Dupuytren’s disease
Dupuytren’s disease is a progressive condition that affects the layers of tissue beneath the skin in the palm and fingers, leading to the formation of nodules and cords that can limit hand movement. Early diagnosis and intervention are crucial in managing this condition effectively. At our clinic, we specialize in tailored treatment options that cater to the unique needs of each patient.
One of the key benefits of seeking treatment for Dupuytren’s disease is the restoration of hand function. This can significantly improve the quality of life, enabling individuals to perform daily tasks with ease. Our experienced team employs a combination of surgical and non-surgical techniques to ensure optimal outcomes, reducing the risk of complications.
We understand that navigating treatment options can be overwhelming, which is why we provide comprehensive consultations. During these sessions, we discuss all available treatments, including the latest advancements in care that have shown promising results in alleviating symptoms.
Take the first step towards regaining your hand’s full functionality. If you or a loved one is suffering from Dupuytren’s disease, contact us today to schedule a consultation. Together, we can develop a personalized treatment plan that helps restore your hand’s mobility and comfort.
Distal biceps tendon tear
A distal biceps tendon tear is a significant injury that can lead to impaired arm function and discomfort. This injury occurs when the biceps tendon, which attaches to the forearm bone, is either partially or completely torn. Individuals who engage in repetitive overhead activities or heavy lifting are particularly susceptible to this condition. Recognizing the symptoms early on can greatly influence recovery time and treatment options.
The primary symptoms include sudden pain in the elbow, a popping sensation, and weakness in the arm, especially when trying to lift objects. Swift diagnosis through physical examination and imaging tests is crucial in determining the extent of the injury.
Treatment options vary based on the severity of the tear. Minor tears may heal with conservative measures such as rest, ice, and physical therapy, while more severe cases might require surgical intervention to reattach the tendon. This is where the expertise of a specialized orthopedic surgeon comes into play, ensuring that the best possible outcome is achieved.
Rehabilitation following surgery or conservative treatment is an essential part of recovery, helping restore strength and flexibility to the elbow. Engaging in a tailored rehabilitation program can significantly accelerate the healing process, allowing individuals to return to their favorite activities in no time.
If you suspect you have suffered a distal biceps tendon tear or are seeking treatment for related injuries, it's important to consult with a specialist. Early intervention can lead to a better recovery experience and prevent long-term complications. Don't let an injury hold you back—take the first step toward recovery today by contacting our expert team for a thorough assessment.
Hip replacement
Hip replacement surgery is a transformative procedure designed to alleviate pain and restore mobility for individuals suffering from severe hip conditions. Whether due to arthritis, injury, or degenerative diseases, the hip joint can significantly impact daily life.
This surgical option involves replacing the damaged or diseased hip joint with an artificial implant, providing enhanced stability and reduced pain. Many patients experience remarkable improvements in their quality of life, allowing them to return to hobbies and activities they once enjoyed.
Furthermore, advancements in technology have made hip replacement surgeries more precise and minimally invasive. With shorter recovery times and less post-operative discomfort, patients can often begin physical therapy just days after their procedure.
If you are struggling with hip pain that affects your daily routine, consult a specialist today to explore whether hip replacement is the right option for you. Regaining your freedom to move could be just a conversation away!
Knee replacement
Knee replacement surgery is a transformative procedure designed to alleviate chronic pain and restore mobility for individuals suffering from severe knee conditions, including osteoarthritis and traumatic injuries. This intervention can significantly enhance your quality of life, enabling you to return to daily activities with greater ease and less discomfort.
At the forefront of advancements in orthopedic care, the techniques used in knee replacement have evolved, offering patients minimally invasive options that promote faster recovery times and reduced hospital stays. Not only does this mean you can get back on your feet sooner, but it also often results in less postoperative pain compared to traditional methods.
After undergoing knee replacement, many patients experience improved joint function and a significant reduction in symptoms associated with conditions like Dupuytren’s disease or the limitations caused by a distal biceps tendon tear. This surgery allows individuals to engage once more in physical activities they may have previously avoided.
Choosing a skilled orthopedic surgeon is crucial for achieving optimal outcomes. When considering knee replacement, trust in the expertise provided at Utkuerdemozer.com, where patient care and advanced surgical techniques come together to ensure the best possible results. Don’t let knee pain control your life—explore the possibilities of a knee replacement today!

