The visual changes on the 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport are concentrated on the front end. They both feature a pair of larger headlights connected by an LED bar above the illuminated VW emblem (standard on all models except the base trims), with the outer shape of the clusters sending some Ford Expedition vibes. These new lighting units, along with the enlarged grille and interconnected bumper intakes, distinguish the US-spec SUVs from the related Chinese VW Terramont and Terramont X.

the VW Atlas Peak wants to be a little more engaging
Manufactured in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA factory. The Atlas is the largest vehicle produced on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, at 5.03 meters long and 1.96 meters wide. It is marketed as Volkswagen Teramont in the Middle East, China, Mexico, Russia, and China, where production in Ningbo began in 2017. In October 2019, the manufacturer presented the four-door coupé version which carried…

After years of slow sales, Volkswagen is finally killing off the Touareg for the US market. Despite the ever-growing popularity of SUVs and crossovers, the Touareg never quite made a mark in America. Sales of the near-luxury SUV were down 26 percent in the first half of 2017, with just 1,630 units rolling off dealer lots. There's no one reason for the decline in sales, but the premium price tag cannot have helped.

[link] : 2022 Volkswagen Atlas

TOP 20: THE BEST VEHICLES FOR THE FAMILY IN 2020 ACCORDING TO PARENTS MAGAZINE
Once again this year, Parents magazine gets wet by naming its best choices of vehicles for the family. Unlike last year, however, the publication is expanding its list of recommended vehicles to 20 (instead of 10 in 2019). Indeed, the magazine’s list this year includes a few additional categories, with the utility segment making up the majority of the models listed, unsurprisingly.
The magazine also considered the safety assessments carried out by the American institute NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). What’s more, the ‘family’ angle of the top 20 requires a test with child seat expert Abbie Patterson. Patterson, owner of the Super Car Seat Geek company, has tested all types of child booster seats in more than 50 car models.
Finally, automotive columnist Rob Stumpf, took the wheel of the vehicles in the child seat test to evaluate braking, steering, acceleration and a host of other parameters.
Without further ado, here’s the list of the 20 best family vehicles for 2020 according to Parents magazine.
Minivans – Best Value: Kia Sedona
In the minivan segment, Kia Sedona takes home the honours with the best value for money because of its more affordable price in its basic livery. However, the magazine notes that it is not possible to secure three child seats in the second row in the least expensive model. The automatic transmission (from 6 to 8 gears since the 2019 model year) is good for smooth shifting.
Minivans – Best Green Choice: Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
Chrysler’s representative in the ultra-family minivan segment is currently the only option (in the North American market) marketed with a charging cable. This rechargeable hybrid powertrain lowers average fuel consumption without penalizing performance, while the government rebate is not to be ignored here either. The Pacifica Hybrid will have to watch its back, as we already know that the next Toyota Sienna will be available with a hybrid powertrain.
Minivans – Best choice for large families: Honda Odyssey
Honda’s Odyssey is also an excellent choice, especially since the manufacturer has decided to offer its 10-speed automatic transmission on all trim levels. As reported in the magazine, the versatility of the Odyssey is unparalleled, as the minivan can accommodate up to six child seats at the same time. It’s also the most fun to drive.
Minivans – Best in all weather conditions: Toyota Sienna
Toyota’s Sienna retains its competitive edge once again this year with its optional all-wheel drive system. This increased traction is undoubtedly an asset when road conditions are more difficult, as is its powerful V6 engine, but the Sienna will have to count the Chrysler Pacifica among its direct rivals next year, the American manufacturer having already confirmed the arrival of a four-wheel drive version of its Pacifica.
Three-row SUV – Best Value: Volkswagen Atlas
When the German automaker launched the development of its three-row SUV, it clearly had North America as its target. The magazine was especially seduced by the affordable price of the SUV in its most accessible version.
Three-row SUV – Better Redesign: Toyota Highlander
The change of model for 2020 does him the greatest good, the former Highlander which had been in service since model year 2014. While the publication praises the new design, it’s also in terms of handling that the Toyota representative has improved, especially in terms of suspension. There’s also the availability of a hybrid version, which isn’t widely available in this group.
Three-row SUV – Best Choice for Large Families: Subaru Ascent
