2017-10-19 “I can’t wait until morning” Kubo Shiori Blog #26 [ENG]
Hello everyone, thank you for your continuous hard work. I’m Nogizaka46’s 3rd generation member, 1st year high school student, 16-year-old Kubo Shiori. It’s a pleasure to meet you.
Tumblr media
Middle parted hair with straight curls.
It’s cold but let’s stay enthusiastic!
The other day we concluded our run of the stage play “Migoroshi Hime” without any problems. Thank you so much to everyone that attended. Before I get into my various feelings on the play first there is something I would like to say.
Thank you to Matsumura-san for creating such a wonderful play and thank you to Fujiki-san, Katou-san, the three members of the ensemble and to the staff.
While I was acting on that stage I had genuine feelings of enjoyment.
When we first started practicing, I thought that we had to do this better than we did for Principle. When we started practicing, I thought that this may have been the most challenging thing I’ve done in my life.
I wanted to embody the character of Shione but I wasn’t able to and I couldn’t help but be frustrated. I was lacking in hard work. Before I knew it, I was pushing myself further and further into a corner and I caused trouble for a lot of people. I apologize deeply.
Honestly, leading up to the first performance I couldn’t help but feel scared, or rather I couldn’t help but feel scared ever since the stage play was announced. Compared to Principle this was much scarier. However, as we headed into the final performance from the bottom of my heart, I felt glad that I was able to stand and perform on the stage. I don’t think there is anything that can compare to the happiness of being able to be a part of this wonderful play and to be given my own character.
On a slightly more negative note, I think that what Shione wrote in her diary is very similar to me. Matsumura-san wrote the script with the actresses in mind and that’s why he entrusted me with the character of Shione. I want to embody this character. I want to demonstrate something only this character can.
Even though Shione is a character that doesn’t show how she feels she wants to convey something. There where times when I felt like it was difficult to act without emotions.  However, even when I think about it now, I love Shione almost as though she was the only roll for me.
On the final day the tears naturally flowed out. The appearance of everyone leaving overlapped with the circumstances that we could see around us. I’ll never forget encountering this work. I was able to face my weak self during this time and I wish I had changed even just a little.
I know this has become an endless jumble of sentence but I’m truly happy. Thank you very much.
Entering the final day of the stage play we have already plunged into the second half of October. Just like that I can already see images of November in my head and came to realize that Tokyo Dome is fast approaching.
The fact that we will be able to stand on such a grand stage is all thanks to the hard effort of the senior members. While keeping this in mind, it is thanks to the 3rd generation members and the senior members that we’re able do this performance. On top of that I want to tell and convey these feelings to the senior members while on that stage. Of course, I want to show these feelings to the fans as well.
I’ll work hard so that even though you’re far away I’ll do my best so that you can support me, I’ll use my head, body and my expressions. Please, if you do spot Kubo, please let her know. I’ll do my best.
I’ve always thought that on rainy days my heart also becomes shaped like the rain (´・_・`) but can’t you have fun on rainy days too. Therefore, I’ve made a menu for rainy days.
Because it’s rainy I’ll clean, because it rainy I’ll read, because it’s a rainy day I’ll listen to the outdoor noises. I’m thinking about the positives of rainy days. I do like the rain, and I like clear skies as well as clouds and snow.
Like the weather, I think it’ll be great to show off my different personalities. I’m not good with thunder. But just like thunder, I think it’ll be difficult for people to like all the different sides of me. But, if you think about many positives then I think your heart and soul will become like clear skies. I want to continue to shine on everyone forever.
 Next!
Midsummer National tour in Niigata, thank you very much! I went to Niigata once for the album campaign and so this is my second time in Niigata!! Niigata is a great place isn’t it (´・_・`) The food is delicious and I like the air. In the unit corner of the live concert, I performed “Oide Shampoo”
The six of us, Shiraishi-san, Takayama-san, Kitano-san, Ranze-san, Yoda-chan and me, did a mic performance. We were able to get really close to each other! Every time we did this together we were happy. Our smiles were bewitching. I want to do it again … (´・_・`) Thank you very much!!!
