Before he could write a response, Curtis’ hand came into view and he scribbled something else onto the sticky note. ‘It’s cool don’t worry’ The writing was sloppy but he blamed it on the angle.  Shiro wrote back, ‘Yes’ Under his first question before hesitantly adding. ‘You think so?’ Curtis read it over with a small smile on his lips. ‘Yeah makes you look like one of those stage idols’ Shiro’s reply somehow captured his deadpan expression. ‘Like kpop idols?’ Curtis laughed out loud at this, Mr. Owens gave the two a suspicious look. They both looked suddenly interested in the ceiling and flooring.

Once he returned to his lesson, they both laughed, silently this time. ‘No like the American ones that try too hard’ Shiro gave him a flat look. ‘Wow thanks’ Curtis crossed out half of the sentence and rewrote ‘that look all flashy and cool’ Shiro stared for a second before Curtis leaned over. “That better?” Shiro rolled his eyes, peeling the sticky note off his desk, “Yes, thank you.”

He’d be lying if he didn’t wish he could laugh everything off like that. “Someones-” “Not paying attention.” Mr. Owens said from over their shoulders. Curtis barely flinched meanwhile Shiro had knocked his knees against his desk when he startled. “Sorry, teach.” Mr. Owens gave an unamused look in Curtis’ direction, who didn’t look sorry in the slightest. “I’m glad you’re making friends, but let’s try to pay attention to the less, you two.” He gave them both a stern look. “Sorry, Mr. Owens.” Shiro rubbed his knee, dipping his head. “It’s alright, Shiro, just make sure you know what you’re doing for your project.” He said, tapping the paper on his desk, he entirely missed them being passed out. “Right.” He said quietly. Once he returned to the front of the room, he frantically turned to Curtis who was already learned in. I’ve gotten LOADS of questions about how I made my prosthetic scale thing for Calianna, and this was actually my first homemade prosthetic piece, so I’m by no means a professional, but here’s a walkthrough of what I did.

You will need:

Gelatin packets

Glycerin

Measuring cup

Syringe

Tupperware

Mircowave

Cutting board/placemat/aluminum foil/flat surface that’s somewhat flexible

Knife

Eyeliner, eye crayon, or something you can draw on your face with

Black face paint

Paint Sealant Spray

Black and green eyeshadows, preferably glittery

ProsAide or Spirit Gum (and remover!)

Paint brushes that you don’t mind throwing away (paint can stain and ProsAide will not come out)

Your normal makeup for the other half of your face

1. I followed Glam&Gore’s tutorial on how to make sfx gelatin and make scales, but to summarize, you take a syringe and suck up the hot gelatin, and then squirt little dots out. Since I wanted my scales to have a shape, I made dots a little larger than how I wanted the scales to be. I also found it helpful to let the gelatin sit for a few seconds so it was less watery (closer to the consistency of honey) because the little dots of gelatin stayed thicker and that gave a better scale texture. If none of this makes sense, watch her video. It will make more sense.

2. I took my knife and cut each scale into a triangle. Yes. Each one. It took me hours. And my hand hurt.

3. Between batches of scales, I took an eye crayon and mapped out where I wanted the prosthetic to sit on my face. Then, I took a sheet of paper and pressed it against my face, to transfer the shape onto paper.

5. The transferring wasn’t super visible, so I went over it in pen. I ended up with this shape. (I tried to make an ear, which is the oval here, but it honestly didn’t stick and was mostly covered by the hair anyway. Save time and paint your ear black.)

6. In case you thought I was done with tedious work, you were sadly mistaken. I laid each scale individually, gluing them together with ProsAide. Try not to get your adhesive on the paper. That sounds impossible, and it is. As I tried peeling it off, I realized it wasn’t super sturdy. I flipped it over and peeled it off, and then decided to add a backing.

7. I spread a thin layer of gelatin down and placed my piece onto that.

8. I cut the piece out, peeled it up, and repeated until I had three backing layers. At this point, I SHOULD have held it up to my face to cut an eye hole, but I forgot. But you should do that.

9. I painted the scales as I would paint my real face, with black water based paints. I use Mehron Paradise Paints and seal it with Ben Nye Final Seal. I was really glad at this point that I used a brightly-colored cutting board, because it was easy to see when I missed a spot. 