The Subaru Ascent joined the three-row seating party for SUVs about a year ago. Here, the fact that all the vehicle’s liveries are equipped with constant-drive all-wheel drive is meant to be an advantage over the rest of the pack, while the publication pointed out that there are 19 (!) cup holders on board.
Three-row SUV – Best Quiet Ride: Honda Pilot
The Honda Pilot looks almost Acura inside, not only because of its full equipment, but also because of its quiet ride. In fact, the Parents magazine article even goes so far as to compare the Pilot to the Honda Odyssey because the SUV is so comfortable. Unlike the minivan, however, the Pilot still offers the tandem of six- and nine-speed automatic transmissions. In this case, the older of the two (the six-speed one) isn’t necessarily a bad choice!
Three-row SUV – Best safety technologies: Nissan Pathfinder
Aging, the Nissan Pathfinder still seems capable of seducing a publication that mainly observes a vehicle’s family characteristics. Here, the safety systems are convincing, as is that horn blast heard after every drive where one of the rear doors has been opened before or while driving. This device reminds the driver that he or she may have a child – or even a pet – strapped to the rear.
Three-row SUV – Best Design: Mazda CX-9
Mazda is certainly not a brand with countless financial resources, but on the other hand, the design of the most recent seasons seems to appeal to the general public. In fact, despite its introduction in 2017, Mazda’s largest SUV has not aged a single wrinkle. The CX-9’s driving pleasure should not be forgotten either.
Two-row SUV – Best Quiet Ride: Buick Envision
The three-shield division has long been associated with the silence of its interior. The Buick Envision, assembled in China, is no exception to this rule thanks to the noise reduction system.
Parents magazine mentions the excellence of the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, but this mill is reserved for the more upscale versions. In the other trim levels, the driver has to deal with a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine and a six-speed transmission only.
Two-row SUV – Best steering system: Chevrolet Equinox
It’s true that the Chevrolet Equinox comes with a reputation for being poorly assembled and less durable than average. But since its redesign for the 2018 model year, the compact SUV does much better in terms of driving experience, and even overall quality. Parents magazine found the Chevrolet’s steering to be particularly precise, while its powertrain is powerful enough.
Two-row SUV – Better space for child seats: Ford Edge
When it comes to space for child seats, the Ford Edge is second to none, according to the publication. This allows for three seats, a rarity in the two-row SUV segment. The Ford Edge is also one of the most comfortable.
Two-Row SUV – Best Redesign : GMC Terrain
Best redesign award for two-row SUVs goes… drum roll – at GMC Terrain! Oddly enough, the redesign was completed for the 2018 model year at the same time as the Chevrolet Equinox, but hey, it’s the magazine’s choice! The article also mentions the more comfortable suspension on the Denali model.
Two-Row SUV – Best Green Choice: Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
Two-Row SUV – Best choice for long trips: Subaru Forester
The Subaru manufacturer is often named on this list by Parents magazine. The Forester would be the ideal vehicle for expeditions, thanks to its standard all-wheel drive, roof rack and exemplary comfort. You could even add that the Forester’s fuel consumption has been very good for the past few years, a fact made possible by the adoption of a continuously variable transmission.
Sedans – Best Value for a Hybrid: Honda Accord Hybrid
In the arguments listed by Parents magazine, the Honda Accord Hybrid sedan doesn’t cost much more than the regular model, while trunk space is no longer handicapped by a battery stowed behind the rear seat. The Accord Hybrid is also not an unpleasant car to drive.
Sedans – Best in all weather conditions: Subaru Legacy
The manufacturer has made it its hobbyhorse: four-wheel drive guarantees superior traction in winter. The Nissan Altima has joined the Legacy’s direct rivals with an AWD system, but it’s not a permanent type like Subaru’s.
The redesign for 2020 has certainly helped in this case, the sedan can now be ordered with a more energetic 4-cylinder turbocharged flatbed engine.
Sedans – Best sports car: Nissan Maxima
This was its angle of attack when it was redesigned for the 1989 model year in North America. The Four Door Sports Car still stands out from its peers today because of its relatively dynamic driving dynamics. However, Toyota’s effort is worth mentioning with its Avalon XSE, a large sedan that is surprisingly fun to drive. In the United States, there’s also a TRD livery!
Sedans – Best Hybrid Sports Car: Toyota Camry Hybrid
Still, it’s surprising to see that the hybrid versions are now the sportiest in Toyota’s lineup. Even the Camry is no exception to this rule. The manufacturer continues to offer a V6 engine for the more conservative among us, but we have to admit that the hybrid leaning of the mid-size sedan is at least worth a try.

