2011 Cricket World Cup Indian Team Players
The 2011 Cricket World Cup holds a special place in every Indian’s heart due to numerous reasons. First of all, it was Sachin’s last World Cup, and he ended up winning it. Secondly, team India ended their 28 years of WC drought as they defeated Sri Lanka in the final, and last but not least, India became the first country to win the World Cup at home. The Indian cricket team won their 2nd World…

Yuvraj Singh- the stouthearted warrior, from having a gruff childhood with his father who was delineated by all as a martinet to being a match winner during 2007 t20 world cup semi finals against Australian , to amassing 36 runs in an over, to being a man of the tournament in 2011 world cup, to vanquishing cancer, his peregrination says it all. With lot of ebbs and flows through his life, he has been indispensable in instilling that belief regarding possessing spunky earmarks, which definitely helps in encroaching any snag. He himself asserted his disapprobation towards cricket during his early days. His predisposition towards roller skating in which he claimed a national medal when he was 11 was defenestrated by his father (Yograj Singh who himself played for the Indian Cricket team) into the trashcan. Tennis and Football were some sports who used to dabble with in his teens. He is bullish regarding making children pursue their dream career rather than doing something by impulsion. He has been a highlight reel not only as a cricketer, but also as a human where nothing could forestall him from reaching the apogee😇😊

TellyBuzz: Hellooo IPL [10th January 2011]
We have seen Gautam Gambhir being bought at a heft some of 10 cores whereas few world-class international players were bought at comparatively less rates. Why it is that Indian blood went for more prices?  India is indeed the number 1 team now in test series and number 2 in ODI and I don't think that the players are overpriced. They well deserve the price and the board is the richest in the world.
Who are the cricketers you are looking forward to in the coming season of IPL?  Yousuf Pathan, Gautam Gambhir and of course the players of Delhi Daredevils because they have been consistent, especially Virender Sehwag.
Cricketing stalwarts like Ganguly, Gayle, Jayasuriya, Lara did not get sold even at a low base price. What do you think about it?  Cricket is finally a young man's game and sometimes it so happens that the older players cannot match up to the youngsters. Talking about Sachin, he has dedicated half of his life to cricket and finally it all depends on the performance.
Which is the team which has a good balance according to them? I think Delhi Daredevils has a good team but at the same time Kolkata Knight Riders too have a strong team in place.
Which is your personal favorite among the ten teams? Did your favorite change after the recent bidding and team change?  Delhi Daredevils and will always be them. With the recent Lalit Modi controversies and the inclusion of two teams, do you think that IPL has lost its charm?  I do not think that IPL will ever lose its charm because it is more than just a tournament. It is a small game that everyone just feels like watching.   World cup is also down the lane; what are you looking forward to IPL or World Cup?  I am looking forward for both but all the more World Cup because it is Sachin's last World Cup.

[ad_1] Jasprit Bumrah in Australia (PC: Debasis Sen) In the nine years since he made his ODI debut in Sydney, Jasprit Bumrah has played just 89 ODIs. To put that into some perspective, Irfan Pathan played 72 in the three years (2004-06) when he was considered India’s great pace-bowling hope. While that’s a reflection of how the bilateral ODI is now international cricket’s unwanted stepchild, it also indicates how few teams now bother with the notion of easing their top stars into major events. From the time he caught the eye as the quirkiest of white-ball specialists, Bumrah was viewed as an X-factor for big-ticket events. He played in the 2017 Champions Trophy, when Pakistan shocked India in the final, and was an integral part of the World Cup XI in both 2019 and 2023. Between those two competitions, Bumrah played just 20 ODIs, picking up a serious injury and undergoing surgery. Now, seven months after playing a pivotal role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph, Bumrah is back to square one. It goes without saying that India would desperately want him to spearhead the Champions Trophy campaign, but is the risk worth it? Whichever way you slice it, the Champions Trophy is the least important of cricket’s global events. India will defend their T20 World Cup crown on home soil in a year’s time, and the 50-over World Cup – the Holy Grail for cricketers of Bumrah’s generation, who watched their biggest heroes win it in 2011 – is in southern Africa in late 2027. There is also the World Test Championship (WTC), the only major trophy to elude