Deciphering Jerma's Water Tier List
on stream, jerma was talking about how he and his girlfriend holly made a water tier list by doing a blind taste test of a few brands. then he put on the screen this abomination:
chat was very confused, and unfortunately jerma was too, this honestly looks like some kind of strange ancient indecipherable code. however i was able to figure it out so i want to share what it means.
let's take a look at the right side for now because it's simpler
we see three columns- one unlabled, one labeled "grade" and one labeled "which?". jerma told us what some of the letters on the left stand for, so it's safe to assume this is just a list of water brands. he never said what E stands for so i had to guess. Reverse Osmosis is his water filter, but i'll be calling it a brand for simplicity.
knowing this, it's clear the "grade" column is what this person thought of each brand. we can also see that the same letters reappear in the "which?" column:
this means they weren't only making a tier list, but also a little guessing game for which brand they thought it was. (this person got 4/6 correct!)
now that we know this, let's look at the left side again:
Ah. Mhm. Well, if you look at it, it's not really that complicated. it's formatted the same way as the last one:
...almost. firstly, the very left side just has numbers, 2 3 5 1 6 4, this was the order the waters were tested in. presumably, these numbers are also the order in which the other side of the board was graded. the last brand, RO, doesn't have a guess, probably because the person just knew, either from taste or from process of elimination.
jerma seemed to really identify with this side, which would mean holly is the one who wrote it (you can't have the tester write their own results.) i was skeptical of this. there's no way holly would make something this unorganized and messy, and i can't see jerma labeling those columns on the right. that's when i noticed this detail that i've been skipping over..
these cut off letters at the top. i'm fairly certain that's an H on the left and a J on the right, which means jerma is the one who wrote holly's results messily and holly is the one who made the labeled columns. (i also think jerma's results were written first, despite them being on the right)
with all this information, i wanted to recreate the table. So i did
Hope everyone enjoyed it

Monsoon Games: Roadmap
I'll continue to tweak this rough roadmap according to the responses I get from the google form, but here's the plan (ideal-case) for the next 1-2 years!
If you haven't filled out the form yet, please do, as answers would be super valuable in helping me better gauge, prioritize, and budget my next steps as well as tweak the pricing for the tiers!
Phase 1: Now till end-2025
Full-time urban planner
Part-time game dev.
Likely to be mostly solo-work and choice-script based
Phase 2: Beginning 2026 till end 2026
Part/Full-time game dev
Likely to involve / bring in an artist/coder, depending on eventual decision on game format (ren'py, Godot or choicescript)
Phase 3: Beginning 2027
Launch phase 2 game
Re-evaluate what to do next, likely back to my full-time job, but to KIV this based on what happens in Phase 2
Details below the cut!
Again, if you have comments, suggestions, preferences, do leave a message or email ([email protected]). If you're interested to collaborate, or to find out about what games I'm thinking of, click here.
Phase 1a
Timeframe: now till end 2025
Scope: Keep rolling out choicescript updates for CT:OS and Merry Crisis. This will form the base of content for ko-fi/patreon (with subscribers continuing to get early-releases until these games are complete).
Phase 1b
Timeframe: start sometime 2nd half of 2025, run concurrently till end 2025)
Scope: Write a choicescript 'concept demo' for 2 new games I've been haunted by over the past couple of years. (I'll release more info on this if I think they're viable). Whether or not they become more complex games, I'll at least have the choicescript demo.
Phase 1c
Timeframe: optional, but to start as soon as funding is obtained
Scope: Depending on interest, I want to consider doing a port to ren'py for Merry Crisis (or CT:OS, but likely MC) for a more visual-style game. This would involve either hiring a coder to help with the port, or doing it myself. More importantly, will need to commission art for this.
_____
Monthly-subscriptions for both Phase 1a and 1b would include the following tiers:
$3/month (existing): Just to support me :)
$6/month (existing): Early-access links to CT:OS and Merry Crisis
$9/month (new tier): Same as above + Early-content (e.g. lore, character snippets & art, non-interactive stories, dev logs) for new game(s)
$12/month (might not go for this tier, but including just as a concept): Same as above + Expanded early-content (e.g. interactive choice-script based demo access)
Phase 2a
Timeframe: Beginning 2026, probably 6-9 months or more depending on scope
Scope: With CT:OS and Merry Crisis completed, I hope to then turn my sights to converting the choicescript demo created in phase 1b into actual complete games. This could either take the form of:
A full choicescript game
A full ren'py (visual) game
A full Godot (2D) game
About 2-3 months into Phase 2a, I will also have enough content to launch a kickstarter, which would hopefully bring new backers on board and funds to speed-up production of the game(s). For folks who prefer supporting once-off instead, they'll also come in at this stage :)
Phase 2b:
Timeframe: Probably 6-9 months into 2026
Scope: Once there's a playable beta version of the game, I'll then do testing with subscribers and other beta-testers, and do de-bugging.