Going around the country to various places was our Midsummer National Tour. It was really fun. There’s a lot I want to talk about, but I think I want to talk about it once we’ve finished the Tokyo Dome live concert. Please wait a little bit longer.
Well then, moving on, I was able to do a SHOWROOM stream. Thank you very much.  Because of the stage play it’s been a while since I’ve been able to stream. I’m so happy (´・_・`) Even at the handshake events there are a lot of people who have said “I’ve been constantly waiting to watch your SHOWROOM,” and so I’ve been really wanting to do it and I’ve finally be able to do so. Even though it was at an awkward time I’m glad a lot of people were able to watch it!
Next time will be a stream of the highlights of the “Boku no Shoudou” MV. I don’t know when I’ll do it but I’d be glad if you came to check it out! I’ll be in your care!!!
Speaking of that! The answer for the quiz question I asked on the SHOWROOM stream.
Q: What did Shiraishi-san and I do during the harmony section of “Oide Shampoo” in the unit corner on the final performance in Niigata?
The correct answer is, we were having a wink battle with each other. Because Shiraishi-san was winking at me a lot I had to return the winks (´・_・`)♡
Every time she rubs my head and says “You’re so cute aren’t you” I secretly look forward to her head pats(´・_・`) thank you very much!!!
Well, recently I’ve started reading books. I haven’t read books since I was young and so I had the urge to read. It’s the Autumn of reading, isn’t it? I wonder why? Right now, I want to sit still on the windowsill and read a book.
Tumblr media
Yoda.
I listened to Yoda’s enjoyable talk about Singapore almost like I had the confidence to say that I’m the most excited person for her photobook (´・_・`) I’m really excited〜☺︎
By the way, today I had the strong desire to talk to someone. I’m glad that someone was there that I could talk to. Sometimes when I ask, I want to cry.
Please let me make some announcements.
·         October 30th Gekkan Entertainment-san
On our way to the final performance this was the first time that I got talk about the stage play for an article. It’s Den, Hazuki and me. This brought up many memories. I think I’ll be happy to continue to talk about this stage play in the future. Please make sure to read it! Thank you very much.
☆    October 22nd Nobinobi Nogizaka 3rd generation members!!
All the members did a house party! During the recording it felt like we were all in the dressing room and we were acting very naturally. I think you’ll be able to see how the 3rd generation members normally act. ☺︎
Next! The 3rd generation members have been asked to participate in an event! October 22nd T-Spook. Costumes! In Costumes! It’s very important so I had to say it twice ☺︎ Those that know these words will know. Honestly, everyone is looking forward to it. ☺︎ I myself and greatly looking forward to it!! I'm too excited, please take care of me!!
Furthermore, the Nogizaka46 Calendar is on sale!
There are:
Wall mounted Calendar (Type A, B)
Individual desktop Calendars
By the way I’m in the Type A wall mounted calendar ☺︎
Pre-orders have started so please make sure to check them out!
The other day Marika-san’s solo exhibition opened. From when I entered until I left my jaw was wide open. I really love Marika-san’s view of the world. All the videos and pictures, the only word I can say is ‘amazing’. It was really wonderful; I feel that even now I can picture the things I saw during the exhibition right before my very eyes. Thank you very much.
We’re currently right in the midst of the Under Live in Kyushu! I wanted to go see them (´・_・`) On the day of one of our stage performances it was the first day of the Under Live and to tell you the truth I brought my Tohoku Under Live towel with me. That day I faced the stage play with the feeling that we will both be doing our best (´・_・`)
The Under Live is the first time I got to see Nogizaka46. I love it.