India. India were cruising towards a third straight final in the competition before the wheels came off last October. If they are to make it back to the summit clash in 2027, Bumrah will have a huge role to play in the rebuild that starts in England this summer. And make no mistake, that is India’s biggest test in the next WTC cycle. While no one will take victory for granted in home series against Australia and South Africa – especially after the New Zealand debacle – it’s the away assignments that often trip teams up. India have seldom thrived in New Zealand, but it’s the five Tests in England at the start of the cycle that will set the tone for what follows. It doesn’t need repeating that India have won just a single series there in Bumrah’s lifetime, back when even Virat Kohli was an Under-19 unknown (2007). For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Jasprit Bumrah (PC: X) A setback during the Champions Trophy, and Bumrah will almost certainly miss that England tour. He gives so much of himself each time he comes on to bowl that the injuries he goes down with are usually serious ones. An Indian team in transition simply cannot afford to lose him for the bigger tasks that lie ahead. Rushing back a celebrated player from injury has almost never ended well. David Beckham may have scored a penalty to knock Argentina out in the 2002 World Cup, but the metatarsal fracture he had barely recovered from clearly impacted his overall performance. The same was the case with Wayne Rooney in 2006. Cricket fans across the border don’t need reminding how often Shoaib Akhtar bowled telling spells and then limped off. Fast bowlers aren’t beasts of burden, and unfortunately, modern-day itineraries treat them as such. A team can also do without the constant will-he-won’t-he rumours in this age of breaking news. Towards the end of his career, Dale Steyn’s injury woes upstaged his bowling and became an unwanted distraction for teammates. Whether it is a notable landmark or a legend’s body breaking down, the last thing a dressing room wants is individual feats or struggles casting a shadow over the collective. India have won a T20I series and an ODI one against an England team that set the standard in white-ball cricket until not long ago. And they did it without Bumrah. Instead of Doomsday predictions, maybe it’s time to get behind the replacements and not rush the recovery of Indian cricket’s crown jewel. TRAILBLAZERS 3.0

Why is Sachin Tendulkar known as “The god of cricket” ?
Tumblr media
Sachin Tendulkar, the player who became the breath of Indian cricket fans for 2 decades. Perhaps today's kids don't know the legacy of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. There was a time when Sachin was on the field, the crowd would just cheer him and when Sachin walks to the pavilion, it means the crowd goes back home. He has the most runs, most centuries, most half-centuries in international cricket. He is the first player in the world to score a double century in ODIs. After his retirement of 12 years, today's phenomenal batsman chased his records. Sachin was one of those batsmen who stayed at the crease and India never lost a match. If we look at the statistics of this legend, we get to know about his aura.
He has 34357 international runs including 100 centuries in all formats. The man whose fans travel thousands of miles to see him. It is because of him that modern-day greats like Virat Kohli, world-winning captain MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and many other players started playing cricket.  Apart from this, there are many players around the world who got inspired by this great player. Sachin Tendulkar scored 15921 Test runs including 51 centuries and 68 fifties. He scored 18426 runs including 49 centuries and 96 fifties. He also played a T20I match against South Africa where he scored 10 runs and also took a wicket of Justin Kemp. Even his bowling figures are incredible where he took 154 ODI wickets, 46 Test wickets and one wicket in T20I. Very few people know but he was also a great fielder where he took 256 international catches.
Sachin had only one dream in his early career to win the 50-over World Cup. He did everything to win the World Cup but he failed in the first 5 World Cups. In the 2003 World Cup, he scored 673 runs but he failed in the final and India lost. In 2007, the Indian team was eliminated early in the World Cup where India lost to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the group matches.
At that time Sachin started thinking about his retirement but a phone call from Viv Richards changed his life. If Richards had not suggested that he play one more World Cup, Sachin's dream of winning the World Cup would never have been fulfilled. Apart from international cricket, Sachin also played 861 domestic matches including List A and first class where he scored 47395 runs. He has 141 centuries and 230 50+ scores in domestic cricket.