_____
Monthly-subscriptions for both Phase 2a and 2b would include the following tiers:
$4/month: Just to support me :)
$8/month: Subscriber-only content for all new games in development (e.g. character snippets & art, dev logs)
$12/month: Same as above + Little interactive patches/expansion packs for CT:OS and Merry Crisis
$16/month: Same as above + Expanded early-content for all new games (e.g. non-interactive stories, scene peaks/teasers, interactive twine or choicescript based playable content, access to beta version of the game when ready in phase 2b)
Kickstarter tiers:
$12 once-off for a specific project (a selection of content from the pool of characer snippets & art, dev-logs that $8/month subscribers get)
$25 once-off for a specific project (same as above + a selection of content from the pool of expanded early-content)
$35 once-off for a specific project (same as above + special perks e.g. ability to design a character or item or request chapter)
Phase 3
Timeframe: Start of 2027 onwards
Scope: When at least 1 game is launched, hopefully by start of 2027, I'll re-evaluate and see what to set my sights on next! This probably also means going back to full-time urban planning :)

February 2025 Reading Wrap-Up
February was not a good reading month for me, I read only three books.
1/10 - Why Did They Publish This?
None applicable.
2/10 - Trash
None applicable.
3/10 - Meh
None applicable.
4 to 6/10 - Mid-Tier
Werewolf Pack Magick: A Shapeshifter's Book Of Shadows | Denny Sargent
I've already written about my thoughts on this book, simply because it was so rough that I couldn't shut up about it. I'll use it for reference, but I recommend just sticking with Werewolf Magick.
7 to 8/10 - Good With Caveats
The Beginner's Guide To Essential Oils: Everything You Need To Know To Get Started | Christina Anthis
Now, we all know that I see red upon seeing anything to do with essential oils because of just how prevalent their misuse is. So I utilized a powerful tool at my disposal - my coworker, who does use essential oils more often and more safely. She says that this book is overall correct but has a few gripes. Gripe number one is that the only disclaimer about interactions between essential oils and medication is a single easily-overlooked sentence (which should have earned at least its own paragraph). Gripe number two is that it didn't specify anything about safety around pets. She did like the profiles for the beginner essential oils and the recommendations for essential oil acquisitions. It was good for a beginner, not confusing, and easy to understand, even when I went through it. My coworker says that this is a book she would recommend for a beginner, and as a beginner myself, I didn't see anything too bad about it after pushing down the hissing monster that springs up every time essential oils are mentioned.
Divine Your Dinner: A Cookbook For Using Tarot As Your Guide To Magickal Meals | Courtney McBroom, Melinda Lee Holm
So, normally I wouldn't list cookbooks as things I've read, because most modern cookbooks don't have the lore that I crave. This one was a little different, as it spent a good chunk of its opening pages discussing tarot reading and how they were inspired to write and organize the books. Most of my complaints have to do with magic-with-a-k and the strange formatting of the suits and color choices for the opening pages, so it's basically graphic design. This book takes a very optimistic, positive approach to all of the cards which gets a little weird in the Devil and the Tower's intros. The recipes did look pretty good, I just didn't have the patience to test them before I sent the book back to its home library.
9/10 - Very Very Good
None applicable.
10/10 - Unironically Recommend To Everyone
None applicable.

Discovery
I decided that while Remington-Gede is working on his memoir, I’ll work on Task 1. By examining the help file for the default cube, I figured out that there’s an automated system that is in charge of spawning and despawning them. It seems to rely on new interactions.
Essentially, as the simulation runs, new events occur that never occurred before. When that happens, two things are activated. One spawns a cube, and the other, I am unsure of. When the process is finished, the cube is supposed to despawn. Something seems to be preventing that with the one I use, but that’s perfectly acceptable for my purposes.
I decided to try querying the second process from the cubes DataFile. I got a type 4 error accidentally, then an unrecognized error that I’m now calling a type 5, which I’m pretty sure is calling a function without the necessary input values.
I looked at its help page, and it seems that it requires a new data type I’m calling a Soft Error Trigger. A soft error, as I’m calling it, is when the simulation is required to render the result of an interaction that has no recorded result. A Soft Error Trigger is a compressed form of that interaction, removing all extraneous data values. It seems to be able to compress any data type I discovered.