To all the senior members performing in tomorrow’s final concert, do you best! I’ve said it many times already, but I’ll say it again, thank you for giving me the inspiration and for giving me a dream. The Under Album will be released on the 10th of January next year. It is full of a lot of my favorite songs… (´・_・`) I’m looking forward to it ☺︎
The other day I received a fan letter. Thank you very much. Even though I like to write letters I also like to read them. When I saw the envelope I thought, “Is this maybe…” as I opened it. The envelope and the paper were very particular, and they wrote many many pages. I’m overjoyed. There are a lot of letters that haven’t arrived yet, but I’ll make sure to read them once I receive them.
As I thought I like to write down letters. Once you write it, it won’t disappear. On a cell phone and in your memories, there is a chance that they’ll disappear but with letters they won’t. I can feel happy about the fact that I can leave the fact that I’m here right now in print. Thank you very much everyone.
Tumblr media
Momoppi at the end. I like like like Momoppi. It would be nice if those feelings could reach her.
Finally, they said that snow would fall. Snow. My favorite season has arrived. The Christmas songs I’ve been listening to since Summer have slowly started to increase. I think I’ll listen to Christmas songs while sleeping the evening.
Music is beautiful isn’t it, why does listening to it sooth the mind and soul. It would be great if the songs I sing now will also have the power to heal and relax.
Good night, please have a good rest.
 I’ll write again soon.
Kubo Shiori.
I’m the type of person that thinks carefully before they act. Ever since I was small, I’ve always lived with the idea that this was a good thing, but I feel like something isn’t right. For those who think too much they can’t cross over the border to something else and changing is scary.
I continue to say over and over again that I want to change but honestly changing oneself is scary. Changing my current circumstances. Changing the person that is me. I don’t know if I’ll fall on the good or the bad side, it’s always scary jumping into a world without any guarantees.
Still, I think I’m happy right now. Of course, I’m happy and there are a lot of enjoyable things in my life, but I’ve never wished for more than that. I want to try crossing the border in order to meet what’s ahead of me.
Even though I’m worried about doing it alone I want to try. I want to see a scenery I’ve never seen before. Whatever the result is, it’ll be good.
 Shiori is heading off.

Richard Quinn
Tumblr media
📷
Raised in South East London, Quinn received a Fashion, MA Central Saint Martins and established his label in 2016. Specialising in womenswear and textiles, he has been praised for his bold use of colour and print, which he produces in his Peckham studio. In 2016 his graduate collection won the H&M Design Award, and he developed pieces from his winning collection that were later sold in selected H&M stores in autumn 2017. The collection proved a hit selling out in store and online. In April 2017 he was named as the British Fashion Council's NEWGEN one-to-watch and was awarded exhibition space in the LFW Designer Showrooms.
I've chosen to research into Richard Quinn because his style of fashion is very unique, creative, quirky and inspiring. his use of colour and patterns especially this runway which links closely to botanicals was amazing. i love how abstract his work is, the way he uses black a-lot in his pieces to help contrast and bring out the patterns in more colour and detail.which i find inspiring and will added into my own work because i love the effect it gives.

Sharp Expands Interactive Line of Touch Screen Displays
Expansion to AQUOS BOARD Interactive Display Series Creates Largest Product Line for Sharp
Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC), announced the expansion of its award-winning AQUOS BOARD interactive display line, aimed at making meetings in smaller spaces more conducive and effective.
The new 50″ Class (49.5″ diagonal) PN-L501C AQUOS BOARD interactive display system is ideal for the increasingly popular “huddle space” meetings and can help users optimise communication in these compact areas.
At 100 nits brighter than the PN-L401C model released last year, it also features a 25% larger diagonal inch measurement and has a 56% larger area than the previous model.
The PN-L401C/501C product line has 10-point multi-touch functionality and high-sensitivity capacitive touch technology that provides precise and smooth operation, enhancing the interactive information experience.
Both displays share features with other models in the award-winning AQUOS BOARD interactive display line, including the brand’s Pen-on-Paper user experience, which resists fingerprints and scratches, as well as providing an anti-glare surface.