Toyota Tops, FCA and GM Flop in Consumer Reports 2017 Reliability Survey
Consumer Reports released its annual reliability survey at an Automotive Press Association luncheon in Detroit this afternoon. As in years past, the narrative is shockingly familiar. Per usual, Toyota and Lexus are, respectively, in first and second place, with the best projected reliability in the business. Meanwhile, several GM and FCA brands languish at the bottom, a disappointing finish for Detroit. A continuing trend, infotainment systems and advanced transmissions are still causing plenty of headaches for automakers. But despite these well-publicized issues, there are more than a few interesting tidbits to glean from this. A Method to the Madness The Annual Auto Reliability Survey draws on information from Consumer Reports subscribers. Between the years 2000 and 2017, they’ve purchased or leased in excess of 640,000 vehicles, a figure that includes more than 300 different nameplates. This gives the organization a veritable mountain of information to base its projections on. “We’re talking about things gone wrong,” explained Jake Fisher, director of auto testing at Consumer Reports. This survey does not cover usability issues like distracting infotainment systems, uncomfortable seats or problems per 100 vehicles. “To us, that doesn’t make a lot of sense.” The independent watchdog group has made predictions for all major vehicles that are on sale today, even ones that launched recently. “The Atlas is a new vehicle from Volkswagen,” noted Fisher. “Their record for introducing vehicles has been below average,” which is part of the reason why this fresh-faced three-row crossover is projected to have below-average reliability. SEE ALSO: Is J.D. Power IQS Just a Bunch of BS? Similarly, Consumer Reports predicts the new Tesla Model 3 will better that, earning an average reliability rating. Despite having no specific data for it, they’re basing this claim on the performance of the Tesla Model S sedan, which, despite having early issues, is now rated above average. The two cars share much of the same technology. Michael Karesh, developer of TrueDelta.com, a rival vehicle-quality rating service said there were “no surprises in what [Consumer Reports] presented,” with one exception: the Tesla Model S’s rating. “It’s never been as good in my stats as it has been in theirs, and that continues to be a difference.” Surprising Results Toyota and Lexus dominating a reliability study is like the United States beating all other countries in deficit spending; it’s kind of a given. But nipping on their heels is Kia, which landed in third place, a first for the brand. Fisher noted this is likely because Hyundai, its corporate sibling, introduces new models and technologies first. This gives them a chance to iron out any kinks before sharing with Kia. But perhaps the biggest news is Chrysler’s performance. It jumped 10 spots to 17th place. “I was pleasantly surprised by the Pacifica,” said Fisher, which is projected to have average reliability. “We didn’t expect the car out of the gate, a new platform from Chrysler that would be average. I was surprised and kind of excited for them,” he added. To be fair, the Chrysler brand only offers two vehicles, but still, Fisher attributes this striking improvement to a new product-development process. “You look at what they’ve done before [it’s] like, ‘OK, here’s this Fiat, turn it into a Chrysler 200. [Here are these] old Mercedes parts – that weren’t reliable to start with – make your Chrysler 300.’” Now they’ve started with a clean sheet and did it right. Given the Pacifica’s strong first-year performance, it’s likely this nameplate will continue to improve in coming years. “It’s good to know that they have that capability,” Fisher added. Jeep has made some incremental improvements, finally addressing issues with the Cherokee’s recalcitrant nine-speed automatic transmission, though its Renegade and Grand Cherokee models are still projected to have below-average reliability. Surprisingly, Acura tumbled seven positions, landing in 19th place. Since it’s Japanese and part of Honda, “[People think] it must be reliable,” said Fisher. “No, no, not at all.” It’s a similar story at Mazda, which dropped six spots to 12th. Its CX-9 utility vehicle has been especially problem prone. Same Old, Same Old Of course, it’s business as usual for other automakers. Ford, for instance, has finally addressed the infotainment woes that have torpedoed its quality rankings for years but it’s still being dragged down by the unreliable dual-clutch automatic transmission found in the Focus and Fiesta. Problems with these nameplates are a hurting the entire brand. European OEMs remained relatively stable. Audi once again landed in fourth place, while all of BMW’s offerings have average or better reliability. The redesigned Mercedes-Benz E-Class also offers better-than-average reliability after its first year on the market. But bucking this trend is a certain Swedish firm. The Volvo XC90 crossover is the third-least reliable model in this survey. Finishing just ahead of the Tesla Model X and the Cadillac Escalade, which tied for last place. “[They have] so much equipment, so many gadgets, so much to go wrong,” said Fisher. Volvo, Dodge, Ram, GMC, and Cadillac are the five least reliable brands, but on the flipside, the Kia Niro hybrid crossover had the fewest problems. The overall theme of this year’s reliability survey is steady as she goes. The number of reported issues has remained relatively stable, but Fisher said, “The nature of the problems are changing.” Drivers are facing fewer rust, suspension and engine woes, but transmission and infotainment glitches remain top concerns. The post Toyota Tops, FCA and GM Flop in Consumer Reports 2017 Reliability Survey appeared first on AutoGuide.com News.