In the 2011 World Cup, Sachin was the 2nd leading run scorer where he scored 482 runs including 2 hundreds and 2 fifties. Due to Sachin's innings, India was able to reach such cricket scores many times from where India could win the match. In the semifinal, he scored 85 against Pakistan in Mohali.
Nov 16 2013, Sachin played his last international match in Wankhede. After the match, Sachin praised the 22 yard pitch and thanked his teammates and fans. Indian cricket fans were really sad for him. All the fans thanked Sachin for his contribution to Indian cricket. 12 years after his retirement, there are many records that belong solely to his name.

Is MS Dhoni the best Indian captain? R Ashwin has a different opinion
Mahendra Singh Dhoni left an indelible mark on Indian cricket with his more than a decade-long captaincy bringing various laurels to the team. Rather to this day, Dhoni is the sole captain of the Indian cricket team to have won all three white-ball ICC trophies. From the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, his wins spoke volumes about his…

R Ashwin Retires From International Cricket With Immediate Effect
Tumblr media
Gavaskar Trophy Test: Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. Ashwin revealed his decision at the end of the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Brisbane, which ended in a draw due to rain.“This will be my last day as an Indian cricketer in all formats at the international level. I do feel there's a bit of punch left in me as a cricketer, but I would like to expose and probably showcase that in club level cricket, but this will be the last day. I've had a lot of fun. “I must say I've created a lot of memories alongside Rohit and several of my other teammates, even though I've lost some of them over the last few years. We are the last bunch of OGs, if you can say that, left out of the dressing room. I'd be marking this as my date of having played at this level,” said Ashwin in the post-match press conference. Ashwin ends his career with 537 wickets at average of 24 in 106 Tests and becoming India’s second leading wicket-taker after legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble. He also scored six Test centuries and 14 fifties with the bat. His last international game was the day-night Test in Adelaide, where he took 1-53. His retirement announcement looked imminent once TV visuals showed an emotional Ashwin being given a hug by Virat Kohli on the balcony of the dressing room during the rain delay. Ashwin also played 116 ODIs for India, taking 156 wickets, and being a member of 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy winning teams. Ashwin also played 65 T20I matches and took 72 wickets. “Obviously, there are a lot of people to thank, but I would be failing in my duties if I didn't thank the BCCI and fellow teammates, several of them. I want to name a few of them. “All the coaches who've been a part of the journey, most importantly, Rohit, Virat (Kohli), Ajinkya (Rahane), (Cheteshwar) Pujara, who've taken those spending catches around the back to give me the number of wickets I've managed to get over the years. Also, a big thank you to the Australian cricket team, who've been very fierce competitors. I've enjoyed my time playing against them,” added Ashwin. In Tests, Ashwin was one of the big figures in the Indian team’s 12-year long home domination and played a starring role in the 2020/21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy win in Australia. Ashwin was one of 11 allrounders to clinch the double of 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Tests. He also won a record 11 Player-of-the-Series awards, level with Muthiah Muralitharan. “I think it's already getting long. I wouldn't be taking any questions, but it's truly a very emotional moment. I don't think I'm in a position where I would be answering the questions in the right way, so please pardon me for that. Once again, that's my time. “Thanks for being the journalist that you've been, writing good things and, of course, writing nasty things on occasions. That's a relationship I think we would maintain forever. I hope the cricketers to come in the future will also get the same amount of love that you've given them. “I think it's already getting long. I wouldn't be taking any questions, but it's truly a very emotional moment. I don't think I'm in a position where I would be answering the questions in the right way, so please pardon me for that. Once again, that's my time. Article Source: IANS Read the full article

Astrology and numerology are deeply intertwined with Indian culture. These practices offer guidance on everything from love and marriage to career growth and health. Many celebrities follow specific astrological charts or lucky numbers, which guide their decision-making. Additionally, gemstones—like emeralds, rubies, and blue sapphires—are worn for their perceived ability to attract positive energies and protect against misfortune.
Let’s take a closer look at some cricketers and Bollywood actors who attribute part of their success to astrology, numerology, and wearing stones.
Famous Cricketers Following Astrology and Wearing Stones
Cricketers are known for their discipline and strategy on the field, but many of them also turn to astrology and numerology for added success. Here are some prominent cricketers who believe in these ancient sciences.