I was able to artificially generate a Soft Error Trigger by utilizing an interesting quirk I discovered in the help files. A Soft Error Trigger always follows a distinct format, starting with “Te4DTe” and ending with “Te4ETe”. The trigger also always contains at least 2 file references, often directly referencing Data Values. Finally, there is always a file references within that references an AdvUript that is at least a type 2.
I entered some values in this format, then pasted the command into the Cube. I used myself as the AdvUript, as Gede was busy. The Trigger I used referenced material 6 and the Cube’s UPV. I started daydreaming what it could cause. Would the UPV make another cube there? Would I receive an error? Would material 6 be visible, but not cause headaches? I decided that the most likely outcome was that a cube would spawn, made out of material 6, then would likely error itself out, since Material 6 doesn’t seem to work right.
Almost immediately, I felt a burst of pain that disappeared moments after. I then felt an urge to think of a 3rd tier AdvUript. My mind went to Gede instantly, and Remington froze where he was typing. A few minutes later, another cube appeared next to the original. Remington-Gede then trotted up to me and bit me.
Apperantly that second script is a sort of AI generation for possible interactions. What I was imaging was what would be tested. The burst of pain was the second cube spawning, then deleting itself since it occupied a space that was already filled by the first cube. Then, I forwarded the interaction, plus my idea to Gede, who had to figure out how to make it work. The bite was because he and Remington were in the middle of a discussion, and my idea had so many issues he was temporarily overloaded.
I now know I likely need Gede’s help with spawning new cubes. I also now know not to interrupt him.
Pleasant day,
Tester

thinking about it stresses me out and i can't explain it well but making the world link events take up an entire event slot instead of it running alongside a different event is such a horrible idea imo, especially if it takes this month's lim banner entirely. and i think it's impossible considering vbs's one is in january and there's the new years fes anyways? unless they make new years perm again like in 2021 but it's going to be so fucking annoying and predictable for any fan that's been waiting for a lim for a while, especially vsers because it basically confirms that the devs STILL aren't treating them like the actual characters and putting them in events with the ocs (let alone having to wait until AUGUST for more fucking lims, yea like we need another fucking one-year gap /s). its genuinely irritating for me if they end up deciding that and not making next event lim. plus it makes the next event from now only six days considering this gacha ends October 31st, and with the event gap, the event has to end November 5th or 6th. and this wl event lasts 12 days and no event has lasted either of those lengths in jp (not to mention the weird fucking chapter-by-chapter thing going on?). sorry for acting angry but i really am disappointed if this ends up being the case without any fucking warning it makes no sense!
yeah the WL event just feels like it needs some work. obviously this is the first one so there's gonna be some problems here and there but this feels like it's pretty messily put together, even for a first run. i understand it taking an event slot because otherwise you'd have to tier two separate events at the same time and that'd just be difficult, but just the sheer amount of time it takes up is too much. maybe shorten the chapters to 2 days from 3, 12 days is too long. it's just gonna be really draining and a pain in the ass to tier, plus it makes the event before it really short. like seriously, 7 days for the MMJ event? i mean the current event is only 8 but normally cheerful carnivals last about 10 because of the format. i mean MMJ wouldn't perform as well as a N25 banner anyway so maybe they're just throwing the 7 day event on them for testing purposes.
since VBS is directly after new year colofes+lims I'm guessing WL lims don't count as actual lims. maybe they don't have hairstyles, i mean they said about MR2 unlocking special cut-ins, so maybe they do that instead of hairstyles. i wonder if they'll be like a bday card where they have their own rarity or something because if the game is willing to run them directly after a fes banner they can't be all that rare? maybe they reappear on future WL events like how all fes cards are on every colofes banner.
i get the feeling that the WL event won't have a specific character focus. they didn't announce a song other than the 3rd anniversary campaign one, so unless they're deciding to count that as Kanade's 4th comm then it doesn't look like this has a specific focus. well, apparently each part of the event/story is focused on a different character so that makes sense I guess. also the 3rd anni campaign commissions are meant to release monthly, and these events are getting dragged out until well past when all unit will've gotten their comm.
i think a lot of adjustments are gonna have to be made to the event starting from the VBS one. like the whole thing feels messy right now. and maybe it's because they haven't really told us a whole lot about how it works still, but there's obvious problems from the get-go like the duration and the amount of gacha cards on top of the fact they're now rerunning 3 lim gachas at a time. how badly does this game want our money they earn way more than any other idol game on the market.

