Emma has a reputation as a scaredy-cat. As a kitten, she was always the one being picked up from sleepovers because she was crying and wanting to go home, and she lasted about a day at summer camp before also having to be picked up by her parents. She fell out of a big tree when she was small and broke her arm, and has had a fear of heights ever since. And let’s not even mention bugs! 🪳

Now, in the story of Rock & Roar 2, she’s heading out into the big world on a cross-country concert tour for the whole summer, the longest amount of time she’s ever been away from home. On one hand, she is very nervous about it - on the other hand, playing the story’s equivalent of Warped Tour with her band is her dream come true.

On her adventure, she’ll face her fear of heights in an epic moment that I don’t want to spoil yet, she’ll try lots of new things with the encouragement of her bandmates, she’ll have to fight tooth-and-claw to save her friends, and she will be comforted by realizing that she isn’t the only person scared of bugs, when the band is approached by a terrifying desert creature one night in a funny scene that is 100% taken from something that happened to my friends and I on our Coachella road trip through the desert many years ago 😂 (let me just say that camel spiders are the stuff of nightmares, and that’s coming from someone who actually *likes* creepy-crawlies!).

But most importantly….On this day, January 7th in 1988 in the Rock & Roar universe, Emma and her siblings were born! Happy birthday, Emma. 🎂 🖤

I will never get over how gorgeous and cool Gwen Stefani's 1920's flapper era was, and the way she often mixed elements of it with her rocker style, such as wearing the pin curls and lipstick with the heavy rhinestone jewelry and a modern "punk" sort of tank top and pants. I think mixing different styles in unexpected ways makes for a quirky and fascinating aesthetic, and Gwen knew how to do this VERY well!
