Super Fight-U-Ary Day 9: How I Stopped Worrying and Love the Chaos (Code)

Today is a day all about giving love, especially to people who usually go unnoticed. So, I am giving my love to fighting game that largely goes unnoticed by a lot of FGC folks that I love, Chaos Code:Sign of New Catastrophe.

Sign of New Catastrophe is an update to Chaos Code, released for Japanese arcades in 2011. Chaos Code was made by FK Digital, a small Taiwanese/Japanese development team, that also worked in Australasia (?). Despite its small team, Chaos Code got a following with its unique styling in both graphics and game play. Make sense when its made by the same folks who made a doujin fighting game called Super Cosplay Fighter.

Chaos Code at its best is when its playing hopscotch between serious and parody fighting game. Make no mistake, this is definitely an anime fighter. So there are magic series, launchers, EX moves, supers, ultimate/pseudo-instant kills, and even bursts. One of the more unique facets about Chaos Code happens before a match. Here is where you can either select two unique special moves, two supers, or a mix and match. Its a unique feature that make matches much different. However, Chaos Code would be nothing with out its characters and my goodness does it have characters.

Like I said previously, Chaos Code at is best when it straddles the line between parody and seriousness. Nothing denotes that better quite the characters it has. Sure, it has some standard character types but it branches off into wild territories. How about a main character’s true form, brought out due to his love of otaku memorabilia?

Or a cosplayer??

Or the grappler of the game, a chef that grapples you with woks?!

My personal favorite though its Cythlla, a magical girl BASED AROUND CTHULHU.

In most fighting games, I tend to avoid characters like Cthylla, but just the ridiculousness of this concept makes me gravitate to her so much. In Sign of New Catasphrohe, two new characters join the fray. There’s Ray, who is no way shape or form based on Miguel from Tekken’s playstyle (nope not at all). And there’s Lupinus, the obligatory fighting game army lady who is pants-aphopbic.

(Sigh, she is my alt too)

If there is one thing about Chaos Code I genuinely don’t like its the feeling of how many systems there are in the game. At times it feels like there are way too many and I’m not sure what or why you needed them. For example, there is a state where, once your life gets low enough, you can get a boost on meter temporary, but once its gone, you lose the meter for sometime. The thing is though, I have no clue when or why you would ever need this. The game feels at times its systems don’t run together in a cohesive whole. There’s just stuff in here for the sake of stuff.

Chaos Code is one of my favorite games. I was so stoked that Arc System Works brought it over to the West on PS3 back in 2012, and its last update as well at the beginning of last year to PS4 and Steam. I was kind of hoping Chaos Code guys show up in BB Cross Tag but I doubt that will happen. Still, if you are jonesin’ for a weird, parody fighting game that still very much a fighting game, then you owe yourself to get New Sign of Catastrophe.

 If only to see some damn high level grapple based cooking.

204 - ROGER RAGLIN - Deer Hunting the Fence Line, Location-Location, & Common Sense

Roger Raglin is an outdoor television pioneer and he has been entertaining us with his deer hunting videos for over 30 years.  We don't see him slowing down any time soon as he continues to create and edit his own work.  Sure, maybe his perspectives on hunting and society have changed, but his drive is still alive.  Many people would not typically associate hunting with higher education (at least the liberals don't), but as we've learned there's more way more to Roger than hunting videos and television. Roger is an accomplished pianist and musician and is well known for his gospel collections in Oklahoma and often played along side Pentecostal preacher turned comedian, Sam Kinison.   Roger also spent many years as an academic where he pursued a PhD at Duke University and has many degrees to his name. Despite Roger's passion for learning, his real love is with hunting and the outdoors.  Roger was inducted into the 2011 class of the National Outdoor Hall of Fame and he is one fantastic story teller.

I have a ford fester 3 doors that is insured with more than. My dad has a stroke and was getting worse as my mum or dad cannot drive I got a Peugeot 206 with 5 doors so that it would be easier for my mum and dad to get in and out of the car when taking them shopping, I also use the car when my partner is using my ford fester. My son (NAME DRIVER) uses my Peugeot 206 to go to and from college this is 3 days a week. Out of 7 days a week my son uses my Peugeot 3 days to do to college they are the only days he uses it. I use it the rest of the week. My son had a crash on the 30/09/2010 on the way home from college. The crash was not his thought as the car had just pulled out on him when the other car should have stopped. The car that crashed into his span the car around and smashed into the side of him, where the car has impacted him side (DRIVERS SIDE) the seat belt locked so my son had to climb out on the seat belt and get out the passenger side as the drivers door was smashed him. We have a witness and CCTV of what happened. When we called the insurance company (MORE THAN) they asked what happened and my son told them. They then said they will be in touch. That night we had to go to hospital as he is really has back, neck and wrist pains. It has not been 27 days since the crash and since then we have found out that we have been investigated for fraud has they are saying we lied about the amount of car in our house hold.