10. Lastly on the prosthetic piece, and this is totally optional but I’m a glitter fiend, I added some glittery eyeshadow. I went with L’Oreal’s Golden Emerald and Eternal Black.

11. I don’t have pictures now because I’m bad at taking pictures when I do my makeup, but I did my normal makeup on my un-scaled side (I chose my right). I dragged the foundation further left than I knew the prosthetic and paint would cover because I could just paint over foundation.

12. Other normal makeup on that side: highlighting and contouring, eye makeup, etc. Again, I’m not a makeup artist so I don’t have a lot of good advice here. I used a reference photo of Cali and just went at it. 

13. I painted the left half of my face black, including down my neck and my ear. Around the edges that the prosthetic wouldn’t cover, I used the L’Oreal eyeshadows again to make sure everything blended. And because I love glitter.

14. I painted my face and the prosthetic with ProsAide, waited for it to turn clear, and stuck it on. 

15. I stuck the wig on, took pics, and the rest is ye olden FaceTune. That’s all.

Now, for a few things I would’ve done differently.

I’ve heard you can mix paint directly into gelatin, so I’d probably color the scales like that instead.

I wish I would’ve made three pieces instead of one big one- one for the forehead, cheek, and jaw, because, uh, I can’t move my face in this at all.

Eyelash extensions aftercare instructions

After eyelash extensions，our eyes become extremely attractive and sparkling. But this status can only last for a short time without proper maintenance. So what is a proper maintenance？

1． Within 24 hours

Please avoid washing your face and bathing within 6 hours after eyelash grafting.

Sauna, hot yoga, swimming and other high temperature and humidity environment are prohibited within 24 hours.

After grafting, although it looks like it has been dried， actually the glue is not completely cured.

2． Precautions when washing your face

1） Do not use oily cleansers, because the oily ingredients are easy to penetrate into the bonding part, and each use of oily cleanser may cause premature eyelash shedding.

Non-oily cleansers are recommended.

2） Do not cause a burden to eyelashes when washing your face, do not literally rub, do not rub to eyelashes, should be from the eyelid on the direction of eyelash hair tip with finger cleaning.

3） Don't shower directly into your eyes. Strong pressure can cause your lashes to deform and fall out prematurely. Rinse gently with water in the palm of your hand or over a washbasin.

4）After washing your face, gently press from above your eyes to wipe away moisture. Be careful not to let the fabric of the towel catch your eyelashes. Use a hair dryer to dry any remaining moisture, or blot it on a napkin.

3．Precautions for skin care

Wipe makeup water with cotton piece, pay more attention when patting near eyelashes, use fingers to daub around eyes.

If it is oily emulsion or cream attached to the eyelashes, gently wipe off with a wet cotton pad and cotton swab.

4. Precautions when making up

1) When using eyeliner, a hard pen or eye-sealing cream will rub the eyelash root, which will cause burden and easy to fall off.

2) When eye shadow or foundation is on your lashes, use a damp paper towel.

When makeup and foundation are more obvious, it should be gently wiped with eyelash cleanser.

3) It is better not to use mascara.

Because the removal of mascara causes great burden to eyelash extensions, and will remain on grafted eyelash, cannot completely discharge clean, make grafted eyelash forms a knot and fall off thereby.

If you must use it, it is recommended to use special eyelash mascara that is applicable for eyelash extensions.

4) Avoid eyelash curlers.

Because the eyelash extension contains curls itself, so not necessary to use eyelash curlers any more.

5. Matters needing attention when falling off

After the eyelash extension falls off half, the eyelash remains are not good, in this time do not pull off yourself, forcible removal can damage native lashes.

Be sure to find a professional eyelash technician to remove for you.

6. Regular deep lash care

Regular use of safe and effective eyelash care products can make their eyelashes healthy growth, to ensure better grafting effect.

7. Can I use makeup remover?

As long as handling correctly, eyelash extensions will not fall off immediately. But the use of inferior adhesive will make eyelash durability reduced or grafted eyelashes whiten the situation appears, please try to use oil free (gelatin, gel) makeup remover.
