Premier, havia acabamento cromado nestas.

O Chevrolet Tracker dessa geração, tinha antena proeminente no teto e barras longitudinais de cor cinza. Na traseira, as lanternas tinham iluminação em LED com formato vertical.

Havia um defletor de ar envolvente sobre a vigia da tampa, tendo acabamento em preto brilhante. O vidro tinha lavador e limpador com desembaçador. Com puxador embutido, a porta traseira tinha moldura na cor do carro ou cromada.

Na Midnight, essa cobertura sobre a placa era em preto brilhante. Aliás, essa versão personalizada tinha ainda rodas de liga leve aro 18 polegadas com acabamento em preto brilhante e cinco raios.

Já o Tracker Premier entrega o mesmo tamanho de roda e medida de pneu (215/55 R18), mas com cinco raios duplos e acabamento diamantado. No caso da versão de entrada LT, era aro 16 polegadas com pneus 205/70 R16 e visual simples.

O para-choque traseiro era pronunciado e tinha dois refletores, assim como protetor inferior em cor cinza nas versões mais caras, sendo preto na LT. A base de todos eles era preta também. Premier e Midnight ainda tinham teto solar.

Por dentro, o painel tinha aspecto moderno e um desenho de duplo cockpit, ainda da geração anterior de carros da Chevrolet. Revisado há poucos anos, tinha um cluster com display digital muito semelhante ao da Spin 2020.

Ele substituiu o antigo, que era semelhante ao da minivan antes da atualização visual. Com linhas sinuosas e difusores de ar verticais, o conjunto frontal chamava atenção pelo revestimento soft costurado em cobre, tendo detalhes em preto.

Já com computador de bordo na instrumentação, o comando deste ficava na haste dos limpadores, tendo ainda volante de três raios com ajustes em altura e profundidade. Nas versões Premier e Midnight, o acabamento era em couro e cinza.

A multimídia MyLink tinha sistema OnStar, assim como câmera de ré, Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth e USB. O SUV compacto tinha ainda porta-luvas mediano e ar condicionado manual.

Além disso, trazia ainda alavanca de câmbio em couro com mudanças manuais por botão e freio de estacionamento mecânico por alavanca. A base do seletor era preta na LT e preto brilhante nas duas mais caras.

Havia também piloto automático e comandos de luzes na lateral esquerda. O banco tinha apoio de braço para o motorista e os assentos tinham revestimento em tecido na LT e couro nas demais, estes com costuras de cor bronze.

Os vidros elétricos nas quatro portas ficavam bem à mão, assim como os espelhos retrovisores. Teto e colunas eram claras, tendo as duas versões mais caras, teto solar elétrico. Atrás, o Tracker 2019 tinha até apoio de braço central com copos.

Todos os lugares tinham apoio de cabeça e cinto de 3 pontos. Havia Isofix no banco traseiro, que era bipartido. No porta-malas, contudo, apesar do porte do SUV, havia espaço apenas para 306 litros.

O estepe ficava no assoalho e havia iluminação com tampa interna. Esse problema do pouco volume foi resolvido na nova geração, que ainda fica devendo um pouco em relação aos concorrentes.

Com suspensão McPherson na frente e eixo de torção atrás, o Chevrolet Tracker era um carro bem interessante e sua composição estrutural, tendo recebido nos últimos dias, controles de tração e estabilidade de série.

O mesmo em relação ao assistente de partida em rampa, mas continuou a oferecer o pacote de airbags laterais e de cortina, leitor de faixa e alerta de colisão apenas como opcionais na Premier, mas inexistentes na Midnight.

Tracker 2019 – versões

As versões do Tracker 2019 eram bem resumidas, tendo a versão LT de acesso, assim como a Premier no lugar da LTZ, que saiu de linha pouco antes. A personalizada Midnight completou a gama como um atrativo de despedida do produto.

Preços

Os preços do Tracker 2019 estavam bem altos em seu fim de carreira. Importado do México, a GM não apostou em redução dos preços ou congelamentos dos reajustes diante da nova geração.

Atuando na faixa entre R$ 90.000 e R$ 110.000, o Tracker competia com alguns players que já estavam turbinados, como o VW T-Cross, porém, já defasado dentro da gama Chevrolet, ele parecia pesado e pouco eficiente pelo que valia.

Tracker 2019 – motor

O Tracker 2019 foi equipado apenas com motor Ecotec 1.4 Turbo, que é fabricado na Argentina, em Rosário, onde também equipa os modelos Cruze e Cruze Sport6.