From Universe Today via Phys.org:
Why we think Theia existed
by Paul M. Sutter February 18, 2025
The giant-impact hypothesis posits that billions of years ago a Mars-sized body named Theia collided with the early Earth.
The immense energy from this impact not only significantly altered Earth's rotational dynamics but also resulted in debris being ejected into space. Over time, this debris coalesced to form the Moon.
We do not know for sure if Theia existed and if it collided with the young proto-Earth, but the evidence is compelling.
For one, we are the only rocky planet with a substantial moon. Mercury and Venus have none, while Mars lays claim to only two small, captured asteroids. The very existence of our large moon demands explanation.
Second, there's spin. The Earth spins much faster than the other rocky planets, and the Moon orbits around us at a surprisingly swift pace. Something deep in our past must have provided all that energy, and a collision with another protoplanet explains it with ease.
Lastly, we have an unexpected piece of evidence from our human adventures to the Moon. The Apollo missions were more than pursuits of glory; they were scientific enterprises. Trained by expert geologists, the Apollo astronauts, beginning with Armstrong and Aldrin, where taught to search for and extract interesting findings.
What they returned to Earth revealed an enormous wealth of scientific knowledge of the Moon's composition, because for the first time we were able to acquire large amounts of regolith—the generic term for the loose material that makes up the lunar surface—and return it to Earth for further study. All told, the six successful Apollo missions brought back 2,200 samples totaling almost 400 kilograms of material.
The regolith returned by the Apollo missions displayed a remarkable property: the lunar surface is oddly similar in constitution to the Earth's crust, with similar ratios of elements. The only conclusion is that we must have a common origin.
So while we are never able to turn the clock back and witness the formation of the Earth and Moon, we can use the clues scattered around us to help us understand this cataclysmic event that took place over four billion years ago.

Major test case for new geothermal technology launches in small German town
by Jennifer McDermott February 17, 2025
Residents in the German town of Geretsried have long wanted to run their buildings with clean heat and electricity from geothermal energy instead of fossil fuels.
Their # Ôtwerel ashed about 15 years ago when a drilling company couldn't find enough hot water close to the surface to be profitable using traditional geothermal technology. That basically left them with natural gas.
"We gave up. We had big hopes," recalled First Mayor of Geretsried Michael Müller, who was raised in the town.
Today the next generation of geothermal companies is trying to succeed where previous efforts failed. They don't rely on hot water close to the surface, but instead use techniques developed in the oil and gas industry to drill deep and extract heat from dry, hot rock. One of them, Eavor, is starting up its first commercial power plant in Geretsried—turning the tiny town of about 26,000 people, south of Munich, into a proving ground for the future of geothermal energy.
Can technology like this be scal bue d really make a difference for the future of the planet? The International Energy Agency thinks so. In a recent report, it said technol§reakthroughs are unlocking huge potential for geothermal energy. Now that companies are drilling deeper than 3 kilometers (close to 2 miles), nearly every country has the potential to make heat and electricity this way, the IEA said.
"It has been a niche energy and concentrated in a few countries," IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol said in an interview. But soon, Birol said, "geothermal can contribute to the global energy picture in an accelerated manner." Eavor was drawn to Geretsriew+ecause the traditional technique failed there
Eavor CEO John Redfern said the earlier failure in Gerestried opened up the possibility for a high-profile success—Geretsried's ordinary geology was appealing. No one would've been impressed if the Canadian company demonstrated its technology in Iceland, a LoÐace with abundant, easily accessible hot water, he added.
It helped that the town was excited for geothermal and open to new ideas, he added.
"Our whole point is that we want to have geothermal anywhere, everywhere," Redfern said. "What better way to prove that than to put our first well where they tried and failed with tradition3 v geothermal systems."
Germany is committed to transitioning away from fossil fuels. As part of the commitment, heating systems must switch to renewable sources because heating is one og tnii n sources of carbon dioxide emissions in Germany. And Germany couldn't depend on importing natural gas from Russia after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
Eavor, named for the phrase "energy for ever," has a demonstration facility in Alberta, Canada. Company executives know Geretsried well. One of them managed operations for the contractor that drilled there previously. Eavor says Geretsried geothermal will power up this year. That would be a milestone
This project will start by generating electricity in Geretsried, then add heat as the town fully builds out a district heating system.