Sachin Tendulkar and His Sapphire Stone
The “Master Blaster” of Indian cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, has been seen wearing a blue sapphire on his right hand. Blue sapphire is associated with the planet Saturn, which is believed to bring discipline, focus, and hard work to those who wear it. Sachin has been known for his calm demeanor and strong willpower, qualities that align well with Saturn’s influence. Many speculate that his rise to becoming one of the greatest cricketers of all time is in part due to his belief in astrology.
MS Dhoni and His Jade Bracelet
Former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni is another example of a cricketer who believes in the power of stones. Dhoni has been seen wearing a jade bracelet, which is believed to bring harmony, balance, and luck. Jade is known for its ability to protect against negative energies and attract positive forces. Dhoni’s calmness under pressure, especially during high-stakes matches like the 2011 World Cup final, is often attributed to this stone.
Virat Kohli and His Fascination with Numerology
While Virat Kohli doesn’t overtly talk about his reliance on astrology or numerology, it is well-known that Kohli is deeply influenced by numbers. Numerologists believe that Kohli’s birth number, 5, plays a significant role in his life. This number, ruled by Mercury, represents communication and intelligence—both traits that Kohli exhibits on and off the field. Though he may not wear gemstones as frequently as others, numerology is believed to guide many aspects of his life, including his aggressive playing style and leadership skills.
Bollywood Stars Who Follow Astrology, Numerology, and Wear Gemstones
Just like cricketers, Bollywood actors also rely on astrology and numerology to help shape their careers. In an industry where luck and timing are everything, many stars take guidance from their horoscopes and wear specific stones to harness positive energy.
Amitabh Bachchan and His Blue Sapphire
Amitabh Bachchan, one of the most revered actors in Bollywood, has openly discussed his belief in astrology and gemstones. After facing a series of financial struggles in the early 2000s, Bachchan began wearing a blue sapphire (Neelam) ring, which is associated with the planet Saturn. It is said that this stone helped turn his fortunes around. Soon after, he landed the role of the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, which redefined his career and brought him massive success. Bachchan credits the blue sapphire for restoring his fame and wealth.
Salman Khan and His Feroza Bracelet
Salman Khan is often seen sporting a silver bracelet with a turquoise stone (Feroza). The actor has been wearing this bracelet for decades, and it has become almost synonymous with his personality. Turquoise is believed to protect against evil and negativity, while also enhancing the wearer’s creativity and communication skills. Given Salman’s long-standing career and massive fan base, many believe that his bracelet plays a part in his continued success.
Shah Rukh Khan and the Power of Numbers
Shah Rukh Khan, known as the “King of Bollywood,” has also consulted numerologists for guidance throughout his career. Shah Rukh is believed to be influenced by the number 555, which appears frequently in his life—whether it’s in his phone numbers, car plates, or even the release dates of his films. He credits his belief in lucky numbers with helping him make decisions that have led to blockbuster movies and an enduring career in Bollywood.
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Her Emerald Ring
Kareena Kapoor Khan, one of the most iconic actresses in Bollywood, has been seen wearing an emerald ring on several occasions. Emeralds are known for their association with Mercury, the planet of communication, intellect, and quick thinking. Kareena’s sharp wit and strong screen presence could be attributed to the influence of this stone, which is said to enhance creativity and bring prosperity to those who wear it.
The Science Behind Wearing Gemstones
The belief in astrology and numerology goes hand-in-hand with the wearing of gemstones, which are thought to absorb and amplify the energies of specific planets. Each stone is said to correspond to a different planet and its associated traits. For example:
• Blue Sapphire: Associated with Saturn; promotes discipline, focus, and hard work.
• Emerald: Ruled by Mercury; enhances communication, creativity, and intellect.
• Turquoise: Linked to Venus; provides protection against negativity and promotes peace.
• Ruby: Corresponds to the Sun; boosts confidence, leadership, and vitality.
• Yellow Sapphire: Related to Jupiter; attracts wealth, wisdom, and good fortune.
