Word for Today (26.7.2024):
1 Corinthians 16:13–14: Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity. 2 Chronicles 30:9b: For the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him. The first thought that came to mind was about those cyberstalkers claiming one of my students was bad and improper. I am not going to…

One of the things on my list for this new year’s resolution is: Comeback to God. Not only to the church but to GOD— RETURN TO GOD. I have been wandering and disobedient for many years. Choosing new directions and making some mistakes at the same time. But my heart is still soft when it comes to Him. Whenever I pray sometimes, I mention, “I’m not sure if you’re listening to me but I just want to entrust to you this…” I don’t know if God is still listening to me and I have this thought because of my stubbornness. Even if I say this in my prayer, I still hope that He will listen and answer me.
I want to come back to God fully committed, I want to serve Him, my heart desires the love of God and God Himself. I want to come back to God not because I cried in a prayer or I cried while praying. I want to come back to Him because I want to find myself again with God. I want to love God without being disturbed by my mind. I want to love God.
"...for the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.” 2 Chronicles 30:9b

(左圖取自維基共享資源,版權屬公有領域;右圖取自facebook.com/USSTheodoreRoosevelt)

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES FOR OVERCOMING LEADERSHIP CHALLENGES
Introduction
Leadership demands deliberate effort to produce results for individuals, groups, institutions, societies and nations. Leaders bear the burden of translating vision into reality. They are coaches that convey those within their sphere of influence from where they are to the point they ought to be. Leadership principles may be universal but its engagement are contextual.
Leaders take the responsibility for guiding and directing the affairs of people, organisations and global communities. Leaders are often confronted with issues that seek to hinder their quest for success in their respective engagements. Leadership principles may be universal but its engagement are contextual.
The Chronicle of Leadership Challenges
These challenges are sources of worry to the leader that wants to achieve results. These challenges are points of concern for the leader that is keen on producing results in his field of engagement. These challenges are issues that demand solutions or answers. They permeate the entire spectrum of the roles of a leader.
Acceptance
Bureaucracy
Communication
Delegation
Effectiveness
1. The Challenge of Acceptance. To enlist the support of others, the leader must secure a buy-in.
This simply describes the burden the leader faces in trying to enlist the support of those within his sphere of influence.
1 Sam. 10:24–27; Acts 9:26; Ex. 2:11–14; Ex. 4:1;
The principles to be engaged in overcoming this challenge are:
The Heritage Principle: Identifying shared values opens the ears of your followers — Acts 9:27, Ex. 3:11–18
The Influencers Principle: Learning from men of worth enables you to excel in your world. — Ex. 3:13–18, Acts 9:27
The Empowerment Principle: Letting others do what they possess capacity to do will aid your success. — Ex. 4: 28–31
The Achievement Principle: Small feats of early success gets you an all time round success. — Ex. 4:1–9, 30–31; 1 Sam 11:1–15
2. The Challenge of Bureaucracy. Rules are tools that enable the wise to be separated from fools
This simply describes the seeming obstacles that stand in the face of the leaders in form of a system of getting work done.
Nehemiah 2:1–2, Esther 4:11–16, Acts 6:1–2
The principles to be engaged in overcoming this challenge are:
The Risk-takers Principle: Bold steps always unveil the exceptions to the rule. — Esther 5:1–3, Nehemiah 2: 1–6
The Reputation Principle: The positive perception of others about you influences your results. — Acts 6:3
The Enlistment Principle: Cooperation and Collaboration always lead to distinction. — Acts 6:3
The Acknowledgement Principle: To evaluate a situation wrongly is to miss an opportunity to negotiate. — Nehemiah 2:2, Esther 4:16, Acts 6:2
3. The Challenge of Communication. All forms of expressions must connect the people to the vision
This simply describes the need for leaders to paint the picture of the corporate goal with clarity. Where there is brevity and clarity, there can be no ambiguity.
Numbers 13–14:1–5; Exodus 18:13–18;
The principles to be engaged in overcoming this challenge are:
The Social Intelligence Principle: Navigating and Negotiating complex social environments secure peoples passion and preserves the vision.
The Persuasion Principle: Changing peoples attitude will always alter their altitude. — Numbers 13:30; 14:6–10, 24;
The Tutelage Principle: Assumption is the least level of knowledge
The Linkage Principle: All lines of expression must associate current situations with a view to achieving overall vision. — Numbers 13:30; 14:6–10, 24;
4. The Challenge of Delegation. Delegation works when the leaders that delegate work too
This simply describes the need for leaders to assign work to others based on their strengths and scope of work to be done.
Exodus 18:13–18; Acts 6:1–2
The principles to be engaged in overcoming this challenge are:
The Task Assessment Principle: Evaluating tasks enables dutiful allocation of roles. — Exodus 18:19–20, Acts 6:2
The Entrustment Principle: The commitment to an assignment leads to its achievement. — Exodus 18:21a, Acts 6:3a
The Standard Principle: Defining the qualities for leadership is essential to the success of a leader. — Exodus 18:21b, Acts 6:3b
The Structure Principle: Leaders must assign responsibilities based on a corporate design. — Exodus 18:21–22, Acts 6:3c
5. The Challenge of Effectiveness. Nothing commands respect like results
This simply describes the need for leaders to get work done methodically while maximising resources and opportunities.
Exodus 17:8–10,
The principles to be engaged in overcoming this challenge are:
The Lid Principle: Developing your personal ability enables you to excel alongside others. — Exodus 17:9a
The Strategy Principle: Failing to plan is planning to fail. — Exodus 17:9b-11
The Observation Principle: Paying attention to a process eliminates the cost of failure and reduces the price of success. — Exodus 17: 11–12
The Sustainability Principle: Upholding practices that work guarantees overwhelming success. — Exodus 17:12–13
CONCLUSION
Leadership principles may appear universal but their application is very contextual. You must apply them with a thorough understanding of your environment.