In addition, the brand’s 2mm-tip touch pen is ideal for writing fine lines and text onscreen. It also offers Full HD (1,920 × 1,080-pixel) resolution and advanced connectivity.
“We are pleased to add the PN-L501C to the AQUOS BOARD interactive display family, making it our most expansive AQUOS BOARD interactive display product line to date.
“These displays are not only powerful meeting tools for corporate and academic environments, but they can also be used to engage and inform people in stores, museums, showrooms and other public spaces,” said Gary Bailer, Director of Product Planning and Marketing for Pro AV Products at Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America.
Last year, the brand unveiled its consumer-ready 8K-compatible televisions and monitors, the AQUOS 8K series, scheduled for release in China, Japan, Taiwan, and Europe between Autumn 2017 and Spring 2018.

BAGHDAD: Stuck between an endless waitlist for a government job and a frail private sector, Iraqi entrepreneurs are taking on staggering unemployment by establishing their own start-ups.
The first murmurs of this creative spirit were felt in 2013, but the Islamic State group’s sweep across a third of the country the following year put many projects on hold.
Now, with IS defeated, co-working spaces and incubators are flourishing in a country whose unemployment rate hovers around 10 percent but whose public sector is too bloated to hire.
Many self-starters begin their journey at an aptly named glass building in central Baghdad: The Station.
There, they sip on coffee, peruse floor-to-ceiling bookshelves for ideas and grab a seat at clusters of desks where other stylish Iraqis click away at their laptops.
“We’re trying to create a new generation with a different state of mind,” said executive director Haidar Hamzoz.
“We want to tell youth that they can start their own project, achieve their dreams and not just be happy in a government job they didn’t even want,” he told AFP.
Youth make up around 60 percent of Iraq’s nearly 40 million people.
After graduating from university, many spend years waiting to be appointed to a job in the government, Iraq’s biggest employer.
Four out of five jobs created in Iraq in recent years are in the public sector, according to the World Bank.
And in its 2019 budget, the government proposed $52 billion in salaries, pensions, and social security for its workers — a 15 percent jump from 2018 and more than half the total budget.
But with graduates entering the workforce faster than jobs are created, many still wait indefinitely for work.
Among youth, 17 percent of men and a whopping 27 percent of women are unemployed, the World Bank says.
 After IS, innovation reigns
When IS declared Mosul its seat of power in Iraq back in 2014, resident Saleh Mahmud was forced to shutter the city’s incubator for would-be entrepreneurs.
With Mosul now cautiously rebuilding after the jihadists were ousted in 2017, Mahmud is back in business.
“Around 600-700 youth have already passed by Mosul Space” to attend a seminar or seek out resources as they start their own ventures, said the 23-year-old.
He was inspired after watching fellow Mosul University graduates hopelessly “try to hunt down a connection to get a job in the public sphere.”
“A university education isn’t something that gets you a fulfilling job,” he said.
Another start-up, Dakkakena, is capitalising on Mosul’s rebuilding spirit, too.
The online shopping service delivers a lorry-full of home goods every day to at least a dozen families refurnishing after the war.
“On the web, we can sell things for cheaper than stores because we have fewer costs, like no showrooms,” said founder Yussef al-Noaime, 27.
Noaime fled IS to the Netherlands, where he was introduced to e-commerce. When he returned home, the computer engineer partnered with another local to found their venture.
A similar service, Miswag, was set-up in the capital Baghdad in 2014 and last year reported hundreds of thousands of dollars in profits.
 Banks and big dreams
On an autumn day, some 70 young Iraqi innovators converged for a three-day workshop in Baghdad on founding start-ups.
They flitted among round tables planning projects, their Arabic conversations sprinkled with English terms.
“What we’re doing is showing youth what entrepreneurship is — not necessarily so they succeed, but so they at least try,” said organiser Ibrahim al-Zarari.