Esse propulsor faz parte da família SGE (Small Gasoline Engine), uma gama de motores desenvolvida pela Opel, SAIC, MG, Shanghai-GM e Patac. Com bloco de quatro cilindros, o 1.4 Turbo é um propulsor compacto e bem potente.

Ele possui cabeçote com duplo comando de válvulas variável, que é acionado por correia dentada. Além disso, vem com injeção direta de combustível com tecnologia flex de pré-aquecimento na partida a frio.

Dentro da família SGE, ele é conhecido como LE2, incorporando o sistema de desligamento automático do motor (Start&Stop), utilizando ainda um turbocompressor MHI (Mitsubishi) com intercooler.

Tendo 1.399 cm3 e operando com taxa de compressão de 10:1, o 1.4 Ecotec Turbo entrega 150 cavalos com gasolina e 153 cavalos no etanol, ambos obtidos a 5.200 rpm.

Com 2.000 rpm, o Ecotec Turbo dispõe de 24,0 kgfm no derivado de petróleo e 24,5 kgfm no combustível vegetal. Além, disso, ele trabalha com a transmissão automática GF6-3 da GM, que tem conversor de torque.

Esta caixa tem seis velocidades, que podem ser trocadas manualmente na posição “M”, mas somente através de um botão na lateral do pomo da alavanca. Não há paddle shifts no Tracker 2019.

Em mercados próximos, o SUV compacto foi equipado com o motor 1.6 Ecotec de 115 cavalos do Sonic, assim como com o 1.8 Ecotec de 140 cavalos que foi usado no Cruze brasileiro. Ambos eram da Família I.

Teve ainda um raro 1.4 Ecotec Turbo de 140 cavalos, que era da Família 0. O Tracker teve ainda um diesel 1.7 de 130 cavalos e outro 1.6 com 136 cavalos.

Desempenho

Equipado com um motor bem potente, o Tracker 2019 tem um desempenho aceitável para sua proposta de SUV compacto, mas sem ter uma pegada esportiva. Tanto que o modelo nem tem paddle shifts no volante, por exemplo.

Com foco em um desempenho de sobra para poder mover com desenvoltura seus quase 1.300 kg, o SUV da Chevrolet focou em relações longas para aproveitar o torque abundante e assim consumir menos.

Mesmo assim, o Tracker 2019 vai de 0 a 100 km/h e tem velocidade máxima final de:

Consumo

Tentando reunir o melhor de dois mundos, o Tracker 2019 usou um motor pequeno, mas com turbo e injeção direta para obter uma boa potência e torque mais que suficiente em faixas planas de rotação, tornando-se bem elástico.

Com essa força toda em baixa, o 1.4 Ecotec Turbo só teve que lidar com o câmbio automático GF6-3, que inclusive foi mantido na nova geração. Tendo relações longas, ele permitiu ao Tracker fazer em cidade/estrada com gasolina e etanol:

Tracker 2019 – manutenção e revisão

O plano de manutenção da Chevrolet para o Tracker 2019 contempla revisões a cada 10.000 km ou 12 meses, o que vier primeiro. Com preços atualizados em junho de 2020, o SUV compacto da GM tem um custo de R$ 3.800 até 60.000 km.

Esse valor é quase R$ 800 mais alto se comparado com a nova geração do Tracker, que tem o custo para as mesmas revisões de apenas R$ 3.012. Ou seja, o novo modelo é mais eficiente até no pós-venda.

Ainda assim, o utilitário esportivo tem um custo aceitável para sua proposta e tecnologia embarcada, ainda mais por ser um produto importado do México, onde peças e componentes geralmente são cotados em dólar.

Outro detalhe interessante do plano de revisões do Tracker 2019 é que os valores de cada parada para manutenção preventiva, não exceto os R$ 1.000, custando até R$ 852, evitando assim saltos abruptos de preços entre as revisões.

Crazy Deals on New Cars, Trucks, and SUVs Beginning to Pop Up

In these strange times, some dealerships are closing all but their service bays as communities go into lockdown mode. But others are trying valiantly to continue business as usual. To entice buyers in this period of hunkering down, some crazy deals for new vehicles are emerging. And we suspect this is just the beginning.

When people start shopping again, there will be pent-up demand, but a lot of would-be buyers will also be under financial stress, especially if they lost income and are need to readjust their budgets. Forecasters are already predicting 2020 sales will be below 2019 levels, with some saying the percentage drop could reach double digits. But for those able and willing to do so, now could be a good time to buy a car.