Basta examinar as estatísticas.

PROCURA por elétricos vem crescendo no Hemisfério Norte, porém abaixo do esperado.

Preços: R$ 494.990 a 531.990.

VW Cuts 2 Years off its Warranty, Adds 2 Years of Free Maintenance
Volkswagen is ditching its industry-leading 6-year/72,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, reports Automotive News. The automaker is dropping coverage to 4 years/50,000 miles, but to sweeten the pot, it’s adding two years of free, factory-covered maintenance. The new program begins on 2020 model-year vehicles.
Established in 2017, the original six-year warranty plan helped VW stand out from the crowd when it was reinventing itself after dieselgate and launching the new Atlas crossover. While it was intended to bring back consumer confidence in the brand at a critical time, the warranty was never a big deciding factor for buyers. “More than half our Atlas customers became aware of it in the dealership,” said Duncan Movassaghi, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Volkswagen brand’s North American region.
Instead of an extra two years of warranty coverage, VW customers will benefit more up front with free oil changes for the first two years. That means lease customers are getting a better deal. VW also hopes free maintenance will drive in customers who cite cost of ownership as a major purchasing factor, Movassaghi told AN.
VW wants to help out its dealers, who according to NADA surveys and surveys from buy/sell agents, have some of the lowest profit margins among mass-market brands. A new advertising program will pay dealers up to $200 per vehicle to help them “develop their local markets.”
VW’s warranty remains competitive, but it’s no longer at the top of its game. Ford, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota all offer 3-year/36,000-mile warranties, but Hyundai and Kia provide coverage for 5 years/60,000 miles.