He said attendees should understand two things: first, that the public sector is saturated. And second, that oil isn’t the only resource on which Iraq — OPEC’s second-largest producer — should capitalise.
More than 65 percent of Iraq’s GDP and nearly 90 percent of state revenues hail from the oil sector. Many youth turn to it for work, but it only employs one percent of the workforce.
Widespread corruption and bureaucracy also weaken Iraq’s appeal for private investors. The World Bank ranks it 168th out of 190 for states with a good business environment.
Under current legislation, private sector employees are not offered the same labour protections or social benefits as those in the public sector.
And Iraq’s stuttering banking industry appears too cautious to dive in, said Tamara Raad, 26, who researches start-ups.
“The banks have a role to play. They must make loans without interest and help young entrepreneurs,” she said.
Banks or no banks, Mahmud in Mosul is already planning how he’ll grow his business in 2019.
“We will open a new, larger space for new gatherings,” he said excitedly, to bring together returning designers, developers and other inventors.

THE 10 MOST POPULAR POSTS OF 2018
It’s that time of year again. While Christmas preparations are in full swing for most, there’s still time to reflect on the year that’s almost coming to a close. I’m doing it early this year. Maybe because my festive period will be a bit less fraught than some (Christmas day with my sister and her family, and a pledge to not go mad with presents!), and a slowing down of the online audience for obvious reasons. So, here are the most popular posts of 2018. It’s worth saying though, that these are the posts that I published in 2018, and not the most popular posts overall. Some of the most popular overall were published before 2018 and some many years before. Which just goes to show that interiors don’t move as fast as some think. What was being researched and searched for in 2016 and even prior to that, is still as relevant today.
1.Kitchen Trends That Will Never Go Out of Style
When I first started to research this topic I was going to write about ‘new’ kitchen trends for 2018. An up-to-date account of what products and finishes are going to take the interiors market by storm this year purely from a decorative point of view. But the more I looked, the more apparent it became that when it comes to kitchens, style is much more important than keeping up with current trends. A complete kitchen refurb is costly, so taking risks with colours and finishes that you may tire of in a few years is not advisable. And if you plan on selling at some point it’s important that you have a kitchen that is not going to put off the potential buyers. Having said that, there is still a lot of scope for creating an on-trend kitchen with bags of style and personality that you will continue to love for years to come….read more.
2.Green is the Colour for Autumn and Winter at M&S
As if we need more proof that green is the colour for the coming seasons, Marks and Spencer have used the most sumptuous shade as a backdrop to some of their Autumn/Winter homewares. If you’re wondering what shade of green it is exactly, it looks very much like Three Farm Green as featured in my recent post on green paint shades. But let’s not get distracted, because there’s much more to love here. That duvet set definitely has my name on it. Wouldn’t it look good in my bedroom? And the real stars of the show?! All those lovely faux plants. Oversized (so much more impactful in a room), and in their own belly baskets too…read more.
3.Fifty (Well Almost) Shades of Green Paint
In fact there are 31 beautiful green paint shades in the Little Greene recent collaboration with the National Trust. A collaboration that is a result of an extensive paint research project that has been undertaken in National Trust houses and gardens throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In fact a quest to find original colours, and to tell the stories of the people who first enjoyed them. Wouldn’t I have liked to have been involved in that! Next time guys!! Inspiration was drawn from sources as diverse as Beatrix Potter’s Cumbrian farmhouse, George Bernard Shaw’s revolving writing hut and even mythical birds featured on the wallpaper hung by Chippendale at Nostell Priory. And the result is a new colourcard featuring some intriguing stories, and a gamut of glorious greens in a comprehensive array of hues…read more.