Plenty of Cars Despite Plant Shutdowns

There might be limited supply of some popular vehicles but many dealerships are well stocked and should be able to weather short-term plant shutdowns being implemented by most automakers. Ford has a 96-day supply of vehicles, while the Lincoln brand has a 94-day supply, according to Edmunds. Dealers who sell General Motors brands were still building their inventories after a lengthy UAW strike last fall year, but stocks are healthy enough that dealers should be in good shape for a couple weeks, said GM spokesman Jim Cain. They were enjoying a strong start to the year and there are still vehicles in transit to dealer lots.

Deals are out there. On the national level, many companies are offering strong incentives such as low financing rates or deferred payments for as long as six months on a new vehicle.

“Zero percent interest for 84 months from GM is a bit crazy,” said Jessica Caldwell, executive director of insights at Edmunds. GM is also deferring the first payment for four months. The deal is reminiscent of the period after 9/11 in 2001 when GM introduced its Keep America Rolling program that offered 0 percent financing to help stimulate the economy. But even then, it was only for five years which pales in comparison to the current seven-year deal.

Everybody Is Deferring Payments

Many automakers are offering deferred payments. Ford just announced its new Built to Lend a Hand program where Ford Credit covers the first 90 days of payments and then defers the next three months for a six-month reprieve on all 2019 models, as well as 2020 models with the exception of Super Duty pickups.

FCA, Hyundai, Genesis, and Nissan are among other automakers offering deferred payments on new vehicles.

In addition to national programs, there are regional deals at any given time, and dealers can offer their own discounts, which often vary by region and model, but they are not allowed to sell a vehicle below the manufactured suggested retail price. Many customers come in with a monthly budget in mind and work with dealers to layer different programs, incentives, lease rates, cash-back offers and down payments to reach a deal. Some dealers are more aggressive than others.

Chevrolet Silverado for $53 a Month

For example, a Chevrolet dealer in Lancaster, California, has some astounding offers in place until March 31. For $61 a month you can get a two-year lease on a 2020 Trax LS with $999 down. Or lease a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox for $74 a month for two years with $1,995 down. Need a pickup? A 2020 Chevrolet Silverado with the less popular Custom Double Cab is available for $53 a month for 24 months with a $3,995 down payment. To get the more popular Crew Cab, it is $96 a month with $3,995 down.

There are caveats. These are strict two-year leases with 10,000-mile annual allowances. Buyers need a top credit rating, and some offers require they already own 2015 or newer GM product.

Some vehicles, like the Trax, have national incentives programs in place, as does the 2019 Silverado Double Cab, says Cain. GM has ongoing programs that offer deals to employees, those who already own a late-model GM product, and, occasionally, those who may be coming to GM from a competitor. Cain said none of the current deals are overly crazy from the corporate side. “There is not a fire sale going on. We see ultra-low deals [from dealers] all the time.”

Everyone has a different definition of a good deal. The Detroit Three automakers have a history of frequent and creative incentives, and Nissan and Mitsubishi have become more reliant on deals and fleet sales. Honda and Toyota have a reputation for not dealing or haggling. “You want it? Here’s the price,” those brands seem to say.

Prior to the current crisis, there were Nissan deals. You could get a 2019 Rogue Sport lease for as low as $209 a month, or it could be financed at 0 percent for 60 months and you could get as much as $4,000 cash back.

Some Deals More Conservative

Conversely, this is a fire sale of sorts for Toyota: a dealership in Clinton, Tennessee, has a sale through the end of March on select models. You can get deals on certain trim levels of the 2020 Camry, Tacoma, and Corolla, and 2020 or 2019 RAV4. The Camry deal offers a choice of 2.9 percent financing for 60 months or $1,250 in customer cash. The Camry LE has a lease offer of $239 per month for 36 months with $2,999 due at signing. A Tacoma TRD Pro can be had for 1.9 percent financing for 60 months or with $1,500 cash back. The SR 4×4 Double Cab can be leased for $199 per month for 36 months with $2,999 down.

Honda is another company that eschews incentives. It was among the last of the automakers to announce new actions during the crisis. Honda is offering $500 toward the purchase or lease of an Acura through its Loyalty Purchase Assistance Cash program and $1,000 towards the purchase or lease of a new Honda model, with some exclusions. The first payment is deferred for 90 days in all states but Florida.

Caldwell said incentive programs tend to be introduced at the start of the month or quarter, not usually mid-month. She expects more deals to surface in the weeks or months ahead when lockdowns and quarantines are lifted and people are free to move around again and the economy roars back. There will be those who need to return their leased vehicles and consumers could have government stimulus money in their pockets to put towards a new car. Caldwell would not be surprised to see the government encourage stimulus deals, much as it relied on GM and the rest of the industry during the Keep America Rolling program in 2001 to kickstart the economy. It worked in 2001: By October, the annual selling rate in the U.S. had soared to 21 million.