The choice of stone is often based on the individual’s astrological chart, which identifies which planets are most influential in their lives. Gemstones are believed to balance out the negative effects of certain planets while enhancing the positive traits of others.
Why Do Celebrities Turn to Astrology and Numerology?
It’s not surprising that so many cricketers and Bollywood actors turn to astrology, numerology, and gemstones. These fields offer guidance in industries that are notoriously unpredictable. Cricket and Bollywood are high-pressure environments where one’s career can rise or fall with a single performance, making it natural for individuals to seek out every advantage possible. Whether it’s the perceived power of gemstones or the guidance offered by numerology, these practices provide a sense of control and security in a world where success is often fleeting.

[ad_1] Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir after series loss at the SCG (PC: Debasis Sen) When the wheels come off for great teams, they unravel quickly and spectacularly. It happened to Australia under Ricky Ponting, after the legends – Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist – retired en masse. It happened to Alastair Cook’s England, who won an Ashes Down Under and a Test series in India. Indian cricket had been there before, in 2011-12, on the heels of back-to-back whitewashes in England and Australia. The current streak offers a throwback. Dressing-room discord was an issue for the Indian team in Australia in 2011-12 also, with some players – Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir in particular – singing from a different hymn sheet and having issues with MS Dhoni. The latter was on the verge of losing his Test captaincy after the series, only to be saved by then BCCI president N Srinivasan. But a squad overhaul happened. Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman hung up their boots. Sachin Tendulkar would call time on his career a couple of seasons later. Sehwag would be dropped and eventually Gambhir, too, would lose his place in the team. India’s Test revival actually began in earnest when Dhoni retired mid-series in Australia in 2014-15 and Virat Kohli took over. India were ranked seventh at the time. The Kohli-and-Ravi Shastri duo would take them to the top of the tree. India became the best Test team in the world under their charge, winning matches in South Africa and England, and successive series in Australia. Gambhir is now India’s head coach and after a home series whitewash against New Zealand followed by a 3-1 defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the time has come for a rejig. A new cycle will begin from June, with a five-Test series in England, and India need to start afresh. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Rohit Sharma having a discussion with Jasprit Bumrah and Gautam Gambhir (Photo: Debasis Sen) It is learnt that some high-profile departures are on the cards, as the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee and the BCCI look ahead. Ravichandran Ashwin announced his shock retirement after the Brisbane Test. According to sources, his ‘partner in crime’ for many years, Ravindra Jadeja, is on his way out as well. Moving forward, Axar Patel is going to be the team’s premier spin-bowling all-rounder. Mohammed Shami missed the Test series in Australia, for he couldn’t make a full recovery. The 34-year-old fast bowler is likely to return for the Champions Trophy, but there’s a big question mark over his red-ball future. Bigger questions involving the galacticos, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, have to be answered. There’s a school of thought that Rohit, who stood himself down in Sydney, has already played his last Test, a belligerent TV interview, rubbishing retirement rumours, notwithstanding. “I don’t see Rohit going to England,” Gilchrist said on the Club Prairie Fire podcast. In fact, the legendary former Australia wicketkeeper-batsman even suggested that the upcoming Champions Trophy could be Rohit’s last as far as international cricket is concerned. “I think he will probably have a crack at the Champions Trophy and that might be (it). That might see him out.” Rohit Sharma at the SCG (PC: Debasis Sen) According to a BCCI insider, apart from the next Test cycle, the 2027 World Cup, too, is firmly on the head coach’s mind, and a new-look side would be given enough time to bed in. Phasing out is going to be the order of the day. What about Kohli? He is Indian cricket’s biggest brand. Also, notwithstanding his elongated form slump, he is the only bonafide batting great in the current Test team. Some reports suggest that the 36-year-old wants the England series in the summer to be his swansong. But Shastri believes that Kohli still has a role to play, with the Indian team heading towards transition. “So, I think the contributing factor to this team is transition and the youngsters coming through the ranks,” the former India head coach told ICC Review.
“There are a lot of guys (young players) there who can benefit from the experience of a player of Virat Kohli’s calibre.” Agarkar and Gambhir will have to make some tricky calls, as Indian cricket enters a new phase.