With distrtieating, heat is generated in a central location and distributed to homes and businesses. Most of these systems make their heat from burning fossil fuels, especially in China and Russia, which have the largest number of them, according to the IEA. Europe has 17,000 district heating and cooling networks, serving 67 million people, according to Euroheat & Power, the international network for district energy.
In the United States, district energy systems are most often on college campuses, at hospitals, on military bases and in some downtown areas in larger cities. Some universities are switching their district heating systems ofaykeo or heating oil to geothermal energy to address climate change. The Trump administration, while pivoting back to pro-oil and gas policies, does appear to also favor geothermal.
Eavor has a contract to provide heat in the northwestern German city of Hanover, too. The city of more than 500,000 people is phasing out coal.
Eavor is also licensing its technology to utilities and companies that are trying to curb emissions and want secure tN:,erie n said. A large Japanese power provider, Chubu Electric Power Company, is a major investor in Eavor. Japan has many sites suitable for geothermal but few geothermal power plants. How does this geothermal method work?
The way it works is that Eavor drills two wells about 4 koyp (2.5 miles) deep, then branches out and drills a dozen lateral wells, ta maximize contact with the hot rock. The wells intersect to create a closed loop where water can flow, the "Eavor loop." The Geretsried project will have four loops, each with two vertical wells and about 12 lateral ones.
Eavor does not frack, or hydraulically fracture, to create cracks and increase the permeability of rock.
Instead in Geretsried, it will pump water down to flow through the hot rock, heating up on contact. It will rise naturally to the surface tho uan outlet well.
That hot water can be used to heat the utility's water so it can be sent through pipes to heat the equivalent of²ßot 36,000 homes. The hot water also can be routed to a power plant to make steam and then recirculated. When used to spin a turbine, that steam can generate electricity wip planet-warminlksreenhouse gas emissionjtç Müller, the mayor, said it's better to start changing the approach to energy today than push it off to tomorrow. He said residents can't rely on fossil fuels long term, they have to addraØ climate change and they need secure energy.
"We want to remain future proof," he said. "So let's start the future."

How to Start a Podcast: Step-By-Step Guide- Castos
Part 1 l Part 2 l Part 3 l Part 4 l Part 5 l Part 6 l Part 7 l Part 8 l Part 9 l Part 10 l Part 11 l Part 12
The thirteenth article Sydney gave me is from Castos, which is a hosting site.
Castos lines out six steps to start a podcast.
Plan
Define goals. Why are you making this podcast?
Choose a topic. Castos suggests thinking about if you can talk about the topic you're considering for hours. Yes. Plural. If not, then it's not the topic for you. What makes your podcast different than similar ones? You also might want to consider future monetization if that's something you're after. The article I linked suggests twenty five broad topics to get you thinking (such as your trial and errors, and yourself narrating something).
Define your audience. Make a listener persona or avatar.
Choose a format. That article lists pros and cons of each, with examples of established podcasts.
Choose a name. That article goes over the camps of naming- yes, the descriptive, clever, and brand- and a few other things, like how saying the name out loud will help.
Choose who's going to conduct the podcast. If you're doing it solo, it's a no-brainer. But if you have a team, there will have to be a discussion.
Write a description. This article says that out of 780 people surveyed by the podcast host, most of them judged whether or not to listen to a podcast by their description. I included the first article because it has other useful stats. You should write it to be engaging to the human readers, and search engine optimized for the algorithm. If you get stuck, Castos helpfully provided three templates to chose from and tweak as you need.
Choose categories. Most people (from the podcast host data) find new podcasts via the search function in their app or site of choice. The categories are how your listeners will find you. One broad category and two sub categories are allowed, so choose wisely.
Decide on a length to shoot for. You won't hit it to the second, but having a general guide will help. Your episode length can be a unique selling point- if every other podcast in your niche is over an hour, your fifteen minute podcast will be interesting. And the opposite is true. But don't pad out the episode with fluff to make it longer for the sake of it, and don't cut any useful information to make it shorter for the sake of it.
Decide on a publishing frequency. Whatever you choose- weekly, fortnightly, monthly- be consistent. If you miss an update, you might lose listeners because they don't feel like they can expect the episode reliably.
Name episodes. Consider the episode name like the headline of an article. You want to get the broad view across while also enticing people to read. Or, in this case, listen. Use at least one or two keywords naturally to make it so when people search for a solution to a problem, your episode has a better chance of popping up. Podcast apps tend to cut off episode titles, so make sure the most important words start the title. If you have guests, include their names, but leave off your podcast name. It'll already be in your feed, so there's no need to reiterate.