4.New in Store – Tropical Brights from H&M Home
Continuing my obsessional pursuit of checking out what’s ‘new in’ on my favourite homewares websites. H & M Home. This is one store that I can’t pass by on the high street either. They are always spot-on with the latest trends and their prices are always so reasonable I can’t help filling the basket (virtual or all too real) every time I visit. And this Spring is no exception. They have added a few new colours to their ranges that almost make up for the lack of Spring weather. Pink and yellow. Together! How can you not feel happy when you see them. There’s still that ever-popular tropical vibe going on, but in hot new colours. Leave the green to the house plants and indulge in some hot-house hues on the soft furnishings instead…read more.
5.The Latest Stunner in a Regency London Townhouse from DeVOL Kitchens
Just when you think deVOL cannot possibly top their last kitchen design revealed to the world, they just go right ahead and do it again. I’m not going to apologise for sharing yet another example of their exquisite workmanship. This kitchen just has to be seen if only for its stunning colour combination. In fact the designers at first wondered how the Sebastian Cox range would fit into a Regency London townhouse with such an abundance of period details. This historic showroom needed to be decorated with style and care as befitting its original features. And the Sebastian Fox range after all is, shall we say, more artisan and rustic, and a tad minimalist in style…read more.
6.Introducing Muurmeesters – Dutch Masterpieces for Your Walls
Muurmeesters is a Dutch company that prints (old) masterpieces, particularly in over-sized formats, on high quality fabric. And I think they are stunning. Great for creating impact in any room in the house, and I’m thinking one (or two, or three) would look stunning in my newly painted stairway. I do love a feature wall of different art in different frames, but I’d much prefer to have one big stand-out piece myself. I’ll have to start saving the pennies. I just can’t decide between a portrait, a still life or a landscape…read more.
7.10 of the Best Hanging Garden Swing Seats
Well, the sun truly had his hat on at the weekend. And now that summer is finally here and there is another Bank Holiday weekend looming, don’t you think it’s time you sorted out the garden seating? Not just any old seating. But the decadent ‘I’m all right jack’ sort of seating. There’s something truly indulgent about investing in a garden seat that SWINGS! Pure bohemian chic. Kinda ‘lets pretend we have a party pad in Ibiza’ sort of thing. Because is there anything nicer than cocooning in a comfortable, slightly swaying armchair in the garden? One that is so deeply padded that it will be impossible to stay awake. A gentle breeze, the rustling of leaves in the tree above, and the sweet scent of newly cut grass…read more.
8.New Wall Tile Trends That Are Anything But Utilitarian
Much as I still love the plain white metro (underground, subway, whatever you like to call it) tile, it has become a bit too commonplace. Still popular with clients, but if you’re looking for something a bit more decorative and non-utilitarian you’ve come to the right place. While I was researching new wall tile trends recently, I started to notice that finishes are starting to become a whole lot more glamorous. Deeper colours are creeping in, tile shapes are more striking, and there’s a definite luxurious aesthetic for those who are confident and bold enough to use them. In fact, many of the tiles I’ve been looking at could be used in any room in the house, not just the kitchen and bathroom…read more.
9.Bed and Breakfast in a Converted Belgium Bunker Anyone?
This impressive building was originally a fort for Belgian soldiers in the late 1700’s, but has been completely transformed by a Belgian family into a beautiful B & B. ’The Bunkers’ as the property is aptly named, was then rebuilt in concrete on the brink of 1st world war and during the 2nd world war, bricks were added to the concrete construction. Today, the brickwork appears in an eye-catching pattern of red and yellow colours…read more.
10.The Growing Popularity of the Half Painted Wall
Have you noticed the trend? Two-tone walls with a crisp dividing line. Not to be mistaken for the two-tone walls divided by a dado rail. Nothing wrong with those of course, (in a period home) but not the same thing at all. The two-tone walls I’m referring to are much, much sharper. Much more contemporary, and much more popular than you might imagine. Having tackled this effect myself in the bedroom at home, I can honestly say it’s easier to achieve than you might think. You need frog tape of course and nerves of steel when the time comes to peel it off. But the finished effect is more than worth the effort of measuring, taping, and breath-holding…read more.
