So I got to drum a bit again tonight which was rad. And then I decided to take this gem out and give it a watch again. I recalled talking to the gracious Mr Jacob Marshall about this DVD during the meet & greet before the gig a couple of months ago. For my first year in a regularly gigging band, I'd watch this before each and every gig. Every. Single. One. . . . Watching it now I have a couple of thoughts: 1) holy shit, the guys were friggin young chaps when this was recorded. Where the hell did the time go?! 2) Dave's Gibson Firebird was rad as hell. C) Jacob's Bosphorus cymbals sounded sweet as heck. I always dreamed of getting a similar set. If I join a band again, I just may have to track some down. IV) The drumming to "Skyline Drive" and "Anything" was incredible. I remember seeing the cymbal edge/bell riff in " Skyline" and thinking, "oh man... Where in the set could I do that?!" (The answer was nowhere, FYI) . . . Anyway, I can't wait to see these guys and hang out again someday (soonish?) In the meantime, everyone should check out their soon to be released album. I guess it's self titled, technically? Anyways, keep a look out for Multisensory Aesthetic Experience. You won't regret it, unless you dislike things that are great.