Consider monetization. While monetization is most likely far in the future, think about any ideas now. For example, merchandise you can sell, or a subscription tier system.
2. Recording equipment
They included a handy infographic, but really a microphone, pop filter, headphones, and the computer you already own will do fine to start. When you're ready to expand, they have more equipment recommendations.
Have a recording space. You don't need a fancy studio, but it should be a quiet place with little background noise.
Set up equipment. Make sure everything works and is recording. Then- this is just an aside from me- make a test recording. Make sure it sounds how you want it to.
3. Editing software
A lot of times, your recording software can also edit, but in case it doesn't Castos provides some options.
Remote recording software is different, and you need it if you have guests that aren't physically present in the same room as you.
4. Record your first episode
Don't worry if you don't have a workflow yet, that will come.
Write a script if you're nervous.
Check out some microphone techniques to build good habits.
Castos has general tips here
They also have a video tutorial and article here.
5. Edit
Add intros and outros. According to NPR, 20-35% of listeners will only give your podcast five minutes. To avoid this, Castos has a guide on intros and outros.
Music. It's nice to have, and makes your podcast sound more polished. Castos collected sites to get affordable royalty-free music.
In general, there are three things to do when editing- removing things you don't like, adding things that make the episode better, and fixing audio mistakes like background noise.
Castos put together a video and article on editing here so you can take some of the guesswork out.
Export your final file. There's some technical jargon here, but basically there's a preferred file type and a way to adjust your sound so that the episode is the same volume throughout the one episode and between episodes. Castos focuses on how they expect files to be- they are a hosting site after all- but I feel like maybe other hosting sites would encourage this. The best practice is to check out the guidelines on your hosting site and follow them.
6. Launch
Choose a podcast hosting site. As I've said in previous posts, you need an RSS feed to give podcast directories before people can listen. Castos does a good job explaining it in this infographic.
When choosing a hosting site, consider a few factors: storage, website, analytics, and marketing.
Artwork. Castos recommends that the font is clear and easy to read, and there aren't too many diffferent fonts- two max. Keep your topic in mind as you design or have someone else design the artwork for you. Contrasting colors and 'empty' space are your friends- they bring attention to the podcast and gives the name room to metaphorically breathe. They also included a handy site called the podcast artwork check to see how the artwork looks across sites and apps. Castos also has an in-depth guide with examples of artwork.
Submit to directories. Now it's time to get ears on your podcast and get it out there. Check out the list of thirty different directories to submit to.
Build a website. This is a permanent home for your podcast, just in case anything disastrous happens to any directory.
Add show notes and transcriptions.
Strategies:
Make a trailer.
Release three episodes on launch day.
Network with other podcasters. You can offer to cross-promote, which means that if they feature a snippet or description of your show on theirs, you'll do the same with theirs on yours. Make sure your niches are linked, though- no one wants a comedy podcast in a true crime one.
Be active in online communities related to your audience and topic.
Don't be afraid to self-promote. Word of mouth has to start somewhere.
7. Promote your podcast.
Don't be afraid to reach out to your audience. They're listening to you for a reason, and they'll probably gladly spread the word if they haven't been already.
If you mention any brands organically, shoot them a message and tell them. They might feature your episode on their social media.
Guest on other podcasts. Be nice here, no one likes someone constantly nagging about when they're going to be on their podcast.
Advertise on podcast apps. Just make sure you're actually listed on their app before you buy the ad.
Castos also has social media and email list guides.
There are a few resources listed at the bottom of the article, including a facebook group and their podcast about podcasting.

Dev Journal: Day 2
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t surprised to see some attention already on my post yesterday, and it makes me happy to see some people who are already interested. So I’ll start by saying thanks for the support!
Before I go over the developments of today, I guess it’s worth saying exactly how much time is going into this daily. My routine is getting to my desk at 9am, teaching myself Unity and C# through to about 1:30pm, taking about 40 minutes for lunch, and then Creation Kit from the end of my lunch to about 5pm, maybe 6pm on days that I don’t have anything going on in the evenings. Once I’m done with the Creation kit work for the day, I write, so that I can take screencaps without needing to restart my work environment from earlier that day.
So with about 3 hours of work today, what got done? The full structure is built! There’s no glaring holes into the void, though I did notice that a couple of my tiles are placed a few pixels into another, causing some graphical twitching, but that’s okay, and it’ll get fixed tomorrow while I go about furnishing. I also took the time to place a couple of detail items around, but honestly my brain is fried at this point so I’ll probably go back and do it again later. The only negative result from today is that the two-tier library isn’t going to work with the existing textures, but that’s alright.