Years ago, adopted automakers disrupted the U.S. auto industry with their fuel-sipping baby cars – a class of cartage that American car companies had continued neglected.
That affected American automakers General Motors, Ford Motor and Chrysler to comedy catch-up.
That’s age-old history.
These days, foreign automakers – namely the above Japanese, Korean and German car companies – are rushing to accomplish up for absent time adjoin the Americans by introducing SUVs and crossovers as U.S. preferences shift back to beyond vehicles.
An ballsy slump for passenger cars forced companies such as Toyota, Honda, Volkswagen, Kia and Hyundai into a aeon of body analytic that has culminated in a bright axis against bigger rides.
Passenger-car sales accept plunged 12 percent in the aboriginal 10 months of 2018 and represent alone 32 percent of absolute cartage awash in the U.S., according to Kelley Blue Book.
That’s bottomward from 44 percent in 2015 and 51 percent in 2012, according to Autodata Corp.
So adopted automakers accept little best but to change.
“We’re seeing the bazaar shifting,” IHS Markit auto analyst Stephanie Brinley said. “They need to body the cartage bodies appetite to buy.”
Take Toyota, for example. Once accepted abundantly for its athletic commuter sedans – such as the Camry, Corolla and Prius – the aggregation is now capitalizing on the trend abroad from those types of models.
About 63 percent of Toyota U.S. cartage awash in the aboriginal 10 months of 2018 were SUVs, crossovers or pickups, compared with 42 percent in the aforementioned aeon of 2012.

At Los Angeles Auto Appearance columnist previews this week, the trend will continue:
• Honda is accepted to acquaint a SUV alleged the Passport.
• Hyundai is accepted to acquaint a flagship ample SUV alleged the Palisade.
•BMW will appearance off its new X7 SUV.
It’s a advantageous trend. For example, the boilerplate amount of a new, nonluxury bunched SUV in October was $28,700, compared with $20,408 for the boilerplate bunched car, according to Kelley Blue Book.

The Honda Passport reflects a austere comedy by the Japanese automaker to allure barter as its sales of passenger cars fall. Sales of the company’s alarmingly acclaimed Accord and Civic sedans accept collectively slid 12.8 percent so far this year, in allotment because the cast has banned to allow in abundant discounting or sales to rental-car companies for use in their fleets.
Overall, Honda’s car sales accept beneath 14.5 percent, while its sales of crossovers, SUVs and pickups accept added 6.5 percent.
The two-row Passport is beyond than the accepted Honda CR-V but abate than the three-row Honda Pilot, which has been baking in the showroom.
“I like this a lot,” Kelley Blue Book analyst Rebecca Lindland said of the move to barrage the Passport. “Not anybody has three or four kids. Not anybody needs a agent the admeasurement of the Pilot, but some bodies appetite article bigger than the CR-V.”
The Passport will address to one of Honda’s best important customers – Generation X buyers who are “very family-oriented” and “very responsible,” Lindland said.
“Gen X has consistently been a actual SUV-oriented demographic. And Honda has consistently been one of the admired brands of that demographic,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai Palisade is accepted to attempt with the Pilot by appealing to ancestors buyers in charge of a reliable three-row SUV.
“The approaching Palisade SUV will back a adventurous exoteric that commands absorption and has able inherent adumbration of assurance and security, abnormally important with parents with growing families and alive lifestyles,” Hyundai said in a statement.

Hyundai capitalized on $4-a-gallon gasoline in 2008 as GM, Ford and Chrysler flailed while they lacked fuel-efficient baby cars. That’s back the Hyundai Elantra bunched auto and Sonata midsize car started to booty off.
But sales of those commuter cars accept cooled considerably. The eight-passenger Palisade reflects Hyundai’s advance correction. It’ll dwarf the Elantra and Sonata in size.
Similarly, German automotive cast Volkswagen has fabricated a cogent axis against SUVs and crossovers over the aftermost two years.
Long accepted for its baby cars, such as the Beetle and the Jetta, VW alien its own three-row SUV alleged the Atlas in 2017, and it has angry into one of the brand’s best important vehicles.
The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas sits on the exhibit attic at the company’s New York flagship abundance during a media examination for the New York International Auto Appearance in New York. Now, the Beetle is actuality discontinued, and VW has said it will abide its “SUV offensive” in the advancing years.
Even passenger-car admirers are alpha to amend their charge to their low-riding cartage as they get older.
“Frankly if you’re a customer and you’re in the marketplace, you’re seeing crossovers and SUVs everywhere,” IHS Markit analyst Tom Libby said. “So you’re activity to artlessly be curious.”