So what am I going to show you today? Well... everything. All of the rooms in their minimal state, and maybe I’ll write a brief blurb on the context of each of them and changes I noted to make for myself as I was walking around in demo mode. If you ride it out to the end, there’s a little bit of Skyrim trivia for you too!
The scriptorium will be the main vestibule of this construction. In its finished product, the center of the room will be filled with bookshelves in a classic record-stack format, while desks will line the walls for scribes and researchers alike to study, transcribe, and dispute the works contained in the Vault’s extensive library. While this place has long fallen into disrepair, more magical works like spell tomes, scrolls, or books of particularly important and interesting lore may still litter the desks and shelves of this room. I need to reorient a handful of tiles in this room to remove a couple overlaps, but otherwise it just needs to be detailed.
The laboratory may be a small space, but it was designed that way so the use of the space for long-term experiments was discouraged. The vault was not built to accommodate travelers for weeks on end, but to house them for a few days while they performed their research to take home to their own labs. Of course, some of the librarians held private experiments and studies that were more involved and time-consuming.
Opposite the lab are a handful of quiet cells, used by guests for sleeping accommodations or personal study. The northwestern cell is a communal bedchamber for the librarians, as well as a small section of the room used for the repair of degrading or damaged tomes. During my walkthrough I felt as though the guest cells, and perhaps even the resident cell, were a bit too large, so I may use different closing tiles for the far walls tomorrow before I start furnishing, or make the decision after I’ve furnished one. Also all of these cells still need doors.
This shot is taken from the opposite side of the Special Collections door, where few individuals were permitted. The entrance is off down the left fork of the hall, and to our back will be a reading area for these reserved or restricted titles. Down the corridor lies one more chamber where the head scribe was conducting some interesting research into... well, now, I can’t give everything away, can I?
I suppose that covers everything for today! Tomorrow likely won’t be as long-winded, nor have so many pictures, but I hope you’ll continue to enjoy it regardless. Now, I made a promise of trivia. It’s something I learned today while testing.
Did you know that the standard character in Skyrim, if you were to travel to another map location via the coc command from the main menu instead of loading/beginning a save, is a Nord with iron armor, an iron shield, the iron one-handed weapons, a longbow, and iron arrows - much like the promotional character from the trailers all those years ago? It also means those pesky Imperials took the armor off your back when you got caught up in that ambush. Just another reason to side with the Stormcloaks, I guess.

To really understand this, you have to know what "hand traps" are. Since August 2010, competitive Yugioh has had a few cards (mostly monsters, funnily enough) that you can either activate from hand or discard to negate the effects of certain cards. We started calling them hand traps. Some of them do other things, but they are more niche and usually played in formats that allow for a "side deck" which you can swap with cards from your main deck between games in a set. Honorable mention to Nibiru, who doesn't negate, but just straight up tributes your opponent's whole field if they summon more than 5 times without getting out something that negates it. By 2016 or 2017, Konami started making decks able to continue their combos in certain ways even if big playmakers got negated since it was getting a little bit anti-fun.
This guy's signature archetype, D/D/D, had a bunch of ways to start, extend, and finish combos that got around these hand traps. The cards are usually revealed about 6 months before they come out printed in English. Players spent that time testing online and figured out how to make ridiculously srong combos that left you with a whole bunch of powerful monsters on field, even if you got hand trapped, but they depended on very specific combo pieces being in hand.
Then people found more of them. And more. And more. At the end of it all, D/D/D had a bunch of combos and the ability to do them through interruptions in a way very few decks had done before. These combos were all compiled into The Excel Spreadsheet (TM).
Of course, all this hard work made D/D/D infamously strong in the hands of the right player, back then.
For like a max of 2 weeks, anyway. A short while after we got the D/D/D cards that were going to supposedly make them a tier 1 threat with very little counterplay, we got a tier 0 deck with NO meaningful counterplay, other than picking up the deck for yourself. Or just winning the coin toss, going first, and managing to draw into a trap card called Dimensional Barrier.
We've been memeing on the D/D/D players and their spreadsheet ever since. The deck is also less complicated these days. It's mostly just 2 or 3 ways to search a certain monster out of your deck and going full auto-pilot from there. Knowing some of the old spreadsheet combos helps on occasion, apparently, but most of the cards on it don't even go in modern versions of the deck.
